Travel + Leisure / Brian Kopinski

What's the best bra for travel? That depends on who you ask — not to mention where you're going, the weather forecast, and what activities are on the itinerary. In any case, comfort is crucial.

"Small details can make a big difference in how comfortable a bra is," says ThirdLove co-founder and chief creative officer Ra'el Cohen. She recommends soft, stretchy fabrics and "tagless, itch-free labels."

With this in mind, we searched high and low to find bras for every preference, outfit, occasion, and bust size. From classic underwire designs with ample support to non-restricting wire-free bralettes and everything in between, there's something here for everyone.

Best Overall

Honeylove silhouette bra.

This best-seller shapes, lifts, and supports without an underwire, plus it has removable padding and straps that can be worn two ways.

If you're in between sizes, the brand recommends ordering a size down.

Our top choice comes from Honeylove. The brand's best-selling Silhouette Bra is designed to provide shape and contouring to compliment your natural curves. Instead of a traditional metal underwire, it has a bonded underbust to lift, while the 3D-printed velvet adds support on all sides and separates to prevent a uni-boob look.

The back closure and shoulder straps are adjustable. You can leave the shoulder straps as-is or criss-cross them when wearing a racerback tank. Adding to the overall versatility, the cup pads are also removable. This bra generally runs true to size, but if you're in between, Honeylove suggests ordering the smaller size.

The Details: XS to 3X | Nylon, spandex | Hand wash, line dry

Best Budget

Hanes comfortflex fit wireless bra.

It's not only affordable but also soft, comfy, and breathable with a barely-there feel.

The straps aren't very durable, so don't be surprised if the bra needs replacing sooner than later.

This T-shirt bra from Hanes won't run you more than $20. Made of soft, flexible materials with mesh at the center and sides, the tagless design boasts an ultra-lightweight, barely-there feel and breathable comfort. Though wire-free, it still offers plenty of support and shape with its lightly lined foam cups.

The straps can be worn straight or criss-crossed to stay hidden under different shirt styles. However, they aren't the most durable, so you might have to replace your bra within the first year.

The Details: S to 3XL | Nylon, spandex | Machine wash warm

Best Investment

Thirdlove 24/7 classic t-shirt bra.

This T-shirt bra molds to your body, smooths your sides, and stays in place, thanks to the non-slip shoulder straps.

The pleated straps might create a rippled texture under thin or tight shirts.

If you're open to spending a bit more on a high-quality bra, ThirdLove won't let you down. The brand's super popular 24/7 Classic T-Shirt Bra has thin memory foam padding in the cups that molds to the shape of your body, while the smoothing sides and back promise to stay invisible under your clothes.

You can rely on the non-slip shoulder straps to stay in place all day. The straps are pleated on the front to enhance flexibility, but we should note this could create a rippled texture if your shirt is a thinner material.

The Details: 32A to 44H | Nylon, spandex | Hand wash cold or machine wash in lingerie bag, air dry

Best Underwire

Soma intimates perfect coverage bra.

The plush and non-pokey Embraceable Bra provides support without sacrificing comfort.

It doesn't come in any A-cup sizes.

Prefer a classic underwire? Soma might be your best bet. The Embraceable Bra provides the support of underwire cups without an uncomfortably firm or pokey feeling. Made of supremely soft, stretchy, plush materials, it feels good against the skin and looks totally smooth under clothing.

You can adjust the back and shoulder straps for a more customized fit and cross the straps to accommodate racerback shirts. This bra is available in a pretty wide range of sizes, but it doesn't come in an A cup.

The Details: 32B to 42DDD | Nylon, spandex | Hand wash cold

Best Wireless

Victoria’s secret t-shirt lightly-lined full-coverage bra.

Victoria’s Secret

This comfy bra lifts, supports, and shapes with lightly lined, contoured cups.

The back strap will expand slightly with continued wear.

For those who don't like wires but also don't want to sacrifice support, we recommend this lightly lined option from Victoria's Secret. The contoured cups add just enough shape and lift without super thick padding.

With adjustable, crossable shoulder straps, this adaptable bra will work with almost any outfit. We also like that you can remove the cup liners for a lighter feel and more compact packing in a suitcase.

The Details: 32A to 44G | Cotton, modal, recycled polyester, elastane | Hand wash

Best Bralette

Harper wilde bliss triangle bralette.

Harper Wilde

The Bliss Triangle Bralette is super smooth and stretchy, offering just enough coverage on days when comfort is a top priority.

It doesn't offer much in terms of lift, and the back isn't adjustable.

Our favorite bralette comes from Harper Wilde. This one is made without wires, padding, foam, or contoured cups. Like loungewear for your bust, the Bliss Triangle Bralette is smooth, stretchy, and exceedingly soft, offering just enough coverage on days when all you want is to be comfy.

Although it doesn't provide as much lift or shape as others on our list, you can count on all-day comfort. And while you can't adjust the back, the shoulder straps can be tightened or loosened.

The Details: XL to 4XL | Nylon, elastane | Machine wash warm in lingerie bag, hang dry

Best T-Shirt Bra

Skims t-shirt bra.

The stretchy, lightly lined demi cups conform to your shape and promise to fit even if you're in between sizes.

Popular sizes and colors sell out frequently.

A T-shirt bra is one wardrobe staple you'll always be glad to have on a trip. We love this one from Skims. Like other pieces from the brand's fan-favorite Fits Everybody line, it's lightweight, incredibly comfortable, and endlessly versatile.

This bra has lightly lined demi cups with a flexible underwire that supports without digging into your skin. The cups also feature a stretchy material that's supposed to conform to your unique shape and fit your chest even if you're in between sizes.

The Details: 30A to 46H | Polyamide, elastane | Machine wash cold

Best for DD+ Cups

Savage x fenty cotton jersey unlined bra.

Savage X Fenty

This bra offers support with a traditional underwire and full-coverage cups while shaping your bust without unnecessary padding.

You may want to put  in the work to sign up for the monthly VIP paid membership to make it less expensive.

Savage X Fenty's inclusive size range goes all the way up to 46H — thanks, Rihanna. If you wear size DD or above, we recommend the Cotton Jersey Unlined Bra. It offers support with a traditional underwire and full-coverage cups while forgoing unnecessary padding.

The price is reasonable, if you ask us, but you can get it at a discounted rate by signing up for a VIP membership. That said, the paid membership is $60 a month, so it's only worth it if you want to frequently buy new items.

The Details: 30A to 46H | Cotton, nylon, spandex | Hand wash cold, line dry

Best for Small Busts

Subset organic cotton scoop bralette.

Offering support without flattening your chest, this bralette can be worn with casual clothes or activewear.

Hand washing is recommended, but you can easily do this in a home rental or even a hotel room.

Those with smaller busts should consider Subset (formerly Knickey). This bralette is made of organic cotton with some synthetic fibers blended in for added stretch and durability. Featuring a simple pullover design, a scoop neckline, and a ballet back, it can work as an everyday bra or a sports bra if you plan to get active.

But unlike most sports bras, it has curved seams down the front to provide support and subtle lift while preventing a flattened chest. We also appreciate that this bra can be rolled or folded compactly for easy packing.

The Details: XXS to 3XL | Organic cotton, elastane, tencel, polyester, spandex | Hand wash cold, hang dry

Most Versatile

Lively all-day plunge no-wire bra.

With supportive cups, removable padding, a plunging neckline, and convertible shoulder straps, this bra can be worn with any shirt.

If you're in between sizes, go up with the band or down with the cup.

In terms of versatility, Lively's All-Day Plunge Bra is hard to beat. Like a classic T-shirt bra but without the wires, it won't poke or dig into your skin but still provides plenty of support with the lightly lined demi cups. And you can remove the padding if you prefer a less bulky look or feel.

With a plunging neckline and convertible shoulder straps, you can wear this bra with V-necks, low-cut tops, racerback tanks, T-shirts, sweaters — you name it. We also like that the shoulder straps adjust in the front for easy fixes throughout the day.

The Details: 32A to 38DDD | Rayon, spandex

Most Supportive

Natori active underwire bra.

The Power Comfort Bra has full-coverage cups, a hidden underwire, and non-slip straps to keep everything in place while you're on the move.

It doesn't come in A or B cup sizes.

Natori's Power Comfort Bra isn't messing around. The exceptionally supportive design features full-coverage, two-ply cups that create a flattering shape without any thick padding. Meanwhile, a hidden underwire and non-slip straps keep everything in place while you're on the go and ensure a seamless, bump-free appearance.

The stretchy, durable material wicks away moisture, dries quickly, and provides UPF 50 sun protection. With that in mind, you can wear this bra on travel days, while working out, hiking, or even for a swim.

The Details: 32C to 40DDD | Nylon, elastane | Hand wash, line dry

Best Shaping

Evelyn & bobbie evelyn bra.

Evelyn & Bobbie

The seamless, wire-free Evelyn Bra offers dramatic lift while smoothing your sides and back to prevent bulges.

You can expect it to feel snug at first, then it'll mold to your shape after a few wears.

The Evelyn Bra is like a push-up bra but much more comfortable and less detectable underneath your clothes. Its seamless, wire-free design is structured to provide dramatic lift while adapting to your natural shape.

We like that the scalloped edges sit against your skin without cutting in, while the smoothing sides and back prevent bulges and telltale lines. What's more, this bra is made of a sweat-wicking fabric treated with antimicrobial protection, meaning it won't harbor bacteria that cause odors. Just a heads up, it'll feel tight at first, but after three wears, it'll mold to your body.

The Details: S to 3XL | Polyamide, elastane | Machine wash cold, lay flat to dry

Best Smoothing

True & co true body v neck bra.

Featuring wide straps and full coverage around the side and back, this seamless bra disappears under clothing and never digs into your skin.

The size range is somewhat limited.

This bra is made of a soft and flexible yet supportive fabric. With wide straps and full-coverage sides that seamlessly wrap around the back, it never digs into your skin and disappears under your clothes — no divots, bulges, or bulky seams to be seen.

The minimalist pullover style looks like a sports bra at first glance. But thanks to the contoured cups, it'll provide lift and enhance the shape of your bust rather than flattening it out.

The Details: XS to XL | Nylon, elastane | Hand wash, line dry

Best for Travel Days

Bombas ribbed seamless bralette.

This buttery-soft, ultra-stretchy bralette will keep you comfy when traveling from point A to point B.

The brand recommends ordering up if you're in between sizes.

Travel days can be unpredictable, with potential delays and limited space to get comfy. That's why it's always best to wear clothing that allows you to move freely or snuggle up if the occasion arises. Bombas is a great option for undergarments — we're particularly fond of their Ribbed Seamless Bralette.

Buttery-soft with excellent stretch, it basically feels like you're wearing nothing. Though the largest size is XXL, this bra is supposed to fit up to an F cup size. If you're in between sizes, the brand recommends sizing up.

The Details: XS/S to 2X | Nylon, modal, elastane | Machine wash cold, tumble dry low

Best Sustainable

Everlane the invisible bra.

Made from regenerated nylon, the Invisible Bra isn't just eco-friendly but it’s also flattering and comfortable.

It may not be supportive enough (or available in big enough sizes) for larger busts.

Everlane's Invisible Bra was made with comfort and versatility in mind. It has a low V-neckline, seamless cups, full-coverage sides, and a smoothing back. It can be worn with various tops and stays put when you move around.

We also like that it's made from Econyl®, a type of regenerated nylon sourced from recycled plastic bottles. Everlane has also reduced its supply chain use of virgin plastic by 90 percent.

The Details: XXS to XXL | Regenerated nylon, elastane | Machine wash cold, tumble dry low

Tips for Buying Bras for Travel

Prioritize comfort.

Keep comfort in mind when shopping around. "For women with a larger bust, that might mean an underwire bra that provides greater support," says Bare Necessities bra fit expert Tracy Freno. "However, many prefer to wear a wire-free bra that they won't feel as restricted in."

As Cohen notes, soft, stretchy, tagless designs are ideal. Thick straps and extra coverage around the sides and back can also help prevent a bra from digging into your skin. Before heading on your trip, try the bra on and wear it for a few hours to make sure it doesn't poke, rub, or chafe.

Consider versatility

Versatility is also crucial. Look for a bra you can wear with numerous outfits and shirt styles — think T-shirts, V-necks, sweaters, form-fitting shirts, and low-cut tops. It's also helpful to have straps that not only adjust but also can be removed or worn different ways, like criss-crossed to hide underneath a racerback shirt.

Additionally, moisture-wicking, odor-resistant fabrics will allow you to wear the bra multiple days on your trip without washing it. In some cases, one bra might be enough. Or you could wear one on travel days and pack another in your suitcase.

When choosing a bra for travel, look for comfort features. This could be soft, stretchy fabrics, sweat-wicking materials, breathable mesh panels, thick straps, or an all-around lightweight design. You might opt for a wire-free pullover style (like a bralette) or something slightly more supportive but still comfy, such as a wireless shaping bra with lightly lined cups.

If you're staying somewhere without a washer and dryer, you can hand wash your bra in the sink. Fill the sink with cold or lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild soap. Submerge the bra in the soapy solution, swirl it around for a minute, then let it soak for about 10 minutes. After that, rinse your bra with cold water, carefully squeeze the excess water out, and hang it up to air dry. (Removing the cup pads before washing will help it dry quicker.)

"I recommend a wireless bra," says Cohen. She adds that a versatile style that works under different outfits is ideal, as you may need to change at your destination. According to Fresno, the best option is a lounge-style bra you "might wear to relax at home that barely feels like you're wearing one at all." This could be a bralette, a wire-free shaping bra, or a lightly lined T-shirt bra with contoured cups.

The Necessity of a Good Travel Bra…

It’s no secret that an ill-fitting bra can ruin even the most picturesque day exploring a new city. But a well-chosen travel bra does more than just prevent discomfort. It enhances your travel experience by offering the right support as you dash through airports, hike up mountains, or dance at a local festival.

What Makes a Good Bra For Travel?

As with any other travel essential, there are a few key attributes that a travel bra should possess:

  • Comfort : After hours of exploring, you’ll need a bra that’s breathable, adjustable, and supportive. It should feel like a second skin, moving with you, not against you.
  • Durability : Travel can be tough on our clothes, and bras are no exception. Opt for high-quality materials and construction. A good travel bra should withstand multiple wears and washes without losing its shape or comfort.
  • Versatility : A bra that works with different outfits is worth its weight in gold. Be it a plunging neckline dress for a romantic dinner, a t-shirt for a city tour, or a tank top for a beach day, your bra should be able to keep up.
  • Easy maintenance : When you’re on the go, the last thing you need is high-maintenance clothing. A great travel bra should be easy to clean and quick-drying.
  • Security : Travel bras with hidden pockets are a secret weapon against pickpockets. Perfect for stashing extra cash or a copy of your passport!
  • Quick-drying: The ability to dry quickly is essential, especially if you need to wash your bra during your trip.
  • Moisture-wicking: Bras with moisture-wicking properties keep you dry and fresh, especially during hot and humid travel conditions.
  • Breathability: Look for bras that allow airflow to prevent excessive sweating and discomfort.
  • Odor resistance: Anti-odor bras are a bonus, ensuring you stay fresh even after prolonged wear.
  • Packability: Consider bras that are easy to fold and pack without losing their shape.

With these attributes in mind let’s looks at some of the best travel bras you can buy online right now.

best travel bra

Travel asks a lot of your wardrobe. Not only do your pieces have to fit well and be comfortable for all-day wear — including sitting in the plane, train, or car for hours on end — it has to not wrinkle or get damaged easily when stowed away, too. The best travel bras have the versatility to transition from day to night while staying comfortable and easy to pack.

For plane trips or any other travel that requires walking through a metal detector, it's important to consider if you want to wear an underwire bra through security or not. An underwire is fine to wear on board , according to the TSA, but some readers of TravelFashionGirl.com report regularly getting patted down in airports when wearing an underwire while others have not experienced this problem. However, there are plenty of wireless bras on the market that provide plenty of support if you'd rather not risk the hassle.

Next, consider the destination, wardrobe, and personal preference. For long trips or warm locales, quick-drying materials that are breathable and easy to wash are a big plus. And if your outfits have you considering a strapless bra, consider a convertible model you can wear in different ways throughout your trip.

With all that in mind, scroll on for the best travel bras on Amazon . These picks offer plenty of versatility, are easy to pack without damage, and are comfortable for hours on end. When you've picked what to bring, then comes the question of how to pack bras . For delicate ones, stacking your bras (perhaps even adding socks and underwear in between) will be the gentlest way to go. But those looking to save space may prefer to fold their bras in half.

The Best Travel Bras

Before traveling anywhere in the world, there are many things to think about, including a good travel bra. Here is our guide to the best travel bras.

The very Best Bras For Travel Bras PIN

When traveling anywhere in the world, you need to think about many different things before you go. For instance, you need to plan your route, you need to think about visa and passport issues, and you need to pack. Within all of that, you also need to figure out how to keep your most valuable possessions safe. Of course, you also need to be comfortable too!

