The Margeride tour is a hiking trail in the form of a loop, of about 200 km , that can be covered in about 7 to 8 days. Your hike will be in the Lozère department, but also on the borders of the departments of Haute-Loire and Ardèche.

Your trip will include a hint of the Aubrac and the Santiago de Compostela route (GR©65) via Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole or Peyre-en-Aubrac. You'll reach the slopes of Mont Lozère and cross the Stevenson trail (GR©70)  between La Bastide-Puylaurent and Cheylard-l'Evêque.

With views of immense meadows, forests, moors and granitic rocks , the Margeride tour will surprise you with the diversity of its landscapes . You'll also follow in the footsteps of the famous Beast of Gevaudan , a legendary animal that was roaming this region between 1764 and 1767. You never know what you may come across at a bend of the path...

Tour des Monts de Margeride en randonnée

La Margeride fait partie des territoires qui ne laissent pas indifférents. Cette montagne granitique qui s'étire sur plus de 60 km mérite que l'on prenne du temps pour la comprendre et l'apprécier. Pratiquer l'itinérance sur ces hautes terres constitue alors le moyen privilégié pour aller à la rencontre d'une géographie généreuse.

Au gré des sentiers et chemins empruntés, prairies, forêts, landes, tourbières, chaos de granit ... vous invitent à l'évasion et à l'immersion au coeur d'une nature sauvage. sans oublier la rencontre et les échanges avec vos hôtes qui seront autant d'occasions pour découvrir un terroir et des savoirs-faire d'une grande authenticité..

tout s'est très bien passé...très beau circuit ...bon accueil ...hébergements très bien...... une fois le chemin était trop encombré de genets ..on a pu facilement faire un petit détour...

on est prêt à repartir vers un autre circuit .....

Je suis ravie de ma rando de la semaine dernière. Je vous ai fait de la pub partout !

J’ai apprécié les variantes proposées pour éviter les routes goudronnées (Truc Fortunio), même si ça a rallongé le trajet. La vue était exceptionnelle, ça aurait été dommage de rater ça.

J’ai moins apprécié le secteur du Chemin de St Jacques.

Concernant les hébergements, les petits gites sont topissimes ! Accueil, repas, convivialité. Les hôtels, j’aime moins, trop impersonnels, mais bon, en m’y prenant au dernier moment, je ne me plains pas.

Mais pour moi ce que je recherchais c’était calme, solitude, chemins non goudronnés, variété des paysages, et convivialité et rencontres le soir au gîte. (je suis quelqu’un de très social !).

Peut-être quelque chose qui m’a manqué dans le livret : un petit peu d’histoire sur le pays , un descriptif de ce qu’on voit, un peu de géologie, de faune, de flore… sans rentrer dans le détail bien sûr.

Je pense que je referai appel à vous pour d’autres rando.

Mon ami et moi sommes revenus très satisfaits de notre « Tour de la Margeride en randonnée », d’autant que la météo nous a été très favorable, même en cette période de canicule. Il faut dire qu’autour de 1300 ou 1500 m d’altitude, il y a toujours un peu d’air.

En pleine période estivale, nous n’avons pratiquement pas rencontré d’autres randonneurs, sinon sur le tronçon commun au chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle, lors de la première étape. Pour ceux qui recherchent le calme et la solitude, cela mérite d’être signalé !

A défaut d’être partout balisé, le circuit nous a semblé bien tracé dans l’ensemble, même si certains sentiers, plus entretenus, ont disparu dans les ronces ou les broussailles (ainsi, pour l’étape 3, le sentier censé éviter au randonneur d’arriver par la route au gîte) et si certaines récentes éoliennes, repères bien commodes, ne figurent pas encore sur les cartes au 1/25.000 ème. Outre la carte et la boussole, avoir un GPS s’est avéré pour nous rassurant et utile à certains passages.

Nous avons partout été bien accueillis et retrouvé sans problème à chaque étape nos sacs transportés par le taxi .

Au départ de la boucle, à St Alban-sur-Limagnole, vous pouvez recommander aux randonneurs la scénovision de 45 mn qui constitue une bien agréable et très originale présentation de la Margeride et sympathique introduction à la rando.

Longue vie donc à LANGUEDOC NATURE et à ses partenaires locaux ! Nous avons, grâce à vous, passé une bien agréable semaine.

