The team at Klook, a provider of travel tours around the world, recently benefited from a new office fit-out to bring the workplace aesthetic in line with the high quality of services and experiences offered to customers.

Holidaying has changed. Where once, priority was placed primarily on the quality of the hotel and location, travellers today want to strike a balance between beautiful accommodation and experiential elements, which work together to create memories for life.

Klook is a provider of travel tours and activities, offered via a mobile app, which offers a curated selection of activities and attractions in Asia. Its team, based in central Hong Kong, recently benefited from a new office fit-out to bring the workplace aesthetic in line with the high quality of services and experiences offered to customers.

The project was overseen by Bean Buro , an architect studio founded in Hong Kong in 2014 by French architect Lorène Faure and British architect Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui. The studio has a core team of passionate architecture and interior designers who deliver dynamic designs for commercial environments, with clients including Warner Music , L’Oreal , Jardine Restaurant Group , AstraZeneca and Uber . 

The company’s founders had experience of working with Polyflor products on previous projects. Aware of the vast range of products available in materials and colours that could help to conceptualise their designs, they opted for a selection of vinyl floor coverings from Polyflor that brought a clean, fresh and natural feeling to Klook’s workspace.

Forest FX , a wood effect vinyl sheet collection, was used in Oiled Oak in the open office; the designs and colourways of the Forest FX range represent the beauty and sophistication of natural wood, with intricate grains and earthy shades used throughout. The covering is perfect for use in very heavy commercial installations, including education, healthcare, office, retail and leisure sectors.

Additionally, Silentflor – a collection of heavy commercial sheet vinyl flooring with acoustic properties – was specified in communal areas such as corridors and the company pantry.

Achieving 19dB impact sound reduction, Silentflor has been expertly created for a wide range of commercial interiors and is beautifully designed to portray a variety of wood effect, contemporary concrete and abstract themes to achieve a modern, on-trend look. With noise reduction in communal areas a real priority for the project, Bean Buro selected Silentflor’s Burnt Orange to match the wider colour palette of the office fit-out, and teamed this with Warm Concrete, citing the realism of the print as a true benefit for the scheme.

Speaking of the project, Faure said: “The thickness of the Silentflor flooring products made it very easy for installation in this property. We were conscious that we should reduce noise from walking as much as possible, and we felt the product had sufficient acoustic absorption to meet that need.

“We were particularly pleased to be able to select from the wide range of material textures and colours available from Polyflor to match the aesthetic and comfort required of this workplace design.”

The result of this project has been great for us as the designer, for the client and for the many employees of this workplace. As a result, we have continued to specify Polyflor products for projects after this one.

Big brother house, portugal.

Portugal’s Big Brother house needed to grab attention like never before. More than 30,000 sq ft of Polyflor’s Expona Flow, Bloc, Designatex, and Secura products were installed to create an iconic aesthetic that would also stand up against heavy wear and tear.

Interior design student Stacey Dyer used her Instagram account, End of the Row, to document the renovation of her Suffolk end-of-terrace Edwardian home. Polyflor’s Camaro Wood PUR in Georgian Parquet was selected for the newly extended kitchen-dining area of the house to balance both the original style of the house, and the personalised stamp Stacey wanted to put on the property.

In 2021, True Potential LLP, an award-winning group of financial services and technology companies, redesigned its Newcastle headquarters to enable organisational growth, accommodate a reduced office-based team and allow for a more collaborative working environment. Polyflor’s Expona Simplay was fitted throughout the office, selected for its broad colour range which helped split the space into zones, and high durability and ease of maintenance which was essential for the busy environment.

Whilst living in a residential property which all but pays for itself sounds fictitious, it is an everyday reality for the owners of the Eco Home in Hertfordshire. This spacious, forward-thinking house showcases a selection of innovative features. How to Use Klook to Book Travel Experiences (And Save Hundreds of Dollars While Doing It)

What is Klook? Is Klook safe to use? Read on for my Klook review!

If you aren’t already using Klook , then you need to – especially if you’re planning to travel around Asia . Though it has already been around for 4 years, it’s really starting to pick up steam and more travelers are starting to use it to find things to do and book travel experiences.

Whether it is an organized tour to Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai , special skip-the-queue tickets for the iconic Peak Tram in Hong Kong , a day tour from Athens to Delphi , a portable WiFi device that works throughout Europe or a private car charter in Siem Reap , Klook has you covered and often offers activities, entrance tickets and services at a lower cost than elsewhere.

