How does the Waiting List work?

Once the TCM Classic Cruise becomes fully booked, any cancelations prior to departure will be filled via our Waiting List.

When signing up for the waiting list, you will be asked what type of stateroom you want. You will be required to put down a $199 deposit that is NON REFUNDABLE, except in the event we do not have a stateroom for you by September 26, 2024. This means that we will refund your deposit if we cannot accommodate your stateroom request by September 26, 2024, but you will forfeit your deposit if you decide to take yourself off the list before that time.

After September 26, 2024 we will send an email to everyone still on the waiting list asking if they would like to remain on it. If you would like to take yourself off of the waiting list at that time, you may do so and receive a check for the full refund of your deposit. If you choose to stay on the waiting list past September 26, 2024, and we cannot accommodate your stateroom request before the cruise sails, we will automatically refund your deposit a few weeks after sailing.

FIRST AVAILABLE - If you choose “First Available – Waiting List First Available”, you are committing to take any type of stateroom that may come available, including suites.

What health and safety precautions will be taken during the TCM cruise?

While it is too soon to know what health and safety protocols will be necessary when your voyage sets sail in October 2024, promoting health and safety is a top priority. Disney Cruise Line is resuming sailing in a gradual, phased approach that emphasizes multiple layers of health and safety measures, developed in consideration of guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other medical experts. Learn more about Disney Cruise Line’s approach to promoting health and well-being by visiting Disney's Health and Safety Page.

What is the official cancellation policy?

ALL DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.   If you wish to protect your investment, we strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance .  We've teamed up with Travel Insured to offer two levels of insurance: a standard insurance policy and a 50% Cancel for Any Reason add-on policy.

  • Travel Insured's standard policy will reimburse cancellations at 100% of monies paid for covered cancellation reasons.
  • Travel Insured's Cancel For Any Reason add-on policy will reimburse up to 50% of monies paid when cancelling for any reason not covered by the standard policy when cancelled at least 48 hours prior to sailing.

To review both insurance coverage policy details, please click here . If you have cruise insurance and need to cancel for a covered condition, you can make a claim with Travel Insured to recover any lost payments. See the Ticketing Contract for full details.

Please note - Should the event itself be canceled you will have the option of receiving a refund of your cruise cost or a credit towards a future TCM Classic Cruise.

Do I need a Passport? What type of identification will I need to board the ship?

Remember, at time of booking, you acknowledged that the laws that regulate the  necessary travel documentation  are subject to change and that it is your responsibility to be aware of what is required for travel.

View the latest information from Disney at https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faq/ships-cruises/required-documents/ .  Below are recommendations based on the current U.S. government policy. This information could be updated without notice.

Please note that the name on your ticket must match the name on your passport or you will need to provide an original copy of proof of change of name (marriage license, etc).

U.S. Citizens

Sixthman highly recommends all guests travel with a passport valid for at least six months beyond completion of travel. Although a passport is not required for U.S. citizens taking cruises that begin & end in the same U.S. port, traveling with a passport enhances your disembarkation experience, as delays may be expected upon your return to the U.S. if you do not have one. Additionally, passports make it easier for you to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port should you miss your scheduled port of embarkation, or need to fly back to the U.S. for emergency reasons. If you do not have a passport you can use an original or state certified copy of a Birth Certificate as listed below.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative ( WHTI ) allows U.S. citizens (including children) sailing on cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port to travel with one of the following WHTI compliant document:

  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Passport Card
  • Enhanced Driver's License (EDL)
  • Original or state certified copy of a Birth Certificate   PLUS a government-issued photo ID*
  • Certificate of Naturalization   PLUS a government-issued photo ID*

*A government-issued photo ID is also required for all guests, including children 16 and over. For more information, a complete list of WHTI -compliant documents or to obtain a passport application, visit www.travel.state.gov .

For more information or to obtain a passport application, visit  here .

