Ultimate Austin Brewery Guide

We’ve got lots of craft breweries! Here’s an Austin brewery guide to help you plan your visit.

Austin is very blessed to have an abundance of craft beer options, and it has grown incredibly since I first wrote about my love of craft beer in 2012 . Back then, it was easy to have a goal of visiting all the breweries. Now, I consistently have at least 10 breweries to visit because new breweries are always opening. It’s a great problem to have. This list has 62 Austin brewery locations!

Must-Visit Breweries in Austin

Ok, now you’re thinking, 62 breweries?! I only need one or two recommendations! Let me narrow it down for you with a quick list.

• Jester King Brewery – Known for its beautiful acres of land and its farmhouse and barrel-aged ales. GOAT? Yes, they have goats!
• Austin Beerworks – Known for its artistic cans and fun beers
• Pinthouse – If you love IPAs and pizza. They have four locations!
• Meanwhile Brewing – Hill Country vibes in the city and has the best selection of food trucks
• Austin Beer Garden Brewing (AGBG) – They won best brewpub three years in a row at the Great American Beer Festival along with multiple awards for their beers
• Zilker Brewing Company – I’m consistently impressed with the number of beers they release. IPA lovers should try Heavenly Daze.

Austin Brewery Crawls

You can join a brewery tour company for your beer shindig, but to be entirely in control of where we go, when we go, etc., and make it as affordable as possible, I suggest renting a bus or finding a designated driver. You can easily hop to a few breweries to try out their beers.

In the brew-borhood of North Austin , you’ll find five breweries in a two-mile radius. You could walk to these.

In the Hill Country , Jester King Brewery, Beerburg Brewing, and Last Stand Brewing Company are all on Fitzhugh Road and very close to each other.

In South Austin , you’ll find proximity between Meanwhile Brewing, Independence Brewing Co, and Pinthouse. Across I-35, St. Elmo Brewing Company, (512) Brewing Company, and Vacancy Brewing are within walking distance.

I also recommend the Red Line Brewery Tour by taking the Capital MetroRail to visit different areas. There are six rail stops that will get you to eight breweries. The stops are usually two or three blocks away. Here’s the list:

• Kramer Station : Circle Brewing Company and Hopsquad Brewing Co
• Crestview Station : Black Star Co-op Pub & Brewery
• Highland Station : The Brewtorium Brewery & Kitchen
• MLK Station : Oddwood Ales
• Plaza Saltillo Station : Zilker Brewing Company and Lazarus Brewing
• Downtown Station : Central District Brewing

Below, the breweries are divided by area, and at the bottom of this post is a handy map of all the Austin breweries. Having a food option is important for breweries and I’ve noted if a brewery has a permanent food truck or an in-house kitchen.

I’ve included an * for my favorites/recommendations in each area.

North Austin Breweries

I’m slightly biased because the North Austin Breweries are the closest to where I live – this is my favorite area for a brewery crawl. These breweries also have solid food trucks!

Central/Downtown Austin Breweries

This is my second favorite area to visit for breweries. Zilker Brewing Company and Lazarus Brewing Co. are within walking distance from each other on East 6th and both have solid beers.

Hill Country Breweries

This area on West 290 is popping up with breweries like wildfire! These breweries are located in Dripping Springs, Driftwood, and Cedar Valley. With plenty of land out here, there’s a lot of room to build a brewery setup and create a destination for guests to enjoy the Hill Country. You’ll find many breweries on Fitzhugh Road.

• Unfortunately this tour is not suitable for those that require wheelchair access.
• This is a Victorian Tower Brewery and, as such, customers will need to be able to accommodate 13 steps during the tour.
• This is a working brewery so be aware of your surroundings at all times and your personal safety.
• Take care when stepping into, around and out of the brewery.
• The staircase in the brewhouse is narrow and steep, please take extra care when manoeuvring up and down.
• Please be aware of any trip hazards or possible slips in the brewing area.
• Please do not attempt to lift any bags of brewing ingredients.
• The ceiling in the malt room is very low, please take care not to bang your head.
• Please be aware this is a small working brewery that may have confined spaces.
• The location of the emergency exit and fire evacuation procedure. The assembly point location is the Old Bulls Head car park.

Circle Brewing Co. presents Red Line Brewery Tour

During this event, guests can train hop with the Capital Metro Red Line to four local breweries. The breweries include Circle Brewing Company at Kramer Station; Black Star Co-op Pub & Brewery at Crestview Station; The Brewtorium Brewery & Kitchen at Highland; and Zilker Brewing Company at Plaza Saltillo. 