Pour notre 2° séjour avec vos prestations, nous sommes partis l'esprit tranquille faire ce magnifique tour de la Margeride ou les paysages et votre circuit nous ont comblé.

Nous avons été satisfait de l'ensemble des hébergements avec un point fort au gîte à la ferme où nous avons passé une soirée autour d'une table très riche humainement et qualitativement. Nous avons été aussi comblé par la soirée "jambon à la broche" animé par un accordéoniste aux Bouviers.

C'est donc avec plaisir que nous vous décernons un avis plus que positif (et je pense que nous reviendrons vers vous pour de nouvelles aventures).

Bonjour Nous sommes absolument ravies de notre tour en Margeride ! L' accueil était parfait à chaque étape, les repas variés et préparés avec soin. Les piques niques étaient également copieux. Une seule petite remarque : Le chemin de Arzenc de Randon n' est plus entretenu (orties, ronces et vipères nous a-t-on dit ) et donc impraticable; nous avons dû emprunter la route ce qui manque de charme. La Margeride est réellement une région à découvrir par sa beauté et son relief très diversifié. Nous avons laissé le premier jour la foule des randonneurs sur le Chemin de Compostelle, pour marcher nous 4 pendant 6 jours en toute solitude ! Ce séjour nécessite une condition physique correcte et une certaine endurance (longueur de certaines étapes et dénivelé). Comme pour toute activité sportive sur plusieurs jours, nous vous conseillons (dans la mesure du possible) de vous préparer physiquement en pratiquant la marche de manière à acquérir de l’endurance ou à la renforcer. Quelques séances de gym ou de footing peuvent également contribuer à vous préparer pour ce séjour.

Cette randonnée itinérante de 6 jours vous emmène découvrir le coeur des Monts de Margeride avec notamment le passage à son son point culminant : le Truc de Fortunio (1552 m), l'occasion de découvrir chaque jour des paysages d'une grande variété.

Tour de la Margeride (Lozère)

La Margeride est connue pour être le théâtre de l'histoire de la Bête du Gévaudan, une créature mystérieuse qui aurait tué plus de 100 personnes dans les années 1760. La Margeride est une région à la nature préservée. Elle abrite une faune et une flore diversifiées, dont de nombreuses espèces endémiques. La faune de la Margeride est dominée par les cerfs, les chevreuils, les sangliers et les renards. On y trouve également des rapaces tels que les buses, les faucons et les aigles. La flore de la Margeride est composée de forêts de hêtres, d'épicéas et de sapins. On y trouve également des prairies, des landes et des tourbières.

Au nord-est de la Lozère, la Margeride ondule dans une douceur verdoyante à la belle saison et sous une blancheur immaculée durant l’hiver. D’une superficie de 1 600 km², c’est le plus grand plateau granitique d’Europe, débordant sur le Cantal et la Haute-Loire. Il culmine à 1 300 mètres d’altitude. Parmi ses sommets, trois s’élèvent à plus de 1 500 mètres : le Signal de Randon, le Truc de Fortunio (1 551 m) et le Moure de la Gardille (1 503 m), où les rivières Allier et Chassezac prennent leur source.

Traverser la Margeride, c’est découvrir des tourbières, des prairies, des sous-bois et des cours d’eau. Le plateau recèle une grande richesse floristique : orchidées, plantes carnivores, digitales, bruyères, gentianes, lys martagon… Quant à la faune, elle est tout aussi variée, des insectes hôtes de la flore aux animaux typiques des milieux : cervidés, sangliers, lièvres, poissons, écrevisses et loutres. Cette biodiversité est intimement liée à l’hydrographie. Surnommée le “château d’eau du Massif central”, la Margeride alimente les rivières Loire, Garonne et Rhône.

L’histoire de la Margeride remonte loin. Son nom provient d’une seigneurie dont le château fut ruiné au XVe siècle, ainsi que d’une forêt culminant à 1 380 mètres d’altitude près de Védrines-Saint-Loup. L’Office national des forêts officialisa ce nom au XIXe siècle, l’attribuant à la partie lozérienne du massif. Au XXe siècle, le nom s’étendit à l’ensemble du plateau granitique. En Margeride, il faut se perdre sur les chemins, oublier le GPS pour découvrir des sous-bois moquettés de mousse, des hameaux aux maisons de pierre et aux toits de lauzes pâles, aux larges pierres de voûtes et aux frontons datés. Les lieux-dits portent des noms évocateurs tels que Chabannes, Montchamp, Les Estrets… Des vaches guettent le voyageur, parfois confondues avec les chaos de granit dispersés dans l’herbe rase, parmi les haies d’arbres et les bois touffus.

