Bookmarks are an easy way to access websites you like or often visit. When you save a website as a bookmark, you can access it from the bookmarks section on your web browser without needing to enter its URL every time. If you’re looking to save websites as bookmarks on an iPhone, the following post should help you add bookmarks and access them inside the Safari app on your device.

How to add bookmarks on Safari

There are two ways you can add bookmarks inside Safari.

Method 1: Add a single webpage as bookmark

  • To bookmark a page, open the Safari app on your iPhone.
  • Inside Safari, open a webpage you want to add as a bookmark. When the webpage loads up, tap on the Share icon at the bottom.
  • In the iOS Share Sheet, select Add Bookmark .
  • In the Add Bookmark screen, you can enter the name of the bookmark inside the first text box.
  • On the same screen under “Location”, you can see that the default location for the bookmark is set to “Bookmarks”. If you wish to change this location, tap on Bookmarks and select your preferred folder from the expanded menu, or tap on New Folder to create a new bookmarks folder.
  • Once you’ve selected your desired location to save the bookmark, tap on Save at the top right corner.

To access your favorite websites faster, bookmark them in your iPhone's Safari browser. You can then edit your bookmark list and add or remove sites from it. We'll show you how to do just that.

If you use a Mac with the same iCloud account as your iPhone, you can sync your Mac's bookmarks with your iPhone . We'll explain how to perform this integration as well in this guide.

To save a site to bookmarks, first, launch Safari on your iPhone and open your favorite site or web page.

When the site loads, in Safari's bottom bar, tap and hold on the book icon.

In the menu that opens, choose "Add Bookmark."

On the "Add Bookmark" page, optionally, change the bookmark's title. From the "Location" section, choose where to save this bookmark.

Then, in the top-right corner, tap "Done."

You're done. Safari has saved your current site as a bookmark.

To access your bookmarked sites, first, launch Safari on your iPhone.

In Safari's bottom bar, tap the book icon.

On the screen that follows, in the tab list at the top, select the first icon (which looks like an open book).

You'll now see a list of all your bookmarked sites. Tap a site here to load it in your browser.

To remove a site from your bookmark list, swipe left on that site and choose "Delete."

You don't get a prompt while deleting bookmarks, so make sure you're okay with losing a bookmarked site when you tap "Delete."

And that's how you view as well as edit your bookmarked sites in Safari on iPhone.

To make launching sites even faster, add your site's shortcut to your iPhone's home screen . This way, you can open your favorite site without even launching Safari.

To do that, first, access Safari and open your site. Then, in Safari's bottom bar, tap the share icon.

From the share menu, select "Add to Home Screen."

If you don't see the "Add to Home Screen" option, swipe left on the options row above the "Cancel" button.

On the "Add to Home Screen" page, verify the bookmark details, then tap "Add."

Access your iPhone's home screen and you'll see your site pinned there. Tap this shortcut to launch your site in your browser.

And that's it.

If you're logged in to your Mac with the same iCloud account as your iPhone, you can sync your bookmarks between your devices.

To do that, on your Mac, head to Apple logo menu > System Preferences > iCloud and enable "Safari."

Now, on your iPhone, navigate to Settings > [Your iCloud Name] > iCloud and turn on "Safari."

Bookmarks from both your devices will sync, and you'll find your Mac's bookmarks on your iPhone.

And that's how you make launching specific sites easier and more convenient on your Apple iPhone. Enjoy!

How to add bookmarks and favorites on an iPhone's Safari browser for quick access to your preferred webpages

  • You can easily bookmark or favorite a webpage on an iPhone if you want to regularly return to a particular page.
  • Just tap the "Share" button at the bottom of a page and then tap "Add Bookmark" to create a bookmark in your iPhone's Safari browser.
  • If you save a bookmark to the Favorites folder or choose the "Add to Favorites" option, it'll appear in the Favorites list when you open a new tab in Safari.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories .

Like any web browser, you can bookmark web pages you want to return to using Safari on your iPhone .

Once bookmarked, you can find these saved pages by tapping the Bookmark button at the bottom of the Safari screen.

Check out the products mentioned in this article:

Iphone xs (from $999 at apple), how to save a bookmark on your iphone's safari browser.

1. Start the Safari app and open a web page that you want to bookmark.

2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).

3. Tap "Add Bookmark."

4. On the Add Bookmark page, you can edit the name of the bookmark and even tweak the URL if necessary — just tap either of those fields and type as needed.

5. If you want to store the bookmark in the default Favorites folder, tap "Save." If you want to choose a different folder, tap "Favorites" and then choose a folder (or create a new one) and then tap "Save."

If you save your bookmark to the default folder, it will appear in the list of favorites when you open a blank new tab in Safari, giving you fast access to commonly used web sites.

