These Chicago dinner cruises on Lake Michigan are operated by top dinner cruise lines including Spirit of Chicago Dinner Cruise and Odyssey dinner cruise Chicago .
As soon as you step aboard, the Captain and crew will greet you and the ship’s photographer will record the moment. When you reach the deck, you are greeted by your host and escorted to a private table. Now the waiting staff will introduce themselves and the experience begins.
There are three climate-controlled dining decks featuring a unique setting with understated Art Deco accents, which is reminiscent of the classic ocean liners. One of the highlights is visiting Captain’s bridge, which is open to all passengers throughout most of the cruise.
The menu is truly creative and appetizing consisting of seasonal hors d’oeuvres, appetizers, entrees and desserts and is freshly prepared on-board daily. The wine list is absolutely impressive and the entire experience is enhanced further by the presence of soft piano music and spacious dance floors with live music provided by a five-piece band.

“Odyssey Navy Pier Dinner Cruise” Review of Odyssey Cruises
On November 12 my wife and I planned an overnight getaway in downtown Chicago to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. A dinner cruise on Lake Michigan was part of our plans. originally we booked our cruise with the Mystic Blue Cruise but, a few days before our getaway, the cruise line called and told us that dinner cruise was canceled and we were being upgrade to their Odyssey cruise. I thought "good for us!" Anyone downtown on Saturday the 12th probably remembers the amazing winds we were having, especially if you walked from the entrance of Navy Pier to the Odyssey cruise boat area. We thought there might even be a change the cruise would be delayed or even canceled but it was not. And, at 7:00 that evening we left the dock and headed out. The Odyssey is a very nice cruise boat with three decks available for dinners, parties, etc. Our dinner was being served in the second deck. Really pretty decor, big windows for viewing, and a terrific three piece band for entertainment and dancing. Those however were the good things about the cruise. On this dinner cruise you were given a menu with three courses to select from. Not very good choices. However, for an additional $12.00 you could upgrade to a couple better entrees'. Since, like most restaurants, you could order when you wanted to, we waited until about 8:00 to place our orders. Then, about 8:30, our wait staff brought us nice and tasty ice cream specialties and wished us a happy anniversary. We thought this was strange since we didn't have our dinner yet. About 8:45 I called our waiter over and asked why our dinner was being delayed. Well, as it turned out, it was not even given to the kitchen to prepare. A foul up on their part. Naturally, they apologized and offered to cover the cost of another beer for me (a $6.00 cost by the way). When the food arrived my wife's was barely warm and sent it back to be heated better. Mine was mediocre at best. Afterwards, dessert was a table with a chocolate fountain and varies fruits and pastries to choose from. Once again, medicre at best. The cost of the Odyssey dinner cruise is $160.00 per person with taxes and fees. For that much one could have a wonderful meal at a top Chicago restaurant and order whatever you want to. Maybe if they didn't have so many crew members (must have seen 20 or more), they could drop the cost down. The cruise itself was a bust! Due to the wind conditions, the captain of the ship only went out about a mile and kept going back and forth about a mile or so in each direction. But, the Chicago skyline is really nice so that made up for it somewhat. Personally, it will be a long time before we book another Odyssey cruise. This turned to be more than half the cost of our entire getaway. Disappointing I must say.

I have been on the Odyssey many times for an evening cruise and had a lovely time. I was not sure what to expect for a lunch cruise. I found the food, service and entertainment to be very high quality. The daytime cruise is also a great option for the chillier months in Chicago as deck time is much warmer. I would recommend the Odyssey to friends in the Chicago area as well as out of town guests.
I have just booked the Dinnner Cruise for my upcoming trip to Chicago as it was my outstanding memory from our previous trip. It is absolutely the best way to see the windy city. A warm welcome awaits you atop the steps onto the ship and you'll be delighted to see the immaculately dressed tables and immediate service for both drinks and food. Although it was winter the smoothness of the cruise was remarkable. The ambience was of relaxed elegance, from the appearance of the waiters and servers, to the band, the dance floor, not to mention the fabulous chocolate fountain and hand decorated desserts. I can highly recommend this attraction without reservation, it will lighten your purse; it cost us about $130 a head but this was all-inclusive as we did not have alcohol, obviously if you do you will have a bar bill. There was so much to see both on and from the ship; we were able to see and chat to the captain, go up on deck and see the fabulous skyline, dance to the excellent band and when it was time to go home we were already planning our next trip. Treat yourself or whoever you're bringing with you; you won't regret it.
