About Porter Robinson Merch

American DJ, record producer, musician, and vocalist Porter Weston Robinson was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on July 15, 1992. Robinson started making music while he was young. At the age of 18, he joined Skrillex’s record company, OWSLA, and in 2011, he released the extended EP Spitfire. In 2012, he was included in Billboard’s list of the 21 Under 21. Worlds, Robinson’s first full-length studio album, debuted at the top of Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart in 2014.

He was named the MTVU Artist of the Year in 2015 and appeared on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list seven times in a row. He and Madeon were both nominated for Single of the Year and Live Act of the Year at the first Electronic Music Awards in 2017 for the songs “Shelter” and the Shelter Live Tour, respectively. In 2017, he started making music under the pseudonym Virtual Self, and the following year, he released his self-titled EP.

Porter Robinson Early life

Robinson was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and currently resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was accepted into UNC, where both of his parents are alumni, but did not attend himself due to his newly launched music career. He is the second of four boys in his family. He has stated that he is very close friends with fellow DJs and record producers Madeon and Dillon Francis.

Porter Robinson has embarked into a new pop era with his third studio album, SMILE! :D. The highly anticipated worldwide tour will be his biggest ever, running across 20 countries and 4 continents from August 2024 through early 2025 starting in North America before continuing to Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. He will debut a completely new full live band performance, after first experimenting with the format at Second Sky 2022 and again in 2023 at Coachella’s main stage. The new album’s lead single, “Cheerleader”, gained over 1 million views on YouTube and over 1 million streams on Spotify in the first 24 hours.

In 2019, Porter put on the first Second Sky Festival, which sold out of all 30,000 tickets for the two-day festival in a single day. In both 2020 and 2021, Porter Robinson hosted editions of his virtual festival Secret Sky, amassing over 6 million viewers combined, and which came to be regarded as the most sophisticated virtual festivals of their time. In 2021, following the release of sophomore album Nurture, Second Sky Festival made its return to the Bay Area, selling out 40,000 tickets in a single day. Immediately following, the Nurture Live North American Tour sold over 150,000 tickets and was the highest grossing electronic tour of 2021.

At age 18, the North Carolina-based producer and songwriter burst onto the scene with a complex, bombastic brand of electro-house. Following the major success of his 2014 debut album Worlds, Porter released the RIAA Gold single "Shelter" with Madeon in 2016, followed by a Shelter Live Tour spanning 43 dates and four continents. The following year, Porter began releasing music under a new alias, Virtual Self, which led to his first Grammy nomination for the BBC Radio 1 hit single "Ghost Voices."
