Willie Nelson Cancels Upcoming Tour Appearances Due to Illness

The 91-year-old singer is "expected to make a quick recovery."

preview for The Best Country Songs for Every Mood

Don't worry, country music fans. Willie Nelson has been feeling under the weather, but it sounds like the 91-year-old icon will be "On the Road Again" very soon.

A statement on his official Instagram account revealed that, due to an illness, Willie was cancelling appearances on his Outlaw Fest t0ur. The show would go on, thanks to performances by his son, Lukas Nelson, along with Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Celisse.

The statement reads, "We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor's orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week."

Willie was flooded with supportive comments from fans and well-wishers, telling the singer to "Rest up Willie, the world still needs you! ❤️"

Some fans were alarmed by the stark delivery of the message and wrote, "When it comes to someone who’s 91 years old. You're going to have to say 'he’s ok but isn’t feeling well' not 'we regret to inform you'" and "the way my heart dropped."

The announcement does not explain exactly when Willie will return to the stage, but the tour continues through the summer and into September, with stops across the country.

Jennifer Lopez cancels summer tour: 'I am completely heartsick'

Following some date cancellations and a rebranding, the singer has nixed this year's performances altogether.

Christian Holub is a writer covering comics and other geeky pop culture. He's still mad about 'Firefly' getting canceled.

Don't expect to see Jennifer Lopez on stage this summer, because the pop star has officially canceled her upcoming tour . In a statement on Friday, LiveNation said that Lopez is instead "taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends."

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," Lopez wrote in a note to fans on her official website . "Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time..."

This Is Me...Now was released in February of this year, and was as inspired by her rekindled romance with husband Ben Affleck as 2002's This Is Me...Then was by their previous relationship. The new album was accompanied by an ambitious, self-funded, cameo-filled musical film called This Is Me...Now: A Love Story .

This summer's tour was supposed to be the final piece of the new work, but it faced some struggles. Back in March, multiple late-August tour dates were canceled. This inspired speculation that the cancellations were due to low ticket sales, though sources told Entertainment Weekly at the time that it was actually the result of a "logistical issue." Then, in April, the tour was rebranded around greatest hits from across Lopez's whole career rather than focusing primarily on the latest album.

There have also been rumors swirling that the marriage between Affleck and Lopez (the inspiration behind This Is Me...Now ) was in trouble. Earlier this month, PEOPLE reported that the two have been living in separate residences and attending events like the Met Gala and The Roast of Tom Brady by themselves. However, the couple were photographed together on Thursday, May 30, as they attended events to celebrate the graduation of Affleck's daughter Violet.

When Lopez was recently asked about the state of their marriage while promoting her new Netflix film Atlas , she brushed aside the concerns . And in an interview with EW , her costar Sterling K. Brown said that Affleck helped Lopez on the movie: "Sometimes, the reactions that you got from her were because she was listening to her husband's voice."

Jennifer Lopez Cancels Summer Tour

The singer and actress said she was “heartsick and devastated” about the decision, which comes on the heels of a hit Netflix movie and persistent rumors about her marriage.

Jennifer Lopez announced on Friday that she has canceled her “This Is Me … Live” summer tour. In a message on her website she said she was “heartsick and devastated” about the decision.

“Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary,” she continued, promising her fans that they’d be “together again.”

An accompanying statement from Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, said that “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” and that tickets bought through Ticketmaster would be refunded automatically.

The tour, scheduled for arenas across the country, appeared to be struggling with ticket sales; earlier this year, a handful of dates had been canceled and several shows appeared to have a number of unsold seats, Variety reported in March.

The cancellation comes during a time when Lopez, 54, has been in the spotlight for both her work and her personal life. She currently stars in the sci-fi action thriller “Atlas,” which has been the No. 1 film on Netflix in the United States since its debut last week.

And in February, she released an expansive, ambitious project, which she had poured $20 million of her own money into. It included a studio album, “ This Is Me … Now ”; an accompanying musical film, “ This Is Me … Now: A Love Story ”; and a making-of documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which stars her husband, the actor and director Ben Affleck, 51. The pair also appeared together in an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts that debuted during this year’s Super Bowl.

Despite the recent collaborations, rumors have been swirling for weeks that their marriage is in trouble , with tabloids offering reports almost daily on the state of their union. Lopez and Affleck were famously minted as “Bennifer” when they dated from about 2002 to 2004, a period that included a brief engagement. They reunited in 2021 and married in July 2022.

A representative for Lopez did not immediately respond on Friday to questions about the tour cancellation or the reports about her marriage to Affleck.

