How to uninstall or disable safari extensions on mac.

Don't want to use a Safari extension anymore? Here's how you can uninstall and remove the extension from your Mac!

Safari extensions add additional functionality to the browser. They function like mini-apps, and on the Mac, they are installed and behave as apps themselves. If you don't want to use a Safari extension anymore, here's how to uninstall it.

Mac users who are using Safari 12.0 or higher (running macOS Mojave or newer) will see extensions show up as apps. In fact, the older Safari extension file isn't supported anymore .

Just like the process of installing Safari extensions, deleting them is also convoluted. Safari extensions are downloaded as individual apps. This means that to remove an extension, you have to delete the app that comes with it (after first disabling it).

You can manage Safari extensions from the browser's Preferences menu. Click the "Safari" button from the menu bar and select the "Preferences" button.

From here, go to the "Extensions" tab. You'll now see a list of extensions in the left sidebar. To disable an extension, click the checkmark button next to it.

Some extensions have multiple sub-extensions, so you'll have to uncheck them all.

The extension will now disappear from the extension bar.

You can now delete the extension. From the extension information section, click the "Uninstall" button.

You'll now see a pop-up message that reads that the extension is part of the app and that to uninstall the extension, you'll have to remove the app itself. Here, click the "Show in Finder" button.

This will open the Finder with the app selected. Right-click the app and choose the "Move to Bin" (or "Move to Trash") button.

Enter your Mac's username and password and then click the "OK" button.

The extension will now be deleted. If you see the pop-up message that reads that the app wasn't deleted because it was in use, you'll have to go back to Safari's Preferences menu and make sure that the extension is disabled. Again, ensure that all sub-extensions are also disabled.

Once the extension is deleted (moved to the trash), you'll see that it disappears from the Safari extension bar and from Safari Preferences.

A lot of the time, you'll need to delve into the separate app to use it fully, but the Safari extension gives you the ability to generate secure passwords, quickly fill in forms, or add notes, all directly from your browser. It's a real game changer for security and privacy concerns.

Easy Coupon Codes: Honey

Easy to browse.

Most coupons are for the U.S. only.

Online, you can find thousands of coupon codes and offers, but it's likely that you forget to look them up until you've already ordered something. At the touch of a button, you can open Honey to the side of Safari, and check out the coupons available to you.

The extension offers up plenty of popular retailers such as Macy's, Bloomingdale's, eBay, and Sears. Just tap on the name of the retailer, and you can look up coupons, as well as details on how long ago they worked correctly. Honey also has a reward scheme for extra bonuses. 

Link Saving: Pocket

Great for storing links for later reference.

You need to sign up first.

How often do you find yourself looking at a great long-form article and realizing you don't have the time to read it right now? With Pocket, you just need to click the "Save to Pocket" button, and the link saves to your account so you can easily consult it later on. It works across multiple devices and you can tag and label articles so that everything is neatly organized. 

Ad blocker: Adblock Plus

Easy to set up.

Settings can be a little tricky.

No one likes obtrusive ads when trying to read an interesting article online. Adblock Plus makes it simple to block ads and tracking ads that bug you, while "safelisting" websites that you want to see all the ads for. Simply go to a website, tap the translate button, and Translate converts everything to English via Google Translate or Bing Translate. It takes a moment or two but you can see it being converted before your eyes which is neat. Translations are reasonably accurate too.

One of the handiest types of software in anyone’s quiver is the browser extension: those cool little applets that let your browser do what you want it to do. And one of the nicest things about iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 is that you can now add extensions to the Safari browser. Even though this is a new feature that launched with the latest iOS version, there are already a number of useful extensions available for you to add.

What follows is a rundown on how to add extensions to your Safari app — while we’ve illustrated the process using an iPhone, you can follow the same basic directions with an iPad. We’ve also included a sampling of some extensions you can try.

How to add extensions

• Tap on the Settings app.
• Scroll down to and select Safari > Extensions.
• Any extensions that you’ve already installed will be listed here. Tap on “More Extensions” if you’d like to see what’s available in the App Store. (You can also simply go to the App Store and search on “Safari Extensions.”)

• Once you’ve installed your first extension, you’ll see a little “puzzle piece” icon on the left side of Safari’s address bar. Tap that, and the menu that pops up will include your current extensions plus a “Manage Extensions” selection, which lets you toggle your extensions on and off.

Some extensions to try

This is a small sampling of some of the extensions that you can now access via the App Store. While there are not many extensions yet available (compared to the number of extensions for, say, Chrome), it’s a pretty safe bet that there will be lots more to come over the next few months.

Amplosion ($2.99)

AMP, which is short for “Accelerated Mobile Pages,” is a web format created by Google to optimize search results for mobile browsers. However, if you’d rather not have Google tweaking the webpages you upload, you can use Amplosion to redirect the AMP links that show up in search results into normal mobile links.

