This full-day nature tour offers an in-depth look at Hawaii’s youngest and largest island. From desert to rainforest, pasture to dry forest, discover diverse landscapes and 8 out of 13 climate zones in the world as you traverse the island, walk through rainforests to soaring waterfalls, and stroll black-sand beaches as you scan the horizon for green sea turtles.

You will first stop at a Kona Coffee Farm in the morning. Walk through the orchards with your guide learning about the harvesting and milling process while sampling a warm cup of Kona-grown coffee. On the leisure drive, you’ll see views of South Point, the southernmost point of the United States, and the historic Kealakekua Bay from a distance.

From there, you will have time to relax and take it all in at Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, a great place to spot marine life from the black-sand shore. Your adventure continues with exploring the wonders of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, including steam vents, past lava flow sites, the Halema’uma’u and Kilauea Iki crater lookouts, and take a short hike through the 600-foot-long Thurston Lava Tube formed hundreds of years ago.

The afternoon is filled with visits to some of the most majestic waterfalls on the Big Island. First, Akaka Falls. This towering 442-foot (135-meter) waterfall plummets into a lush ravine at the center of a state park. You’ll enjoy a short walk through the vegetation for an up-close view and plenty of photo opportunities. The next stop is a waterfall that’s small by comparison, but not by beauty: Rainbow Falls, a beautiful 80-foot (24-meter) waterfall with a giant banyan tree beside it. Continuing on the drive along the Hamakua Coast, more postcard-worthy views will pass by your window, ushering you to the next destination, the sunset views will stop you in your tracks at the Waipio Valley lookout, where a dramatic backdrop of verdant cliffs drops into the sparkling blue ocean.

Pickup Location and Time                                                                                                                                 

We pick up from all major resorts and hotels in Keauhou, Kona, Waikoloa, and Kohala Coast area between 7 am to 8 am. Actual pickup times vary depending on the exact location. The tour duration is around 11-12 hours.

What to bring and wear Wear comfortable clothing in layers as temperatures vary from warm to cool. Covered walking shoes are required.

Group Size: Tours are limited to a maximum of 13 guests per vehicle

Tour difficulty: Easy hiking over short distance. Ages 4 and older are required.

Included in the tour:  local style picnic lunch consists of teriyaki chicken, fish, vegetables, and steamed rice with assorted juices, snacks and bottled water. In addition, all park entrance fees, jackets, and rain gear.

Cancellation Policy: Minimum 24 hours notice for groups of 1-5, 48 hours notice for groups of 6 or more, and 72 hour notice for private groups to receive a full refund.

How much hiking do we do? A: We will have a couple easy hikes over a short distance on this tour. Total hike distance is about a mile.

How long do we stop at Volcanoes National Park? A: We stop at multiple attractions within the park for a total time of about 2 hours

Do we get to swim at the black sand beach or waterfalls on this tour? A: You won’t be able to swim on this tour due to time constraints. If you would like to swim at a private waterfall, please check out our Big Island Waterfalls Adventure .

Front-Row Seat Reservation

Combined front row seat weight must be under 470 lbs and individual passenger weights must be 240 lbs. Should actual weights during check-in exceed any of these limits guests will be accommodated in other seats and a refund will be made for the premium upgrade fee. Front row passengers must occupy their own seats and must be able to refrain from interfering with the pilot and instrumentation. At least one of the front seat occupants must be 15 years of age or older and capable of performing emergency aircraft egress procedures. Lap children cannot be accommodated in the front row. In the event of an emergency front row passengers must be able to receive instructions in English and be physically capable of operating exit doors. Our chair lifts are only able to access the rear row of seats therefore guests requiring a chair lift to board the helicopter cannot be accommodated in the front row.

This was a great experience to do in Hawaii. The fact I was dipping into the Pacific Ocean with sea life was beyond me! The staff here were fabulous. Super friendly, entertaining and very definitely making sure we were all good and felt safe which is important. The activity itself is a bit overpriced (like everything in Hawaii) but in terms of this group taking you and making you feel comfotable is great! I'd recommend this place for dolphin and seat turtle swimming!

It was an amazing experience. The dolphins were not initially cooperating, but that didn't stop the awesome team from giving us the opportunity to swim with the dolphins. Third time was the charm and there were dolphins all around us. We finished the tour at turtle rock and the turtles were on full display both in the water and at the surface. Ellie was an awesome captain and Rebecca was the best. She even helped my son have an amazing experience.

