JAIGARH FORT – Time & Entrance Ticket

The Jaigarh Fort is located on the Aravalli Range and was built to protect Amer Fort. The fort faces the Amer Fort and Maota Lake and was constructed to protect it. The fort is known for being the site of the world's largest wheeled cannon. The hill on which the fort was built is known as “Cheel ka Teela” or Hill of Eagles. This fort is approximately 3km long and 1km wide.

JANTAR MANTAR – Time & Entrance Ticket

Jantar Mantar  is the perfect place for those who are interested in astronomy because it houses various astronomical instruments. It is considered one of the largest observatories in the world. A series of five magnificent monuments built in Jaipur, Ujjain, New Delhi, Mathura and Varanasi that symbolize an ideal blending of science, religion and art is known as the Jantar Mantar. Maharaja Jai Singh II built these structures between 1728 and 1734 CE.

Jantar Mantar is derived from the Sanskrit words "Yantra" meaning instruments and "Mantra" meaning formula. Later, 'Yantra' was replaced by 'Jantar', which means 'magical'. The Jaipur Observatory, the largest of the five observatories, boasts the world's largest sundial "Samrat Yantra". In 2009, it was added to the list of World Heritage Sites of India. HAWA MAHAL – Time & Entrance Ticket

Jaipur's Hawa Mahal, also called the Palace of Winds, is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city and is located at Johari Bazaar Road, Badi Choupad. The palace was built in 1799 CE by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh of the Kachhwaha Rajput dynasty. Designed specifically for ladies of the royal household, these veils allowed them to observe everyday activities while always remaining veiled behind the jharokhas.

Red and pink sandstone were used to construct the palace, which has been compared to the crown of Lord Krishna, the Hindu god. The Hawa Mahal is considered one of the greatest examples of Rajputana architecture. There are 953 jharokhas in the Hawa Mahal; its pyramid shape is its main attraction. ISARLAT OR SWARGASULI TOWER – Time & Entrance Ticket

Swargasuli Tower, also called Isar Lat, is one of the tallest buildings in Jaipur. It stands 42 meters (140 feet) above ground and was built in 1749 as a victory memorial. It is possible to climb to the top of the octagonal structure for spectacular views of the Pink City, or you can admire the architecture from the ground.

ALBERT HALL MUSEUM – Time & Entrance Ticket

Albert Hall Museum, one of the oldest and most prestigious museums in Jaipur, is a wonderful place to visit. It was named in honor of King Albert Edward VII of England, since he inaugurated it. It set beyond the original walled city. It was constructed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and inaugurated sometime in the late 19th century.

Maharaja Ram Singh wanted the building to serve as a town hall, but the next king- Maharaja Madho Singh II- decided to keep it as a museum. In this museum, Jaipur's cultural heritage is preserved. A few of the most impressive exhibits include the artifacts and oil paintings, water color portraits and landscapes, items made of ivory and stone, as well as mesmerizing crystal sculptures.

Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort is one of the best places to visit in Jaipur if you want a remarkable view and up-close access to historical artifacts. It's best known for housing the Jaivana Cannon, which was considered to be the world's largest cannon on wheels when it was built in the early 18th century.

Visiting the attraction gives tourists an appreciation for the fort's role in keeping Jaipur and the surrounding area safe from invaders. Akshardham Temple might look like an ancient site, but don't be fooled — this attraction was built in the 21st century as part of a series of 10 temples dedicated to the Hindu god Narayana (a form of Lord Vishnu).

Still, the 23-acre religious complex is an impressive place to spend the afternoon. The white marble and pink sandstone temple showcases the intricacy of Hindu architecture with its stone carvings of Hindu deities, animals, and scenery. The City Palace in Jaipur was once the seat of kings as it was from here that they ruled the region. One of the best tourist spots in the city, the City Palace is a vast complex and includes several buildings, courtyards and gardens.

Two of the main palaces in the complex are the Chandra Mahal and the Mubarak Mahal . The architecture is a fusion of Indian, Mughal, Rajput and even European styles and you can see the grandeur of the fusion in every nook and corner of the palace.

The red and pink sand stone in which it is built adds a special beauty to the palace. The decorated gateways add elegance and magnificence to the structure. The City Palace of Jaipur is a great example of how design, art and creativity can blend to form an exquisite symbol.