Noir ($2.99)

When you’re browsing at night and you’ve set your iPhone or iPad to dark mode, you will often hit a website that is bright enough to make your eyes water. Noir allows you to set a dark mode for all the websites you visit.

1Password (subscription needed)

1Password is a well-known and respected password manager . If you’re a 1Password user, there’s no question that you’re going to want to add this one to your mobile Safari app.

Super Agent for Safari (free)

This handy extension automatically fills out a website’s cookie consent forms based on your preferences, which can save you a lot of time and irritation.

Web Inspector (free)

Something for developers: an app that lets you inspect the HTML coding of a website, modify it, debug it, and perform other essential tasks.

Recommendation for two Safari Extensions (or other mods for Safari)

As SAFT seems to be long dead there are two functions I use that I'm looking to get recommendations on replacements. Unfortunately I'm not seeing things like this in the Safari Extensions, so I'm hoping that people can recommend something.

A) *RELIABLY* preserve all of the tabs/windows across crashes/quits/etc. SAFT did this quite well. Is there another 3rd party product that will do this?

Any one have any suggestions for either of these two things?

I said *reliably*.  :P  I've actually seen cases where Safari Lion doesn't reopen the previous windows/tabs.

Looks like SafariStand used to save window/tab state, but I've found another program: Sessions, which claims to. I'll try both on a test machine later this week.

if it fails to reopen the tabs that's easily solved by History > Reopen all windows from last session.

I don't do as much surfing on my Lion machines, (For the time being, the main machine must stay Rosetta-friendly, so Lion will have to wait.) but I have noticed that (IIRC) if the close process is interrupted (eg, dialog box being thrown up), then safari on lion "forgets" the windows it has already closed and only "remembers" the remaining windows/tabs. I'll have to test this reopen from last session.

Any feedback on how well it responds to crashes? Do tabs/windows get recorded even if program does not exit gracefully? I just tried a Force Quit on Lion Safari (arguably not exactly the same thing as a crash of the app) and it failed to remember the open windows.

So this raises the question as when the open win/tab info gets written. Most likely at a graceful exit (and other events such as a system sleep. Or maybe a snapshot is taken at intervals? I don't know). And if something interrupts the app before it has a chance to write out the info, then it is lost. (Again: Saft did a very good job at this and only might loose the most recent item, but retains everything else) 

I've experienced a few crashes and occasionally it has been unable to recover. More often than that, however, it will recover to sometime prior to the crash. I haven't figured out any specific pattern yet but that command sequence is better than nothing. I prefer the occasional loss of tabs to running an extension all the time since I prefer to limit my use of extensions as much as possible. Before this was all added in to Safari I used Safari Restore: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/34144/safarirestore  apologies for not mentioning it before but I had forgotten the name. I used one other extension that behaved similarly but I can't remember the name, either. One or the other of these two extensions wasn't working so well with the latest Safari in Lion. But as I wrote, the limited usefulness of it (because it's only necessary perhaps a few times per week or month) compared to running sans extension and relying on the inbuilt functionality means I haven't given it much thought since Safari 5.1 (well I was using webkit) and now certainly in 5.2

But when it comes to accessing the bookmarks, the disorganized folder makes it tough to find the links . These useful extensions can help you get to the sites you want quickly and easily.

1. Raindrop.io

Raindrop.io is a vibrant bookmark manager that stores your bookmarks online. What this means is that your bookmarks sync across the devices without any limitations put by the browser-controlled ecosystem. You can save any webpage, organize them in different collections, and add tags. It’s also possible to mark your favorites, nest folder, sort bookmarks by date, name, or site.

You can search bookmarks by details, URL, tag, type, date, or cached content. When you have many tabs open, click Tabs located in the bottom-left corner of a window. The saved tabs will have a tag with the date. The Pro version of Raindrop.io automatically creates a cached copy of your bookmarks. So even if a link is dead, you can still access them on the site.

2. G App Launcher

G App Launcher is the extension to access Google sites and services. At first thought, you might think, why would anyone need this add-on when many Google apps are a click or press away. It gives you access to some rare Google services you might not have heard of, but might come helpful in many situations.

For example, you can create a shortcut of Google Trends, Scholar, Jobs on Google, Opinion Rewards, Play Academy, Flights, Advanced Search, Google Design, Research, and much more. In addition, you can create custom shortcuts for any websites.

Click the Settings button to see the list of available shortcuts on the left, and to the right is the panel for your shortcuts. Now drag-and-drop the bookmarks from left panel to the right. You can even sort your selection via the Sort button.

3. GoodLinks

GoodLinks is a read-it later and bookmarking app. While it offers functionality similar to Raindrop.io, the app uses Cloudkit to sync articles across your Apple devices. It extracts the article text and offers you different customization options to provide a wonderful reading experience.

To get started, click the extension icon, add a tag or summary, then click Add . When you open the app, you’ll see an organized view of your saved pages. You can categorize pages into Unread, Starred, Untagged, and Read. GoodLinks has extensive support of Siri Shortcuts, URL scheme, and beautiful widgets to quickly access your article list.

