Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Is Officially Heading to Theaters

A little treat for all the fans who couldn't nab a presale code

If you (like me) are one of the unlucky fans who couldn't nab a presale code in time to buy a ticket to the Eras Tour, then the latest Swiftie news will likely put an end to your grieving period. At last, Taylor Swift's epic, continent-spanning, economy-boosting concert is getting the big screen treatment.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour officially debuted in movie theaters last fall, aptly premiering on October (can you guess it?) 13th.

More big news for Swifties: a new Golden Globes awards category that recognizes cinematic and box office achievement has officially made the concert film a Globe nominee, earning blondie her fifth-ever Globe nomination.

Ahead, we list everything you need to know about the film.

When can I watch the film?

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour dropped in theaters on October 13 (pointedly, the date is yet another reference to Swift's lucky number and one of her go-to Easter eggs).

How can I get a ticket?

Tickets are currently on sale at AMCTheatres.com and Fandango.com . Adult tickets will be priced at $19.89 plus tax, while children's/senior tickets will sell at $13.13 plus tax. The movie will additionally be available to watch in IMAX and other premium large formats for an additional fee. Members of AMC's Stub A-List will not be able to use their membership to reserve tickets for this event.

Anticipating the high volume of demand (and judging from Swifties' prior tendency to crash ticket sales sites ), AMC said in a statement that they “upgraded its website and ticketing engines to handle more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic the Company has ever experienced before.” Still, “AMC is also aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans when tickets are first placed on sale.” In other words, keep calm and expect possible “delays, longer-than-usual ticket-purchase waiting-room times and possible outages.”

AMC is also expected to play the concert film at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at every AMC location in the United States.

Where can I watch it?

AMC will show the movie in its theaters located across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The theatrical distributor has additionally coordinated with other theatre operators to secure viewing locations, such as Cinemark in the U.S., Cineplex in Canada, and Cinepolis in Mexico. The film is also now available to purchase via video on demand for at-home viewing.

Taylor Swift announces Eras Tour concert film heading to theaters in October

She comes back stronger than a '90s trend.

taylor swift eras tour movie fandango

Taylor Swift is headed to a movie theater near you.

For those who didn't manage to snag tickets to the singer's massive Eras Tour (or for those who want to experience it again), Swift revealed today that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film is heading to AMC and other theaters starting Oct. 13 (because of course it is). Every AMC location in the U.S. will run at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Pricing for the tickets will look familiar to her fans: All adult tickets will be priced at $19.89 plus tax, and children and senior tickets will be $13.13 plus tax, for all showtimes except branded premium large format screens. (The concert film will also be available in IMAX at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, and other premium large formats for their standard up-charge fee, which varies by format and theater.)

Stateside Swifties aren't the only ones who will get a chance to see the movie, however. In addition to exhibiting the concert film at its own theaters, AMC is also acting as the theatrical distributor, meaning it is securing locations and screens with numerous other movie theater operators throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to screen it.

According to a release, AMC already has secured deals with major theatrical exhibitors such as Cinemark and Harkins in the U.S., Cineplex in Canada, and Cinepolis in Mexico to show Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour . The release states "AMC expects that numerous other movie theater operators will show this concert film experience in their theaters beginning October 13," so fans should be on the lookout for more showtimes in the coming weeks.

Tickets are on sale now at AMCTheatres.com and Fandango.com . Check out the trailer for the concert film above.

Fans got great news when the pop star announced the upcoming release of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Movie, officially titled TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film. Considering all of Swift's concerts sold out, leaving many people unable to attend, this movie is expected to bring in a massive audience. Like the tour itself, Swift's concert film broke sales records within the first 24 hours, according to CNN . Here is all the information known about Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Movie.

When Is The Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie In Theaters

TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film is set to release in U.S., Canadian, and Mexican theaters on October 13, 2023 at most major chains. As of the time of writing, the movie will air in AMC Theatres until November 5. However, this time period may be extended depending on the demand for movie tickets and box office sales. If the initial sales are any indication, this movie will probably stay in theaters for longer than the almost three-week run it is currently slated for.

How To Get Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie Tickets

The movie TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film will release in AMC, Regal, and Cinemark theaters. AMC Theatres plans to show the film at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at every location across the U.S. Tickets will cost $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for children and seniors, plus tax. Though most of these chains offer loyalty memberships, it appears they will not be applicable to this film. Deadline confirmed that AMC Stubs A-List members will not be able to use their free passes.