La Margeride, c’est bien plus qu’un paysage : c’est une invitation à l’émerveillement, à la découverte des trésors cachés dans ses recoins mystérieux.

From all the geographical areas of Lozère , the Margeride is certainly the least known. However, these vast hilly expanses composed of meadows and forests, have kept their wild sides and are very appreciated with nature lovers .

Margeride, Land of secrets

The Margeride is a natural region of the french Massif Central.

It is located between: * Velay in the North and Aubrac in the West, 2 regions to which La Margeride is strongly related. * The Causses and Cévennes to the South, from which it is clearly distinguished.

A preserved flora and fauna

The Margeride is a granite high plateau in the french Massif Central at an altitude of 1200 to 1500 m. Sparsely populated (14 inhabitants / km²), it straddles the three departments of Cantal , Haute-Loire and Lozère .

Its relief is very eroded, covered with moors, pines and pastures, sometimes still beech and birch forests where the granitic parent rock is frequently seen.

Nature is there, everywhere! And the man is still just a guest there.

The Margeride, A Hiking country

The country has historically been dedicated to livestock farming. The climate is harsh and the winters are long, snowy and windy. These large wooded areas are ideal for walking, hiking, horseback riding or mountain biking.

This territory also hosts on its soil, 2 famous hiking trails (GR) – The Way of Santiago de Compostela (From the Puy-en-Velay) – The Stevenson Trail (from Monastier Sur Gazeille to Saint-Jean du Gard).

Charpal is very appreciated for the superb environment that surrounds it. A very nice trail (8,7 kilometers = 5mi 714 yd) makes the tour of the lac. Moreover, it is the largest fishing lake “No-kill” of France (we release the fish).

Lovers of nature and tranquility will know how to perceive in these large spaces, where the human presence is discreet, all the wild beauty that still remains in little territory of the hexagonal hinterland.

Sentiers en Margeride

Topo-guide® : Des Gorges de l'Ardèche à la Margeride, réf. 407

Le GR®4 relie la Provence à l’Océan Atlantique en partant de Grasse pour rejoindre Royan. Malgré un nom réduit à un numéro (4) peu évocateur c’est LE GR® du patrimoine naturel remarquable : le grand canyon du Verdon, le Mont Ventoux, les gorges de l’Ardèche, la Margeride, les volcans du cantal et le Puy Mary, les lacs d’Auvergne et le Puy de dôme, le plateau du Limousin… Quelle liste ! Quelle variété de paysages !

Passant par Grandrieu au cœur de la Margeride le GR®4 a aussi la particularité de relier deux GR® mythiques : Le Saint-Jacques (GR®65) et Le Stevenson (GR®70). Deux jours suffisent.

La variante du GR®4 permet aussi de partir de Grandrieu et de rejoindre sur les hauteurs du massif le Domaine du Sauvage (le bien nommé), lieu de passage et de halte de tous les jacquaires.

Le GR®43 « draille de la Margeride », chemin de transhumance, menait autrefois les troupeaux des plaines du Languedoc aux estives des plateaux de la Margeride.

Arrivant des Cévennes il remonte sur le Massif de la Margeride et suit la crête jusqu’à Sainte-Eulalie réserve de bisons d’Europe. C’est un itinéraire qui permet de découvrir la Margeride dans ce qu’elle a de plus sauvage et de plus beau : sa forêt, ses pins et ses hêtres tourmentés, ses landes où règnent la bruyère et les blocs de granite et ses nombreux points de vue.

Le Gr470 Sources et gorges de l'Allier vous invite à remonter la vallée de l'Allier de Brioude jusqu'aux sources, de la Haute-Loire à la Lozère. Parfois au bord de l'eau, le long des gravières où les saumons viennent frayer, parfois sur ses coteaux lorsque les gorges deviennent inaccessibles. Le train Cevenol vous permettra de rejoindre le point de départ.

Le GR®de Pays « Tours de la Margeride » propose quatre boucles pour découvrir la partie Lozérienne du massif de la Margeride.

