Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a "Top Gun: Maverick" screening this week, and interacted with the film's leading star while there.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the event in London, England, on Thursday, and were joined on the red carpet by Tom Cruise.

The trio headed up a small set of stairs at one point during the event, which could have been difficult for Middleton as she was wearing a form-fitting Roland Mouret dress and pointed-pump heels.

That's when Cruise stepped in and held the royal's hand for support, as seen in photos taken on the red carpet.

The British royals and Cruise appeared to have a conversation during their walk, but it was Middleton who stole the show at the event.

She stood out on the red carpet thanks to her gown — which was black with a white, off-the-shoulder neckline — as well as her accessories.

The duchess wore star-shaped earrings, a black clutch, and her family-heirloom wedding ring . Middleton also donned neutral makeup and her hair in a sleek yet wavy style.

After making it to the top of the event steps, the duke and duchess greeted other stars from the movie. Still, they stayed near Cruise and continued chatting with him.

Cruise and Prince William matched in traditional tuxedos and black bow ties. The prince's shoes, however, were a little more fun.

He wore loafers designed by Crockett & Jones that were embroidered with F-18 planes in honor of the movie.

Middleton and Cruise seemingly enjoyed their time together, with some photos taken at the event showing them sharing a laugh as Prince William talks to other attendees.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have made their red carpet debut at the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick .

On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Leicester Square in London ahead of the film screening, with the duchess opting for an off-the-shoulder black and white gown by Roland Mouret for the occasion.

The duchess wore her hair in a sleek straight style, and accessorised with a black clutch and dangling star statement earrings.

Prince William also opted for a classic look, with the duke joining his wife on the red carpet in a classic blue velvet tuxedo jacket and black bow tie.

The royal couple were joined on the red carpet by Tom Cruise , who helped the duchess up a pair of steps at one point by offering his hand.

While speaking to reporters ahead of the premiere, Cruise also reportedly discussed the similarities he shares with the Duke of Cambridge, according to MyLondon .

“We have a lot in common. We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying,” the actor said.

During the duke and duchess’s first red carpet event of the year, they were also accompanied by John Hamm, Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise’s partner Goose from the original movie.

The royal couple last attended a movie premiere in September, when they were accompanied by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at the UK premiere of No Time to Die at the Royal Albert Hall. For the premiere of the James Bond film, the duchess wore a metallic-sequined  Jenny Packham  dress, complete with a sheer cape and structured shoulders.

The Duchess of Cambridge Steals the Show at the Top Gun: Maverick Premiere in London

Forget Maverick and Goose, Kate Middleton had the ultimate wingman at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick tonight: her Roland Mouret gown. The royal stole the show at UK premiere of the blockbuster sequel, which sees Tom Cruise reprise his most famous role 36 years on. Kate and her husband Prince William joined stars including Cruise, Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer on the red carpet in Leicester Square.

Though she’s famously happiest in her girl-next-door wardrobe of jeans, Barbour jackets and flat Penelope Chilvers boots, Kate—like any seasoned royal—knows how to ramp up the glamour when the occasion calls for it. She out-sparkled every A-lister at the No Time to Die premiere last September, wearing a gold Jenny Packham gown embellished with enough sequins to light up the Royal Albert Hall. 

To attend the 2017 BAFTAs, the Duchess chose an off-the-shoulder black gown with delicate floral embellishment by perhaps her favorite luxury fashion house, Alexander McQueen. Two years later, Kate had the dress altered, adding demure cap sleeves for a gala at the National Portrait Gallery. It was a statement of intent for the royal, who is increasingly conscious with her fashion choices, as evidenced by her growing appetite for vintage . 

As the president of BAFTA, Prince William has a keen interest in film, but it could be that the ’80s classic Top Gun holds a special place in the heart of the Duke, who is, after all, a trained pilot. William spent three years leading search and rescue missions out of RAF Valley on Anglesey when he and Kate lived there as newlyweds, before serving as a pilot in the East Anglia Air Ambulance for a further two years. It’s not quite flying a fighter jet in a 4G inverted dive, but it’s impressive nonetheless.

