Indian Royal Retreat: 5-Star Tour w/visits to Varanasi and Khajuraho

My focus of this tour is to understand the Hindu philosophy and religion through the visiting some essential heritages such as Varanasi, Khajuraho, Jaipur and so on. I believe that without strong support of Mr Sshuhul Kaul, a local Indian trip manager who has tried his very best for organising of my trip travelling, a long distance from New Delhi, I would not reach my goal. Thank you so much Mr Kaul, I recommend to Indian travellers that they should book the Wanderful-Holiday Trips to India, having a manager like Mr Kaul, you will enjoy the rich cultures in India and would have so much fun with activities with kind assistance.

Colorful India with Taj Mahal & Rajasthan

We don't have anyother option to visit India. This tour was very affordable for me then we desided and go with this tour and book through tourradar.Have opportunity to visit India and experience the vibrant colors, rich history, and stunning architecture of the country. The highlight of my trip was definitely the iconic Taj Mahal and the royal state of Rajasthan. It was truly a mesmerizing journey that left me in awe and wanting to go back for more. The tour started in Delhi, where I was immediately immersed in the chaos and energy of the city. From the bustling markets to the ancient monuments, Delhi was a perfect introduction to the colorful and diverse culture of India. The tour guide Mr.Nadeem was knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into the history and significance of each place we visited. Next, we made our way to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. As soon as I caught a glimpse of the iconic white marble structure, I was blown away by its beauty. The intricate details and symmetry of the Taj Mahal were truly breathtaking. The tour also included a visit to Agra Fort, which was another impressive architectural masterpiece. Standing on the fort's walls and looking out at the Taj Mahal in the distance was a surreal experience. After Agra, we headed to Rajasthan, the land of kings and palaces. The first stop was Jaipur, also known as the Pink City for its vibrant buildings. The city was filled with stunning palaces, forts, and temples, each with its own unique story and design. The city also had a lively atmosphere with bustling bazaars, where I indulged in some retail therapy and tried out the local street food. The highlight of Rajasthan was definitely the visit to the majestic Amer Fort. The grandeur and opulence of the fort left me speechless. The intricate carvings, colorful frescoes, and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape made it a truly unforgettable experience. The tour also took us to the desert city of Jaisalmer, where we got to experience the rustic charm of Rajasthan. The camel safari through the golden sand dunes was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also got to stay in a traditional Rajasthani haveli and enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals. The trip ended in Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes. This picturesque city was a perfect blend of natural beauty and historical charm. The boat ride on Lake Pichola, with the stunning backdrop of the City Palace, was the perfect way to end the trip. Overall, my experience of India with Taj Mahal and Rajasthan was truly unforgettable. The vibrant colors, rich history, and warm hospitality of the people left a lasting impression on me. Golden Triangle with Goa & Beaches Tour

Golden Triangle with Goa & Beaches

We have no Idea for visit in India. But we have to choose Golden Triangle Tour with Goa, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. This tour combines the best of both worlds – the rich cultural heritage of the Golden Triangle and the laid-back beach vibes of Goa. The tour started in Delhi, where we were greeted by our knowledgeable and friendly guide Mr.Nadeem. We visited iconic landmarks such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and India Gate. It was fascinating to learn about the history and architecture of these sites, and our guide’s insights added a whole new dimension to the experience. Next, we headed to Agra to see the magnificent Taj Mahal. I have seen countless pictures of this wonder of the world, but nothing can compare to seeing it in person. The intricate details and the love story behind its construction were truly awe-inspiring. We also visited the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, both of which were equally impressive. From there, we made our way to Jaipur, also known as the Pink City. The city’s vibrant culture and stunning architecture left me spellbound. We visited the majestic Amber Fort, the City Palace, and the Hawa Mahal, all of which were breathtaking. The tour also included a visit to a local village where we got a glimpse of rural life in India, which was a unique and eye-opening experience. But the highlight of the tour for me was the visit to Goa. After the hustle and bustle of the Golden Triangle, Goa was a welcome change of pace. The beautiful beaches, delicious seafood, and laid-back atmosphere were the perfect way to relax and unwind. We also got to explore the charming old town of Panjim and visit the famous Basilica of Bom Jesus. Throughout the tour, our accommodations were top-notch, and the food was delicious. Our tour operator took care of all the logistics, leaving us free to enjoy the sights and experiences. The entire trip was well-organized and ran seamlessly. the Golden Triangle Tour with Goa is the perfect way to experience the diversity and beauty of India. It offers a perfect balance of history, culture, and relaxation. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable travel experience.

