Review by Grant McLanaghan ★★½ 3
The Omen meets an Egyptian-curse storyline by way of The Love Boat and Jaws / The Deep . And there’s very much a disaster-movie vibe to this made-for-TV film, mainly due to the disparate characters (and their mini-storylines), who are played by a combination of old-school actors and up-and-comers.
A pleasure cruise (in what is effectively a glorified tugboat) to Mexico happens to sail close to a mooted submerged Egyptian archaeological site. Dr Isiah Bakkun (Ray Milland) is very excited about this, as are most of the other passengers. However, Rev. Charles Mather (John Forsythe) is convinced the Devil himself is concealed within one of the artefacts, namely a sarcophagus. Naturally, curiosity holds sway and when the ship breaks down, conveniently adjacent to…

Captain Andrews: You with one of the medical missions, doctor? Dr. Isiah Bakkun: Well no, I'm not that sort of a doctor, captain. My patients are beyond medical help. I'm an archaeologist. Captain Andrews: Take two aspirins and call me in a thousand years, is that it? Dr. Isiah Bakkun: You might say so, yes.

After recently watching "City of the Living Dead" I realized I have seen a shitload of movies with Christopher George. Looking kind of like a dime store Dean Stockwell, this guy was a staple of 70's and early 80's genre fare, often appearing with his wife Linda Day("Piece"s,"Grizzly","Day Of The Animal's"). Looking through his filmography, one title stood out…

Never be surrounded by ham handed river jockey’s. These waters aren’t made for ham handed river jockeys.
Review by GumballEvans ★★★★
A voyage with my exact kind of nautical nonsense. Set sail with a genuine hero, of course that hero being our captain. Broad chested, strong jawed, with immutable scruples. Along side him a bevy of sexy guys and gals, whose thirst for adventure is matched only by their thirst for sexual misconduct and want of ancient Egyptian knowledge. Those three factors creating a veritable triple Venn diagram, a Bermuda Triangle of lustful, diabolical behavior. This goulash leading to a cruise of sorts. A cruise with a destination? Into terror.

Seemed promising, but sans a couple really great scenes, was a real Cruise into Snooze.

If you've been paying attention at all, you will not be surprised that an Aaron Spelling produced tv-movie-of-the-week with an all-star cast about the SON OF SATAN ON A CRUISE SHIP would be my jam. Also, Stella Stevens.
Review by Pink⚸Meanie ★★½
Who knew the son of satan's sarcophagus would be so cute? Cozy TV thriller more focused on soap-drama than horror.

One of the best bad movies ever- I loved when the preacher's hot wife got all horny and looked like she was going to have sex with the sarcophagus of the dwarf-child Satan! But I'll always be afraid of red lights in the night, as I now know they are the eyes of Satan or worse, I passed out twice during that scene and it was towards the beginning of the movie! I can barely breathe just thinking about it even now... Spoiler: the only black character is the first one to get killed.
Review by Joachim Andersson ★★½
A boat breaks down in the Mexican gulf and it's all thanks to SATAN! You see, the egyptians placed the Antichrist in a Sarcophagus and traveled to Mexico to hide it at the bottom of the ocean! Yes, made for tv meganonsense with an all star cast including Stella Stevens, Dirk Benedict, Christopher George with wife and John Forsyth as an alcoholic priest who of course will be redeemed just before the end credits. Not much edge here, just cozy tv-fun with a breathing sarcophagus and very mild horrorcontent.