Luckily, fans don't have to wait in order to get tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie . Tickets went on sale August 31 through websites like Fandango and AMC. Unfortunately, while tickets are already available, fans may experience long periods in queues. According to The Economic Times , the tickets were in such high demand within the first 24 hours that the AMC Theaters app crashed from the influx of traffic.

When Will The Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie Be On Streaming?

Currently, there is no set streaming release date for TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film . With the movie hitting theaters late this year, it's likely to release on streaming in early 2024. This speculative timeframe is based on a few factors. Firstly, the movie will likely have a short exclusivity period with U.S. movie theaters. Then the film would likely hit international theaters at the end of 2023. This would push a streaming release to 2024.

When the movie does begin streaming, it's likely that Netflix will have exclusive rights to the Eras Tour concert movie. This prediction is based on the fact that Swift previously worked with the company to release her 2020 documentary Miss Americana . On the other hand, the streaming platform HBO Max has a large collection of concert movies, which could make it an appealing option for TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film .

Where Will The Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie Release Internationally?

As of the time of writing, TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film is only set to release in North American theaters. It's likely that the film will hit international theaters after Swift completes the international leg of her tour. This will keep the show a surprise for everyone who has a ticket. Alternatively, the movie may forgo international theaters altogether and go straight to streaming instead. This would be a missed opportunity considering the U.S. tickets have already set sales records.

If you couldn't afford a Taylor Swift ticket, or want to see the show again, or the show in your city was sold out, or want to see what the hype is about, there's good news.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film is coming to AMC theaters across the U.S., Canada and Mexico starting Oct. 13, Swift announced Thursday.

"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I'm overjoyed to tell you that it'll be coming to the big screen soon," she said on Instagram . "Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged."

How three female artists lead this summer's billion-dollar pop culture revival

Pop Culture

How three female artists lead this summer's billion-dollar pop culture revival, local economies are getting a boost from taylor swift and beyoncé concerts.

Tickets for the tour went on sale on Ticketmaster in November 2022, but the process went haywire , as the website crashed multiple times, prices fluctuated, sales were canceled and fans were left waiting for hours, only to end up empty-handed. The fiasco prompted Congress to investigate Ticketmaster's business practices.

Economists estimate her tour could generate $5 billion by its end in November 2024. The average Swift concertgoer has spent almost $1,300 to attend, including the price of a ticket, plus things like merchandise, hair and outfits and a hotel and flight for travelers, Maura Klaunig, an analyst at Camoin Associates, told NPR.

But if navigating marked-up resale prices isn't your jam, you can catch the show on the big screen for a fraction of the price. A standard ticket is $19.89 (a nod to the title of her 5th album, maybe?) and $13.13 for children and seniors. Upgraded tickets are also available for IMAX and Dolby.

Tickets have already gone on sale on the AMC and Fandango websites. The movie will have at least four showtimes Thursdays through Sundays at every AMC location.

AMC Theaters reverses its decision to price tickets based on where customers sit

In anticipation of the demand, AMC said it has strengthened its website and online ticket servers to handle "more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic the Company has ever experienced before." Members of AMC's Stubs A-List program won't be allowed to use their rewards or discounts for the film, and AMC is temporarily reducing the amount of online tickets sold for other movies.

Still, AMC warned that customers "may experience delays, longer-than-usual ticket-purchase waiting-room times and possible outages" and will try to fix them as soon as possible.

AMC is also partnering with other movie theaters, including Cinemark in the U.S., Cineplex in Canada and Cinepolis in Mexico to get Swift on more screens.

The film is directed by Sam Wrench, who is behind similar concert films featuring Lizzo, BTS, Mary J. Blige, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez and Pentatonix.

‘inside out 2’ record second weekend for animated pic bigger at $101m – monday am update, ‘taylor swift: the eras tour’ movie: tickets, release dates, premiere & where to watch.

By Patrick Hipes , Tom Tapp

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tout

Taylor Swift has the highest-grossing concert tour of the year, and she’s set out to conquer movie theaters, as well. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , which opened Thursday , has already sold more than $100 million in advance ticket sales in 8,500 theaters across 100 countries around the world. It could make $107 million in the U.S. alone by the end of the first weekend, and Swift gets to keep about 60% of that .

How was the world premiere?

