Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, March 25, at 10 AM (local for each venue). VIP packages including great seats and exclusive festival merchandise will be available . The sold-out show was so well received that Blackbird and Nelson have developed it into one of North America’s biggest annual touring franchises. Outlaw Music Fest With Willie Nelson Returns To Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Outlaw Music Festival is returning to Pittsburgh.

The festival will bring country music legend Willie Nelson to the Pavilion at Star Lake on July 31. He'll be joined by ZZ Top, Gov't Mule, Larkin Poe and The War and Treaty.

"Willie Nelson & Family are so excited to be back on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour with this all-star lineup of artists," Nelson said on Facebook.

The festival will hit the road in June and will feature other artists like Chris Stapleton, The Avett Brothers and Brothers Osborne, though lineups vary per date.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m., but presale kicks off Wednesday morning.

A trio of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will headline this year’s Outlaw Music Festival, which will visit the Pittsburgh area in September.

Willie Nelson & Family will be joined by Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp for this year’s festival stop, set for Sept. 14 at the Pavilion at Star Lake. Also on the bill is Tennessee soul/blues band Southern Avenue.

The trio first toured together in 2009, including a stop on July 13, 2009, at Consol Energy Park in Washington, Pa.

“This year’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists,” Nelson said in a release. “I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love.”

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at livenation.com , with a variety of presales beginning at 10 a.m. today.

Dylan last played Pittsburgh in 2021 at the UPMC Events Center, while Nelson and Mellencamp each performed here last year.

Willie Nelson has announced the 2023 Outlaw Music Festival Tour. Over the course of 32 shows taking place between June and October, the 89-year-old music legend will share the stage with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, The Avett Brothers, Bob Weir, John Fogerty, Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, and Margo Price.

The 2023 Outlaw Music Festival Tour also features Gov’t Mule, Marcus King, Trampled By Turtles, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Kathleen Edwards, Flatland Cavalry, Kurt Vile And The Violators, Brittney Spencer, Whiskey Myers, and Particle Kid performing in select cities. Tickets for a newly announced run of shows in September and October go on sale Friday, April 28th via Ticketmaster . A Live-Nation pre-sale will occur one day earlier on Thursday, April 27th using access code VINYL .

Prior to launching the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, Nelson will celebrate his 90th birthday with a pair of all-star concerts at the Hollywood Bowl , featuring Kacey Musgraves, The Chicks, Neil Young, Snoop Dogg, and more. In July, he’ll host the 50th anniversary of his annual Fourth of July Picnic in Austin. Tickets to all of his upcoming shows are available here .

Several music legends are set to perform at the Pavilion at Star Lake later this year.

The Outlaw Music Festival tour is bringing headliners like Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and more to the Burgettstown venue on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Southern Avenue is also set to join them on the tour.

“This year's Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists," Nelson said in a statement. "I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love."

The Outlaw Music Festival made its debut in 2016 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The sold-out show garnered so much acclaim that organizers Blackbird Presents, Mark Rothbaum and Nelson developed it into a hugely-popular touring franchise that has welcomed artists including Chris Stapleton, Neil Young, Luke Combs, Van Morrison, ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow, Eric Church, Bonnie Raitt, Tyler Childers and more over the years.

Tickets for this year’s tour go on sale to the general public on Friday (March 1) at 10 a.m. local time here . Citi is the official card of the tour, with Citi cardmembers having access to presale tickets on Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. local time until Feb. 29 at 10 a.m. local time through the Citi Entertainment program.

Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson Unite for Epic ‘Outlaw’ Summer Tour

Willie Nelson is hitting the road this summer on his annual Outlaw Music Festival Tour, and Bob Dylan is joining for all 26 shows. They’ll be accompanied on the first leg by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and John Mellencamp on the second. Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer, Celisse, and Southern Avenue will also be playing with them at various stops along the way. It kicks off June 21 in Alpharetta, Georgia.

“This year’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists,” Nelson said in a statement. “I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love.”

Dylan joined up with the Outlaw Festival for a couple of shows in 2017, but this is the first time he’s participated in the entire tour. His friendship with Nelson, however, goes back several decades. They co-wrote the song “Heartland” together in 1993.

In the summer of 2004, Nelson and Dylan played minor league baseball parks together all across America. In 2009, they brought John Mellencamp along for the ride when they repeated the concept. Dylan rarely shares the stage with other performers, but he frequently brought Nelson in 2004 for duets on “I Shall Be Released,” “Heartland,” and “Milk Cow Blues.” They first played together in 1976 when Nelson came out during a Rolling Thunder Revue stop in Houston for “Gotta Travel On.”