Facts about The City Palace

• The City Palace was built by Sawai Jai Singh who is also known as the founder of Jaipur City. The credit of building Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar also goes to him.
• Though the main architects behind the magnificent City Palace were Vidyadhar Bhattacharya and Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh also contributed to the architectural design of the palace.
• There are three main gates to the palace which are Tripolia Gate, Virendra Pol and Udai Pol.
• There are also four smaller gates in the third courtyard which are believed to represent four seasons.
• The peacock or the Mor Gate represents the autumn season and there are 3D models of peacocks at the gate giving it a magical view.
• The Lotus Gate was to symbolize the summer season while the Leheriya Gate for the spring season.
• The Rose Gate is the winter gate. All these gates are decorated likewise and it is a sheer delight to just look at these gates, and entering it is a bliss.
• Today, there are two parts of the palace, one which is opened for the public and also has a museum, and the other for the residence of the royal family – the descendants who live here even now.
• One of the famous items in the City Palace are two silver jars which have found place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest silver vessels in the world.
• Apart from Mubarak Mahal and the Chandra Mahal, there are Pritam Niwas Chowk, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Bhaggi Khana, Maharani Palace and the Govind Dev Ji Temple – an 18th century structure.
• The Chandra Mahal, Maharani Palace and the Bhaggi Khana have been converted into museums.
• Mubarak Mahal is a museum dedicated to royal textiles. You can see the dresses worn by queens and kings.
• The clothes worn by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I is quite a treat to the eyes as he was believed to have weighed 250 kgs.
• Baggi Khana is a place dedicated to chariots and coaches. The two prime attractions are the chariot which was used to carry the royal deity and a European Cab which was gifted to Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II by Queen Victoria herself.
• The Silehkhana has a great and fine collection of weapons and handguns used during the time. There are swords, knives, arrows, axes, and so on. The personal weapons of the kings are also displayed here.

Traveler Tips

• It is a vast complex and you will have to walk a lot. So, dress accordingly. Good walking shoes or flat footwear are preferred.
• Drinking water facility is available. So, there is no need to carry water bottles.
• The City Palace complex is disable-friendly.
• You can hire guides at the entrance (for a fee).
• Also, find more about tickets as you may have to purchase individual tickets for the palace and the museums.

About Hawa Mahal Jaipur

Hawa Mahal Jaipur, also known as Palace of winds is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Jaipur. This five-storey Palace was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 as he was inspired by the unique structure of Khetri Mahal. The Hawa Mahal was designed by Lal Chand Ustad and it is built with the use of red and pink sandstone on the edge of the City Palace and extends till Zenana or women’s chambers. 

The main highlight of the Hawa Mahal is its pyramid shape which looks similar to a honeycomb and its 953 windows called “Jharokhas” are decorated with intricate latticework. The main objective to create Hawa Mahal was to allow royal women to see everyday life as they never appeared in public. This monument is known as Hawa Mahal as its windows allow good air circulation keeping it cool. Its windows allow people to see the street view without being spotted from outside. History Of Hawa Mahal Jaipur

Hawa Mahal Jaipur was built by Rajput ruler, Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in 1799. He was inspired by the Khetri Mahal of Jhunjhunu and decided to build a Palace similar to it. This five-storey monument was designed by Lal Chand Ustad as an addition to the City Palace starting from the City Palace’s edge and extends till women’s chambers aka Zenana. During that time, the Purdah system was strictly followed and Royal Rajput Women weren’t allowed to show their face to any strangers or appear in public.

In 2006, After 50 years, Hawa Mahal went under renovation at an estimated cost of Rs 4.568 million. The monument is now managed by the Archaeological Department and Government of India.

Architecture Of Hawa Mahal Jaipur

The front elevation of Hawa Mahal from the street looks like a honeycomb with small portholes. Each porthole has small windows and carved sandstone grills, finials and domes, giving it an appearance of a mass of semi-octagonal bays. Hawa Mahal is built in the shape of Krishna’s crown as it is believed that Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh was a great devotee of Lord Krishna.

Hawa Mahal comprises 953 ‘Jhalokas’ or windows with small lattice-worked pink windows, balconies and arched roofs with hanging cornices. These windows allow royal women to observe day to day activities happening on the street below without appearing in public. These windows also allow cool breeze to pass through the Palace, maintaining a cool and well-ventilated atmosphere during summer months. These cooling effects are enhanced by the fountains at the centre of each chamber. 

The attractive aspect of Hawa Mahal is hanging cornices and you can see domed canopies, fluted pillars, lotus and floral patterns in Rajput style and stone inlay filigree work and arches in Islamic style. The interior of the Palace is not as fancy as its exterior. Unlike the lower two floors, the top three floors do not have a width of one room. The top three storeys of Hawa Mahal are single room, Vichitra Mandir, Prakash Mandir and Hawa Mandir. The first floor of Hawa Mahal is Sharad Mandir. The Maharaja used to worship God Krishna at the Vichitra Mandir, while the Prakash Mandir provides an open terrace to both sides.

Hawa Mahal Jaipur is the tallest building in the world without foundation with a height of 50 feet. Due to this, the palace is tilted at an angle of 87 degrees. There are no stairs inside the building because it was easier to carry Royal Rajput Ladies on ramps than stairs. It is the reason there are ramps to reach at the top of Hawa Mahal. Hawa Mahal also has an Archaeological Museum. In order to enter the Palace, you need to go through an Royal door which is situated towards the left of the building.

