This was a perfect mother-daughter trip at the right time of year to avoid crowds. All of our drivers and tour guides were awesome! The accommodations were likewise wonderful. Communication with our tour company was great and any last-minute changes were taken care of, so we had no worries. We had nearly daily contact from the company, whose staff checked in with us before and during our trip. Our itinerary had a good balance of planned activities and free time, with lots of good suggestions from our tour guides. The company worked cooperatively with us in planning and replanning our itinerary over the course of nearly nine months! So flexible! Zicasso’s tour operator did an excellent job planning our trip! We planned a vacation to Italy and Switzerland and wanted to see as much as we could with our limited time off. Our tour company worked in nearly all of our requests, planning an itinerary involving five cities in 10 days. Each of the hotels was great and all activities and train transfers went smoothly. This is the fourth trip we've booked with a Zicasso travel agent and it was another success. We worked with our travel team and could not be happier with the experience. We had originally planned a Croatia-only trip, but expanded it to include Slovenia and day trips to Bosnia Herzegovina (BH) and Montenegro. These were areas we had no experience with and relied on our travel team's recommendations. There are several aspects to a successful trip: locations, hotels, activities, and organization, and all were well planned. First, we are so glad we added the three countries, especially Slovenia, which was spectacular. Every hotel was great and in line with what we like. In addition, the room choices were good, with upgrades to suites and rooms with views and great balconies. Ours was a two-week trip with activities scheduled for almost every day, including guides and five wine tastings. Every guide was fantastic and the wine visits amazing. We were especially surprised and delighted by the high-end and modern winery in Mostar, BH. The area’s wines are very good. Every aspect of the trip was organized. Our agent sent me 37 different vouchers for each of our hotels, drivers, guides, and activities. I can't recommend her enough.

Zicasso’s travel company helped us plan and make land arrangements for our trip to Berlin, Prague, Chesky Krumlov, the Wachau Valley, Vienna, and Budapest. We had different needs for the areas we visited based on friends and family we planned to see, tour guide requests, accommodations we needed our travel agent to book, one place we wanted to book ourselves, and car and train transportation between destinations. The arrangements were not straightforward, but our travel agent was flexible. He came through and everything went beautifully as we navigated our itinerary. We had a fabulous time in Central Europe and are very appreciative of our travel team's efforts. Most important to us was the quality of our tour guides, their knowledge of history and culture, storytelling abilities, and enjoyable personalities. Our agent delivered beautifully on our requests for outstanding tour guides, especially in Prague, the Wachau Valley, and Budapest. In Prague and Budapest, we had seven-hour walking tours that were truly wonderful and memorable. Another of our agent’s strengths was recommending charming and comfortable boutique hotels. Highlight hotels he recommended were in Kreuzberg, Berlin, near our friend's home; the one in Prague with the adjacent, gorgeous, UNESCO World Heritage garden; and the one in Vienna. Finally, our travel team remained available to us by text message throughout our trip, answering any questions that came up and being a fun travel partner throughout our travels.

The Tour Guides did not wait for everyone to go down - they proceeded right away. With about 48 people - it takes time to go down - I suggested that the first half of the group take the first exit and the second half of the group take the second exit - the guide mentioned it but did not monitor it - it would have been nice if everyone listened so that exiting the bus would be quicker.

The boat itself was awesome and the staff was terrific, although one person on the cruise director's team snapped at a guest in Prague (he was frustrated with the tour guide and took it out on the guest). Our tour was July 11 to 19, 2023, Prague to Vienna. I was incredibly disappointed with the two major components of our self guided tour, our accommodations, and my bike. I realized that my bike was in poor condition on the first day after our driver unloaded it and drove off--no bike fitting as stated, the rear reflector was a piece of red tape, and I was given a thin yellow strap to use. The helmet was well used and the back light didn't work. I could only navigate with 3 gears, my chain keep coming off, and the brakes were loud and I felt unsafe. Roadside assistance was slow and when I did hear back from our Ave contact hours later, hopeful he would be of assistance, he was still trying to find a bike mechanic for the following day, ugh, the following day! It was 32 degrees and we needed to be on the road early. I ended up tracking down a bike mechanic on my own, paid him in cash, and still had to chance gears and brake slowly and carefully. Our rooms were purported to be three star, however, they were substandard and one inn had us in the attic with no windows that could be opened and it was a heatwave. Our return transfer driver was organizing other work and was texting and driving for the 50 minute freeway trip, unsafe and unprofessional. Marianne

