Biblical Christianity Day Tour-Ephesus, Kusadasi

8hr, Private Preset tour

OVERVIEW: The Biblical Christianity Day Tour in Ephesus, Kusadasi will offer you the opportunity to learn that Ephesus was one of the richest cities of the Hellenistic period, was home to one of the Seven Churches mentioned in the Bible and a strategic city for people that played a significant role in the spread of early Christianity. You'll be walking in the footsteps of Apostle Paul, St John, and Mother Mary, all of whom spoke, lived and worked in the Ephesus area. We then visit the St John Basilica, burial place of St John and then a lovely drive up the hill to the House of Mother Mary.

INCLUDED: licensed private guide, A/C vehicle and dependable driver

NOT INCLUDED: entrance fees, lunch, and tips (appreciated when deserved)

HIGHLIGHTS: From the Port of Kusadasi we go to the 8,000 yr old  religiously important historical city of Ephesus. Here we see: (Library of Celcius, Temple of Emperor Hadrian, the Agora where shop owners rioted against Apostle Paul and the Grand theatre where he preached to capacity crowds of 25,000, the Temple of Trajan and more). Also, we visit the Basilica of St John, identified as the apostle, prophet, miracle worker, evangelist, and author of the Fourth Gospel and Revelations. Lunch is at the shady outdoor organic Hali Village with an interesting tour of from cocoon to Turkish carpet art. The lovely hilltop drive to the House of Mother Mary is the finale. This sanctuary has been visited by two Popes, as the house has been recognized, by the Vatican, as the final resting place of the Virgin Mary.

FYI: As Apostle Paul mentioned in his letter to the Corinthians; Cor 16:9, he felt there was a door of opportunity in Ephesus due to the many opponents to Christianity.  It is written in the Gospel of John (19:26-27) , “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son". Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother," and  from that hour the disciple took her into his home."   This is how Mother Mary was brought to Ephesus by John.

We laughed and talked, took a few unscheduled detours at my request. Villanueva knowledge and easy going pace made this a perfect tour. If he had allot to share he would purposely look for a shady place out of the sun to explain the information. Thoroughly enjoyed our time and the Turkish lunch was superb. Highly Recommend!! • tracied258 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Wonderful tour, would definitely recommend! But the rug tour.... We purchased a private tour with Ephesus Shuttle which was a wonderful experience! Our English-speaking tour guide was VERY knowledgeable, courteous, and gave us a wonderful peak at the Kusadasi / Ancient Ephesus region. We saw the house of Mary, (mother of Jesus), Ancient Ephesus, and had a fabulous meal outdoors at a small farm /restaurant. One complaint though, the carpet tours which appear to be standard in most Turkish tours are pretty high pressure sales. To learn about the process of handmade rugs is fascinating, and the rugs are indeed magnificent, but we found them to be extremely expensive (as in THOUSANDS of dollars). It is hard to decline without feeling we have insulted their workmanship. That is my only complaint. The tour though was amazing and well worth the expense of going the private route! I would indeed recommend! Read more Written May 27, 2024

  • Nhivrah 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Highly recommended to family and friends. This is one of my most memorable holiday especially it’s my first time to visit Türkiye. We booked for a private tour to visit the House of Virgin Mary and Ephesus just the two of us with my friend and we were picked up in our Izmir hotel by this very welcoming and knowledgeable tour guide Selenay in a very comfortable car. She gave us full of information on our way and on site. Lunch is included in our tour and we enjoyed our Traditional Turkish food. She gave us free time to explore on our own and takes pictures. We were given a choice to pass the Leather Factory outlet and we decided to drop by and we never regret it. My only regret is, I should have bought more after we arrived at the hotel. They have a good quality Turkish Leather in an affordable price. Our driver drop us off in Konak as we decided to continue our shopping and exploring Izmir. Our driver is very good in his driving and very kind to open the lights inside the car while we are enjoying posing and taking photos. I highly recommend this tour and the Company provider to my family and friends. Read more Written May 10, 2024

Private Biblical Ephesus

Private Biblical Ephesus Tour from Kusadasi (Tomb of St. Luke, Great Theater)

  • Retrace the footsteps of St. Paul and the Virgin Mary in Ephesus, exploring Biblical history with a professionally trained guide.
  • Experience the Great Theater where Paul preached, and marvel at the remains of The Church of Mary.
  • Visit the hauntingly beautiful and sacred Basilica of St. John, and see the sole remaining pillar of The Temple of Artemis.
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, adding a taste of local culture to your unique historical journey.
  • Haggle for treasures in Kusadasi's shopping area, or opt out to be returned directly to the pier according to your preference.

