You continue towards Slea Head, an area loaded with ancient forts and prehistoric dwellings. The impressive views of the nearby Blasket Islands make this an excellent spot for panoramic photos. If the weather is pleasant, you can ramble along the beaches and cliff tops to fully appreciate the incredible vistas.

Arriving back amidst the brightly coloured houses and jolly harbour of Dingle, you can spend the remainder of the afternoon enjoying delicious seafood in this idyllic setting. In the afternoon, there’s a photo stop in Charlie Chaplin’s “home away from home” at Waterville, before enjoying fine views at the top of Coonmakista pass.

Winding down from the peaks, you head to Derrynane House, home of the family O’Driscoll. Daniel O’Driscoll holds a special place in Irish hearts, as an emancipating force from colonial rule. Enjoy a walk in the scenic gardens here, as well as a visit to the main house.

Continuing along the Ring, you stop at Moll’s Gap and the Ladies View. Stroll a short way from here to the Torc Waterfall before heading back to Killarney. (On some tours, days three and four are switched).

  • Kiss the famed Blarney Stone within the walls of the medieval stronghold of Blarney Castle
  • Sample the delicious flavours at the Jameson Whiskey Distillery*

Heading east through the mountains of West Cork, you weave along the Lee Valley until you reach Blarney Castle. You have time here to take in the castle grounds, and maybe kiss the famous Blarney Stone and receive the “gift of the gab”!

After this, you visit the Midleton (Jameson) Whiskey Distillery. Here you have a chance to learn the history, find out how the drink is made, and taste a little yourself.

In the afternoon, you change tour guides and pass along the beautiful coastline south of Cork before arriving in Kinsale. This charming little fishing village is your overnight stop, so you can take in the delights of the “gourmet capital of Ireland”, with its first-rate local restaurants and lively pubs. Savour your free evening whilst exploring the narrow streets and brightly coloured houses around your accommodation.

After unearthing the stories from Ireland’s past, you head east along the Copper Coast, a UNESCO Geopark famed for its beauty and intricate histories.

You continue until you reach Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city, founded by Vikings in the 9th century. Survey the wondrous craftsmanship at the Waterford Crystal factory, explore the selection of fine museums or wander the Viking Triangle on foot.

In the late afternoon, you travel north away from Waterford and over to Kilkenny, a vibrant city with an impressive castle and parklands where you stay for the evening. The famous valleys open up before you, carved by ancient glaciers. You follow winding paths that lead to Glendalough, site of an awe-inspiring 6th century monastery at the heart of the park’s woodland trails. This offers a perfect opportunity for photography, from the verdant natural setting to the much admired round tower of the monastery.

After this, you head through the centre of the National Park to cross the famous Sally Gap, before descending the short distance back to Dublin.

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Your journey at a glance

Day 1: cong abbey - ashford castle - connemara - galway.

You'll begin this once-in-a-lifetime adventure with a chauffer pickup from your chosen Dublin location, before heading west towards Co. Galway. Enjoy a relaxing refreshment stop en route, before reaching our first destination – the charming village of Cong. Perhaps best known as the location of the famous blockbuster 'The Quiet Man', this historic and traditional village boasts highlights such as Cong Abbey and Ashford Castle also. Our journey continues through the wild and barren landscapes of Connemara, driving amidst stunning lake and mountain views. Connemara offers visitors a sample of what old-fashioned Irish life was once like. The region has remained completely unspoiled – even retaining the native Gaelic language for use in everyday life – don't be surprised if you're greeted by locals with a 'cúpla focail' (few words) of Irish! You'll arrive into the fantastic Galway 'City of the Tribes' during the mid-afternoon – leaving you with plenty of leisure time to explore this beautiful city. An arty and bohemian city – Galway is deservedly in the final running to be titled 'European Capital of Culture 2020'. Highlights here include the Spanish Arch, Eyre Square and the charming Shop Street, with its traditional 'busking' musicians and one-of-a-kind Irish stores. Make the most of your overnight stay here in Galway with endless options for fantastic seafood, live music, dancing and all-round 'craic'.

