We had a brilliant time on this tour. Being a couple of seniors and therefore less agile than most of the group we were delighted by the consideration given to us by Janet our wonderful tour leader. The alternative walks which still afforded magnificent views kept us extremely happy while the youngsters went off on more challenging hikes. The only grumble we have is the poor quality of the seating on the minibus. Lack of leg room was detrimental to arthritic knees. But to Janet our huge Thank You.

Wonderful trip! Highly recommend! Our guide/driver Kevin really knew Kangaroo Island and provided some flexibility in the schedule. Accommodations in both Penneshaw and Kingscote were comfortable. The breakfasts provided were very good. Favorites were Flinders Chase National Park and the Remarkable Rocks, the Penneshaw Penguins, and Seal Bay.

An excellent trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. We were a small group that got on well and we were looked after by our guide and driver Craig. He was knowledgeable about the sites we visited and was also able to provide a detailed background to the history of each site and kept us informed regarding the local flora and fauna. The coastline along the coastal road is stunning. The accomadation was good, the younger members of the group used the shared rooms while I opted for my own room (its an age thing ) The first day was a long day travelling but we had plenty of breaks. I would recommend starting from Adelaide rather than Melbourne and finish on a long day driving on the final day I would strongly recommend this trip and the operator David

This is a great day out, firstly visiting the worlds’ largest rocking horse and wildlife park in Gumeracha.

Your first winery stop for the day will be an interactive tasting at Jacobs Creek, one of the best known wineries in the world. We then experience a second wine tasting and same great home-made pizza for lunch at Lambert Estate Vineyard.

After lunch you will take in majestic views of the region from the Menglers Hill Lookout before stopping at your third and final structured wine tasting at Wolf Blass Wines as you return back to Adelaide in the late afternoon with a new bunch of mates.

Your eight-day outback adventure begins early morning in Adelaide, where your Storyteller Guide will greet you.

After a caffeine stop at the coastal town of Port Wakefield, arrive in the Southern Flinders Ranges for a morning hike at Alligator Gorge. Located in Mount Remarkable National Park, this is the perfect way to start the tour.

After lunch, have a quick stroll around Quorn, famous for the Pichi Richi Railway.

Arrive at Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park and embark on a hike at Arkaroo Rock, a significant cultural site for the local Adnyamathanha people.

This afternoon, experience a Welcome to Country in the Adnyamathanha people’s language at Wilpena Pound Resort.

Feeling connected to Country and nature, arrive at Skytrek Willow Springs Station. This 70,000-acre working sheep station features secluded bush camping and is our base while we unearth the Flinders Ranges. After a tasty dinner prepared by your Guide, kick back and enjoy front-row seats to one of the most spectacular light shows on Earth. The Flinders Ranges is famed as having some of the Southern Hemisphere’s clearest skies. Roll out your swag under a blanket of stars twinkling over the ancient landscape.

The fossils discovered in the Flinders Ranges are so old that geologists had to revise the geologic timeline of Earth’s history, identifying a new era called the Ediacaran period.

After breakfast, we will unearth more of this amazing park as we pull on our hiking boots for a morning hike through tall river red gums and past waterholes, culminating with breathtaking views over the surrounding wilderness.

Regeneration is in our DNA, so today, we will meet with a Park Ranger to learn about conservation efforts within Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. We can also give back by participating in some meaningful conservation work.

After lunch, we’ll take a magical scenic drive at Brachina Gorge.

Quench your thirst with a well-deserved drink at an iconic country pub before returning to camp to relax and have dinner.

*Note: The Oodnadatta Track is an unsealed dirt road, and the conditions of the track depend heavily on the weather. Today we are getting off the beaten path and travelling along a section of one of Australia’s most iconic unsealed roads, the iconic Oodnadatta Track.

Drive through eerie and moonlike desert scenery as the landscape uncovers highlights like Lake Eyre (Australia’s largest salt lake) and the Mutonia Sculpture Park.

Travel through Anna Creek Station, the world’s largest working cattle station. Covering an area of six million acres, it is equivalent to the size of Belgium!

Come late afternoon, arrive in the tiny outback settlement of William Creek. In the middle of nowhere, on the way to somewhere, this quirky town with a population of ten is an icon of the South Australian Outback.