Klook works directly with attraction managers and owners to cut out the middleman so that you can book food tours, walking tours, attraction entry tickets, transportation, local SIM cards and so on all in one place. It’s a must-have travel app for the modern day independent traveler – read on for my Klook review!

How to use Klook

For now most of the deals are found in Asia , though there are increasingly more options for Australia, Europe and the US. You can search for travel experiences by destination, or simply explore the multitude of options by filtering through the various categories . You can use Klook via desktop or via their dedicated mobile app (available for Android and iOS).

When you see the “Instant Confirmation” lightning bolt next to the activity name, it means that you will receive your booking voucher via e-mail or the Klook app within 5 minutes when you complete the payment. Most entry tickets booked through Klook are confirmed immediately, and often you use the QR or bar code provided to enter the attraction directly so that you can skip-the-queue. Almost all of the tour experiences are confirmed within 24 hours, and if your selected date is not available the Klook team will try to schedule you on another date or give you a refund.

Is Klook legit? Yes! But here’s the thing: once you’ve selected an attraction, ticket or service, read the reviews . Klook encourages people who have completed the travel experience to leave a review and offers bonus credits if you add photos. You can then use these credits towards your next travel booking on Klook.

One of my favorite things to use Klook for is the Airport Express train in Hong Kong that takes you from the Airport to the city in 24 minutes. Whereas it usually costs HK$115 (US$15) for a one way trip, it costs just HK$80 (US$11) on Klook – a whole 35% off (or 1 glass of wine at happy hour!).

You receive immediate confirmation and use the QR code sent via e-mail or via your Klook mobile app to enter the gate. No queues, no waiting around – don’t waste your time lining up! You can read more about how to buy discounted Airport Express tickets by clicking here.

Is Klook safe to use? Is Klook a scam?

Klook is legit! In general, simple entry tickets for attractions are 100% safe and convenient, especially if instant confirmation is provided. However, Klook does not operate the tours – instead they are provided by third-party tour companies who have listed their services (similar to GetYourGuide or Viator) on the Klook platform so make sure you read the reviews carefully. If you have any questions, disputes or problems, you can always reach Klook via live chat and quote your booking reference number.

Sign up for a Klook account using this referral link and get HK$25 (US$3.5) off your first travel booking. You should also download the Klook app so that you can check whether you can get a better deal for entrance tickets on-the-go – for example, I checked out the Marina Bay Sands Observation Platform in Singapore and tickets bought on-site from the counter cost 23 SGD or US$17. The price of the entry ticket on Klook is 20 SGD, and because I had some Klook credits I ended up paying 17.8 SGD – nearly 25% off the regular price!

And I did that all while standing in front of the ticket counter at the Marina Bay Sands – within 2-3 minutes, I had booked my ticket, received the instant confirmation, and the staff simply scanned the bar code and I was let right in. During this time, people were still queuing to purchase a ticket!

Can I use Klook to book expensive tours?

Yes! I have used Klook to book travel experiences upwards of US$50-100 per person. I booked this pink dolphin sighting tour in Hong Kong using Klook, and because the tour required a minimum number of people to run, Klook got in touch to see if I could join on another date instead. Soon after I confirmed, I received the confirmed booking voucher in my inbox and absolutely loved the dolphin sighting tour.

I also used Klook to book a boat trip in Ang Thong Marine National Park in Koh Samui , and the tour operator cancelled the tour (for whatever reason) ahead of time. I received an e-mail from Klook and a full refund was issued on the same day via Paypal. However, I ended up losing about HK$50 or US$7 due to the exchange rate that Paypal was using on that particular day. A bit annoying seeing as I didn’t cancel the booking, but what can you do? At least a full refund was given promptly, and the 7 bucks pales in comparison to how much I’ve saved using Klook.

Hong Kong travel activities startup Klook ready to take on Europe

Platform faces off with fellow SoftBank-backed venture GetYourGuide

TOKYO/SINGAPORE -- Hong Kong-based travel experience booking platform Klook says it will expand its coverage to match German rival GetYourGuide in every major European city by the end of this year.

Klook's focus on Europe will intensify competition between the two travel startups that are each valued at more than $1 billion, and are both backed by SoftBank Group 's Vision Fund.
