Gov’t Mule Announces 2023 Spring Tour

Gov’t Mule has announced an initial run of ten spring 2023 headlining tour dates. The  Warren Haynes -led blues-rock quartet’s initial batch of spring tour dates also includes slots at a number of prominent festivals.

The tour will begin in New Orleans, LA with a special evening at the  Orpheum Theater featuring support from George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners on May 5th.

From there, Haynes (guitar, lead vocals), Matt Abts (drums), Danny Louis (keys, guitar, backing vocals), and Jorgen Carlsson (bass) will stop in Memphis for a set at Beale Street Music Festival (5/6) and make their way to Cleveland, OH (5/9) and Ashland, KY (5/11) ahead of a May 12th show and Nashville, TN’s famed Ryman Auditorium .

Following a stop at the inaugural Echoland Music Festival at Live Oak, FL’s  Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park on May 13th, Gov’t Mule will continue through the southern states with shows in Birmingham, AL (5/14), Macon, GA (5/16), and Augusta, GA (5/18) before rounding out the run with a two-night home stand in Asheville, NC (5/19, 5/20). Other upcoming dates include a July 23rd performance at Patchogue, NY’s  Great South Bay Music Festival .

The tour will mark the return of Warren Haynes to the Gov’t Mule stage after a bout with COVID-19 and Influenza A caused the band to postpone its 2022 New Year’s shows . Haynes remained on the mend during the band’s January 2023 Island Exodus event in Jamaica, prompting Gov’t Mule to bring in a slew of substitute musicians .

Artist pre-sale tickets will be available Friday, March 3rd at 10 a.m. ET with local/promoter pre-sale beginning Monday, March 6th at 10 a.m. local time. Great show, but noisy crowd and not enough volume. tough to hear intricacies of orchestra.

Good band. 3 sets. Surprised Bobby didn't make an appearance since he was in town already.

Fan-fucking-tactic!! Warren never disappoints. Wasn't sure what to expect from his new band, but they were amazing!

They had a gray setlist, playing grateful dead, allman, and a variety of other cover tunes. Incredible show!

My knees are still weak!!

Very special once in a lifetime oppurtunity and it could not have been any better...SURREAL heart still pounding!

Warren Haynes so kind, so personable...so humble...the evenings event was not really publish-sized much (stroke of luck for me), held in the Clive Davis Theater (intimate 200 people max capacity) interview and private show (acoustic - about 6 numbers). Afterwords, we had the opportunity for meet n greet signing; so it goes down like this as my smile was bigger than my face and my ears were hot:

"We'll looks like I'm the last one in line, yet the LUCKIEST"... Chatting it up, ask Warren to sign my very special Jay Blacksberg book "Guitars That Jam" and if he has a favorite photo - not surprised at all he pics "Farmer"! I congratulate him on a great Conan performance from the night before and said shoot when you offered the "pic" to Conan that was awesome and how I would have loved that! Warren says "Why Thank You that was a lot of fun and Ohhh you mean like the one I have right here in my pocket"!?!

BE STILL MY THROBBING HEART...My SOUL is definitely SHINING!!! You're a beautiful man Mr Warren Haynes!!!!

GRAMMY ®  Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, producer, and Gov’t Mule front man Warren Haynes has announced the Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience. The new show will make its debut with three special nights this June, each featuring two sets of symphonic music plus a third set of Haynes’ signature rock/soul blend alongside the debut of the new Warren Haynes Band. The Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience takes place Friday, June 7th in Bethel, NY, Saturday, June 8th in Boston, MA, and Sunday, June 9th in Canandaigua, NY. All shows will be conducted by Rich Daniels of Chicago’s City Lights Orchestra, leading locally sourced orchestras in each market including the Rochester Philharmonic at the Canandaigua show. The brand-new show will explore all aspects of Warren’s incredible catalog and career including music from Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, Jerry Garcia, his solo albums, and more set to never-before heard arrangements for all songs, except the Garcia tunes which will find Haynes revisiting compositions from the groundbreaking Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration tour.

Accompanying Warren Haynes (vocals, guitar) for the new 2024 incarnation of the Warren Haynes Band will be longtime friend John Medeski (keys), Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott (bass), and previous WHB member Terence Higgins (drums). In addition to their newly announced dates, the Warren Haynes Band will head to Europe in June for a headlining set at the Holland International Blues Festival and a performance at Spain’s Azkena Rock Fest.

The Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience follows the hugely popular Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration, which featured 30 total shows throughout 2013-2016. The beloved production provided Warren the opportunity to interpret and celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia and ultimately served as inspiration to create his own symphonic event. In March 2019, Haynes, who is currently nominated for Blues Rock Artist at the 2024 Blues Music Awards, first premiered his show “Dreams & Songs – A Symphonic Journey” to rave reviews with two sold-out shows with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra in Warren’s hometown of Asheville, NC. Alongside a full orchestra and an A-list band of core musicians, the one-of-a-kind evenings featured symphonic adaptations of his career-spanning material in a unique and distinctive way, allowing Haynes to stay true to his rock and improvisational roots while also embracing the power and beauty of the symphony. The all-new Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience will expand upon the original “Dreams & Songs” shows with a remarkable three-set experience, showcasing the unmatched career of one of the most impressive guitarists and vocalists of the modern era.

Warren Haynes Band on the Now is the Time Tour

Warren Haynes has put together a superb band for a great set of shows in the Now is the Time Tour . The acclaimed guitarist and vocalist will be joined by John Medeski, Kevin Scott, Terrence Higgins , and Greg Osby for a varied summer of music.

The group begins the tour with eight European dates in June, including sets at Ulmer Zelt Festival in Germany and Azkena Rock Festival in Spain. For the first half of July, the quintet will be part of S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Fest along with Slash, Samantha Fish , and Eric Gales . That’s a world of guitar right there!  

The band has shows in Kansas City and Fort Wayne in July and a set in September at the Harvest Music Festival in New Brunswick. Also in July are six special shows billed as Dreams & Songs Symphonic Experience ; there is one addition show at Red Rocks in September.

Each night of the Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience features one set of symphonic music and one set featuring the newly reformed Warren Haynes Band.