James and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy did have the chance to play with Dylan a few times though. They were brought out near the end of his set for the traditional folk song “Twelve Gates to the City,” and the Band’s “The Weight.” “His bass player, Tony [Garnier], did all the communicating with us as far as who was going to sing what verse,” James said. “They’d change keys literally a minute before we went on, like, ‘Bob wants to do it in E flat.’ It was really cool, and something I’ll be able to tell the grandkids about.”

If we’re lucky this summer, we might get to see Dylan, Nelson, Robert Plant, and Alison Krauss team up for a few songs. Plant played “Girl From the North Country” at many shows in the early 2000s. This could be his chance to perform it with the guy that wrote it.

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

Worth going.

Willie was great and opening band Asleep at the Wheel was fantastic. With it being 4-20-2024 lot of really high people in the crowd.

Great performance from a living legend. His vocals are not what they were, but a privilege to witness a living legend. Entertaining show of just over an hour in length.

I was so happy to finally see Willie. He was great.

Love the venue. Totally enjoyed Willie. Marshall Tucker opening up for him was a real treat as well.

Amazing show at the Berkeley Greek Theatre

First, we had really good seats so we could see Willie and his band mates very closely and enjoyed every minute of the show. Willie was out there the whole time and was involved in every song. It was amazing to see an icon so closely and to hear the sweet music and his voice in person. It was an amazing show, in my top 10 for sure. Thank you Willie & Friends!

A treasure in my heart

Asleep at the Wheel opened the show playing good old Western swing, which was just great! The break between acts wasn’t so very long at all. And Willie came on. I don’t think I stopped smiling once! His performance is a treasure I will hold in my heart forever. If there is anything I could change it would be to be able to hold a real paper ticket in my hand as of yore, to put the stub in my scrapbook as I have since 1964!

Wonderful show from the beginning to the end. Asleep at the Wheel was a fantastic opening act. Those who waited to arrive until the set was well underway missed a great performance. The ushers were great-helpful and cheerful. Even the ticket checkers were very pleasant.

Excellent show. Lights, sound and stage were all well coordinated. Plenty of visible security. Thoughts could be given about concession stands to minimize the very long lines of spectators trying to buy food and or drinks within a reasonable amonut of time.

Great performance at a Fav venue

An amazing performance by a true legend (including awesome supporting opener- Asleep At The Wheel). My first time back at the Greek for this season- one of my favorite venues anywhere. This was a seated show and perhaps a good thing with the median age of attendees being perhaps 68. I've been going to the Greek for over 3 decades so I knew to dress warmly and to be prepared to deal with the stairways in the amphitheater which have big concrete steps with no handrails- but many, many people in the is older crowd did not seem prepared and did well with navigating the stairs. (Pro Tip- if you're not steady on your feet and have 'seats' that are higher than row 8, consider using the steps OUTSIDE the bowl which are smaller and have handrails and entering the bowl from the top to get to the seats- and if you can't deal with stairs at all check to see if you qualify for ADA seating)

The concert was fun and glad to hear Willie. His voice is a little intermittent during the song but he can still belt it out. Only concern was the venue. As lovely as the Greek theater can be it is not conducive for an older crowd with assistive devices and mobility issues. Should tailor the venue to the crowd.

You will never go wrong seeing a living Legend. Willie had a great nite with everyone on their feet! I was just happy to be in his presence listening to my favorite songs. Asleep at the Wherl was icing on the cake.

Way back in May 2023, Aerosmith announced their ‘Peace Out Farewell Tour.’

However, after lead singer Steven Tyler sustained vocal damage just three shows into the tour last September, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group had to postpone the tour indefinitely.

Fans waited for months with nary any news until April 10.

On that date, the band officially announced the rescheduled dates for the ‘Peace Out Farewell Tour’ featuring The Black Crowes and Teddy Swims on select dates.

They made sure to include make-up dates in New York and New Jersey, too.

First, the “Walk This Way” rockers will swoop into Newark, NJ’s  Prudential Center  on Saturday, Dec. 28. After that, they’re slated to pop into New York’s  Madison Square Garden  on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 and Buffalo’s  KeyBank Center on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2025.

What might be most exciting about the goodbye jaunt though is just how affordable tickets are.

At the time of publication, ticket prices start at $49 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows have seats starting anywhere from $58 to $148 before fees.

The original Aerosmtih lineup won’t be fully intact on this run of concerts.

Yes, lead singer Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton and rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford are slated to perform at all shows.

However, drummer Joey Kramer will be sitting this run of shows out to “focus his attention on his family and health” according to  AP News .

Kramer, 72, will be replaced by John Douglas who has drummed with the band since 2019.

The Black Crowes

On all dates except their opener when they’ll perform with Teddy Swims, Aerosmith will be joined by  The Black Crowes  aka Rolling Stone’s “best new band of 1990.”

The band, known for mega hits “Hard To Handle” and “She Talks To Angels,” is also conducting a solo tour of their own this year including a show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on April 27.

Steven Tyler controversy

In 1973, the 25-year-old Tyler was given guardianship of 16-year-old Julia Holcomb so the two could live together.

After a tumultuous three-year relationship, the two broke up.

Nearly 50 years later, Holcomb — who now goes by Julia Misley — filed a lawsuit in December 2022. In the suit, she claimed Tyler sexually assaulted her, forced her to abort their child, and convinced her to drink and take drugs after he promised to serve as her guardian.

In the trial, Tyler alleged the relationship was consensual and had immunity because of his guardian status.

Legal experts have since said “caregiver immunity” does not exist if you sexually abuse the person you’ve taken in.

“The lawsuit came in the final days of California’s Child Victims Act, which temporarily lifted the statute of limitations for survivors of childhood sexual abuse to come forward with their allegations,”  Consequence of Sound  reported.

Jeanne Bellino, another minor that was sexually abused by Tyler in the 1970s, also filed a lawsuit against him; US District Judge Lewis Kaplan threw the case out this February because she “had waited too long to sue Tyler under a New York City law protecting victims of gender-motivated violence,”  Reuters  wrote.

“(Kaplan) said Bellino did not qualify for a two-year window to pursue claims that would otherwise extend beyond statutes of limitations, because she did not allege that Tyler’s conduct posed a “serious risk of physical injury.”

Willie Nelson Adds A Slew Of New 2024 Tour Dates

On the road again…

Willie Nelson just announced a run of new tour dates for 2024, which will kick off in April in San Diego, California, and run through May in Camdenton, Missouri.

The red headed stranger will turn 91 years young in April too, and it’s beyond impressive that he’s still willing and able to get out on tour and continue to perform for fans all over the country.

He typically goes on an extensive run through the summer with his Outlaw Music Festiva l tour, which usually includes a group of kickass openers, so it’s likely that he has more dates coming down the pipeline at some point this year too.

In 2023, Nelson released two studio albums in I Don’t Know A Thing About Love and Bluegrass , and was celebrated for his 90 years of living with a massive, very well-deserved, star-studded two day concert at The Hollywood Bowl.

Just a few days shy of his 91st birthday, Willie Nelson was in fine form at the Santa Barbara Bowl on April 24, showing off why he’s been one of America’s foremost musical icons for close to a century. From the moment he dramatically put his red, white and blue guitar strap around his neck and a giant American flag came down as a backdrop, during his entire seated performance, Willie made all of us smile and stand at attention, at least metaphorically.

Backed by his longtime touring and recording band The Family, the set list of familiar favorites included a mix of covers — “Whiskey River” (apparently his traditional opening song), “Stay a Little Longer,” “Always on my Mind,” “Good Hearted Woman,” “Move it on Over,” “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Help Me Make it Thru the Night,” “Fast Train to Georgia,” “Georgia On My Mind,” and “It’s Hard to Be Humble,” — and Willie’s own compositions — “Write Your Own Songs,” “Still is Still Moving to Me,” “Bloody Mary Morning,” “I Never Cared for You,” “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Be Cowboys,” “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground,” and “On the Road Again” among others.

To the enthusiastic singalong crowd’s ears, whatever youthful vigor he once played with was more than made up for by his unfiltered tenacity, pure talent, and heartfelt vocals. And it’s hard not to be charmed by a 90-year-old singing “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me” — especially when you know that Willie, a famous fan of reefer who started the cannabis company Willie’s Reserve in 2015, really means it! 

Prior to the show, I don’t think I realized quite how impressive his song catalog is. Though this was my first time seeing Willie Nelson live, memories of hearing his music sung at backyard gatherings and on camping trips came flooding back. I’ve been listening to songs like “On the Road Again,” and “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Be Cowboys” — not to mention the Willie-penned classic “Crazy,” made famous by Patsy Cline — for what feels like my whole life . When he brought his family (including an adorable granddaughter) up onstage for the last few songs, including  “Will the Circle Be Unbroken / I’ll Fly Away,” it was a suitable ending to his solid but somewhat short set. (I believe he played the contracted 75 minute show to the minute.)

But as writer Turk Pipkin aptly said about Nelson, “he united the hippies and the rednecks” — and he united the Santa Barbarans too. It felt like we were all family at the Bowl that night, just singing around the campfire together to our favorite Willie Nelson tunes.
