How to Plan a Road Trip From Start to Finish

What’s more American than a road trip ? Like blue jeans and apple pie, it's so embedded in the culture that travelers from around the world plan a road trip just to experience our open highways and byways. From the iconic Route 66 stretching across the heartland to the rugged beauty of the Pacific Coast Highway, the US has no shortage of scenic routes . What sets the American road trip apart is the sheer diversity of experiences on offer, from camping under a star-spangled sky to exploring epic parks like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone . “Road trips offer an opportunity to venture out and connect with a multitude of people and experiences,” says Samantha Brown , the television host behind Samantha Brown’s Places to Love on PBS. At its most basic, Brown says, road tripping is about freedom.

We asked Brown and a slew of other travel experts to weigh in on planning the perfect route , finding good food and cheap gas, and keeping safety top of mind when hitting the open road. Below, see their best tips on how to plan a road trip so you're never lost, hungry, or bored.

Map your route

The route is the heart and soul of any good road trip. And while there’s a time and place for spontaneous diversions, it’s always smart to head into a long drive with a game plan. To customize a trip with multiple waypoints, use Google Maps’ My Maps feature to create your itinerary. This allows you to add up to 10,000 places of interest, as well as driving directions. (If you use Google Maps without signing in, you’ll be capped at the number of stops you can add.) Veronica E. Garnett, founder of the Black Adventuristas travel group, plots her trips via Google Maps, then uses Waze to get driving directions with live traffic updates and potential road hazards, and TollGuru to calculate fees and see if it’s possible to avoid them altogether. (Note to app minimalists: Google Maps offers similar features.)

Roadtrip in Big Sur California

California's Highway 1 is as scenic as they come.

If you’re setting out in a recreational vehicle rented from Cruise America , Road Bear , or a peer-to-peer rental site like RVshare , which can deliver rental RVs right to your destination, be mindful of narrow roadways and other potential obstructions. Jason and Rae Miller, founders of the Getaway Couple and Nomadic News , used to travel the country in a fifth wheel travel trailer measuring 42 feet long, eight feet wide, and 13.5 feet tall. “That is right at the legal maximum size for driving on the interstate,” say the Millers, which meant they couldn’t just fire up Google Maps and go on their merry way, since some overpasses were too close to call. Instead, they would plug their destination into the RV LIFE app for turn-by-turn directions that routed them safely around unforeseen obstacles like low-hanging bridges, narrow tunnels, and steep grades. While the Millers recently traded their fifth wheel for a smaller 12-foot-tall truck camper, they still consult the app, along with the travel-planning site RV LIFE Trip Wizard , when sketching out road trips. Cole Reinhardt, vice president of digital strategy at Kampgrounds of America, Inc. , is also a Trip Wizard fan, noting that the tool gives its users “RV-friendly travel routes and details on campgrounds and points of interest, including essential stops such as fuel stations.” For American drivers trying to plan a road trip outside of the United States, don’t forget to obtain an international driving permit from AAA, says Kim Bennett, founder of the crowd-sourced itinerary platform AtlasGuru . “Sometimes the rental companies ask for this, most often they don’t. But it’s easy to get so I usually do it as a precaution.” Bennett also recommends skimming the trip reports posted by members of the AtlasGuru community. One contributor who road tripped in Hungary recently reminded fellow users that you need to purchase a special pass for the highway; if you fail to do so, you could be fined.

Find good food, cheap gas, and other points of interest

Rule number one of planning a memorable road trip? Get off the interstate. “Research scenic byways for each state and get off the freeway as much as you can,” says Sam Highley, founder of All Roads North , a luxe US road trip planning service. The US Department of Transportation designates National Byways as roads with at least one notable archaeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational, or scenic feature; those with two or more of those qualities are classified as All-American Roads. This comprehensive mapping tool of byways allows users to search by state; each listing includes estimated mileage and driving time, plus notable attractions along the way.

The Millers trumpet GuideAlong, calling it their “new favorite app” for GPS-based narration of national parks. “My favorite feature is that it allows you to listen to your own music but lowers the sounds while [the host] provides tidbits of information or the next navigation step,” says Jason, who RV’d from Key West, Florida to Homer, Alaska last year. (Roaming around Denali National Park was a highlight.) Before setting out for any major US park, check recreation.gov to see if pre-booking is required, advises Darley Newman , the host, creator, and executive producer of Travels with Darley and Equitrekking on PBS. “Many of these parks now require advance reservations to limit the number of travelers and avoid overtourism,” she says.

13 Unwritten Rules to Know Before Traveling to Paris

For those with no choice but to take major interstates, Brown suggests the iExit app, which provides detailed information about upcoming exits including gas stations, restaurants, and hotels. “This allows you to plan ahead so that you don’t have to settle for fast food,” says Brown. “Instead you might find a local diner just 10 miles down the road.”