Having lived in Chicago for a long time I was really excited to finally take a dinner cruise on the Odyssey with my husband for our anniversary. Perhaps my expecations were too high, but it definately didn't live up to the hype. The service and food were excellent! There is no rush so you simpy order your next course when you're ready. The food options were great and our server, Caesar, was fantastic! He was professional, polite, and funny. The band was very talented even if some of their music wasn't really my taste. We were seated right next to the dance floor which wasn't a good option for us because we are not dancers and the music was really loud. Luckilly, the cruise wan't full so after we ate we switched to an empty table more out of the way of traffic. The dessert buffet with chocolate fountain was a pleasant surprise as I didn't see that on the website in advance. The atmosphere was "romantic" as it was mostly couples or small groups. There were many anniversary & birthday celebrations. I had always thought that the Odyssey was a formal affair, and most people were dressed up, but there were many people in jeans and other casual apparal. My favorite part was the beautiful view of the city. There are quite a few things that I would have liked to have known in advance and hopefully others will find helpful. 1) We were told as we were being seated that the only way to get a window seat was to request one at the time you make the reservation. The person who took my reservation never told me this so we arrived early thinking we'd get a good seat. 2) They take your photo as you're getting on the boat, but you can only buy the photo as a package which consists of a 5x7, wallets, etc. It would be better if they had the option to just purchase one picture 3) When making our reservation we were told that if we purchased drink tickets in advance we would save 50% off beer & wine. What they didn't tell us that it is only house wine (which wasn't very good) and Miller Lite and Bud Light. Additonally, they stop serving alcohol when the boat docks, but they never announced that they were going to stop serving. 4) If you're not a dancer, there's not much to do. The night we went was cold so we couldn't spend much time on the observation deck and there isn't really any place to "hang around" except at your assigned table. 5) The boat docks at 10:30, but they don't let you off until 11:00. We are not dancers and couldn't purchase more drinks so we really felt like we were just stuck there. 5) The "cruise" is really more of a loop in front of Navy Pier. You don't go out very far and just go back & forth in front of the same stretch of skyline for the whole 3 hours, turning around about every 20 minutes. Ultimately it's an experience I'm glad to finally have tried, but I'm REALLY happy I purchased the cruise on Groupon and didn't pay the full rate!
I'm sorry to hear that one person (maybe two in the same letter), didn't enjoy the cruise. I went with 5 others, mixed company friends, and we had a wonderful time. The waitstaff is incredible, efficient, polite and happy. We had a great time. Two of us don't dance, but we enjoyed watching the others and the only thing I would change is to have a little less loud music and throw in some extra Frankl Sinatra or the like. All 6 of us had a great time and I'd do it all over again with friends.

Region Russia Rivers
Local Time 2024-05-26 12:33
Kiev is a Dnieper River cruise port and city in Ukraine, located on the river's right bank. The river port is located in the city's Podil neighborhood. The port has own fleet of vessels and operates as a state-owned shipping company (Kyiv River Port / Kiev River Port).
In the 19th century, steamships started shipping trade operations along River Dnieper. During that time were constructed several quays (along the river's right bank) that serve as docking / ship berthing locations.
The port's Dnieper River cruising season runs April through October. Several local (privately-owned) shipping operators offer daily cruise tours in Kiev.
Following the USSR's dissolution in 1991, the port was privatized (1996) from the state-owned Ukrrichflot.
Kiev cruise terminal
Port Kiev has over 20 river ship mooring points (each equipped with stairways). All these facilities are reserved exclusively for passenger and cruise vessels.
