Riding the Jacobite Steam Train was not just about seeing the landscapes that inspired J.K. Rowling, but about rekindling the sense of wonder that first captivated me as I shared the magical world of Harry Potter with my children, watching their eyes light up with each spellbinding moment on screen.

Seated comfortably, the lush scenery of the West Highland Line unfolded like a moving painting, the natural beauty that had inspired so many stories . The highlight, undoubtedly, was the moment we approached the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct – a sight so deeply ingrained in the collective imagination of Harry Potter fans. As the train curved along the viaduct, I half-expected to see the Hogwarts Express reflected in the waters below, carrying students to a new term of magical education.

If you want to see more of the Scottish Highlands, the multi-day excursions are great value for money. These include overnight stays at one of the prettiest villages in the Scottish Highlands and all transport, including the added expertise of a driver.

However, if you only have one day in the Highlands , I recommend the day excursions from either Inverness or Edinburgh as I’ve undertaken these tours and find these are reliable in their offerings.

Whichever of the tour options recommended here you select, these escorted tours include other destinations also which makes it really worthwhile. These may include stops at Caledonian Canal, Fort Augustus , Loch Ness, Falls of Foyers , Glen Coe, the pretty village of Portree and the famed Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye along with other places en route.

This day trip offers plenty of photo opportunities. You’ll make a photo-stop at Urquhart Castle (ruins) and Commando Memorial before heading to Fort William where you’ll embark on your timeless journey aboard the Jacobite Steam Train to Mallaig. You’ll have time to view and photograph the Glenfinnan Viaduct before making your return journey where a stop at Fort Augustus is on the itinerary. The final stop on the Jacobite Steam Train tours day trip from Inverness is at Dores Beach where you’ll watch a mesmerising sunset.

PRO TIP: On your journey to Mallaig from Fort William, sit on the left-hand side of the train in the direction of the train. In this way, you get a better view of the lochs as you pass them, and an incredible view of the ‘curve’ of the Glenfinnan Viaduct. If you want to see most of the ‘curve’ sit towards the back of the train and choose a seat that aligns by a window bay.

While I enjoyed the camaraderie among passengers, aboard the Jacobite Steam Train tours which I undertook, where some even doned on a Hogwarts robe, there is no specific dress code requirement for the train. However, it’s wise to consider the weather on the day and dress appropriately with a good pair of walking shoes so you are comfortable.

Can you Bring Your Own Food on the Jacobite Steam Train?

Depending on the class of service you opt for, the first class usually comes with complimentary beverages and a light snack.

First Class passengers may receive complimentary tea or coffee and can pre-order an afternoon tea box​​​​.

For the standard class travellers, no beverages or snacks are included but the train offers a buffet car for purchasing snacks and drinks. If you prefer, you can purchase your own drinks and snacks and take this with you on the train. There are several shops next to the stations either at Fort William or Mallaig where you can stock up for your journey.

For the best views on the Jacobite Steam Train, I recommend that you get a seat by the window on the left side of the train when traveling from Fort William to Mallaig. This position offers the best photo opportunities, especially when crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The train briefly pauses on the viaduct, allowing passengers to take photos. However, on the return journey from Mallaig to Fort William, the train does not stop on the viaduct, so it’s important to be quick with your camera​​.

On the return journey from Mallaig to Fort William on the Jacobite Steam Train, it’s generally recommended to sit on the right side for scenic views.

What is the Journey Time from Fort William to Mallaig and the Return Journey from Mallaig to Fort William?

The journey from Fort William to Mallaig on the Jacobite Steam Train takes just over 2 hours. The return journey from Mallaig back to Fort William is slightly shorter, mainly because the train does not stop at Glenfinnan station on the way back as it does on the outbound trip.

The Jacobite Steam Train is extremely popular and can get booked up months in advance, especially during the summer season. To avoid disappointment, it’s recommended to book your tickets early​​​​.

Let us organise your Jacobite Steam Train experience from start to finish, your private tour will start in Edinburgh or Glasgow from your requested pick up point, sit back and relax whilst your kilted tour guide drives through the Highlands stopping off  the iconic Loch Lomond and the breathtaking Glen Coe where there will be plenty of opportunities for photographs.