Non-U.S. Citizens

All guests must carry a valid passport, and if necessary, a multiple entry visa is required for entry into the United States (i.e. B-2 Visitors Visa), or a visa waiver. Please be sure to check with the proper agencies and authorities (such as your local immigration office) before you sail because we can't board you without the proper documents. Travelers from the 38 Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries* must have a machine-readable passport to enter the U.S. without a visa. All VWP travelers are required to obtain an electronic travel authorization prior to boarding a carrier to travel by air or sea to the U.S. under the VWP.

*ANDORRA, AUSTRALIA, AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, BRUNEI, CHILE, CZECH REPUBLIC, DENMARK, ESTONIA, FINLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, HUNGARY, ICELAND, IRELAND, ITALY, JAPAN, LATVIA, LIECHTENSTEIN, LITHUANIA, LUXEMBOURG, MALTA, MONACO, NETHERLANDS, NEW ZEALAND, NORWAY, PORTUGAL, REP. OF KOREA , SAN MARINO, SINGAPORE, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SPAIN, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND, TAIWAN and UNITED KINGDOM.

If you are not a US Citizen and are uncertain that you have the correct documentation please call US Immigrations at 1-800-375-5283 to be sure your identification will be satisfactory.

Alien Residents of the United States holding an Alien Registration Card (ARC or "Green Card") (Form I-551) may travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda (see Visa Restrictions on Bermuda) and the Caribbean with just their valid ARC and Proof of Identity. However, it is recommended that these guests also carry their passports from their country of citizenship if available. In some instances, ARC holders may still be required to have sailing permits and/or visas to enter countries Norwegian Cruise Line visits in these areas. Please note that travel anywhere else in the world requires a valid passport from the country you are a citizen of and subsequently subjects you to any documentation, visa and health requirements of all countries visited.

What if I do not have proper identification?

There is no Jedi Mind Trick around this, you MUST have proper identification to be permitted to board the ship. If you arrive at port without proper identification, while Sixthman will assist you in contacting the appropriate agencies, we cannot guarantee that you can successfully attain proper identification from the port, and this may result in being denied boarding without compensation. And this makes us sad.

If you are traveling with a wheelchair, scooter or ECV, then consider booking a wheelchair-accessible stateroom, which has a 32-inch entrance door and features a wider path of travel inside the stateroom to accommodate the device. Typical staterooms have a narrower entrance door (25.5 inches) and may not have the necessary interior space for the device.

Safety regulations require that all Guest personal equipment—including wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters and electric convenience vehicles (ECVs)—must be stored inside Guest staterooms when not in use. To ensure the safety of all Guests, it is  strictly prohibited  to park personal equipment in Guest corridors or stairwell landings.

Once onboard, Guests who find that their device will not fit inside their stateroom will be asked to park their equipment in an alternate location that may be several decks away from their stateroom location. Guests are responsible for parking their device in one of these designated areas when not in use.

Are Service Dogs Permitted to Travel

How Sixthman is Transforming Festival Cruises: “The Sky’s the Limit”

In 2023, Sixthman will make even more memories at sea with Jeff Tweedy, Coheed and Cambia, Beach Boys and more

How Sixthman is Transforming Festival Cruises: “The Sky’s the Limit”

Festivals are a foundational place to build community. It’s a place for thousands of like-minded fans, all congregating for a similar need to release and united with enthusiasm for their favorite artists. For Jeff Cuellar, the VP of Events, Marketing, and Community for Sixthman , this is a driving force behind the company. Since 2001, Sixthman has been crafting immersive and artist-led festivals that are held on a rather unique location: a cruise ship.

They’ve increased the amount of cruises they offer significantly in the last few years, and it’s easy to see why — Sixthman cruises are designed to be engaging, unique voyages that combine fans’ passion for their favorite artists with the unforgettable experience of a cruise. Not only have they offered exciting cruises in the music world, with artists like KISS, Paramore, and Weezer, but they’ve expanded their approach to offer cruises with athletes, comedians, influencers, and more.