5star Indian Golden Triangle Tour

We had an awesome trip to delhi Agra Jaipur, which was arranged by ghum India ghum team. From day one to the very end of the trip everything was well planned and perfect. We had no worries. Our dear driver bhayya...deepak bhayya... He was soo cool and really felt safe. He was like our bodyguard. He was there with us from day 1 and soon became like a family. He took care of even the littlest of things like our craving for desi foods. A memorable trip and soon wish to go again on another trip again with our deepak bhayya.

What people love about India Tours from Delhi

With its vacations, this journey to the Golden Triangle is wonderful! Our driver and all aspects of the hotels and stops were excellent given the time constraints, making them our favorite part of our vacation in India.
All family visit India and was blown away by the vibrant colors, rich culture, and fascinating history of this incredible country. The highlight of my trip was definitely visiting the iconic Taj Mahal, a true masterpiece and one of the most famous landmarks in the world. The Taj Mahal is even more stunning in person than in pictures. The intricate details and perfect symmetry of the white marble structure left me in awe. I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and serenity as I walked through the gardens and admired the beautiful reflection of the Taj Mahal in the pool. It truly is a testament to the love and devotion of Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife. But my journey through India didn't end with the Taj Mahal. I also had the opportunity to explore the state of Rajasthan and was mesmerized by its colorful cities, bustling markets, and majestic forts. Each city had its own unique charm and I loved getting lost in the narrow streets, trying local street food, and bargaining for souvenirs. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the city of Jaipur, also known as the 'Pink City' due to its stunning pink-hued buildings. The City Palace, with its blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, was a sight to behold. I also had the chance to visit the famous Amber Fort and was amazed by its grandeur and intricate design. Another must-see in Rajasthan is the city of Udaipur, also known as the 'City of Lakes'. The beautiful Lake Pichola and its surrounding palaces and havelis were simply breathtaking. And no visit to Udaipur is complete without a boat ride on the lake, watching the sunset over the city. But it wasn't just the sights that made my trip to India unforgettable, it was also the people. Everywhere I went, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. I had the chance to interact with locals and learn about their way of life, which was a truly enriching experience. Of course, no trip to India is complete without trying the delicious cuisine. From spicy curries to mouth-watering street food, my taste buds were constantly delighted. And let's not forget the colorful and vibrant clothing worn by the locals, which added to the overall charm of the country. In conclusion, my trip to India was a truly unforgettable experience. From the majestic Taj Mahal to the colorful cities of Rajasthan, I was left in awe of this beautiful country. I highly recommend anyone visiting India to include the Taj Mahal and Rajasthan in their itinerary for a truly colorful and cultural experience.

  • The Jama Masjid is India's largest mosque and definitely a sight to see with its large archways and two tall towers! It's also located right next to Old Delhi's Red Fort area which is an absolutely stunning sight to see in the old city and was the home of the emperors until the mid-1850's.
  • No trip to India would be complete without immersing yourself in one of their many wonderful markets. Located near to the Red Fort, you'll find anything from spices, nuts, herbs, tea, rice, and so much more! Be prepared as the smell from the spices can be overwhelming on your first time.
  • While the Taj Mahal isn't within Delhi, it is definitely one of the top travel destinations and is located only 3 hours away from the city and is a very worthwhile day trip.

Travel Tips

  • While the official language in Delhi is Hindi, English is very widely spoken as it is considered the language for business/government use. You shouldn't have a problem being understood when asking for help or directions.
  • When traveling around India, you cannot use foreign currency so be sure to convert your dollars or other currency to the Indian rupees before you go around. Many hotels, stores and restaurants will accept credit cards, but for taxis, tours, and street vendors you will need local currency for it.
  • India has different seasons, so be sure you check what the weather will be like when you go. Spring time (May/June) can be terribly hot followed by monsoon season from June – August. So best to go before spring or during fall to get the perfect weather.

India Experience

22 days | discover the highlights and contrasts of india, north and south..

Traveller at the Taj Mahal in Agra

Experience the real India on this comfortable introduction to the cultures of the north and the natural beauty of the south. Travelling from Delhi to Kovalam, see what India has to offer on a 22-day adventure. The country’s highlights and hidden jewels are revealed against a backdrop of green through the Western Ghats and in the vibrant towns of Rajasthan. Visit India's bustling cities contrasted with the quiet repose of tiny fishing villages, along with tea gardens, tribal homes and colonial enclaves. This wonderful introduction to India includes lavish palaces, vibrant bazaars, and the incomparable Taj Mahal, so take time to discover its beating heart.