Tackle Too Many Tabs

While tabs have become an integral part of how people navigate the web, they continue to represent as simple, ordered lists of pages with limited contextual cues and understanding of high-level tasks. If you're looking for a Safari tab manager, these extensions can help you organize tabs, prevent tab clutter, and cut distractions.

1. Safari Tab Groups

Most of us switch between several tabs during an average browsing session, and keeping them organized is not easy. The Safari Tab Groups feature lets you bundle relevant tabs together and switch between them whenever necessary. You can label Tab Groups with custom names to identify them, and use them in various ways.

For example, you can tab group per topic (Finance, Health), project (Clients, Freelancing), or type. To get started, follow our guide on using Safari tabs for Mac . Any tab group you create sync across your Apple devices, allow some degree of organization to prevent clutter, and personalization. Depending upon your use case and goal for browsing, there are differences between bookmarks and tab groups .

2. Tab Space

Imagine you’re doing research for a project. After browsing through a dozen or more links, you got some great information you want to reference later on. Since you haven’t taken any action, you can save these tabs in a separate session. That’s the primary role of the Tab Space extension.

It provides an intuitive workspace to see your saved sessions with the date and time stamps. The colorful buttons at the top-right open your tabs in bulk and automatically remove them from the session list. Or, you can export the tabs as Text, HTML, Markdown, and as a backup file.

While saving tabs, you can set options to ignore pinned, duplicate, or include tabs from all windows. For each session, you can edit tab titles, tag, or merge tabs with the earlier session. The built-in shortcuts and context menu integration further simplify the interaction with browser tabs. For example, press Ctrl +F or Ctrl + C to open your tabs in Firefox or Chrome.

Tabz is a useful utility that aggregate tabs from Safari and Chrome in a simple list that you can filter and navigate quickly. If you use multiple browsers with a specific purpose, say Chrome for work and Safari for personal use, then this add-on can save time and mental energy. The add-on merge tabs from the same domain, even if the web pages are open in different browsers.

The add-on goes one step ahead to help you focus on the work. To do this, add a domain ( More > Allowed During Focus ) to the list and click Start Focus Session . If you try to open a website not included in the list, it will automatically close during the focus period. Go to Preferences to include more browsers like Brave, Microsoft Edge, and Safari Technology Preview.

Safari Web Extension

Due to changes by Apple, Safari limits web extension use to only those obtained through Mac App Store downloads . As of the 2021-03-11 Release , users will not be able to use a Bitwarden Safari extension obtained through a .dmg installation from bitwarden.com/download or any other non-App Store source.

If you are using a Safari version prior to 14 , you can continue using a .dmg installation, which can be downloaded from bitwarden.com/download by clicking more desktop installation options > . Keeping the .dmg outside of the Applications folder should allow you to simultaneously use both an older Safari extension and the latest desktop app.

Enable the extension

Before enabling the Safari web extension, run the desktop app at least once. In Safari:

Open the Safari menu and select Settings .

Navigate to the Extensions page.

Check the Bitwarden checkbox, and select Turn on in the confirmation dialog.

Add Safari extensions

Tap More Extensions to browse through extensions in the App Store.

When you find one you want, tap the price, or if the app is free, tap Get, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Note: Extensions you install for Safari on iPad that are also available on other platforms will appear in Safari settings on any iPhone, iPad, or Mac where you’re signed in with the same Apple ID , to make them easier to find and download.

Archea Associati was the winner of the international competition by invitation for the masterplan of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye district, the area west of Moscow with an area of ​​more than 4 million square meters in the territory of 463 hectares along the Moskva River. The project includes a multifunctional area, with various functions from residential to offices, where the square takes on the task of connecting the multiple actions that are included in the planning. The Archea studio focused on the idea of ​​public space as a relationship between activity and sociality; the goal was to give the city a place to be discovered and interpreted as a reference not only geographic but also a fulcrum for the functions contained therein. Interesting is the planimetric design where the curved lines in the center of the square interface with the angular and elegant features of the buildings. The public area that extends over the lake of 30 hectares is designed for all seasons, in order to accommodate activities to climate needs. The buildings, each with a different height from the other so as to produce a captivating skyline, appear like stones set within the square; the base is a ribbon that dialogues with the elements present in order to welcome the viewer on a boulevard with open-air theaters, commercial areas and other activities designed at different heights. The project is structured as a real green lung, an area that can be recognized as a changing and dynamic space for everyone with a podium that envelops and conveys the actions in a place designed for the sociality of the present and the future. «The projects selected on the basis of detailed discussion stand out for their innovative and unique architectural and planning solutions. This competition once again demonstrates the importance of organizing such events to create complex and modern projects for the development of the city, “said the chief architect of the city of Moscow, Sergei Kuznetsov, member of the jury.