The Jaipur Composite ticket price is Rs 422 for Indian Tourist & Rs 112 for Indian Students. The Jaipur Composite ticket price for Foreign Tourist is Rs 1102 & for Foreign student is Rs 352. The City Palace One of the most magnificent marvels of Jaipur is the City Palace complex which has a rare combination of the finest blends of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. In the heart of the old city, it has a vast area. The outer wall was built by Jai Sigh and additions made up to the 20th , Century. Many buildings, well planned gardens and huge courtyards are part of the complex. For visiting dignitaries, Sawai Madho Singh ii, constructed theMubarak Mahal (Welcome Palace) as a reception centre. The Mahal comes before the main complex, though it now forms a part of the Sawai Man Singh ii museum. The museum has an array of royal costumes, shawls, embroideries, Benaras silk sarees, the Maharaja's Pyjamas, Chogas, jamawars, kamarbandhs, musical instruments like the giant sized tanpuraaand sarangis, and a set of Sawai Madho Sing I who was just over seven feet tall, over four feet wide and supported a goliathic weight of 250 kilograms. Palace A delight is the Maharani's Palace, now the armoury with arms of the 15th centurywhich include the deadly Rajput scissor action daggers which have unique working action (after the dagger entered the body, the handles were released and the blades spread. The two vessels are massive standing 160 cms and have a capacity of 9000 litres each. They are listed in the Guiness book of records as the biggest silver vessel in the world. The art gallery in the erstwhile Diwan-e-aam has a well preserved ceiling on which the original semi precious stones still retain their lusture. Suspended from the ceiling is a massive chandelier mde of crystal. The art gallery also has miniature paintings of the Rajasthani, Mughal and Persian schools featuring religious themes mainly scenes of Ramayana. There are among the 20,000 manuscripts that the museum boasts of. One can also see the finest carpets from the heart of Afghanistan & Lahore. Chandra Mahal It is the only part of the complex that is inhabited and is occupied by the royal family. The ground floor of the palace is open to the visitors, has some exhibits. What is seen from the serah Deori bazaar is the multi - niched five - storey high backside of the complex. It was conceived to provide adequate vantage position behind the stone carved mesh like screens to the palace women for watching the royal processions passing through the bazaar. The temple is built in such a fashion that the king could see the deity from Chandra Mahal opposite it.The temple is surrounded by gardens and palaces. The image of Govind Devji was originally installed in a temple in Vrindavan. Jagat Shiromani Temple The beautifull carved Jagat Shiromani Temple houses the idol of Lord Krishna and is popularly associated with celebratred saint poetess Mira Bai. The old temple of Narsinghji and stepwell Panna - Meena - ki - Baodi, which still bears witness to its past glory are also located in the vicinity. Jaigarh Fort The western skyline is dominated by the extensive parkotas (walls), watch towers and the gateways of Jaigarh Fort. It is one of the few military structures of the medieval India preserved almost intact containing palaces, garden, open and covered reservoirs, a granary, an armoury, a well planned tower and a giant mounted canon- the Jai Ban - one of the biggest in the world. Man Sagar Lake (Jal Mahal) Jal Mahal was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in1779 A.D. in the midst of the Man Sagar lake as a pleasure spot. The lake was formed by constructing a dam between the two hills by Sawai Man Singh I. During winter months one can see a large number of migratory birds at the lake. Amber Palace And Fort Complex Situated just over 10 kms away from Jaipur on the Jaipur - Delhi highway is Amber, which was the ancient capital of the Jaipur state. A bus leaves from Hawa Mahal every 30 minutes and a well - laid out road takes the visitor out of the city and very soon one witnesses lush green hills. On the notices a lake and standing next to it ids the majestic Amber Fort which is several rulers of the erstwhile state of Jaipur recognized as a vantage military building. The excursion starts with the Dil-e-Aram garden which is laid out in the traditional Mughal style. One can climb up to the fort from the road in10 minutes , go up by a jeep or even on elephant back. The diwan-e-aam (hall of public audience) has latticed galleries and double row of columns each having a capital in the elephants on the top. To the right are steps that lead to the kali temple. The temple offers a wonderful sight and has huge doors made of silver elevation and can be entered through a decorated gateway. The Jai Mandir has a glittering ceiling of mirrors and elegant inlaid panels. In front of the Jai Mandir is Sukh Niwas with a door made of sandalwood, inlaid with ivory with a channel running through which once carried cool water. The zenana or womens apartments were designed in a manner which could easily facilitate the entry of the maharaja to various chambers without any of the concubines aware of any visitor. Gaitore It is eight kilometers away from Jaipur on the road to amber, It has memorial of queens in Maharani - Ki - Chattri complex near the Ramgarh Road crossing. To the west, in a narrow valley, is the royal cremation ground and the cenotaphs of Jaipur rulers with exception of Sawai Ishwari Singh who was cremated outside Jai Niwas Garden. Galta In the vicinity of the city, 10 kms from Jaipur, Galta is situated amidst the range of hills east of the city. On the top of the hill, overlooking the the Galta valletis a Sun temple. The east of the temple is a reservoir or a tank which is fed by spring of pure water falling from a Gaumukh or an outlet shaped like the mouth of a cow. On way to Galta, by the Ghat - Ki - Guni, is a range of hills crowned with the fort of Amagarh. Statue Circle The full length white marble statue of Sawai Jai Singh installed in the centre of the circle in the newly developed C Schemearea was erected as a tribute to the founder of Jaipur. Birla Planetaurium The planetaurium is on the Statue Circle and is made of white marble. One can get a view of the cosmos with the production and sound system of the planetaurium. Located on the outskirts of the pink city of Jaipur on the Jaipur Delhi highway. In the vicinity of Nahargarh Fort, the park displays the most beautiful surroundings. It is situated alongside Aravali hills and covers 7.2 Square kms. Famous for itsvast flora and fauna, its main aim to conserve it. It also doubles up as great place to educate people and conduct research on existing flora and fauna. At Nahargarh Biological Park, Ornithologists can expect to see over 285 species of birds, of which the most popular is white - naped tit, which only can be found here. When you visit the park make sure you also head to Ram Sagar, which is a famous among bird watchers and makes for a great spot to catch different species of birds. 4. Jal Mahal

