Skyline of the Old City at the Western Wall and Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Israel.

A visit to Israel — the “land of milk and honey” — is even more bountiful on a Holland America Line cruise. Calls in Ashdod and Haifa offer the chance to walk through Jerusalem’s Old City, paying homage at the Western Wall and Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. Ashdod also provides access to UNESCO-designated Tel Aviv and the Dead Sea, while Haifa leads to Galilee and the Golan Heights. Take full advantage on an Israel overland adventure that combines Jerusalem with pilgrimages to Masada or Bethlehem.

Cruises to Israel and the Holy Land

Say the words holy land cruise and you might whet the appetite of more than one cruiser..

This fabled part of Israel, available on many Mediterranean cruises is a must see-destination for many. The region is the cradle of the three world’s main religions, and is a destination that warrants discovery. But cruises to Israel are not just for those on a Christian, Jewish or Islamic pilgrimage. For sure, people have flocked here from all over the world but there is far more to a Holy Land cruise than just the holy.

Silversea’s cruises to Israel are part of our various Mediterranean itineraries, making joining (and, regrettably, leaving) your ship very easy. Most departures are from Athens, and you’ll most likely take in a few Greek islands first. Once you reach the Holy Land, we guarantee even the most jaded history buff will become revitalised. However, today, the busy cities of Jerusalem and Nazareth are far more than just historical destinations; they are overflowing with contemporary life.

Arrive in Ashdod and enjoy the hour or so voyage to the city of Jerusalem. The city is known for its timeless beauty and as the one time centre of the world; it has a heavy influence on modern day civilisation. Sightseeing here is packed full of must sees- run your hands over the Western Wall, visit the Yad Vashem holocaust museum or travel north to Tel Aviv and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site city and the famous Jaffa Gate.

Nazareth is no less spectacular. The home of Jesus Christ himself, the city had a heady reputation to live up to. But far from being the bucolic town one might expect, Nazareth is a modern hub that belies its heritage. If the mega metropolis is too urban, head out to Golan Heights and explore the stunning scenery and historic sites where it is believed Jesus lived, preached, and performed his miracles.

Silversea’s shore excursion programme offers fascinating insights to this incredible part of the world. All the sights – and sites – are visited so the only thing you have to choose is how much or how little you want to do!

All-Inclusive Cruises

All-Inclusive Cruises

All-inclusive means many things to many people, so let’s just clear up any confusion right now. When we say all-inclusive, that’s exactly what we mean. From the moment you embark, you’ll be secure in the knowledge that your needs have already been taken care of. These include economy flights to reach your ship, fine food and wine (including premium brands), shore excursions (from spring 2022), fees, evening entertainment, keep-fit classes, gratuities … you name it! Some suite categories even have business class flights and transfers as well, so when we say all-inclusive, we really mean it.

Gourmet Cuisine

Gourmet Cuisine

Cuisine has always been a hallmark of Silversea and with Silver Moon’s superb destination driven .S.A.L.T. programme, tasteful travel take on a new meaning. Our all-inclusive cruises to Israel offer far more than just onboard luxury and superb shore excursions. Israeli food ranges from first class olives and olive oil to heavenly Medjool dates, figs, honey, saffron, mint and sage, so enjoy all these wonderful flavours aboard our newest flagship. Lovers of international fare are not forgotten either: expect yummy Italian specialities in our famous La Terrazza, traditional classics in Atlantide or for those travelling on Silver Spirit, Asian-fusion and Japanese specialities in Indochine and Sheisin.

Mediterranean cruises are not just for visits to southern Europe. On a luxury cruise to Israel, ports of call deliver sites that are historically and culturally significant to the religions of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam – and very easy to visit. Some of the most storied attractions, buildings, artifacts, and religious sites in the world are in close proximity. From the largest Israeli port of Ashdod, passengers disembark to enjoy excursions to either Jerusalem or Tel