The Kiev port's passenger terminal was built during the USSR / Soviet Union era (in the period 1953-1961). The cruise terminal building is located on Poshtova Square.

Ukrainian sea drones reportedly sank another Russian warship in the Black Sea on Tuesday, the latest in a series of strikes that has crippled Moscow’s naval capability and limited its operations with the war now in its third year .
Successful Ukrainian drone and missile strikes have provided a major morale boost for Kyiv at a time when its undermanned and under-gunned forces are facing Russian attacks along the more than 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front line.
Challenging Russia’s naval superiority also has helped create more favorable conditions for Ukrainian grain exports and other shipments from the country’s Black Sea ports.
Here’s a look at recent Ukrainian attacks against Russian naval assets and their consequences.
RELENTLESS STRIKES
In the latest reported strike, Ukrainian naval drones attacked the Sergei Kotov patrol ship near the Kerch Strait, which links the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, according to the Ukraine’s military intelligence agency. The strike, which couldn’t be independently verified, killed seven members of the Russian crew and injured six others, while 52 were rescued, the agency said.
The Russian Defense Ministry didn’t comment on the claim, but some Russian military bloggers confirmed the ship’s loss and said its crew had been rescued.
The strike, if verified, would mark the latest successful use of Ukraine’s domestically produced Magura drones , the agile uncrewed boats that have become the Russian navy’s nemesis. Just last month, drones sank Russia’s Caesar Kunikov amphibious landing ship and Ivanovets missile corvette . The Russian military hasn’t acknowledged those losses, either, but they have been reported by Russian military bloggers and some media.
In another attack in late December, Ukraine said it destroyed the Novocherkassk landing vessel in Crimea’s port of Feodosia with long-range cruise missiles. The Russian Defense Ministry said the ship was damaged in the attack, but Russian war bloggers said it was lost.
The Ukrainian military also has launched a series of persistent cruise missile and drone strikes on Russian radar facilities, air defense assets and air bases in Crimea, a region of Ukraine that Russia annexed in 2014 . Increasing the pain for Moscow, Ukrainian troops also downed two Russian early warning and control aircraft over the Sea of Azov in January and February, depriving the Russian military of some of its most precious intelligence-gathering assets.
The strikes followed other highly efficient Ukrainian attacks earlier in the war, including the April 2022 sinking of the Black Sea fleet’s flagship missile cruiser, the Moskva, and a missile strike last September on the fleet’s headquarters in the port of Sevastopol.
UKRAINE’S DEADLY WEAPONS
The smart use of remote-controlled drone boats laden with explosives has allowed Ukraine to tip the scales of naval warfare in its favor despite Russia’s massive superiority in firepower. The Magura drones are equipped with advanced GPS and cameras, and have a low radar signature that makes them hard to detect.
Its latest version, the Magura V5, is 5.5 meters (18 feet) long, weighs up to 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds) and has a range of up to 800 kilometers (500 miles), 60 hours of battery life, and a 200-kilogram (440-pound) payload, according to Ukrainian authorities. It also beams live video to operators.
Ukraine also has relied on cruise missiles provided by the U.K. and France for striking Russian assets in Crimea. The missiles — produced jointly by Britain and France and called Storm Shadow by the U.K. and SCALP-EG by France — are launched from Ukraine’s Soviet-era warplanes and have a range of more than 250 kilometers (155 miles).
Western officials praise the efficiency of the Ukrainian attacks, noting that Kyiv has smartly used its limited resources to defeat far stronger Russian forces and destroy about 20% of the Black Sea fleet, effectively blunting Moscow’s naval dominance.
ENDING THE RUSSIAN BLOCKADE
The successful strikes on Russian naval assets have allowed Ukraine to increase its food and other Black Sea exports despite Russia’s withdrawal last summer from a deal that guaranteed safe shipment of Ukrainian grain.
Moscow’s pullback from the deal raised the possibility of Russian attacks on ships carrying Ukrainian grain and other products, posing a threat to the Ukrainian economy and global food security.
But the steady series of successful Ukrainian attacks on Russian warships and other military assets in the area have put Russia’s fleet on the defensive, limiting its offensive capability.