The “Water Palace,” called Jal Mahal, is a stunning architectural wonder in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Maharaja Madho Singh I erected the Jal Mahal, a beautiful fusion of Rajput and Mughal architectural traditions, in the 18th century.

13. Gaitore Cenotaphs – Gaitore ki Chhatriyaan

The Kachwaha, a Rajput dynasty who dominated the area, interred their dead at Gaitore Ki Chhatriyan, their royal cremation grounds. The complex is dotted with the cenotaphs of the royals, giving the impression of being made up of both elaborate towers and scaled-down open-air palaces. The marriage of Sawai Jai Singh II to the Mewari princess Sisodia may have had a clause mandating that Maharani Chandra Kanwar’s child become the King. However, Sawai Jai Singh I wanted Ishwari Singh to rule instead of him, something the Maharana of Mewar disapproved of. This disapproval led to a rivalry between the two brothers for the throne, leading to the Battle of Rajmahal. Sawai Ishwari Singh won and ordered the erection of this minaret in commemoration of his victory.

In contrast to the pink colour in the city’s buildings and market areas, the tower is a seven-storeyed octagonal structure constructed using a combination of Mughal and Rajput architectural traditions. Visitors may see the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of Jaipur City from the top of this tower.

Birla Mandir, thus named as Laxmi Narayan Temple is an exquisite Hindu temple that is particularly built to signify Lord Vishnu and manifestation of Goddess Laxmi. 1. City Palace, Jaipur

The glorious City Palace of Jaipur is one of the most frequented tourist attractions of Jaipur and the first place to visit with our one day private trip. This famous palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh between the years 1729 to 1732.

The outer wall of the palace was built by Jai Singh II, but the palace itself has undergone several renovations and changes over the years, with some of them having been done as recently as in the 20th century.

The vast complex of the palace occupies one seventh of the walled city. The City Palace used to be the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur for all his courtly affairs. The palace is intricately planned with a special focus on division of the complex into a series of courtyards, buildings and gardens.

The architectural style of the City Palace is an amalgamation of the Shilpa Shastra along with Rajput, Mughal and European styles. The palace was built using red and pink sandstone and has three gates named ‘Tripolia Gate’, ‘Udai Pol’ and ‘Virendra Pol’.

The gorgeous courtyards, manicured lush green gardens, splendid edifices and meticulous stonework make City Palace a perfect blend of design, art, colour and culture.

2. The Hawa Mahal, Jaipur

Hawa Mahal is a world famous architectural marvel that stands at the intersection of the main road of Badi Chaupad and in the busy market, having a private cab allows you to reach here easily. 3. Jantar Mantar, Jaipur

This observatory took five years to be constructed and was built by Raja Sawai Jai Singh between 1727 and 1733.

The instruments here pertain to Egypt’s Ptolemaic astronomy and follow three classical celestial coordinates – horizon-zenith local system, the equatorial system and the ecliptic system – to track the positions of heavenly bodies.

This observatory is also the proud owner of the world’s largest sundial. These instruments still work as well and accurately as before and have seen no damage through the centuries.

7. Amber Fort, Jaipur