Check out this Movie Podcast review of "Cruise into Terror." Great story about that terrifying Egyptian mumbling, audio clip included. http://blogs.e-rockford.com/registerstarpodcast/2011/04/11/what-we-watched-411-submarines-bad-tv-movies-and-more/
I remember seeing that film in the late '70s as a teen. I mainly remember a song about a woman named Jenny in the beginning and ending of the film, and that Jenny was the woman who was trying to convince the boat captain who had captured the beast to let him go. "Cut the cable," she pleads. I even taped some of the movie, including the song at the end (or maybe just the song at the end) with my portable cassette recorder with it's microphone! The whole film is on YouTube. The next time I'm at a computer with sound and I have the time, I'll watch it!
‘Wokeminster’ council criticised over trans-inclusive Pride decoration plans
Campaigners accuse Westminster council of ‘indoctrinating’ Londoners and undermining ‘lesbians, gay men and bisexuals’ with amended flags
A council nicknamed “Wokeminster” by its own chief executive has been accused of trying to “indoctrinate” Londoners over plans to decorate one of the capital’s busiest shopping streets with trans-inclusive Pride flags .
Westminster City Council’s proposals to decorate Regent Street with dozens of the flags have also been criticised by gay rights activists who warn the display risks undermining the rights of “lesbians, gay men and bisexuals”.
The council has green-lit a planning application to hoist 60 flags in 20 locations between June and July as part of Pride Month.
The Progress Pride flag is an amended version of the 1978 rainbow-coloured Pride flag and includes black, brown, pink, pale blue and white stripes, to represent people of colour in the LGBTQ+ community, the trans community, and those living with HIV/AIDS.
A planning application for the display was submitted by the Crown Estate.
The council now faces the risk of legal action from Christian Concern, a campaign group, who say they will seek a judicial review if the proposed decoration goes ahead.
Andrea Williams, the group’s chief executive, said: “The Government has just announced that it will prohibit the indoctrination and confusion of primary school children with trans ideologies.
“Yet this display proposes to do just that, exposing the hundreds of thousands of children who walk up and down Regent Street, including those who visit Hamleys, to a message and symbols which will be unlawful to teach and display in schools.”
Stuart Love, the council’s chief executive, has embarked on a “relentless crusade” to drive forward diversity and inclusion policies since taking the role in 2018.
In an interview two months ago with Management Today, a business magazine, it emerged Mr Love has the phrase “Wokeminster” on the background screen of his laptop.
He told the publication: “We should all be woke, but particularly in local government where we are directly delivering services to communities.
“When things have gone wrong here, I’ve heard people say it’s because I’m too ‘woke’ or I’m focusing on the ‘woke agenda’.
“But all this has done is double down on my efforts. I lean into this term because it’s been hijacked and weaponised. I’m quite happy to be accused of being socially aware of injustice.”
The council has also come under fire from LGB Alliance, a gay rights charity, who say the planned display represents the “infiltration” of the LGB cause by “fashionable but meaningless identities”.
Infiltration of the cause
Kate Barker, the charity’s chief executive, said: “Everybody knew what the old rainbow flag stood for: the rights of lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals to live proudly, without fear, and with equal rights under the law.
“The Progress Pride represents the infiltration of the LGB cause by fashionable but meaningless ‘identities’ – which is exactly what’s happening in real life.
“People with TQ+ identities are invading the rainbow: from our lesbian bars to our gay dating sites to our politics. We hope people know what this flag stands for before they start waving it.”
A Westminster City Council spokesman said: “The council supports festivals and celebrations from our different communities across the year. Pride is an annual and established fixture and has been supported by the Council for many years.
“Pride flags are in keeping with a cosmopolitan city that welcomes millions of visitors every year. All public community celebrations have a fixed duration and are both proportionate and fitting.”
The council explained it has limited powers in preventing the display and could only block it if it was seen as a hazard or distraction to drivers as the flags are technically considered “adverts”.
A final decision on going ahead with the display will be made by a council officer next week using what is referred to as delegated powers.
Councillors are not involved with this decision.

The premise is this : after an encounter with an evil object, a pleasure cruise turns into a generalized mano-a-mano battle with the world, the flesh and the devil. It's an intriguing premise which, done well, could have resulted in an admirable horror movie. Sadly enough no one seems to have put a great deal of thought into the story and ...