On arrival in Fort William you and your group will lunch and then you will be accompanied on a tour of the town and Inverlochy Castle, afterwards visiting The Steal Waterfalls where Mel Gibson’s Braveheart was filmed.  Your guide will drop you off at your accommodation.

The following morning you will travel on a short journey to The Jacobite Steam Train where you will board the steam train for your memorable journey to Mallaig, your guide will drive on ahead and film the train as it passes over the Glenfinnan Viaduct made famous by the Harry Potter movies. Arriving at Mallaig station your group will be met by your guide and taken for freshly caught fish and chips and afterwards taken for a tour of the town and its fishing fleet.

You will then visit the breathtaking silver sands of nearby Morar, next stopping at the Glenfinnan Viaduct for a closer look at this magnificent structure, built in 1901. This 21 span viaduct was made famous in the Harry Potter movies.

You will experience stunning views of Loch Shiel and the Glenfinnan Monument built to commemorate the Jacobite Uprising in 1745 led by Bonnie Prince Charlie. The history and natural beauty of this part of Scotland cannot be underestimated, therefore, we recommend a 2 day tour with an overnight stay in Fort William.

JACOBITE STEAM TRAIN 2 DAY HIGHLAND TOUR

Day 1: 9 am Collection from your accommodation in Glasgow and Edinburgh by your Scottish guide, firstly your tour will travel through the picturesque Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, where at the Scottish Lowlands meet the Scottish Highlands. You will be awestruck by the breathtaking natural beauty and views this area has in abundance.

Your tour will stop off at the Falls of Falloch, a 30 feet waterfall on the River Falloch which passes through Glen Falloch on its way to Loch Lomond. The waterfall is a must see attraction nestling in the peaceful Glen Falloch.

After leaving the Falls of Falloch we will travel on to the village of Tyndrum for a coffee and rest break. The tour will continue on to the atmospheric and tragic mountain range of Glencoe, stopping off at The 3 Sisters for a photo opportunity and 20 minute walk to the bridge (optional), afterwards your guide with regale the group with the terrible events in 1692, where a large number of the MacDonald Clan were massacred in cold blood by order of the English King William of Orange.

Next stop is a 30 minute drive through the town of Fort William, originally named Inverlochy before the reign of King William II, to visit the ruined Inverlochy Castle which formerly guarded the South entrance to The Great Glen. Last stop of the day is Spean Bridge Commando Monument, built in memory of the commandos who were trained in the Highlands during the World War II. You will enjoy the fabulous views of Ben Nevis Mountain range, the highest mountain in the British Isles. Overnight stay in Fort William or surrounding area.

Day 2: 9 am Collection from accommodation and a short journey to Fort William train station to board the Jacobite Steam train at 10.15am. Prior to boarding the train, you will have an opportunity to take some photos. During this 2 and a half hour amazing journey, one of the top railway journeys’s in the world, you will see:

• Loch Linnhe
• Glenfinnan Viaduct made famous in the Harry Potter Movies – your guide will travel on to the Glenfinnan Viaduct and film your train travelling over the iconic viaduct
• Loch Shiel and the monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite Uprising in 1745
• Arisaig where on a clear day you can see the ‘Small Isles’ of Rum, Eigg. Muck, Canna and the southern tip of the Isle of Skye
• Morar and the silvery sands of Loch Morar beaches where the movies ‘Local Hero’ and ‘Highlander’ were filmed.

Arriving at Mallaig you will be met by your guide and will lunch in one of the seafood restaurants where you can choose from the many choices including locally caught fish and chips. Afterward you can stretch your legs and join your guide for a walk around this charming fishing village for a guided tour. Leaving Mallaig your tour will continue on for a 10 minute drive for a quick stop off at the beautiful sands of Morar, afterward you will visit the Glenfinnan Viaduct overlooking Loch Shiel for a closer look at this 21 span viaduct completed in 1901. Your tour will travel onwards back to your accommodation in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain's most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!

The train stops en route to Mallaig at the village of Glenfinnan (see below and subject to time permitting). Beyond Glenfinnan are the beautiful villages of Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar and Mallaig. You may alight at Arisaig by request to the guard. From here, on a clear summer's day, you can see the "Small Isles" of Rum, Eigg, Muck, Canna and the southern tip of Skye. The train continues on from here passing Morar and the silvery beaches used in the films "Highlander" and "Local Hero".