Guests can grab an official Red Line Brewery Tour punch card, buy (and drink) a beer at each brewery to receive a stamp for that brewery on their punch card, and turn in their completed punch card at the last brewery to receive a limited edition, custom enamel camp mug.

During this event, guests can train hop with the Capital Metro Red Line to four local breweries. FC Barcelona return to the United States for preseason tour

The FC Barcelona men’s first team will repeat the last season’s destination and travel once again to the United States for their preseason tour, BARÇA ON TOUR: US 2023, in which they will play a total of four matches, all against European opposition. The first two games will be played in California; 22 July against Juventus in Santa Clara, San Francisco Bay Area, and on 26 July against Arsenal FC. The last two games will take place in Dallas Texas, for the clash with Real Madrid on 29 July and in Las Vegas where the tour will conclude with a game against AC Milan.  

The US Summer Tour 2022 saw the Barça play on the East Coast with games in Miami and New York – as well as games in Las Vegas and Dallas – cities which hosted the majority of the Club’s institutional and social activities. This year the geographical emphasis has shifted to the West Coast where the majority of the Club’s activities will take place and where they will play three of their four scheduled games.  

The blaugranes’ debut on the tour will come on 22 July against Juventus in the Levis Stadium, Santa Clara in San Francisco, home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. It will be the third time that Barça have played at the venue which has room for 68,000 fans following matches against Manchester United in 2015 and AC Milan in 2018. The most recent encounter between Barça and Juventus came in a friendly last season on tour, the game ended in a 2-2 draw.  

The other games in California will come against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side on 26 July in the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles, a venue opened in 2020 with a capacity of 70,000 and the ground where the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams of the NFL play their home matches. The fixture between the two sides will be their first in seven seasons, the last meeting having come in the last sixteen of the UEFA Champions League in 2016 in which Barça won 2-0 in London and 3-1 at Spotify Camp Nou. The game will also be the first on American soil between the two clubs.  

Another Clásico in Arlington, Texas  

The summer tour this year will also include one of the most awaited matches for the fans, the Clásico, the third meeting between Barça and Real Madrid in the USA. He game will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas which has a capacity of 80,000 and is home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. The venue is one that Barça have visited twice previously; in 2011 against Manchester United and in 2018 against AS Roma. In their two previous games against Real Madrid in the US, Barça have come out on top both times: winning 3-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in 2017 and 1-0 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in 2022.  

The Allegiant Stadium, which holds 65,000 fans, will be the venue for the final game of the tour for Xavi Hernández’s men against AC Milan, the third game on the west coast. The two teams have met on two previous occasions on US soil with a 2-0 win for Barça in 2003 in Washington and a 1-0 win for the Italians in 2018 in Santa Clara.

These four games during BARÇA ON TOUR: US 2023 are part of the Soccer Champions Tour, a tournament put together by Sixth Street in collaboration with Legends and AEG, and in which, aside from Barça and their four opponents on the tour, Manchester United will also be participating.  

The USA, a popular destination for blaugrana preseason  

This summer’s tour will be the 14 th in FC Barcelona history to the USA (the first in 1937 was key in the Club’s survival), a country that has become a popular destination in recent years with tours taking place in 2011, 2015, 2017, 2018, the latter being a joint tour with the women’s team, as well as 2019 and 2022.  

In fact, the North American market in a key priority for the globalisation and expansion the Barça brand. Football is undergoing a great period of growth in the USA that trend will hopefully continue with the next World Cup in 2026 taking place on North American soil. Furthermore, FC Barcelona opened a US office in New York in 2016 and continues its efforts to build a greater connection with its existing fans and win more followers and reach agreements with local sponsors to help develop even further the country’s footballing ecosystem.

Meet Victoria

Victoria Matthews is an up-and-coming singer songwriter and nationally ranked golfer from the suburbs of Washington, DC. Victoria began playing golf at 6 years old and competed at 7 in her first World Championships. Victoria started playing piano and guitar and writing music when she was 8. 

Music & Dance

Victoria Matthews is a pop singer songwriter. She has co-written songs with Aron Forbes and Maize Olinger and recorded in the Los Angeles studios of Tim Anderson/Aron Forbes. From July 2017 – July 2019, Victoria was managed by Chino Maurice, former Musical Director for Beyonce. Beginning Fall 2019, Victoria will sing in Washington, D.C.’s The National Cathedral School Chorale with performances at The Washington National Cathedral as Class of 2023.