Swift watched the feature with friends and fans in the AMC Grove’s Dolby auditorium alongside Garner. The Dolby venue was her last stop after introducing the movie in 13 of the 14 AMC auditoriums at The Grove; 13 being her lucky number.

“Let me preface this by saying, I’ve always had fun doing this,” the 12x Grammy winner told the crowd, “I can’t believe music is my career. That’s crazy to me. I’ve always loved it.”

But, she continued, “I’ve never had a fraction of the amount of fun I had on the  Eras Tour  before — ever.”

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert is coming to movie theaters. See where you can watch.

Those who missed out on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour now have the chance to see the show with a concert film being released at thousands of theaters across the U.S., Canada and Mexico on Oct. 13.

The tour, which was notoriously difficult to get tickets for, will now be able to be watched by those who didn't attend. The release date for the film is in the same month as the release of Swift's newest album, "1989: Taylor's Version," which has a release date of Oct. 27.

Like most things Swift does, the movie release is filled with deeper meanings, including the ticket prices, which will be $19.89 plus tax for adults in honor of the album, and $13.13 plus tax for children and seniors, otherwise known as Swift's favorite number.

AMC said that it has updated its website and ticketing systems for the high demand that has come to be expected for Swift's endeavors.

The Eras Tour successes in ticket sales

The Eras Tour is continuing to make its way across the world, with the next show in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Nov. 9. Three million fans have attended the concerts already in the U.S., according to a release.

Tickets became hard to get for most fans, with prices going up to thousands of dollars a piece.

  • Taylor Swift's concert film, The Eras Tour , has already earned a staggering $26 million in pre-sales at AMC Theatres, breaking records and indicating high demand.
  • Fandango reported that The Eras Tour achieved the highest first-day ticket sales in 2023, comparable to blockbuster hits like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Endgame .
  • Exhibitors are confident that The Eras Tour could surpass $100 million in its opening weekend, making it one of the few films to achieve this feat in 2023. Additional showtimes are being added to meet the unprecedented demand.

Last year it was Tom Cruise . This year, it's a combination of Barbie, the 1945 nuclear testing in New Mexico, and Taylor Swift who have combined forces to save cinemas and provide a massive financial boon to exhibitors, after yesterday's Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film launched pre-sales to record-breaking numbers across the country. The Eras Tour concert film, scheduled to open in theaters on October 13th, has already raked in a stunning $26 million in presale tickets exclusively at AMC Theatres. It shattered AMC's previous single-day ticket sales record, previously held by Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home ($16.9 million), achieving this feat less than three hours after tickets became available, according to the cinema chain.

It's important to note that this $26 million figure only represents presales at AMC , implying that the actual number of tickets sold is substantially higher. AMC, being the world's largest theater chain and the film's official distributor, is not the only platform screening the Eras Tour concert film; it's also being featured in competing circuits like Regal and Cinemark, as well as various independent locations.

A $100 Million Opening Weekend is Possible

In a separate development, Fandango, the ticketing service, announced that The Eras Tour has achieved another exceptional milestone by setting a new record for the highest first-day ticket sales in 2023 . Although specific figures were not disclosed, Fandango revealed that the film's presales are on par with blockbuster hits such as No Way Home, Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens at comparable stages of their ticket sale cycles.

“Taylor Swift is giving moviegoing fans and the entire industry the ultimate gift by bringing ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert film to the big screen,” said Jerramy Hainline , senior VP at Fandango Ticketing. “Not only is Taylor Swift’s concert film the best first-day ticket seller of the year on Fandango, but the concert film is performing like the superhero she is and ranking among the best first-day ticket sellers of all time from franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics and more.”

At the level of demand being demonstrated, exhibitors are privately indicating that a $100 million-plus opening weekend may be on the table, something that only five other films have managed this year. The Eras Tour will play at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at every AMC theater location in the United States. Now due to this unprecedented demand, AMC is already adding additional showtimes to increase capacity where it’s “necessary and available.”

The Eras Tour opens on October 13, with tickets at $19.89 for adults, $13.13 for children and seniors, on standard screens. Are you ready for it?

TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film Sets Presale Records for AMC Theatres, Fandango

taylor swift eras tour movie fandango

Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert film, distributed by AMC Theatres  with tickets also sold through Fandango , has set first-day presale records for both companies.

At AMC, it set a new record for single-day presales revenue with $26M. That’s +53% higher than their prior record, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home with $16.9M. Indeed, AMC noted that Eras broke Spider-Man ‘s 24-hour record after only three hours.