But as the travelling is as much a part of the experience as the arrival we hope you enjoy this spectacular railway journey, regarded as one of the greatest in the world.

FORT WILLIAM

Fort William, the largest town in the Highlands and situated at the southern end of the Great Glen, lies in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britains highest mountain. This area is a fine location to use as a base to discover the West Highlands.

We cross the 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct (a location made famous in the Harry Potter films) which overlooks Loch Shiel and the Jacobite monument. The train may pause on the viaduct, time permitting, to allow you to take in the magnificent view. Subject to time permitting, we will stop at Glenfinnan station. Once stopped in Glenfinnan there will be time to stretch your legs and, if you wish, visit the West Highland Railway Museum located in the restored station building. The Jacobite may also stop at Arisaig by request to the guard.

The village of Arisaig (the Safe Place) is centred on the sheltered shore of Loch nan Ceall (Loch of the Cells). From this very tranquil village it is possible to take the boat, The Sheerwater to the Small Isles (until mid September). The local Highland Games takes place here annually on the last Wednesday in July at Traigh Farm.

The end of the line, Mallaig was founded during the 1840s when the owner of the North Morar Estate, Lord Lovat, divided up the farm on the coast here into a series of parcels of land and encouraged his tenants living around Loch Morar and Loch Nevis to resettle in what became Mallaig and establish a fishing village. Today Mallaig is a busy fishing port and ferry terminal with services to Skye, the Small Isles and to the Knoydart Peninsula to visit Inverie and the most remote pub on mainland Britain, The Old Forge. In addition, you can board MV Western Isles for a scenic Wildlife Cruise. Arriving in Mallaig we have over an hour and a half to enjoy a walk round and take in the atmosphere: there are shops, bars, restaurants and plenty of fish and chips to be enjoyed during the lunchtime stopover.

It’s a Scotland bucket list activity, especially if you’re a Harry Potter fan, so fortunately it’s possible to do a 1 day Jacobite steam train tour from Edinburgh to ride the famous steam train!

Following an 84-mile route, the Jacobite steam train runs from Fort William to Mallaig on the Scottish coast.  The train runs daily but only between early April and the end of October. Tickets to ride the Jacobite train can sell out fast as do spots on the Jacobite steam train tours from Edinburgh.

Fortunately, the Jacobite train tours from Edinburgh have a certain number of tickets pre-allocated to them each season, so this means that you’re more likely to find a ticket via the Jacobite train tours for your specific dates – especially if you’re booking more last minute.

A brief history of the Jacobite Steam Train and the Glenfinnan Viaduct

The Jacobite steam train has been in operation since 1984. It is currently operated by West Coast Railways but has had several operators over the years.

The 84 mile route runs from Fort William, beside the tallest mountain in Scotland – Ben Nevis. It then travels to Mallaig on the coast, taking in stunning scenery, lochs, rivers and mountains with stops at the following villages along the way: Glenfinnan, Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar and Mallaig being the final destination.

Interestingly, Arisaig is also Britain’s most westerly mainland railway station. 

The train and the route itself are also often called The Hogwarts Express, thanks to the use of the train and the Glenfinnan Viaduct in the world-famous Harry Potter movies.

You cross Glenfinnan Viaduct in the early part of your journey, as you reach the first stop of Glenfinnan from Fort William.

The Viaduct is Victorian and was built between 1897 and 1901. It sits at the top of Loch Shiel – another filming location used in the Harry Potter movies.

A Jacobite steam train day tour from Edinburgh

There are a limited number of Jacobite train day tours from Edinburgh, particularly ones that are at an affordable price. But this Jacobite train tour day trip from Edinburgh provides excellent value for money. 

The tour includes a friendly and knowledgeable local tour guide who even manages to make the long coach journey entertaining! The tour includes:

How long is the Jacobite train tour from Edinburgh?

To reach the Jacobite train from Edinburgh, the drive is approximately 3.5 hours from Edinburgh to Fort William, so it’s not short.

Your day starts at the meeting location in Edinburgh at 6am and you return to Edinburgh around 8pm, depending on traffic conditions.