HOW DID RUSSIA REACT?
Although the Russian Defense Ministry has mostly kept quiet about the Ukrainian drone and missile attacks on its naval assets, Russian military bloggers and commentators have harshly criticized the military brass for its slow and sloppy response to the threat.
The strikes have forced the Russian navy to take precautions that have affected its operations, including relocating some of its ships from ports in Crimea farther east to Novorossiysk to better protect them.
Despite the damage from Ukrainian attacks, the Black Sea fleet remains a powerful force and is still capable of launching long-range cruise missile strikes at Ukraine. Russian air bases in Crimea also have remained operational, hosting warplanes that have continued flying combat sorties to support its ground operations in the region.
Russian military bloggers reported that the head of the Black Sea fleet, Adm. Viktor Sokolov, was dismissed last month following the latest losses of warships. There was no official confirmation of his ouster.

Russian Black Sea Fleet Has One 'Loser' Missile Ship Left in Crimea: Kyiv
Russia's military has pulled almost all of its combat vessels able to fire cruise missiles from Crimea, according to Ukraine's navy, as Kyiv repeatedly hits Russia's Black Sea fleet presence close to the coastline of the war-torn country.
"Most of the combat units, if you take the carriers of cruise missiles, actually all relocated, except for one," Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk said on Saturday, according to Ukrainian media.
Russia's Cyclone warship remains in Crimea, Pletenchuk said, describing the vessel as a "loser" that "still has not launched a single missile."
Newsweek has reached out to the Russian Defense Ministry for comment via email.
Ukraine's navy is small, but Kyiv has been inventive in its use of missiles and naval drones against Moscow's Black Sea Fleet, partially based in Crimea. Russia's military has been ill-equipped to fend off frequent attacks, sustaining heavy losses in sharp contrast to the relative success it has had in gaining territory on land.
The Cyclone, or Tsiklon, is a Karakurt -class corvette that joined the Black Sea Fleet in July 2023, according to Russian state media. It can fire Kalibr cruise missiles, and was built in the Crimean city of Kerch, the state-run Tass news agency reported.
Ukrainian officials estimate that Russia has now lost up to a third of its Black Sea Fleet at Kyiv's hands.
Earlier this month, Ukraine said it had taken out several Russian vessels based around Crimea. Moscow has controlled the Crimean Peninsula for a decade—Kyiv has vowed to reclaim the territory.
Ukraine said on March 24 that it had successfully hit two of Russia's large landing ships, the Yamal and the Azov , in strikes on the Crimean port city of Sevastopol. Kyiv later said it had also destroyed the Konstantin Olshansky landing ship and a key reconnaissance vessel, the Ivan Khurs .
Russia's amphibious vessels, like the Yamal and Azov , are one of Ukraine's many targets in the Black Sea. Kyiv has destroyed a Russian submarine, the Rostov-on-Don , and has taken out other enemy vessels since the start of the year, such as a patrol ship and a missile-armed corvette.
Shortly after the outbreak of all-out war in Ukraine, Kyiv struck the Black Sea fleet flagship, the Moskva , in a strike attributed to domestically built Neptune anti-ship missiles.

Ukraine has succeeded in jeopardizing Russia's operations in the northwestern Black Sea and the frequent drone and missile strikes have forced Moscow to relocate some of its naval assets in the region further away from Ukraine's reach, including to its Novorossiysk base.
Russia is still dominant across much of the Black Sea, even if it is restrained in the northwestern corner closest to Ukraine because of attacks by Kyiv's forces, retired Ukrainian Navy Captain Andrii Ryzhenko told Newsweek in early March.
Reports have also suggested the Kremlin is planning a new military base at the port of Ochamchire in Abkhazia , a breakaway region of Georgia. This would put Russian Black Sea assets even further from Ukraine's coastline.
The U.K. government said earlier this month that Russia had likely restricted most of its operations to the eastern Black Sea.
Moscow has also announced it will beef up the protection around its fleet with large-caliber machine guns to shoot at incoming naval drones before they strike Russian vessels.