After dinner, you might like to enjoy a cold drink in the heritage-listed William Creek Hotel, which opened in 1887. Then curl up in your swag under the stars in the campground.

The total driving today is approximately 500km.

After breakfast, journey to the famous underground town of Coober Pedy. The opal capital of Australia features a sun-baked lunar landscape, fascinating history and a unique way of life.

Visit the town’s main attraction, Umoona Opal Mine & Museum. Go ‘noodling’ or fossicking and learn about these precious stones during an opal-cutting demonstration.

Afterwards, visit Josephine’s Gallery & Kangaroo Orphanage. Established in 2008 to take in orphaned kangaroos from the far north of South Australia, it is about the size of Germany!

The gallery here is a world-class Aboriginal Art Gallery with an extensive range of Aboriginal artefacts and significant works by many of Australia’s best-known Indigenous artists.

The rest of the day is yours to do whatever you please, and there is plenty to explore.

Stay in a unique underground bunkhouse tonight and grab dinner at one of the many underground eateries.

Today, the driving distance is approximately 170km.

Today we have some distance to cover. Travel north, past the Dingo Fence and the Aboriginal Heritage site, The Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park, where you will be mesmerised by the scenery of the Moon Plains.

Then, crossing into the Northern Territory, travel onwards to Watarrka National Park, the site of Kings Canyon.

Come late afternoon, arrive at our campsite at the Kings Creek Station. Relax, soak up the serenity, and, on warmer days, enjoy a swim in the pool.

Have your camera ready for a stunning desert sunset from the sunset viewing platform before dinner at the Station restaurant eatery and settling in for the night.

Today, we drive approximately 770km.

It’s an early start this morning for the spellbinding Kings Canyon Rim Walk, which is guaranteed to be one of the most magical experiences of your life. With its 300-metre-high sandstone walls, hidden waterholes, fern forests, chasms, canyons and caverns, Watarrka National Park is central Australia’s answer to an oasis.

Take in the 360-degree views and journey through Priscilla’s Crack, made famous by the classic Australian movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert. From there, see the sandstone domes known as the Lost City and the lush greenery and watering hole of the aptly named Garden of Eden.

After lunch, rest your legs on the drive to our final destination, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Late this afternoon, watch an unforgettable sunset over Uluru before retreating to camp for dinner.

Then, roll out your swag upon the red Earth and under billions of stars after dinner at camp.

Driving today is approximately 350km.

Rising early, breathe deep and soak up the serenity of a sunrise over Uluru. As the sunlight plays with the landscape, the rock formations change colour before your eyes.

Next, it’s time to get close to this natural wonder. At 348 metres high and some 550 million years old, feel a powerful presence the moment you set eyes on it. A guided 10km Uluru base walk is your best opportunity to connect with Uluru and learn its stories. Relax beside tranquil waterholes, take a break under a magnificent Sheoak tree and peer into hidden caves.

Afterwards, stop for lunch and visit the Cultural Centre to deepen your understanding of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. You can learn about Anangu culture and the park’s natural environment through exhibits and free presentations with Anangu and park rangers.

This afternoon experience a fun and inspiring dot painting workshop with a talented local Anangu artist and interpreter. During this wonderful 1.5-hour authentic experience, you will learn about ancient symbols used in Anangu art and teachings and will be taught some introductory Pitjantjatjara words (the local language spoken by Anangu). Use this knowledge to create your own artwork to take home and treasure forever.

This afternoon, return to camp for some free time. Relax by the pool or enjoy some of the activities at Ayers Rock Resort, such as a didgeridoo performance, a guided garden walk or discovering artifacts at the museum.

Enjoy a tasty dinner at camp tonight.

Today we only drive around 60km. You may walk up to 10km today if you do the full Uluru base-walk. However, shorter Uluru walks are available.

On the final day of the tour, an early start is rewarded with a spellbinding Kata Tjuta sunrise.