I have done self-guided cycling trips in 6 different countries and have never had any issues. However, UTracks was terrible. They subcontract to AVE Travel. 1. Bike not properly tuned up upon delivery and AVE Travel was not responsive in helping us find a bike repair shop along the way. 2. Accomodation was substandard or poorly located. For example, In Cesky Krumlov, we stayed in a small run down building located on a street with boarded up buildings. The tiny rooms were located in the attic with a small window that did not open in 30 degree C temperature. Another town, we were put up outside of the city centre in a truck stop. 3. They changed our itinerary with no explanation. The trip we booked and paid for clearly included an overnight stop at Vranov. However, we were shunted off to a much smaller village of Bitov 4 kms away where there is nothing of interest. The hotel was particularly grim. Hotel Bitov is run down and filthy. The toilet seat in my room was cracked and stained, the rugs were infested with dead bugs and curling at the edges. The drapes were coated with heavy dust that spread into the room when closed. Why was our itinerary changed? To add insult to injury, when we emailed UTracks with our concerns, we heard NOTHING back. All they are interested in is booking the trips with no concern for the comfort and safety of their riders.

If you are already daydreaming of empty beaches or clean mountain air, now is the time to book your holiday. Travel agencies are the most time-efficient way of booking a trip, so we have looked into what Prague has to offer.

There are 134 agents registered in Prague, and most have some help for English speakers. It is wise to bear in mind that agencies provide a service which their clients pay for, and it is rarely cheaper to book a package through an agent than to buy flights and accommodation separately, either through an agent or direct from airlines and hotels. If you do decide to book separately through an agent, remember that in most cases agencies only provide insurance, helplines and support abroad for clients who have booked packages, not those who have booked separately, so remember to get your own insurance (pojištění) – available through most agencies. Agency websites often provide cheaper options than are promoted in brochures, so be sure to check online before booking in-house. Last minute offers can be good, but sometimes there are hidden costs and the price advertised on the main page is usually for one cheap week among twenty offered. Even if you speak no Czech, do not discount using Czech language travel websites. They tend to be well laid out and with the help of an online translation service not difficult to use. Although some agents are helpful, poor customer service is the norm. Allow plenty of time for visiting agencies, queues are long and customers are regularly expected to wait while agents answer phones or catch up on paperwork.

Coral Travel is an agency that specializes in booking packages from Czechia to several holiday destinations and that is part of Coral Travel Group, which has organized tours for more than 28 million clients worldwide. Their website is in Czech, and their offers include both last-minute and first-minute deals, which allows travelers to have their pick of special offers, like "Kids Go Free" or "2+2" packages.

Sightseeing tours, cruises and resort holidays are offered, and apart from Mediterranean summer breaks most vacations are outside of Europe. The USA and China are Eso´s most popular destinations. There are three offices in Prague. The main office is oddly positioned inside a bureu de change on Václavské, and manned by one helpful but harried agent. Allow some waiting-time and expect your conversation to be interrupted whenever the phone rings.

Exim Tours The focus is on sun-chasing, and resorts are located in UAE, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Tunisia and Egypt. Most hotels are 3-5 star and in large resorts. There are discounts for early-bookers, a loyalty scheme that awards 5% off a second visit, discounts (starting at 3%) for groups of more than eight, and up to two children can go free to many resorts. On last-minute deals children travel for 4,990 CZK. The website is in Czech only.