The Cambridges stepped out in glamorous black and white outfits to see Tom Cruise's newest film.

But it won't be the first time the Cambridges see the film. In April 2022, star Tom Cruise apparently hosted a special screening at an IMAX cinema near London’s Leicester Square for Prince William, Kate Middleton, Sophie Wessex, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice.

The Cambridges are no strangers to red carpet events. Prince William has been the president of the BAFTAs since 2010, a role he took over from his grandfather Prince Philip, and in that capacity, he has attended numerous film premieres over the years. Most recently, the Cambridges attended the world premiere of No Time to Die , the newest James Bond movie and the last starring Daniel Craig, in September 2021.

Kate Middleton and Prince William to Make Red Carpet Appearance at 'Top Gun' Sequel Premiere

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will join Tom Cruise for the U.K. premiere of Top Gun: Maverick

Kate Middleton and Prince William are making their red carpet return — alongside Tom Cruise !

The royal couple will join the actor for his U.K. premiere of Top Gun: Maverick on May 19 in London's Leicester Square.

The event will likely see Kate, 40, in full Hollywood glam — like when she glittered in gold for the James Bond premiere last September.

The London premiere won't be the first time William and Kate have seen the highly anticipated film. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were reportedly treated to a special screening of the Top Gun sequel at the invitation of Cruise, who had heard William was a fan of the 1986 original movie.

William, who was a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot himself, and Kate will walk the red carpet next Thursday and then be introduced to Cruise and other cast members, like Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise's late comrade Goose, from the original movie.

The royal couple will also be introduced to film studio executives and the movie's director Joe Kosinski, and representatives from The Film and TV Charity.

The premiere will be hosted by Paramount Pictures and The Film and TV Charity and will be the 72nd Royal Film Performance put on by the charity in its almost 100-year history. The charity supports hundreds of thousands of people working behind the scenes in Britain's film and television industry and was called upon, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic when many technicians and skilled craftspeople lost their livelihoods.

Next Thursday's premiere won't be Cruise's only event alongside the royal family. On Sunday, Cruise will co-host a star-studded televised event celebrating Queen Elizabeth 's 70-year reign at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. "A Gallop through History" will also feature a special appearance by the Queen's great-grandchildren.

Cruise is no stranger to the British royal family. He previously met the late Prince Philip in 2017 during a dinner marking the 75th Anniversary of The Outward Bound Trust at Buckingham Palace.

And he mingled with the late Princess Diana along with his ex-wife and actress Nicole Kidman in 1992 at the Leicester Square Empire Cinema during the premiere of the romantic drama film Far and Away . Cruise also attended the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997 alongside Kidman.

This isn’t the first time Middleton has hobnobbed with celebrities at a Hollywood premiere. She and William memorably made a fully surprise appearance at the London screening of No Time to Die last fall, and thankfully, the moment she met Billie Eilish was captured on film. The image is delightful; in an alternate universe, they could have been the prom queen and begrudgingly dressed-up alt girl. If she keeps it up, who knows who the Duchess will be photographed with next?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge beamed as they brushed shoulders with Hollywood, having already attended a private screening of the film earlier this year.

William and Kate arrived to cheers from onlookers and the flashes of cameras at the event in London’s Leicester Square on Thursday evening.

And movie star Cruise broke from usual protocol advising members of the public not to touch the royal family, offering Kate a helping hand as she walked the red carpet in her dress and heels.

Kate dazzled in an off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret column gown, with an Alexander McQueen clutch and Robinson Pelham diamond star earrings.

Meanwhile William was decked out in a midnight blue Alexander McQueen velvet dinner jacket and tuxedo trousers.

He also wore Crocket & Jones loafers with “F-18” on them in a nod to the fighter jet flown by Cruise’s character in the film.