Did you know that you can combine your comfort with safety at the same time?

Girls welcome to the world of travel bras.

Skip Ahead To My Advice Here!

What Is A Travel Bra?

As the name suggests, a travel bra is, first and foremost, a bra. We all need a bra. We need to be comfortable, we don’t need to feel like we can’t move, and we need to be supported. Some bras, however, serve a second purpose: keeping your credit cards, passport, and other small and essential items safe. This is through small, hidden pockets that are sewn into the bra. No, it won’t cause bulk or discomfort because it’s all designed to be super-streamlined. Clever, right?

On the other hand, some travel bras don’t have hidden pockets; they are designed to be super comfortable and supportive while moving around for long periods and packed down small .

Look at the specs below if you want a travel bra with pockets.

What To Look For In A Travel Bra

So, now you know you need a travel bra, what do you need to look for when purchasing one?

  • Budget : Obviously, you shouldn’t spend more than you can afford, so shopping around and sticking to your budget is important.
  • Colour options: Do you wear light-colored clothes more often? If you are someone who prefers to wear darker colors, you need a black or navy blue option so the light color underneath won’t show through your outfit. In that case, you need a nude or white colored bra.
  • Straps: What kind of straps does the bra have? Does it have thick straps or thin ones? This is a personal preference you need to consider when purchasing.
  • Is it convertible: Does the bra convert into a strapless option? Does it switch, so the straps cross over at the back to avoid strap lines when wearing racerback tops?
  • Is it suitable for exercising or hiking: How much support does the bra offer? If you’re doing sports or hiking, getting from A to B travel requires a bra that offers more support and padding than regular.
  • Space: How much space does the bra take up in your bag? Want to know how to pack bras for travel? Some travel bras can be bulky to pack, because of the space inside for storing things, so consider this. You also need to think about how much space is inside for storing your valuables, if it has this function, e.g.,g how many credit cards or debit cards does it hold?

What Makes A Good Bra For Travel?

What makes a good travel bra? A bra with all the above options and one you feel comfortable in. Shopping around is the only way to ensure all of that happens, but some excellent bras are on the market.

Choosing the best travel bra should, therefore, be comfortable and supportive; it shouldn’t look bulky or ugly and could offer you space to store a small number of valuable items too. If you are doing any strenuous activity, such as hiking, you should also look into a more sports-designed type of bra, perhaps with a little more compression support built-in.

Why Do You Need A Comfortable Bra For Travel?

When we’re traveling, we need to be comfortable and supported, and travel is none of those things when you’re wearing a cheap bra that offers zero support, and the straps keep falling. You might be enjoying active travel too, e.g., hiking or exercising; in that case, you need extra help too.

We mentioned that some travel bras have hidden pockets to keep your small valuables safe, but you can also cut down on the number of small bags you need to take with you by utilizing the space within the bra. For instance, do you want to take extra things in your bag while hiking? You might not have room.

For these reasons, a good quality, comfortable, versatile, and supportive travel bra is essential to your travel armory.

The Best, Most Comfortable Bras

Zoe Vanderweide

By Zoe Vanderweide

Zoe Vanderweide is a writer focused on style and accessories. She has personally tested nearly 300 bags, jeans, bras, shoes, and more.

An under-performing bra is a terrible thing. It can be hard on your psyche, your silhouette, your posture—the list goes on. Any bra you wear should be comfortable and well constructed; it should make you feel confident and supported, in every sense of the word.

After researching hundreds of bras and testing 43 of them in person, we’ve found seven that suit a slew of moods, bodies, and style preferences. They include a versatile everyday bra that’s available in half cup sizes; a sleek, unlined underwire bra ; a well-priced, full-coverage T-shirt bra ; an indulgently comfortable wireless bralette ; a more supportive adjustable wireless bralette for bigger busts ; a  barely there sheer mesh bralette ; and a smoothing minimizer .

How we picked

We chose popular bra styles with established track records that are likely to stick around for many years.

We sought out bras that come in at least sizes A to DDD with a 32- to 40-inch band and two shades of nude.

We considered bras in a wide assortment of styles—various cups, materials, and the like—that fit and flatter different shapes.

We preferred bras that buyers could return or exchange for free.

ThirdLove 24/7 Classic Uplift Plunge Bra

Uplifting and comfy.

This crowd-pleaser—available in a wider range of sizes than any of our other picks, including, crucially, half cup sizes—offers outstanding comfort and a subtle push-up. It has small removable pads and a deep plunge, so it works with many different necklines.

Buying Options

The ThirdLove 24/7 Classic Uplift Plunge Bra is a top-drawer staple that all of our testers, ranging in bra sizes from 34A to 34F, loved. We reached for this unusually comfortable and versatile bra again and again. It comes in a wide range of sizes, including half cup sizes, improving your chances of a good fit. As one Wirecutter supervising editor put it: “ This is the only bra I’ve ever worn that I don’t fling across the room as soon as I get home .”

It’s comfy and supportive. The 24/7 Classic Uplift bra offers support and a subtle lift without the unpleasant digging that often accompanies an underwire. (ThirdLove bills it as a push-up, but we’d describe its effect as more of a gentle boost.) Its adjustable straps and band feel silky-smooth, and its molded cups are made of a thin, lightweight memory foam that molds to the body without gaping.

It comes in half cup sizes. ThirdLove’s bra is the only one in our test group that offers half sizes (32D½, 36A½, and the like) for a better fit. Note that while the 24/7 Classic Uplift bra is available in band sizes 32 to 44 and cup sizes from AA to H, the half-size options are more limited, extending from A½ to E½, with varying availability across band sizes 32 to 38.

The cups themselves are covered in a fine-mesh overlay, which helps curb minor gaping and spillage; our 34F tester marveled at how this bra smoothed her silhouette and prevented a “double bubble” bulge at the top of the cup. The 24/7 Classic Uplift bra fit our 34A, 34F, and 36D testers equally well, and they gave it ratings of four, five, and five (out of five), respectively.

The plunging neckline doesn’t peek out of tops. True to its name, the 24/7 Classic Uplift bra has a deep V-shape that remains incognito under low-cut tops. One of our testers, who typically wears a 34A, loved the 24/7 Classic Uplift’s “taller, more angular cups.”

It has removable pads. The 24/7 Classic Uplift bra comes with a pair of small oval pads that you can tuck into a slot in the lower portion of each cup for just a bit of extra oomph.

In theory, the pads could also help create symmetry if you have uneven breasts, since you can wear just one. How effective that actually is depends on lots of factors, including the size difference between your breasts and how your breast tissue is distributed. (It didn’t work particularly well for our size 36D lopsided tester, who ultimately preferred to forgo the pads altogether.)

Flaws but not dealbreakers

  • The 24/7 Classic Uplift bra’s color selection includes only two nude shades, both of which are light; this is limiting if you’re looking to match darker skin.
  • Not every cup size is offered for every band size, and the availability of half cup sizing is even more limited.
  • While our 34F and 36D testers found the 24/7 Classic Uplift bra comfortable, its thin straps and light construction may not provide enough support for larger, heavier busts.
  • The removable pads are small and don’t deliver much impact.
  • Sizes: 32A to G, 34AA to H, 36A to H, 38A to H, 40B to G, 42B to F, 44B to E (including some half cup sizes)
  • Colors: six colors, including black, taupe, blue-gray, and rose dust

A closeup, from the shoulder to breasts of a person wearing Cuup The Scoop Micro in brown.

Cuup The Scoop Micro

An unlined everyday bra.

This bra is so lightweight that you’ll probably forget you’re wearing it, yet its underwire band and wide straps provide plenty of support. The thin, silky material shows sweat easily, but it comes out in the wash.

The Cuup The Scoop Micro is an unpadded bra that delivers a natural look, but with the support of underwire. All of our testers, who wear various sizes, found something to like about it. In choosing this bra, you get more lift and separation than you would wearing a bralette or going au naturel, yet it still feels as light as air.

It has a barely there look and feel. The Scoop’s silky, unlined cups are so lightweight that it almost feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. Testers with smaller bra sizes, in particular, praised The Scoop’s slinky, minimal design, and our 34A tester rated it a five out of five.

The Scoop disappears well under clothing. Its band is smooth and seamless, and its wide, thin straps lie flat on the shoulders; it’s especially good underneath tank tops or thin blouses. Plus, it comes in an inclusive range of five nude hues.

The fabric of the Micro model that we tested is made from polyamide and elastane. The Scoop also comes in two other fabric models, Modal and Lace , which we have not tested.

It’s light, but it doesn’t sacrifice support. Despite its airy feel, The Scoop has structure. Its adjustable band and sturdy underwire keep breasts lifted, separated, and supported, and its wide, adjustable straps add to its comfort.

Even testers with larger busts found it secure and supportive—our 34F tester rated it a four out of five. Another tester, who wears a 36D, marveled, “I rarely get to rock the more natural look, but I can with this bra, because of the well-built band and straps. The cups aren’t molded, but they still lift and shape in a really flattering way.”

It’s well constructed. The Scoop has a luxurious, high-quality feel. Most of the stitching is hidden on the underside of the bra, creating a sleek, smooth silhouette, and our testers didn’t find any loose threads or uneven stitching. Though the satiny, polyamide-blend material of the Micro model is thin—and showed sweat and deodorant stains easily—it retained its shape well and didn’t stretch out throughout the day, as unlined bras tend to do.

  • The Scoop Micro’s silky fabric readily shows sweat and other stains.
  • If you prefer more nipple coverage, look elsewhere—the thin material reveals every contour.
  • Sizes: A to H cup, 30- to 44-inch band
  • Colors: over a dozen colors, including light brown, medium brown, dark brown, black, blush, and clay, plus a selection of limited-edition colors; also available in a Modal model in five colors and a Lace model in three colors

A person wearing the Harper Wilde Base Bra.

Harper Wilde Base T-Shirt Bra

An inexpensive bra that won’t quit.

This budget-friendly bra creates a smooth, defined silhouette and comfortably supports breasts through whatever the day throws at you. The deep cups made it one of our favorite bras for larger busts, so it’s a bummer that the sizing doesn’t go beyond an F cup.

The Harper Wilde Base T-Shirt Bra is a pleasure to wear all day long, especially if you have larger breasts or just prefer fuller coverage and more support. Our testers appreciated its sturdy construction, easy-to-adjust straps, and stylish criss-cross design. And it’s a bargain, to boot: This is one of our least expensive picks.

It’s supportive and pillowy soft. Wearing this bra feels like curling up in a favorite armchair—it’s made from a smooth microfiber fabric that’s supple and inviting, with lightly lined, molded cups that gently cradle breasts. The underwire supports without digging into skin, and the sleek, stretchy band lies perfectly flat. While our testers generally praised the amount of support that the Base provided, one Wirecutter staffer who purchased this bra actually found it a bit overzealous, and returned it—in two sizes—due to an unwanted push-up effect.

Its deep cups are great for larger breasts. The Base bra’s full-coverage silhouette keeps you comfortably contained, with no spillage over the tops and sides of the cups. Our testers who wear sizes 34F and 42D rated it four and five (out of five), respectively.

It worked well for smaller sizes, too. Our 34A tester enjoyed wearing it on days when she wanted more coverage; she rated it a five.

Adjusting it is easy. Cleverly, the strap-adjustment sliders for the Base bra are located on the front rather than the back, so you can move them up and down without having to reach behind your back. (This design should be standard.)

A small hook on the back of the bra allows you to switch the slender straps into a racerback design to create extra support or to keep them from sliding down your shoulders.

Stylish details set it apart. The gore (the part of the bra that joins the two cups) has a unique, criss-cross design. It adds some visual flair but also helps to keep the band flat against the body and to keep the breasts separated and defined. Finally, though the Base bra is definitely full-coverage—no chance of a nip-slip here—its deep neckline and wide-set straps stay hidden under low-cut tops and allow for some airflow.

  • Although this bra is supportive, its straps are thinner than those on our picks from Cuup and Soma ; some people may prefer thicker straps.
  • This bra comes in sizes up to an F cup and a 42-inch band. Considering how well-suited it is for larger busts, we wish more extended sizes were available.
  • Sizes: A to F cup, 32- to 44-inch band
  • Colors: nine colors, including beige, tan, brown, and black, plus a selection of limited-edition colors

A person wearing the Harper Wilde Bliss Bra.

Harper Wilde Bliss Bralette

Effortless comfort.

This pull-on, wire-free bralette is made for relaxing. It’s constructed of smooth, pleasantly stretchy material that gently swaddles the body and provides medium support—but it’s not adjustable, and it can have a boob-flattening effect.

For the ultimate in comfort and ease, nothing beats a bralette. The Harper Wilde Bliss Bralette offers the best combination of comfort, coverage, style, and quality that we’ve found. It’s ideal for lounging—or even sleeping—but it’s also supportive enough to wear when you’re out and about.

Since we first published this guide, Harper Wilde has come out with the Bliss Triangle Bralette , which is made from the same sumptuously soft fabric as the original Bliss but is cut in a deeper, flattering V-shape. We have been testing the Bliss Triangle, and so far like it just as much as, if not more than, the classic Bliss style; it does a better job of defining and separating the breasts, and it has adjustable straps. We will be collecting additional feedback on it from other testers with a range of body types, and will update this guide accordingly with our findings.

It’s soft and stretchy. The Bliss bralette’s silky-smooth nylon-elastane microfiber fits like a second skin. “It’s classy-looking and comfortable,” said one panelist, who wears a 36D. It comes in three shades of nude as well as black, so many people can find a shade to match their skin tone.

It offers medium support. Our testers, who wear sizes 34A, 34F, 36D, and 42D, all raved about the Bliss bralette’s performance, giving it overall scores of five, four, five, and five (out of five), respectively. The wide, stretchy band offers more support than you get from a typical bralette—though if you have heavy breasts, the Bliss bralette is probably better for loafing around than gallivanting.

The Bliss bralette is far less constricting than a sports bra, and its curvy seaming is flattering and creates less uniboob than other, similarly styled bralettes. But it does flatten breasts a bit, and it doesn’t define, separate, or enhance. One Wirecutter staffer who otherwise liked this bra attempted to troubleshoot the issue by wearing it with her own removable cups, to no avail—the ultra-slinky material caused the cups to keep shimmying their way out.

It has an elegant cut. The Bliss bralette offers full coverage, but its plunging neckline and back make it more wearable under low-cut tops than many other bralettes. It does peek out from wide or particularly deep necklines, however.

This is a pull-on style, so it doesn’t have any finicky hardware, and its under-bust seam provides a light lift.

It’s nicely made. The stitching on the Bliss bralette is straight and even, and the seams around the arm holes, neckline, and band lie flat and blend in fluidly with the rest of the material, so they’re barely visible through clothing. After multiple washes and wears in our tests, the Bliss bralette looked practically new.

  • The Bliss bralette doesn’t define and separate breasts, and it can have a flattening effect.
  • It isn’t available in as many sizes as some other bras we found, and its band and straps aren’t adjustable—so once it stretches out, you can’t tighten it.
  • Sizes: XS to 6XL (A to DDD/F cup, 30- to 50-inch band)
  • Colors: 11 colors, including beige, tan, brown, and black, plus a selection of limited-edition colors

A person wearing the Negative Sieve Non-Wire Bra.

Negative Sieve Non-Wire Bra

A barely there bralette.

This sultry, sophisticated wire-free bralette is made of a fine, peekaboo mesh that’s soft and stretchy. Unlike many bralettes, it has an adjustable band and straps that allow you to fine-tune the fit, but it provides only light support.

The Negative Sieve Non-Wire Bra is a sultry take on a lounge bralette that offers just a smidgen more lift than going braless. It’s an appealing option if you don’t need a ton of support but don’t want to ditch bras altogether. Plus, its sheer mesh and clean lines give it a sexy, modern look that’s pretty hard to resist.

It’s see-through and unlined. The Sieve bralette is constructed from a single layer of luxe-feeling fine mesh that reveals a hint of nipple. It has a gently V-shape neckline and is minimally structured, with no wires, pads, or lining. A thin seam down the center helps to define and separate breasts, and side seams add some subtle shaping.

It’s light and breathable. The Sieve’s mesh fabric is delicate, slightly stretchy, and quite comfortable against the skin. One tester said this bralette reminded her of the barely there ballet bras she used to wear as a dancer. A Wirecutter senior editor also told us she’s been wearing the Sieve bralette for several years and loves how comfortable it is. She recently bought more after six years of wearing her original purchase.

The seams around the arms, band, and neckline of the Sieve are cleanly stitched and lie flat, and the thin, ribbonlike straps are made from a sturdy, silky fabric. And though the mesh material is airy and light, it’s far from flimsy; one staffer’s Sieve bralette has been through the tumble dryer a few times and emerged unscathed.