Céline Dion cancels European tour dates ‘until I’m really ready to be back on stage’

Céline Dion has canceled all her scheduled tour dates through April 2024 as she continues treatment for a rare neurological disorder.

“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again,” the singer said  in a statement on social media. “I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100 percent. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again.

A total of 42 European dates have been canceled, including stops in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, England, Scotland and Ireland.

Earlier this year, Dion said stiff person syndrome was causing spasms that affect her ability to walk and sing.

“Unfortunately, the spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she said.

Stiff person syndrome  causes rigid muscles and painful muscle spasms, which can be triggered by such things as loud noises or light touch. The cause isn’t known, but it is thought to be an autoimmune disorder. Severe cases can cause difficulty walking and hunched posture.

Dion, who has five Grammy Awards and two Academy Awards, is the bestselling female artist of all time with hits like “I’m Alive” and “My Heart Will Go On.”

Lewis Capaldi cancels ‘touring for the foreseeable future’ — here’s why his last show mattered

After 3 weeks off, lewis capaldi made it to the glastonbury festival — but his return to the stage didn’t go as planned.

Lewis Capaldi performs during the Glastonbury Festival in Worthy Farm, Somerset, England.

By Lottie Elizabeth Johnson

Performing at the Glastonbury Festival wasn’t something singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi took lightly.

The festival is a major U.K. event that brings in big-name artists and draws roughly 200,000 people each year, according to the Somerset County Gazette . Headlining artists this year included Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, Lizzo, Yusuf/Cat Stevens and Elton John (marking John’s final U.K. show, per Reuters ).

To prepare for his big moment on the Glastonbury stage Saturday, Capaldi decided earlier this month to cancel all of his gigs for the following three weeks so he could be in good form.

“The last few months have been full on both mentally and physically,” Capaldi shared in a June 5 statement on Twitter . “I haven’t been home properly since Christmas and at the moment I’m struggling to get to grips with it all.

“I need to take a moment to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury and all the other incredible shows coming up so that I’m able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come,” the Scottish singer-songwriter continued. “I need to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow for a bit, spend some time with my family and friends and do normal life things that are an important part of me feeling better. I hope everyone understands.”

After three weeks off, Capaldi made it to Glastonbury — but his return to the stage didn’t go as planned.

Lewis Capaldi performs at Glastonbury Festival

On the Glastonbury stage, Capaldi made jokes with his fans and appeared in good spirits. But by the fifth song in his hourlong set, “his voice began to sound raspy and fractured,” reported Mark Savage, the music correspondent for BBC .

“I really apologize. You’ve all come out and my voice is really packing in,” the 26-year-old artist said during his June 24 show, per BBC . The outlet noted that it would be the first of several apologies over the course of the set.

Capaldi carried on, “but the issues were clearly agitating him and the symptoms of his Tourette’s began to become more visible,” Savage reported for BBC .

The singer opened up to his fans about his Tourette syndrome diagnosis last September.

“I’ve always had it apparently,” he said on Instagram Live, per Entertainment Tonight . “I do the shoulder twitch quite a lot and you see underneath every TikTok people are like, ‘Why is he twitching?’ Which is fine. Curiosity is fine. I get it.

“The worst thing about it is when I’m excited I get it, when I’m stressed I get it, when I’m happy I get it,” he continued. “It happens all the time.”

Capaldi’s Tourette syndrome symptoms were present at the start of his Glastonbury set but intensified as the time came to perform his hit “Someone You Loved,” USA Today reported.

So his fans sang it for him.

In a video that has more than 4 million views on TikTok, Capaldi can be seen taking a step back, at times emotional, as thousands and thousands of his fans step up to sing the song that helped catapult him to fame.

It was far from the performance Capaldi had hoped for — “Glastonbury, I’m really sorry. I’m a bit annoyed with myself,” the singer said at one point, per  BBC . But it was a significant performance that generated a lot of admiration — especially from others with Tourette syndrome who appreciated “seeing a celebrity with symptoms at a high-level event,” per USA Today . It even inspired an opinion piece in The Guardian titled, “Lewis Capaldi’s Glastonbury set displayed the best of the human spirit — and put disability centre-stage.”

“In his moment of triumph, his disabilities visible, the crowd loved him. If only society was always so accepting of difference,” Frances Ryan wrote for The Guardian .

