Fact Sheet: Idaho Falls Look Up Tour with Will Graham

LOCAL PARTICIPATION:

Alongside the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, hundreds of people—representing more than 100 churches from across the region—are working together to host the Idaho Falls Look Up Tour with Will Graham .

KidzFest – a special event tailored just for children, featuring bounce houses, face painting and games – will take place on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 23. The program will include music by Rend Collective, an interactive video Gospel presentation called The Quest, and a message of hope from Will Graham.

Along with a message from Will Graham, the evening events on Saturday and Sunday will feature free concerts by well-known Christian artists, including:

• Rend Collective , a Christian folk rock worship band originating from Northern Ireland. The Dove Award-nominated group is well known for their unique sound and their hit songs, including “Build Your Kingdom Here” and “My Lighthouse.” Rend Collective will perform at KidzFest and Student Night on Sept. 23.
• Crowder , a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter known for his wide-ranging fusion of pop, rock, folk, electronic, bluegrass, and hip-hop. Crowder will perform at Family Night on Sept. 24.
• Christine D’Clario , who is considered one of the top Latin worship leaders in the world. She will perform in both English and Spanish at Family Night.

REV. WILL GRAHAM:                                              

William Franklin Graham IV (Will) is the third generation of Grahams to proclaim the Gospel under the banner of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The grandson of Billy Graham and the oldest son of Franklin Graham, Will has shared the hope of Jesus with more than one million people across six continents since beginning his evangelistic ministry in 2006.

“I’m not trying to be the next Billy Graham; I’m just Will Graham,” says the ordained minister. “I have a burden in my heart to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If that’s to an arena full of people or one person on the street, I will do whatever God is calling me to do.”

In addition to his evangelistic outreaches, Will serves as Executive Vice President of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, giving leadership to all aspects of the organization that his grandfather founded in 1950. 

Will graduated from Liberty University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Religion and in 2001 graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.

Will and his wife, Kendra, have two daughters, Christine Jane (CJ) and Rachel Austin, and a son, William Franklin Graham V (Quinn).

OTHER AREA MINISTRY:

• The Graham family and other Billy Graham Evangelistic Association evangelists have held eight evangelistic outreaches in the state of Idaho, and 14 outreaches in the neighboring states of Utah and Wyoming.
• Billy Graham’s only Crusade in Idaho took place in Boise in 1982. More than 100,000 people attended the weeklong outreach. He also spoke several times in neighboring states, including evangelistic outreaches in Utah and Wyoming – both in 1945 as part of his ministry with Youth For Christ – and a joint outreach with Associate Evangelist Ralph Bell in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1987.
• Franklin Graham spoke at the state capital of Idaho in August of 2016 as part of his 50-state Decision America Tour.
• BGEA Associate Evangelists – such as John Wesley White, Ralph Bell, Grady Wilson and Leighton Ford – have held several outreaches across Idaho over the years, in communities such as Twin Falls, Coeur D’Alene, Nampa, Burley and Boise.

Humbly looking for his words and ways in this city, idaho falls look up tour launch with will graham.

Even after approximately 140 years of history through Christ’s Church in this region along the Snake River plain, there is much work to do for the glory of God.  Providentially, there is a renewed anticipation for the outpourings of God’s love and grace upon people as they look up to Him. We have been earnestly praying.

In ten weeks, on Thursday, January 26, Will Graham , the grandson of Billy Graham, will be here in our river city. At The Waterfront in the Snake River Landing, we are gathering at 6:00 pm for our public Launch of the Idaho Falls Look Up Tour with Will Graham. This is an opportunity to meet and hear Will speak to us from God’s Word and to worship and fellowship with faithful ambassadors of Christ serving all throughout our beautiful area of the Intermountain West.  The Eastern Idaho Worship Collective will lead us in songs of worship to the Lord.

We invite all the pastoral teams and ministry leaders from Christian congregations throughout the area to join us. We pray for Jesus to be lifted high in the year 2023 so that all might be drawn to Him .

Will Graham, grandson of Billy Graham, bringing ‘Look Up’ tour to eastern Idaho

IDAHO FALLS – World-renowned Evangelical minister Will Graham, grandson of Billy Graham, paid a visit to eastern Idaho Thursday morning to announce an event he’ll be a part of later this year.

The Idaho Falls Look Up Tour is happening at the Mountain America Center in September. It will feature a variety of speakers from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, along with local pastors, Christian leaders and live music.

Graham tells EastIdahoNews.com he and his team were invited to host a two-day event similar to the Billy Graham crusades that many people are familiar with.

“We prayed about it and figured this is where God wants us to be. We’re looking forward to that,” Graham says. “We’re going to do a kid’s program one day and then the whole family on the next day.”

This was Graham’s first visit to the Gem State, but he’s traveled through it many times. Since his ordination in 2002, he’s traveled around the globe and spoken to more than one million people.

Graham recalls a conversation he once had with the President of Nepal that was particularly meaningful.

“He was a Hindu, very gracious man. He invited us to his home and I had a chance to present the gospel to him,” he says. “That’s one of the first times I’ve met a world leader.”

As he’s met with other prominent people over the years and gotten to know them and their families, he’s realized how alike people are all over the world and how much they have in common.

‘God … had a plan for me early on’

The 48-year-old North Carolina native is continuing the worldwide ministry his grandfather began in 1949, according to the Billy Graham website. Following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps is an idea that he says God planted in him when he was just 7 years old.

“I look back at it, and I can see what I call bread crumbs, where God was working in my life … and had a plan for me early on,” he says.

He remembers his elementary school teacher asking the class to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up. He drew aviator headsets (his dad became a pilot to fly from place to place during his ministry) and an open Bible. On the paper, he wrote, “I want to fly around and tell people about Jesus.”

“I guess that’s what I’m doing now, but I’m just not flying myself. I fly on Delta or American Airlines,” Graham says, who is also a pilot.

Graham grew up reading the Bible with his family, but he “fell in love with it” while attending Liberty University in Virginia.

He attended seminary and eventually started pastoring at a local church, which he says was the last thing he wanted to do at the time.

“They don’t get paid anything, they have to work 24/7 and everyone’s upset with something the pastor said or did,” Graham recalls, laughing.

Since joining the Billy Graham ministry in 2006, he looks back on his pastoring days with fondness. And he’s proud to continue the work his grandfather started 74 years ago.

As the third-generation torchbearer of the Graham family name and ministry, we asked Will if there’s ever a moment, even in private, where he just wants to let loose and be a little naughty.

He responded, “No, my mama would beat me.”

‘Does God have a plan for me?’

In his travels around the globe, Graham says the question he’s asked most often is, “Does God have a plan for me?” Speaking from personal experience, his answer to that is a resounding yes. And by having a relationship with Jesus Christ, he says we can discover what that purpose is.

“We don’t look for the things of earth, but we look up. We look up toward Heaven. We look to God for our answers and meaning in life,” Graham explains.

The phrase “Look up” is the theme of his tour in Idaho Falls. He’s looking forward to sharing his message with eastern Idaho.

“We think there is a unique opportunity for Will Graham and the BGEA to partner with biblical churches in the Snake River region to … share the good news,” local pastor Todd Wood says in a news release for the event. “We anticipate a great rippling of the gospel outward from the river city of Idaho Falls.”
