TravelBall Select is known as the leader of high level youth baseball across the country. Its annual rankings are considered the most complete and accurate rankings in the industry. The nation’s top-level teams look to TBS to provide the most accurate assessment of competition across the country.

TravelBall Select started out as a media based company back in the late 90’s. Mitch Green and Richard Cole took over ownership in the early 2000’s and led the company into the limelight with its team rankings and All-America selection during the next few years of operation.

Rick Goff joined the company in 2006 and became a partner in 2009. In 2018, Rick took over operations and became sole owner. The TBS Nationals was created in 2012 as a place that our ranked teams could come and play to decide, on the field, who is truly the #1 team in the country. This invite only event has attracted hundreds of teams each year and has seen teams from 25 different states in attendance over the years. In 2021, the event in Elizabethtown will mark the 10 year anniversary of the event. In 2020, TBS joined the Athletx Sports Group family and is now headquarted in Louisville, KY.

2023-24 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 - No. 4 (April 24)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -  Southeastern (Fla.) garners all 19 first-place votes to sit atop the standings of the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25. Georgia Gwinnett moves up to second and Cumberlands (Ky.) to third as LSU Shreveport (La.) drops to fourth. Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) moves up four spots to sit in fifth place while Kansas Wesleyan and Columbia (Mo.) both join the Top 25. 

Rating Methodology

• The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each rater ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
• Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”

On April 24, 2024, the MICHELIN Guide revealed the brand new list of One, Two, and Three Key hotels in the United States. In this first ever announcement of MICHELIN Keys in the United States, hotels in Atlanta, California, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, New York, and Washington DC were eligible for the distinction. This announcement of the most outstanding hotels in the country comes four years into a comprehensive refresh of our hotel selection. The MICHELIN Guide now includes over 5,000 hotels across the world, and not a single one is simply a room for the night. These are places that significantly add to your experience as a traveler, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting. Which brings us back to the Keys. The culmination of countless hours of evaluation by our team of experts, the Key hotels below represent the highlights of our broader selection. The Three Key Club in New York City

Expect: The highest luxury and impeccable design in Soho, Midtown, and the Financial District. Within the small club of Three Key hotels in the United States, four make their home in New York City. The Aman New York (Midtown) and Casa Cipriani (the Financial District) both make use of glamorous Beaux Arts buildings, the former a gold-crowned skyscraper in Midtown, the latter a glamorously restored ferry terminal at the very southern tip of Manhattan. Baseball: Reigning state champ leads first rankings of 2024 season

The baseball season is underway. Here's lohud's first look at the top teams in the Lower Hudson Valley through the early part of the 2024 season.

Section 1 class team rankings will be added in future editions of the high school baseball rankings.

First 2024 rankings

• Ketcham — The team name may have changed, but the championship aspirations haven't. After reaching the summit and winning a state title last season, the Storm returned a core group of players who played key roles last season. There is a quartet of Division I-bound seniors: Ryan Mealy (Monmouth), Riley Weatherwax (Penn State), Luke Picone (Wagner) and pro prospect Owen Paino (Ole Miss).
• Iona Prep — There's an abundance of talent throughout the Gaels' batting order and pitching rotation. With more than a half-dozen Division I commits and several others on the Division I radar, the Gaels have the pieces to enjoy another solid season. They reached the CHSAA Archdiocesan finals in each of the last two years, including a title win in 2022. Virginia Tech-bound Marcel Kulik and reigning CHSAA player of the year Ryan Bailey, a Maryland commit, are two of the top arms in the area.
• John Jay-East Fishkill — The Patriots went 17-8 last season in one of the more competitive leagues in the section, a record that included three close losses to Ketcham decided by two or fewer runs. The Patriots have some key returners back and should remain a formidable foe.
• Mamaroneck — The Tigers had a strong second half of the season last year and closed their 14-8 season by winning nine of their last 11 games. They return seven starters from last season and this experienced group is looking to take the next step.
• Kennedy Catholic — Last season, the Gaels stepped things up at the right time and went on a deep playoff run before falling to eventual CHSAA runner-up Iona Prep. The Gaels are young but have experienced pitchers in Colin Spidal, Omar Giret and Jack Williams, plus Division I commits C.J. Griggs (Hofstra) and Eli Negron (Maryland-Eastern Shore). Their preseason trip to Florida went well, and they won six of seven games, but will try to carry that success over to the regular season.
• New Rochelle — The Huguenots graduated several key seniors from last year's team, but there's no downplaying their solid start to the 2024 season. The Huguenots picked up a pair of quality wins against Suffern and Clarkstown South to open the year and will try to build off of that going forward.
• Stepinac — The Crusaders graduated 13 players from last season's team. They'll turn to veteran leaders Wally Briganti, Mike Weninger, Mike Iannicchino and Chris Heinrich to guide them through some early growing pains. There's plenty of promise among the underclassmen, so don't be surprised if this team can turn things up late after adjusting to the learning curve.
• Mahopac — Mahopac was much better than its record indicated last season, finishing 10-10-2 overall. The WolfPac had a couple of marquee wins over rivals Ketcham and John Jay-East Fishkill behind Hofstra commit Tyler Castrataro, but they're aiming to put together a more consistent year and make some noise with a solid cast of returning players.
• Tappan Zee — The Dutchmen had their moments last year, including a big early-season win over eventual state runner-up Panas, before getting upended by Mahopac in the opening round of the Class A opening round. Now a year older and wiser, they have plenty of key returners back, including returning league Player of the Year and Columbia-bound Ben Fishel. Their early-season rout of Albertus Magnus is a good start.
• Albertus Magnus — The Falcons return a bulk of of their top contributors from last season's first-ever run to the Class B state final four. The senior quartet of Pat Veintimilla (Saint Joseph's), Logan Scholl (Marist), Connor Benvenuto (Westfield State) and Joe Dwyer will lead the way in another promising season for the Falcons.

Moscow City Council questions, then passes library resolution

Mar. 5—A city of Moscow resolution supporting the Latah County Library District sparked debate during Monday's City Council meeting before ultimately being passed by the councilors.

Moscow joined four other Idaho cities — Blackfoot, Shelley, Firth and Aberdeen — that have created similar resolutions supporting libraries. Moscow City Supervisor Bill Belknap said Friday it is a response to recent efforts in the Idaho Legislature to police library materials that Idaho lawmakers view as harmful to minors.

The resolution states that the city provides "its support and full confidence in the Board of Trustees and Library Director of the Latah County Library District ... to provide appropriate access to print and electronic reading materials suitable to patrons regardless of age."

Several councilors, while expressing their support for the library district, also shared their hesitation in passing such a resolution.

Councilor Julia Parker said it is odd for the council to pass a partisan resolution and wondered why the council does not take similar actions for other issues like women's rights and LGBTQ-related issues.

Councilor Hailey Lewis supported the resolution, but expressed fear Moscow will see retribution from the Idaho Legislature if it's passed.

Councilor Drew Davis said he would prefer to have hard face-to-face conversations with lawmakers instead, because he believes a resolution is too easy for them to ignore.

"To me this is doing something without having the hard conversation," he said.

Davis was the only councilor to vote against the resolution.

Councilor Sandra Kelly said the city should not be afraid of retribution, and should pass the resolution to show the city stands by its library.

"I want them to know that they do have our full support and confidence," she said.

Belknap said Monday the city does not operate the Moscow Public Library, which is part of the Latah County Library District, but it does financially support the library building.