“Imagine the difference it would make to people’s lives if disabled bodies were normalised,” Ryan wrote. “If a tic were just a twinge on the face and not a sign of failure. That’s why Capaldi’s performance on Saturday matters. As the early evening sun shone over Worthy Farm, the crowd were communicating much more to the singer than his own lyrics. They were saying: ‘We want you exactly as you are.’ In doing so, Glastonbury showed disabled people that acceptance is possible, at least for an hour.”

At the close of his set, Capaldi looked “dejected” and told his fans he’d likely be taking some more time off, BBC reported.

“You probably won’t see much of me for the rest of the year,” Capaldi said, per BBC . “But when I do come back and when I do see you, I hope you’re still up for watching us.

“I genuinely dreamt of doing this,” he told the crowd of performing at the Glastonbury Festival. “If I never get to do it again, this has been enough.”

And then he walked off the stage.

Lewis Capaldi officially announces more time off

On Tuesday, just a few days after his appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, Capaldi officially announced that he would be “taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.”

“First of all, thank you to Glastonbury for having me, for singing along when I needed it and for all the amazing messages afterwards. It really does mean the world,” Capaldi wrote in a statement on Twitter. “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future. “I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped 3 weeks away would sort me out. But the truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come.”
hi x pic.twitter.com/qK8zxTD5IS — Lewis Capaldi (@LewisCapaldi) June 27, 2023

Capaldi shared his gratitude for his family, friends and medical professionals who have been by his side offering support, and apologized to his fans who had planned to see him in concert this year.

“Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life,” he said. “I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.”

The singer-songwriter released his second album, “Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent,” in May, and has had five No. 1 hits in the U.K., per Forbes .

Classic American rock band Heart has canceled the European leg of its “Royal Flush” tour due to a medical procedure for lead vocalist Ann Wilson, the band announced.

Wilson, 73, underwent a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure” in late May, “for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks,” Heart said in a social media post.

“We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe are canceled,” Heart wrote in an Instagram post .

“Heart deeply regrets this unfortunate circumstance and hopes to return to Europe soon. Refunds will be available at point of purchase as applicable.”

The European leg of Heart’s “Royal Flush” tour was set to begin June 20 and go through July 12, performing with English rock band Squeeze.

Eiza González Defends Jennifer Lopez After Singer Cancels Tour

Actress eiza gonzález shared a message of support for jennifer lopez after she canceled a summer tour, saying the singer has received a "disturbing" level of "bullying" in recent months..

Eiza González has Jennifer Lopez 's back.

After J.Lo announced she was canceling her tour , her first in five years, the 3 Body Problem actress shared a message of support for the "Jenny From the Block" singer.

"I have to say the level of bullying that this woman has received in the last few months is so disturbing and heartbreaking," Gonzalez wrote on her Instagram Stories May 31, alongside a screenshot of a story announcing the tour cancellation. "How can you complain about someone being mean while enjoying mean about them. People are humans, make mistakes and some have personal things happening while also having to be constantly perfect in the public eye."

The 34-year-old continued, "The world is a pretty complicated place. The best thing we could be doing now is be kind. We have no clue what people are experiencing."

Lopez's tour was cancelled amid  breakup rumors about her and husband Ben Affleck   as well as ongoing criticism, especially on TikTok, of her lifestyle and recent career moves, including her performance in the new Netflix film  Atlas , which is currently the No. 1 movie on the platform's U.S. version but which has also received mostly negative reviews from movie critics.

"Why does everyone suddenly hate Jennifer Lopez?" Los Angeles Times   contributing columnist Alex Zaragoza  wrote in the newspaper's vertical De Los in April. "Arguably the biggest element of J.Lo's persona is being from the Bronx. She's 'Jenny from the block,' proclaimed in song, in interviews she's done over the last 30+ years of her career and the Super Bowl Halftime show. It's the latest reminder of her lore as a simple Bronx girl who made it big that has now called into question her authenticity."

Lopez, who has not responded to her online critics and lightly  shut down a question about the breakup rumors at an Atlas  press event , was originally set to begin a summer tour in late June that would have her performing in arenas in various cities in the United States and Canada through early August. In March, seven of the shows were canceled and on May 31, a message sent through her On The JLo fan newsletter announced the entire tour would no longer take place.

"Representatives for Live Nation announced today that the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour THIS IS ME...LIVE is canceled, citing ...'Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,'" the statement said. "For those who purchased through Ticketmaster, tickets will automatically be refunded – there is nothing further fans need to do. For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point purchase for more details."

The newsletter than featured a "special message" from Lopez. "I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," she said. "Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time..."