Aviv. One of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem offers iconic religious sites that reflect its 6,000-year-old history, including the Western Wall, Dome of the Rock, Temple Mount, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Mount of Olives, and the Garden of Gethsemane, among others. A trip to the Mahane Yehuda market is a taste sensation, with tea

and fresh spices by the bushel, and cakes and baklava fresh from the oven. Dense, flaky halva weighs down the shopkeepers’ shelves. Outside town, the Dead Sea on the border with Jordan is the lowest point on earth. Its high concentration of salt suppresses life of any kind, but you will be amazed at how well you can float! South of Jerusalem, the small city of Bethlehem is a must-do, particularly during the Christmas season, as people make their way to the Church of the Nativity. The golden beach town of Tel Aviv is Israel’s cosmopolitan urban showpiece, sporting spectacular dining and nightlife. Stunning 1930s architecture, fashionable neighborhood marketplaces, fascinating museums, and plenty of sand and surf keep visitors busy. The port city of Haifa also allows for easy access to Tel Aviv and presents the opportunity for Christian excursions to Nazareth that include the Church of the Multiplication and Mount of Beatitudes. A boat ride on the Sea of Galilee becomes the most perfect afternoon.

Meet Our Travel Designers

What is your approach to planning a luxury cruise? With new clients, I like to get to know them and really listen to their needs or wishlist, as well as asking all the appropriate questions to assist me in my research.

Jackie Grittani

Senior Travel Designer

What is your approach to planning a bespoke luxury cruise? I try to find out what the client’s version of luxury is. What their interests are, do they like small ships or medium size. I ask what they are interested in spending and what kinds of trips they’ve done in the past.

What is the most memorable vacation you have planned for a client? I arranged a Regent cruise and customized pre-cruise tour in Beijing for a 50th wedding anniversary. They visited highlights including the Great Wall. After 21 days of being on the road, they were not yet ready to return home!

This 19th-century church features famous depictions of the prophets Ezekiel and Isaiah, as well as a cedar statue of the Virgin Madonna of Mt. Carmel.

Israel Cruises

Israel cruise vacations that deliver more than you expect.

Following the recent events in Israel, Celestyal is closely monitoring the situation and we are maintaining constant communication with the Israeli authorities.

Our top priority is the health, safety, and comfort of our guests, and after careful consideration we have made the necessary updates to our itineraries by temporarily cancelling the call into Israel. This will be in place until the end of November this year, and under constant review, due to the circumstances beyond our control. In the meantime, our teams will be updating all our affected customers and agents directly in the coming days.

A cruise vacation in Israel brings you up close and personal with a small area of land that has more connections with history than you can imagine. As we pull into the port of Ashdod, countless fascinating adventures await you. The only difficult choice you have is what you want to do.

Israel may be a tiny country but it’s one that never fails to amaze visitors. Its energetic cities are bustling with welcoming locals, exquisite Mediterranean beaches and peaceful nature spots. Few countries this small can boast as much history, geographical diversity, and cultural treasures.

Blessed with sweeping golden beaches and a host of vibrant cultural attractions, the captivating lure of Israel includes the holy land of Jerusalem – the official capital – Bethlehem, the birthplace of the Jesus, the ancient port of Jaffa and the thrill of Tel Aviv brimming with beaches and urban vitality. The number of museums and cultural institutions per capita is larger in Israel than anywhere in the world.

You have only to stroll along Rothschild Boulevard or Bialik Street to see why UNESCO has designated Tel Aviv “The White City.” These opulent tree-lined neighborhoods celebrate the unique architectural Bauhaus style buildings brought to the city by Jews returning from Germany and Austria. The prestige connected with the area stimulated a vibrant cafe culture and fine-dining experience.

In Tel Aviv, you will walk along the Tayelet (seaside promenade) where the cross-section of Tel Aviv society is inherently evident. And without having to cross a single street, you can explore the ancient port of Jaffa at the southern end of the promenade. Its labyrinth of winding cobblestone streets is lined with quirky crafts shops and the charming harbor is an ideal spot to hang out at a sun-soaked cafe and watch the boats go by.

Ancient Monuments

With a cultural past that stretches back to pre-biblical times, Israel has a rich array of ancient sites that are easy to explore. One of the most famous is Masada, the mountainous stronghold at the edge of the Judean desert where Jews tried to fend off the ancient Romans.

Of course, many of the most historic sites are in the heart of Jerusalem. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is the holiest place for Catholic and Orthodox Christians because it marks the site of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial, and Resurrection. Completed in A.D. 335, the basilica is positioned on the foundations of an ancient Roman temple that was dedicated to Venus.

The actual sepulcher is inside the Edicule, a two-room chapel underneath the church’s rotunda. There are separate prayer times for the various denominations. And those walking the Via Dolorosa—which means “way of sorrows”—symbolically relive the moments of Christ’s Passion.