Breakfast is included but taking snacks is definitely a good idea too for the journey out to the Jacobite steam train from Edinburgh.

You’ll be able to stop for lunch in Mallaig before boarding the train for the return journey to Fort William, followed by the bus journey back to Edinburgh.

Stopping at Mallaig

The train journey takes around 2 hours each direction so you are on the train for about 4-4.5 hours of the day, so Mallaig is essential for stretching your legs before the return journey!

Mallaig is a beautiful port town on Scotland’s west coast and it’s just a shame you can’t stay for longer there.

With just one and a half hours between the train arriving and your departure, it’s just enough time to grab some tasty fish and chips, enjoy a stroll around the harbour and through the town itself before heading back to the station for your return journey.

Is this just a Harry Potter themed tour?

No not at all!

Obviously there are a lot of Harry Potter filming locations in Scotland and the movies are the reason most people know of the steam train and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, but it’s not a Harry Potter themed tour – you can enjoy it whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or not!

If you are looking for a Harry Potter train tour from Edinburgh then this is a good option as you’ll also see the filming locations like Loch Shiel used in the Chamber of Secrets and Rannoch Moor where scenes from the Prisoner of Azkaban were filmed. But the franchise definitely isn’t a big focus from the tour guides.

However, as stated above, the tour guides are local guides with a vast knowledge of Scotland’s history and the local area, not Harry Potter specialists, so the tour is great for everyone.

Riding the Jacobite Steam Train

Your tickets included on this tour are for the standard class ticket, so it’s important to note that the interior of the standard class isn’t anything special – you’re there for the scenery and the experience, not the interior of the train!

The luxury compartments and First Class tickets start from £79.50 and can be booked here .

The best side to sit on the train (if you’re able to!) is on the left side as you face the direction of travel. This allows you to see the curve of the Viaduct ahead of you as you round the hills and onto the Viaduct section of rail.

Also note that the train doesn’t ‘turn around’ for the return journey, only the locomotive moves to the front of the carriages. So you will be sitting on the same side on the return journey if you’re in the same allocated seats.

A day tour is the ideal option especially if you are wanting to experience more of the Scottish Highlands but don’t have a vehicle to use yourself. It also takes the hassle out of having to drive and having to book train tickets, car rentals etc separately.

Soon, our journey north will showcase views of the iconic Forth Bridge: a stunning landmark which was completed in 1890 and became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2015. We pass the Kingdom of Fife and Perth, the ancient capital of Scotland, before entering the wildly gorgeous Scottish Highlands.

It’s time to board the Hogwarts Express. The Jacobite Steam Train departs from the fishing village of Mallaig and takes you on a journey across one of the world’s most beautiful railway lines. As one of our longest day tours from Edinburgh, the trip involves a one-way ride on the Jacobite Steam Train, scenic coach drives through enchanting Highland landscapes, and, of course, some stops for epic photos and well-deserved breaks along the way.

What is the ticket class for the Jacobite Steam Train ride?

All our Jacobite Steam Train tickets are Standard Class. Upgrades are not available.

What type of transportation is used for the journey from Edinburgh and back?

For most of the journey, you’ll be travelling on a comfy midi-coach, except for the 2-hour train ride in the afternoon. Your HAGGiS Guide will take you to the Mallaig train station, ensuring a smooth boarding onto the Jacobite Steam Train. Once you've had your magical train experience and arrived in Fort William, your Guide will be right there to greet you. That's where the tour group reunites and hops back on the coach to return to Edinburgh.

Are there toilets on the Jacobite Steam Train?

Yes, there are toilets situated at each end of the train coaches.

Can I bring food on the Jacobite Steam Train?

Feel free to bring your own snacks aboard the train. Additionally, a convenient snack cart will pass through the coaches, offering a selection of tasty treats for purchase.

Is this tour suitable for non-Harry Potter fans?

Absolutely! Whether you're a Harry Potter fan or not, riding the Jacobite Steam Train is a must for train enthusiasts and all-round Scotland lovers alike.

Are there toilet facilities on the coach?

While our coaches do not have onboard toilets, our itineraries are designed in such way that allows for frequent comfort stops, ensuring access to restroom facilities.

Are your tours suitable for individuals with mobility issues?