Jennifer Lopez Quietly Cancels 7 Concerts From Upcoming Tour

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

A month after Jennifer Lopez announced her first North American tour in five years , the singer has quietly canceled a handful of shows from the This Is Me… Now trek.

Ticket buyers of the final seven shows of the tour — in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Houston, a stretch of dates that ran from August 20 to August 31 — were notified of the cancelation recently, with no explanation as to why the shows were suddenly nixed.

Each of the shows’ Ticketmaster page was also taken down and replaced with the message, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. No action is required to obtain a refund.”

While Lopez and Live Nation haven’t commented on the matter, according to EW , a “logistical issue through the promoter” is the cause for the cancelations, and the shows could potentially be rescheduled; however, for now, they were canceled straight away in order to refund the customers.

As it stands now, Lopez’s This Is Me… Now Tour will come to an end following a two-night stand at her native New York City’s Madison Square Garden on August 16 and 17. See Lopez’s updated itinerary below, and click here for info on how to buy tickets to the concerts that are still happening.

“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event,” says a note on  Ticketmaster ’s website, when you click on information regarding the Aug. 27 concert at Amalie Arena. “No action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase.”

The dates from Aug. 20 to Aug. 31 in such other cities as Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, New Orleans and Houston were also listed as “canceled.”

Why? Your guess is as good as anyone’s. At least one media outlet, Variety, notes that  ticket sales were weak .

Phew. At least Lopez will be in the state of Florida. The 54-year-old Bronx bombshell kicks off the tour June 26 in Orlando, at the Kia Center.

On June 28 and 29, she’s got two dates in Miami at the Kaseya Center downtown. While scrolling around on Thursday morning, we  found a couple of seats online going for as low as around $30 a pop, an absolute steal.

So now’s the time to buy if you want to go see a local stop of her This Is Me … Now Tour. Shows will feature a mix of Lopez’s old and new songs, some from her latest album, “This Is Me ... Now.”

It’s her first tour in five years, and a lot has changed in her life since “It’s My Party,” which wrapped in Miami in July 2019. Fans may recall that Lopez  was engaged to Alex Rodriguez at the time  and living in Coral Gables with him and their blended family.

The former Yankee slugger traveled to many of her gigs to cheer for his lady, a la Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. We have to wonder if her current husband, Ben Affleck, will tag along for this round.

Still scratching your head as to why Lopez may have wanted to bail on shows? It is worth noting that August is a big month for the Hollywood couple. Affleck’s 52nd birthday falls on the 15th, and their second wedding anniversary in Georgia is the 20th. So perhaps the lovebirds want a little private time to celebrate, instead of her working it onstage.

Don’t look for any answers just yet. JLo has yet to comment. Her last Instagram post for the tour was two weeks ago to announce that she added the second Miami date, as it was originally only supposed to be one, “due to popular demand.”

Willie Nelson cancels Outlaw Music Festival performances for health reasons

singer cancels tour

Willie Nelson is getting some rest on doctor's orders.

The country singer , 91, canceled his appearance at the Outlaw Music Festival Tour on Friday for health reasons, a statement shared on his social media pages said.

"We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor's orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days," the statement said .

Nelson is "expected to make a quick recovery," according to the announcement.

Additional information about Nelson's health was not provided. USA TODAY has reached out to Nelson's representatives.

Nelson was scheduled to perform Friday in Georgia as part of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, which he is headlining. He was also set to perform on Saturday and Sunday in North Carolina.

"I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love," he said in February when the festival's lineup was unveiled.

Orville Peck praises Willie Nelson's allyship after releasing duet to gay cowboy anthem

The announcement shared on Nelson's social media pages said the singer is expected to join the Outlaw Music Festival Tour next week, and in the meantime, his son Lukas Nelson and guests would perform a "special set" including Nelson's classics. The tour is set to move to Virginia and New York on June 26 through June 29.

This comes after Nelson was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year. The "On the Road Again" singer performed with Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow during the induction ceremony.

"Thanks for appreciating my music," Nelson said at the time.

'Happy Birthday Willie': Keith Richards drops in on Willie Nelson's 90th birthday concert

In April, Nelson teamed up with Orville Peck for a duet cover of "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other," the 1981 song about gay cowboys. In an interview with GLAAD , Peck compared Nelson's support of the LGBTQ+ community with that of Dolly Parton.

"I think that the fact that Willie stands next to the entire LGBTQIA+ community by doing this song just shows what an amazing person he is, what a legend he is," Peck said. "It's a win for all of us because that's true allyship. Someone who's completely unafraid to be right there next to us, there's no vagueness involved."