At Fandango, Eras marks the best first-day ticket presales in 2023 and also ranks top 10 of all time. (Fandango did not provide exact numbers or specify which other films outranked it.)

While AMC Entertainment is serving as the film’s distributor, their inaugural title in the company’s new distribution scheme. They’ve partnered with other top North American circuits to screen the title at Regal, Cinemark, Cineplex, and Cinepolis locations.

The film, announced by Swift and AMC on Thursday , is currently on sale for Friday, October 13 through Sunday, November 5. It’s unclear if the film will extend beyond that. AMC Theatres locations will screen the film at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Tickets for  Eras cost $19.89 for adults, referencing both Swift’s birth year and her 2014 album 1989 . Tickets cost a discounted $13.13 for for children and seniors, referencing Swift’s lucky number.

Due to the high demand, AMC locations specifically will not accept free movie passes for the film, nor will members of their paid subscription tier AMC A-List be able to use their membership to reserve tickets.

The film will also be available in premium formats including IMAX and Dolby Cinema.

In response, Universal’s horror sequel  The Exorcist: Believer vacated that spot on the release calendar, moving up one week from Friday, October 13 to Friday, October 6 . Producer Jason Blum explicitly cited Swift’s concert film in a social media post, referencing Swift’s chart-topping 2017 song  Look What You Made Me Do .

Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23 #TaylorWins — Jason Blum (@jason_blum) August 31, 2023

Eras will use interspersed footage from three of Swift’s concerts in the Los Angeles suburb Inglewood, on August 3, 4, and 5. The film will run 2 hours and 45 minutes, which is actually a bit shorter than the concert’s actual runtime around 3 hours and 15 minutes.

The concert film is directed by Sam Wrench, who’s also directed recent concert films including 2022’s BTS: Permission to Dance and January’s Billie Eilish: Live at the O2 .

The tour itself, which will extend into 2024, is projected to earn an estimated $2.2 billion. The prior record holder, Elton John’s most recent Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, came in a bit shy of $1 billion.

“Taylor Swift is giving moviegoing fans and the entire industry the ultimate gift by bringing TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR concert film to the big screen,” Fandango’s Senior Vice President of Ticketing Jerramy Hainline said in a press release. “Not only is Taylor Swift’s concert film the best first-day ticket seller of the year on Fandango, but the concert film is performing like the superhero she is and ranking among the best first-day ticket sellers of all time from franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics, and more.”

Taylor Swift marks 100th show of Eras Tour: 'Feels truly deranged to say'

taylor swift eras tour movie fandango

Taylor Swift is celebrating a major milestone as she nears the end of an era.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, the pop superstar reflected on playing the 100th show of her wildly popular Eras Tour , which occurred last week in Liverpool .

"We played our 100th show on The Eras Tour (which feels truly deranged to say because this show feels new to me every time we play it)," Swift wrote, sharing a gallery of on-stage photos and one backstage snap.

"I want say thank you to our Eras Tour crew, my fellow performers and band who have now committed hundreds of hours to putting on this show and giving their all on and behind that stage. I can't believe the work ethic, creativity and dedication I get to be surrounded with every day."

She continued by thanking the crowd at her three Liverpool shows for being "so expressive and generous and endlessly FUN," adding, "AND thank you to everyone who has come to any of the shows on The Eras Tour. It's been the adventure of a lifetime because of you."

"This is the very first time I've ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," Swift told fans. "This tour has really become my entire life, it's taken over everything, like I think I once had hobbies. All I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear."

She also acknowledged the 100th show milestone, saying this number "blows my mind" and "doesn't feel like a real statistic." Swift described the Eras Tour as the "most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life."

The filmed version of "The Eras Tour," which was released theatrically last year and later debuted on Disney+, is the highest-grossing concert film of all time. It has not yet been announced if an updated version of the movie will be released after Swift tweaked her concert setlist to incorporate songs from her latest album, " The Tortured Poets Department ."

For anyone who hoped that the Eras Tour might get an extension into its third calendar year with added dates in 2025, Taylor Swift has disabused them of that notion, affirming that her global trek really will come to a close with its currently scheduled final dates in North America in December of this year.

Swift made the proclamation while performing the 100th date of the tour on the first night of a weekend engagement in Liverpool on Thursday.

Although Swift’s camp has not released any box office grosses from the tour, industry experts believe the total gross will surpass $2 billion by the time it wraps up in December. The closest runner-up will remain Elton John’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road,” which grossed $939 million over a five-year span.