Translating to the Pitjantjatjara word for ‘Many Heads’, the 36 domes of Kata Tjuta are a defining feature of the Red Centre landscape both topographically and spiritually. Rising 546 metres above the surrounding plain, its tip is the highest point for miles, while the site’s ridges and ravines are closely connected with numerous Indigenous creation-time stories. Many of these stories are kept secret from outsiders, but you’ll learn a little about the local Anangu culture and appreciate the beauty of their land on a rewarding hike.

Your outback adventure ends in the late morning on our return to Yulara. From here you will be catching an included bus transfer from Yulara to Alice Springs, arriving around 7pm.

Alice Springs has a range of attractions within a short distance from town. Why not visit the Araluen Cultural Precinct, School of the Air, Old Telegraph Station, Desert Wildlife Park, Anzac Hill, the Western Macdonnell Ranges or soar above the desert in a hot air balloon.

Alice also has a range of quirky bars or cafes, so there are plenty of options for food and drink.

This afternoon you will be jumping on the Greyhound for a journey up the middle of the Northern Territory, to get to Darwin. The Greyhound will depart at approximately 05:30pm (subject to change), and arrive the following afternoon in Darwin at approximately 03:05pm

Arriving into Darwin in the afternoon, you will get your first taste of the tropics.

During certain months of the dry season, the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are on Sunday evenings. There are many stalls with a variety of food choices to purchase dinner here, and the sit on the beach as the sun sets, a wonderful way to spend your first night in the Top End!

A free day in Darwin to explore the city at your own pace. There are many activities to be had if you wish, including the main attractions of Crocosaurus Cove and the Cyclone Tracy exhibit at the Darwin museum.

Those in search of greater adventure can look to book optional activities (at own expense) that include Jet Skiing, Go Karts and a whole lot more.

Start your adventure by departing from Darwin and head out to the Mary River Wetlands region onboard Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruise, a great opportunity to spot a huge range of Top End birdlife, not to mention some apex predators… crocodiles!

We journey on to Kakadu National Park visiting the Bowali Visitor Centre which offers a beautiful introduction to the Park’s landscape and wildlife. After some relaxation at camp, we journey north to Cahills Crossing on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land.

We will visit one of the best-preserved collections of Aboriginal Rock Art in the world at Ubirr rock upon sunset. This incredibly significant site showcases many styles of Rock Art and allows us to climb up high for a sunset that will blow you away looking out over the Nadab Floodplain.

After a big day, we head back to our cozy private camp and prepare dinner together, enjoying an evening with our fellow travellers.

We rise and shine early and make our way south in Kakadu National Park.

Today we’ll spend the day soaking up the spectacular natural beauty of the area, hiking through lush monsoon rainforests, swimming in pristine plunge pools and waterfalls surrounded by steep escarpments and rocky cliffs.

We aim to visit one or more of the available waterfalls depending on group physical ability to complete the hike(s). This can include any of the following: Motor Car Falls, Moline Rockhole, Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), or Jim Jim Falls. There are many factors affecting accessibility although your guide will ensure you get the best experience possible.

Time permitting, we stop at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock), another indigenous rock art site where archaeologists have uncovered works dating back over 20,000 years old. We explore the evolving social, cultural and environmental changes to the area over time before making our way back to camp for a hearty dinner and a well-earned rest.

Getting around Adelaide

With free trams and buses within the city centre, getting around Adelaide is quick and easy.

Adelaide is an easy city to get around, with a great range of options for public transport, driving, cycling and walking. Here’s how to get around Adelaide with ease.

• Airport Transfers
• Accessibility

Adelaide has an extensive public transport system of buses, trains and trams. To use the network, it’s recommended that you purchase a MetroCard. You can purchase a regular metroCARD at Adelaide Airport or from participating retailers in the city. Use the Adelaide Metro’s My next service tool to find your nearest stop and real-time service information.

• You can also purchase a metroCARD Visitor Pass , which gives you three days of unlimited travel on the Adelaide Metro network for one fixed fee. These cards can be purchased from the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre at the Adelaide Railway Station .
• If you choose a regular metroCARD, you’ll need to load it with some money to cover your fares. You can do this participating retailers , at metroCARD retail agents or by using ticket machines at train stations. 
• You can use a contactless credit card, debit card or mobile device to tap and pay on trams and O-Bahn busway buses. Note that the tap and pay option does not provide the benefit of discounted transfers to other services.
• To start your ride, tap your card on the reader when you board your selected mode of transport and be sure to tap off when you disembark.