Image may contain: Pickup Truck, Transportation, Truck, Vehicle, Clothing, Glove, Adult, Person, Camping, and Outdoors

Leaving adequate time for hikes —particularly in state parks and local trails—is a good way to “leave 95% of the crowds behind,” as well, says Highley. Brown concurs, plugging the AllTrails app for its detailed hiking maps and terrain notes, safety precautions, trail photos, and user reviews. When it comes to identifying unique flora and fauna on said hikes, self-described “eager but uneducated naturalist” Highley turns to Merlin Bird ID for birdwatching, PictureThis for plant identification, and SkySafari for stargazing—or for catching celestial phenomena like the recent total solar eclipse .

Google Maps superuser Denise Barlock, an early retiree and Level 10 Local Guide , has reviewed more than 1,300 restaurants, grocery stores, and campsites across the country. “Expenses can add up quickly when you’re on the road,” she says. “So use Google Maps to search gas stations and prices for the best deal near you.” The GasBuddy app , which includes a trip-cost calculator, is another good resource for finding cheap fuel.

Barlock also uses Google Maps to search for local restaurants offering takeout and curbside pickup, plus interesting things to see and do. “You can use the search bar for specific things like ‘scenic spots,’ ‘waterfall,’ or ‘trailhead,’” she says, adding that the more detailed your search request is (like “oceanfront RV campground” or “kayak rental daily rate”), the better the results. The Explore tab surfaces events happening nearby, as well as curated lists of local recommendations, and the Save tab lets you favorite places you’ve already been and flag places you want to go in the future. Once you’ve plotted everything on your map, download it for offline usage before you take off; you’ll thank yourself later if your reception cuts out.

Prestige Lower Yellowstone Falls

Wyoming's Yellowstone is a popular family road trip destination.

Have special dietary considerations? Black Adventurista member Holly McGuinn of Queens, New York , uses the HappyCow app to sleuth out the best vegan and vegetarian restaurants on the road. With more than 220,000 listings in its global database, it also covers bakeries, health food stores, farmers markets, and juice bars. TVFoodMaps has drummed up thousands of as-seen-on-TV restaurants featured on popular shows such as Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Man v. Food, while Jane and Michael Stern’s Roadfood spotlights authentic regional cuisine at mom-and-pop restaurants. And nothing beats the 1,000-plus “wondrous” eats detailed on Gastro Obscura , a worldwide dossier for adventurous foodies.

If you’re looking for roadside photo ops, Gastro’s parent site, Atlas Obscura , is unmatched for finding offbeat things to see, from the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota to a psychedelic mirror maze in San Francisco . Outdated as the website is, Roadside America is also chock-a-block with quirky attractions—and surfable in app form too.

For a little history, follow the lead of Jasmin Hogan, a San Antonio-based member of the Black Adventuristas, who once drove an extra 600 miles to turn a road trip from Maryland to Texas into “an epic African-American history journey.” She and her sister hit up historic sites and museums dedicated to Black history and ate at Black-owned restaurants .

Florida , Louisiana , Alabama , New Hampshire , and other states have notable Black heritage trails. The National Park Service made a list of places featured in its short film, “ Twenty & Odd ,” exploring 400 years of African American history; highlights include Fort Monroe National Monument in Virginia and Georgia’s Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park . To find out which civil rights monuments fall along your route, consult this interactive mapping tool from the US Civil Rights Trail , a project that documents more than 100 important landmarks across 15 Southern states.

Put safety first

Not everyone has the privilege of traveling where they want, when they want. LGBTQ+ and BIPOC travelers, as well as individuals with accessibility concerns , may wish to take additional precautions.

Wheelchair Travel compiles accessible travel resources, including rentals for wheelchair vans and medical equipment, and publishes wheelchair-friendly city guides . The National Park Service also provides information about accessible experiences within each park ; navigate to the “Plan Your Visit” tab for additional info.

Sequoia National Park California

Drive through towering trees in Sequoia National Park.

Human Rights Campaign’s State Maps of Laws & Policies is designed to help LGBTQ+ travelers determine the potential risk of certain routes. Users can search the map by issue, surfacing states with laws that address hate or bias crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Refuge Restrooms , another app and online database searchable by location, helps transgender and gender-nonconforming people find safe bathrooms, even in rural areas.

Victor H. Green, a Black postal worker from Harlem, published a guides series called The Negro Travelers’ Green Book from 1936 to 1967; it was essential reading for Black motorists because it told them where they could safely eat, sleep, and gas up in Jim Crow’s America. Today, The Post-Racial Negro Green Book , compiled in 2018 by New Orleans-based writer Jan Miles, replaces the Black-friendly hotel and diner listings of yore with a state-by-state index of 21st-century racial bias against African Americans—documenting incidents of police brutality and harassment. Lastly, anyone hitting the road should also be mindful of the growing number of wildfires impacting US travel, says Highley, who relies on the Watch Duty app to monitor developing conditions.