The fundraising bash was held in aid of The Film and TV Charity, supporting people working behind the scenes in the UK’s screen sector.

It also marked the first time in 36 years Tom Cruise has slipped out of his shirt and into his aviators as test pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell.

Cruise pulled out all the stops to set up a private screening for Wills and Kate back in March – having heard trained RAF helicopter pilot Wills, 39, was a fan of the original.

He gave them a world-first ­preview of the sequel, along with Sophie Wessex, 57, Princesses Eugenie, 32, and Princess Beatrice, 33, at one of the country’s biggest IMAX screens.

KATE MIDDLETON has stolen the show at another major film premiere. Much like her dazzling gold Jenny Packham cape dress she wore to the premiere of new James Bond film, No Time to Die in 2021, Middleton has proven her own movie star magic.

The Duchess of Cambridge made a rare red carpet appearance on May 19, as she attended the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick alongside husband Prince William. Middleton wore an elegant gown by French designer Roland Mouret, which sleekly sat off her shoulders.

The timeless style saw white straps sit comfortably under her shoulders over a black column silhouette. The royal appropriately accessorised with an Alexander McQueen black clutch, Robinson Pelham’s Tsar Star diamond drop earrings and black pumps. Where beauty was concerned, Middleton looked classic with her hair worn straight and pulled to the back — with natural and glossy makeup.

Prince William equally looked dapper, wearing a blue velvet blazer with a white dress shirt, black bowtie and black trousers. However, William did have a little fun with his shoes — donning Crockett & Jones loafers embroidered with F18 planes, a nod to the film in question.

As a fan of the original 1986 movie, it’s reported William and Kate were treated to a special screening courtesy of Top Gun star, Tom Cruise. Therefore, the premiere wasn’t the first time the royal pair had seen the new film, shot in the United Kingdom.

Throughout the event held at London’s Leicester Square, Kate and William mingled with other cast-members including Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller. At one point during the evening, Cruise was even spotted kindly offering his hand to Kate as she climbed a few stairs.

Whilst on the red carpet, Cruise praised the Cambridge’s — whom he’d previously become acquainted with. On May 15, the actor even co-hosted a star-studded event to mark the start of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hit the red carpet with Hollywood star Tom Cruise at the royal premiere of Top Gun: Maverick tonight.

And the superstar actor was hailed a "perfect gentleman" after royal fans spotted a sweet moment between him and Kate.

The duchess looked stunning in a gorgeous black and white off-the-shoulder gown by Roland Mouret, which she paired with seemingly very high heels.

So when it came to navigating several steep steps as she and Prince William went to meet the rest of the cast of the movie, Tom kindly offered Kate his hand.

And in an adorable moment, Kate took it as the movie star helped her up the stairs - in a move that was praised by fans.

One wrote on Twitter : "Tom Cruise being a perfect gentleman tonight!! Kate just stunning."

Another said: "Tom Cruise is a true gentleman, the Duchess of Cambridge is stunning!"

One tweeted: "A true fan girl moment for the Duchess of Cambridge - as Tom Cruise helps her up the steps at the Top Gun Maverick premiere, with Prince William looking super happy for his wife!"

The royal couple attended the London premiere tonight, which is taking place as a Royal Film Performance, and were able to meet the rest of the cast.

The fundraising event is held in aid of The Film and TV Charity, which supports people working behind the scenes in the UK’s screen sector.

Initially called the Royal Command Film Performance, the first Royal Film Performance took place at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square in 1946 and was attended by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.

Maverick, which has so far received rave reviews from critics , sees Tom reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete Mitchell and is being released 36 years after the 1986 original.

Other stars include Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Monica Barbaro, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm and Glen Powell.

He's known for playing Hollywood heroes, but tonight Tom Cruise was Kate Middleton's knight in shining armour. 