Swift’s European tour will wrap up Aug. 20 with the second of two runs in London’s Wembley Stadium. From there, she is scheduled to take time off from the road before returning to U.S. stadiums in November for the first time since late 2023, doing shows in just three U.S. cities — Miami, Indianapolis and New Orleans — before the tour concludes in late November and early December with six shows in Toronto and three in Vancouver. The end of an Eras Tour: Taylor Swift opens up about tour winding down at UK concert

It’s the end of an Eras Tour .

Taylor Swift was introducing “All Too Well” on stage in Liverpool on Thursday, June 13, with a speech about it being the 100th show on a tour she said, “has definitely been the most exhausting, all-encompassing but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life” when she acknowledged that the tour would not go on forever.

"This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is gonna end in December ," she said.

"Like, that's it. And that feels like so far away from now. But then again, it feels like we just played our first show on this tour 'cause you have made it so much fun for us that we wanted to do 100 shows, 150-some shows that we have on the whole tour."

Taylor Swift launched The Eras Tour in Swift City, also known as Glendale

Swift launched the record-breaking Eras Tour with  a sold-out two-night stand at State Farm Stadium  in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, 2023, unveiling a staggering 44-song setlist in the course of a marathon set that ran more than three hours and still left fans wanting more.

Even Glendale emerged as a media darling, thanks to a symbolic rebrand as Swift City in the singer’s honor, a storyline played out on digital billboards along freeways and in Glendale's Westgate Entertainment District, where State Farm Stadium is located, welcoming fans to Swift City (where Swift launched the Reputation Tour  in that same stadium five years earlier).

For what it's worth,  we would've gone with Glendale (Taylor's Version) .

Taylor Swift Eras Tour: 5 magic moments at State Farm Stadium that Arizonans saw first

The Eras Tour is the highest-grossing tour of all time

The Eras Tour has become the highest-grossing tour of all time and the  first tour in history to generate more than $1 billion  in revenue.

There’s a concert film, naturally. Released in theaters worldwide on Oct. 13, 2023, "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" quickly overtook a Justin Bieber movie to become the  highest-grossing concert film in history .

Following The Eras Tour launch, Swift immediately shot to  No. 1 on Pollstar's Artist Power Index chart , ending 2023 as  Time magazine’s perfectly obvious choice for Person of the Year .

"Swift’s accomplishments as an artist — culturally, critically and commercially — are so legion that to recount them seems almost beside the point," Time wrote.

Then, after running down a laundry list of those accomplishments while placing her alongside Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Madonna as a pop star, Time explained why she deserved the honor this year more than any other year.

"As a celebrity — who by dint of being a woman is scrutinized for everything from whom she dates to what she wears — she has long commanded constant attention and knows how to use it," Time wrote.

“But this year, something shifted. To discuss her movements felt like discussing politics or the weather — a language spoken so widely it needed no context. She became the main character of the world."

By that point,  USA TODAY had hired its own Taylor Swift reporter  and Swift had grabbed another first —  first billionaire in history with music as the main source of income .

Swift added a 'Tortured Poets Department' era to The Eras Tour

She added an era (and new costumes) to the Eras Tour in Paris, working songs from "The Tortured Poets Department," a new album she somehow found time to record in the midst of the tour, into the setlist on opening night of another European leg in May 2024, removing "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "The Last Great American Dynasty," "'Tis the Damn Season" and "Tolerate It" to make room.

What is a fortnight? Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' vocabulary explained

Swift was feeling reflective in Liverpool as she talked about the record-breaking tour, which did 66 shows in 2023 and will hit 86 shows this year by the time it concludes with three shows in Vancouver, British Columbia.

"I think this tour has really become my entire life," she said.

"It's taken over everything. Like, I think I once had hobbies. But I don't know what they were anymore. 'Cause all I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear. When I'm not on the stage, I'm dreaming about being back on the stage with you guys."

Then she thanked the fans for all they've done to make the tour a worldwide phenomenon.

"You have done so much to be with us, right?" she said.

"You've made plans so far in advance. You planned what you were going to wear. You memorized lyrics. You got yourselves here. You figured out parking. You figured out transportation, and I want to spend my hundredth show just thinking about that and living in this moment with you and being here with you.

"And just know that I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you've put into being with us when this show reaches triple digits in shows. So thank you!"