La boucle de Grandrieu progresse par des chemins anciens etdes hameaux typiques jusqu’au Lac de Charpal. Le sentier revient ensuite par les crêtes et offre de magnifiques points de vue sur le versant ouest de la Margeride, la vallée de la Truyère, le plateau de l’Aubrac et le volcan cantalien. De l’autre côté, sur le versant est, le regard s’étend sur la vallée de l’Allier, les hauts plateaux du Velay et le Mont Mézenc.

Au coeur de la Margeride, dans l'ancienne province du Gévaudan, les chemins de randonnées s'entrecroisent à souhait à travers un réseau d'anciennes voies romaines, de drailles ou autres estrades. De fours en moulins, de croix en fontaines, venez découvrir Grandrieu et ses alentours, étoilé de ses dix clochers, dans un paysage de croupes vallonnées où alternent forêts denses, pâtures et landes à genêts.

Pour les botanistes chevronnés et exigeants des liens sur le site et des QR-codes sur les panneaux permettent d'en savoir plus sur la flore de la Margeride.

Tadej Pogacar is in pole position to win a maiden Giro d'Italia title - so naturally, attention shifted to the Tour de France during the first rest day in Italy. Pogacar will resume his rivalry with Jonas Vingegaard in France, although the Visma-Lease a Bike star has a cloud of uncertainty above him as he navigates the comeback trail after being seriously injured in a crash in April.

Tadej Pogačar knows a lot can happen in the coming two weeks at the Giro d’Italia , but he already has one eye on the future.

The Tour de France , more specifically.

With a tidy lead of 2:40 to his nearest rival going into Tuesday’s mountaintop finale, Pogačar suggested he will be racing to win his first pink jersey, but he’ll try doing it without going all-in.

The Tour and the yellow jersey are already on his radar.

“It’s in the back of my mind,” Pogačar said in a rest day media call. “That’s why I’m happy I have a big gap. I don’t need to push too much over the limit.”

The high-wire act of measuring efforts at the Giro and having something left over for the Tour is something that’s foiled some of cycling’s biggest names during the past 25 years.

Marco Pantani was the last rider to win the elusive Giro-Tour double, and riders such as Alberto Contador, Chris Froome, and Vincenzo Nibali all fell short in the quest to join one of cycling’s most elite clubs.

So far, Pogačar’s avoided crashes, illnesses, or other setbacks, with a bout with Italy’s notorious spring pollen being his most durable rival.

Ineos Grenadiers, with third-place Geraint Thomas , and Bora-Hansgrohe’s Daniel Martinez will still have something to say before the Giro ends in Rome on May 27.

‘Now it’s more defensive racing’

So far, Pogačar’s opening act at the Giro has been near-perfect. With three stage-wins in nine days of racing, he’s carved out a comfortable margin that will allow him to race defensively for the remaining two weeks.

That big question is, will he?

Pogačar loves to attack, and he’ll have another chance as soon as Tuesday’s uphill finale in the 142km stage 10 from Pompei to the Cat. 1 summit at Bocca della Selva.

Is cycling’s most exciting and attacking rider even capable of racing more conservatively? It would be a first.

“It’s really good to have a little bit of a time gap,” he said. “Now it’s more defensive riding and using the team as much as possible to bring me to the finish line.”

Just as he was saying that he would be holding something in reserve for the Tour, Pogačar admitted he is licking his chops at the prospect of racing over the Mortirolo, the Stelvio ( if it’s passable due to snow ), and Monte Grappa, all looming in the back half of the Giro.

“The last day of this week is a massive stage, it will be the hardest I’ve ever ridden,” Pogačar said. “I’m really excited to go over the Mortirolo. I’ve trained a lot there, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Pogačar said the opening week was a “10 out of 10,” and lauded his UAE Team Emirates teammates despite some suggestions that the Giro squad is somehow a “B-team.”

“I’m used to it now that media and competitors try to undermine us and say that we don’t have a good team,” he said. “Everyone can say this, but we will show otherwise, we prove it over and again. Even if we don’t have all the biggest names here, we’re working really well.

“If someone told me that I’m leading with 2:40 I would have signed it right away,” he said. “Anything can happen. I just need to be ready and always have a mindset to keep pushing to the end, even if I have a bad day or something.”

Météo : la pluie de retour presque partout en France, de fortes précipitations dans les Cévennes

Sur les hauteurs du département de l’Hérault, il pourrait tomber jusqu’à 100 litres par mètre carré en quelques heures, un cumul toutefois loin des records.