Sixthman has had a huge 2022, and they recently wrapped the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise , which featured Dashboard Confessional, New Found Glory, Underoath, Plain White T’s, and many more nostalgia-forward artists. Looking ahead to 2023, they’re continuing to offer unique, selective cruise experiences, including the “Cruise Perfect” Cruise, which is headlined by the beloved comedy and sports group Dude Perfect.

They’re constantly looking for creative ways to bring people together at sea, and they’re certainly thinking outside the box; one of the cruises they offer is Chris Jericho’s Rock n’ Rager, which brings WWE wrestlers together to compete on a full size wrestling ring for the “Oceania Championship Belt,” all while rock bands rage on in the background. Sixthman will also reach a 15 year milestone for the Cayamo cruise, which features dozens of musicians including Jeff Tweedy, Andrew Bird, and Trampled By Turtles, and will set sail on February 10th, 2023.

These cruises are not just music festivals, and they’re not just cruises, either: The goal is to unite cruise goers from these various devoted fan communities, and to give attendees a once-in-a-lifetime experience onboard with the artists and influencers they admire.

As a longtime Bonnaroo vet and one of the instrumental figures in making the festival what it is today, Cuellar’s ambitions for Sixthman are held to a high standard. “Honestly, the sky’s the limit with this stuff,” Cuellar tells Consequence  over Zoom. “I think we only have room for growth. And it’s just gonna be making sure that we don’t eliminate any of that ‘secret sauce,’ that we’re able to keep going at a rate that that makes sense. And, of course, to keep putting our passengers and our guests and our artists first.”

How Sixthman is Transforming Festival Cruises: “The Sky’s the Limit”

The post How Sixthman is Transforming Festival Cruises: “The Sky’s the Limit” appeared first on Consequence .

That “secret sauce” that Cuellar refers to is not just great performances onboard or engaging games, but the intimacy the comes with joining an artist-curated cruise. “One of my favorite KISS Cruise examples is Paul Stanley’s family meatball recipe being served on board,” says Cuellar. “It’s that rare experience where you’re actually getting to taste something that’s hit the family table… you have the ability to experience that one on one.”

Whether it’s enjoying three nights of your favorite comedian, screaming at the top of your lungs to emo anthems all weekend, or relishing in the simple pleasures of a vacation at sea, Sixthman is offering experiences you’ll never forget. What better way to spend your vacation than with your favorite band?

Read below for our full Q&A with Sixthman’s Jeff Cuellar, and check out Sixthman’s upcoming cruises and festivals here .

Sixthman has now been in operation for over 20 years, and each year is becoming bigger than the last. What has the journey been like?

It’s been an exciting one. In terms of just growth, of our festival properties, of the relationships we’ve developed with our host partners. When you look at the music industry as a whole, and the event and live entertainment industry as a whole, 60% of the audience is willing to buy around one ticket a year, or one experience a year. And then 60% of that audience will buy multiple, and around 6% of that audience will then go to festivals and things along those lines.

So, where I see the US market going is this movement towards not just festivals, but immersive experiences. And it’s been beautiful to see, especially from my previous experience. It’s been great seeing the growth of the overall festival industry, and seeing so many more fans attend because it is such an amazing gateway to see music to experience live, whatever that may be — comedy, Cirque du Soleil, you name it.

I also think what we’re seeing in consumer demand is the need to go deeper, to be not only with the artists, but with their tribe, their community. And I think that is the growth that has been a lot of fun to see. We’re looking at which artists have that passionate community where they’re getting tattoos, they’re dyeing their hair, they’re doing all the things that make them probably weird within their friend group. We’ve all got those friends where we’re like, “Hey, Bob, stop talking about KISS, we get it, you’re a huge fan.” But then Bob can go on on KISS cruise and just be like, “I’m with my people!”

You’re a longtime Bonnaroo attendee and organizer, and it seems like you’ve tried to imbue the immersive experience of that festival into the Sixthman cruises.