The difference between favorites and bookmarks in Safari

You might notice that when you tap the Share button, there are options to add both a bookmark and a favorite. Since the Favorites folder happens to be the default location to save bookmarks, this can be somewhat confusing.

In reality, favorites are just a special kind of bookmark. If you save a bookmark to the Favorites folder (either using the Add Bookmark button or the "Add to Favorites" button in the Share menu), it's effectively the exact same thing as a favorite.  If you store a bookmark in a different folder, you'll need to navigate past the default Favorites folder to find them.

Bottom line: Using the "Add to Favorites" button does the same thing as using the default folder for "Add bookmark."

What to Know

  • Go to the URL in Safari. Tap Share > Add Bookmark or Add to Favorites . Accept the name, and select Save .
  • Edit and rearrange bookmarks by tapping the Bookmarks icon at the bottom of Safari and selecting Edit beneath the list.

This article explains how to add bookmarks on an iPhone or iPod Touch using the Safari browser app. We also discuss the difference between bookmarks and favorites. Instructions apply to devices with iOS 10 and later.

How to Add Bookmarks in Safari for iPhone

To add a bookmark to Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch:

Open Safari and go to the URL you want to bookmark.

Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the page. It looks like a box with an arrow pointing up.

In the Share menu, tap Add Bookmark . Enter a new name, if you like, or tap Save to save the bookmark under its original name.

Alternatively, press and hold the Bookmark icon (it looks like an open book) beside the Share icon and select Add Bookmark . Select Save to save the bookmark.

How to Add Favorites to Safari on an iPhone

The process for adding favorites is similar:

Open Safari and go to the URL you want to add to your Favorites list.

In the Share menu, tap Add to Favorites . Enter a new name, if you like, or tap Save to save the URL under its original name.

Safari Bookmarks vs. Favorites

People often use the words bookmarks and favorites interchangeably. However, there is a distinction between the two folders in the Safari app on the iPhone and iPod.

In iOS, a favorite is one type of bookmark. Bookmarks on an iPhone or iPod Touch appear in a default primary folder in Safari, where all bookmarked pages are stored. Anything added to this folder is accessible through the Bookmarks icon in Safari so that you can access those saved links at any time.

Favorites is a folder stored within the Bookmarks folder. It's the first folder you see when you access Bookmarks. You don't get quicker access to favorites than to bookmarks on an iPhone or iPod Touch. However, on an iPad, the favorites appear as tabs at the top of every Safari page you open, so you're one tap away from any of them. You can add additional custom folders to either folder to organize your bookmarks on any iOS device.

It's also possible to add bookmark shortcuts to the iPhone or iPod Touch home screen so that you can instantly access websites without first opening Safari.

How to Edit and Arrange Bookmarks

You can edit and arrange your bookmarks in a few ways:

  • To view and organize folders and bookmarks, tap the Bookmark icon at the bottom of any Safari screen to display a list of folders, and then tap the Bookmark tab.
  • To edit folders, tap a folder to open it and display the individual URLs saved in the folder, then tap Edit .
  • To delete a folder or bookmark, tap the red minus next to the name.
  • To rearrange folders or bookmarks, drag the three-horizontal-line icon next to each entry up or down.
  • To add a folder, tap New Folder at the bottom of the editing screen.

But the bookmark folder on your iPhone may be a little tougher to find, and you may be wondering how to bookmark on your iPhone since the interface is a little different.

It’s tough to remember every website that you like. We use the Internet for so many things that we often visit dozens of Web pages everyday, without even realizing it. Remembering the sites that were useful or entertaining can be difficult, so it’s important to create things like bookmarks and favorites so that you can get back to the information that you need.

Where Are Google Chrome Bookmarks Stored? Here's How To Find Them

Man using a computer

When it comes to scouring the Internet, Google Chrome is by far the most popular web browser , relied on by over 63.6% of Internet users globally. It's available on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and even as an entirely independent operating system for Chromebooks. The many  features baked into Google Chrome are what make it convenient for not just browsing on the go, but also saving content you like for later use.

The most effective way to do this is by creating bookmarks. You can save links to your favorite webpages by clicking on the star icon to the extreme right of the address bar. If you're signed in to a Google account, your bookmarks will sync across all your devices. For instance, if you find an interesting read on your phone, but one that demands a larger screen, you can bookmark the page and view it on your laptop later. Utilizing this feature lets you effortlessly save, export, and even transfer your Google Chrome bookmarks to another browser.

With a feature this accessible, we wouldn't blame you if your bookmarks keep piling up. If for whatever reason you're unable to find bookmarks on Chrome, there are a couple of places worth looking for them.

