Everything you need to know about the thrilling TreeTop Trek Windermere

TreeTop Trek Windermere is a high rope adventure on the shores of Windermere at Brockhole-on-Windermere. With rope bridges, zip wires, and a whole lot of upper body strength needed – the TreeTop trek is the ultimate adventure.

On a sunny spring afternoon, I took the challenge to complete the full TreeTop Trek Windermere. Some things you should know; I’m terrified of rights, I’m not the fittest person in the world, and I’d had Covid about a month before. However, when I’ve seen the TreeTop Trek before, there has been a part of me that was dyi ng to have a go, just to see if I could do it.

Spoiler alert, I do survive this!

What is TreeTop Trek?

TreeTop Trek is an aerial adventure where you can swing, climb, balance and fly your way through the woodland canopy on our fun challenges and zip lines!

Split into two sections, you can do either the mini TreeTop Trek or the full TreeTop Trek. You start from the wooden tower, where you climb the stairs to the first level, and then over the wooden bridge and into your first set of treetop adventure

Along both courses, you have up to 32 ariel obstacles, including rope walks, climbing through nets, and zip wires

After you’ve finished your trek, you can head to the top of the TreeTop tower and have a go on the 250m zip wire across Brockhole-on-Windermere (which was 100% my favourite part!)

How I found the TreeTop Trek Windermere…

Let me tell you, this is HARD. I was only just fit enough to actually do the trek, which left my body aching for a week afterwards!

You use a lot of upper body strength across the course, and for the full trek, it is around 2 hours.

I thought heights were going to be the biggest issue for me, but surprisingly I was okay with them. I was so focused on what I was doing, that I actually forgot about the height issue. Once you realised how safe you were in the harness (and survived a fall on one of the obstacles!), the fear dissipated ever so slightly! And yes, the fall resulted in a pretty epic bruise!

Actually, trying to work out how to complete each obstacle was tricky at times and potentially one of the things I found hardest. The brilliant team members at TreeTop Trek were on hand to help, and give moral support!

Speaking of team members – they really made the experience. From an in-depth safety brief at the beginning, to the support they gave you around the course. Whether it was tips on how to do the obstacle, or coming to help if needed.

Whilst I found it physically and mentally draining, I have to say I really enjoyed doing the TreeTop Trek. It felt like a real accomplishment in the end.

How much does it cost?

There are different course options to suit your needs. They are;

• Full Treetop Trek – takes 2-3 hours – £36pp (£28 for children 7-16yrs)
• Mini Treetop Trek – 1 hour – £25pp (£21 for children 5-16yrs)
• Treetop Nets (for children) – 2 hours – £22pp
• Climb and Zip – 30mins – £20pp (£17 for children 5-16yrs)
