Watched Tom at The Cedar in Minneapolis. No disputing that Tom can write songs, sing, and play the piano, but the event as a whole was the dullest experience I have had at a live show. I hung in there to near the end but just couldn't manage to stay the whole way through.

This was just Tom and his "Chum" from the UK. Unfortunately, the sound was poor and the chum could not be heard playing or harmonising above Tom's piano. It was a little better when he played guitar.

When I go to a show, I expect to be entertained, but this was just such an underwhelming experience. Even the interaction with the audience, which was getting smaller as the show went on, was bordering on boring. Tom makes Leonard Cohen feel like Bruno Mars!. I read some other reviews that people were up dancing etc., but there is definitely none of that on this set.

Firstly I was disappointed to discover that there was no band with Tom for this gig. Given the rather high price of tickets I would have expected more. Add to that a venue with no bar, refreshments or toilets, a 40 minutes wait for Tom to come on, it wasn't the most comfortable of occasions. Putting 700 people in a room and letting just stand there and wait is taking the p***. I know it's not Tom's fault but I do wonder when artists will start taking the comfort and atomsphere of the venue into account when agreeing to do a gig.i think audiences are just taken for granted and treated badly.

As for the music and Tom himself. Well, it's a different experience with no band. Tom seemed to suggest we were privileged to be hearing the songs on Thier naked/original state. I'd suggest it's about money. In the UK I have paid half this price, had a support band and a full band with Tom. Maybe this is just ripoff Hong Kong?

With no band the songs are a lot more laid back and meloncholy....and a little lacking in variety after a while. We got to here a new song, as yet unrecorded. So that was nice.

Tom was quite chatty at the start which was nice but less so later and there were a lot of salient pauses between songs as if he didn't really know what to do next. Vocally and piano wise there were a few off moments but that's ok, it's live.

So overall, a little disappointing but it won't stop me buying his music again, as it's a lot better recorded.in future I will be a little more careful when deciding to go to see him, bases on venue, price and whether he has a band.

First of all, the concert was lingered for an hour. But ok, everyone knows that performers never start on time. Than before Tom Odell performed a guy called Constantine. His music was ok but I couldn't say that I'd like to visit his concert. He has a great voice, but I wasn't impressed with the music, he sounds like Ukrainian other famous singer Ivan Dorn. I didn't find him interesting or unique. Moreover, the sound was terrible.

After the warm-up came Tom with his band and from the first chords I realized that it will be great. And really, I liked the sound, improvisations and I was charmed by singer's charisma and voice. Odell really knows how to work with the crowd and he genuinely loves what he does. So, overall I'd give 8/10 for the concert due to warm-up and that I had to wait about an hour for artists to come. All the rest was actually remarkably.

Tom Odell Concert Review: A Moving Firework of Emotion

“Ladies and gentlemen, I want to hear you sing tonight,” Tom Odell shouted during his concert before launching into an acoustic version of his dynamic song “Hold Me.”

The British singer and songwriter performed at Big Night Live in Boston on Oct. 9 as part of his North American tour. Tom Odell first caught the public’s attention with his debut EP, “Songs from Another Love,” in 2012. Shortly after, his debut album “Long Way Down” topped the U.K. album charts for weeks. Odell, best known for his single “Another Love,” has since released five additional albums. Odell is promoting his newly released album, “Black Friday,” while touring the United States and Canada.

At 9 p.m. sharp, Odell slowly entered the dimly lit stage, sitting down at a piano. With a singular spotlight on him, he performed an enthralling piano ballad before transitioning into his opening number, “Giving A Fuck,” from his recent album, “Best Day of My Life.” Odell had his eyes closed, carefully singing into the microphone as he delivered each line with the kind of heart-wrenching and emotional rawness that made the audience believe every word he sang.

The 250-person audience was the perfect fit for Odell, an artist who shines in his subtle and intimate delivery. Audience members swayed to the music, closing their eyes, bathing in the melancholic melodies, and giving in to the captivating atmosphere. The British performer mastered the art of connecting: “I have a request,” Odell said. “If you are here with somebody you love tonight, I want you to turn to them and tell them you love them and give them a hug” — as he gave two audience members a hug himself, moving them to tears.

His setlist was dominated by slow indie pop ballads, such as “Smiling All The Way Back Home,” “numb,” and his new single “Black Friday,” all featuring impressively introspective and emotive songwriting. It's safe to say Odell has a niche. Each song had a similar structure and musical buildup. Predominantly, the songs started out slow, with a simple piano accompaniment by Odell himself. This was then followed by something one could describe as a sudden emotional outburst, during which Odell’s husky vocals were backed by his band with the dominating sound of an e-guitar, an e-bass, and drums.