Day 1: Departure

Today we embark on our Journey to the Holy Land. Prepare yourself for a life-changing experience. Get some rest on the flight…tomorrow you will be walking where Jesus walked!

Day 2: Arrive Israel

israel and cruise

Arrive in Israel and travel northward to our hotel for one night in the coastal area near Tel Aviv. The remainder of the day is free to walk along the Mediterranean, relax, and have dinner. The time is right for a personal devotional with the sunset over the “Great Sea.” Meet your Israeli guide, enjoy a time of prayer of thanks for safety and the special blessings ahead, a prayer for the people of the "Promised Land," and a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Caesarea, Megiddo, & Nazareth

israel and cruise

After breakfast, we travel by private motor coach along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea, where Gentiles first heard the Good News from Peter and were baptized. We’ll see the Roman Amphitheatre, hippodrome, a film on history and the remains of this famous port city, an aqueduct, and then journey through the Mt. Carmel range, where Elijah challenged King Ahab and the prophets of Baal. Next we travel through the Jezreel Valley to Megiddo, the Armageddon battlefield, where archaeologists have unearthed 20 levels of civilization. We drive through the area of Cana and Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus, where we visit the Nazareth Village, a wonderful recreation of Biblical times with costumed guides. We will have dinner and overnight lodging for the next three nights along the Sea of Galilee.

Day 4: Dan, Caesarea Philippi, Jesus Boat, Sea of Galilee Boat Ride, Magdala

israel and cruise

Following breakfast, our morning travels take us to two valuable northern sites. Dan is where the children of Israel fell to the depths of alternative sacrifice and Caesarea Philippi, the site of Peter’s confession and pagan worship. We pass the possible site of the multiplication of loaves and fishes in Bethsaida and the Mount of the Beatitudes. Returning to Galilee for a St. Peter’s fish lunch (other selections available), we then visit the ancient fisherman boat followed by a relaxing cruise on the Sea of Galilee. A brief scripture reading and devotional on board brings to life the experiences of Jesus and the fishermen disciples. We conclude our day with a visit to Magdala, hometown of Mary Magdalene. The recent excavation of the first century synagogue and well-preserved village makes Magdala one of the most interesting Biblical sites in Israel.

Day 5: Capernaum, Corazin, Mt. Arbel, Jordan River Baptism Site

israel and cruise

Today we visit the Biblical towns of Capernaum and Corazin. Capernaum is located along the Sea of Galilee and was the hometown of Peter. It is likely where Jesus and the disciples lived during much of His ministry while in Galilee. Next, we visit Corazin which offers another example of a Jewish synagogue and a replica of the “Seat of Moses” which was carved out of the local basalt block and from which the scribes and Pharisees would have read the Torah. We enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Galilee region atop Mt. Arbel. Mt. Arbel could likely be the location that Jesus would get away from the crowds to take time in prayer with His heavenly Father. Here our guide will point out the various towns listed in scripture during the time of Jesus. We conclude our day with an opportunity to be baptized at the Jordan River Baptismal Site.

Day 6: Beit Shean, Bethany Beyond Jordan, Abraham's Tent, Mt. of Olives & Garden of Gethsemane

israel and cruise

We travel southward this morning to Beit-Shean/Scythopolis, the most magnificent archeological site in Israel, located at the strategic juncture of the Jezreel and Jordan valleys. Like Jericho, it has been almost continuously occupied throughout history. After defeating Saul and his sons on Mt. Gilboa, the Philistines hanged their bodies on the walls of Beit-Shean. During the time of Jesus, Scythopolis was one of the chief cities of the Decapolis - a league of ten cities sharing Greek culture and government. Following the fertile Jordan Valley southward, your guide will point out the agricultural restoration of the “Land of Milk and Honey” and Israel’s intricate irrigation development. We pass ancient Jericho and view from a distance this city famed as the oldest in the world. To the east of Jericho along the Jordan River Valley (Queser El Yehud) is the Israeli side of Bethany Beyond the Jordan. In this area Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist; Elijah and Elisha crossed the Jordan; and the children of Israel, led by Joshua, entered the Promised Land. This afternoon we will take part in the Genesis Land/Dinner in Abraham's Tent, where we enjoy a trip back in time to relive life in the time of the Patriarchs, complete with costume, dramatic presentation, camel ride and authentic food. Arriving in Jerusalem we’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the Old City atop the Mt. of Olives and then the Garden of Gethsemane. How many have wished to be whisked back in time to get a glimpse of our Lord or hear His voice if only for a moment? To walk between the ancient olive trees, read the scriptures of Jesus' prayer and take time for personal reflection is important here. We will have dinner and overnight lodging for the next four nights in Jerusalem.