?

On the Kusadasi pier, you will meet your professionally qualified guide and begin your private shore tour to Ephesus. Ephesus is the only ancient city that finds reference in both the New Testament and the Book of Revelation, that St. Paul visited.

Just before we journey to ancient Ephesus, you will ascend a gorgeous seaside route. Upon arriving at Ephesus, proceed through the Magnesia Gate as instructed by your guide to enter the historic site. Explore many landmarks such as the Great Theatre, which was rebuilt in the Roman era after being created in the Greek era and is still renowned for its exceptional acoustics, the Odeon, the Library of Celsius, the Thermal Baths of Scholastica.

The Tomb of St. Luke is located close to the north gate. It's believed to be the base of an old temple that was subsequently transformed into a church. There is a theory this was the tomb of St. Luke because of a bull's head carved in the doorjamb, which was an old sign for the saint. He may not have physically visited Ephesus, but his influence undoubtedly did. You will go to the former harbor area before departing the city. You can view the ruins of the old Christian cathedral known as The Church of Mary, which was devoted to the Virgin Mary.

Following your exploration of all the intriguing Biblical monuments, your private shore trip to Ephesus includes lunch at a local restaurant where you may savor a variety of local specialties. The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, stood from 550 B.C. to 401 A.D., and all that is left of it is a single pillar that you will pass after lunch.

After lunch, you will pass the one lone pillar that is all that remains of The Temple of Artemis (550 B. C. - 401 A. D.), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The final stop is at the Basilica of St. John. It is generally agreed that he died in the area of Ephesus of natural causes around 100 A.D. and was buried on Ayasuluk hill under a simple marker. In the 4th century, a modest Christian church was built over the grave. In the 6th century, Emperor Justinian had an impressive domed basilica built to replace the earlier church. The church, known as the Church of St. John the Theologian, was one of the most sacred sites in the Middle Ages, and thousands made the pilgrimage here. With the decline in the importance of Ephesus and the destruction from Arab raids in the 11th century, the basilica fell into ruins and was even converted into a mosque around 1330 A. D. After further destruction, the building became a source of building materials until restoration began in the last century. If the cathedral could be rebuilt, it would be the seventh-largest in the world.

The Basilica of St. John serves as the last destination. He was buried atop Ayasuluk hill beneath a plain monument, and it is generally agreed that he passed away in the Ephesus region about 100 A.D. from natural causes. Over the tomb, a small Christian church was constructed in the fourth century. Emperor Justinian ordered the construction of an imposing basilica with a dome in the sixth century to replace the previous church. Thousands of people came to this church, also known as the Church of St. John the Theologian, since it was one of the most revered locations throughout the Middle Ages.

You will pass what appears to be the hillside prison where Paul may have been imprisoned during the theater riots as you make the journey back to town. When the group returns to the town of Kusadasi, if time permits, they can choose to conclude their trip in the shopping district, where they can either attend a shopping and explanation about Turkish carpets, or they can browse the stores that sell jewelry, carpets, leather products, and copper items, or both. Turkish retailers anticipate haggling, and you can frequently negotiate a 10%-15% price reduction. If guests decide not to partake in the optional carpet shopping, they will be returned straight to the dock upon informing their guide.

See the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the steam baths of Scholastika, temple of Hadrian, the library of Celsus and the grand theatre . After lunch, you will conclude the tour with a visit to Saint John's Basilica where, from the Chief of Excavations, you will be given a short talk on the excavations and their importance to the history of Christianity. Christian Tours In Turkey 2023

Turkey is one of the most fascinating countries around the world. Its History is filled with Hittites, Persians, Greeks, Romans and Ottomans. Turkey is spread over two continents: Asia and Europe. The larger part of Turkey which is in Asia, called Anatolia or Asia Minor. During Roman Imperial time, Christianity came to Asia Minor. The Apostle Paul travelled extensively to Asia Minor. John the Evangelist or the Theologian addressed messages to the Seven Churches of Asia (minor). After Romans, Constantine chose Byzantium as the new capital of the empire. The new city was named Constantinopole or Istanbul. One of the most spectacular works of Byzantine architecture is the church of St. Sophia or Divine Wisdom.

Turkey is a must visit. Combines Old and New Testament in a unique way. From Tiger and Euphrates rivers to Mountain Ararat related to Noah’s Ark and to Abraham and his family lived for a while in Haran. Turkey also is mentioned in many ways to the New Testament. From Cilicia (Tarsus, Cilicia the birthplace of Paul) to Cappadocia with the curved homes of the early Christians to Paul’s letters to the Churches of Asia Minor and also to John the Evangelist who is addressing the Seven Churches of the Book of revelation all in Asia Minor. All these places are offering a unique, lifetime and inspirational experience.