The A-lister, 59, extended his hand to the Duchess of Cambridge , 40, as she navigated a set of stairs at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London 's Leicester Square. 

Cruise was on hand to escort the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge down the red carpet and introduce them to his co-stars, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Miles Teller. 

When he reached a small set of stairs ahead of the couple, Cruise immediately turned and offered a hand to the Duchess, who was walking next to him. 

Kate, who looked stunning in a Roland Mouret column dress and black heels, reached out to take his hand for extra support.

Two children who spoke to William and Kate revealed the couple's own brood, George, Charlotte and Louis, were gutted to miss the glitzy screening.

Alfie Everett-Fletcher, nine, who met William at the cinema, said: 'He asked me what I liked about the last one, the things I like, if I like jets and planes and motorbikes.'

Alfie said William told him he is a 'big fan' of the film and 'cars and stuff'.

His mother Elise Everett added: 'He said they have had the theme tune for the film playing with their kids.'

Alfie also said William told him his own children were 'jealous' to miss the premiere.

Poppy Saunders, 11, said it was 'really good' to meet Kate and give her a bunch of flowers outside the auditorium, although she was 'really nervous'.

She said: 'I gave the flowers and shook hands and she said 'hello Poppy'. She said a lot about how the kids love the film as well.'

Her mother Linsay Saunders added: 'She said she liked sweet peas because there were sweet peas in the flowers.'

On the young royals, Ms Saunders said Kate told them 'they wished they were here tonight'. She added: 'And I said "well, it is a school night".'

Cruise, who took part in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations last weekend, introduced the royal couple to his co-stars Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Miles Teller.

Ahead of the premiere, Cruise, 59, said he and the Duke of Cambridge 'have a lot in common' as he spoke of his admiration for the royal. 

'We have a lot in common. We both love England and we're both aviators, we both love flying,' he said. 

The actor also expressed his joy to be back on the red carpet, saying: 'I love what I do, I've always enjoyed it and I'm enjoying it even more now. 'Particularly after the last couple of years, just to have an event like this is extraordinary.' 

Maverick, which has so far received rave reviews from critics, sees Hollywood star Cruise reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete Mitchell and is being released 36 years after the 1986 original.

Tom Cruise's top secret London tea parties could attract Prince William and Kate Middleton, royal expert says

Tom Cruise is reportedly a big fan of British tea parties, and though the guest lists on who attends have been kept under wraps, there is a good chance Prince William and Kate Middleton will make an appearance in the future, according to royal experts.

Per the New York Daily News, the "Mission: Impossible" actor hosts Sunday afternoon tea parties at his flat in the prestigious Hyde Park neighborhood in London.

Everyone in attendance — guests, DJs and waiters — are required to sign non-disclosure agreements, or NDAs, before entering the home. Attendees are also forbidden to take pictures at the tea party, per the outlet.

Cruise reportedly hosts his top-secret tea party at 4 p.m., with the actor's personal chef preparing scones, teas and a breakfast buffet assortment. Cruise is also considerate of his neighbors, keeping the tea parties short. The parties reportedly wrap up on Sunday night between 7-8 p.m. "at the latest."

"Hollywood royalty, Tom Cruise, loves to be loved, loves the U.K. and all things British," royal commentator Helena Chard told Fox News Digital of Cruise's reported regular afternoon tea parties.

"People in the U.K., likewise seem to have adopted Tom Cruise," Chard said. "After his successful afternoon tea rendezvous with the late Queen Elizabeth II, I imagine he now hopes to host tea parties forever more and no doubt share fun anecdotes about his heart-warming time with our late Queen Elizabeth II. Afternoon tea is traditionally and typically served at 4 p.m. hence why his parties begin at this time."

Though there's no indication that any members of the royal family have attended Cruise's parties yet, his London home is close to both Buckingham and Kensington Palaces, and he's had a long history with the royal family.