Day 7: Masada, Ein Gedi, Dead Sea Scrolls, Dead Sea Swim

israel and cruise

Our day begins with a cable car ride to the mountain top fortress of Masada. Here our guide will treat us to the history of the famous zealot stand. Afterwards we proceed to Ein Gedi, "Spring of the Goat," an oasis on the western shore of the Dead Sea. Because of its warm climate and abundant supply of water, the site developed a reputation for its fragrant plants and date palm groves. This is where King David hid from Saul and where God defeated the enemies of the Israelites by praise and worship led by King Jehoshaphat. Next, we visit the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. This afternoon we have an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing float in the Dead Sea.

Day 8: Jesus’ Steps, Western Walls, Southern Steps, Way of Suffering, Garden Tomb

israel and cruise

Today we walk where Jesus walked, beginning the day with a visit to the Wailing Wall and then the fascinating Rabbinical Tunnels leading us through the Second Temple era. The tunnel and exhibit give a clear understanding of the amazing construction of the Temple Mount, giant stones, water supply and Roman street where our Lord was led to judgment. Before exiting the tunnel, we see the immense cornerstone rejected by the builders. Next, we visit the Southern Wall Excavations. This southern side of The Temple was the main entrance for the common folk, whereas the Priests and Levites had their own entrance from the higher eastern side. Parts of the giant stairs, which led to the Temple Mount from the courtyard have been unearthed along with the purification pools. From here Jesus entered the Temple Mount and drove out the vendors and money exchangers who were exploiting the people. It is also likely that this is the place where Peter stood and preached and where thousands were saved and baptized on the Day of Pentecost. This afternoon we move on to the Judgment Hall of Pilate, hear of those who conspired against Him and are reminded of His brutal beating and humiliation. From here we will also be able to see the Pool of Bethesda, Stephen's Gate, and St. Anne’s Church. While walking along the Via Dolorosa, we are reminded of His way of suffering along with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Our guide will explain the differing opinions on the route where Christ was led. (The actual place of crucifixion and burial is a very interesting study!) The climax of the day is the area of Golgotha (place of the skull) and the Garden Tomb, where we celebrate the resurrection with communion and a time of praise.

Day 9: Israel Museum, Friends of Zion Museum, Bethlehem

israel and cruise

An interesting and educational time awaits us today at the Israeli Museum. Walk through collections of century’s old Israeli artifacts including the Dead Sea Scrolls, and then a guided walk through an accurately detailed model of Biblical Jerusalem. This model will help put into perspective all that you have seen over the previous days’ touring. We then visit the Friends of Zion Museum to learn of the 19th and 20th century heroes of the Jewish people. We spend the remainder of the day surrounding the birth of Christ with a visit to Bethlehem. This evening we enjoy a special lecture by a local believer prior to dinner, giving us a perspective of Messianic life in Israel.

Day 10: Arrive Athens

israel and cruise

We fly to Athens and check into our hotel. You will have the remainder of the day free to relax or take a stroll along the streets of Athens to enjoy the flavor of the city. This evening our group will enjoy the first of many delectable European style dinners.

Day 11: Cruising Mykonos

We sail this morning from Athens to the quaint isle of Mykonos, called the island of windmills. Experience the waterfront lined with shops and cafes and then stroll the charming walkways through a maze of whitewashed buildings before returning to the ship for dinner and evening entertainment.

Day 12: Ephesus and Patmos

Docking in Turkey, enjoy a tour of Ephesus, the city of the Bible and one of the largest restorations still in progress with miles of ancient treasures. Ephesus was once a thriving port town of 250,000 people. Today you can still see the spectacular excavations of the major streets in this ancient city including the Agora, the Odeon, the Library, the marble-paved main Street, the Baths, Trajan’s Fountain, the Residences of the Patricians, the Prytaneum, and Temple of Hadrian. The Great Theatre, built in the 4th century B.C., could accommodate 24,000 spectators and it is famous even nowadays for its acoustics. This afternoon we visit the Isle of Patmos, under statutory protection as a historic monument. Here we have a tour to see the fortified monastery of St. John and the cave claimed to be where John received the Revelation. Back on the ship, enjoy the Captain's dinner before settling in to your cabin for the night.