Ephesus Ruins in Turkey

Study the Fascinating Biblical History of Ephesus in Person!

During our Bible study tours of the Seven Churches of Revelation, Ephesus is the most visual application for us to study and the church at Ephesus is addressed clearly in the Bible.  It is where John, one of the original Apostles, died and also where Jesus’ mother, Mary died.  Significantly, it is also the place where John wrote down the last book of the Bible, the Revelation of Christ, in or around the year 95AD.  The island of Patmos is only a few hours by boat from the closest current port.  John received the vision of the Revelation of Christ while on Patmos.  Secondly, not only did John write about the Church at Ephesus, but Paul did as well.  Paul wrote his famous epistle to the Ephesians in around 60AD.  The apostle Timothy was also in Ephesus, known by way of 1 and 2 Timothy.  During our tours of Ephesus, we will be able to have a greater understanding of the Biblical history of Ephesus and see why Ephesus was also geographically important.

In Revelation 2, the church of Ephesus was commended for the things it had done correctly.  Jesus tells them in the Revelation that He has something against them.  He said that they have left their first love and they should repent. In verses 4 and 5 of Revelation 2, He states that unless they repent and return to their first love, Christ, then He will remove their candlestick from its place. The implication seems to be that if they do not return wholeheartedly to their initial fervor as Christians, then they as a body of believers will cease to exist. It worth noting that the Church at Ephesus has indeed, ceased.

For those with extra energy at Ephesus, there is a 1.5 hour hike that can be taken to the cave above the archeological ruins of the city. This cave is traditionally known as the site where the Apostle Paul lived while at Ephesus.  From that vantage point, you will also be able to see the lines of the former harbor of Ephesus.

Partake in the Bible study journey of a lifetime and explore the most authentic Biblical locations throughout the Mediterranean!

The Secret Behind Taylor Swift’s Superstar Shoes? Red Bottoms—and Loads of Crystals

By Christian Allaire

Image may contain Handrail Chair Furniture Adult Person Electrical Device Microphone Performer and Solo Performance

Earlier this month, Taylor Swift kicked off the European leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour, beginning her marathon of live performances with four nights in Paris. Since then, the global superstar has moved on to Stockholm. In both cities, Swift has brought her catalog of hits to the stage—not to mention her signature glitzy costumes, designed by labels such as Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, and Versace . Punctuating these looks, however? An impressive range of custom Christian Louboutin shoes, famously known for their signature red soles. (The superstar also rocked Louboutin footwear during her North American leg.)

During Swift’s recent Paris shows, the singer sported seven different pairs of Louboutin shoes—including two new custom styles, a white lace-up boot and silver heeled sandals, worn for her new era, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Swift also debuted a new pair in Sweden—performing her “1989” era in mismatched crystal-covered ankle boots (one in yellow, another in blue). Throughout the entire course of Swift’s Eras tour, Louboutin tells Vogue he has created over 250 pairs for the superstar—including 60 new pairs for her European leg alone. “When working for performers, it’s better to start with a very large number of styles that will end up in a selection of designs which seem the best for the stage,” says Louboutin. “She also likes to entertain her audience and surprise them, date after date. So, there might be more to come…”

Turns out, the designer and Swift have fashion history together. The iconic shoe designer first outfitted Swift for her Reputation tour back in 2018, and has since continued to provide shoes for her various red carpet appearances or performances ever since. He was excited about the idea of working with her again on the Eras Tour—a tour that has become one of the highest-selling in history. “I admire how much emotion Taylor puts into her performance and her work,” Louboutin says. “She is a powerhouse and her ability to do this night after night, city after city, is exceptional.”

Swift’s glitzy, stage-ready heels for the tour were first brought to life from many conversations between Louboutin, Swift, and her stylist Joseph Cassell. “Joseph and Taylor were very instrumental in communicating all the different acts, and having shoes that reflect the genre she wore then with an updated modern twist,” says Louboutin. The trio aimed to find styles that fit the aesthetic of each “era” Swift performs on-stage. “For the ‘Fearless’ era, she only wore flat boots; Our Cate boot has a beautiful angle detail at the knee that makes it sexy and feminine,” says Louboutin. “For ‘The Tortured Poet Departments’ era, we created a custom last based on archival styles that represent the Victorian theme.”

