Lonavala is a beautiful hill station in Pune, Maharashtra. Lonavala is derived from two separate words - Len and Avali, where Len refers to resting place made out of a piece of stone and Avali in Prakrit means series. Hence, Lonavala means a place which is surrounded by an array of Len. Lonavala is located at a distance of 64 kms from the city of Pune and 96 kms from Mumbai city. The nearest airports to Lonavala are Lohegaon Airport, Pune (PNQ) and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai (BOM) while the nearest railway station is Lonavala Railway Station (LNL).