It’s actually what inspired me to make the move. One thing that will always be near and dear to my heart is what we created with that festival and the community behind it. And I’ve always loved the idea of doing more of that. Obviously, going to destination locations in the Caribbean and all these places beyond, that kind of factors into it too. But being able to take what I know we were able to bottle up in terms of a community and do that more was what I found to be really exciting.

You’ve just finished the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise, which looked like a blast. What made you decide to celebrate the emo nostalgia happening right now?

Well, you gotta give the huge shout-out to Matt Cutshall and that team. It’s funny, our host partnerships are typically with a band. So this is our first foray with an influencer. I mean, he basically said, “I love this genre of music, I love everything that it stands for, where it is now, and the kind of the the fun behind it all.” And for him, it’s just been about cultivating that community, nurturing it, keeping it going for all of these years.

We evaluate passion, and we saw a lot of opportunity. He grew something small and has grown it to be a dedicated community. So it really was a natural conversation of, “We see what’s going on here, we know what we can do with a community in terms of bringing people together and fostering something truly special. Let us take it from the virtual world and bring your tribe together.” And I think they got it immediately. They were able to see that it was possible and what would be really fun. That team is just so creative and so fun to work with in terms of their attention to detail, their use of language and words to help create that atmosphere.

And then honestly, just to bring it live, it’s taking everything that’s been done, but manifesting it in a real world environment where everyone gets to have fun with it. Some of the best acts in the business that are the behind the the emo banner are a part of that, and they’ve done things in a way  where it’s not just a band on a stage, and it’s not just visuals that go along with it. It’s about giving the fans an opportunity to get more of that band, more of the understanding of “ why are they in that shot?” Or, “What has inspired them?” And that, I think, is what takes it to the next level. And at any event or wherever it may be, what opportunity are you going to have to get them like this? Do you get them in an intimate setting with your tribe around you? Absolutely. That’s where we pulled it together from.

Being on a cruise ship offers a different kind of relationship that fans can have to an artist. Are there any fun stories about fan connections?

There are a lot of different opportunities that the artists have to engage with their most passionate fans. It is a little scary. I think they have to open themselves up and say like, “Yeah, this is me.” So there’s some fear there. But it’s also empowering, because [you’re] having a conversation or an experience with the people that know you and love you for everything you are and what you’re doing. So they’re not gonna think it’s weird, they’re not gonna think you’re crazy, but they’re gonna be like, “Oh my God, that makes me love you even more.”

So while it can be scary, it’s also safe. One of my favorite KISS Cruise examples is Paul Stanley’s family meatball recipe being served on board. It’s that rare experience where you’re actually getting to taste something that’s hit the family table… you have the ability to experience that one on one. There are interviews and Q&A’s, you get to play games with them… it may seem cheesy and silly, but if that’s your jam, if you want to play a version of Family Feud with one of your hero bands, it’s pretty awesome. So that’s where you really get to dig in, and they get to show their personalities. I mean, are there signings and pictures? Yeah, but to me, that’s like the basics.

One thing I thoroughly enjoy is that usually, artists are guarded and they have to be — they’re on tour, they’re everywhere. But the number of artists I have seen that come on a ship guarded, and then ultimately you see them walking around like everyone else is really kind of exciting as well, because it’s a testament to the fact that they’re with their people. And you’re surrendering to the moment. It’s less about the Instagrammable moments, it’s less about sharing this with everybody. It’s more about, “I’m disconnecting, I’m living it I’m eating it, drinking it, and enjoying it.” It completely changes the vibe, and then when you get back on on land, it’s like, “Oh my God. How long till the next one again?”

What’s one common perception of cruises that you’d like to change?

Honestly, that it’s for old people. When in reality, the value behind it is unparalleled. I mean, take away the destination location, when you’re on the boat, food is taking care of, your accommodations are taken care of, your experience, automatically, is an intimate VIP-style experience. Because there are only so many people that can be on the ship. So it’s not like, “hey, how many people can we cram in this field, or parking lot, or stadium.” We’re taking these insane acts, and putting in place to where it’s intimate, no matter what. And then, oh, yeah, we’re gonna go to the Dominican Republic. We’re gonna go to Nassau, we’re gonna go snorkeling, all of that. And if you stack all of that up and add the financial costs together, it’s incredibly high value.