I have now done the Oahu dolphin tour 3x and the Oahu turtle tour 1x. I first discovered them a year ago and had the absolute privilege of meeting the owner herself! What a treat, Yuriko is the sweetest and I'm ever so thankful our paths crossed. The dolphin tour out of Waianae Harbor is most definitely a show stopper! It was my first time ever swimming in open water with dolphins. I've been lucky enough to see spinner and spotted dolphins on this tour! The last time we lucked up on a nursing pod and there were wee babies too!!! Absolutely breathtaking experience on the double decker boat with a slide, climbing wall, paddle boards etc. While we were cruising around we crossed across another pod and one spotted dolphin in particular was having a ball jumping through our wake a few times! Hahahaha it was fantastic first time experience for me on that one too. I swear he was giggling at all of us squealing at how cool he was! Lol The dolphin tour comes with a light lunch, juice, and water. The turtle tour goes out of Waikiki and its a much smaller boat, really enjoyed the small group for that tour. Max and Nate make a great team! We got the early morning tour so had a nice sunrise cruise out to the turtle spot. Lucky enough to get there so early because it got super crowded after about an hour and a bunch of other boats showed up and those guests from the other boats were loud and splish splashing and well rude. After swimming around and away from the gobs of people our group got blessed with a young turtle that popped up right in front of our group and hung out for a bit before we packed it on up and headed back. The cruise back was just as beautiful as the ride out with the sunrise. Such a peaceful and beautiful experience. Bring your own light snacks and water bottles on the turtle cruise. For both tours. All gear is provided so just bring some reef safe sunblock, wear your swimsuit and enjoy the views. Highly recommend and cannot wait to take my next swim!

The dolphin/snorkeling/water activity experience ended up being quite a letdown. While the staff and crew were friendly and ensured our safety, I couldn't help but feel frustrated by how they managed our time. Instead of maximizing our time with snorkeling and water activities, we spent an excessive amount of time fruitlessly searching for dolphins. It was disheartening to realize that we could have been enjoying the other activities instead. Despite the crew's efforts to communicate with other boats, who also had no luck finding dolphins, we ended up wasting valuable time circling the sea. The refund policy is also disappointing, as they adamantly refuse refunds and only offer a 50% discount for a future activity. However, how often do most people return to Hawaii? If you're hoping to swim with dolphins, I would recommend finding a place with a more reasonable policy.

We used this company to snorkel with sea turtles. And had an absolutely amazing time. This is a smaller company with a smaller boat. So we were only 7 people on this trip. (Other boats out in turtle canyon had upwards of 50 people. Yikes). We had a nice ride out to Turtle canyon. Sean, our swim guide, was super helpful getting us all set up. We saw lots of turtles and lots of fish while out snorkeling. Plus we saw a pod of dolphins swim by. After we were all done snorkeling, the captain took us out to chase dolphins for a bit before heading back to port. It was a really amazing morning.

Such an amazing experience with the Manta Rays! We even saw dolphins. The guides were fun, informative, and made our excursion comfortable and exciting. Would use them again! We had 2 young kids (2 and 5) that also loved it.

After 11 years without taking a two week PTO span with my company, I decided I was going all out on my trip here in Hawaii. This has been one of the more enjoyable experiences of my trip. The day prior, my friend and I decided to take the company's other tour in another location for the dolphin tour and that was pretty cool. It was done on a two story boat and we saw some pretty cool sights including baby dolphins! This day though we focused on the turtle tour. We got a little lost when we arrived because we transported ourselves--- when you arrive make sure you walk towards the front (street/city side) of the harbor. We walked towards the back and were a bit late but our tour guides were super accommodating about it. The boat is on the smaller side and the crew and gang more of an intimate setting which I preferred. Max, was super knowledgeable about the wildlife, has a marine biology and teaching background, and was excited to share that knowledge with us! They do an offering ceremony, E Ho Mai, prior to leaving for good luck which I'm all for. No provided food on this tour, so be mindful to bring your own! :) Our boat got there early so we got amazing views of the turtles and caverns before the crowds arrive which I appreciated. As it got later in the day it got pretty packed with other boats but we had already got our fill of sights by the time they arrived. Also, Captain Nate does these hilarious boomerang shots for those who are daring enough to jump off the side of the boat! Definitely check these guys out if you find yourself in Oahu.

I cannot express how much of an experience swimming with manta rays is. Even prior to the experience, we had called the phone number as we were having a hard time finding the spot. The representative was very helpful and was very patient with our frustration. After we arrived at the location, the process was made even better by the team on the boat. They played lively music and had a ton of jokes to keep everyone entertained. Not to mention they also provided snacks - chips, sodas, water, and hot chocolate for after the snorkeling portion. I would 100% try this experience again. It is amazingly beautiful and peaceful. The team was so kind to provide us with videos and photos of the underwater experience. 10/10 recommend and especially with this company.