Nelson's latest album, "The Border," debuted in May.

Fans sent Nelson their well-wishes in the comments of his Instagram statement. Questlove wrote: "Godspeed Willie."

The Colombian singer is now set to start her tour in Montpellier, France on Nov. 16. The artist deeply apologizes to his supportive fans and hopes to come to Asia in the future,” IME Asia, the concert organizer, stated in a press release.

Camila Cabello

When Camila Cabello was a member of girl group Fifth Harmony, she concerned fans when she left a stage mid-performance and canceled the rest of her dates for 2016. She revealed that her abrupt departure was due to severe anxiety: "Hi Missouri, sorry I couldn't finish the set last night," she wrote on Twitter. "Was having too much anxiety and couldn't finish it. I love u. I'm truly sorry."

Daddy Yankee

Heeding doctor's orders, "Despacito" singer Daddy Yankee canceled a concert in Colombia last year after being hospitalized for a rise in blood pressure, hypoglycemia and dehydration People en Español reported.

After overselling tickets, Colombian artist Maluma was forced to cancel his concert in Rome for capacity concerns. "This has not been an easy decision to make,” Maluma said in a statement. "The last thing I wanted to do was to disappoint my Roman fans for whom I have dreamed of performing for many years... I would never risk anybody's safety, let alone that of my fans.”

Luis Miguel

The Mexican singer canceled his shows in Mexico City last year due to health concerns: "The singer must complete necessary medical treatments that he initiated in 2015 in order to recuperate completely," his rep said in a statement.

Eiza Gonzalez Slams ‘Disturbing’ Criticisms of Jennifer Lopez After Singer Cancels Tour

Eiza González came to the defense of Jennifer Lopez after the singer announced the cancellation of her first tour in five years.

“I have to say the level of bullying that this woman has received in the last few months is so disturbing and heartbreaking,”  González wrote via Instagram Story on Friday, May 31.

“How can you complain about someone being mean while enjoying [sic] mean about them,” she added. “People are humans, make mistakes and some have personal things happening while also having to be constantly perfect in the public eye.”

The 3 Body Problem star continued, “The world is a pretty complicated place. The best thing we could be doing now is be kind. We have no clue what people are experiencing.”

González’s defense of the “Jenny From the Block” singer came the same day it was announced via Live Nation and a fan newsletter that the This Is Me … Live Tour was canceled . The cancellation comes amid rumors of poor ticket sales and turmoil in her marriage to Ben Affleck . “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” the announcement read.

Lopez also shared a “special message” in her newsletter stating that fans who purchased a ticket through Ticketmaster will be “automatically” refunded.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” she wrote. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time …”

In May, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that Lopez and Affleck, who wed in 2022, had been “having issues” in their marriage as she started “prepping for her tour.”

A source exclusively told Us earlier in May that the couple was no longer living in the same house, saying that Affleck had moved out of the mansion he shares with Lopez “several weeks ago.”

Lopez dodged questions about her marriage at a recent press event for her Netflix movie Atlas . When a reporter asked about Lopez and Affleck’s relationship, costar Simu Liu jumped in to deflect the question. “OK, we’re not doing that,” he said, ending the press event. “Thank you so much, guys. We really appreciate it.” Before leaving, Lopez chastised the reporter, saying, “You know better than that.”

Lopez and Affleck have yet to publicly address the status of their marriage.

In a statement, the singer-songwriter said he wants to “be at my best and ready for Glastonbury and all the other incredible shows coming up, so that I’m able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come.”

DJ Roman Kemp wrote: “Rest up chief,” adding on Good Morning Britain : “I’m really glad we’re seeing artists taking care of themselves.” Dean McCullough added: “Sending all the love and good vibes your way buddy.” Clara Amfo added: “Really glad you’re doing this x.”

Capaldi’s statement comes after he recently opened up about the Tourette’s symptoms he experiences on stage , saying they have been “getting quite bad” recently.

The singer also explained why it’s a “very real possibility” he’ll “have to quit” the music industry.

Jennifer Lopez cancels tour, including Prudential Center, Madison Square Garden shows

1-minute read.

singer cancels tour

Singer Jennifer Lopez' summer tour "This Is Me, Live" has been cancelled, including shows at the Prudential Center and Madison Square Garden, Live Nation representatives announced on her website .

The website says the reason for the cancellation is because Lopez "is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends." Back in March, their were reports that seven shows on her tour were cancelled due to a "logistical issue," according to Ticketmaster.