I think a lot of people come to the website, and they’ll see,”Oh my God, that’s 1500 bucks, I can’t do that.” But if you actually break down what you spend to go to a concert just for two hours, your parking, you probably went out to dinner beforehand, maybe you got a babysitter, all of those things, and it becomes an insane deal. I put it up against resorts, and you’re getting a better value than anything else out there. I think more people have adopted the ability to cruise and are seeking what you get out of traveling to multiple destinations or places. But there’s also something about the enjoyment of the ocean. Being out there, feeling the wind, getting the sunshine, smelling the salt, all of that mixed into it. I mean, it’s a secret sauce.

Lately, we’ve seen an influx of genre-specific, localized festivals, like When We Were Young . Looking back over the last 10 years, what did you learn by offering these specialized festival experiences?

I only see it growing. We’re starting to see more and more artists and amazing artists in a very broad sense embrace this way of engaging with their base. Music is the easiest one to conceptualize, but comedy is a big one too. I’ve got Bert Kreischer’s Fully Loaded Cruise on sale right now, and it’s absolutely crushing it. In fact, if anyone’s paying attention and trying to get on it, do it now, because it’s gonna go!

From comedy to music to sports, it really comes down to the passionate fan base. We ask first: does that fan base want to travel and be together? And then, can we deliver on an experience? So there is more interest now coming from artists than ever before, because of their ability to curate this experience and be able to deliver on every single level.

The bigger question is, can you fill a ship? That’s part of the challenge. You never want to say like, “I don’t think you can,” because we’re promoters, producers of events. So there’s a calculated risk we’re taking on it. But I think there is an opportunity where artists are coming to the table and saying, “Well, let me shoulder some of the risks, let’s help mitigate in certain ways, so we can take this chance.” We kind of look at quadrants, your high passion, high awareness artists. KISS is a great example of that very high passion, very high awareness, and then maybe some other artists have that high passion, but the awareness isn’t as high. But because that passion is so high, that’s what we’re really trying to identify, some of those artists have fans that are not getting served the way they want to be, and the way they can be. So that gives us the chance to to do something insanely special.

Coheed and Cambria is another great example. Coheed and Cambria’s fans, they got tattoos there, they’re there. But does your average person know them as well as KISS? Probably not. So it really is trying to determine who’s got the passion juice to fill it. Honestly, the sky’s the limit with this stuff. I mean, we’ve done the Walker Stalker Cruise, Impractical Jokers, so many different communities from television, to film, to comedians, to music. It’s all over the board. So there is nothing that we’re not willing to explore and see if we can bring a passionate community together in this space. That, to me, is the most exciting.

We’re serving our audience in a way that they’ve never had before. So I think we only have room for growth. And it’s just gonna be making sure that we don’t eliminate any of that “secret sauce,” that we’re able to keep going at a rate that that makes sense. And, of course, to keep putting our passengers and our guests and our artists first.

Cannonball Club

Make a Splash! Again.

Do you wade or do you cannonball.

Our Sixthman Community doesn’t wade, we don’t dip our toes in, we CANNONBALL—and few things are more exhilarating than making a splash in the world. Cannonball Club is a way to invite guests who want to experience more than one Sixthman vacation per year to get back on board an adventure at sea. The program will deliver special pricing on some of our upcoming cruises for those who are currently booked guests on a Sixthman festival.

We’re excited to see a growing number of Sixthman guests Living Loud on multiple festivals at sea. Cannonball with us and there will be a perfectly blended cocktail waiting for you when you emerge!

Currently Eligible

Sorry, there are currently no festivals eligible for Cannonball Club.

Got questions? Here are the most frequently asked

How does cannonball club work.