How to access saved bookmarks in Google Chrome

Irrespective of the platform, all bookmarks you create and save can be accessed within Google Chrome itself. The first place to look would be the bookmarks bar, which, on a desktop or laptop, usually sits below the address bar. If you can't locate this section, click on the three-dotted menu icon to the right, hover over "Bookmarks and Lists," and click on "Show Bookmarks Bar."

You can find all added bookmarks there, assuming you explicitly saved them to this location during the creation process. For better organization, Chrome lets you create different folders for bookmarking, which you can use for specific needs. To access all bookmarks, navigate back to the three-dotted menu, select "Bookmarks and Lists," and select "Show all Bookmarks." This will display a side panel UI on Chrome showcasing all of your saved links.

Google Chrome's searching tool on desktop can help you find bookmarks faster by simply typing in "@Bookmarks", followed by keywords that you recall. This can also be used to scan through your history, open a new tab, or chat with Google Gemini. On Android and iOS, you can access all bookmarks by tapping on the three-dotted menu icon and selecting "Bookmarks." This will also display your mobile and other bookmark folders that you may have created.

How to find bookmarks locally on Windows

While Chrome's sync functionality works great for backing up and accessing your bookmarks on other devices, there's another way to do this that doesn't require a connection to the cloud. All links you've saved using Google Chrome are piled up in a bookmarks file that's locally saved on your Windows laptop or desktop computer. First, you'll need to flick a toggle that grants you access to hidden files on Windows.

Open File Explorer, and from the "View" tab, select Show > Hidden Items. Navigate to Local Disk (C:) > Users > your username > App Data > Local > Google > Chrome > User Data > Default. You should now be able to locate a "Bookmarks" file. Opening it will reveal a JSON document containing information and links to all your bookmarks. Any previously deleted bookmarks will be stored in a separate "Bookmarks.bak" file.

With access to this file and by backing it up, you can be certain of never accidentally losing your bookmarks list or being overly reliant on Google's account sync features. Using Microsoft OneDrive's automatic folder backup feature is a good way to further secure this file.

How to access the bookmarks file on Mac

If you use an Apple Mac computer as your daily workhorse, the bookmarks file can still be accessed, albeit in a different location. Go to the desktop on your Mac and click on the "Go" tab in the menu bar up top while holding down the Option key on your keyboard. Then select "Library." This folder will not show up if you don't hold Option while accessing the "Go" menu.

From this folder, navigate to Application Support > Google > Chrome > Default. Among various files and folders, you should be able to locate both the "Bookmarks" and "Bookmarks.bak" files.

You can make copies of these files to a more accessible location on your Mac. Just like with Windows, double-clicking on the Bookmarks file will open a JSON document that features your saved bookmarks. Although you cannot directly import a JSON bookmark file into another browser, you can still manually access the links by relying on good old copy and paste.

PRESS RELEASE

The release introduces all-new customization options, the biggest-ever redesign of Photos, powerful updates for staying connected, and Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA  Apple today previewed iOS 18 , a major release that features more customization options, the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, new ways for users to manage their inbox in Mail, Messages over satellite, and so much more. Users will be able to arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, customize the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Center. Photo libraries are automatically organized in a new single view in Photos, and helpful new collections keep favorites easily accessible. Mail simplifies the inbox by sorting email into categories using on-device intelligence, and all-new text effects come to iMessage. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, users can now communicate over satellite in the Messages app when a cellular or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available. 1

iOS 18 also introduces Apple Intelligence , the personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant. 2 Built with privacy from the ground up, Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context, to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

“We are thrilled to introduce iOS 18. It is a huge release with incredible features, including new levels of customization and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages. There are so many benefits for everyone,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “This release also marks the beginning of a tremendously exciting new era of personal intelligence with Apple Intelligence delivering intuitive, powerful, and instantly useful experiences that will transform the iPhone experience, all with privacy at the core. We can’t wait for users to experience it.”

iPhone users have new ways to customize the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. Users can now arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, including placing them right above the dock for easy access or perfectly framing a wallpaper. App icons and widgets can take on a new look with a dark or tinted effect, and users can make them appear larger to create the experience that is perfect for them.

Control Center has been redesigned to provide easier access to many of the things users do every day, and it gets new levels of customization and flexibility. The redesign delivers quick access to new groups of a user’s most-utilized controls, such as media playback, Home controls, and connectivity, as well as the ability to easily swipe between each. Users can now add controls from supported third-party apps into Control Center to quickly unlock a vehicle or jump right into capturing content for social media — all from one place. The new controls gallery displays the full set of available options, and users can customize how the controls are laid out, including adjusting them to the ideal size and creating entirely new groups.

