How Long Would It Take To Watch All Of Pokemon?

Pokemon has more than 1,000 episodes in its 26-season history, but how long would it take to watch them all?

Quick Links

How many episodes of pokemon are there, how long will it take to watch all episodes of pokemon, what are all the seasons of pokemon.

  • The Pokemon anime has more episodes than One Piece and Dragon Ball Z combined, totaling 1,280 episodes in 26 seasons.
  • It would take 490 hours to watch all episodes of Pokemon, equivalent to more than 20 days of nonstop viewing.
  • Each season of Pokemon ranges from 13 to 31 hours, with a total of 26 seasons to watch from start to finish.

If you were asked what the longest-running anime was, you’d likely say something like One Piece, or Dragon Ball Z, which are great guesses. Both anime have been around for a long time and have a huge catalog of episodes and seasons to watch.

How Long To Beat Every Pokemon Game?

What if we told you that there is an even bigger anime out there, one that has both of those anime beat? Turns out, the Pokemon anime surpasses both of them when it comes to the sheer number of episodes across the various seasons of the show.

Gotta Watch ‘Em All

The anime closely follows the journey and release schedule of the games for the most part. The Indio League mirrors the journey that you would take through the Pokemon Red & Blue games.

Season 3, The Johto Journeys, follows the games Pokemon Gold & Silver and so on, recording every Pokemon the Champion-in-training has caught over the years .

How Long Does It Take To Watch All Of One Piece?

Ash's journey came to an end in the 25th season, with him defeating Leon and dozens of other exceptional trainers from across the various Pokemon regions.

With him crowned the undisputed World Champion, Ash and Pikachu parted ways from the main show, letting Liko and Roy step into the spotlight with Pokemon Horizons: The Series.

As it stands, there are 1,280 episodes of the Pokemon anime to watch , a staggeringly huge number that only barely eclipses the number of Pokemon in the games.

More Time Than It Takes To Catch A Shiny

Calculating the total number of hours it takes to watch all the episodes of Pokemon is a slightly more difficult task than just counting them all up.

It is pretty safe to assume that an average episode of Pokemon is anywhere between 22 to 24 minutes in length , that’s including the opening theme song, recap, and going all the way to the end of the credits.

If we say it takes an average of 23 minutes per episode to watch all 1,280 episodes, we end up with a total of 490 hours to watch all the episodes of the Pokemon anime.

How Many Pokemon Go Players Are There?

That’s more than 20 days of nonstop watching Pokemon episodes, 24 hours a day. A mind-boggling endeavor that would take more than 20 days to watch everything the Pokemon anime has to offer, from start to finish.

Obviously, you can’t watch Pokemon 24 hours a day nonstop, so it realistically would take much, much longer to watch everything in the Pokemon anime completely.Let’s say you want to throw in the animated movies too, well that’ll add an extra 2,120 minutes to the tally, and if we count Detective Pikachu that’s another 104 minutes, bringing the running total up to 527 hours total .

26 Seasons And Counting

If you want to try watching the anime season by season to make it a little bit more of a bite-sized adventure to take, you're going to want to know how long each season is.

The amount of time it would take to watch these seasons are averaged out a bit, since there's just so much content here that you're going to be skipping those opening and ending credits.

It's still a pretty good way to guess how much of a time investment you are going to have to take to finish every single episode that Pokemon has to offer.

Certain episodes of the Pokemon anime that have been banned or restricted, so you might have to hunt some down if you're truly dedicated to the task.

The Pokmon Anime's First Champion Hides An Incredible Secret

  • Lance from the Pokmon anime is not just a champion, but also a spy, infiltrating criminal organizations.
  • Lance's spy skills are international, infiltrating both Team Rocket and Team Magma.
  • Lance's secret agent career prevented disasters, showing he was the hero the Pokmon world needed.

Champions in the Pokémon anime have been introduced in a variety of ways, often accentuating their skill and ability at Pokémon training in their first appearances. And while that is true of the first champion met in the series, Lance, it's actually a totally different set of skills which he's able to show off, thanks to his job with the "G-Men."

Lance is the champion of the Johto region , as well as a member of the Kanto Elite Four, and that would probably be enough for most people. Lance, however, is actually a member of a crime-fighting organization designed to take down groups like Team Rocket. Lance doesn't just use his skills to battle and defeat Team Rocket grunts, but also infiltrates their organizations to gather intel and take them down, just like a real spy.

Lance has not only infiltrated Team Rocket, but Team Magma as well, proving that his spy skills are put to work internationally as well.

Lance's Spy Career Became Public Knowledge

In the Johto-era episode "Talkin' 'Bout An Evolution," Lance makes his first appearance, investigating Team Rocket's operations at the Lake of Rage. There, he meets and rescues Ash and friends, and begins his infiltration of the organization by stealing a uniform and disguising himself as a grunt. When Ash's group got captured again anyway, Lance was able to free them and then went on the warpath, defeating Jessie and James easily with his Dragonite before destroying Team Rocket's experimental machine that was forcing Pokémon to evolve . Lance caught his iconic Red Gyarados here as well.

Lance would later reappear in the Hoenn-era episode "Gaining Groudon," at which time he was investigating Team Aqua and Magma's schemes in the region. Lance happened to be undercover as a Magma grunt when Ash was captured by the group, who wanted the Blue Orb that Pikachu had absorbed into his body. He would go on to fight against Team Aqua as the tides began to shift in their favor, and later used his Pokémon, including Red Gyarados, to help calm down Kyogre and Groudon and prevent an apocalyptic showdown.

Every Pokmon Champion Who Taught Ash (& Who Made The Biggest Impact)

Not much is known about the "Pokémon G-Men" organization; "G-Man" is a slang term from the mid-20th century for government agents, suggesting Lance was working with some form of government to take down these massive criminal organizations. They obviously operate on a scale greater than a single region, since Lance went to Hoenn to stop Teams Aqua and Magma. Even their level of secrecy is in question; when Lance was introduced in the Masters' Eight tournament in Journeys , he was publicly described as a "G-Man."

Since Champions often lend their help to stopping evil teams, as Cynthia would later do in Diamond and Pearl , one can't help but wonder if all Champions are approached about participating in the G-Men organization. Either way, there's no indication that any of them besides Lance have accepted. Lance's secret agent career certainly helped in stopping two massive potential disasters, making him not just the Champion, but the hero the Pokémon world needed.