Taking Swift’s custom clothing designs into account, of course, was also important when designing the shoes; Louboutin treated the footwear as more of a finishing touch. “It was inspiring to see the ready-to-wear looks,” says Louboutin. “Joseph shared with us the sketches, and from there we thought about what shined on stage and complemented her choreography.” Louboutin also had to make sure that what he created was made for movement—and dancing, given just how choreography-heavy her show is. “Performing requires a lot of skill and concentration, so whatever costume or shoes you're wearing must not become a distraction,” says Louboutin. “They need to disappear from your thoughts, allowing your voice to be the only instrument that matters, ensuring you give your best performance and convey emotion to the audience staring at you.”

Luckily, having interned at the Parisian cabaret Les Folies Bergère as a teenager (it’s how Louboutin got his start), the designer says he’s learned a few tricks about creating glamorous shoes that are performance-ready. “Since then, I’ve learned a few magic tricks to make sure the silhouette still looks great with shoes being 100% easy to perform in,” he says. His main secret to success for shoes that are superstar-worthy? Loads of crystals and shimmer. “That’s also something I learned at Les Folies Bergère: Lights on stage are very strong, and tend to flatten any surface,” he says. Crystals, then, ensure one’s shoes can pop. “For the opening act, you can see all of [Swift’s] Elenora boots from every seat in the house,” says Louboutin. “The way strass [crystals] catch the light is super impactful on stage. After all, this is the biggest tour in the world—the girl needs to shine!”

Taylor Swift's worn hundreds of custom Louboutins on the Eras Tour — luxury cobblers say she's got Gen Z hooked on red bottoms

  • Taylor Swift's 'Eras' tour features custom Christian Louboutin shoes adorned with strass crystals.
  • Luxury cobblers say the shoes are well-built and are a status symbol.
  • The cobblers also say Louboutin shoes are getting more popular — and Swift may have played a part in that.

Insider Today

For the past year, pop megastar Taylor Swift has been prancing around her glitzy "Eras" tour stage in pairs of red bottoms adorned with crystals.

Designer Christian Louboutin recently told Vogue that he designed 250 pairs of custom shoes for the pop star and her dancers — including 60 new ones for the recent European leg of her tour.

Styles in Swift's collection include the knee-high Eleonora Botta and the Cate Boot, per Louboutin's website . Many of the styles are dripping in hand-applied strass crystals.

"The way strass crystals catch the light is super impactful onstage. After all, this is the biggest tour in the world — the girl needs to shine!" Louboutin told Vogue.

Louboutin also told Vogue that he tried to design Swift's shoes to be comfortable and performance-ready.

Pasquale Fabrizio, designer and owner of Pasquale Shoe Repair in Los Angeles, told Business Insider that the heeled versions of the showpiece shoes aren't necessarily built for dancing, but the iconic red bottoms carry a sought-after reputation. Many performers wear the shoes onstage, he said.

"The pinnacle of footwear is Louboutin," Fabrizio told BI.

Dean Rago of the Rago Brothers, a Louboutin repair shop in Morristown, New Jersey, told BI he could not imagine himself wearing those heels at Swift's height (the songstress is nearly 6 feet tall). Still, he said some customers find the shoe more comfortable than those from other designers.

"Some people will say that if they're gonna go that high, they want a Louboutin because they can bear it," Rago said.

Fabrizio, whose shop has done repair work for celebrities like Oprah and Meryl Streep , said there are ways to help reinforce the shoes — but emphasized that the shoes were never built for "parachute jumping."

For example, he said a metal brace can be added inside the heels of shoes to help prevent splitting or opening up. This can happen, as evidenced by Swift herself, when one of her heels broke in Brazil .

Rago said customers also protect the shoe's bottom with a thin piece of red rubber that his shop installs to prevent scuffing.

Vogue reported that Swift began working with Louboutin in 2018 when the designer first lent his designs to her "Reputation" tour.

Years later, she's still showing loyalty to the brand.

Rago said the shoe is long-lasting and repairs easily — a worthy investment for Swifties inspired to follow in Swift's footsteps and purchase a pair of their own.

Both Fabrizio and Rago say they've seen more and more people coming into their shops over the past few years to have their Louboutin shoes repaired — and Swift may play a role in this trend.

Fabrizio, who said Swift once entered his shop nearly a decade ago, found her loyalty to the brand admirable.

"She's a big influencer in the brand and product," Fabrizio said. "Just endorsing it and wearing it allows the younger generation of girls to go after that look. She exemplifies fashion."

Representatives for Louboutin and Swift did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