Book accommodations in advance

There are tons of sites out there to help you find the perfect pit stop along your route. Look for hotels or Airbnbs with flexible cancellation policies; sites like Travelocity have filters for exactly this. Campendium is a solid app for finding RV and tent campsites, and Brown calls the HotelTonight app a “lifesaver” for last-minute hotel bookings. “When I need a hotel quickly, I don’t want to sift through hundreds of options,” she says. “I just want the top five in my price range.” If you just want a refresher stop, McGuinn recommends Dayuse , an app lets you rent a hotel room—and all its accompanying amenities, like the swimming pool and fitness center—by the hour or multi-hour block, with rates up to 75% off an overnight stay.

Or just let someone else take over the planning

If wrangling all of the above is too much of a time suck, you can always pay the professionals to do it for you. Luxury companies like Audley Travel offer self-drive itineraries for some of the most popular corners of the United States, from coastal California to New England. Heritage Inspirations in New Mexico introduced a series of Click-and-Buy Road Trips for half-day, full-day, and multi-day itineraries from Santa Fe, Taos, and Albuquerque. Each downloadable PDF includes detailed driving directions, plus insider intel and packing tips from company guides.

When Highley and his team are tailor-making a road trip for All Roads North, they try to understand a client’s primary motivation for traveling—a strategy useful for all road trippers. “It might be that they have a specific interest or region they want to explore, but equally want to connect with family, disconnect from work, or challenge themselves,” says Highley. “When you start the conversation in terms of experiences and emotions, rather than simply places to see and things to do, we are able to plan a much more rewarding trip.” He’s also a big proponent of the less-is-more ethos: Spend more time in fewer places and really dig deep. By connecting travelers with wildlife biologists, Navajo musicians, astrologers, art collectors, rising chefs, and other local experts, they’re able to build an enriching itinerary that would be hard to orchestrate on one’s own.

Most importantly, adds Newman, just “roll with it.” Every road trip will have its hiccups. “Don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path,” she says. “Some of the best travel experiences can be unplanned.”

5 interesting day excursions from Moscow

Sergeyev Posad.

Sergeyev Posad.

To get a glimpse of Russia’s vastness and diversity, you don’t have to travel all the way to Siberia. A few places are easily accessible for day trips from Moscow

Sergeyev Posad

Located 70 km (43 miles) northeast of Moscow, the town of Sergeyev Posad is home to the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, the most important Russian Orthodox monastery in the country.

Few places in the country demonstrate the architectural journey that Russian churches undertook from the 14 th century to the present day. St. Sergius of Radonezh, a venerated Russian saint, founded the monastery in 1345. Numerous structures were built in the compound in the subsequent centuries.

Trains leave every 30 minutes for Sergeyev Posad from Moscow’s Yaroslavskiy Railway Station. You can also take Bus Number 388 from the VDNKh metro station.

A pilgrimage spot for fans of Anton Chekhov , Melikhovo, 74 km (46 miles) from Moscow, is the former estate of the great playwright.

Chekhov moved to the estate in 1892 from Moscow and lived there till 1899. This is where he wrote classics such as The Seagull and his famous trilogy: The Man in a Case, About Love, and Gooseberries.

“My estate’s not much, but the surroundings are magnificent,” Chekhov wrote about Melikhovo.  The estate has been converted into a museum where the main house has preserved the 19 th century ambience. You can visit Chekhov’s study as well as the cottage where he wrote The Seagull.

Each May the estate hosts a weeklong theatre festival.

Suburban trains (elechtrichkas) run regularly from Moscow’s Kursky Railway Station to the town of Chekhov. From Chekhov take bus number 25 to the estate.

Nobody would ever visit the otherwise nondescript town of Monino, 33 km (20.5 miles) east of Moscow, if it didn’t have one of the world’s greatest open-air aviation museums.

The Central Air Force Museum, which is in Monino’s airfield, has 173 Russian aircraft and over 100 aircraft engines. The facility was an airbase from 1932 to 1956, when it was converted into a museum.

Along with aircraft from the Second World War, the Mi-12 Homer double rotor helicopter and the Bartini Beriev VVA-14 amphibious aircraft, the museum also has exhibits related to military aviation history such as the uniform of captured U2 pilot Gary Powers.

There’s no better way to learn about the history of Russian military aviation than taking a guided tour conducted by ex-pilots. Media reports indicate that the museum will be closed to the public from July 2016, so make a dash for it, if you’re a military aviation enthusiast.