Trip overview

  • Visit the Taj Mahal - one of the Seven Wonders of the World - and learn of its lesser-known poetic history from a local expert among the surrounding gardens.
  • Soak up the unique atmosphere of a candle flower ceremony at dusk on the Ganges River in Varanasi, then wake up early for a sunrise boat ride, where you'll watch the light gradually illuminate the many ghats and temples along the river.
  • See behind the scenes of local cuisine during cooking classes in local homes, an insightful ayurvedic cooking demonstration in Kochi and lovingly made Keralan favourites at a restaurant that provides training and employment to local women.
  • Explore Puducherry and discover its colonial French Quarter and colourful multi-tiered temples, and cruise along the dreamy palm-lined waterways of the Kerala backwaters.
  • Take a nature walk in the acclaimed Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, looking out for tiger tracks with your local village guides.
  • By travelling on this trip, you'll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Eden Reforestation Projects. Donations help them provide local employment opportunities and tackle climate change one tree at a time as they restore forests across 10 different countries.
  • Don’t underestimate the weather at any time of year in India. The weather also varies greatly from north to south. In the summer months, the heat can be extreme. In winter, some travellers have been surprised by the cool evenings. A hat, sunscreen, and clothing that can be layered will serve you well year-round.
  • This trip has some early starts, allowing you to see more of the country in the captivating morning light. Please refer to the Itinerary for more details.
  • Flights and trains can be delayed in northern India between December and February due to fog.
  • We’ll be visiting multiple temples during the trip and during these visits, you must wear clothing that covers the arms, legs, and shoulders.
  • As we'll be walking through varying terrain in national parks and villages, a basic level of fitness and comfortable walking shoes are essential. Leech socks will be provided for the Periyar nature walk.

Namaste! Welcome to India. Your adventure begins in Delhi, where you’ll have a complimentary airport transfer to the hotel. Tonight, meet your group and trip leader at a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you arrive early, get out and explore at your own pace. Filled with historical sites from different eras, museums, galleries and endless bazaars, this thriving capital has plenty to do and see. Maybe head to the Red Fort or the Lotus Temple, get a photo at India Gate or explore the World Heritage-listed Humayun’s Tomb. Later, why not get your new group together for a welcome meeting and sample of this country’s famed food.

There are no meals included on this day.

  • Complimentary Arrival Transfer

The arrival transfer is only valid if you arrive on Day 1 or if you have booked pre-trip accommodation through Intrepid. Please provide your flight details at the time of booking or at a minimum 14 days prior to travel.

It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance and emergency contact details at this time. If you are going to be late please let your travel agent or hotel reception know. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.

Early this morning, you’ll take a train to Varanasi. This holy city is awash with shrines and temples and is the ultimate destination for Hindu pilgrims who travel from far and wide to experience the spirituality of this haven. When you arrive this afternoon, you’ll head out on a walking tour of the Old City, through narrow laneways packed with stalls and shops, past the dhobi wallahs and the endless temples that echo with bells and permeate the aroma of incense. This evening, soak up the unique atmosphere with a candle flower ceremony at dusk. A beautiful ritual to witness, you’ll watch on as locals give offerings of small candles cradled by leaves and flowers to the Goddess Ganga – then float the glowing hand-made pieces down the river as the sun sets in the background.

  • Varanasi - Leader-led Old City walking tour
  • Varanasi - Sunset candle flower ceremony

Your travel time today will be approximately 8 hours.

The train from Delhi to Varanasi departs at 6am.

Today starts early, but it’s very much worth it – you’ll take a sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, where you can watch the light gradually illuminate the many ghats and temples along the river. After, there’s the option to take a trip to nearby Sarnath – one of the four main Buddhist pilgrimage destinations. The site is where Buddha preached his message of the path to enlightenment and features a number of stupas and museums to explore. Your afternoon is free to spend how you wish – maybe explore the laneways and alleys behind the ghats or pick up some keepsakes from the array of excellent local silk. For dinner, you’ll enjoy a group meal of vegetarian thali at a local restaurant. A thali is a popular style of serving food in India, offering a selection of dishes, sides and condiments on a single large plate.

  • Varanasi - Sunrise Ganges boat trip
  • Varanasi - Sarnath - INR315

This morning, take a flight back to India’s buzzing capital. When you arrive, check in to your accommodation, freshen up and then enjoy a free afternoon to spend how you wish. Maybe visit Swaminarayan Akshardham, set on a vast 100 acres of gardens. Maybe just go searching for the perfect street food snack or go on a photo-taking walk.

Your travel time today will be approximately 1.5 hours.

Today you’ll head to Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital, by private vehicle. Arrive in the Pink City and discover its trademark pink hues on a walking tour with a local guide. Navigate crowded streets packed with cars, camel carts, rickshaws, trucks and bicycles, past traditionally dressed Rajput men wearing colourful turbans and sporting magnificent moustaches. Make a photo stop at India's most photographed building after the Taj Mahal – the Hawa Mahal or 'Palace of the Winds'. You will also have the option of visiting Jantar Mantar – an observatory filled with instruments to track the stars, built by the founder of Jaipur, Maharaja Jai Singh. Tonight, maybe continue to indulge in the wonders of Indian culture by watching a Bollywood blockbuster – an elaborate combination of action, romance, drama and music, at the spectacular Raj Mandir Cinema.

  • Jaipur - Orientation walk with a local guide
  • Jaipur - Bollywood Movie at Raj Mandir Cinema - INR400
  • Jaipur - Jantar Mantar Observatory - INR200

Your travel time today will be approximately 5 hours.

An optional early morning hot air balloon experience is the perfect way to start the day – wake early for a breathtaking overhead view of the Pink City bathed in early morning light. Later, climb the twisting roads of the Aravalli Hills and round the final bend to see the massive Amber Fort loom into view. You’ll head on a walking tour to explore the Amber Fort with a local guide – the legacy of a fallen empire, the opulent palace is a superb example of Rajput architecture and is packed with elaborate rooms of lavish murals, frescoed arches, and delicate jali work. Don’t miss the sparkling Mirror Palace, covered floor-to-ceiling in thousands of reflective tiles, the hall becomes a dazzling fantasy with the light of a single match. The afternoon is free to explore more of Jaipur that you might have missed yesterday. This evening, meet your group and leader for a special cooking class in a local home for dinner. You’ll learn the secrets, flavours and spices of traditional specialities from your welcoming hosts and then feast on your creations.

  • Jaipur - Amber Fort
  • Jaipur - Cooking class in a local home
  • Jaipur - Balloon Safari - USD280

Leave the Pink City behind and travel by private vehicle to Agra. Along the way, stop at Chand Baori stepwell – built over 1000 years ago, this is one of the largest stepwells in India. The architectural wonder was once a gathering place for locals and royals alike. The series of narrow steps creates a beautiful pattern that leads to a body of water below. When you arrive in Agra, you’ll visit one of the finest forts in India – Agra Fort. Enter the dark red sandstone stronghold of the fort, part fortress, part palace and part prison, and search through throne rooms and tiny but incredibly decorated mosques. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you please. Maybe ask your leader for the best dinner spots for a local feed.

  • Abhaneri - Chand Baori stepwell
  • Agra - Agra Fort

Your travel time today will be approximately 4.5 hours.

This morning is a real treat – bright and early, you’ll pay a visit to the spectacular Taj Mahal, one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World. Best known as a monument to love and loss, the 17th-century wonder is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture and is surrounded by trimmed English gardens. Take your time here, snap your bucket list photos and take in the majesty of one of the most famous buildings in the world. After, you’ll take an express train journey to Delhi. When you arrive, maybe head to the legendary Connaught Place for some souvenir shopping or take the chance to rest and recharge. This evening, maybe head out for a streetside chaat or ask your leader for the best spot for aloo kulche and chole (flatbread with a spiced mashed potato filling served with chickpea curry) with a side of pickles (and a mango lassi if the spice gets a bit much).

  • Agra - Taj Mahal

Your travel time today will be approximately 2 hours.

After breakfast this morning, your leader will take you to the city’s historic heart with a guided walking tour of Old Delhi. Set off on the city's modern metro system, then get a taste of India's famed public transport with an optional cycle rickshaw ride through chaotic streets, such as the famous Chandni Chowk. Visit the Jama Masjid – Delhi's oldest mosque and one of its most impressive buildings, then visit the Sheeshganj Gurudwara (Sikh Temple) to learn about the Sikh religion. After a jam-packed morning of sightseeing adventures, rest your feet and refuel over a lunch of local favourites. The rest of the day is free for further exploration – maybe wander around Humayun's Tomb, the first garden tomb in India built in 1570, if you haven’t already. Tonight, why not head out to a farewell dinner with your group and hit the nightlife of Delhi to celebrate a trip well-travelled.

  • Delhi - Leader-led Old Delhi walking & rickshaw tour
  • Delhi - Visit to the Jama Masjid Mosque
  • Delhi - Sheeshganj Gurudwara (Sikh Temple)
  • Delhi - Humayun's Tomb - INR600
  • Delhi - Qutub Minar - INR600

Today, take a flight from Delhi to Chennai to join the second stage of your trip. This flight is unaccompanied, but your leader will provide you all the details, plus where to meet a representative on arrival in Chennai to be transferred to your accommodation. Chennai – previously known as Madras – is South India’s largest, and the perfect place to dive straight into the culture, religion and cuisine of the region. There will be a group meeting to discuss the next stage of your itinerary and you're welcome to attend, as this is a great chance to meet your new fellow travellers and your new Indian leader.

  • Hotel (1 night)

As this is a combination trip, the travellers in your group and your group leader are likely to change today. There will be a group meeting to discuss the next stage of your itinerary so please attend, and this is also a great chance to meet the new group. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.

From Chennai, drive along the scenic East Coast Road to the fishing village of Mamallapuram. Join a local guide for a tour around the town’s laidback beaches and temples, keeping an eye out for the sculptures and carvings dotted around the place. Visit the incredible 8th-century Shore Temple and its mandapams (carved pillars) to pay your respects to the deity Shiva. Continue onto Puducherry (Pondicherry) in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner at a restaurant in the White Town area of the city. Known for its French colonial-era villas and leafy streets, a post-dinner stroll along the beachfront promenade is a lovely way to end your day.

  • Mamallapuram - Shore Temples guided tour

Today’s total travel time is approximately 3 hours.

Explore Puducherry, which was under French rule until 1954, and the European style of the town extends from beautiful colonial architecture right down to the uniforms of the police. Enjoy a walking tour to see local temples, the French Quarter, and the spiritual community of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. The rest of the day and evening is free. Puducherry’s food scene is truly unique, as Indian classics have a distinctly French spin on them – be sure to ask your leader for tips on the best places to grab dinner this evening.

  • Puducherry - Leader-led French Quarter walking tour

Drive to Karaikudi today. On arrival, check into your heritage property accommodation, an elegantly decorated mansion built in 1902. After settling in, take a walk around the village with your leader to learn about the lives of the local communities. Along the way, you’ll stop off to admire havelis – these old mansions were ornately decorated as a display of wealth, and many remain around this region today.

  • Karaikudi - Havelis
  • Karaikudi - Leader-led village walk

Today’s total travel time is approximately 6 hours.

Continue on to Madurai. Here you will wander through the colourful markets and bazaars, then visit the Sri Meenakshi Temple in the city’s centre. Still in use today, this ancient temple is a maze of lamp-lit corridors leading to shrines where traditional rituals take place, including the remarkable thousand pillar hall. You might also like to explore the National Gandhi Museum (optional), dedicated to the life and achievements of the 'Father of the Nation' and the leader of India's fight for independence. Your evening is then free to spend as you please.

  • Madurai - Sri Meenakshi Temple guided tour
  • Madurai - Leader-led walking tour
  • Madurai - Gandhi Museum - Free

Today’s total travel time is approximately 2 hours.

The day is yours for your own explorations of one of India’s oldest cities. Madurai has a wealth of treasures to uncover, from buzzing bazaars and tailors’ markets to roadside stalls selling cold glasses of jigarthanda and savoury idli rice cakes. Perhaps visit the Art Museum to see a superb collection of carvings, or check out the Tirumalai Nayak Palace. Be sure to ask your leader where to find local favourites like crispy dosa, fluffy idiyappam and sweet halwa.

Drive through rubber and pineapple plantations to Thekkady. Your accommodation here is on the outskirts of Periyar National Park, perched lakeside in the ranges of the Western Ghats. The sanctuary surrounds a picturesque lake, which was formed as a result of a dam that was built in 1895. It ambles through the contours of the wooded hills and is a permanent source of water for local wildlife. This afternoon, take a tour of a local spice plantation. Here you’ll gain insight on the plant life, spices, herbs, fruits and flowers of the region, and how they are used in Ayurvedic medicine. Find out how the spices are grown, harvested, dried and prepared. Later in the day, you may like to attend a demonstration of Indian martial arts (kalaripayattu) at the Kadathanadan Kalari Centre.

  • Periyar - Spice plantation visit

Kerala is a dry state, with alcohol sales and consumption limited to bars in 5-star hotels.

In the morning, take a guided nature walk in the acclaimed Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary (approximately 3 hours). If you’re lucky, you could spot tiger tracks, spotted deer, Indian elephants and gaur – the world's largest species of buffalo. You may also have the chance to see Bonnet macaques and the Malabar giant squirrel, a species native to India. In the afternoon, unwind with an optional ayurvedic massage or just relax in this scenic setting. Be welcomed into a local home this evening, for a dinner cooked with fragrant local produce by a palate that is finely tuned to the pepper, cloves and cinnamon that are prevalent in many Keralan dishes. Sure to be a highlight of your trip, don't forget to ask for tips on how to recreate these delicious dishes in your own home.

  • Periyar - Guided nature walk
  • Periyar - Home-cooked meal
  • Periyar NP - Ayurvedic Massage - INR700

Our usual route is the Green Zone walk in the National Park. Tigers are extremely rare and shy in Periyar. The local guides are villagers who have lived in the area for generations and are very knowledgeable about the area’s flora and fauna. Bring water, we start early but it gets very hot and humid later in the morning. Leech socks will be provided as this is one critter that we often do spot!

In the morning, drive to Kochi, aka Cochin. Today is a long driving day, but your journey will be broken up with plenty of stops, and the fantastic scenery is sure to keep your occupied. Kochi is a veritable melting pot of Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese and British influences. On arrival, you may like to stretch your legs and wander along the beach at sunset.

Today’s total travel time is approximately 8 hours.

Visit the Dutch Palace (Mattancherry Palace), which was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese before the Dutch renovated it. Then check out the oldest functioning Jewish synagogue in India, the Paradesi Synagogue. For lunch today, you’ll meet a local expert and learn all about Satvik Bhojan, the ayurvedic diet. Take part in a cooking demonstration using the methods and recipes discussed, then enjoy the dishes for lunch. In the evening witness a classic Kathakali performance, a dramatic dance that combines storytelling with physical technique.

  • Kochi - Leader-led Fort Kochi walking tour
  • Kochi - Kathakali performance
  • Kochi - Jewish Synagogue
  • Kochi - Dutch Palace
  • Kochi - Ferry to Mattancherry

Drive from Kochi to Kumarkom to your resort along the riverside. This sleepy village is quintessential Kerala backwaters, with its shady palm trees, winding waterways and traditional houseboats. On arrival, get out on the water and take a short cruise around the backwaters. Sail under palm trees and weave in between the rice fields while you see local residents going about their daily lives in this unique and tranquil environment. Dinner tonight is at a women-run restaurant, serving up fish curries, dal and idli. This venue is a favourite for its excellent local flavours and for the training and employment opportunities it provides to local women.

  • Kumarakom - Backwaters boating excursion

Today’s total travel time is approximately 1.5 hours.

In the morning, drive to Kovalam via Kerala’s capital, Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram). Kovalam was once a quiet coastal village known for its export of fresh fish and coconuts, but is now one of India’s more popular beach resorts. Visit the ancient temple of Attukal Bhagavathy in the afternoon. If you have free time, explore the old signaling station of Anchuthengu Fort or the 16th-century Koyikkal Palace. Head out with the group for a farewell meal together tonight – the local cuisine is known for its use of coconuts, curry leaves and fresh seafood, so dig in while you have the chance.

Anil at Intense helped us put together the best holiday of our lives. We gave him the duration, budget and rough idea of destinations and he came up with a fantastic itinerary taking in Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra and Varanasi. Nothing was too much trouble and the trip was definitely better because of using Intense and I think cheaper than booking myself from the UK.

Our Client’s Words

experience india tour delhi

"World Travel Experiences organised a 16 day trip through Rajasthan and to Agra (Taj Mahal) and Varanasi for me and my family. We travelled by car (with a driver arranged by WTX) and by train and plane. All arrangements (accommodation, transfers, train, plane tickets) were made by WTX and went smoothly and to schedule (except an overnight train which was very late, and not under the control of World Travel Experiences, but our guides from the company waited with us and were there to pick us up when we arrived 3 hours late). Prompt, courteous, friendly, helpful service from the company who modified the itinerary to suit our needs. I can recommend World Travel Experiences to anyone wanting a personalized tour in India!"
"My wife and I have had a wonderful trip with World travel experiences, to the south of India. Our experience was excellent. In the first trip the only hotel that was not to our satisfaction was the one we chose, not World travel experiences, and they rectified the problem rapidly. Their attention to our wishes, their rapid responses to our email questions before the trip, and their top flight staff, drivers and other personnel made our stays in India absolutely first rate. We would not hesitate to use them again and take pleasure in recommending them to anyone planning a trip to India."
"Spent three weeks on tour with the assistance of World Travel Experiences. We had an amazing experience. At all times we felt safe, well informed and had a great driver. Our driver, Rameshji, was always open to our last minute requests or to do a U-turn so we could go grab a bite from a busy food store! Nothing was ever too much for him. Always on time in the mornings at the hotel with our cold bottles of water to get the day started. The office team were amazing in assisting to coordinate all the activities - some which we booked whilst on tour. We will be back to India in the future and will be enlisting the assistance of World Travel Experiences yet again. "
"Our experience in India and Nepal with world travel experiences was excellent . Thank you for a well planned trip. Our driver was fantastic and seemed to be an very experienced driver. The hotel were great that you booked us in, just a few minor details like wi-Fi not always working, and probably because we didn't go on holiday in peak season the hotel restaurants had set times "
"I was beyond impressed by the entire trip! World Travel Experiences and all it's staff really did everything in their power to make this trip a memorable one. They thought of EVERYTHING. Our driver had cold water for us at every single stop ( and in the trunk of the car in a cooler throughout the 7 days), he also showed us and explained things to us along the way that we passed by while driving from city to city. All of the hotels we stayed at exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend traveling with World travel experiences and to India to anyone! "
"In recent time when my exams were over, we have used "World Travel Experiences" for our trip to India. I have visited the glory of india with my friends. it was an amazing experience and i think the high quality services were provided to us. This company has a well managed system. Enjoyed a lot. Thanks to World Travel Experiences."
"World Travel Experiences is wonderful. I've used them twice during trips to India and they are very helpful at arranging drivers, guides, and more. They also do a great job checking in while on the trip to ensure everything is going well. Overall, it was a wonderful experience! "

Marshmello: Performing in India is always an electrifying experience, but this Holi tour was truly special

T he recently concluded Sunburn Holi Tour, featuring the GRAMMY-nominated DJ and producer Marshmello, and presented by Asia’s largest dance music festival concluded on a successful note with a record-breaking 70,000 footfall across all centres.

The American electronic music sensation delivered smashing performances across Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune over the Holi weekend, dishing out his some of his biggest hits including ‘Happier’, ‘Alone’, ‘Friends’, ‘Blocks’, ‘Wolves’, ‘Find Me’ and ‘Silence’.

Delivering an unparalleled entertainment extravaganza, concert goers were treated to an unforgettable and electrifying experience, proving the enduring appeal of the 31-year-old artist. The multi-city tour was a visual and auditory spectacle, featuring world-class production, stunning visuals and potent on-stage theatrics and culminated in a perfect celebration to bid farewell to the festive occasion of Holi. Fans across all ages, especially young children, enjoyed the first-time with the unlimited organic colors. Curated family zone added a family touch to the festival's vibrant atmosphere.

In a crescendo of pulsating rhythms and captivating melodies, the superstar music producer set the stage ablaze as he infused a local element to his set by playing out Bollywood classics like Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Rang Barse’ and Shahrukh Khan’s ‘BIBA’.

Supporting acts such as DJ Ganesh, MC Altaf, Sammohit, DJ Sahil, VIISHVEK, DJ LIJO perfectly complemented Marshmello’s infectious dance-infused energy.

Taking Mumbai audiences by complete surprise, the global superstar invited actress Sunny Leone on stage who performed on ‘Baby Doll’ followed by rapper Badshah who sampled his latest trending track ‘Daaku’ from his third studio album ‘Ek Tha Raja’ whilst waiving the Indian flag, and while Armaan Malik closed the night by teasing his unreleased collaboration with Marshmello.

Reflecting on the tour, Marshmello stated, "Performing in India is always an electrifying experience, but this Holi tour was truly special. Feeling the energy of over 70,000 fans and seeing the joy on their faces was incredible.

A big shout out to Sunny Leone, Badshah and Armaan Malik for joining me on stage in Mumbai and being absolutely terrific. Thank you Sunburn for another unforgettable visit. I'm already looking forward to coming back!"

Karan Singh, CEO, Sunburn, stated, "This year’s Sunburn Holi Tour with Marshmello was a monumental success, setting a new benchmark for live events in India. We are thrilled to have brought together such a massive crowd, celebrating with colors, music, and unity. Marshmello’s magnetic performance and the overwhelming response from the audience underscore the universal language of music. We are grateful for the love and support and promise to keep elevating the live entertainment experience for our fans."

BREAKING: Harvey Weinstein hospitalized ahead of court appearance

They were promised jobs in Russia. They ended up fighting in Ukraine.

Indians hired to fight Russia's Ukraine war - 28 Feb 2024

SRINAGAR, India — Across India , families are hearing similar stories from men who went abroad in search of work: They were lured to Russia with promises of jobs as cooks or housekeepers, only to find themselves forced to fight alongside the Russian military in its war against Ukraine .

Some families, frustrated by what they say is a lack of support from the Indian government, say they feel they have no choice but to travel to Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine to get their loved ones back.

“For months, the families have been awaiting government action to bring the Indian citizens back home, but so far no progress has been made,” Raja Begum, 65, told NBC News last month as she sat in the yard of her two-story home in Poshwan, a village in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Begum’s son Azad Yousuf Kumar, 31, left India for the United Arab Emirates in December. She said he had been promised a housekeeping job in Dubai by a consultant there identified as Faisal Khan, who often advertised such jobs on his YouTube channel, Baba Vlogs. In exchange for the job, Kumar paid a fee of 300,000 rupees, or $3,600, she said.

Once Kumar arrived, however, “he was informed that there were no available jobs in the UAE,” said Begum, who has been exchanging voice messages with him. Kumar told his mother that Khan said he could still get a job in another country, and convinced him to travel to Russia to work in a kitchen.

Instead, Begum said, Kumar was sent to a military training center in Moscow as soon as he landed. There he underwent 15 days of weapons training along with several other men from India and Nepal before being deployed to fight against Ukrainian forces on the front lines, Begum said, having been forced to sign a contract in a language he did not understand.

“My son had received injuries during the training period,” Begum said. “He was not allowed to have a proper rest and instead was sent close to the border where a deadly battle was going on.”

Kumar’s older brother, Sajad Ahmad Kumar, said Kumar told him that at least a dozen men from India had been trapped in a similar manner by people affiliated with the Baba Vlogs account, which had more than 350,000 subscribers as recently as February but has since been deleted.

Attempts by NBC News to contact Khan and the Baba Vlogs team for comment were unsuccessful.

Indians hired to fight Russia's Ukraine war - 28 Feb 2024

India’s Central Bureau of Investigation said last month that it was aware of at least 35 Indian nationals who had been trained for combat and sent to fight in Ukraine against their will after being recruited for jobs in Russia through agents or social media. Some of them have been “grievously injured,” the agency said.

The agency said it had arrested 35 people on suspicion of being involved in human trafficking , and that it had seized about 50 million rupees ($600,000) in cash as well as incriminating documents and electronic records in searches around the country.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said officials were doing their best to get the men home as soon as possible.

“We have also told people not to venture in the war zone or get caught into situations which are difficult,” ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, adding that India was in regular touch with Russian authorities in New Delhi and Moscow and was deeply committed to the “welfare of all Indians.”

India has ties with both Russia and the West and has tried to remain neutral in the Ukraine war, calling for peace talks while refraining from condemning President Vladimir Putin ’s invasion. It has also increased purchases of Russian oil that is steeply discounted amid Western sanctions.

Sajad Ahmad Kumar said his brother and others are now in Russian-occupied Ukraine after crossing the Black Sea under the command of two officers from the Russian army.

“Things have eased a bit for them,” he said. “He used to call from someone’s phone but now he has got his own connection.”

He said Kumar and several other Indians had approached their embassy in Moscow for help getting home but that officials there “are not taking things seriously.”

The Indian Embassy in Moscow did not respond to requests for comment.

At least two Indian citizens have been killed while fighting alongside the Russian army on the Russia-Ukraine border. They were identified last month as Hemil Ashvinbhai Mangukiya and Mohammad Asfan, from the states of Gujarat and Telangana.

Mangukiya’s father, Ashvinbhai Mangukiya, said his son had been hired as a helper for the Russian army.

“He was supposed to be stationed at Moscow, but he was forced to participate in the ongoing war between the two nations,” he said.

Mangukiya went to Russia to collect his son’s body after he was killed in the Donetsk region in February. Like others, he has filed cases with the police against Khan and others associated with Baba Vlogs.

“Baba Vlogs is running a nexus,” he said. “The government should take cognizance and arrest all individuals involved in this criminal activity.”

Abdul Rouf, whose son Abdul Nayeem left for Russia in December, said he had spoken to Khan and others at Baba Vlogs when Nayeem, 30, told him they had gotten him a similar job as an army helper in Russia when he approached them in Dubai.

“The job agent assured me that he will not be handed a gun to fight in Ukraine or anywhere else,” said Rouf, a resident of Gulbarga city in the Indian state of Karnataka. His son has since told him that he is in Ukraine, and Rouf is planning to travel to Russia to try to help him.

Mohammad Mustafa, another Karnataka resident whose son is stranded in Russian-occupied Ukraine, said he was tired of waiting for news and was going to Russia himself.

“We can go to any extent to retrieve our children,” he said.

“Two Indian citizens have already been killed and we don’t want to lose any other person.”