"Hyde Park is a short cab ride from Buckingham Palace but within walking distance to Kensington Palace," royal commentator Kinsey Schofield tells Fox News Digital. "It is a very chic and relaxed area. You can walk all around the grounds of Kensington Palace without being disturbed. There are people jogging, walking their dogs, and lying in the grass with a book in their hands. It is a peaceful space." 

Royal expert Chris Andersen shared that "throughout Queen Elizabeth's reign, Cruise accepted every invitation extended by the Palace. He and the late queen had several friendly encounters, and that extended to Prince Philip and King Charles as well."

"But I think his strongest ties are to William and Kate. After all, they are the future of the monarchy," Andersen explained. "If Cruise hasn't yet invited the Prince and Princess of Wales--along with George, Charlotte, and Louis – to one of his London tea parties, you can bet he soon will."

Cruise, who had a fondness for the late monarch, has "had connections" to the royals dating back to when he first met Princess Diana.

Royal commentator Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that it began in 1992 "when he and Nicole Kidman met Princess Diana at the London premiere of their film ‘Far and Away.’"

Cruise and his then-wife, Kidman, were also among the celebrity guests who paid tribute to the late princess at her funeral on Sept. 6, 1997. 

As for his relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II, Cruise and the late monarch "struck up a friendship in her final years after he hosted part of a horse show, A Gallop Through History, and was invited to tea at Windsor Castle afterwards," Turner said.

He continued, "The queen was famed for her ‘Jam Pennies’ served with either Assam or Earl Grey tea, the delicacy were slices of bread cut in the shape of a circular old sized penny coin and served with jam, this was served at 4 p.m. every afternoon and presumably Cruise followed the royal tradition by starting the event at the same time."

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams echoed Turner's comments, noting that the late monarch was "disappointed at not having met" Cruise when he co-hosted the Gallop Through History event for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations. 

"A special tour of Windsor Castle was arranged, and they had tea together," Fitzwilliams noted. "He was allowed to fly in by helicopter, and they reportedly intended to lunch together at a future date. He has spoken of his admiration for Queen Elizabeth and the dignity and devotion which characterized her rule." 

Cruise has made connections with more royals over the years. In May, Cruise made a video appearance at King Charles' coronation concert, and he was seen with William and Middleton last year when Cruise held a special screening of his 2022 sequel "Top Gun: Maverick" for the royal couple ahead of the movie's release.

Cruise invited the royal couple after learning that William, who previously served as a pilot with the Royal Air Force, was a huge fan of the original film.

Two months later, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the London premiere of "Top Gun: Maverick" at the invitation of Cruise. 

The trio were seen smiling and chatting while making their way down the red carpet, with Cruise even giving Middleton a helping hand as she walked up the steps at Leicester Square.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, Cruise confirmed that he had treated the couple to the early screening. 

"He's an aviator, so I knew he would have a lot of fun," the New York native said. 

Addressing Cruise's alleged tea parties, Schofield noted that she believes, "Tom is trying to enjoy some much-needed time off." 

"He works around the clock, so I imagine these tea parties are a fantastic way for him to busy himself and unwind."

Cruise's rep did not immediately respond to Fox Bussiness' request for comment.

Royal couple King Charles and Queen Camilla were all smiles in 2012 at the royal world premiere of Skyfall. Stepping out on the red carpet, the besotted couple looked ultra-glamorous in their finest threads. Camilla wowed in a sumptuous purple velvet dress, while Charles looked oh-so-dapper in a smart tuxedo and a bow tie.

Oozing elegance, the royal donned a crimson dress adorned with shimmering sequins and a floaty skirt. She accessorised with a classic black bag, an opulent diamond necklace and a pair of dazzling diamond earrings. Perfection! 

Princess Diana

The late Princess Diana wowed in cherry red at the premiere of For Your Eyes Only in 1981. Stepping out in style, the mother-of-two looked the picture of elegance in her playful frock which featured spaghetti straps, a love heart neckline and whimsical ruffles galore.