It offers minimal support. The Sieve bralette provides a featherlight lift, making some small breasts look perky. Our 34A tester loved the fit and gave it a score of five out of five. Another Wirecutter staffer, who wears a 36A or 36B depending on the brand, had a different experience, as she found that this bralette’s lack of heft had the effect of gently smothering her breasts rather than boosting them, making them appear smaller and lower. The thin, stretchy band and ribbonlike straps don’t offer much lift for large boobs, and our 36D tester didn’t find the Sieve bralette supportive enough.

The straps are adjustable, and the band has four rows of hooks, so you can get a more customized fit than with some other bralettes we tested.

  • This bralette might be too flimsy and unsupportive for some people, especially those with bigger busts.
  • Negative sizes its bras from 0 to 5 in place of letter cup sizes and numbered band sizes, so you need to consult its size chart to find your fit.
  • Negative charges a $5 shipping/restocking fee for returns.
  • Sizes: 0 to 5 (A to DD cup, 30- to 42-inch band) and plus sizes +1 to +5 (DDD to G cup, 30- to 40-inch band)
  • Colors: 10 colors, including black, light brown, peach, and slate blue

A person wearing the Soma Embraceable Full Coverage Wireless Unlined Bra.

Soma Embraceable Full Coverage Wireless Unlined Bra

A bralette with larger size options.

With sizes starting at 34C, this bra comes in larger options than any other wire-free bralette we tested, and its band and straps are adjustable for a customized fit. Because it’s so sturdy and structured, you may notice its pronounced seams under tighter clothing.

If you have large breasts, you might have given up on the quest to find a wire-free bralette that can give you enough coverage and support. But the Soma Embraceable Full Coverage Wireless Unlined Bra is that unicorn: soft, smooth, and blissfully underwire-free, with the sturdy construction and adjustability necessary to comfortably accommodate a bigger bust.

It’s simultaneously supportive and wire-free. The Embraceable bralette is structured enough to lift and shape bigger breasts without digging or discomfort. The support comes from its wide band and sturdily constructed straps. Unlike most bralettes, the Embraceable bralette has three rows of hooks on the band and sliders on the straps, so you can adjust it for a correct, secure fit. It’s available in cup sizes from C to H and band sizes from 34 to 44—a wider range of larger sizes than most of our picks.

Our testers, wearing sizes 34F and 42D, gave it scores of five and four (out of five), respectively. “I don’t do underwires, and this bra gives me great support without one,” said senior staff writer Rose Maura Lorre, who wears a size 38DD.

As the name promises, it feels like a soft hug. The Embraceable bralette is as comfy as any of our bralette picks—which is to say, very. Its breathable nylon-spandex material has the velvety texture of microsuede, and the wide, stretchy band is made from brushed elastic for extra softness.

It gives you a natural, streamlined silhouette. The neckline of the Embraceable bralette plunges into a deep V, which flows into a pronounced center seam that creates a bit of extra separation between the breasts. The seaming can be visible under some thinner clothing.

The cups, though fully opaque, are unlined and unmolded. “This bra gives my boobs a natural shape without making them look bigger,” said one Wirecutter staffer, who wears a 38DD. A thin sling of fabric sewn into the outer corner of each cup provides some side-boob shaping, while the full-coverage, leotard-style back helps to smooth out lumps and bulges.

  • The seams on this bralette are bulkier than those on some of our other picks, and they may be visible under thin materials.
  • Bold colors are part of the fun of bralettes—we’d like to see the Embraceable style come in some more out-there color options.
  • Sizes: C to H cup, 34- to 44-inch band
  • Colors: light brown, medium brown, mauve, black

A person wearing the Bali Passion For Comfort Minimizer Bra.

Bali Passion for Comfort Underwire Bra

A comfortable minimizer.

This supportive, silky-feeling bra effectively flattens a full bust—which is the main point of a minimizer—and it’s more comfortable and less restrictive than other minimizers we tried. Plus, it’s a total bargain.

Minimizer bras are not known for their exquisite comfort. When it comes to this notoriously tough-to-shop category, we still aren’t convinced that a perfect choice exists, but the Bali Passion for Comfort Underwire Bra is the closest we’ve found. It provides a lot of hold, but it’s loads comfier than the other minimizers we tried. It’s also refreshingly inexpensive.

It’s the most comfortable minimizer we tested. Minimizers smooth the appearance of fuller busts by flattening and redistributing breast tissue rather than emphasizing cleavage. Overall, our panelists didn’t love wearing this type of bra—none of them wear minimizers in their daily lives. But of the styles in this category that we tried, the Passion for Comfort bra was by far the favorite.

Whereas many minimizers are restrictive, this one feels more like a regular bra while still fulfilling its purpose.

The Passion for Comfort bra has unpadded, lightly lined cups made from sleek, lustrous nylon-spandex fabric that’s soft and breathable against the skin, and its straps and band are pleasantly stretchy. Our testers, wearing sizes 34F, 36D, and 42D, gave it overall scores of four, three, and three (out of five), respectively.

It’s also the most attractive minimizer we found. A lot of minimizers look a tad old-fashioned, but the Passion for Comfort bra looks contemporary. Though it’s understated, it has a touch of lace detailing on the straps and gore.

The scooped neckline allows it to work well under most tops, and the under-bust seam is hidden inside the cups, so it stays smooth and is less visible through clothing.

It’s sturdily constructed for a supportive fit. The bra’s encased underwire and extra-wide straps provide lots of support for larger busts, and its strong, strategically placed seams hold breasts firmly in place. Cup sizing starts at C. The band has three rows of hooks and is available in a wide range of sizes (from 34 to 44), and the straps are also adjustable for a secure fit.

  • Testers gave this bra a score of three out of five, the lowest average of any of our picks, but it was by far the best-liked minimizer we tried.
  • Sizes: C to G cup, 34- to 44-inch band
  • Colors: more than a dozen (including black and six nude shades), with various patterns and lace details

Underwire bras

If you want an affordable, smoothing bra that comes in lots of colors: The Aerie Smoothez Full Coverage Lightly Lined Bra is made of a soft, nylon-elastane material with smooth, barely visible seams. It has supportive underwire and an adjustable band, and it comes in cup sizes from A to G, band sizes from 30 to 42 inches, and more than a dozen colors.

If you want a sexy, splurgy lace bra: The Journelle Anais Plunge Bra is a pricey, exquisitely beautiful bra wrapped in fine Leavers lace (one of the most expensive types of lace). It has a kitten-soft velveteen lining, and it’s as supportive as it is beautiful, though it can get a little itchy. This bra used to be an official pick, but it comes in a limited range of band sizes, from 30 to 36, and although its cup sizing goes up to a G, the largest cup size available with a 36-inch band is a D. We also found that it runs small.

If you want a sheer mesh bra with support: Like our Negative Sieve Non-Wire Bra pick , the Negative Sieve Demi Bra is made from fine, airy mesh material—but this version offers the extra lift of an underwire. Though we preferred the ease of the wire-free version, the Sieve Demi Bra is still stretchy and surprisingly comfortable. It flattered a variety of breast shapes in our testing, but its sizing (B to G cup, 32- to 40-inch band) is a little limited.

If you want to stock up on everyday bras from a favorite brand: ThirdLove, creator of our ThirdLove 24/7 Classic Uplift Plunge Bra pick, has a knack for making bras that we like. The ThirdLove 24/7 Perfect Coverage Bra is a full-coverage bra with wide, sturdy straps, while the ThirdLove 24/7 Classic T-Shirt Bra is a lightweight, everyday bra with pleated straps. Neither felt quite as versatile as the 24/7 Classic Uplift bra, but they’re both well-made, supportive, soft, and comfortable. They’re available in a wide range of sizes: The Perfect Coverage bra comes in B to H cup sizes and a 32- to 44-inch band, while the Classic T-Shirt bra ranges from A to H cup and from 32 to 44 inches.

Wire-free bras

If you want a pull-on T-shirt bra that offers light shaping: The Aerie Sunnie Wireless Lightly Lined Bra delivers the shaping and definition of a more structured bra but feels more like a bralette. Without an underwire, hooks, or visible seams, it lies flat and doesn’t show under formfitting clothing. This bra was a former pick, but in subsequent tests we’ve found that it’s not supportive enough for large breasts, and the non-adjustable and not particularly stretchy band can feel tight and uncomfortable. It comes in four colors (including only one light shade of nude), cup sizes from A to DDD, and band sizes from 30 to 40 inches.

If you want a selection of basic, comfortable, and inexpensive wire-free bras: The stretchy, unstructured Bali Comfort Revolution ComfortFlex Fit Wireless Bra , the pull-on Bali Comfort Revolution Easylite Seamless Bralette (also called the Easylite Wirefree Bra), and the softly shaping Bali Double Support Soft Smoothing Wirefree Bra , which has adjustable straps, are the height of comfort. They’re supple and soft, so they’re perfect for lounging, and they come in many colors and sizes. However, they’re a bit dowdy compared with our wire-free picks.

If you want a cute and comfy lace bralette that comes in a wide range of sizes: The Cosabella Never Say Never Sweetie Bralette comes in petite , curvy , super curvy , ultra curvy , and extended sizes (to fit cup sizes A to L and band sizes 28 to 40 inches) and myriad colors, and it is one of the most comfortable lace bras we tested. Although the band is wire-free and non-adjustable, the bralette’s broader-than-average straps provide a surprising amount of support. We preferred the shapes of our bralette picks, which provide more lift, but this one remains a solid option.

If you want an adjustable bralette with a deep plunge: The Everlane Invisible Bra is made from a smooth, stretchy material similar to that of our Harper Wilde Bliss Bralette pick . The Invisible bralette has a supportive, 2-inch-wide band and provides plenty of coverage despite its deep-plunging V neckline. Unlike the Bliss bralette, it has pleasantly sturdy, adjustable straps—a nice feature. Plus, it’s relatively inexpensive. Our main complaint is its limited selection of colors (five) and sizes (from XXS to XXL, roughly equivalent to 30AA to 40D).

If you want a smoothing, adjustable bra with gently molded cups: Put on the Natori Bliss Perfection Contour Soft Cup Bra , and you’ll forget you’re wearing it—it’s terrific. Across the board, our testers enjoyed this bra’s smoothing double-layered fabric, ballet back, and gently contoured cups, which produced a flattering silhouette. Alas, the lace wasn’t attached securely enough to the band; during testing, we noticed that it started to pull away from the bra. This bra is available in five colors, but its sizing (A to DDD cup, 30- to 38-inch band) is fairly limited.

If you want a stretchy, seamless bralette with removable padding: The True & Co. True Body Lift Scoop Neck Bra has a shape that flatters numerous body types, as well as removable padding in the cups, but we wish it had an adjustable band and straps. It’s made of a stretchy, liquid-like fabric that has few seams, making it especially comfortable to wear.

If you want an ultrasoft, gently boosting push-up bra (that’s inexplicably headed for extinction): The True & Co. True Body Wirefree Push Up Bra was a previous pick for the best push-up bra. Unfortunately, it’s being phased out, but it’s still available on Amazon at this writing. (So get to steppin’.) This comfortable, wire-free push-up doesn’t create dramatic cleavage, but it lifts and highlights curves without feeling corset-like. Its padded cups are pillowy soft, and its silky-smooth material conforms seamlessly to the body. It comes in cup sizes from A to DDD and band sizes from 32 to 36.

As research for this guide, we interviewed Cora Harrington, author of In Intimate Detail: How to Choose, Wear, and Love Lingerie ; Jaclyn Fredenburg , an instructor at Fashion Institute of Technology who specializes in undergarments; Dr. Andrea Madrigrano , a breast surgeon at Rush University Medical Center; and Holly Powell, owner of The Pencil Test , a lingerie store in Portland, Oregon.

We also spoke with Doug Farmer, an end-use research fellow at The Lycra Company at the time of our interview; Majid Sarmadi, PhD , a professor of materials science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Human Ecology ; and Colleen Hill, a museum curator at FIT and author of Exposed: A History of Lingerie .

A great bra can make you feel more confident and comfortable. If your current bra is less supportive than it used to be, or your size has changed, it’s time for a new one.

Jaclyn Fredenburg, an FIT instructor who specializes in undergarments, told us that a bra can help with posture, back pain, and even breathing. “For large-busted women, the right bra will help get the weight of the breast tissue off of the rib cage,” said Fredenburg.

Bras also help prevent sweat from accumulating beneath the bust, which can cause rashes or sores, noted breast surgeon Dr. Andrea Madrigrano. And, of course, bras play an aesthetic role, accentuating curves and providing nipple coverage.

In addition to the bras we recommend here, we have separate guides to the best sports bras , nursing bras , and pumping bras . For chest binders, Reviewed , Bustle , and The Lingerie Addict offer some good suggestions, and you can check out options for trans-friendly or gender-neutral bras, limited-mobility adaptive bras , or mastectomy bras .

We began by considering hundreds of bras, pitting industry titans such as Bali and Wacoal against startups like Cuup and Harper Wilde.

To narrow the field, we interviewed seven experts, pored over retailer websites, and scoured online reviews and forums, including the passionate A Bra That Fits subreddit.

We concluded that our bra picks should tick the following boxes:

  • Mainstay models: We avoided limited-edition bras (like those from Savage X Fenty ) because they tend to sell out quickly and get replaced with different styles.
  • Inclusive size range: We prioritized bras that come in at least sizes A to DDD with a 32- to 40-inch band (or XS to XXXL for bralettes).
  • Different style and material options: We chose bras in a variety of cup styles and fabrics that would flatter and support various body types.
  • Easy return policy: Since finding the right fit can be hard, we gave preference to bras that the buyer could return or exchange for free within a reasonable time period.
  • Good value: We set the price cap for our test group at $150 per bra, but most of our picks cost far less. Spending more doesn’t guarantee that a bra will look better, feel comfier, or last longer.

Because no two boobs are alike—even your own—we recruited a panel of Wirecutter staffers to help with testing. Our main panelists wore sizes 34A, 34F, 36D, and 42D; at least two of our four testers tried on each bra, wearing it for at least an hour. They assessed factors such as comfort, fit, support, construction, and style, and they gave each bra an overall rating from one to five, with five being the highest.

Since we first published this guide, we have continued to test bras and solicit feedback from Wirecutter staffers.

The Cacique Smooth Boost Plunge Bra and the Cacique Smooth Lightly Lined Balconette Bra both come in a truly impressive range of sizes, as the Plunge is available in B to G and 34 to 50 inches while the Balconette comes in B to K and 34 to 54 inches. However, the fabrics on both felt rigid to our testers.

The Cosabella Soire Confidence Molded Underwire Bra is available in a dazzling array of 17 colors, but our 36D tester found its material to be scratchy and its shape unflattering.

The sheer mesh fabric of Cuup’s The Balconette bra felt slightly rough, and most of our testers didn’t find the shape sufficiently flattering.

We tried two unlined lace styles from Journelle: the Leavers lace Isabel Balconette Bra and the Helanca lace Romy Demi Bra . They’re lovely, but they aren’t as comfortable as our Journelle Anais Plunge Bra pick, and they come in limited sizes (A to G cup; 30- to 36-inch band for the Isabel and 30- to 38-inch band for the Romy).

Our testers gave the Lively T-Shirt Bra an average score of one out of five overall, noting that it was constricting and uncomfortable to wear.

The Soma Vanishing 360 Perfect Coverage Bra comes in a wide variety of sizes (cup sizes B to G, 32- to 42-inch band) and nine colors, but in our tests the cups showed through tops more obviously than those of other full-coverage bras, and the materials felt bulky and inexpensive.

The Cosabella Soire Confidence Bralette and the Cosabella Soire Confidence Curvy Bralette are available in a wide range of colors (15 and 14, respectively) and sizes. But their fabrics were among the roughest we encountered, and their triangular cups were unflattering.

The Hanky Panky Supima Cotton Padded Bralette comes in a narrow range of colors and sizes, topping out at a size medium (approximately 36B). Plus, its thin straps and band provided hardly any support: A representative for the company told us that even the large size bras were not supportive enough for people who wear anything above a B cup.

We didn’t like how the seams on the front of the Lively Mesh Trim Bralette and the Lively Busty Bra showed through most tops. Still, most of our testers found them comfortable and easy to wear, and between the two variations you have plenty of size options to choose from.

The Soma Enbliss Racerback Bralette is especially comfy, and its fabric is soft and stretchy; we also liked its removable pads. However, its high-cut neckline was strangely ill-fitting on all of our testers, and the sizing ran very small.

We had high hopes for two wireless models from ThirdLove that were launched in spring 2024: the smooth nylon/spandex ThirdLove 24/7 Classic Wireless Bra and the lace-covered ThirdLove All Day Lace Wireless Bra . Unfortunately, the only thing that the 24/7 Classic Wireless seems to have in common with our (beloved) ThirdLove 24/7 Classic Uplift Plunge pick is its name. The 24/7 Classic Wireless was uncomfortable, with prominent, itchy interior seams and too-short adjustable straps. And we found the cut of both the 24/7 Classic Wireless and the All Day Lace Wireless—available in XS to 3X, to fit sizes 30A to 44G—overwhelming, with entirely too much material (especially on the sides); even for a bralette, there was just too much coverage.