Tip: If you arrive on a cruise ship, you can purchase an inexpensive one-day Cruise ship metroCARD at the Outer Harbor railway station or the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre.

Adelaide is serviced by Adelaide Airport (ADL) near the city centre. There are several options for reaching the city from the airport. 

• Public buses are an easy way to get from Adelaide Airport to the city. J1 and J2 buses run from the airport to the city approximately every 30 minutes. You can use a metroCARD to pay for this airport service.
• You’ll find taxi ranks and rideshare pick-up areas at the front of each terminal – simply follow the signage. The journey from the airport to the city takes around 15 minutes.

In Australia, airlines, trains, buses and ferries have accessible options for people using mobility devices, as well as services for hearing and vision impaired travellers. Many hotels and attractions in South Australia , including surrounding areas such as Adelaide Hills , are also accessible.

• Adelaide Airport provides special assistance for people with disabilities and can help with baggage, getting around the airport, and getting on and off the plane. 
• The majority of buses, trams and trains have accessible options – check the Adelaide Metro website for information on using public transport before your trip.

Getting around Adelaide on public transport

Adelaide has a useful tram service that operates through the city centre and inner suburbs. It’s most convenient for travel within the city and reaching the popular coastal suburb of Glenelg. The service runs every 10-15 minutes from around 7am to midnight. 

• The tram is free to use in Adelaide city centre between Entertainment Centre Station and South Terrace Station.

Adelaide’s rail network is a great way to visit attractions outside of the city centre. From Adelaide Railway Station, you can catch the Outer Harbor line train to reach destinations such as historic Port Adelaide and the beachside suburb of Semaphore.

Adelaide has a free City Connector bus service operate in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions in the city centre.

• Use 98 City Connector buses to travel between Adelaide’s downtown hotels and attractions such as the South Australian Museum , Adelaide Botanic Garden , Adelaide Zoo and Adelaide Oval .

Getting around Adelaide by car

Driving in Adelaide is easy and safe, but you may find it’s easier to use a combination of taxis, rideshares and public transport to get around town. You can also book tours to many of the stunning destinations outside of Adelaide and leave the driving to someone else.

If you do opt to rent a car at the airport or in the city, you may want to check whether your hotel charges a daily parking fee. 

• The City of Adelaide operates nine UPark off-street car parks with approximately 6,000 car parking spaces.
• Download the free City of Adelaide Park Adelaide app to find parking spaces and make contactless payments on your smart device.

Adelaide is served by three major taxi companies: Independent taxis , Suburban taxis and 13cabs (Yellow Cabs) .

• You can hail a taxi on the street (a taxi is available if its rooftop light is on) or at taxi ranks in built-up areas.
• You can also book a taxi by phoning individual companies, downloading their apps or using the GoCatch app.

Most major ridesharing platforms operate in Adelaide, including Uber , Ola and DiDi , as well as local operator GoCatch.

Tip: Female travellers can also book a ride with Shebah , a rideshare service with all-women drivers catering to women. (Adult men can use the service if they need to transport a child who requires an approved child safety seat.)

Adelaide Metro will provide public transport to and from the city for ANZAC Day memorial services on Thursday 25 April 2024. This will include the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, Commemorative March and the Commemorative Service.

A free and fully accessible Adelaide Metro Digger Shuttle Bus will run clockwise from the National War Memorial on North Terrace to Victoria Square. This service will run every 15 minutes after the ANZAC Day March from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

Bus, train and tram services will operate to a Sunday and public holiday timetable. Additional bus, train and tram services will operate on the day.

Please ensure you plan your journey in advance.

ANZAC Day memorial services

Thursday 25 April 2024

Dawn Service:

The Dawn Service at the State War Memorial will commence at 6:00 am.

Commemorative March:

The Commemorative March will begin at 9:30 am from the State War Memorial.

The ANZAC Day March will travel along North Terrace, King William Road and Sir Edwin Smith Avenue to the Cross of Sacrifice.

Commemorative Service:

The Commemorative Service will commence after the conclusion of the march at 11:40 am at the Cross of Sacrifice, Pennington Gardens.