Lopez herself released a statement on her website saying how she is "completely devastated and heartbroken about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel it was absolutely necessary."

How to get a Jennifer Lopez refund

All tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded, according to the statement on her website. If fans purchased tickets on third party sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub and VividSeats, those must reach out to the point of purchase for further details.

A New Jersey show at Prudential Center in Newark was scheduled for Aug. 10 on the summer tour. Lopez was also supposed to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Aug. 16.

Lopez was on tour for her new album "This Is Me, Now" which released in February. An Amazon Prime movie called "This is me, now: A Love Story" was released simultaneously with her music project.

Even though Lopez has achieved great commercial success in the past with four No. 1 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 , Forbes reports that her last album sold 14,000 copies , the lowest of her career.

Lopez has great ties to the metropolitan area being from the Bronx, a place that the singer and actress has shouted that out many times in her music and throughout her career.

Willie Nelson, 91, Cancels Tour Appearance On Doctor's Orders

W illie Nelson is booked solid through the summer with the Outlaw Fest featuring a slew of rotating list of music guests. His social media team shared on June 21 that the iconic singer, who turned 91 this year, had to drop out of a few shows on the advice of his doctor. What’s going on with his health? Keep reading for what we know so far.

Willie Nelson, 91, Cancels Tour Appearance On Doctor’s Orders

Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are on the first leg of the Outlaw Fest touring the U.S. this summer. Plant and Krauss are replaced by John Mellencamp for dates later in the tour. Sheryl Crow and Maren Morris also join the tour for a few stops.

But concertgoers at the next few Outlaw Fest shows might not get a chance to see Willie Nelson perform . He has been forced to take it easy for the next four days on orders from his doctor.

A message posted on all of Nelson’s social media accounts, including Twitter and Instagram, reveal that the “Crazy” singer is feeling under the weather. He is expected to rejoin the tour next week. The next few shows include a stop in Virginia Beach, two stops in New York state and one in New Jersey. It’s unclear if Willie Nelson will have recovered enough to perform at those shows.

According to the social media post, his son, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band will take the stage in Willie Nelson’s place until he can return.

Country Fans Slam Social Media Announcement

The social media post was flooded with well wishes for the iconic singer-songwriter. But many fans also took issue with the wording of the post. They particularly had a problem with the first sentence of the post. “We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson….”

One social media user replied to the tweet announcement, “Jesus you scared the heck out of us. Professionally speaking, if he is gonna be ok, do not start off with we regret to inform you about a 91 year old.”

Another fan wrote, “You could have just removed the first line and spared us all from the heartbreak.”

Willie Nelson celebrated his 90th birthday with a CBS special that aired in December 2023. The special is available to stream on Paramount Plus. He just turned 91 in April and vowed to continue touring as long as possible.

Sending all the well wishes to Willie Nelson!

The Great Concert Ticket Bust

Big musical acts are canceling tours. Are Taylor Swift and Beyoncé the only artists who can sell out shows?

singer cancels tour

It's probably really great to be Jennifer Lopez . Of my running mental list of people whose lives seem absolutely awesome, she easily falls within the top 10. But just because she lives a charmed life doesn't mean things go great all of the time, and, lately, things have been a little less than ideal for the actor/singer/dancer from the Bronx. Her relationship with Ben Affleck is said to be on the rocks, and beyond any personal woes, she's got professional pains, too. Namely, JLo is apparently having a hard time selling tickets.

Lopez announced a tour to support her new album ( and truly wild accompanying movie ), "This Is Me … Now," earlier this year, but she wound up canceling a bunch of dates amid weak sales. She then rebranded the tour as a greatest-hits show, but fans still weren't tripping over themselves to see her. At the end of May, JLo decided to cancel her tour , saying she was "heartsick" but needed to spend time with her family and friends.

In JLo's defense, she's not the only one having trouble packing venues. The rock duo The Black Keys scrapped a planned arena tour and are expected to announce a "revised" set of dates at smaller venues. On social media, fans have noted that some shows from the pop artists Troye Sivan and Charli XCX as well as the band Wallows appear to be undersold. The Latin trap artist Bad Bunny recently pulled out of a show in Minneapolis, reportedly amid weak sales. Coachella lagged this year, and there's been chatter about a variety of acts not hitting home runs sales-wise in some instances and locations, including Cardi B, Justin Timberlake, and Pink.