Day 13: Crete & Beautiful Santorini

israel and cruise

Crete is the largest and the most rugged of the Greek islands. Take a tour to Heraklion and the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate Palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. This afternoon visit the island of Santorini which is perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. You may choose to take an optional panoramic bus tour viewing some of the most spectacular scenery of the Aegean. Travel through countless villages and settlements with delicate architecture and beauties eventually arriving in Oia. During your time in Oia, visit the many narrow streets, open-air cafes and glittering boutiques. Upon returning to the ship, we view the lace-like caldera, the little islands of Thirasia, Palea, & Nea Kameni. We arrive at the ship for dinner and evening entertainment.

Day 14: Disembark Cruise – Ancient Corinth & Cenchreae

israel and cruise

We disembark the cruise this morning and travel west with a rest stop and photos at the Corinth Canal. Next, we visit ancient Corinth, the city that inspired many of Paul's most familiar letters and is a highlight for the New Testament scholar. See the Archaeological Museum, the Market Place, the Bema, and the Temples. To enjoy a devotional in the midst of the ruins of the church of Corinth and see the pillars, steps, and public worship place where Paul preached will enhance your understanding and love for the Bible. The ruins of this important cultural center are fascinating as we walk along the stone path that the Apostle Paul walked. The engineering skill and intellect of these people are evident in the water systems that still flow from ancient to modern day. Our guide will be sure to show you the room dedicated to the medical care of that period. We travel on to the top of the nearby Acropolis where our guide will speak on the worship practices and point out the bird’s eye view of what was a bustling city of around 800,000 during Paul’s stay. Another important stop is a visit to Diolkos where we view the paved trackway which enabled boats to be moved overland across the Isthmus of Corinth and served as a life line for Corinth. This shortcut allowed ancient vessels to avoid the long and dangerous circumnavigation of the Peloponnese peninsula. Before returning to Athens, we will visit Cenchreae, the ancient port region of Corinth. Acts 18:18 states the Apostle Paul stopped at Cenchreae during his second missionary journey, where he had his hair cut to fulfill a vow.

Day 15: Athens

israel and cruise

Following breakfast this morning we tour Athens, the foundation of democracy. We visit the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and Erectheum before viewing Athens atop Mars Hill where Paul stood and preached the truth to the Gentile nation. From atop Mars Hill we view the Agora below, the ancient market place and center of Athenian public life. Additional sites viewed during our panoramic bus tour are, the House of Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Olympic Stadium, and Presidential Palace. An option later this afternoon is a visit to the famous Plaka with a multitude of shops and cafes.

Day 16: Home

A very early morning departure for the Athens Airport for our flight homeward will allow for arrival home by early afternoon.

Important Note: Although the itinerary above obviously emphasizes the spiritual aspect of this marvelous country, our guides are also experts in and passionate about the miracle of the return of the Jews and the restoration of the state of Israel. This fact, along with many modern day topics (military, politics, education, and other cultural aspects), will be woven into the commentary in order to give you well rounded information.

*The tour itinerary is subject to change or be slightly modified in order to best meet the interests of the group.

israel and cruise

Seabourn calls in Israel seasonally during cruises between the  Mediterranean  and  Asia . The ships call at two ports in Israel:  Ashdod , which is closer to Jerusalem, and  Haifa , which is nearer Tel Aviv. Since Israel is not a large country,  highlights throughout the Holy Land are accessible from either port and on overnight mid-cruise Journeys between them.

Tel Aviv is a lively seaside city whose  UNESCO World Heritage Site , the White City of Tel Aviv, consists of a neighborhood of distinctive Bauhaus structures around Rothschild Avenue built between the 1920s and the 1950s. The  oldest section, Jaffa , is the original entry port for Israel with narrow, crowded streets and retains a remnant of the character of bygone eras. The Jaffa Tales Visitors Center uses modern technology to recount a historic and mythic lore that includes Jonah’s embarkation to sail to Tarshish, St. Peter residing in the local house of Simon the Tanner and the princess Andromeda languishing in chains prior to her rescue by Perseus. Locals gather to chat and play board games along the pleasant parklike Tel Aviv Seaside Promenade.