Day 2: Wild Atlantic Way - Burren - Cliffs of Moher - Limerick - Killarney

Take the time for a relaxing breakfast this morning, before beginning a stunning coastal drive along Ireland's famed Wild Atlantic Way. This route has been exciting millions of visitors to Ireland over the past number of years and offers fantastic vistas including silver-sand beaches, raging ocean waves and even Dolphin and Whale sightings. Our first visit of the day is a short photo stop at the former home of Ireland's historic King of Connacht – Dunguaire Castle. Continuing south down the coast, we'll be stopping to marvel at the fantastic ‘Burren' lunar landscape. A unique limestone region, it is the one place in the world where you can find flora of Arctic, Alpine and Mediterranean origins growing side-by-side. The landscapes stretches as far as the eye can see and offers some incredible photo opportunities for you to capture. Listen in as your guide takes you through a brief history of the devastating potato famine of 1845-59, in which this region played a prominent role. As lunchtime approaches, you'll arrive in the Atlantic-side village of Doolin, where you can sample some fantastic traditional Irish food and a take a breather as you reflect on your journey so far. Your next stop is sure to be a highlight of your entire Irish vacation – Ireland's most-visited natural attraction, the CLIFFS OF MOHER – is situated just south along the coast and you'll have plenty of time here to explore this fantastic site. The Cliffs stretch some 700 feet over the wild Atlantic Ocean below and offer incredible views out as far as the Aran Islands and the Twelve Pins mountain range in Galway. See how many unique bird species you can spot here – the area is home to varieties such as puffins and gannets among others. Relax in your luxury vehicle after your cliffs visit as your guide takes you across the River Shannon and into Limerick City, enjoying a photo and refreshment stop at the beautiful Bunratty Castle, which dates all the way back to the 1400s. The final stop of the day is at the quaint heritage town of Adare, which is home to traditional thatched cottages and is regularly titled 'the tidiest town in Ireland'. Killarney, Co. Kerry is the location for our overnight stop. One of the most picturesque towns in Ireland, Killarney boasts a range of fantastic ways for you to spend the evening here. Why not head out for fantastic food, music, dancing and chat with the friendly locals of the town!

Day 3: Killarney National Park - Dingle -

Your third day will be centered around the fantastic 'kingdom' of Co. Kerry. Begin the day with a visit to the spectacular Killarney National Park, where you can enjoy an optional horse and cart, or horseback ride. Alternatively, just take a leisurely stroll and take in the breathtaking landscape. A short drive takes us as far as Dingle – a traditional fishing village, which speaks almost exclusively the Gaelic language – a really unique place for you to experience. Movie enthusiasts may also recognize the village as the location of films such as 'Ryan's Daughter' and 'Far and Away'. There'll be time for you to visit Dingle's most notable resident – 'Fungi the Dolphin', who has been charming locals and visitors for decades with his coastal acrobatics. Enjoy a scenic drive along the peninsula, taking in views out into the Atlantic, and including the Beehive Huts and the Blasket Islands. So stunning is this peninsula, that it is regularly voted the 'most beautiful peninsula in the world' by numerous photographic publications. We return to Dingle for the evening and an overnight stay. Be sure to get out and about tonight, mixing with the friendly locals – who are sure to show you a great night out in true, traditional Irish style!

Day 4: Kerry - Cork - Blarney Castle - Wicklow mountains

Your fourth day of touring opens with a drive across the Cork and Kerry mountains, en route to Co. Cork and Ireland's most famous castle – Blarney! You'll have ample time to discover this beautiful castle – dating back as earlier as the 12th century, including the beautifully maintained gardens which surround it. Of course, you can't visit Blarney Castle without making sure to kiss the Blarney Stone – which promises the Irish 'gift of the gab' (the talent for rogue-ish speech and storytelling) – so be sure to factor this into your visit! You'll pay a visit to the famous Blarney Woollen Mills, where you'll have a chance to purchase fantastic, locally knitted Woollen fashions and gifts. Following a relaxing lunch stop, its time for a scenic drive through the 'Golden Vale' area – an area of rich, green, agricultural land. Making your way back towards Dublin , you'll pass through the haunting glens of the Wicklow mountains – home to the scenes from Mel Gibson's 'Braveheart'. It is then time for your arrival back to Dublin city, with fantastic memories that will last a lifetime.

Change of plan for Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott’s Galway fans as the duo announced a major change in their Irish tour.

The group today announced that after two years of issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, they decided to replace all their Irish tour dates with one special event in Dublin.

The concert will take place on June 4 2022 at Dublin’s St Anne’s Park and will also have a special guest, 1980s hit-makers Deacon Blue.

Paul Heaton explained on Facebook: “Following nearly 2 years of frustrating postponements and due to venue availability and time constraints, Paul & Jacqui will now replace their Irish tour dates with a special one off headline outdoor show at Dublin’s St Anne’s Park on Saturday 4th June 2022, featuring support from very special guests Deacon Blue.

“We have been scouring dates and options for a replacement Belfast show but unfortunately with no luck.”

The musician continued that those who have already booked for any of the postponed dates in Galway, Dublin, Belfast, Killarney or Donegal do not have to worry as their tickets “will automatically transfer to the Dublin St Anne’s Park show.”

Paul Heaton also apologised to his fans for any inconvenience caused and said that those who will not be able to attend the event will get a full refund while the remain tickets will go on sale next Friday February 25 here.

He added: “If you would prefer not to attend you’ll be able to get a full refund from your ticket provider. Please keep hold of your tickets as these will all be valid for entry into St Anne’s Park.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change but hopefully we’ll see you all in Dublin for a great show in June.”