Any guest currently booked at full price* on an upcoming Sixthman festival may book one or more Cannonball Club events at a reduced rate. We want our guests to jump in feet first and make a big splash into another Sixthman community!

You may book a Cannonball Club cabin any time after you book a full price reservation up until 60 days after that event ends. *Reservations with a paid in full, military, first responder's, youth or single occupancy discount count as a full price reservation and are eligible for Cannonball Club.  When a guest books a Cannonball Club reservation, the full price reservation that granted access to the Club may not later be discounted for Cannonball Club or any other reason.  Sixthman reserves the right to review Cannonball Club bookings and remove discounts for ineligible guests.

How do I become a member?

All guests currently booked at full price on a Sixthman festival are considered members of Cannonball Club.

Once a member, how do I stay a member?

You will remain a member of Cannonball Club until 60 days after you return from your full price Sixthman event.

Can I book a separate room for someone else?

No. You can not book a room through Cannonball Club unless you are staying in it.  Should the Cannonball Club eligible guest cancel, any remaining guests would be responsible for the full price of the cabin.

What determines the festivals available?

Sixthman will identify festivals throughout the year that are not sold out and could use a little help to bring the party to full throttle.

How do I book a room?

Click "Book Now" for the festival you're interested in.  Once signed in to your Sixthman account, Cannonball Club members will be shown the reduced rates and will be able to complete the reservation like normal.

What if I cancel the room that gave me access to the club?

Guests who cancel a full price reservation that is paid in full can keep their Cannonball Club reservation if the cancellation is done at the 100% non-refundable rate.  Guests who cancel their primary event before paying in full may be asked to either cancel their Cannonball Club booking as well or to pay full price.

What are the benefits of being a member?

Cannonball Club members have access to reduced rates on events hand-picked by Sixthman throughout the year.   Also, studies have shown that the more days per year people spend on Sixthman events the happier they are... so don't be surprised if your overall happiness improves.

Will I still get event-specific pre-sale offers or special promotions if I book through Cannonball Club?

Other promotions or pre-sale offers including but not restricted to limited access photos with a host artist, lottery experiences, and any other limited access special events not offered to all guests are not available  to guests attending an event with a Cannonball Club rate.

What if I'm booked on two events and one of them enters Cannonball Club?

If you are booked at full price on two Sixthman events and one of the them enters the Cannonball Club, we cannot retroactively offer that discounted rate for guests booked on the event. You will be eligible for any future Cannonball Club events that enter the program while you are booked with us at full price! You will also retain full access to special promotions not available to guests booked through Cannonball Club including and not limited to applicable photos, lottery experiences, and limited attendance special shows.

What if there are two of the same events taking place and one or more of them enters Cannonball Club?

Any events with the same name, theme, and/or host artist will be considered ONE event (i.e. Outlaw Country Cruise/Outlaw Country West or The KISS Kruise Week 1/ The KISS Kruise Week 2). Cannonball Club bookings on those events will require the guest to have a full price reservation on a different, non-same event; those booked only on the same event will not be eligible for the Cannonball Club rate.

Cannonball Club exists exists in order to give guests the opportunity to try out new events they would not ordinarily attend, so we would not honor rates for guests who are essentially attending the same event.

How many festivals can I book at a reduced rate?

Although each member is limited to one room per festival, there is no limit on the number of eligible festivals you can book.

Will you ever offer Cannonball Club rates to past guests who are not currently booked?

We may from time to time reach out to communities whose cruise is not sailing in that current year but whom we feel may be interested in a specific Cannonball event. Guests already booked on the event with Cannonball rates would not be eligible.

Are single travelers eligible for Cannonball Club rates?

Yes, but all Cannonball Club rates are based on a minimum of double occupancy.  You may want to find someone to join you, or you can elect to pay for both spots in your cabin.

Do my guests also have to be members to get the rate?

No.  Only, the Lead Guest must be a member of Cannonball Club.  Any roommates will get the Cannonball Club rates whether or not they are in the club.

What determines the rates?