Jerusalem contains so many places of religious and historic importance that it well deserves a two-day visit. Panoramic views of the Old City and the Temple Mount are available from the  Mount of Olives  or the Haas-Sherover Promenade. Various tours visit  Mt. Zion , the Room of the Last Supper and King David’s Tomb. The Old City Walls encompass Zion Gate, the Dung Gate and  the Western (Wailing) Wall .  The Jewish Quarter  holds the Roman Cardo and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with its five Stations of the Cross. The new city highlights include the  Knesset, Israeli Supreme Court, the Shrine of the Book with the Dead Sea Scrolls , the moving Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and Children’s Memorial, as well as the Israel Museum with a scale model of the Second Temple. In the Valley of Kidron visitors can stroll the  Garden of Gesthemane and visit the Church of All Nations set amongst ancient olive trees .

Bethlehem beckons with the  Church of the Nativity  built above the Cave of the Nativity where Jesus is said to have been born. Over the Judean Mountains in Nazareth is the Church of the Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph built over his carpentry workshop. In the region of the  Sea of Galilee is the Mount of the Beatitudes and St. Peter’s home village Capernaum .

Further afield, passing Qumran, the source of the Dead Sea Scrolls, stands the  clifftop fortress of Masada , accessible by cable car.

Non-religious attractions in Israel include  the ancient city of Acre  which has earned UNESCO World Heritage status for its Ottoman quarter and the beautiful Baha’i Gardens, as well as Crusader-era structures and the 18th-century Khan el-Umdan (Inn of the Pillars) caravanserai.

Caesarea is another archaeological wonder , with the excavated Herod’s Palace, a Roman theater, hippodrome, baths, a Crusaders’ fort, Byzantine Market and an aqueduct.  Mt. Carmel is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, near the ancient city of Tiberius, Zippori National Park and the Golan Heights .

Cruise missile, apparently fired from Iraq, shot down over northern Israel – IDF

I sraeli air defenses shot down a cruise missile fired at the southern Golan Heights “from the east,” the Israel Defense Forces said Thursday.

The army has described past attacks from Iraq as “from the east.”

The projectile had originally been thought to be a drone and triggered sirens.

No injuries or damage were caused in the attack.

There was no claim of responsibility from Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The groups have claimed a number of drone attacks on the southern city of Eilat in the last several months.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq — a loose formation of armed groups affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces, itself a coalition of former paramilitary forces integrated into Iraq’s regular armed forces — has claimed dozens of drone attacks on Israel amid the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

Many of the militia’s claims have been exaggerated, but in one case it managed to hit an Israeli Navy base in Eilat, causing damage. The Iran-backed group said it had struck a “vital target” in Israel “with appropriate weapons,” without elaborating further.

Along with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, Iran-backed groups in Yemen and Syria have claimed to have launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel during the ongoing war sparked by Hamas’s devastating October 7 terror onslaught.

Additionally, Lebanon’s Hezbollah has attacked communities and IDF positions in northern Israel on a near-daily basis in attacks it says are in support of Gazans amid Israel’s war against Hamas.

Iran also carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel last month with hundreds of drones and missiles.

Also on Thursday, Israeli air defenses mistakenly shot down an IDF drone over the northern border community of Shlomi.

The IDF said it was investigating the incident.

Sirens had sounded in Shlomi due to fears of falling shrapnel.

Before that incident, an apparent drone launched from Lebanon was intercepted by the Iron Dome over northern Israel.

Awkward moment Tom Cruise nearly gets into Rishi Sunak’s car in London

Tom Cruise suffered a pretty awkward moment after attempting to get into the Prime Minister’s car.

The Hollywood legend , 61, was in London last week and could be seen waving to fans as he strode out into the car park at London Heliport in Battersea.

However, the Top Gun actor was then snapped and filmed attempting to open the door of a black Audi before quickly realising it was not the car he was meant to be in.

Although most of us have faced similar situations when approaching Ubers or forgetting which vehicle is ours in car parks, Tom had been trying to enter the car of one of the most powerful figures in the country.

Currently in the UK filming the latest instalment of the Mission Impossible film series, Tom then walked awkwardly to the right car while one of his entourage ushered him in.

Later in the day, Sunak was spotted leaving the heliport and getting into the same vehicle that Cruise had previously darted towards.