Princess Kate and Prince William 

Prince William and Princess Kate joined actor Tom Cruise on the red carpet as they arrived for the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick at Leicester Square in May 2022. For the special occasion, the royal couple didn't fail to impress, opting for sleek, coordinating outfits in shades of white, navy and black.

Channelling their inner movie stars, Kate looked breathtaking in a chic Roland Mouret dress with a Bardot neckline, while William looked smart in a natty McQueen suit and velvet loafers.

Confirmed Swiftie! Tom Cruise dances and laughs at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour

Cruise was recorded at swift's concert at wembley stadium, which was attended by various celebs and royals.

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest and most guarded celebrities in the world. He took a break from his day-to-day life to partake in one of the world's biggest and most exclusive pastimes: attending the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. The actor and producer was recorded having a blast at one of the most exclusive sections of the concert, laughing and dancing as Swift performed at the Wembley Stadium, in London. 

Videos shared on social media showed that Swift's private box was packed with celebrities, including Cruise, Travis and Jason Kelce, Greta Gerwig, and more. In the case of Cruise, he was seen having fun with Kelce, with the two having various interactions recorded by onlookers. While Swift performed "Blank Space," Kelce took Cruise by the shoulders and gave him a friendly shake. A separate video showed the audience dancing along to "Shake it Off," with the camera panning to reveal Cruise, the Kelces, Gerwig, and more of Swift's guests dancing excitedly to the song. 

Swift has performed various shows at Wembley Stadium over the past week, with people capturing celebrities like Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Andrew Scott, and more in attendance. Prince William and his kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were also seen in attendance, memorably taking a selfie with Swift. Hugh Grant was also on the guest list, writing a sweet message on social media and thanking Swift for the invite and Kelce for the tequila shots. 

"Dear @taylorswift13 , You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team and excellent if gigantic boyfriend ( #tequilashots .). Thanks so much from one aging London boy, wife and thrilled 8 year old," he wrote on X.

There were a couple royal blank spaces where Kate Middleton and Prince Louis should have been during night 1 of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in London .

On Friday, Prince William was joined by his and Kate's two oldest children, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 10, for the first show of the GRAMMY-winning singer's London run at Wembley Stadium, and Kate and Louis were noticeably absent. 

ET has learned that Kate, 42, stayed home with Louis, 6, while William, George and Charlotte shook it off during the star-studded concert. According to a source, Kate -- who made her public debut following her cancer diagnosis during last week's Trooping the Colour -- will not attend any future shows. 

"Princess Kate is not expected to attend any future Taylor concerts. Her appearance at the King's Trooping the Colour doesn't mean she is returning to a full schedule of public engagements yet," the source says. 

The  Princess of Wales went public with her cancer diagnosis in March.

After Friday's show, both William and Swift celebrated the evening with pics . The heir to the British throne took to his official social media platforms to share a selfie of him and his two oldest children with the "Blank Space" singer, 34.

"Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour," the photo caption read.

The source notes that the photo was taken before the GRAMMY-winning singer took the stage at Friday's concert.

In turn, Swift took to her social media to share another selfie of her, the royals, and boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34.

"Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝 @princeandprincessofwales," she wrote. 

The pic also marked her and Kelce's first Instagram grid moment. 

Inside the show, William couldn't contain his excitement as  he was seen bopping around to "Shake It Off."  

William's been a Swiftie for some time. You'll remember he and Swift took the stage alongside Jon Bon Jovi back in November 2013 at the Centrepoint Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace in London, where they belted out "Livin' on a Prayer."

There's no denying that London has brought the star power. Swift's shows have been attended by various celebrities, including Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis,  Tom Cruise, Jason Kelce, Kylie Kelce and Hugh Grant .

Swift's final run at Wembley for this leg will be on June 23. The "London Boy" songstress will make her return for five more shows at the venue on Aug. 15-17 and Aug. 19-20.