Ce mardi est une journée pluvieuse, particulièrement dans le sud de la France. Météo France fait état d’une perturbation qui traverse tout le pays et progresse lentement vers l’ouest.

Dans l’après-midi, une très large partie du pays sera concernée par des précipitations. « Les pluies soutenues vont de la baie de Somme à la principauté d’Andorre. » Les régions où elles tomberont de la manière la plus intense vont « des plages languedociennes vers les Cévennes et le sud de l’Auvergne où elles prennent un caractère orageux ».

Sous ce ciel pluvieux, les températures seront basses pour la saison. Elles iront d’une quinzaine de degrés à 20 °C dans le nord de la France, soit globalement 4 °C ou 5 °C sous les moyennes. Dans le sud du pays, l’écart avec les moyennes sera encore plus important. Avec des maximales majoritairement comprises entre une petite quinzaine de degrés et 19 °C, elles seront jusqu’à 7 °C ou 8 °C sous les moyennes. Dans les Bouches-du-Rhône et l’ouest du Var, il fera un peu plus de 20 °C. Deux régions sortiront du lot avec des températures estivales et donc nettement au-dessus des moyennes : en Corse et en Alsace il fera 25 °C, voire un peu plus.

À l’échelle locale, une certaine vigilance s’impose dans le secteur des Cévennes. Cette chaîne de montagnes située au sud-est du Massif central à la jonction des départements de l’Hérault, du Gard, de la Lozère et de l’Aveyron, va une nouvelle fois connaître d’importantes précipitations . Cette carte de Météo France montre, pour le département de l’Hérault et ses abords, que des pluies intenses sont prévues dans l’après-midi. Keraunos , l’observatoire des tornades et orages violents, signale que « quelques orages pourraient se développer ».

Une incertitude demeure sur la quantité de pluie qui pourrait s’accumuler dans la région. Une tendance aux environs d’un total de 100 mm maximum en quelques heures semble se dégager, soit jusqu’à 100 litres par mètre carré. Un tel total resterait très loin des records , qui peuvent atteindre plusieurs centaines de millimètres en 24 heures.

Météo France a toutefois placé l’ensemble de la région en vigilance jaune (niveau 2 sur 4) en raison des pluies et des orages. D’après le site Météo Languedoc , « si les plus gros cumuls sont prévus sur le centre et l’est de l’Hérault, les averses débordent de plus en plus vers le Gard et les Cévennes lozériennes. Les plaines entre Montpellier, Lunel, Nîmes et la basse vallée du Rhône sont les plus exposées ». Les pluies cesseront progressivement dans la soirée et dans la nuit.

Météo Languedoc détaille les cumuls attendus, sachant que les millimètres peuvent se convertir en litres par mètre carré. « On prévoit souvent 10 mm à 20 mm entre l’Aude et le nord des Pyrénées-Orientales, 20 mm à 30 mm sur le sud des Pyrénées-Orientales, localement 35 mm. Dans l’Hérault, les cumuls atteignent 20 mm à 40 mm sur les plaines littorales, jusqu’à 40 mm à 60 mm dans l’intérieur des terres et ponctuellement 80 mm sur les zones de piémonts. On peut s’approcher des 100 mm sur les reliefs, ou les dépasser, très localement ».

Dans le Gard, 20 mm à 30 mm sont attendus sur les basses plaines et la vallée du Rhône, « 30 mm à 50 mm dans l’arrière-pays près des Cévennes et jusqu’à 80/120 mm sur le Nord-Ouest. Dans la Lozère, il pourrait tomber 20/30 mm sur le nord de l’Aubrac et de la Margeride, 30/50 mm sur les Causses et environs de Mende, 70/100 mm sur les Cévennes ».

Consider Your Lodging and Transportation Choices First

Before buying a ticket, be sure that you will have accommodations available. If you can book a hotel that’s within walking distance of a stadium and know the area is safe, that is ideal. Otherwise, check bus and train schedules for the night of your venue, then look at hotels that might be close to bus or train stops.

With tens of thousands of fellow concertgoers leaving at the same time, transportation can get tricky. If you book a room that’s farther from the venue, try to get a rental car instead of vying for a taxi or rideshare after the show. If you do that, just be sure parking will be available. You may need to buy a parking pass from the venue.

Also be aware that hotel room prices skyrocket when Swift is in town because there is such a high demand. If you are renting a car and don’t mind a longer drive, you can save a lot of money by booking a hotel room that’s a longer drive from the venue.

Enjoy The Moment

Amy Wilkinson, a 49-year-old Swiftie from Tucson, AZ, went viral in December 2023 for her reenactments of The Eras Tour performances using Elf on the Shelf dolls. She posted them to her Instagram, @Tswizzle_Momma , and found thousands of people watching each time she posted her videos. Like many other Swifties in the US, she is flying to Europe for The Eras Tour.

Wilkinson told me she had this advice for fellow fans going to the show abroad, “Enjoy the entire experience, from the moment you get on the plane until the morning after. You may be going for the concert, but the memories are made in the details. See the sights. Enjoy the food. Meet other Swifties. This is at the heart of what international travel is about.”

Make The Friendship Bracelets

Rebecca Bartley, a Swiftie from Nova Scotia, Canada, is going to Sweden to see The Eras Tour. She advises bringing friendship bracelets to share with fellow concertgoers on the night of your show. Wilkinson suggested making friendship bracelets in the language of the country where you’ll be seeing the show.

It’s easy to learn how to make friendship bracelets. I had never dabbled in making jewelry before, but now I find great joy in creating friendship bracelets. I created dozens and handed them to fans at The Eras Tour movie.

To make friendship bracelets, I start by choosing the colors I want and which word or phrase I want the bracelet to express. Then I choose colorful beads and pick out all the necessary letter beads.

Next, I cut off elastic string. I find it’s best to use Stretch Magic elastic string because of its strength and durability. To make the bracelets, I cut off a piece of string that’s twice as long as I need so that there is ample room for cutting and tying multiple knots.

Then I tape one end of the string to my workspace, string the beads I have set aside until I feel like the bracelet is complete. Being careful to not let any of the beads slide off the string, I then wrap it around my wrist to see how it fits and then consider whether I am making the bracelet for a wrist that’s likely larger or smaller than mine. (Also, with elastic string, there’s room for a flexible fit.) I adjust accordingly.

As a last step, I make four to five knots in the string to tie off the bracelet. Many fans choose to add a dab of fabric glue to the end of the knot, but I found that got really messy and wasn’t necessary if you make multiple knots. Then I tuck the knots into one of the beads so that it doesn’t show on the bracelet. Then the bracelet is concert-ready!

Keep in mind that there are a lot of other ways to make friendship bracelets that are for more involved and creative that mine. And, if the idea of making friendship bracelets doesn’t sound fun to you, don’t worry. You can buy premade friendship bracelets on Etsy. Some Etsy shops like RainFoxx13 and BonniesBracelet have elaborate, beautiful friendship bracelets that you may want to keep for yourself. Others sell packs of friendship bracelets in bulk.

If you don’t want to trade friendship bracelets, that’s okay, too. The Swiftie community is accepting and supportive, and you still may get several bracelets as gifts.

What To Wear To The Eras Tour

There are no rules for what you should wear to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour beyond the guidelines from the venue. Some fans go casual, and others choose to dress to the nines for the show. Some fans choose to wear merch from Taylor Swift’s official store . Many fans choose to dress up in costumes inspired by Swift’s songs and lyrics.

With the release of The Tortured Poets Department and its video “Fortnight,” some fans are choosing to imitate some of her looks from the video. Others are wearing their interpretation of the incredible costumes she wears during The Eras Tour concert. Others look at past eras for inspiration. You are likely to see every era represented in fan costumes at a show.

What You Should Bring To The Eras Tour In Europe

Wilkinson advised me that the number one thing to bring is a portable phone charger. If you plan on recording video and taking photos, your phone’s battery may die down quickly, and a phone charger can ensure you can keep capturing the memories all night.

Earplugs are a good idea if you’re sensitive to loud noise. If you’re bringing kids along, they are a must. They ensure you can enjoy the music while protecting your ears.

Bring along a cardigan or jacket. Layering is a good idea for a concert during the summer. Although it may be hot in the stadium, you might be chilly on the way home from the show.

You can’t go wrong bringing along hand sanitizer and a travel pack of tissues. Even if you can get through “All Too Well” without tearing up, you may cry at the sheer excitement of the experience. It can be intense in the best way.

If you have tickets that are far back, bring along binoculars to see close-up details.

What To Avoid At The Eras Tour

Don’t come to the stadium with a big bag. If you haven’t attended stadium concerts before, you may not know that you need to carry a clear bag if you want to bring a purse. It also has to fit within the measurements allowed in the stadium, so you can’t just buy a clear backpack and expect to get in the show. Check with your show’s venue to make sure you follow their rules for what you can bring.

How To Get Taylor Swift Tickets In 2024

Tickets have already gone on sale for the rest of the currently confirmed dates of The Eras Tour for 2024. However, you can get secondhand tickets from resellers. It’s usually not a good idea to buy from individuals in Facebook groups offering to sell tickets. That’s hard to verify, and many are scammed that way. Instead, check with the individual venue to see how their resell process works. It varies throughout Europe depending on the country and the individual stadium.

Taylor Swift's European Eras Tour leg kicked off in Paris with a new setlist. See which songs are in and out.

Taylor Swift fever struck Paris on Thursday as the highest-grossing tour in history finally arrived in Europe, with fans treated to the first-ever performance of songs from her latest album.

The Eras Tour began its European leg with four dates at the La Defense Arena in Paris.

"I wish I could have toured Europe more. This is a dream crowd," the 34-year-old megastar told the ecstatic audience.

There were deafening shrieks as images of typewriter sheets indicated that songs off the new album "The Tortured Poets Department" were starting late in the show.

Emerging in a lyrics-covered dress, she ran through several of the darker new tracks starting with "But Daddy I Love Him" and "Fortnight", a particularly furious rendition of "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" and an elaborate "I Can Do it with a Broken Heart," with a golden-era Hollywood dance routine.

Other "The Tortured Poets Department" songs performed included "So High School," "Down Bad" and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," according to ETonline .

"You were the first crowd to see songs from 'The Tortured Poets Department'," she said, before adding: "Or, as I like to call it, 'Female Rage: the Musical.'"

That was a dream come true for many in the audience.

"I've been so excited for so long, I can't believe it's actually happening," said 11-year-old Emma, who had flown in with her mother from New York.

Adding songs from "The Tortured Poets Department" wasn't the only change to the show and its 45-song setlist.

Perhaps the biggest change, according to ETonline, is the "Folklore" and "Evermore" setlists were combined, cutting four songs across the two albums: "'Tis the Damn Season," "Tolerate It," "The 1" and "The Last Great American Dynasty."

"On the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter," Swift said, according to video posted to social media. "You can call it "Folklore, Evermore" or you can call it the Sister Albums! You can call it whatever you want as long as you promise to sing 'Champagne Problems' with me."  

"The Archer" was removed from the "Lovers" portion of the show and "Long Live" was cut from the "Speak Now" era setlist, according to ETonline.

One of the secret songs was, fittingly, the "Midnights" bonus track "Paris."  

Parts of the show were also rearranged to make room for the newest era. The "Red" era was moved from the fifth to the third slot, according to ETonline, and the newest album was introduced following the "1989" set.

The venue said a fifth of the crowd were from the United States — many attracted by Europe's rules against charging huge mark-ups on resale tickets that can save Americans thousands of dollars compared with shows at home.

Georg'Ann Daly decided to celebrate her 23rd birthday with the Paris show. It meant flying from Nashville to Chicago to London and catching the Eurostar to Paris.

"I've always been obsessed with Taylor Swift," she told AFP.

A handful of superfans camped out from Tuesday in Paris to ensure they got a prime spot.

"I didn't plan to, but I came to check it out and I saw the first tents and I panicked a little," said Chris, 30.

Noah, 20, is seeing all four Paris concerts — he used 22 email addresses to get through the lottery system and secure the tickets.

After wrapping up her run in Paris, Swift will head for dates in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

The Eras Tour has worked its way across North and South America and Asia since starting in March 2023.

By the end of the year, it had already become the first to sell more than $1 billion in tickets and is on track to more than double that by the time it concludes in Vancouver this December.

Swift's popularity shows no sign of dimming — the new album sold 1.4 million copies on its first day and broke every streaming record , reaching a billion streams on Spotify within five days.

Swift's tell-all dissections of her love stories have been the fuel powering her global domination, and fans have been poring over "The Tortured Poets Department" for cryptic clues about ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, her short-but-dramatic fling with Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975), and her current partner, American football star Travis Kelce.

"Taylor talks about toxic relationships, impossible love, politics, mental health, and so much more," said Chris as she waited by her tent for the big moment. "I think we can all find a song that resonates with our experiences."