For the first time, users can now switch the controls at the bottom of the Lock Screen, including choosing from options available in the controls gallery or removing them entirely. With the Action button available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, users can quickly invoke controls available in the gallery.

Photos receives its biggest-ever redesign to help users easily find and relive special moments. A simplified, single view displays a familiar grid, and new collections help users browse by themes without having to organize content into albums. Plus, collections can be pinned to keep favorites easily accessible. A new carousel view presents highlights that update each day and feature favorite people, pets, places, and more. Autoplaying content throughout the app brings libraries to life, so past moments can be enjoyed while browsing. Because each user’s photo library is unique, the app is customizable, so users can organize collections, pin collections to access frequently, and include what’s most important to them in the carousel view.

iMessage receives all-new text effects that bring conversations to life by amplifying any letter, word, phrase, or emoji with dynamic, animated appearances. Users can better express tone by adding formatting like bold, underline, italics, and strikethrough. Tapbacks expand to include any emoji or sticker, and now users can compose a message and schedule to send it at a later time.

When messaging contacts who do not have an Apple device, the Messages app now supports RCS for richer media and more reliable group messaging compared to SMS and MMS.

iOS 18 introduces Messages via satellite for the times when cellular and Wi-Fi connections aren’t available. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, Messages via satellite automatically prompts users to connect to their nearest satellite right from the Messages app to send and receive texts, emoji, and Tapbacks over iMessage and SMS. 3 With Dynamic Island, users always know when they are connected to a satellite. Because iMessage was built to protect user privacy, iMessages sent via satellite are end-to-end encrypted.

Later this year, Mail will introduce new ways for users to manage their inbox and stay up to date. On-device categorization organizes and sorts incoming email into Primary for personal and time-sensitive emails, Transactions for confirmations and receipts, Updates for news and social notifications, and Promotions for marketing emails and coupons. Mail also features a new digest view that pulls together all of the relevant emails from a business, allowing users to quickly scan for what’s important in the moment.

Safari, the world’s fastest browser, 4 now offers an even easier way to discover information on the web with Highlights and a redesigned Reader experience. Using machine learning, Safari can surface key information about a webpage. For example, users can review a summary to get the gist of an article; quickly see the location of a restaurant, hotel, or landmark; or listen to an artist’s track right from an article about the song or album. Reader has been redesigned to offer even more ways to enjoy articles without distraction, with a summary and table of contents included for longer articles.

Building on the foundation of Keychain, which was first introduced more than 25 years ago, the new Passwords app makes it easy for users to access their passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. The app also includes alerts for users regarding common weaknesses, such as passwords that are easily guessed or used multiple times and those that appear in known data leaks.

iOS 18 gives users even more control with tools to manage who can see their apps, how contacts are shared, and how their iPhone connects to accessories.

Locked and hidden apps offer users peace of mind that information they want to keep private, such as app notifications and content, will not inadvertently be seen by others. Users can now lock an app; and for additional privacy, they can hide an app, moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder. When an app is locked or hidden, content like messages or emails inside the app are hidden from search, notifications, and other places across the system.

iOS 18 puts users in control by letting them choose to share only specific contacts with an app. In addition, developers now have a way to seamlessly connect third-party accessories with iPhone without letting an app see all the other devices on a user’s network, keeping a user’s devices private and making pairing seamless.

Deeply integrated into iOS 18 and built with privacy from the ground up, Apple Intelligence unlocks new ways for users to enhance their writing and communicate more effectively. With brand-new systemwide Writing Tools built into iOS 18, users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.

New image capabilities make communication and self-expression even more fun. With Image Playground, users can create playful images in seconds, choosing from three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. Image Playground is easy to use, built right into apps like Messages, and also available in a dedicated app.

Memories in Photos lets users create the stories they want to see just by typing a description. Apple Intelligence will pick out the best photos and videos based on the description, craft a storyline with chapters based on themes identified from the photos, and arrange them into a movie with its own narrative arc. In addition, a new Clean Up tool can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo — without accidentally altering the subject.

With the power of Apple Intelligence, Siri takes a major step forward, becoming even more natural, contextually relevant, and personal. Users can type to Siri, and switch between text and voice to communicate with Siri in whatever way feels right for the moment.

With Private Cloud Compute, Apple sets a new standard for privacy in AI, with the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing, and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers. When requests are routed to Private Cloud Compute, data is not stored or made accessible to Apple and is only used to fulfill the user’s requests, and independent experts can verify this privacy.

Additionally, access to ChatGPT is integrated into Siri and systemwide Writing Tools across Apple’s platforms, allowing users to access its expertise — as well as its image- and document-understanding capabilities — without needing to jump between tools.

Additional features in iOS 18 include:
