Since the group's formation in 1973, JOURNEY has earned 19 top 40 singles, 25 gold and platinum albums, and has sold over 100 million albums globally. Journey to celebrate 50th anniversary with 30 shows in 2024: See where they're headed

Journey is continuing the celebration of its five-decade career with a run of 2024 shows.

The 50 th Anniversary Freedom Tour kicks off Feb. 9 in Biloxi, Mississippi and will play 30 dates in North America through April 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Sept. 29 via ticketmaster.com.

Toto, which supported Journey on their tour earlier this year to celebrate their "Freedom" album, will again join Journey founder, guitarist Neal Scho n, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, lead singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen as show openers.

Journey's tour finds the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers tearing through a set list of anthems including "Any Way You Want It," "Faithfully," "Be Good to Yourself" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'."

When "Freedom" arrived in July 2022, Schon told USA Today that the album title was originally tapped for the band's 1986 release, "Raised on Radio," but then-singer Steve Perry didn't like it, "so we sat on it for many years … when we were tossing around album titles said, why not just call the whole thing 'Freedom?' It's for the times right now."

Schon was also sanguine when reflecting on the band’s legacy.

"It’s quite an accomplishment and I’m very proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve gotten through emotional and personnel changes and survived," he said. "It’s pretty mind-boggling but also a lot of hard work."

30-city outing begins next February

Journey are once again headed on the road with special guest Toto for their “Freedom Tour 2024” across North America.

The 30-city trek kicks off on February 9th in Biloxi, Mississippi, and will make stops in cities including Raleigh, North Carolina; Baltimore, Maryland; Louisville, Kentucky; Calgary, Alberta; and Las Vegas, Nevada before wrapping up on April 29th in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Journey have announced a 38-city North American Tour for spring 2023.

The band's Freedom Tour 2023, promoting their 15th studio album Freedom, released in July, will kick off in Allentown, Pennsylvania on February 4, and run through to April 25, in Palm Springs, California. The tour incorporates rescheduled dates in Washington DC, Hartford, Toronto and Quebec that were postponed in May due to an un-named member of the band testing positive for Covid-19. Support on all dates will come from Toto. Guitarist Neal Schon says, "We are all thankful and overwhelmed by the success of our Journey 'Freedom Tour 2022' this year and have added a new run of dates for 2023. Legendary rockers JOURNEY have announced a 2022 North American tour with Billy Idol and TOTO .

The 40-date "Freedom Tour 2022" will kick off on February 22 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and wrap on May 11 in Hartford, Connecticut.

Billy Idol will open the first leg of the tour, with TOTO taking over as the support act starting on April 7 in San Diego, California.

As previously reported, JOURNEY will return to Las Vegas for a brand-new six-show residency at the Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of Curio Collection by Hilton, from December 1 through December 11.

JOURNEY made its return to the live stage on July 29 during a special "aftershow" at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom. The concert took place just two days before JOURNEY 's appearance at Lollapalooza on the Bud Light Seltzer stage at Grant Park.

JOURNEY 's lineup for the above-mentioned shows included the return of drummer Deen Castronovo , who shared the drum duties in the band with Narada Michael Walden . Walden , bassist Randy Jackson and keyboardist/backing singer Jason Derlatka all joined JOURNEY last year following the band's acrimonious split with drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory . Jackson — who previously played with JOURNEY during the mid-1980s — was forced to miss all the recent gigs because he was scheduled to undergo back surgery. Filling in for him was Marco Mendoza , who previously played several shows in 2019 with Castronovo and JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon under the "Neal Schon's Journey Through Time" banner.

In June, JOURNEY shared a new single, "The Way We Used To Be" . The song was the multi-platinum band's first new music since 2011's album "Eclipse" , and the first track released by the band's revamped lineup. "The Way We Used To Be" marks Walden and Derlatka 's first studio recordings with the band, and Jackson 's first since 1986's "Raised On Radio" . The song was produced by Narada Michael Walden at his Tarpan Studios , with co-production by Schon and Cain .

Since the group's formation in 1973, JOURNEY has earned 19 top 40 singles, 25 gold and platinum albums, and has sold nearly 100 million albums globally. Their "Greatest Hits" album is certified 15 times-platinum, making JOURNEY one of the few bands to ever have been diamond-certified, and their song "Don't Stop Believin'" has been streamed over one billion times alone.

JOURNEY was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, and 2018's co-headlining tour with DEF LEPPARD was the band's most successful tour to date, landing them in the Top 10 year-end touring chart with more than 1 million tickets sold, and earning them the prestigious Billboard "Legends Of Live" touring award. Journey are hitting road next year for an extensive North American tour alongside Billy Idol and Toto .

“Freedom Tour 2022” will visit 40 cities across the US and Canada, with dates running from February 22nd to May 11th.

Billy Idol will open the first leg of the tour, before Toto assume those duties starting in April.

Tickets go on sale Friday, November 19th via Ticketmaster , with a fan pre-sale taking place between November 16th and 18th.

Prior to the “Freedom Tour,” Journey will play a number of shows at the Theater at Virgin Hotels in December as part of their ongoing Las Vegas residency.

One of the most legendary rock bands of all time, JOURNEY has announced the continuation of their highly successful tour with the 50th-anniversary celebration “Freedom Tour 2023” featuring very special guest TOTO . JOURNEY , diamond-selling Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers, will take the stage in 38 cities across North America with their catalog of global chart-topping hits, including “Don’t Stop Believin'”, “Any Way You Want It”, “Faithfully” and “Lights”.

Presented by AEG Presents , JOURNEY “Freedom Tour 2023” begins February 4 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, making stops in Austin, Montreal, Memphis and more before wrapping April 25 at the brand new Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California. The 2023 run includes rescheduled dates in Washington D.C., Hartford, Toronto and Quebec that were postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19.

Top 10 Songs the Stones Aren’t Playing on Their 2024 Tour

W hen the Rolling Stones consider their set list, some tough decisions have to be made. Of their 400-plus songs, only a handful will make the cut.

As the Stones make their way across North America on their Hackney Diamonds Tour , they’ve been sticking to a pretty consistent set of 18-19 songs, though there have been a few curveballs and tour debuts thrown in. For one thing, there’s new material to be played from the band’s 2023 album Hackney Diamonds . There’s also the Stones’ regular strategy of allowing their audiences one fan-voted song.

The reality is that some beloved classics have taken a back seat on this tour. There’s still time for them — the 2024 tour doesn’t end until July 21 — but in the meantime, we’re taking a look at the top 10 songs the Rolling Stones have not played.

1. “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”

From: Sticky Fingers (1971)

This list will start off strong with the seven plus minute “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” from 1971’s Sticky Fingers . The Stones had been including this song in their sets quite routinely through the 2000s, with its last appearance being on July 7, 2022 during their Sixty anniversary concert tour. But so far in 2024, we haven’t heard them knocking with this one.

2. “Street Fighting Man”

From: Beggars Banquet (1968)

“Street Fighting Man” may be the most surprising exclusion on this list considering it’s presently the Stones’ 13th most played song of their career (via setlist.fm ) with over 600 performances since its release in 1968. The last time the band played it was in August of 2022 in Germany. “Street Fighting Man” was once shunned by U.S. radio stations for its dissident lyrics — ironic, then, that decades later it’s the Stones keeping the song from North American audiences.

3. “Before They Make Me Run”

From: Some Girls (1978)

To be fair, the 2024 tour already has a handful of moments — “Tell Me Straight” from Hackney Diamonds , “Little T&A” and “Happy” — for Keith Richards to sing lead. But one famously Richards-sung number that hasn’t been played is “Before They Make Me Run” from 1978’s Some Girls , which last appeared in a set list during the Stones’ 2021 No Filter Tour .

From: Goats Head Soup (1973)

One thing that’s important to consider when crafting a set list is the balance between high-energy numbers and slower ballads. But on this 2024 tour, the Stones appear to be prioritizing the former and not including very many of the latter. If they decide to change that, one popular option could be “Angie” — the Stones’ 21st most played song — which hasn’t been played since the 2022 tour.

5. “Ruby Tuesday”

From: Between the Buttons (1967)

Goodbye “Ruby Tuesday,” we haven’t heard you live since 2022. To make up for that, the Stones have played a few other songs from their earlier years, like “She’s a Rainbow,” “Out of Time” and, from the same album as “Ruby Tuesday, “Let’s Spend the Night Together.”

6. “Live With Me”

From: Let It Bleed (1969)

For a while in the 2000s, “Live With Me” from 1969’s Let It Bleed was a pretty regular inclusion on the Stones’ set list, making many appearances during their 2002-2003 Licks Tour and their 2005-2007 A Bigger Bang Tour. Then it started to fall away, and its most recent play was at the band’s 2016 Desert Trip concert.

7. “Rip This Joint”

From: Exile on Main St. (1972)

“Rip This Joint” is a bit of a longer shot in terms of potential for inclusion on the 2024 tour, mainly because it’s been over two decades since the Stones played it last in 2003. Also, it would have been a good choice for their New Orleans show with its lyric about the Dixie Queen, but so far, it’s stayed on the back burner.

8. “19th Nervous Breakdown”

From: 1966 Single

During the Stones’ 2021 No Filter Tour and their 2022 Sixty Tour, “19th Nervous Breakdown” was on practically every set list. And before that, it was played heavily during their 1997-98 Bridges to Babylon Tour. But it appears to have been dropped for this trek in favor of other songs…

9. “Waiting on a Friend”

From: Tattoo You (1981)

“Waiting on a Friend” from 1981’s Tattoo You presents a similar problem to the one “Angie” does: inserting a slower number into a set jam-packed with energy. This one has not been heard live since a 2014 concert in Berlin, Germany, so it’s been a full decade. For those Tattoo You lovers, the 2024 set does still include “Start Me Up” and “Little T&A.”

10. “Fool to Cry”

From: Black and Blue (1976)

Not to keep pushing the ballads, but “Fool to Cry” could make an excellent addition to the set list with its easy-to-sing-along-to chorus. This song was played exactly once on both the 2021 and 2022 tours, why not play it once in 2024?

November 15, 2021 – One of the most legendary rock bands of all time, JOURNEY, announces their Freedom Tour 2022, featuring very special guests BILLY IDOL and TOTO. The diamond-selling Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will take the stage in 40 cities across North America with their catalog of global chart-topping hits, including "Don't Stop Believin”, "Any Way You Want It", "Faithfully", "Lights" and more. The tour includes an Indianapolis stop at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 5, 2022, where the band will be joined by Toto.

The tour comes after the band previously announced a brand new six-show Las Vegas residency, running from December 1 to December 11 at the Theater at Virgin Hotels.
