Gary Meikle is heading out on his ‘Surreal’ Tour

Af ter a meteoric rise through the ranks, Scottish Comedy Award winner and viral sensation  Gary Meikle is back, returning to stages across the country with his brand-new tour show,   SURREAL ; a title that perfectly describes Meikle’s last two years. 

Having started 2019 performing in comedy clubs, Meikle ended that year selling out   theatres across the globe, after one of the stand-up’s videos about his daughter’s eyebrow’s  ( link ) went viral worldwide. Due to COVID, 2020 touring plans were then, of course, put on  hold. 

Meikle’s brand-new UK tour will span the country for 50 dates from;

Saturday 28 th August  

2021 – Sunday 16 th January 2022 , and includes a performance at London’s Leicester Square  Theatre on Friday 15 th October 2021 , and a homecoming show at Glasgow’s Royal Concert  Hall on Friday 7 th January 2022 . 

Not one for mincing his words, Gary has been described as ‘playfully dark’. His cheeky chappy nature and ability to get away with talking about anything will have you laughing at things  you probably shouldn’t. As always, Gary will draw material from his own real-life experiences,  including his rapid rise to online fame and his unique family dynamic – he single-handedly  raised his daughter from the age of 17 and became a grandfather at 39. Quickly putting his  audiences at ease, a night of stand up with Gary feels like a night in the pub chatting with  friends! 

Of what to expect from his new show Surreal , Gary said: “ 2019 was such a surreal year for   me when the videos took off, and I was just getting ready to hit the theatres across the country with this brand-new show in 2020 when COVID  hit. I’ve been stuck in lockdown with two generations of formidable Meikle women, and let me tell you, after that, my daughter and  granddaughter are just as excited to be waving me off on this tour as I am to be getting on stage again!” 

Having performed to tens of thousands of people over the past couple of years, Gary has found a new confidence and level of openness on  stage, meaning he doesn’t hold back on giving his opinions, no matter how warped! The new show will cover topics such as evolution, social  media, how to deal with burglars, single mums, bee sex, small man syndrome and much more. Gary is a fast paced, punchy storyteller that  finds the funny in anything. 

Meikle has been on the comedy circuit as a stand-up since 2014, and in 2019 rocketed to fame, becoming known internationally for his viral  social media video rants on subjects including eyebrows , hair extensions and dick pics , which have had over 150 million  views and counting. Meikle was named at the top of The List’s ‘Comedy Hot 100’ for 2019. 

Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, where he still resides, Gary Meikle has built a global audience (35% in the US) over the last few years, and took  his debut show “The iBrow Guy” around the world including the US, Canada, Dubai & Europe. Most notably, he performed a sell-out show  at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall with a capacity of 2000, with all proceeds raised going to the charity Ronald McDonald House.

Ladies & Gentleman! Gary Meikle is back yet again with another self-written, self-deprecating show to leave you all short of breath again. Last year “Papa” as he is becoming more commonly known as, because the 1st ever comedian worldwide without an agent (his choice) to be granted a full working visa for the USA and is keen to keep on showing why.

Gary’s tour this year promises to deliver! He will reluctantly share his newest role in life being a kept man, the lady of course being his ever-growing-smarter granddaughter, Gracie. Who intelligently but more essentially rips the piss out of her Papa daily. A few stories to note are when she blatantly points out that he’s got “moobs”. She also embarrasses him by telling the truth about his tattoos to a stranger that he is trying to impress. She explains in detail how her Papa isn’t THAT famous and how she calls him a bad name without meaning it. There are literally too many Gracie and Papa stories to cover but as usual, Gary will go off on tangents and delve into the workings of his on mind.

He will tackle subjects such as: rejection issues of men and women, what it was like being a 14-year-old hormonal boy, how it is ok for men to be overtly feminine now, cold showers, mosquitoes on holiday and much more.

If you can guarantee one thing from Gary it is that he will work his 5’8 ass off to make sure everyone that sees him live wants to come back for more. Your laughter makes up for the rejection he suffered in his earlier years, and he will thank you all individually if you choose to come along to his pre-show meet and greet that he will be doing at every single show.