The Victoria’s Secret Lightly Lined Wireless Bra comes in a fairly wide range of sizes (A to G cup, 32- to 44-inch band) and more than 50 colors and prints. But our testers gave it a relatively low overall average score of three (out of five), reporting fit and flattening issues.

How many bras should I own?

The experts we consulted recommend owning a minimum of three everyday bras. That way, you have one to wear, one to let rest—allowing the elastic to recover—and one to launder.

Beyond those staples, consider other additions according to your lifestyle and budget. If you attend lots of formal events, a strapless style may be in order. If you’re a runner, you need sports bras .

How long should a good bra last?

A bra’s longevity depends on multiple factors, including how you launder it and how often you wear it. That said, you can expect to replace your bras about every six to 12 months.

Beyond that, if your size has changed, if your bra is stretched out, frayed, or dingy, or if it feels less supportive than it used to be, you’re probably better off investing in a new one.

Can I recycle or donate old bras?

Yes, like-new or gently used bras can be donated; check to see if your local women’s shelters or other charitable organizations accept them. The Bra Recyclers and Free the Girls offer drop-off locations across the US.

If your bras are threadbare, stretched out, or no longer wearable, consider a bra recycling program. Harper Wilde, which makes two of our picks in this guide, offers a bra recycling program that you can utilize even if you haven’t bought anything from the company, and it accepts any brand’s bras or underwear.

13 Comfortable Bras For Traveling, Working Out, and More

By Madison Flager

Comfy Bras Girlfriend Collective

If there’s one style lesson quarantine has taught us, it’s that comfort is key, and as such, underwire bras are almost entirely unnecessary. Instead, bralettes, sports bras, athletic tops, and soft, wireless bras have been on rotation (often paired with leggings or bike shorts, if we’re being honest). We asked editors to recommend bras that fit well, are barely noticeable, and still offer some support. These are the comfortable bras we'd normally reserve for long-haul flights or road trips, but have been wearing day in and day out while staying at home. Below, 13 of the most comfortable bras for every chest size, from brands like Girlfriend Collective, Madewell, and Alo.

Lululemon In Alignment bra

“Lululemon's new In Alignment bra has become my go-to for workouts. It's made out of the same buttery material as the brand's cult favorite Align leggings, and feels smooth and great under any top. And even though it's billed as light support, I've worn it for more intense classes, like boxing and HIIT, without any issue. I love that it has a back clasp, so I don't have to worry about pulling a muscle when taking off my bra after a sweaty workout. And the sweat-wicking fabric works wonders—and dries quickly, too.” —Stephanie Wu, articles director

Richer Poorer Cut Out bralette

“Everything this California-based brand makes is designed for comfort, and the Cut Out bralette is no different. There's no clasp, you just pull it on over your head, and there's no padding, so it feels much more like a cami than a traditional bra. The wide band doesn't pinch at my skin, and the adjustable straps are a big plus. It's my new favorite lounging-around-the-house bra (so it's been getting a lot of use), and I can see it being a go-to for long plane rides in the future.” —Madison Flager, commerce editor

Knix Evolution bra

“Knix's Evolution bra is the most comfortable bra I own. It's the kind of bra that, with some smart planning, can be the only bra you bring on any entire trip. It's wireless but supportive—great for plane rides. It's reversible, in black and beige, so it goes with a variety of tops. And it molds to your body over time, making it so comfortable that I sometimes forget I even have a bra on. If you prefer padding, their Wingwoman bra is fantastic, too, and their Longevity sports bra is my current favorite workout bra. It's a cropped length but doesn't bunch up at all, making it great for hiking trips .” —S.W.

Pepper All You bra

“I recently saw Instagram ads for this company Pepper, designed for people with smaller chests. I ordered the All You bra immediately and am pretty impressed. It actually does fit better than any bra I've tried and is really comfortable. It does have a wire, but I barely feel it, even when I'm sitting on the couch all day. And I can wear it under anything, even though it's just T-shirts these days.” —Mercedes Bleth, senior social media editor

Lively's The Busty Bralette

“I wear this bra under everything—dresses, jumpsuits, T-shirts, sweaters. Made specifically for sizes D-DDD, it's the most supportive bralette I’ve found, and I’ve impulse bought a lot of very comfortable, but in no way supportive, bralettes that I then only wear at home or to sleep. Lively's comes in a handful of neutral shades that are nice for wearing under any color top, and has adjustable straps, which can be hard to come by in loungewear bras. Another Lively favorite: the Skinny-Strap Seamless Bralette , which is so soft, it barely feels like you have a bra on.” —M.F

True and Co. Racerback

“A friend recommended this True and Co. pick to me as a good summer bra. It's nice for lounging around and good at preventing boob sweat, which is key during warmer months, and the straps won't dig into your shoulders at all. I like that it has removable cups, and is available in a broader range of cup sizes than most companies offer, starting at 32A and going to 42F.” —M.F.

Nike Victory sports bra

“I am a big sports bra fan in non-sporting environments. They are comfortable, reliable, and a staple of any airplane outfit. Two favorites are the Nike Indy in black, with thin straps so I can get away with wearing it under sleeveless black dresses in summer. And the Nike Victory Racer back—this one is more sturdy, built for the at-home aerobics I've turned to while the gym is shut down. I own it in hot pink, for a pop of color under my gym singlet.” —Erin Florio, travel news director

The high neck racerback design is fun and flattering, while the criss-cross bands at the bottom add style without taking away from functionality. Brooks Dare High-Neck bra

“This is my favorite dual-purpose exercise and lounge bra. It’s so soft and is easily the most comfortable, least restrictive sports bra I own, but is still supportive enough to get me through a run. I love it for yoga , too, since the high neck covers more of your chest, meaning you won't be readjusting in downward dog. It fits more like a crop top than a standard bra, which makes me feel better about wearing it on its own, without a tank layered over.” —M.F.

The Best Travel Bra: How To Avoid The Bounce And Stay Super Comfy On Any Trip

Imagine hiking through a rainforest for days or spending 72 hours cramped on a transcontinental train ride. Twisting and turning your torso is bad enough – the last thing you need are metal wires or hooks digging into your skin.

You’ll need a travel bra that can cope with your journey.

Of course you can stick to your regular fashionable bras, but I prefer some sporty support when I’m on my feet all day. Not to mention that if you’re traveling for any length of time, you’ll want to make sure you get as much use as possible from every item on  your packing list .

Remember, you’ll have to wear this bra when you’re sweaty, hot and clammy. You may have to wear it several days in a row. Conditions may be far from ideal.

What you should look for in the best bra for travel

Every travel bra is different but they all have common characteristics – keep these in mind as you make your choice.

Here’s what I look for:

  • sturdiness:  if you’re packing light you’ll be wearing it a lot, and that means something that makes the grade
  • cup   size:  remember, your rib cage may be narrow and your breasts large, or vice versa so make sure  both  measurements fit
  • support:  you’ll be walking a lot, sometimes quickly, and you don’t want to be bouncing all over the place
  • suitable:  think of your activities – a more sporty bra for sightseeing and sports but if you’re going glam at night, a convertible bra is a must (if you can pull this off, that is!)
  • comfortable straps:  nothing too thin that bites into your shoulder or collarbone
  • whether it snaps in the back or slips on over your head – many of us have preferences! If you like the ones that snap on, make sure those  hooks are strong  so your bra stays put!
  • smoothness:  for bras with hooks, make sure they’re well-covered and off your skin.
  • anti-microbial  properties make your bras more suitable for travel
  • wicking materials  will help keep you dry longer – meaning you have to wash your bras less often
  • color : you want your travel bras to be  neutral and invisible  (I prefer skin or nude colors that work well under any color top)

I personally can’t travel without a sports bra but I’m on the larger side. If you’re slim with less weight to carry, you may be just fine traveling with your everyday bras.

The best travel bra comparison chart

Best travel bras reviews.

Here are just a few of the travel sports bras I’ve either tried myself or am planning to buy because other women travelers are raving about them.

Panache Plus Size Women's Non-Wired Sports Bra, Black, 32C

  • Women with large chests find it particularly difficult to uncover the perfect travel bra - something that will support you no matter what, give you great comfort, let you wear it all day and stay fresh, and undertake all sorts of travel activities, some of them quite hectic. The Panache is popular with travelers who have large cups - it comes in plenty of sizes (and designs, which is nice for a change).
  • It does have a small amount of padding, although whether you like that will be up to you. For some, its indispensable. For others, it simply adds volume. Either way, this is one bra that will hold you firm, whatever your size.
  • PROS: Its fun and attractive, such a difference from most of the plain-toned sports and travel bras on the market. | For those of you who like adjustability, it has hooks in the back and convertible straps. | Firm and outstanding at avoiding the bounce.
  • CONS: There is no underwire, and some users feel this sacrifices support. (In that case, you should take a look at the extremely popular and much-loved wired version.) | Tends to be cut a little small so worth being extra-cautious about the fit.

The Travel Bra Review

best travel bra

The Travel Bra is basically a travel bra with pockets. It’s designed by travelers for travelers and combines a comfortable undergarment with some serious safety features – I know this because I’ve tried it myself. Other than a  standard money belt , it’s the most discreet of hiding places for your valuables.

NOTE: That said, you shouldn’t be delving into any undercover money belts during the day: you should keep a small amount of cash in an accessible place, such as your zipped or hidden pocket or  travel bag , as long as it’s an amount you’re prepared to lose. In the unlikely eventuality you should get mugged or pickpocketed, handing over your “day stash” should satisfy most petty thieves, for whom speed is essential. The rest of your money will stay safe and absolutely out of sight.

This travel bra also has a breathable back mesh, making it even more comfortable. Its natural fibers and lack of wires and hard metallic pieces make it soft and comfortable, especially for the long haul. While I don’t often recommend sleeping in a bra, this one is a bit different, because you can also use it as a security item – particularly useful in dorms or on long train or bus rides.

✓  Its hidden pouch can be used to hide a credit card and passport from pickpockets. ✓  No stiff bits – underwire or clasps – so it’s super comfortable and easily wearable all day. ✓  Some models are made from organic cotton and bamboo.

✕  It sizes a little small so be aware of that as you order. ✕  Like a money belt, you’ll have to go somewhere private if you want to access your valuables.

How to keep your bras in good shape when traveling – should you use a bra holder for travel

I like to keep it simple – I don’t use any fancy bra travel case, not even for my best travel bras

First, I tend to travel with a quick-drying sports bra and a “city-type travel bra”, like an ExOfficio modern travel bra.

The sports bra is easy to fold because it is thin and flat, but bras with cups are a little harder and smash or crumple easily, which is why some women like to use a  travel bra case  (this one can carry both your bras and your underwear).

If I need extra protection or some kind of travel bra organizer, I use  packing cubes . I stuff the bra cups with socks or underwear and  voilà .

A final word: don’t wait until your trip to wear your new bra! Just like shoes, you don’t want to discover a difficult fit once you’re in a foreign country (where they may not have your size).

How many days in a row should you wear a bra?

As you can probably guess, the answer here is “it depends”.

When you travel, you’ll have fewer bras than you have at home and not as many opportunities to wash them, so you’ll inevitably have to wear them longer than you would at home (hence the importance of a quick dry travel bra).

If you’re wearing your bra under normal circumstances, for example everyday sightseeing in temperate weather, you can easily wear your bra twice or three times – just don’t wear them several days in a row and alternate, to give the elastic a chance to bounce back.

If it’s very hot outside and you’re sweating all day, you may only be able to wear your bra once before washing it.

Lift your spirits with these 15 travel bras

By Marin Scotten, Editorial Intern, JourneyWoman

Let’s face it: finding a bra that is comfortable, supportive and fits properly is difficult for all women. Finding a fashionable bra that works well in any climate and fits those of us who are taller or heavier, is another. A challenge that our readers were eager to take on when this topic came up on our private Facebook group recently.

Marti Sladek laid out the situation: “Let’s talk about bras,” she wrote. “I am in my 70s and tall, size 18. I’m looking for recommendations on travel bras that will give some support and coverage, but are also wireless, cool in jungle heat and quick dry after hand wash.”

Game on. A flurry of discussion began, evaluating suitable candidates based on their versatility, comfort and support. We’ve taken the liberty of curating these into a final list of 15, plus one new entrant, evaluated by Marti herself. (We’d love your undies and bathing suit recommendations next ladies! )

Specifically designed for travel, this Tilley bra is best known for its comfortably hidden pockets, perfect to keep your passport, cash or keys nearby. It is made from a silky stretch fabric and is designed to wick moisture and dry fast.

Tilley Women’s Travel Bra

“Leading Lady bras are very lightweight, will dry overnight, no underwire, good coverage and does up at the front, makes it really easy. I have looked for years and finally found this. I was at a point that I did not want to put on a bra at all, most are so restrictive,” Leslie says.

Liquid IV electrolytes

This wirefree bra from Bali offers a flexible fit and all around comfort. Their specially designed comfort band is made to move with you, ensuring all day comfort. It is made from a combination of nylon and spandex and sizes range from 32 to 42.

This flexible pull-on silhouette of the True Body bra comes with a triangle neckline and convertible straps designed to disappear under clothing. This bra is made from the softest material in True’s collection, providing all day comfort. Sizes range from 30 C to 40 A.

12. BodyGlove Equator Equalizer Sports Bra

Recommended by Diana, the BodyGlove bra is made from UPF 50+ swim material and will protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays. It comes with removable soft cups and can be worn in and out of the water. Sizes range from XS-XL.

Loop Earplugs

Wacoal bras are specifically designed for larger chests, with cup sizes ranging from C to G. Their contour cup provides extra support and the straps are fully adjustable, making it the perfect t-shirt bra.

The Late Entrant: Juno Activewear

When Juno Activewear heard about our feature, they were eager to be included. It seemed only right to send samples to the woman who started it all, Marti.

Juno sent Marti a bra and panties set to try, the QuikWik Soft Control Bra and Comfort Briefs .

Marti wearing her Juno bra and pantie set

Cons:  The band of the bra is narrow, and it rolled under. This isn’t because it was too small–in fact, I think the next size would be too large–but rather on someone as tall (6 feet) and long-torsoed as I am, the whole bra just isn’t quite long enough. Maybe a wider band would help. Typical of a sports bra, there are no back hooks or strap adjusters, which makes it a little tough for someone with arthritis to pull on, but with the stretch, I got it on and tucked in easily enough. The thick side seams on the bra pressed in a tad too much, and went too high up into the arm. Is it too much to ask any undie company not to have a scratchy tag?

One of my concerns for travel is pieces that dry quickly overnight so I can pack light. These did not. The seams were still damp 8 hours after hand-washing, rolling in a towel for a few minutes and hanging them.

Summary: Overall, I like these better than any other activewear styles I have tried. They aren’t an add-on of a major brand. They are specifically made for those of us not built like supermodels.

Kitty

While I have a few Knix Evolution bras and love them, my absolute travel fave is the Knix “Good to Go” seamless bra. I just returned from a 6 week European vacation, a 4 day girls’ weekend in Southern California and a week in Pennsylvania for a wedding. I only took 3 of those bras, one with the padding still in and 2 with the padding taken out. So light and comfy!!! It was like I didn’t feel anything, and wearable under anything. They were not uncomfortable in the 30-40 celsius temperatures I encountered. I highly recommend this bra!!!

What’s the best bra for traveling?

by Paul @ Travel is Life | Mar 15, 2018 | Travel Buyer Guides | 0 comments

Best Travel Bra

Hey traveler, while you’re here join my   friends list   to get all the perks I offer at Travel is Life.

Last year I connected with Dr. Annie Holder, creator of The Travel Bra , and we ran a giveaway and a promotion together on this site. While I'm no expert on bras (I'm a dude incase you didn't know), I am interested in new and revolutionary products in the travel space, and so I was inspired by Dr. Annie to research the best bras for travelers to see what else was out there. I thought about asking one of my female writer to tackle this piece, but I'm fearless! Instead of playing my ‘guy card' on this one, I buckled down and did the research myself, from a completely outside perspective, to see what female travelers had to say on this topic. And here's what I found.

What makes a good travel bra?

Since I have no personal experience to answer this question, I looked to the experts. Here's what they had to say about choosing the best travel bra.

Jene

Jene' Luciani recommends:

  • The Genie Bra as a t-shirt bra that can double as a sports bra.
  • Champion Women's Double Dry Distance Underwire Sports Bra for great support during high impact activities
  • Genie Women's Cami-Shaper for women who like to go bra-less

Finding the perfect fitting bra is apparently such a complicated task for women that she wrote an entire book on the subject called The Bra Book: An Intimate Guide to Finding the Right Bra, Shapewear, Swimsuit, and More!

Brooke

Brooke Schoenman recommends:

  • Lululemon Ta Ta Tamer for running and being active.
  • ExOfficio Give N Go Crossover Bra for a bra with quick drying fabric and a flattering style.
  • Patagonia Barely Wireless Bra for wearing with dresses and tank tops.
  • And she recommends Dr. Annie's The Travel Bra as “the ultimate travel bra”

Rachel

Rachel Jones recommends:

  • Free People Bralettes for bandeau and halter style.
  • Crochet Bras for when wearing outfits where your bra is going to show
  • Body by Victoria Underwire Bras for wearing a nicer dress.
  • Under Armour Sports Bras for exercising and extreme activities.
  • And lastly she recommends simply wearing a bikini as a bra in humid climates!

Kimmay

Kim Caldwell recommends these non-underwire bras:

  • Calvin Klein Modern Cotton Bralette for running around town or low impact activities.
  • Gossamer Mesh Unwire Uplift Bra for their breathable mesh material and price point.
  • Bella Materna Anytime Nursing Bra (that's right, a nursing bra) for its removable lining and six hooks on the band which makes it good for fitting many different sized women.
  • Elila Leopard Lace Softcup Bra for women with a full bust.
  • Anita Activity Comfort Sports Bra because it's available in A-G cups, super smooth, offers full coverage, and has wide adjustable straps and band.
  • Hanky Panky Bralettes for their fun colors and patterns, although not as supportive as others.
  • Simone Perele Wireless Bras for their aloe-infused lace!

Leyla

Leyla Giray Alyanak recommends:

  • ExOfficio's Crossover for “less chesty” women in hot climates and on long trips. (which Brooke Schoenman also recommended earlier).
  • Panache Bras for a nicer looking sports bra.
  • Moving Comfort's Fiona Bra for women on the larger side.

Laura

Laura Lopuch recommends:

  • Calvin Klein Women's Perfectly Fit Push Up Multiway Bra as an extremely versatile travel bra.
  • Dr. Annie's The Travel Bra for stashing your valuables.
  • Gossamer Mesh Unwire Uplift Bras for a solid everyday travel bra option with breathable mesh material.
  • Top Secret Prop Top Bralette for straight up comfort while sacrificing a little support.
  • Elila Leopard Lace Softcup Bra for fuller busts that need a little extra support without an underwire.
  • CW-X Stabilyx Running Bra for its breathability and support web built into the cups.

Faz

Fas Abdul Gaffa recommends:

  • Top Secret Prop Top Bralette for it's comfort and double layers which “makes sure you don’t have unnecessary nipple action on the plane”.
  • Eberjey India Retro Bralet as a soft, underwireless sexy bra.
  • C9 by Champion Racer Bra which she originally picked up for her Bikram yoga classes (go Bikram!) and feels its a good travel bra for the price.

Cindy

Cindy Heazlit only packs two bras for her trips – one to wear and one to wash. She recommend these travel bra brands:

  • Title Nine Sports Bras
  • Moving Comfort Sports Bras
  • Elomi Energise Bras

Therese

Therese recommends:

The Knixwear Evolution Bra because she feels that “everything that makes a good bra – and thus a good travel bra – is built into this piece.”

What's the best anti-theft travel bra?

All that above seems like great advice and recommendations for comfortable travel bras, but what about ones that help protect your valuables ? (No, I mean your other valuables like your passport, credit cards, and cash.) It seems like Dr. Annie's The Travel Bra was the only bra out there that offers this type of protection, but aside from that novelty, does it pass the comfort test? Here's what travelers had to say about it.

You want a bra that can handle all the literal twists and turns of travel. The best travel bras can be worn multiple days in a row and are sporty enough for activities like sightseeing while being wireless for comfort. If you’re looking for an anti-theft travel bra, Handee’s Racerback Bra features hidden pockets.

What to know before you buy a bra for travel

When choosing a bra for travel, you’ll want to consider both the bra size, so that it fits, and its size when packed. You want a travel bra that folds down easily and doesn’t take up too much room in your luggage, so we recommend ditching the padding. The most comfortable bras for travel are wire-free, which typically come in sizes XS to 3XL and not in cup/band sizing.

Though traveling doesn’t involve exercise per se, it can be quite a vigorous activity, whether you’re dashing to catch a train or going on an all-day walking tour. You want a bra that’ll support you and not create a lot of bounce. Bras that have supportive, sports bra-like designs are well suited for long travel days. Some travelers, especially bustier ones, prefer wearing actual sports bras while traveling for their high level of support.

For travel, you want to select a bra made from sturdy materials that will hold up during multiple days of wear (especially if you’re packing light). Synthetic blends of polyester, nylon and/or spandex are the most durable but not the most breathable. Cotton is better for traveling in hotter climates because it’s both breathable and absorbent, though not very durable. Bamboo blends are also suitable for hot weather because the natural fiber is moisture-wicking.

Avoid thin, adjustable straps that can dig into your skin while traveling. Most bras for travel have wide, flat straps similar to those of sports bras and won’t bite or dig into your skin. You may also want to consider a bra with convertible straps that can accommodate your daytime and nighttime looks. When you’re traveling and need different styles of bras for different outfits but can’t pack them all, a bra with convertible straps offers versatility.

The best bra color for travel is a nude or skin tone bra because the neutral color goes with tops of any color. The downside of nude bras is that they can show spots and stains, and when you’re away from your laundry room this can be a nuisance. Some travelers prefer a black or dark-colored bra for this reason.

Bra for travel features

Select travel bras offer secret anti-theft pockets inside the lining to stash your passport, credit cards, jewelry and cash. These can be drop-down pockets, a hidden pocket between the breasts, pockets in the straps or mesh side pockets.

Antimicrobial

A bra that features an antimicrobial treatment can help reduce odor caused by bacteria and keep your undergarment fresh longer, which is always ideal when you’re away from home.

Moisture-wicking

The last thing you want to do when traveling is laundry. To avoid having to wash your bra too often, especially in hot, sticky climates, select a bra made from a moisture-wicking material that will keep sweat from absorbing into the fabric.

Bra for travel cost

Wireless bras cost anywhere from $7-$70, though you don’t need to spend more than $35 for a good wire-free bra. If you’re buying an anti-theft travel bra, these specialty bras cost $15-$80.

Bra for travel FAQ

Can I wear my regular bra for travel?

A. Yes, if it’s comfortable to wear for long stretches of time. The best bras for travel aren’t necessarily designated for travel but fit the criteria outlined in this guide. When it comes down to it, personal preference has a lot to do with what style of bra is comfortable and supportive for traveling.

Would a sleep bra work for red-eye travel?

A. Yes, absolutely. When you need to sleep on a train, plane or bus, you probably won’t feel comfortable stripping off your bra as you do in the comfort of your own home. Lounge or sleep bras are the perfect solutions for these situations. Also, since you’re not required to be very active during long trips, less supportive but ultra-comfortable sleep bras are suitable to wear.

Which bra for travel should I get?

Best of the best bra for travel

Handee Bra Company Racerback Bamboo Bra with Pockets: available at Amazon

Our take: For extra security, this comfortable travel bra features pockets to stash your valuables.

What we like: Made from 30% bamboo, this bra is breathable and soft enough to sleep in. This bra is reasonably priced for an anti-theft travel bra. It features three pockets, including a drop-down pocket for your passport. It comes in three solid colors: neutral, black and red.

What we dislike: Because the straps aren’t adjustable, the bra may be too short for some busts.

Best bang for your buck bra for travel

Hanes Women’s SmoothTec ComfortFlex Fit Wirefree Bra: available at Amazon

Our take: A simple but practical wireless bra that will keep you cool and comfortable on the road.

What we like: The fabric is designed to stretch four ways for a perfect “smartsize” fit and for ultimate comfort. This bra provides remarkable support for some busts without the use of an underwire. The moisture-wicking material dries quickly in hot, sticky climates.

What we dislike: The bra isn’t lined, so it may show more than you bargained for.

Honorable mention bra for travel

ExOfficio Women’s Give-N-Go Crossover Bra: available at Amazon

Our take: With a unique crossover design, this stylish bra keeps everything in place when travel gets rocky.

What we like: Made from a nylon and spandex blend, this bra gets high marks for holding up during travel. The pull-on design is easy and doesn’t have anything that can dig into your skin. The mesh fabric is breathable and moisture-wicking, making this bra ideal for traveling in hot, humid climates.

What we dislike: The crossover design may be too “bouncy” for larger-chested women and for more high-impact activities.

9 Best Strapless Bras, Tested by Bra Experts

Support and lift without any straps peeking out.

Best strapless bras

We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.

A strapless bra needs to keep you lifted and supported but shouldn't feel so constricting that you're counting down the seconds until you can rip it off. Finding a comfortable strapless bra can feel like an impossible task; it needs to keep you covered while also staying hidden under clothes. A well-fitting strapless bra is an intimates drawer staple, ideal to wear under strapless or one-shoulder necklines. Plus, many strapless bras are convertible, so you can wear them with straps too. We put dozens of bras to the test to find the best strapless styles.

Our top picks for the best strapless bras:

  • Best for Large Breasts Strapless Bra: Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra
  • Best for Small Breasts Strapless Bra: Pepper MVP Multiway Strapless Bra
  • Best Wireless Strapless Bra: Soma Wireless Stay Put Multi-Way Strapless Bra
  • Best Bandeau Strapless Bra: Skims Bandeau Bra

The Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab has been advising women on how to shop for bras for decades. We evaluate all types of intimates such as bras, underwear and shapewear , and we've tested over a 100 different styles in recent years, including 12 strapless bras, 34 underwire bras, 22 wireless bras and 51 sports bras . GH fiber scientists evaluate each bra in our Lab, looking at factors like washability, moisture management, stretch recovery and construction features. To truly understand each bra's performance, we enslisted testers in a range of sizes, including those with large cup sizes and smaller busts , to wear each strapless bra in their everyday routine to get feedback on comfort, fit, support, appearance (under clothes and on its own) and more. Our testers wore sizes that ranged from AA to H cups and 30 to 48 bands.

Shop through our top picks to find the right strapless bra for your cup size, then continue reading to find answers to your most pressing bra shopping questions — including if you should size down when purchasing a strapless bra.

Bali One Smooth U Strapless Bra

One Smooth U Strapless Bra

Yes, the most affordable strapless bra we tested was also the best-performing style. This Bali bra currently costs just $24 and outperformed styles over four times its price. This bra has lightly lined, full-coverage foam cups with an underwire for support and lift. It features silicone grips to help keep this bra in place, which testers especially appreciated. While this bra washed beautifully in our Lab tests with minimal shrinkage, it stretched out a bit in our stretch recovery tests.

This bra received the highest consumer score out of all the strapless bras we tested, with all testers giving perfect scores for running true to size, staying in place and being easy to take on and off. "I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this, for a strapless bra," reported one tester with a 36C bra size. "I typically can't stand strapless bras because they feel uncomfortable and slide down, but this one stayed in place and I even forgot I was wearing it." Another tester with a 34D bra size said, "It gives you a little lift and doesn't give you that uniboob look that some strapless bras will give you." We had B, C and D cup size testers wear this bra and they all reported that it was a perfect fit. Some testers noted that the fabric felt a little rough and wished it was softer.

Sizes: 34-42, C-DDD | Materials: 80% Nylon, 20% Spandex | Colors: Two | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra

Red Carpet Strapless Bra

Available in an impressive size range up to an I cup size, this Wacoal bra has been a top performer in our evaluations for years. We tested this bra both in 2017 and 2023 — and it continues to be a tester favorite. In our Lab evaluations, this bra proved to be durable, maintaining its shape after our stretch recovery tests and it didn't shrink or change appearance after laundering. The thoughtful design, which includes a slightly padded bottom band to prevent any digging in, helps it feel supportive and comfortable throughout the day. There are also silicone grips along the top and bottom band of the bra to keep it secure. We especially appreciate the boning on the sides and the wider band to help provide ample support for larger cup sizes without any bulging or uncomfortable pinching.

One tester with a 38DDD bra size said, "Overall, the bra is great and the bra felt secure for someone with a larger chest." She also said, "I love the feel of the cups; they are so smooth and soft on my skin." Another tester with a 32G bra size said, "The cups were large enough and did not cut into my breasts." Both of these testers noted that the bra was more supportive when they wore it with the adjustable straps. Some testers also noted that the cups dug a bit into their ribcages a bit.

Sizes: 30-44, D-I | Materials: 91% polyamide, 9% spandex | Colors: Seven | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Pepper MVP Multiway Strapless Bra

MVP Multiway Strapless Bra

Anyone with smaller cups is familiar with the frustrating gaping that can happen with underwire bras. Pepper designs their bras specifically for people with AA to B cup sizes to ensure a proper fit. The cups on this bra have a more shallow design to help prevent gaping , and a silicone strip along the band keeps it from any sliding down. The flattering balconette cups are lightly lined to enhance your natural shape and provide nipple coverage without feeling bulky.

One tester with a 36A bra size tried this bra and said it was a "total game-changer for small-busted women." Our testers with small cup sizes loved Pepper bras for providing a proper fit that feels comfortable enough for all-day wear. Although we haven't tested this exact style in our Lab yet, Pepper bras have previously shown signs of wear and shrinkage after laundering.

Sizes: 30-40, AA-B | Materials: 75% polyester, 25% elastane | Colors: Four | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Soma Enbliss Wireless Stay Put Multi-Way Strapless Bra

Enbliss Wireless Stay Put Multi-Way Strapless Bra

Most strapless bras feature an underwire, but this wireless, strapless bra from Soma is designed to provide the same support without any wire. The version of this bra with straps cinched the top spot in our wireless bra test . It features molded cups to create a natural shape and ample lift as well as fabric that's luxuriously soft because it's lightly brushed. Unlike most bras with three rows of hooks and eyes in the back, this style has five rows, so you can tighten it even if it stretches out. This is especially helpful as we did find this bra to stretch out a bit in our stretch recovery tests.

Testers especially liked the Soma Enbliss line for offering ample lift to create natural looking cleavage without a wire that pokes and prods. "The fabric was buttery soft and smooth; I really liked it and was comfortable all day," said one tester with a 32DD bra size. Another tester with a 36B bra size said, "I liked that it felt very smooth and supportive, and fit nicely." It received high marks across the board for being comfortable to wear, supportive and staying in place from consumer testers.

Sizes: 32-42, A-G | Materials: 71% nylon, 29% spandex | Colors: Five | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Skims Bandeau Bra

Bandeau Bra

Free of bulky padding, scratchy seams or stiff underwires, this simple Skims bandeau bra offers a comfy solution compared to traditional strapless bras. With a snug fit and smooth, stretchy polyamide and elastane fabric, this bra is available in 10 different nude shades , so you can find a close match to your skin tone. Because this bra lacks any padding, it has minimal nipple coverage.

We have tested a variety of Skims bras, including this bandeau bra and the Fits Everybody T-shirt bra and push-up bra . Our testers applaud Skims' commitment to inclusivity with a size range that goes up to 4X and a variety of nude shades. "I loved the material and think it could be great for a casual bra," reported one tester.

Thirdlove 24/7 Classic Strapless Bra

24/7 Classic Strapless Bra

Featuring a classic design, this Thirdlove strapless bra offers lightly lined cups with an underwire for full coverage. It features a bit of padding around the underwire to prevent any uncomfortable digging in. The wide band with silicone grips on the top and bottom help keep the bra secure for a full day of wear. This bra is convertible with straps included. Our testers especially liked that it comes with two sets of straps: one matching the color of the bra you ordered and another that's clear.

Some testers found this bra to run a bit small. Thirdlove offers a unique sizing system with half-cup sizes, so we recommend reading the size chart closely to find your best fit. "[This bra] kept my boobs supported very well for a strapless bra," said one tester with a 34DD bra size. Another tester with a 32C bra size said, "This bra was very supportive and has the perfect amount of padding." One tester with a 32G bra size "thought it was smart the way they made the padding/lining thicker at the bottom to help keep your boobs up and it worked."

Sizes: 32-44, AA-H | Materials: nylon/spandex | Colors: Two | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Lively Smooth Strapless

Smooth Strapless

Strapless bras with boning have more structure and shape, which can make them stay in place better and feel more supportive. Like a corset, this Lively strapless bra has boning on the sides, meanwhile the lightly padded balconette cups create lift with a flattering neckline that looks great under clothes. The boning and underwire are more flexible than other bras we've tested for a comfier fit . The breathable mesh throughout the bra helps prevent overheating too. We noted that the silicone grips are only at the top of the bra and not the bottom band, so they didn't help the bra stay in place effectively.

Lively bras have been top performers in our tests. One GH editor swears by this bra, saying "I usually avoid wearing a strapless bra at all costs, but this bra is shockingly comfortable." She especially likes how "this bra creates totally natural looking cleavage," perfect for her 34D bra size. For a more corset-like design, Lively offers another strapless bra that is snug down your ribcage.