Sixthman will set pricing based on supply and demand. Although prices may go up, we will start with the lowest rate available.

Can I tell my friends and family about Cannonball Club?

Yes! Encourage them to book a Sixthman festival at full price so they can be let in on the fun!

Will prices rise on Cannonball Club rooms?

Your rate is locked in when you make your reservation.  But, as rooms are filled and availability decreases, Cannonball Club rates may increase for future reservations.

Are there additional discounts available?

No.  Additional discounts (youth, paid in full, military, etc) can not be combined with the already reduced Cannonball Club rates.

A passenger described the “dystopian” scene on the world’s largest cruise ship after a man went overboard Sunday and died — including the premature celebration that broke out when passengers heard he was pulled from the water.

Zachary Normandin, 31, told The Post that some 300 passengers eating dinner on Royal Caribbean’s new Icon of the Seas cheered when the captain informed the ship that the missing traveler was found.

Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas, billed as the world's largest cruise ship.

“Everyone in the dining room clapped and we’re like ‘yeah,’” the Connecticut resident said. “We assumed that the guy was fine.”

But it emerged that the passenger — who has not been identified — was dead, and the 1,200-foot cruise ship continued on its voyage.

Normandin said he heard from several other passengers that the man jumped from the ship, though the Coast Guard only said he fell overboard.

The result was an almost surreal atmosphere as most travelers continued to party as if nothing had happened.

“I don’t think everyone knows about the guy dying. I think it’s kind of purposely silenced,” Normandin said, adding he doesn’t think Royal Caribbean wants to scare anyone.

The man was recovered from the water.

The Icon of the Seas, which can carry up to 7,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members, was on the first day of a seven-day voyage around the Gulf of Mexico when the tragedy occurred. It’s not due back in Miami until June 1.

It has made two ports of call, including in Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico.

The Coast Guard told The Post Monday night the cruise ship deployed rescue boats, located the man and brought him back on board.

“He was pronounced deceased,” the Coast Guard said.

Normandin, a married father of one, said the Icon of the Seas’ captain initially revealed a man had gone over the side of the ship and the vessel was forced to turn around in hopes of finding the missing traveler.

“I thought we were going straight back to Miami, I thought that was it. But no, everything just kept on going,” said Normandin, who posted part of the rescue mission on social media over the weekend.

Normandin said he’s surprised how many passengers went about their business during the search and in the aftermath even as news spread that the passenger had died.

“I think people were just trying not to think about it, maybe, I don’t know,” he said.

“It just seemed like more people would have been like ‘Oh my gosh, what’s going on,’ but no, people were just going about their day. It’s just kind of dystopian.”

Week-long voyages on the mega-ship generally cost around $1,500 to $2,000.

Royal Caribbean hasn’t said much about the incident, citing the need to give the grieving family privacy.

“Prayers to the family, I just hope they get through this,” Normandin said. “I just wish I knew who they were so I could reach out to them and hug them or something.”

Ukraine-Russia war latest: Vladimir Putin repeats warning he could send weapons to adversaries of the West

Speaking at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, Vladimir Putin also says he does not see the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons as set out in Russia's nuclear doctrine - but adds he could not rule out a change to it.

Thank you for reading.

We will be back soon with more updates from the war in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin has said he does not see the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons as set out in Russia's nuclear doctrine - but added he could not rule out a change to the doctrine.

"We have a nuclear doctrine which states that the use of nuclear arms is possible in an exceptional case, when the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country is threatened," he told the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"But the doctrine can be changed.

"The same applies to nuclear tests. We will carry out tests if needed, but so far there is no such need."

Russia could send weapons to adversaries of the West, Vladimir Putin has warned for a second time.

The Russian president repeated the warning from earlier this week during the St Petersburg Economic Forum.

He did not say what countries or entities he was referring to, and he stressed that Moscow is not doing it currently.

"If they supply (weapons) to the combat zone and call for using these weapons against our territory, why don't we have the right to do the same?" he told the crowds.