At Taylor Swift ‘s Paris concert on Thursday night — the European kickoff of the record-breaking tour and her first show since the album’s release — the pop icon debuted several of the new songs live at La Défense Arena, starting with “But Daddy I Love Him.” She then sang “So High School” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me” standing atop a glass-plated block that moved around the stage. “Down Bad,” “Fortnight” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” followed, with “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” marking the finale of the segment.

Following “The Tortured Poets Department” era, Swift performed “Paris” and “loml” as surprise songs during her acoustic set before concluding the show with her “Midnights” segment.

Ever since Swift announced that she’d be dropping a brand-new album in the middle of the Eras Tour, fans have been speculating as to how she would include it in the setlist . Some predicted the record would mark an entirely new era, while others thought she might just represent it within the surprise songs portion of the show.

“The Tortured Poets Department” earned critical praise as well, with Variety ‘s Chris Willman calling it “audacious” and “transfixing.” He wrote that the album “gives everyone a full dose of the never-getting-over-it Taylor that no one really wanted to get over. As breakup albums go, it’s a doozy, as they would have said back in Clara Bow’s day — an unapologetically dramatic (if often witty) record that will be soundtracking untold millions of tragic rifts to come.”

After three more dates in Paris, Swift continues the European leg of the Eras Tour in Stockholm, Sweden, before finishing with five dates in London in August.

The pearl of the valley

Nestling in the valley of the Truyère, the town of the Malzieu is rich of a thousand-year-old history that reveal its cobbled and flowery streets. Today, this fortified town has managed to preserve and enhance a remarkable heritage that attracts numerous visitors every year.

In the heart of Margeride, the medieval town of the Malzieu will not leave you indifferent ! Throughout the year, its historic centre and its surroundings offer an atypical scenery and an ideal setting for a peaceful holiday… But, calm, the streets of the Malzieu-Ville have not always been throughout history!

So let’s go back in time, shall we ?

A city with an ancient…and eventful history !

Like many places in the region, the Malzieu area seems to have been inhabited since Neolithic times! But the oldest written mention of the town dates back to 881.

In 1055, Le Malzieu became the property of the Barons of Mercœur, one of the eight baronies of Gévaudan.  The priory of Saint-Hippolyte was founded by the monks of the abbey of Saint-Gilles. In the 13th century, Le Malzieu got a brand new defence architecture (ramparts, keeps, watchtowers, fortified gates) to protect itself from the brigands who were ravaging the country at the time. During the Hundred Years Long War, the town was besieged and looted several times…

• In the 16th century, religious wars raged throughout the country and the Malzieu was not spared. In 1573, the Huguenot captain Mathieu Merle used all his cunning to take the fortified town and locked the town’s notables in the Clock Tower before ransoming their freedom!

In the 17th century, after a dark episode of black plague , a terrible fire ravaged the city… This period will also be the moment of the creation of the Brotherhood of the White Penitents in the current premises of the town hall and the convent of the Ursulines. You can also visit the convent in the summer, which has now been transformed into a museum!

From the Beast of Gévaudan to the present day…

The Malzieu-Ville and its surroundings will also be the scene of the famous story of the Beast of Gévaudan. From 1764 to 1767, it traumatised, attacked and killed in the region, leaving behind a still thick mystery that continues to fascinate ! Last but not least, during the Second World War, Margeride was a hiding place for many Jewish families as well as for artists, philisophers, scientists and resistance fighters. In this respect, the psychiatric hospital of Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole, 10 kilometres south of Le Malzieu, plays a central role.

Le Malzieu will also be a place of passage for pilgrims coming from Le Puy-en-Velay and on their way to Santiago de Compostela, as attested by some period maps and shell inscriptions. Arriving in the town, they had to cross the Truyère on the Notre-Dame bridge, before heading towards Aubrac.

Today, what’s to do in the Malzieu-Ville ?

Today, the medieval town is a great place for holidays and excursions! Close to the historic centre, a charming lake awaits you for a picnic. Take this opportunity to observe the fauna and flora of this preserved site. If you are looking for some thrills, head for the Via-Ferrata of the Malzieu ! Two secured acrobatic routes on the cliffside above the superb Truyère canyon… Not forgetting the climbing site, also in the gorges, with 67 routes. Finally, hiking will always be a good idea! At the beginning of August, when the days are still long and the nights refreshing, the Malzieu welcomes these gatherings where classical music and heritage meet.