Sizes: 32-38, A-DDD | Materials: 85% nylon, 15% spandex | Colors: Two | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Victoria's Secret Every-Way Strapless Bra

Every-Way Strapless Bra

Victoria's Secret is known for their high quality push-up bras and this style is no exception. It features slight push-up padding and a lower neckline to create natural cleavage while staying hidden underneath lower-cut tops. Ideal to wear with practically any garment, this strapless bra can be worn in 12 different ways for ultimate flexibility, thanks to adjustable straps that you can switch to halter, one shoulder strap, racerback and more.

A tester with a 32C bra size said this bra "stays up and doesn't fall down or move [and] it's comfortable!" She even said, "You honestly forget you are even wearing a strapless bra when you have it on (which is saying a lot)." All testers said this bra was true to size and easy to take on and off; plus, they loved this bra's appearance on its own. One tester with a 34C bra size wore this strapless bra "with a spaghetti strap dress for a wedding and it stayed in place for the whole event (plus getting there and getting home), which was roughly 12 hours." Some testers noted that the padding is built-in and they would have preferred if it was removable.

Sizes: 32-38, B-DDD | Materials: 83% recycled polyamide, 17% elastane | Colors: Four | Convertible: Yes, straps included

Cosabella Forte Convertible Strapless Bra

Forte Convertible Strapless Bra

Featured in our best lingerie brands, Cosabella makes beautiful bras like this strapless style designed with scalloped lace for a delicate, feminine look that pairs perfectly with the brand's matching underwear . This bra has an underwire for a supportive fit with full coverage cups to keep you lifted and covered. We appreciate that this style is available up to a G-cup size, but the band size range is quite limited, only going up a 36.

We haven't yet tested this new launch from Cosabella, but we have tested the brand's Never Say Never balconette bra and bralette , which feature similar lace detailing. Our testers love Cosabella lace with one saying, "It was a beautiful lace that felt soft to the touch." "I LOVED the sexiness and look of the bra," said one tester with a 32G cup size who tried the balconette style. "It is a 10/10 in terms of finding lingerie that fits and is sexy."

Sizes: 32-36, B-G | Materials: 83% polyamide, 17% elastane | Colors: Six | Convertible: Yes, straps included

How we test strapless bras

line break

When testing strapless bras in our Textiles Lab, our process consists of Lab evaluations for performance and durability as well as consumer tests to get feedback from testers with a variety of cup sizes and body shapes during real-life use.

an analyst testing stretch recovery in bras, good housekeeping's testing for the best strapless bras

Factors we evaluate include:

  • Stretch recovery: To ensure each bra will maintain its shape wear after wear, we conduct stretch recovery tests. We mark a section of the bra band and stretch it out to a standard measurement for two hours. We measure the markings after we release the bra to see how well it returns to its original shape after one minute and one hour.
  • Washability: We launder each bra according to its care label five times to assess if the material has shrunk or shown any damage after laundering.
  • Wear tests: Testers with a range of band and cup sizes try the bras and fill out thorough survey responses, providing feedback on ease of putting it on and taking it off, fit, comfort, support, stay-in-place capabilities, visibility under clothes and overall appearance. In our latest test, our testers wore sizes that ranged from AA to H cups and 30 to 48 bands.

What to look for when shopping for the best strapless bra

line break

✔️ Bra size: If you can never find a comfortable bra, it's possible you aren't wearing the correct bra size. Because each brand has slight variations in sizing, it can be helpful to try a few different sizes to find a proper fit. A strapless bra should fit snugly under your breasts and your breasts should fill out the cups without any gaping or spillage out the top. If possible, it can be extremely helpful to get measured by a professional at a retailer you trust. Use our guide to measure your bra size at home if you cannot go to a store in person.

✔️ Boning: These rigid inserts add extra structure and stability to strapless bras. Unlike an underwire that offers support just underneath your breasts, boning is positioned on either side of the bra to maintain the shape of the bra and prevent any bending. Because of its stiff nature, boning can sometimes dig in, but it is especially helpful in strapless bras for larger cup sizes as it offers extra support.

✔️ Padding: Consider the level of padding you want in your strapless bra. Most strapless bras feature some padding whether it's in the form of lightly lined foam cups or push-up padding to create more lift like the Victoria's Secret Every-Way Strapless Bra. There are some styles that offer no padding like the Skims Bandeau Bra too.

✔️ Occasion: While you can wear convertible strapless bras with straps like a regular T-shirt bra, you likely won't find them as comfortable as your reliable everyday bra. Strapless bras have a tighter fit and many have silicone grips to help it stay in place. Strapless bras are extremely handy for a variety of occasions and outfits like strapless tube tops, off-the-shoulder sweaters or spaghetti strap dresses. Most of our testers reported that they usually wear their strapless bras during wedding season when they're wearing formal dresses and need to keep their bra completely hidden.

Do I size down for a strapless bra?

line break

No, we reccomend going with your true size for strapless bras. Many people aren't wearing the proper bra size (even if it's the size you have been wearing for decades!). If you're wearing a bra size that's too large, your strapless bra will slide down your rib cage and lack proper lift and support for your breasts. On the other hand, if you're wearing bras that are too small, you'll experience even more spillage and squeezing in a strapless bra as they tend to run tighter to stay properly in place.

The Tortuga Promise

At Tortuga, our mission is to make travel easier. Our advice and recommendations are based on years of travel experience. We only recommend products that we use on our own travels.

Table of Contents

You only need two or three bras on your trip, depending on your cup size and level of activities planned. Pack these bras: T-shirt, Convertible & Sports bra

Let’s talk about underwear.

Specifically, a piece of underwear that supports we women through thick and thin.

Over the highest mountains, through the sweatiest yoga sessions, in rainstorms, on beach days, at the office, and on adventures these protect and support our assets faithfully.

I’m talking about your bras, ladies.

Whether you’re cultivating form or function, indulging your flirty side with crafty lace, your athletic side with rib-hugging elastic, or your gotta-sleep-now side, we’ve all got a bra for every activity.

And when you travel, you want a bra that makes your trip easier, more comfortable, and less nipply (if that’s not your thing).

3 Must-Have Bras for Travel

If you’re like most women traveling, you’ll pack a minimum of two bras, wearing one bra and packing a spare. With that minimalist approach, you can wash one bra and, as it dries, you can wear the other.

Depending your girls’ size, need for support, and your activities, you will probably need to travel with three bras:

  • T-shirt bra
  • Convertible bra

If you’re engaging in less active adventures (or are an A-cup), you can probably get away without the sports bra.

Here’s why you must pack these three bras:

best travel bra

Can’t make it through a day without a good sweaty run or a hot yoga session? Pack a sports bra.

Need some extra support for your boobs on roads filled with potholes? Pack a sports bra.

This is the only time you’ll ever hear me say this, so listen closely. Pack two sports bras if you answered yes to both of the questions above.

You can wear one for your next day’s activities while the other bra is drying.

Convertible Bra

This is that magical bra with adjustable strap configurations that conforms to any shirt, dress, or halter-top.

Yes, even those strapless tops that you bought on a whim in Thailand. It’s probably not the most comfortable bra you own, but it’s the most versatile.

Pack a convertible bra and have the right bra for any shirt or dress situation.

T-Shirt Bra: Underwire or Wireless?

Perhaps you’ve heard whispers of women setting off the machines at security checkpoints and being pawed down — sorry, patted down — due to the underwire in their bras.

Personally, I’ve never had this happen. And 90% of my bras have wire in them. But the case for going underwire-free is more than awkward gropings by airport personnel.

The real reason is comfort.

With a wire-free bra, you can sleep comfortably instead of feeling like you have to let down your hair, kick off your shoes, and untie your corset to relax. While traveling, comfort is key. And clothing is one of the few things that you have total control over when on the road.

Let’s face it: Underwire isn’t that comfortable when bedding down in a tiny, cramped airplane or bus seat, chasing after sleep.

Choosing a Travel Bra

When you’re shopping for (or packing) travel bras, you’ll want:

  • Moisture-wicking:  Modern materials for a quick-dry bra
  • Comfort:  You’ll be wearing this bra for long hours; it should be comfortable
  • Style:  If you want a bra that will go with any outfit, pick a nude bra
  • Fit:  Avoid the uni-boob or side-boob looks with a properly fitting bra

Whether you buy a bra there or not, treat yourself to a proper bra fitting at Victoria’s Secret or some other brick and mortar bra store. This is one of those times that a professional fitting makes a world of difference. Once you really know your size and fit, it makes shopping, online and off, a whole lot easier.

How to Pack Bras

Those nicely molded cups that make you feel perky also create a tricky  packing situation . How do you pack a delicate bra that works so hard but is easily damaged or crushed?

Here are five options for packing your bras so they emerge safely from your bag. Choose the one that fits your personality and traveling style:

1. Tuck the Cups

Fold the bra in half: Twist in the bra’s center and tuck one cup inside the other cup, so the two cups are nestled together. Put socks or underwear inside the cup to help keep their shape.

This is how I travel with my bras, and after thousands of miles, I have never arrived home with crushed cups.

Note : Packing a bra this way is a polarizing topic. You’re either for it, or against it, according to a  long forum on Flyer Talk .

Short version:  If you love your lingerie and spend $50+ on a bra, you might not like the idea of twisting your bras this way. If this is you, check out the next packing method below.

2. Stack ‘Em

Pile up your bras into one tidy stack. Tuck  socks  or underwear inside the twin cups to help keep their shape. This packing method is best for bras a C-cup and larger, or push-up bras with extra padding.

Think of how Victoria’s Secret stacks their bras in a tidy line, each bra nestled into its partner.

3. Clam-Shell Tuck

Fold the bra in half so the cups are stacked on top of each other with an empty space between them, like a clam. Tuck socks or  underwear  in between the space between the cups.

4. Bra Travel Case

About the size of a toiletries bag, check out some products made specially to keep your bras from being crushed or ruined.  Her Packing List  recommends the  Cup Case .

Pro tip : However you decide to pack your bras, put it in your suitcase with the cups down. This way, you can pack other clothing around the cups to avoid them being crushed.

5.  Packing Cube  or Ziplock Bag

Keep your spare bra safe and clean by tucking it into a packing cube or ziplock bag.

Keep some extra air in the ziplock bag as cushioning.

Or designate a  packing cube  as your lingerie “drawer.” Slide your spare bra in with the cups down, and pack tights, socks, or underwear into those empty cups to help them keep their shapes.

Best Secret Pocket Travel Bras

best travel bra

The Travel Bra  ($41)

“I am super happy with the travel bra,”  says Tammy from  Tammy & Chris on the Move .

The Travel Bra looks like a sports bra, but with hidden pockets for your most valuables. This bra stashes things like credit cards, extra cash, and passport… not just your boobs, like normal bras.

Made from breathable bamboo that is anti-microbacterial and anti-odor, this bra is underwire-free and made for comfort.

Her only complaint? The passport pocket dangling off the bra.

“[My] passport dangles around a bit if you wear a loose top on top of it, but if your top is tight, this won’t happen.”

best travel bra

Handee Bra Company Racer-Back Bamboo Wire-Free Bra with Pockets ($15-40)

Ok, let’s do the bad news first: this bra doesn’t have much support. According to reviewers, the bra tends to ride up if you lift your arms.

And the pockets are too small to fit a credit card or passport.

Now for the good news:  the bra is comfortable and lightweight. One reviewer wore it on her trip to Honduras and loved it.

Verdict? If you want a functional travel bra with hidden pockets, go for The Travel Bra. They know what they’re doing. If budget is an issue, this one will probably get you through your trip.

Pro-Tip:  Want a bra with secret pockets without investing in a travel-specific bra? You probably already have one. Any push-up bra with removable gel inserts can be used to hide tiny valuables, like your USB drive with copies of all of your important information and paperwork, or a little stash of money.

Just remove the gel pads and tuck other things inside! You’re welcome.

Best Travel Bras (That Are Hiding In Your Dresser)

best travel bra

On Gossamer Sleek Micro Push Up Bra with Lace  ($48)

This is a solid everyday travel bra option, with a breathable mesh material and a great price point. Sounds like a match made in heaven for traveling through those humid climates when your clothing drowns in your sweat.

Bonus:  smooth molded cups, a little push-up padding to aid what God gave ya, and available in a low plunge for your favorite v-neck blouse for going out.

Did I mention it’s nearly invisible under clothing? Ah, perfection.

best travel bra

ThirdLove Lace Balconette Bra ($76)

“Hang on,” you might be thinking. “You’re including a gorgeous lace balconette bra on a travel bra list? What are you thinking?”

I hear you. Lace itches. Not good for long flights or bus rides.

But not this lace bra. ThirdLove says,  “It’s as gorgeous as lingerie gets, but as comfortable as our T-Shirt Bra.”

Hm, that’s a high standard. And the reviews back it up:

“This is my favorite bra. Fits me perfectly. Difficult for big busted women to find sexy lace bras, and ThirdLove offers those of us a choice in lace bras.”

“I love that when I want the support and also have a really pretty thing underneath, that can be done. Love this bra – it doesn’t dig in on bands, and the lace holds up to washing. It is as supportive as other ThirdLove bras, and one of my favs.”

best travel bra

Top Secret Prop Top Bralette  ($40)

Faz  travels between Singapore and Los Angeles a couple times each year, so she’s had ample opportunity to road test bras. Her favorite is this bralette.

“It provides minimal support, but I’m not about to do burpees on a plane, so I want to be as comfortable as possible. It fits well and the fact that it’s double layered makes sure you don’t have unnecessary nipple action on the plane.”

“What I like best is that there are no adjustable plastic bits that can dig into your skin and that the entire material is stretchy, as opposed to bras that are stretchy just at the straps and under the bust.”

She recommends washing this bra by hand.

best travel bra

Elila Leopard Lace Softcup Bra  ($25-70)

Perfect for fuller busts that need a little extra support without an underwire.  Kimmay from Hurray Kimmay  reviewed this bra:

“Super, super, super seamed support and firm band. OK for everyday? You bet! Traveling across the country? Of course! Sleeping? Mmmm it’s not as soft as other styles, so I’d say mostly no.”

best travel bra

Everlane ReNew Barely There Bra  $25

Angela, at Tortuga, says, “ They’re my favorite bras for travel. They’re super lightweight, hardly take up any room, dry quickly, and can be worn with V-necks.

Normal movement doesn’t cause the cups to move and my tatas stay covered. I don’t have the same experience doing serious dancing or lying down, but they really get the job done in day-to-day circumstances. If I squeeze my arms together, bend over, whatever, no nips. It’s great.

Also, the straps stay in place, the adjustment clasps don’t need to be tightened throughout the day, and the band doesn’t ride up when I raise my arms!

But based on the reviews on Everlane, everyone has a different experience so proceed with caution. It seems people with smaller cup sizes (A/B) have the most positive experience. Test it out at home before you commit and make sure you feel covered and supported in the way you expect. “

Best Convertible Bras for Travel

best travel bra

Lively All-Day T-Shirt Bra ($35)

I adore my Lively t-shirt bra. In fact, I’m wearing it right now. Super soft fabric, no-wrinkle cups (the edges stay flat even after washing!), and front adjusting straps combine to make this a superhero bra.

Thanks to a simple J-hook in the back, you can take this bra from classic fit to racer-back like that. *snaps fingers*

I’ve tossed all my fancy, high-end bras in favor of more Lively bras.

Psst, this bra even comes in a  oh-so-comfy wireless option that has all the sex appeal of an underwire bra .

best travel bra

Everyday Favorite Smooth Coverage Bra from Gap ($42)

Slightly padded, molded cups. Versatile enough to wear under  t-shirts  or with a dress with a curved back. Convertible straps, so you can wear it with a v-neck or a racer-back.

And the most beloved feature as noted by the reviewers: underwire with pain-free support.

Best of all? This bra might already be hiding in your underwear drawer.

Meaning: you don’t actually have to put yourself through the agony of bra shopping.

best travel bra

Wacoal’s Red Carpet Strapless Bra ($68)

Smooth fabric delivers no show-through on this strapless bra. And yes, before you ask, it comes with removable straps that you can wear classic, halter-style or racer-back.

In other words: this bra might be your secret weapon on the road to wearing those sexy  dresses  and t-shirts on chill days.

Nordstrom’s 1200+ reviews rate this strapless bra a spectacular 4.8 stars out of 5. Most notably, the reviewers rave about this bra’s ability to “stay up,” a strapless bra’s #1 most-valued skill.

Best Sports Bras for Travel

Keep your girls strapped down tight — and feeling comfortable — even on the bumpiest of adventures with a good sports bra.

Pick one with a mesh backing to let your skin breathe during strenuous activities. Or, when you’re in very humid climates.

best travel bra

Lynx Cross Back  ($60)

Holy moly, this bra takes its job, of keeping your girls stabilized with no bounce during workouts, seriously.

This sports bra was designed by a larger breasted athlete, so it knows its stuff. Thanks to its unique cross back design, all pressure is off your neck.

And, of course, it comes with the usual goodies: cooling mesh panels, max support for high-impact activities, dries quickly, and you have a full range of motion.

best travel bra

Anita Women’s Air Control Padded Cup Sports Bra ($25-99)

This sports bra is built to support you. Literally.