Our guides are unable to assist with wheelchairs or offer physical assistance when embarking or disembarking from the bus. Passengers should be able to board and disembark the coach themselves using the access stairs or with the assistance of a travelling companion. Wheelchairs should be foldable so that they can be stored away in our luggage storage onboard while driving.

Please be aware that some of the stops on our tours may be on rough terrain or be only accessible by steps. 

Hostels have limited access for wheelchair users, please contact us to find out about specific hostel's access.

Can I purchase snacks or souvenirs at the stops along the way?

Absolutely! Our routes integrate stops where you can grab a wee bite or replenish your energy with a drink * . Sometimes we stop at shops that offer local souvenirs, too. It’s always best to ask your Guide about the specifics regarding times and stops.

*Vegetarian snack and meal options are available in most places in the Highlands.

Where can I get a more detailed itinerary?

While our tours have a set plan with main stops, the beauty lies in the unique twists! Due to factors like weather, traffic, and preferences of our Driver Guides, we refrain from offering more details than the ones outlined here. Rest assured you’ll have an adventure beyond the expected.

What if I need to cancel my tour?

If you need to cancel your tour, you will need to inform us in writing by sending an email to [email protected] . Our cancellation and refunds policy varies based on the type of tour:

• Full refund if cancelled more than 24 hours prior to departure time.
• No refund if cancelled 24 hours or less prior to departure time.

Spring Travel: take a trip on 21st Century's steam train The Aberdonian

Whether you are a seriously committed railway enthusiast or just fancy experiencing the golden age of stylish travel for a day, 21st Century Steam’s timetable for train trips across Scotland this summer looks like the ultimate treat.

Their vintage train, The Aberdonian, is pulled by a celebrity engine, 60163 Tornado, a beautiful green steam machine and something of an engineering marvel.

In its time it has played a starring role in the film Paddington 2 , and Jeremy Clarkson has shovelled its coal in an episode of Top Gear . It has even pulled the Royal Train.

But while it may look like it is decades-old, Tornado was actually built in 2008 by a team of volunteers.

It is also a bit of a record-breaker, being the only steam train to reach 100mph since the 1960s.

This summer it will be offering passengers a series of unmissable rail trips from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Stirling, for those who love the nostalgia of steam but also the finer things in life.

Old World luxury and fine dining, with some of the best views of Scotland as a backdrop, are on offer as you get on board The Aberdonian from Edinburgh or The Clyde Aberdonian tours from Glasgow.

Powered by just coal and water to create the steam needed to turn the 60163 Tornado’s wheels, expect the smell of smoke and the hiss of steam as you board, before the rhythmic beats of the mechanics and the white puffs from the chimney gain pace as you leave the station and start on your journey.

There is a choice of tickets available, starting in tourist class, which offers table seats with unobstructed views and access to the buffet car.

Prices are from £115 per person, and there is a four-person family ticket available – one or two adults plus two or three children – which makes the experience a more affordable day out.

Up a level are the Harry-Potter-esque First Class compartments, or you can opt for the luxury of Premier Dining class, which includes a full Scottish breakfast on the outward journey and a four-course meal on the way home. The on-board caterers specialise in local produce and each meal is cooked fresh.

As for the route, from Edinburgh, the train will start by crossing the iconic Forth Bridge before traversing the furrowed fields of Fife.

From Glasgow and Stirling the route is inland until Dundee, from where both routes follow the dramatic and rugged east coast up to the Granite City, offering spectacular views across the North Sea around each bend.

With a four-hour break in the journey before heading home, passangers have the option of adding on some off-train excursions too.

Those wishing to stretch their legs can pay a visit to any of the area’s National Trust Scotland properties for a giant helping of local history.

Visitors will surely admire the lavishly decorated historic piles, whispering stories of times gone by, as well as exploring their beautifully tended gardens.

If you like your trip to be a little more spirited, then a whisky tasting tour of a local distillery could tickle your palate with some of the finest malts from the region.

Then board the train for a relaxing trip home, with a front-row seat to some of Scotland’s finest landscapes.