Fischer One of the bigger agencies, with 12 offices to choose from in Prague ( www.fischer.cz ). Fischer specializes in high-end resort holidays to coastal areas. Supervised children´s clubs (‘Funtazie´ Clubs) in the resorts offer Czech language childcare for under-16s. Although brochures and the website are only in Czech and Slovak, the central offices have English-speaking staff. You can also use the website to book flights and accommodation; the website links up to more than 20,000 hotels worldwide and there are cheaper options online than in the brochures. Some reasonable last-minute deals can also be found. Because of a clever marketing gimmick whereby children booked into the Funtazie club this August are given a playstation as a ‘gift´, family summer holidays are almost sold out, so book fast.

GTS covers cheaper options and is popular with students. There is also an easy-to-use English language website ( http://en.gtstravel.cz/ ) which allows price-comparison on flights. The central office on Ve Smečkách has the world-weary pokiness of a school staffroom and at 800 CZK the commission charged on flights booked in-house is double what you pay on the website, so consider booking from home.

Jayway Travel Founded by an American expat living in Prague, the company provides tailor-made package holidays to Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, and Montenegro, as well as to the Czech Republic. Representatives are available for advice and help either in person or by phone – clients are lent a local mobile for their stay. When it comes to prices the company is slightly cagey, no guide rates are available online and when we asked for information none was forthcoming – though it is possible that the company´s client-based approach could make estimating costs difficult. To get a quote on your holiday, you can fill in an online request form. The website is in English and the agents are English speakers.

Stay In Castle The name says it all; live like a lord for the weekend. Stay In Castle ( www.stay-in-castle.com ) provides a choice of more than 60 palaces, fortresses and chateaux. Most are privately owned hotels, some city-based but most located in the country. Outdoor activities from cycling to golf to riding are offered. Prices range between 1700 CZK and 13,508 CZK per night. The agency will also take bookings for weddings, work conferences or seminars. Dana Michková, who runs the business, is prompt and helpful, and even responds to emails, which makes her a rarity among Prague agents. She is also a trained massage therapist, so if the stress of booking your holiday proves too much help is near at hand.

The new director of the CzechTourism agency will be František Reismüller

The Czech Tourism Office – CzechTourism is changing its management. From November 1, 2023, the current director of marketing and foreign offices, František Reismüller, will be the new director based on a selection process. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš.

The open selection process, in which eleven people applied, was announced by the Ministry of Regional Development (MMR) because the current director of the CzechTourism agency, Jan Herget, decided to leave.

In the 2nd round of the selection of the new management, the MMR Commission decided between two candidates. A key role was played by the vision of where CzechTourism and the promotion of the Czech Republic as a tourism destination in domestic and foreign markets should go so that it is economically beneficial for the whole country.

“I believe that the new director of the CzechTourism agency, František Reismüller, who knows the Czech Tourism Office very well, will move the entire tourism sector forward. It is clear from the latest data on the number of visitors to hotels in the Czech Republic that, although we have already reached pre-covid numbers, the ratio of Czech versus foreign guests visiting us has changed. According to the committee that selected him, the new director has great potential to change that, as he previously worked as the director of marketing and foreign representations of CzechTourism. Among other things, he and his team are behind the Unexpected Traditions campaign, valued by experts, which is currently running in 13 countries around the world with the aim of attracting as many foreign tourists as possible to the Czech Republic,” says Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš and adds: “František Reismüller not only during the preparation of the campaign, he showed the importance of cooperation across destination management in the Czech Republic, because each region has its own theme in the visuals. And his management of foreign representations clearly shows an understanding of the specifics of individual countries and the necessary contextual insight. He realizes that we cannot do without digitization in the tourism industry in the future. This also led to the fact that from November 1 this year he will manage the entire CzechTourism. I wish him the best of luck.”

M.Sc. František Reismüller, Ph.D. he studied sinology at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University. Right after school, he started working in tourism, first as a business development manager in the private sector. In 2013, he founded the foreign representative office of CzechTourism in Shanghai and was its director for four years. Subsequently, he spent three years working for the European Travel Commission (ETC), among other things, he was its marketing and project manager in Brussels. He then returned to the CzechTourism agency in the position of Director of Marketing and Foreign Representations, where he is to this day. František Reismüller is married and has one child. He speaks English, Chinese and German. In his free time, he dedicates himself to translations of beautiful literature from Chinese to Czech and to research in the field of Chinese culture and society.