But it knows how to be there for you without stifling, thanks to two types of breathable mesh for ventilation.

Reviewers liked this bra, for the most part, but cautioned that if you’re a D-cup or larger, you might get a lot of bounce with high-intensity exercise or cardio.

best travel bra

North Face Sports Bra ($30-50)

Raise your hand if you’d like your sports bra to have a hidden pocket to stash your Airbnb or hotel key?

Yep, me too.

Which is exactly what this sports bra has: a hidden front pocket big enough to fit your smartphone (thank goodness!) and your keys.

Plus, this bra is breathable, lightweight, quick-drying and supportive in all the sizes from A-D cups.

A great travel bra is like a  travel backpack : It makes your travels easier by doing its job right. The first time.

You only need two or three bras on your trip, depending on your cup size and level of activities planned. Pack these bras:

  • Convertible

If you’re in the market for a new bra try one of these :

Hidden Pocket Travel Bra :  The Travel Bra  keeps your valuables tucked in your bra, not a sweaty money belt.

Best Travel Bra You Already Own : for this category, you have two choices:

  • On Gossamer Sleek Micro Push Up
  • ThirdLove Lace Balconette Bra  for on-the-road feminine sexiness and comfort

Best Convertible Bra : Hands down, go with the  Lively All-Day T-Shirt Bra . It will not fail you, especially with its ability to switch from classic to racer-back.

Best Sports Bra : go with the  North Face Sports Bra  or the  Lynx Cross Back , depending on your chest size.

Best Bras of 2024: 8 Supportive Options for Every Shape

Best Bras

Our evaluations and opinions are not influenced by our advertising relationships, but we may earn a commission from our partners’ links. This content is created independently from TIME’s editorial staff. Learn more about it.

A bra that doesn’t fit correctly—whether it’s too big, too small, unsupportive, or just plain poor quality—can disrupt your ability to carry out your day-to-day responsibilities, let alone feel good in your clothing. Unfortunately, finding one that’s right for you is no easy task, despite that there’s no shortage of options available. In fact, one Google search alone can leave you with hundreds, if not thousands, of options in a single category of bra.

What’s more: The type of bra ideal for you will look different than what might be best for your best friend or colleague. Bras, like our bodies, are unique, so finding one that fits the bill in every important area is vital. It helps to know what to look for when it comes to the right bra—and the varieties from which to choose. Here, we tapped two bra experts to help us narrow down some of the best bras on the market in every category.

Best bra for for small breasts: The Little Bra Company Lucia Signature

The Little Bra Company Women's Lucia Bra Nude 28A

The Little Bra Company Women's Lucia Bra Nude 28A

When you’re shopping for the best bra—especially if you have a specific fit concern—you don’t necessarily want to look at the best places to buy dresses . Instead, seek out a brand and/or store that focuses on bras. For instance: The Little Bra Company. This brand specializes in petite sizes, which means they’ve honed in on all of the necessary features that work for smaller busts. “The center gore of the Lucia is really narrow, so it really does guide breast tissue forward to create some great volume and shape, which is really awesome,” says bra expert, Kimmay Caldwell . “It's also convertible which is really neat so that way if you want to get you to wear it for the different style in the back, you can do that.” This brand also has a padding scale, which indicates how padded each bra is.

Specifications:

  • Band sizes: 28-34
  • Cup sizes: A-C
  • Number of colors: 3
  • Style: Push-up bra
  • Price on publish: $65

What we like:

  • Deep plunge allows bra to hide under most clothing
  • Has convertible straps and a light underwear
  • Padding scale indicates how much lift and support

What we don’t like:

  • They sometimes run out of certain sizes

Best bra for large breasts: Elomi Charley Side Support Plunge Bra

Elomi Charley Side Support Plunge Bra

Elomi Charley Side Support Plunge Bra

This UK-based lingerie and lifestyle brand specializes in creating both stylish and supportive bras for women with larger cup sizes and fuller busts. The Charlie, in particular, offers an elegant underwire and a front plunge that can be worn under most clothing, even those that have a deep neckline. It has reinforced side panels that bring the breasts forward, an elasticized edge around the top of the cups and it even converts to a racerback with a J-hook. Caldwell gives this bra a thumbs up for plus-size women and those with large breasts because it goes all the way up to a UK JJ, which in the U.S. is a much fuller cup.

  • Band sizes: 32-46
  • Cup sizes: DD-JJ
  • Number of colors: 9
  • Style: Support plunge bra
  • Price on publish: $49.50-$66.00
  • Fully customizable fit
  • Converts to a racerback with J-hook
  • Plunge front allows you to wear with most clothing items
  • Some reviewers report that the cups run small

The contour cups provide light coverage and you can customize them with fully adjustable and close-set straps. If this becomes the “it” bra for you, it comes in 14 different colorways so you can stock up on a few great hues.

  • Band sizes: 30-38

What to consider when choosing a bra

There are myriad factors to consider when choosing the right bra. Here’s a look at the most important areas to pay attention to when shopping for a bra.

Proper fit is crucial for comfort and support. Cami Raymond, bra expert and Senior Design Director for Ruby Ribbon , recommends ensuring that the band fits snugly around your ribcage without riding up. “It should be parallel to the ground and allow for only two fingers to fit comfortably underneath,” she says.

Raymond recommends that the cups fully encapsulate your breast tissue without any spillage or gaping with the underwire (if present) encircling your breasts without digging into the tissue.

Adjustable straps

Adjustable straps are also a plus, since they allow you to make alterations for certain outfits or potential shifts in your own sizing.

When choosing material, Raymond suggests always selecting something breathable like cotton or moisture-wicking spandex fabrics if you’re prone to sweating.

How we chose the best bras

We reached out to bra specialists to better understand the specific qualities shoppers should look for in every category of bra to find the perfect variety. We chose our picks based on their recommendations, as well as by combing through customer reviews to see which brands and styles customers liked best.

Best places to buy bras

There’s no shortage of places to buy bras—both in-person and online. (In a way, the myriad options begin to feel like the quest for finding the best anti-aging serums or best night creams : A lot of promises, but not a lot of certainty when browsing.) For the most accurate fit, Caldwell suggests going to a certified bra fitter at a local boutique if you want a high level of service and expertise, as they can walk you through all of your options and support you to find the best size and fit in each bra. “Department stores typically carry a smaller range of sizes, or have more stock online and bra specific online retailers have a lot of options, but you'll have to purchase multiple sizes and check the fit, then return what doesn't work,” she adds.

How to find your correct bra size

The most accurate way to find your correct bra size is to actually measure your band size using soft measuring tape. Next, you can measure your bust size by standing up straight with your arms by your side. Measure the fullest part of your bust and round this to the nearest whole number. Your cup size will be the number of your band size subtracted from your bust measurement.

How should a bra fit?

Your bra should feel comfortable; it shouldn't pinch, poke or cause discomfort. The band of your bra should fit snugly around your ribcage and sit parallel to the ground, explains Raymond. “It should not ride up in the back and your breasts should fill the cups fully without any spillage or extra space or gaping,” she says. “The straps should be adjusted so they stay comfortably on your shoulders without digging in or sliding off.”

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What is the best bra to wear with anything.

The best bra to wear with anything is typically the one you find to be the most comfortable. Ideally, this is a seamless and neutral-colored bra that won’t show underneath most clothing and will allow you the flexibility and freedom to perform your day-to-day activities.

What is considered the most comfortable bra?

Comfort is unique to the individual; what you might find comfortable may not be to your friend or neighbor. Therefore, Raymond points out that the key to finding the most comfortable bra for you is to consider your personal preferences along with other factors like body shape, skin sensitivities, any body pains, etc. “Trying on different styles and brands, getting professionally fitted, and reading reviews from other customers can also help you find a comfortable bra that suits your needs,” she adds.

What is the best brand of bra?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to which brand carries the best bras; it really depends on your individual preferences, unique body shape, as well as your needs and wants.

Which bra is best to wear daily?

When choosing a bra that you will plan to wear daily, take into consideration your wardrobe and make note of the color scheme. “If you wear a lot of darker colors, try to get something that is either black or a dark neutral, since, if you wear a light-colored bra underneath your dark clothing, the color will bleed onto that light color and your bras will become dingy looking,” warns Caldwell. “Also, keep in mind that when wearing the right size and style for you, an underwire bra can be quite comfy.”

How many bras should I own?

According to Caldwell, most people need about seven, with two or three bras working with about 70 percent of their wardrobe. “For most, those are some really great, smooth t-shirt bras, a fuller coverage t-shirt bra, a strapless or convertible bra to go with specific outfits, some sports bras, a wire-free lounge or sleep bra, and something fun that makes you say hooray,” she says.

Why Trust PEOPLE?

People / Getty / Gwyneth Paltrow / Instagram

As a travel writer, my suitcase is nearly always half-packed. Long flights demand comfort, but new sights and cities demand style . To complicate matters, I’m a maximalist, so traditional travel advice to cram a small capsule wardrobe into a backpack never quite appeals to me, even if I have to fight the luggage scale when checking in for my flight.

Packing properly for any trip can be daunting, whether you’re throwing together a duffel for a girls’ weekend or filling a checked bag  for a multi-month jaunt all over Europe. Still, my adventures across multiple countries, climates, and time zones taught me to reach for certain staples — like comfortable walking shoes and a reliable crossbody purse — time and time again. While nailing down my perfect travel wardrobe, I turned to on-the-go celebrities like Taylor Swift and Emily Blunt for inspiration.

A packing list comprised of versatile dresses, flowy pants, maxi skirts, and breezy shirts can go a long way — literally. Read on for the best celeb-inspired travel clothes for women to pack for your upcoming trips, as determined by shopper insights, professional style writers, celebrity research, and more.

Dresses give you plenty of bang for your buck when it comes to traveling. For one, they tend to be flexible compared to other clothing items: You can dress them up or down more effectively to target a specific dress code. Chic maxi dresses reigned supreme last summer, and Meghan Markle recently elevated  that trend in a silky high-neck maxi dress — stylish enough for a formal engagement but breezy enough for an afternoon in the sun.

Dresses of varying lengths also tend to be more conducive to layering. While summer may be “sundress season,” and we see celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow reaching for transitional midi styles in spring, the right travel dress can be an effective staple in your winter wardrobe, too. You can keep the style in your cold-weather repertoire by winterizing the look like Emily Ratajkowski . Opt for a darker colorway, chunky boots, and maybe a sweater.

Editors Say

“I bought this maxi dress from The Drop when it was on sale, and I’m going to buy two more at full price — that’s how much I love it. In fact, I have to force myself not to wear it multiple times a week. It’s comfortable, lightweight, and flattering for my short, curvy body. It even has pockets and adjustable straps that can be crossed in the back. The best part, though? I don’t have to wear a bra!” — Kayla Kitts , shopping editor

The right flowy pants can make the ultimate base layer, whether you’re on a nine-hour flight or dressing to the nines. Loose, roomier pants have been all the rage this year, with celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence , Zendaya , and Emily Blunt all sporting various wide-leg styles.

Similarly, breezy white maxi skirts are majorly on trend right now (and always), stylist Liz Teich told PEOPLE. Just look at Katie Holmes stepping out in NYC. She exemplifies how airy styles can be  great for warmer weather, but still look polished. Plus, the lighter fabrics are literally lighter in your bag, so why not throw in another?

Hermoza Rachel Skirt Dress

While this one’s more of a splurge, its multifunctionality makes it a worthy all-in-one piece for any vacation. As a frequent traveler and Hawai’i resident, I was absolutely flabbergasted (and fascinated) when I found out this floral maxi skirt/dress hybrid is made of durable swimsuit material.

Pair it with the matching swimsuit top for a striking two-piece set by the beach, wear it as a vibrant maxi dress to dinner, or style the skirt alone with a gauzy button-down and sandals for a jaunt through town. Of course, I love how convenient it is to wash and dry for travels, too.

Daily Practice by Anthropologie Parachute Pants

Anthropologie

These pants are my personal go-to. I wear them to work in, to work out in, and to casual gatherings and nights out with friends. Most crucially, I wear them every single time I pass through an airport. They’re incredibly comfortable, lightweight (I tend to overheat on travel days), and adaptable, with plenty of pockets for easy ID and passport access. I’ve bought them in multiple colors, from neutrals to bolds.

Even if you’re wearing the same pair of jeans day in, day out for the duration of your ten-day stint to Australia, Greece, or wherever you’re traveling, the right top can make a similar foundation feel like an entirely different look. First, you’ll want a collection of sleek, basic tanks and tops for ultimate versatility. Or perhaps a nautical, striped button down, ideally summoning visions of boat days and beachside barbecues. (Oh, and easy sun protection.) As Jessica Alba proves with white jeans and coordinating sneakers, the look is seasonal and sophisticated .

And is there anything better than wearing a delicate eyelet blouse on a hot summer day? A breezy blouse can serve as a dressy swimsuit cover-up at the beach. It can also keep your wardrobe work-friendly while on a Zoom meeting across time zones, or give a romantic vibe during date night.

Wear it loose like Taylor Swift out for a summer walk, or tucked in like Jennifer Aniston at dinner in Paris. Either way, a casual blouse might just be a better companion on your vacation than your plus one.

Wild Fable Cap Sleeve Ruched Side Seam T-Shirt

This pullover top can be styled in a variety of ways, making it a must-have on any trip with limited packing space. The subtle side ruching and cap sleeve add some feminine detail that dress it up for more elevated occasions, but it’s definitely casual enough to rock on a daily basis. As another PEOPLE writer noted , the cap sleeve is an ideal middle ground between a tank and short sleeve — which might be why Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift are so fond of the style.

Sizes: XXS–4X | Materials: Recycled polyester, spandex | Colors: 4

H&M Top with Eyelet Embroidery Sleeves

A simple eyelet short-sleeve top can serve you on many occasions, whether jetting off on a day trip or trekking to your regular weekend brunch spot. At only $20, this adorable H&M puff-sleeve is just frothy enough to add a little je ne sais quoi , but has a  French simplicity at its core.

This soft, effortless shirt has a slightly oversized fit for extra comfort.

The Other Travel Clothes You’re Forgetting

Tops? Check. Flowy pants and skirts? Check. Dresses that you can wear out or treat as a cover-up? Practically the daily uniform. Still, there are a few other staples you’ll want to make sure you have on hand, too. It’s an oft-repeated cliché, but layering truly is key.

Levi’s Womens 501 Original Jean Shorts

These Levi’s shorts are currently 40 percent off at Amazon.

Jean shorts are essential for casual days strolling through a city or impromptu meetups with friends. Throw them on over a sleek swimsuit or break them out in transitional weather. And this isn’t the only Levi’s denim we’re fond of — two of its most popular jeans hold space in our team’s closets, too.

Sizes: 23–39 | Materials: Denim | Colors: 44

AE Long Weekend Crewneck Sweater

This American Eagle Crewneck Sweater is 60 percent off for a limited time.

A layerable neutral sweater is another travel must-have, especially in that frigid airplane air conditioning. Similarly, for those long stretches away from home, an oversized sweater can also be a cuddly comfort for when you’re missing your own bed.

Sizes: XXS–L | Materials: Cotton | Colors: 1

How to Pack the Best Travel Clothes

When building your travel wardrobe, you’ll want to consider factors like trip duration, climate, and more. Do you want year-round items or would you rather commit to rotating your staples seasonally? Will you have access to laundry? (If not, you’ll want to opt for fabrics that wick away odor and sweat so you can get multiple wears out of each item.) Are there sights or situations that have etiquette requirements and dress codes requiring a certain amount of coverage?

Some personal guidance as a travel expert: Many packing guides might swear by a neutral, minimalist capsule wardrobe for ultimate frequency of wear, but you shouldn’t be afraid to go maximalist either. If you pick comfortable, durable pieces, you’ll still get more use from those “singular” funky outfits than you expect — and your camera roll will thank you for choosing the pieces you actually love most. Similarly, accessories like bold jewelry or belts generally take up very little luggage real estate but go a long way in elevating any look. Might as well add some pizzazz to your Pisa pic, right?

And don’t forget the packing cubes and travel organizers to get the most space out of your carry-on suitcase , either.

The 16 Best Sticky Bras for Discreet Support

Undetectable is the name of the game

While we have our fair share of favorites, we wanted some expert advice on choosing the best sticky bras. Jessica Pfister, vice president of Le Mystere , says, “My number one rule for shopping sticky bras is comfort. No matter how amazing you look, if you are taped to the hilt or bandaged up so much that you cannot breathe, you are not going to be able to enjoy your occasion.” Shopbop fashion director Caroline Maguire recommends you “always make sure you’re selecting one that has a strong adhesive and offers enough coverage for your bust,” adding that the most ideal coverage for you will come down to bra size. “If you are a smaller cup size , sometimes just a nipple cover will do the trick,” says Pfister. For larger breasts , shopper reviews will come in handy. “Try to find feedback, and images, if possible, from someone with a similar size.”