Although the politician didn’t have any trouble finding out which car he was meant to enter, it was made slightly easier by the fact an aide held the door open for him.

The mix-up took place on a day Sunak arrived back in the capital after an election campaign trip to Cornwall and Devon.

The Prime Minister had taken the sleeper train to the South West, arriving in Penzance in the morning.

He then returned to London by helicopter later that evening.

Meanwhile, last month Tom was spotted at Battersea after flying himself there in his own helicopter.

The actor has held a pilot’s licence since 1994 and owns several planes.

On that day he flew from Longcross film studios in Surrey, where the next Mission Impossible is being shot.

Last month his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glen Powell revealed Tom pulled a heart-stopping prank on him.

Glen, who plays Lt. Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin in the film, revealed that Tom once pretended to lose control of a helicopter they were flying in, plummeting over the city of London.

‘Tom goes, “Oh no, oh no,” and he starts dropping the helicopter over London,’ he told GQ.

He then recalled thinking: ‘Am I about to be the unnamed guy that dies with Tom in a smoking hole in the middle of London?’

As Gaza hostage crisis drags on for Israel, here's what we know

Fears are rising that time is running out for hostages in Gaza that are still alive. Nearly eight months later, there are 43 hostages whose remains are being held by Gaza militants and roughly 80 who have not been declared dead. (AP Photo/Ohad Zwigenberg, File)

JERUSALEM – Israel's announcement that four more hostages died in Hamas captivity, including three men in their 80s, stoked fears that time is running out for captives in Gaza who are still alive.

It set off protests across Israel calling for an immediate cease-fire deal that would secure the release of the dozens of remaining captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

About eight months into the Israel-Hamas war, here's where things stand, according to official Israeli figures:

HOSTAGES TAKEN OCT. 7 AND EXCHANGED

Israel’s hostage crisis began when Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing around 1,200 people and kidnapping about 250 back to Gaza.

Of the hostages taken, 105 were released during a weeklong cease-fire in November, in an exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners. The released hostages included 81 Israeli citizens and 24 foreign nationals, most of them Thais .

Four female hostages were released prior to this cease-fire through deals brokered by the U.S. and other mediators.

HOSTAGES REMAINING IN GAZA

After the November cease-fire, more than 120 hostages remained in Gaza, including four Israelis captured years earlier. Two of them, Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, were Israeli soldiers believed to have been killed in a 2014 war.

HOSTAGES DEAD IN GAZA

Of those still in captivity, Israel has pronounced 43 dead, saying their remains are being held by militants. Some are believed to have been killed during the Oct. 7 attack. The cause of death for others is unknown, although Hamas has claimed some were killed in Israeli airstrikes. Israeli officials believe that the number of dead hostages could be higher.

HOSTAGES NOT DECLARED DEAD IN GAZA

There are about 80 hostages left in Gaza who Israel has not pronounced dead.

That includes about 15 women and 2 children under the age of 5 — Kfir and Ariel Bibas, whose mother, Shiri Bibas, is also still in captivity. Two men in their 80s are also among the captives.

Also included is Hersh Polin-Goldberg, a 23-year-old American-Israeli who was taken hostage at a music festival where over 300 people were killed. Polin-Goldberg's parents have led a global campaign seeking their son's release and drawing attention to the plight of the hostages. Hamas released a video of Polin-Goldberg in April. Badly wounded in the Oct. 7 attack, his left hand was amputated. But the video marked the first sign he was alive.

Another hostage believed to be alive is 26-year-old Noa Argamani, whose mother Liora Argamani has stage 4 breast cancer and hopes to see her daughter alive once more .

DEAD HOSTAGES BROUGHT BACK TO ISRAEL

Israeli troops have recovered from Gaza the bodies of at least 16 hostages, according to Israeli government figures.

The bodies of two hostages, including female soldier Noa Marciano, were brought back from Gaza in November. So were the bodies of three hostages killed by friendly fire in December .

The bodies of seven hostages , two women and five men, were recovered in Gaza last month.

HOSTAGES FREED THROUGH MILITARY RESCUES

The Israeli military says it has rescued three hostages in Gaza.

It brought 1 home in the immediate aftermath of the Oct. 7 attack.

Two men were rescued in February when troops stormed a heavily guarded apartment in a densely packed town in the Gaza Strip. Airstrikes carried out to provide cover during the raid killed more than 60 Palestinians, including women and children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