This doesn't mean the entire concert industry is in disarray. Taylor Swift is unstoppable . As is Beyoncé whenever she is on the road. Acts such as Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, and Olivia Rodrigo are selling a ton. Dead & Company, the successor band to the Grateful Dead, is adding dates at the Las Vegas Sphere. Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster and rules the roost in the live-events space, had a huge 2023, estimating that 145 million fans attended more than 50,000 events, a 20% increase in fans over the year before. However, not everything is going smoothly for everyone. For some artists, conditions aren't so favorable, and they're struggling to pull in the crowds they anticipated, at least right out of the gate.

"Concert promotion is a betting business. You don't always win. And sometimes, you can be humbled," said Jarred Arfa, the head of global music at Independent Artist Group, whose client roster includes Billy Joel, 50 Cent, and Metallica.

Ticket prices are just astronomical right now.

There are a combination of factors that are dragging down some artists' ticket sales. For one thing, a lot of acts are on tour at the moment. In the wake of the pandemic, artists have been eager to get back out there and recoup lost time and money. Even if the return hasn't been smooth , basically anyone who can be touring is, meaning the space is crowded and oversaturated.

Related stories

"You'd never before had a moment in time where all the horses lined up at the starting gate and they all went out on the road at the same time," said Gary Witt, the CEO and co-owner of The Pabst Theater Group in Milwaukee.

The world really is your oyster right now when it comes to catching a show. But it also means that people have a ton of options, and there is only so much time to go around. Maybe you already saw your favorite artist when they first went on the road after the worst of COVID passed, and you don't feel especially inspired to go see them again. Or you like the band or singer in question plenty, but not enough to go through all the rigamarole of seeing them live. Either way, the once feverish demand for that ticket has probably cooled.

Pricing is also a factor. Anyone who's looked for concert tickets recently has probably been gobsmacked at the cost. Many consumers have been spending through inflation , even if begrudgingly so, but no one's budget is limitless, especially as prices for basically everything — including tickets to live events — remain elevated. Pollstar calculated that the average ticket price for the top 100 tours in the first quarter of this year was $123.25, an all-time. Its data indicates that the average ticket price for a Bad Bunny ticket is $290, for Justin Timberlake $216, and for Nicki Minaj $149.

"Ticket prices are just astronomical right now," said David "5-1" Norman, an industry veteran who has toured with Prince, Green Day, and Alicia Keys. "And if you're bringing a child with you, and then you have to stay overnight and gas and hotel and then food, that stuff adds up."

Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales.

Going on tour is always a gamble based on numerous factors including ticket history, streaming performance, email list sizes, and online attention. But there are no guarantees that any of that will translate to hard ticket sales . There are artists who might have massive numbers online but whose fans are only surface-level and don't really care enough to appear at a show. The way artists break out on social media nowadays makes it even harder to figure out whether that might be the case. Having a couple of hits on Spotify or TikTok doesn't mean someone can sell out a stadium.

That's why, in some cases, there seems to be a degree of overshooting. Artists (and their agents and managers and promoters) are trying to sell out bigger venues than they can. A more conservative approach would be to book a handful of big venues and see how it goes before committing to more, but that's not the approach everyone is taking.

"We have some hard-rock artists who you've never even heard of and they sell out everywhere, but they have that loyal fan base," Arfa said. "Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales." For every five or six acts that are doing great touring, one is a little clunky, he added. "We're having a couple conversations where we're thinking it may be best to push into Q1 of next year because of a high level of traffic on the road right now."

A spokesperson for Live Nation said in a statement that over 100 million tickets have been sold this year, even with fewer stadium shows touring, and that sales for shows in arenas, amphitheaters, theaters, and clubs are up "double digits" from last year. "Every year some events naturally fall off for various reasons, and in 2024 across all venue types we've seen a 4% cancellation rate – which is flat to last year," the spokesperson said.

Every artist and situation is unique. Bad Bunny may not have been able to sell such high-priced tickets in Minneapolis, but he's sold a ton of other places. JLo seems to have a lot more on her plate than trying to tour right now, and the Black Keys will probably do fine in smaller venues. A representative for Live Nation, which is producing the Troye Sivan/Charli XCX show, said the tour had sold out some dates and was 70% sold across the board, implying there had been misconceptions about sales online. (They said Wallows is selling "well" without providing on-the-record specifics and pointed to public statements from the Black Keys and Lopez, the tours of which Live Nation all produced.) Hiccups are not all about ticket sales, either. Kid Cudi canceled his tour this year because he broke his foot jumping off the stage during Coachella, and many acts aren't specifically saying the problem is sales when they do cancel.