Free travel and additional services

Free travel is available on all Adelaide Metro bus, trains and trams on ANZAC Day for:

• Past and present military personnel who are wearing uniform.
• People wearing service medals.
• People carrying a Department of Veteran’s Affairs identification card.

Digger Shuttle Bus:

A free and fully accessible Adelaide Metro Digger Shuttle Bus will be running clockwise from the National War Memorial on North Terrace to Victoria Square. This service will run every 15 minutes after the ANZAC Day March from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

The Digger Shuttle Bus will start at the temporary stop by the National War Memorial on King William Road and then travel to the following stops:

• Stop A3 King William Rd
• Stop F1 North Tce
• Stop B2 Pulteney St
• Stop D2 Pulteney St
• Stop U1 Wakefield St
• Stop U2 Victoria Sq
• Stop X2 King William St
• Returning to the National War Memorial

Tram stop closures

Between 7:00 am to 1:00 pm:

• Trams from Glenelg to the City and return will terminate at Rundle Mall.
• Trams from the Entertainment Centre to the City and return will terminate at Adelaide Railway Station.
• There will be no Botanic or Festival Plaza services until after 1:00 pm.

Moscow Tourist Bus

The Moscow sightseeing bus has two routes with 46 stops around the main tourist areas of the Russian capital , throughout which you can enjoy recorded commentary in English about the places you are passing through and the city's history .

Some of the unmissable stops for the Moscow bus are: Kropotkinskaya metro station, the  Pushkin Fine Art Museum , the Red October factory and the Alexander Gardens. And of course, no trip to Moscow would be complete without getting off at Red Square to explore the heart of Moscow, admire the Kremlin , St Basil's Cathedral , and the Moscow River.

• The ticket with 2-day validity costs € 33 ( US$ 35.10) for adults and € 30 ( US$ 31.90) for children between 7 and 13 years old. The bus ticket for children under 7 years old costs € 16 ( US$ 17).

Operating times & frequency

• Red line : from 10 am to 6 pm, every 20 minutes. The whole route lasts an hour.
• Green line : from 10 am to 6 pm, every 40 minutes. The whole route lasts two hours.

Adelaide Metro train services disrupted as workers strike over pay dispute

Train services will be disrupted in Adelaide on Thursday as workers strike over a pay dispute with employer Keolis Downer.

Department of Transport spokesperson Matt Bowman said services will be affected from 9am until about 3pm.

He said all train lines will be impacted, with a "small number" of substitute buses to run every 30 to 60 minutes.

"We're doing everything we can to limit the impact to our train passengers, however the timing of this action means we're quite limited with the number of spare buses and drivers we have available," he said.

Mr Bowman said tram and bus services would not be impacted, and apologised for the disruption.

"Certainly we're encouraging all of our customers who might be impacted by this to plan ahead and consider any alternative arrangements that may be available to them," he said.

The action was sparked by a pay dispute with private contractor Keolis Downer, which has rejected workers' demands for a 20 per cent pay increase over four years.

Union organiser Hayden Boyle said the situation was "incredibly frustrating".

"We've been negotiating for six months now, really haven't made much progress," he said.

"I hope that [Keolis Downer] are listening loud and clear today and we've left them tomorrow and the weekend to think about what today means, and we're hoping that they come back to us with a reasonable offer."

Mr Downer said more stoppages were planned for next week if the company did not come to the table.

"We've got rolling stoppages for next week so Tuesday morning between 6am and 8am we'll have a complete work stoppage and Wednesday we'll also have an afternoon stoppage between 4pm and 6pm and the hope is the escalation will get us the result we're after."

Keolis Downer Adelaide apologised for any inconvenience and said it would continue negotiating "in good faith" with its staff through the union.

A company's spokesperson said it encourages the public to keep across Adelaide Metro's website for specific service details, as well as to seek alternative transport as required

"Keolis Downer Adelaide is currently in negotiation with employee representatives on a new Enterprise Agreement for our Adelaide Metro workforce," the spokesperson said.

"Keolis Downer respects the right of workers to take lawful industrial action in pursuit of their claims and remains committed to negotiating an agreed outcome."