Taylor Swift live in Edinburgh: The Eras tour finally hits the UK

Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, Friday 7 June: Taylor Swift kicks off the UK leg with a record-breaking turn in the Scottish capital

In Edinburgh, The Eras Tour energy descends on the city long before the show begins. Trains to the Scottish capital are jam-packed as Swifties flock to Murrayfield Stadium (with one even named “The Flying Swiftie” in honour of the occasion); on street corners, stalls selling cowboy hats and feather boas have popped up; Swift’s greatest hits are blasted throughout the city; and everywhere you look there’s a flash of sequins and sparkle from punters decked out in their finery for the occasion.

Tonight’s sold-out show – night one of three at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium – is not only the earliest chance for UK fans to witness the megalithic Eras Tour on home soil, it’s also the first time Swift has played in Scotland since 2015. It’s something she acknowledges tonight. “And I was wondering, what’s it going to be like when we go back to visit them [in Scotland]. What’s it going to be like? How are they going to be, as a crowd?” she reflects early on during the stadium show.

“And you know what, you kind of answered me before I even got on stage,” she grins. “Because I had someone pull me aside and say: ‘hey, we’ve checked this 20 times and we swear it’s accurate, tonight’s concert is the most highly-attended stadium show in Scottish history.”

Of course, The Eras tour is no stranger to record breaking – it’s on-track to become the most lucrative tour in music history  – and since kicking off in Arizona last March, the megawatt show has circled the globe, been turned into a smash concert film and become a mainstay on the Internet (where clips of the show constantly trend).

The three-and-a-half hour, 45-song show is an epic, taking tonight’s 73,000 fans on a journey through Swift’s musical “eras”, showcasing the 11 albums (although her self-titled debut album doesn’t hold a permanent spot in the set-list) that have made her a record-breaking pop colossus. Staging and visuals are electric, shifting for each era. There’s a mossy-covered cabin in the woods that Swift climbs atop for folksy sister records ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’, the wind a featured actor for the evening as it causes her green dress to dramatically billow around her. Meanwhile, slithering snake imagery (and some well-timed pyrotechnics) appear for the bombastic ‘Reputation’; and there’s dramatic black and white settings for the show’s newest set-list additions taken from most recent record ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ (including a white bed-slash-office that’s moved across the stage during ‘Fortnight’).

Each era is a distinct chapter. The aforementioned visuals (which are aided by distinct colour palettes) are accompanied by wardrobes of (rapidly changed, often brilliantly bespangled) costumes for Swift and her dancers, and – of course – the differing musical worlds. In the live setting the synth-led sound of ‘Reputation’ is rocked up, Swift’s guitarists (she’s joined on-stage by a slick six-piece band, and four backing vocalists) shredding exuberantly. In fact, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ has never sounded better.

The big hitters sparkle too. The glossy synth-pop of ‘1989’ and its bountiful belters (‘Style’, ‘Blank Space’, ‘Shake It Off’ to name three) are effervescent earworms, while the country-led sonics of ‘Fearless’ offer pure nostalgia. And when Swift begins the bridge of fan-favourite ‘Cruel Summer’ ( “I’m drunk in the back of the car…” ) – which appears second in the setlist – it’s a giddy moment of pure euphoria.

Then at the centre of it all is Swift herself, guiding the audience through the hit-stacked show era to era. The ringleader of the entire Eras Tour shepherds us through with razor precision, an utter pro who’s energy doesn’t waiver throughout. And even among the meticulously rehearsed and choreographed performance which runs like clockwork, she finds pockets of humour and moments to connect with the crowd. She tells the audience that the Scottish countryside may-or-may-not have inspired the imagery for ‘Folklore’, gets a dancer to put on a Scottish accent for a spoken word quip in ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ ), and laughs off having to pause during an acoustic rendition of ‘Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve’ for the surprise songs portion of the show due to a “weird cramp” in her hand while playing guitar.

Despite being an arena show, in a huge, cavernous venue, Swift and her fans have managed to cultivate a community. Strangers swap friendship bracelets, laugh and cry together, and embrace the tour’s in-jokes and lore (for example shouting “one, two, three, let’s go bitch” during ‘Delicate’). It’s the power of Swift, an artist who’s inspired not only the renaming of a Scottish Loch , but also countless fans to come out and embrace being a part of the Eras family. With The Eras Tour , then, Swift’s managed to craft a marvel of a show that comes with a beating heart.