Under the Facebook post, many fans welcomed the news of a special show.

Someone said: “Nice one guys.. looking forward to it already”

Someone else added: “Great news! Can't wait!”

A third one commented: “What a great line up.”

However, many will not be able to make it.

Someone commented: “Aaaaaaaah Shiiiiite!!! We've waited all this time and now a date is confirmed we'll be away on holiday”

Someone else added with a laugh: Waited 2 years and have to travel 4 hours and find accommodation instead of 20 minutes away. Any chance you’d play at our wedding in July to make it up to us?”

A third one said: “Dublin are soooo lucky!!!!!”

Heaton and Abbott have had a long career in music but the duo are best remembered for their time with the Beautiful South. In the 1990s, the band had a string of smash hits in Ireland and the UK.

Heaton formed the Beautiful South in the late 1980s after fronting the Housemartins.

Live reviews

I saw Beautiful South perform "Song For Whoever" live on stage at a large outdoor festival. Dave Hemingway sang it beautifully from moment one, then joined by Paul Heaton, with his beautiful harmonies. They belted out the words, softly at first, then louder. The audience sang along and knew all the words. It was a great song with amazing lyrics that everyone knew instantly. They put on an amazing show - both Paul and Dave are genius songwriters and singer. I can't even begin to describe how great it was to see them performing live. I'd always been a fan of The Housemartins (the band they were in previously with Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim).

The crowd continued to sing along and swayed back and forth. They were singing along with raised arms, belting out the words - "I love you in the songs, I write and sing". I wondered if they knew that the song is actually about a guy who writes seduces women so he can write songs about them - "You made me so much money, I wrote this song for you". They broke up in 2007, but reformed as "The South" in 2009 with Dave, Allison and Dave Stead - but sadly Paul isn't a part of it.

Notre Dame men’s hoops defeats Valencia All-Stars on foreign tour in Spain

VALENCIA, Spain (WNDU) - The Notre Dame men’s basketball team is currently in Spain for a foreign tour until Aug. 15.

The Fighting Irish will spend three days in each of the following cities: Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona.

After an 89-65 win on Thursday against the Madrid All-Stars, Notre Dame faced off against the Valencia All-Stars on Sunday, defeating them 78-60.

This tour provides the team with a valuable opportunity to gel together during the offseason. But as head coach Micah Shrewsberry explained during a news conference last month, the practices are what he’s set on.

“These games are really important in Spain, but like these practices are really important for me,” Shrewsberry said. “I’m going to almost treat it like summer league and allow our assistant coaches to take a game and coach.

“Actually, some of the places will be really nice. I might not even show up to the games,” he joked. “Be on the bench and be on the beach in Valencia.”

You can follow the Irish as they tour and compete in Spain by clicking here .

You fly by AN-24, 40-places plane of local airlines. The flight takes an hour and fifty minutes and then after midday you arrive at Batagai, the centre of Verkhoyanskiy region. Local time is one hour ahead. The settlement is situated on the Yana River, 60 km from Verkhoyansk, the world-known Pole of Cold of the northern hemisphere, where the lowest temperature – 67.8 degrees centigrade – was registered.

At the Batagai airport a guide meets you with off-road UAZ microbus, which is perfectly fitted for this region. After the lunch served in a local cafe you are transferred to Betenkes, a small village 46 km away from Batagai. During the trip that takes about an hour and a half you can enjoy spectacular landscapes of the Verkhoyansk Mountains and attractive sites of wild nature.

In Betenkes village accommodation is provided by local families, one or two persons in the room. People are very hospitable and are glad to welcome you in the best houses of the village, tidy and clean.  There is no plumbing or water supply, like in every house in the northern villages. So you have to use a washstand and go outside when you need a toilet. If you are willing to experience a real Siberian bath the villagers are happy to provide you this opportunity. Neat comfortable beds are done for you.

You have an excursion to the local museum that exhibits the unique findings from the area that you are to visit next day. The curator of the museum can tell you many interesting stories about the Ulakhan Suullur mammoth graveyards.

2024 Best of Ireland South (Tour A) - 8 Days/7 Nights A Brother Honored

A trip to Ireland has always been on my family's bucket list. Originally my sister, younger brother and I were going to travel to Ireland on a sibling trip. Then my brother Garret got cancer, and the trip never happened. My sister Michelle and I decided that we wanted to honor Garret by going anyway and visiting those places we would have if he lived. I can't imagine any tour company could have done better. It was a wonderful combination of tourist attractions (Blarney Castle) with unique elements (tea and scones at a sheep farm.). Garret would have loved the Teeling Tour (topnotch), Blarney Castle, and the medieval feast. Often there were tears as we enjoyed this events ourselves. This was truly an unforgettable trip. Johnny was an wonderfully knowledgeable driver and guide! He inserted a few extra stops that added even more to our trip.