So now it’s time to shop your new adhesive companion. With some help from Pfister and Maguire, we compiled the 16 best sticky bras for all busts and occasions. Nip slips no more.

The Best Sticky Bras of 2024

Ultralite Nubra

Best Lightweight Sticky Bra

Boob Tape Rolls

Best Sticky Bra Breast Tape

Good lines boob tape rolls.

“This Fashion Forms style is my favorite, because it’s super lightweight, medical-grade adhesive, and virtually invisible,” Pfister says. She notes that stick-up cups work best on wearers up to a C cup. They should cover most of your breast tissue while clinging to your chest wall instead of on your breast tissue. “This will result in the best lift and support.”

Sizes: A–DD

What reviewers are saying: “Love this bra! It’s a great alternative to buying 3 or 4 different specialty bra styles to suit your every single dress. This one bra is great under any strapless or backless dress. In fact, it’s some comfy I’ll wear it under t-shirts or sweaters from time to time when I don’t feel like wearing a bra but when one is needed.”

This best-selling seamless adhesive bra comes in assorted colors and prints, from various skin tones to black and leopard.

What reviewers are saying : “The adhesive is SO STRONG—almost painful, so go slowly when removing. This bra is definitely not falling off. Some bras leave adhesive residue on my skin, but this one does not.”

Whether you tape for a push-up effect or just nipple coverage, classic boob tape can come in handy more often than you think. Promising eight hours of hold (which require some building up to), this waterproof and sweat-proof tape is a durable choice.

What reviewers are saying: “I used the straight tape in regular strength with my wedding dress and it was absolutely amazing! I was worried with the neckline of my dress that it would be difficult to hold my 38 DDD’s, especially without covering my tattoo but to my surprise it held out beautifully without any irritation! Removal can be tricky but with enough time and olive oil, it is painless.”

Nippies Skin Reusable Covers

Skin Reusable Covers

When an adhesive bra doesn’t quite work with a slinkier silhouette, these sticky silicone breast petals provide just enough coverage. “I adore Nippies because they are available in a plethora of skin tones and come in two different sizes, which is rare and precious,” Pfister notes.

Sizes: S/M, M/L

What reviewers are saying: “I have both sizes of the nippie skins. My cup size fluctuates from C-DD. The M/L is great for the times I feel I need a bit more coverage with a sheer bodice. They last all day, I’ve worn them up to 14 hours. They clean easily and store easy. The edges do start to lose adhesion after about ten wears.”

Brostown Boobs Tape and Disposable Round Nipple Covers

Boobs Tape and Disposable Round Nipple Covers

“If you need incredible lift and manipulation at all costs, adhesive tape will be your savior,” says Pfister, describing this tape and petal set as a breathable option made with cotton and spandex.

“Keep in mind that you may not be super comfortable and will feel restricted, so try and wear this only for short periods,” she adds. You can also layer tape with a nipple cover for extra protection, or if you’re using particularly sticky tape.

Sizes: One size

What reviewers are saying: “I’m a triple D, maybe even bigger than that, and these held them up real nice! Very flattering.”

Nood Game Changer Adhesive Bra

Game Changer Adhesive Bra

This five-pack of adhesive breast tape comes in four skin-toned hues to lift and shape beneath the trickiest of necklines.

What reviewers are saying: “I wanted to try this product for a very long time. I purchased the product because I have a dress that was uniquely cut in the front with cutouts, and I would have been able to wear a traditional bra with it. I wanted to wear this dress to a holiday party. I’m not going to lie, I was a little skeptical and nervous to try the NOOD lift and shape bra. It worked like a charm—it stayed in place all night very securely. I was dancing, and it was hot in the restaurant but it never moved from the initial placement. I highly recommend the NOOD lift and shape bra. It really is a game-changer!”

Fashion Forms Volumptuous Backless Strapless Bra

Volumptuous Backless Strapless Bra

Umooie Sticky Bra (2 Pairs)

Sticky Bra (2 Pairs)

This popular Amazon buy features a beige and a black silicone adhesive bra, each with a lace-up drawstring for a cleavage-enhancing push-up effect.

What reviewers are saying: “I love the low profile shape, it fit really nicely under my dress without showing. I wear a 30D and this gave me perfect cleavage and just enough support.”

Victoria’s Secret Pink Backless Bra

Backless Bra

This adhesive silicone backless bra—available in three skin-toned shades—features light padding and can be worn up to 25 times. Plus, it comes with reusable packaging for storage or travel.

Sizes: AA/A, B/C, D/DD

What reviewers are saying: “This bra is cute, super comfy, easy to throw on. It stays on all day and lasts about six months. I love the mocha color! I also love the pink dot inside the middle. It makes it easy to know where to place it. You will love this bra! Best backless stick-on bra ever!!”

Nood No-Show Nipple Covers

No-Show Nipple Covers

Nood strikes again, this time with a flower-shaped cover that is a personal favorite of Maguire’s. “They’re sweatproof, which is always a win,” she explains, “and the skin texture is so great.”

Hollywood Fashion Secrets Silicone Nipple Cover-Ups

Silicone Nipple Cover-Ups

Sticky bras can seem daunting. These nipple covers are perfect for those looking for an easy entrance into the world of strapless clothing, not running you more than $15.

What reviewers are saying : “I have purchased these twice now. The first set lasted for years. I don’t wear them every day, only when I think I might need them based on my clothing. They are very sticky. I keep them carefully stored in their plastic holder. They really do a great job covering up. When these wear out I will definitely buy more.”

Gatherall Bra

Bra

Gatherall was founded to perfect the sticky bra—and with that level of undivided attention, you can trust its designs. This female-owned and -operated company’s products provide strapless and backless support.

What reviewers are saying : “Best backless bra ever. I tried many backless bras for my wedding dress and no other bra felt as good and natural as Gatherall. Highly recommend, don’t even bother with other bras.”

Gatherall Nipple Covers

Nipple Covers

If you want to try out the aforementioned brand, but don't want to commit to the full bra, try its nipple covers. A tapered edge technology keeps them flush to your skin.

What reviewers are saying : “These are the BEST nipple covers I’ve ever used and I’ve used several through the years. I’m one that sweats a lot and these didn’t budge at all and stay out perfectly. Highly recommend!”

Magic Bodyfashion Silicone Lift Covers

Silicone Lift Covers

These individual silicone breast covers lift to create a fuller and rounder shape while remaining exceptionally discreet.

Sizes: S/M, L/XL

What reviewers are saying: “I felt comfortable wearing these in lieu of a bra with backless dress. I am a C, so these provided a decent lift and stayed in place with no adjustment for over six hours in humid conditions.”

Intimissimi Transparent Back Strapless Bra

Transparent Back Strapless Bra

Upon first glance, this looks like every other sticky bra. Right? Nope, it actually has clear side bands to help hold the bra in place. Grippy gel on the cups also keeps the bra secured to your chest. It’s the perfect option for those looking for a little extra support.

Sizes: 34–38

Savage × Fenty Xtra Stay Adhesive Bra

Xtra Stay Adhesive Bra

Rihanna’s label offers a uniquely shaped adhesive style. It gives a boost of cleavage in the front-closure design, which is given a signature embellishment in a rose-gold-tone logo clasp.

Sizes: A–DDD

What reviewers are saying: “This bra has the best suction to hold everything in place. I have already worn this multiple times and reordered another one just to have a back up. The style with the clip is unique and keeps it sexy.”

How long do sticky bras last?

shape, rectangle

This will depend on the maintenance as well as quality of your sticky bra. If you take care of your sticky bra and store it well, a good one could last you around 30 to 40 wears, but they might lose adhesiveness with time. On the other hand, a pack of non-reusable ones or boob tape won’t last more than one wear.

How do you take care of a sticky bra?

shape, rectangle

To make a sticky bra’s adhesive last, proper skin prep is essential. “I highly recommend a shower to ensure all the skin’s natural oils are removed from your body, along with any lotions,” Pfister advises. “Once clean, make sure you towel dry, or better yet, use a cool blow dryer to dry the skin. Make sure not to apply deodorant anywhere near the bra to ensure its adhesion. Apply one cup at a time to ensure no gaping.”

Post-event, Pfister says to clean your adhesive bra with water and mild soap gently.

The 7 Most Comfortable Bras of 2024

The 7 Most Comfortable Bras of 2024

Let's face it: bras are necessary, but finding a comfortable one can often feel daunting. If you land a poorly performing bra, it has a negative impact not only on your mind but also on your silhouette, posture, and so on. Any bra you wear should be comfortable and well-made, giving you confidence and support. At ThirdLove, we've made it our mission to design bras that meet all these needs. Whether you are looking for everyday essentials or something for a special occasion, we've got you covered. Here are the seven most comfortable bras of 2024.

1. T-Shirt Bra

The t-shirt bra is a wardrobe staple, and for good reason. It offers smooth, seamless coverage that disappears under clothes, making it perfect for everyday wear. The ThirdLove 24/7® Classic T-Shirt Bra is a crowd favorite in this category. It is designed with smooth, soft fabric and memory foam cups that mold to your shape, offering personalized support and a flawlessly smooth silhouette under even the most clingy tops. Its pleated straps stay hidden under your clothes without slipping.

The 24/7® Classic T-Shirt Bra is a comfortable bra perfect for all-day wear. Whether at the office or running errands, this bra has your back. Explore our entire T-shirt bra collection to discover all our T-shirt bra options.

2. Plunge Bra

If you want to enhance your natural shape while maintaining comfort, the 24/7® Classic Uplift Plunge Bra is your go-to. This bra features a deep V-neckline, perfect for pairing with daring necklines or revealing tops. It also features removable pads that allow you to customize your cleavage and show as much or as little as you like.

While it is an excellent piece for special occasions, the 24/7® Classic Uplift Plunge Bra is also versatile and comfortable for everyday wear. To discover the full range of ThirdLove plunge bras and find even more low-cut companions, check out all ThirdLove Plunge Bras .

3. Unlined Bra

Sometimes, you only need a touch of support without the extra padding. ThirdLove's 24/7® Classic Second Skin Unlined bra is there for those who crave a barely-there feel. It is crafted with breathable, silky, smooth microfiber fabric that moves with you.

This bra is designed to feel like a second skin (a supportive second skin), providing minimal coverage with maximum comfort. It is perfect for those who want a lightweight option that still provides ample support and lets their natural beauty shine. You can wear it every day, layer it under loose-fitting tops, or when lounging at home. Alternatively, you can find more unlined bra options on our Unlined Bra Collection .

4. Wireless Bra

Most women fear trying wireless bras because they think they cannot offer sufficient support. ThirdLove's 24/7® Classic Wireless Bra is a testament to the fact that support and comfort can coexist beautifully. If you are looking for the most comfortable bras for women, you ought to try this. It offers smooth shaping and lift while remaining comfortable and well-concealed under your clothes.

Unlike other wireless bras that barely fit, the 24/7® Classic Wireless Bra has three times more sizes for a precise fit. What's more, it comes with adjustable straps and a back closure. With ThirdLove's extensive Wireless Bras , you can dive into the world of wire-free comfort and find your perfect fit.

5. Full Coverage Bra

The 24/7® Classic Perfect Coverage Bra is a pleasure to wear all day long, especially if you are blessed with large breasts or just need a little extra support and coverage. It provides full-coverage cups that support and shape, ensuring you feel secure all day.

The Perfect Coverage bra uses wide memory foam straps to ensure they don't dig. The no-show double-layer back and the memory foam cups mold to your shape to create a sleek and smooth silhouette. If you prefer a more modest approach or need more support, check out the full-coverage bras .

6. Minimizer Bra

A minimizer bra is an excellent option for those seeking a sleeker silhouette or a more comfortable fit under specific clothing. ThirdLove's 24/7® Classic Unlined Minimizer Bra reduces your bust size by up to two inches while maintaining comfort. It features unlined bra cups that redistribute breast tissue, making your bust appear smaller.

The Unlined Minimizer Bra offers a sleek, smooth finish under your clothes thanks to its side and back smoothing. Perfect for button-down shirts or any time you want a sleeker profile, this unlined bra is the unsung hero of your lingerie drawer. Browse our Minimizer Bra Collection and find comfortable bras for a smooth look.

7. Strapless Bra

Last but not least, when strapless nights (or days) call, you'll need a strapless and comfortable bra. For that, the ThirdLove 24/7® Classic Strapless comes to save the day. Its unique design allows it to stay in place, providing reliable support without needing straps. Silicone lining at the top and bottom securely grips your body, ensuring a stay-put fit throughout the day. The supportive foam cups also provide lift and shape, keeping you confident and comfortable.

The Classic Strapless bra comes with two sets of detachable straps for multiway wear for those days when the straps might come in handy. To find more of ThirdLove’s strapless bras , check out our collection.

Sports bras are great to wear on long travel days, most importantly, because you never know what bumps you’ll experience on your mode of transportation. See what our readers say is the best sports bra for travel!

Best Sports Bra for Travel

Travel Fashion Girl help! A reader asks:

Hey, ladies. I see many of you have added sports bras to your packing capsule. And many of you say you take sports bras because they’re cooler … and more comfy. Every sports bra I have tried squashes me or makes me look like I have a uni-boob. Please share your favorite sports bra. For reference, I am a 38DD. Would love to find a flattering sports bra, or is that like finding gold at the end of the rainbow?

If you plan on working out or have many demanding activities planned on your vacation, you will want to pack at least one sports bra. You may even want to pack a spare, depending on your level of activity. If you wear one and need to hand wash it, you’ll have a backup for the next day while your other bra is drying. Read on to see our readers’ favorite sports bras as well as how to choose the best one for you, how to wash a sports bra when traveling, and which color to pick.

The Champion bra provides great support in high-impact activities and helps keep you dry because of its moisture-wicking fabric.

One reader says she owns a couple of the Champion sport bras and says they are “lightweight, supportive for my 32D cup. The one with hooks in the back are designed for high support, and they hold up very well for running and boxing.”

Another reader who is a half marathoner races in the Champion sports bra and says that it offers “high-impact support, and I never get any chafing at all.”

Many of our readers like to designate one packing cube just for their bras and underwear!

One reader shares how happy she is with this bra. “It gives a flattering, mostly normal, separated shape as far as sports bras go!” Another adds, “I own a Panache wire-free sports bra , and it gives you a good shape, similar to a proper bra.”

I personally own this sports bra, and I love the Panache Underwire, with its phenomenal size range! Panache also has a wireless version, too.

One reader says, “I’m an ex-semi-pro rugby player and swear by them,” while another adds, “As a 30E, I’ve found Shock Absorber bras comfortable. I don’t have a lot of choice of bras for that size.”

Freya Women’s Active Underwire Molded Sports Bra

If you struggle finding the best molded sports bra, look no further than  Freya ! One reader shares how great the Freya sports bra is. “I received it from a bra whisper in NYC. I wear it as a regular bra, too. I use the back hook to take weight off the band, and it’s really comfortable and keeps the girls up and separated.”

Several readers tried the Freya’s sport bra after struggling to find a comfortable underwire bra that they could stand. One reader says she finds it “so comfortable, and it looks great — not like some of those awful sports bras that squish everything together.”

Triumph Triaction Free Motion Sports Bra

Triumph Triaction Sports Bra

The  Triumph Triaction Sports Bra is non-wired and has a full cup for greater support and comfort. One reader says that the sports bras from Triumph Triaction are “cute, and they offer a great range in sizes.”

Another reader says, “I use it for sports every day, and I am happy with this bra,” while another says, “I love these bras! Super comfortable and cool.” Sounds like winning reviews to us!

Choosing a Sports Bra

It all starts with picking (and packing)  the best bras,  whether it’s a regular bra or a sports bra.

It is so important that you get a professional fitting to determine the best bra for your unique shape and to make sure you are wearing the correct size.

For women of all chest sizes, especially those with larger busts, it is highly recommended that you invest in a great sports bra to strap yourself in tight during adventurous travel activities . The type of activity you are engaging in may determine the support level you will need.

For low-intensity activities, such as yoga or hiking, you need a sports bra that is supportive and stylish to hold you in tight. With high-intensity activities, you might prefer a bra with a back opening or mesh, to let your skin breathe, and straps that are adjustable. Sports bras with built-in cups also keep your girls in check during bouncier activities.

Washing a Sports Bra

Once you find the perfect sports bras, make sure you look after them! It’s best to hand wash them . Always air dry and never put your bras in the dryer. Hand washing your bras with gentle soap or baby detergent and cool water is the best way to prolong their use. If you plan to wash your sports bra when you travel, be sure it is made of material that will dry overnight so it’s ready to wear or pack the next day.

The Best Color for a Sports Bra

The color is up to you, but if you’re a light-packing traveler or like multi-use items, consider a neutral hue , such as a skin-tone hue, black, or white. This way, you can wear it as a regular bra, if needed.

Here’s a quick summary on the best sport bras for travel!
