Cape Tribulation and Daintree Tour Itinerary

This 1 Day Daintree and Cape Tribulation Tour is one of Tropical Queensland’s most popular tours. On the spectacular Cape Tribulation Tour, you will have the chance to explore one of the worlds ancient tropical rainforests, dating as far back as 180 million years! Check out some Australian wildlife native to the area, including crocodiles on a wildlife spotting River Cruise, and the breathtaking Cape Tribulation.

Leaving Cairns we head straight into the Daintree National Park  to meet our 1 hour guided crocodile and wildlife spotting river cruise. Fully guided by a local biologist and run by an Eco Accredited River Cruise Company, you will be provided expert knowledge about the region and its native  inhabitants . The river is abundant with wildlife so be on the lookout for Salt Water Crocodiles , reptiles , pythons , butterflies and native birds .

Back on the safety of land, we go further into the Daintree Rainforest , the deeper we venture the more we can discover, your guide will show you some intriguing features of the jungle, including the endangered  Cassowary . Arriving at the Marrdja Boardwalk , we begin a 1 hour guided rainforest walk. Visitors come to the tropical north of Queensland primarily for one thing – the Great Barrier Reef. The reef is right on Palm Cove's doorstep but no reef tours depart directly from the Cove. However, Palm Cove is perfectly positioned between Cairns and Port Douglas - two locations with hundreds of touring possibilities just 25 and 40 minutes away respectively. Many of the tours offered in the area do have Palm Cove pickups so there isn’t much hassle for tourists getting to tours.

Great Barrier Reef Tours

There are plenty of options when it comes to seeing and experiencing the reef. Medium sized cruise liners slowly cover the reef in luxury and comfort for multiple nights. Day trip options are endless where snorkelers, scuba divers and swimmers can visit tropical islands, stay at an ocean pontoon or use the boat as a base for underwater exploration. There are dinner cruises also available.

North Queensland is more than just reef tours. The World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest is about an hour away from Palm Cove. In the Daintree tourists have the choice of river cruises, 4WD safaris and rainforest treks. Visit Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Noah Valley and the Bloomfield Track. Not quite in the rainforest but close to Palm Cove is the exciting Skyrail cableway. Skyrail in conjunction with the Kuranda Scenic Railway makes for a wonderful day out in the tropics.

Take to the air and join a helicopter tour for half an hour to an hour in length. Fly along the cost and over hundreds of individual reefs with fantastic photo opportunities along the way. For something a little more laid back but still in the air, a hot air balloon ride will do the trick. Hot air balloon rides operate away from the coast over the Atherton Tablelands but do pickups from Palm Cove accommodations.

Option 1: Traditional Aboriginal Fishing Adult $330 |Child $294|Family $1240 Discover the time-honoured fishing and gathering techniques of the Kuku Yalanji people as you explore the picturesque Cooya Beach alongside a knowledgeable member of the Kubirri Warra clan.

Option 2 : Aboriginal Art & Culture Adult $265 |Child $203|Family $887 Unleash your creativity in an art class led by acclaimed Aboriginal artist Brian ‘Binna’ Swindley at the renowned Janbal Gallery. Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Indigenous artistry.

Both options begin with a visit to Mossman Gorge, where you'll partake in a traditional 'Welcome to Country' smoking ceremony and embark on an interpretive guided rainforest walk.

Option 1 - Traditional Aboriginal Fishing

Arrive at Cooya (Kuyu Kuyu) Beach for your Coast & Cultural Walk with a Kubirri Warra clan member. Cooya Beach is the traditional fishing grounds of the Kuku Yalanji people. Your guide will take you on a journey across Cooya Beach, demonstrating and teaching traditional fishing and gathering techniques that are still used today to source food for their family.  The experience calls for a medium to high level of fitness as guests will be walking across Cooya Beach, through mudflats and wading through coastal waters up to knee height

Option 2 - Aboriginal Art & Culture

Delve into the ancient culture of local Aboriginal people. Join an art class at Janbal Gallery with Aboriginal artist Brian ‘Binna’ Swindley. Binna will share his experiences, his culture and how his people share their stories through art. Make your own canvas to take home, learning techniques from Binna

Both options include Mossman Gorge

Visit Manjal Dimbi, the traditional lands of the Kuku Yalanji people. Arrive at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, where you will be greeted with a traditional Aboriginal Welcome to country smoking ceremony. Take some time to peruse the gallery and local crafts store at the centre before journeying into the rainforest of Mossman Gorge itself with your experienced Aboriginal guide for an interpretive walk through this ancient environment. Learn about the local Kuku Yalanji people’s special relationship with the land here.

Return to the Mossman Gorge Centre for a delicious lunch at the Mayi Café.