“I feel very strongly that the tourism industry has changed after the covid-19 pandemic, just like the whole world. When presenting the Czech Republic at home and abroad, these changes need to be respected and accommodated, while at the same time it is necessary to build on what is already working, i.e. the Strategy of the CzechTourism agency and the Czech Republic 2021-2025 destination. My main priorities at the head of the Czech Tourism Office will therefore be the optimization of all agency activities and digitization in the sense of transparency and an emphasis on measurable and accurate data-based marketing. In practice, this means, among other things, the further development of the Kudy z nudy and Visit Czechia portals, which are highly appreciated by people,” says the future director of the Czech Tourism Office – CzechTourism František Reismüller, adding: “It is also necessary to address multi-source financing with the aim of saving the costs of the state budget and the overlap of activities agencies to synergistically build the Czech brand across industries and in cooperation with other state institutions. Last but not least, I want to emphasize a comprehensive, infrastructurally grasped product portfolio that reflects the needs of source markets and the offer of Czech tourist destinations. I am very much looking forward to my new job, I thank the MMR for the promised support, my predecessor and the entire excellent CzechTourism team, without whom it would not have been possible.”

František Reismüller wants to meet and exchange the agenda with outgoing director Jan Herget in his “old” workplace in his new position next week. He also plans to meet soon with all the employees of the CzechTourism agency, as well as with representatives of associations and unions active in the tourism industry, as well as with the CEOs of the CzechInvest and CzechTrade agencies, with whom CzechTourism shares the Czech House building in Štěpánská Street in Prague. All this is to maximally develop tourism for the benefit of the whole of the Czech Republic.

CTM 2021 Cancelled

We regret to inform you that after careful consideration of all plus and minus, we have agreed with  the Association of the Travel Agencies of the Czech Republic, which is  a partner of the fair, not to hold the CZECH TRAVEL MARKET 2021 trade fair (see joint letter in the appendix).

Believe us, we are sincerely sorry and we were looking forward to a personal meeting just like you.

We firmly believe that the situation will start to improve in the foreseeable future and we will be able to meet at the 30th anniversary of the HOLIDAY WORLD & REGION WORLD, which is scheduled for 18 – 20 March,  2022.

The CZECH TRAVEL MARKET trade fair will not take place from 23 to 24 November 2021

With regard to the current situation, we announce that the CZECH TRAVEL MARKET trade fair, originally planned for 23 - 24 November 2021, is not taking place . "Due to the unfavorable development of the coronavirus epidemy in the Czech Republic, the CZECH TRAVEL MARKET trade fair is being moved to the period 30 November - 1 December 2021.

Interconnection of the specialised conference “Tourism Forum” with the CTM 2020 Trade Fair

Tourism belongs among those economy sectors that are affected in the hardest way by the measures adopted against coronavirus spreading. A basic precondition for success is close cooperation.

CzechTourism  and the  Association of Travel Agencies of the Czech Republic , in cooperation with the ABF company, have decided to interconnect the  specialised conference “Tourism Forum” and the  International B2B Trade Fair for Tourism Professionals  “CZECH TRAVEL MARKET” , in order to intensify interconnection of the entrepreneurial and public sectors.

The common event will take place on 24 and 25 November 2020 at the PVA EXPO PRAGUE Exhibition Centre in Letňany .

The second edition of Czech Travel Market was a success!

The fair was held on 25-26 october 2017 in PVA Expo Prague. 

The interest and attractiveness of this field was confirmed by the final number of 177 exhibiting companies.  You could find representatives from 14 countries worldwide (Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Malaysia, Germany, Austria, San Marino, Slovakia, Spain, UK). The fair held national workshops - Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia with a total of 83 representing  entities. The number of visitors was 1092.