The lighting design mirrored the structure of the songs, switching between the simplistic setup of a singular spotlight and red and blue flashing lights to reinforce the emotional build-up in the songs. Occasionally, it appeared almost comical, such as when Odell climbed on top of the piano, only to dramatically jump to the ground, accompanied by a dramatic light show. However, overall the lighting design helped to accentuate the inner emotional turmoil Odell so perfectly lays out in his songwriting.

Odell closed the 90-minute performance with a rendition of his most popular song, “Another Love.” While it is common for performers to close the concert with their best-known single, it almost seemed like Odell tried to distance himself from his 2013 success, wanting to put greater emphasis on his current artistic project. Who can blame him? It is evident that he has since grown as both a musician and an artist. For fans less familiar with Odell’s music, his performance in Boston might have come as a surprise. After all, “Another Love” can often be heard playing at a club or nightclub, yet the solemn atmosphere had little in common with a night out.

The concert seemed like the perfect event to attend with a significant other or even your parents, a fact reinforced by the age and gender balance of the audience members. Even though some of the songs could have certainly lent themselves to dancing, the intimate and solemn atmosphere translated to the audience, which preferred to stand in front of the stage in a trance-like state and take in the music, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Odell’s concert was certainly not an upbeat and energetic dance extravaganza, and instead it struck a much deeper, more emotional chord. A true masterclass in storytelling, the British singer-songwriter took the audience on an emotional and intimate journey through loss, pain, and heartache, nonetheless magically leaving them “smiling all the way back home.”

Pearl Jam kicked off their 2024 tour in Vancouver on Saturday night with a rousing 25-song performance.

The show kicked off with “Wash” from their Lost Dogs compilation and was followed by performances of “Low Light,” “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town,” and “Given to Fly.” From there, Pearl Jam showcased material from their new album, Dark Matter , with “Scared of Fear,” “React, Respond,” “Wreckage,” and “Dark Matter,” and then dusted off “Leatherman” at the request of drummer Matt Cameron for the first time in eight years.

The second half of Pearl Jam’s set consisted of songs like “Corduroy,” “Red Mosquito,” a cover of Mother Love Bone’s “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns,” and “Porch,” with the encore featuring performances of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down,” “Black,” “Do the Evolution,” “Something Special,” “Alive,” Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World,” “Yellow Ledbetter,” and “Setting Sun.”

Pearl Jam will return to the stage in Vancouver for another show on Monday, May 6th, before crossing the border into the US for dates in Portland, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and more. The band will be on the road — both in North America and Europe — through the end of September. Tickets to their upcoming shows are available here .

2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson prize money payouts for each PGA Tour player

It pays to play well on the PGA Tour. Just ask  this week’s winner, Taylor Pendrith .

The 32-year-old won the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, on Sunday after a late birdie on the 72nd hole to secure his first-ever win on the PGA Tour in his 74th start.

For his efforts, Pendrith will take home the top prize of $1.71 million, while Kohles, who was in the lead before a bogey on the par-5 18th, will bank $1.03 million as a consolation prize.

Setlist + Video – Pearl Jam Launch 2024 Tour

Pearl Jam kicked off their 2024 global tour on Saturday night in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The evening’s set list included classics like “Daughter,” “Alive” and “Yellow Ledbetter,” plus selections from the band’s recently released album, Dark Matter . There was also a jarring moment in which guitarist Mike McCready fell off the stage during his solo in “Porch,” though he appeared to be alright.

Dark Matter was produced by Andrew Watt, who Eddie Vedder recently described as the “perfect producer” for Pearl Jam.

“His style is he has got a guitar on the whole time you’re playing with him, he’s playing with you, he’s playing with the band. We’ve never done anything like that before,” Vedder explained to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “He actually can fit in a way that it sounds right, and that’s just how he produces. He plays along. He’s got to feel the music in the way that the band does.”

Where Does Pearl Jam Head Next?

Pearl Jam will play a second show at the same venue in Vancouver, before traveling south to the U.S. They’ll perform in cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Seattle and then take the tour overseas to the U.K., Germany, Spain and Portugal. The band will return to the States in August, hitting east coast locations like Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia and more, and finally fly to New Zealand and Australia for September shows.

Bruce Springsteen is bringing his Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 2024 World Tour to Cardiff

Granted, it's still not easy on the bank account, but with a show that's going to be probably three hours long and full of high energy, super Springsteen hits and more , it's going to be worth it to be in the presence of one of the world's greatest ever rock stars. Now these £74.60 are available from Ticketmaster and there are plenty left, but, just to include all the information, they are on the side, block U32 to be exact, so you won't be able to see the show full frontal and they are sold as having an "obstructed view".
