Many thanks for great information!

Based on the review here, we booked on the Sonesta Moon Goddess March, 2023. We were disappointed. The rooms were indeed classic and comfortable. The carpets in the hall were old and stained. The HVAC systems in the room did not work properly despite engineering’s best efforts. Hot water was often hard to come by. The most disappointing element was the food. This was served buffet style, and almost never maintained hot. It was as if I had returned to my high school cafeteria. The staff were attentive and tried to please.

The review above does not reflect on the current state of affairs.

M/s Liberty Nile cruise... boat hasn't been in service for 6 seasons. Safety certificates dates 2008. Dining room and rooms smell of choking diesel. Dirty rooms, filthy curtains, cobwebs everywhere, I don't think the sheets had been changed in my bed. Don't do this to yourself even if it's offered free. The pyramids are in better condition!

nile cruise ms liberty

Just back from a great holiday in Egypt. This is a review of the 7 day Nile Cruise not the time in Hurghada (which was also good). The Viking Premiere is a nice boat with about 60 cabins I think. It was only half/two thirds full on our trip in November which was fine. Weather - brilliant, hot circa 30C but not humid and usually a nice breeze. Took two sweaters for the evening but never wore them. Cabins - good overall, a/c could be better but it was ok for the time of year, wouldn't want to do this trip in May - September. Boat - overall excellent, you can pick slight faults but I won't! Staff - again generally very good, a few slightly surly at times but overall excellent. No women at all amongst the crew of circa 60. That's another story. Tipping - yes we had to give £27 each on arrival but you know this, I would really like to know how this is distributed amongst the staff, as a few guests "in the know" intimated it is only shared out amongst the senior crew, if true that is well out of order. We gave other tips to our cleaners and favourite barmen/waiters, all graciously received. Food - generally very good with lots of choice. Yes it does get a bit repetitive after 7 days, but we enjoyed it as did the vast majority. Drinks - approx. £5 for a beer, wine or spirit (eg G&T). We bought the all inclusive package in advance which cost us less than £20 per day each, so if you are likely to consume at least 4 drinks per day, buy it in advance in the UK, it appears to be nearly twice the price if you try to upgrade on the boat! I would recommend going AI !! Facilities - the upper deck is great, with a really nice bar, lots of seats and sunbeds in sunny and shady spots. Also a good pool. We absolutely loved it on here and the best part of the holiday was just sitting on deck watching the world/Nile go by.....There is also a bar area in the deck below, but the weather was so good (in November) that it was never used. The shop is good, the wifi very average and only really works on the lower deck in reception. 10 euros for 2Gbs which was ok for us. Tours - our guide Mohamed Abdou was good. There were only 6 of us Brits in his group and the only thing we complained about to him (in a friendly way) was his inability to remember/use any of our names......only a small thing but for a party of 6 over 7 days, he should do it! Nevertheless overall all the tours were great and lived up to all expectations. Yes some early mornings but that was no problem and meant we were back for lunch and spent the afternoon on the sun deck! Happy days. The optional excursions were a bit hit and miss. Abu Simbel was brilliant but £115 each is a rip off. The Nubian Village was average at best but the boat trip around the islands in Aswan fantastic. The felucca trip brilliant. The Karnak sound and light show was a disappointment and again a complete rip off. Get a taxi from your boat in Luxor and buy your own tickets and save £25 par head. The trip to the papyrus facility was great, perfumery (in Aswan) awful and the alabaster factory worthwhile. Book your full tour package in the UK, again cheaper than on the boat. Haggling - this can get debilitating, expect to pay approx. half of what they first ask for everything!! Except the optional tours apparently!! Overall would recommend for couples or groups of friends. Egypt can be a challenge for women travelling alone. We met a couple travelling on that basis and they had some issues. We had a great time!!!

We booked our nile cruise from Australia through Asmaa at trans travel and she was excellent. She was very helpful and patient and answered all our questions quickly.she was kind and considerate to any changes we made and i would have no problems recommending her to anyone. Thanks you Asmaa

We spent an unforgettable week on the MS.Royal Esadora, sailing from Luxor to Aswan and back. We had two excellent guides to accompany us, Waleed and Maged, or "Magic". Excursions were included along the way, to places such as Karnak and Luxor temples, Esna temple, Kom Ombo temple, the unfinished Obelisk, Aswan High Dam and the Valley of the Kings. We also took advantage of some of the optional excursions, such as a drive across the Nubian desert to Abu Simbel, a boat trip to a Nubian farm in the company of an expert ornithologist, and a balloon ride over Hatshepsut's temple and the Valley of the Queens. Our group leader was Waleed, and he made the week a really memorable one. His extensive knowledge of Egyptian history and archaeology were combined with his wonderful sense of humour to make the cruise a holiday we will never forget. He was always very candid when questioned, and always ready to go the extra mile to help in any way possible. We really cannot praise Waleed highly enough! The staff on the ship were always courteous, friendly and helpful. Food was varied and plentiful, and the room was clean, airy and comfortable, with a large sliding window/French balcony, which allowed us to enjoy the passing scenery from the comfort of our air-conditioned room, with the window open. Unless you intend drinking a lot of alcohol (£20 worth per person per day), the full drinks package is not worth purchasing - just buy the drinks you want and pay for them at the end of the week.

The upper deck, outside cabin was larger than expected with ensuite bathroom and good views. The staff worked hard but catering was repetitive and unimaginitive. The tours were well guided and easy to understand. Sun deck could be spoiled by diesel fumes when berthed if the wind was in the wrong direction and swimming pool complete with sun oil tide mark by end of cruise (not particularly clean). Key point of concern was NO SAFETY BRIEFING at any point on this cruise and lifejacket had not be inspected. Not a luxury cruise, more a budget version.

AFTER CONTACT FROM ORBITAL MANAGER THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN UPDATED INLINE WITH A RESPONSE... The cruise itself on the boat no issues, UK Orbital does a great job of service however some things to be aware: 1. The tour guide (Maged) gets a cut off everything you buy even the gift store onboard, and this unfortuantly included us being ripped off with £450 worth of perfume from Cleopatra perfume factory who when we were not looking packed some cheap diluted bottles not from the demo. Maged took us to this perfume place as well as other places he obviously gets a cut from. What a waste of money....perfume by one person in our group was thown down the sink £300 waste! The tour guide is knowledgable on history, but it was really offputting how he was always taking us to places he would get a cut, and always trying to negotaite deals on everything that was infact a rip off when compared elsewhere. The tour gudie was less interested in booking the cheap optional excursions for us most probably because he didnt get as large cut on those as apposed to Abu Simbel which was £85 and he constantly pushed at us. 2. You will be forced to pay £28 "tips" upfront on the first day for all the boat staff, you are not encouraged to put the money yourself into the downstairs tip box, its taken from you of which one cant be sure this ever gets to the staff! The boat staff really make the entire experience they are amazing and mostly the trip can be credited to them..... 3. The wifi will cost you min £10 and it doesnt work very well most times, so this is the only down fall of the services on the boat itself. 3. On the entire 7 day curise 6 nights there was no nile view on mooring as there is a boat that pulls up right outside your window. 4. Hot air ballooning although this advertised this has not been orperational for 4 months! very disapointing..... Overall the experience was good on the UK Orbital side, the Egyptian Orbital side when it came to tips and money was very disapointing. The staff on the boat and the boat itself was great but the tips and commission and us being ripped off with frangrance has left a very sour taste....