"But I'm not ready to say that we will be doing it tomorrow, either."

On Wednesday, Putin told international journalists that Russia could provide long-range weapons to others to strike Western targets in response to NATO allies allowing Ukraine to use their arms to attack Russian territory.

He also reaffirmed Moscow's readiness to use nuclear weapons if it sees a threat to its sovereignty.

Joe Biden has apologised to Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the recent delay in approving new US aid for Ukraine.

Last month, following months of political disagreements, the Senate passed $95bn (£76.2bn) in war aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan .

"I apologise for those weeks of not knowing," the US president said.

"Some of our very conservative members [of Congress] were holding it up.

"But we got it done, finally. We're still in - completely, totally."

The Ukrainian president thanked his counterpart for American assistance.

"It's very important that you stay with us," he said.

"It's very important that in this unity, the United States of America, all American people stay with Ukraine, like it was during World War Two - how the United States helped to save human lives, to save Europe."

The two men were speaking in Paris, the day after D-Day commemorations in Normandy.

Russia needs to boost its use of non-Western currencies, Vladimir Putin said as he addressed the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

He also said his country needs to reduce imports while calling for a major expansion of its domestic financial markets.

Trade with Asia is soaring, he told delegates, adding that almost two fifths of Russian external trade is now in roubles.

The share conducted in US dollars, euros and other Western currencies has declined.

Russia will try to boost the share of settlements conducted in the currencies of BRICS countries - which include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, Mr Putin said.

"Last year, the share of payments for Russian exports in the so–called 'toxic' currencies of unfriendly states halved, while the share of the rouble in export and import transactions is growing - it is approaching 40% today," the president said.

Russia has referred to nations that imposed sanctions on it as "unfriendly".

The session begins with an address by the Russian president.

Vladimir Putin says there is a race among world powers to establish sovereignty.

He speaks of the need for countries to both establish partnerships and also to look internally to tackle challenges presented by the current global economic landscape.

Despite all the "obstacles and illegitimate sanctions", Russia remains one of the world's economic leaders, he says.

He adds that "friendly countries" - those that have not joined sanctions against Moscow - account for three quarters of Russia's mutual trade turnover, and praises them for that.

Countries including India and China have strengthened economic ties since Mr Putin launched his war in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin has taken to the stage in St Petersburg to address the International Economic Forum there.

He's joined by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwais and Bolivian President Luis Alberto Arce Catacora.

Chairing the session is Sergey Karaganov - a Russian political scientist.

We'll bring you any key lines here in this live blog.

A T-shirt is on sale at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum printed with a phrase attributed to Vladimir Putin, Sky News has discovered.

"If a fight is inevitable, throw the first punch," it says.

The Russian president reportedly said it in 2015.

He apparently explained that it was something he had learned while growing up on the streets of Leningrad - a former name of St Petersburg.

The Russian defence ministry has accused Ukraine of injuring 20 people, including children, in a missile attack on the Russian-controlled eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk, using US-supplied ATACMS missiles.

Four of five missiles were shot down by air defence systems, the ministry said in a statement.

However, one of the missiles damaged two residential apartment blocks, it added, claiming it was deliberate.

Sky News is unable to verify the allegations.

There has been no immediate comment from Ukraine.

The European Commission supports starting EU accession talks with Ukraine, the country's prime minister has said.

Denys Shmyhal said the commission had confirmed in a report that Kyiv had fulfilled the remaining steps required to start negotiations.

"Now we expect our European partners to take the next step - to start negotiations on European Union membership this month," Mr Shmyhal said on Telegram.

Earlier (7.43am post) we reported that the commission was reportedly ready to recommend that accession talks get underway.

It is part of an attempt to signal support for Kyiv before Hungary takes over the rotating presidency of the EU next month, the Financial Times reported.

The EU announced earlier this year that it was sending an additional £42bn in aid to Ukraine - but only after  weeks of resistance from Hungary , which reportedly has concerns about minority rights in Ukraine.