There are strategies acts undertake to try to freshen things up for fans and boost sales, such as combining forces or bringing in special guests. Def Leppard is touring with Journey this year, and last year it toured with Mötley Crüe. There's always good old marketing. Live Nation recently wrapped its "concert week," which offers a variety of tickets at $25 — a good way to push tickets that aren't moving.

There is, of course, a huge issue that undergirds the entire conversation: Buying tickets is supremely annoying. You have to really want to see a show to try to navigate the labyrinthine purchase process. Live Nation-Ticketmaster dominates the market, which critics — including the Department of Justice, which is suing the company over claims of anti-competitive practices — say stifles innovation, allows for unfair markups, and contributes to an overall negative experience for fans . Fees on tickets are confoundingly high and seemingly endless . Bot armies snatch up tickets when they go on sale and flip them on the secondary markets for exorbitantly high prices. (One piece of silver lining here is that this year's lowered demand has resulted in lower resale ticket prices. SeatGeek says the average resale ticket price to attend a summer concert this year is $214; last year, it was $257, though a lot of that was due to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.)

"The time when customer experiences aren't good is usually when there's a monopoly involved," Witt, from The Pabst Theater Group, said.

JLo, of course, will be fine — she is very rich, famous, and beautiful after all. Her fans will survive and will probably have a chance to see her perform again. But next time she hits the road, they'd be wise to scoop up her tickets fast so "This Is Me … Whenever In the Future" doesn't get axed, too.

Reggaeton singer Don Omar reveals he has cancer ahead of additional tour dates

Don Omar In Concert - Duluth, GA

Reggaeton star Don Omar revealed he has cancer Monday in an Instagram post with a photo of what appears to be him wearing a hospital bracelet.

Omar, who is from Puerto Rico, captioned the post in Spanish, saying that "tomorrow" he will be cancer-free. There were no additional details about his diagnosis or treatment.

"Good intentions are well received," he wrote, according to the translation. "See you all soon."

The message was posted only hours after Omar posted a video of him auditioning dancers for the second leg of his Back to Reggaeton tour. New shows resume in August, starting with a stop in Oakland, California.

Omar, whose real name is William Omar Landrón Rivera, rose to popularity in the early 2000s. He has released eight studio albums since 2003 and has won two Latin Grammy awards out of 13 nominations. He also spent many years famously feuding with fellow singer Daddy Yankee, despite having collaborated and toured together early in their careers. The two men posted that they buried the hatchet in separate Instagram posts in December, according to Billboard .

"I wish you the best for you and your family," Omar wrote . "Thank you for your competitiveness and admirable discipline but even more thank you for what you did for our music.”

Travis Kelce Makes Surprise ‘Eras Tour’ Appearance Onstage, Revives Taylor Swift After Heartbreak | Video

The football star’s surprise appearance comes days after the pop star’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn spoke about their breakup for the first time

A woman is joined onstage by several men in tuxedoes. There is one Black man and two with lighter skin.

Travis Kelce surprised Taylor Swift fans when he joined his paramour onstage Sunday night for the singer’s final show in London. Kelce joined two men who typically carry Swift to a heart-shaped box at the end of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and help her change into a new outfit before she launches into “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.”

The couple have been public since shortly after they began dating in 2023, a marked contrast to the ultra-private relationship Swift had with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn for six years. Kelce’s appearance onstage — his first since he began attending Swift’s concerts in July of last year — came just days after Alwyn gave his first interview about the pair’s breakup .

Kelce smiled broadly and appeared filled with joy as he joined Swift on stage. He’s also regularly been seen dancing and singing along with her songs from the crowd, including at a recent London Eras Tour stop alongside Tom Cruise .

Three men watch Taylor Swift walk down the stage, holding a microphone. They are near a large red heart-shaped couch. One of them smiles broadly at her.

“The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” is widely believed to be a scathing take by Swift on Alwyn, with “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” telling the story of doing the first leg of the Eras Tour after breaking up with that longtime partner.

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” Alwyn told the U.K.’s Sunday Times. “That is a hard thing to navigate.”

“What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in,” he added.

Alwyn pointedly noted that he had no plans to speak further about the relationship or anything that pertained to Swift. “As everyone knows, we together — both of us, mutually — decided to keep the more private details of our relationship private. It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now,” he said.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl appeared to take a swipe at Swift during the band’s own show in London on Saturday. “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” Grohl told the audience. “So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f–king errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live.”

In January, Grohl’s daughter Violet drew the wrath of Swift’s fans when she criticized the singer’s use of private jets to get from one concert stop to another, as well as other times when she needs to travel quickly.