Suburban trains (elechtrichkas) leave regularly for Monino from the Yaroslavskiy Railway Station.  The airfield is surrounded by defense installations and is not a walking distance from the station. Take a taxi from the station to avoid bus routes that pass through military areas.

You can also take bus number 322 to Monino from the Partizanskaya Metro Station.

The historic city, which is at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosi rivers, is about 250 km (155 miles) northeast of Moscow. A part of the Golden Ring , the historic city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city center, which is compact and can easily be explored by foot, has around 140 protected monuments. The riverfront houses several old and famous monasteries.

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, which is believed to have been founded in the 12 th century, is one of the city’s most well preserved religious complexes. Visitors are allowed to enter the 32-meter high bell tower, which was built in the mid-16 th century. The views are absolutely stunning from the top.

There are several nice cafes with views of the river in the city center.

Long-distance trains depart regularly for Yaroslavl from the Yaroslavskiy Railway Station.  It is a four-hour journey on most trains, although there is one fast service.

For a daytrip, you should ideally take a train from the capital at 7:35 am (reaches Yaroslavl at 10:51) and take one back at 7:32 pm (reaches Moscow at 10:53 pm).

If a find a journey to Yaroslavl too tiring for a day trip, a good alternative is the Tver , which is 162 km (100 miles) north of Moscow.

The city, which is at the confluence of the Tvertsa and Volga rivers, was founded in 1135.  Most of the ancient buildings were destroyed by a fire in 1763, after which it was redesigned for Empress Catherine the Great as a “road palace” to rest on the journey between Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The riverfront has a nice collection of 18 th and 19 th century building and churches. The city center is also compact and can easily be explored by foot.

One of the most popular gathering places in the city is the square housing the statue to Afanasy Nikitin, one of Tver’s greatest sons.  Nikitin, a 15 th century merchant was one of the first Europeans to travel to and document his visit to India.

Another popular hangout is the embankment from where you can see the Starovolzhsky Bridge.

Trains regularly depart for Tver from the Leningradskiy Station. The faster trains take a little over an hour to get to Tver.

From the Tetons to the Caribbean, 6 Getaways for Grown-Ups

We found new and revamped adults-only hotels and resorts for those who want to get away from it all.

Beneath a blue sky, a range of rugged mountains, some draped in mist, dominates the horizon. The corner of the upper floor of a modern, wood building with a balcony is visible on the right.

By Stephanie Rosenbloom

If a hotel full of children is not your idea of a vacation, why not try a getaway just for grown-ups? From posh city hotels to tropical resorts, these new and recently expanded adults-only escapes beckon solo travelers, couples and friends with nature hikes, classes like pottery and macramé, spa treatments, tequila tastings and perhaps the greatest luxury of all: peace and quiet.

Sedona, Ariz.

After being closed for two years, this longstanding escape amid the red rocks of Sedona has reopened following a $40 million renovation and expansion. Part of the Relais & Châteaux hotel network, the hotel’s new additions include the Hummingbird at Mii amo restaurant, where you can enjoy seasonal local produce. There’s also a 3,300-square-foot movement and fitness studio; a reflexology path designed to massage and engage acupressure points on your feet; an expanded spa, where you can get a massage with CBD oil and try reiki or hypnosis; and a yoga lawn.

Choose from 16 renovated casitas and seven new casita rooms and suites. All of the property’s 23 rooms have fireplaces, outdoor spaces and heated bathroom floors. The new suites have soaking tubs from which you can take in the views.

Visits to the resort, which in the past have been offered for three-, four-, or seven-night packages, can now be booked for up to 10 nights. Included are accommodations, food and drinks, treatments and activities such as hikes and fitness classes. Prices from $4,100 per person for a three-day package.

(Note: At Mii amo, as with some other adults-only properties, the definition of adults includes older teenage guests. Check with your hotel for details.)

Charleston, S.C.

86 Cannon Charleston

You’ll be welcomed with Champagne when you arrive at this 10-room-and-suite hotel in the city’s Cannonborough Elliotborough area, north of the French Quarter. The hotel, spread across four buildings from the 19th to early 20th centuries, recently expanded, adding a fifth building as well as gathering places and accommodations.

The new building, a two-story pink pool bungalow, has a suite on the top floor with vaulted ceilings and French doors that lead to a wrought iron balcony overlooking the hotel’s saltwater pool. Or consider another new accommodation option: the Charleston king, which has 10-foot ceilings, a porch and a fireplace. There are several communal spots where you can crack open a book and hang out, including a library, a cafe, a courtyard garden and piazzas. Look forward to wine and cheese pairings in the afternoons, and chocolates in the evenings. Reservations also include European continental breakfast and free bicycles. Prices from $379 a night for a loft king; from $579 a night for the new bungalow suite.

Cancún, Mexico

Hyatt Vivid Grand Island

Set between Nichupté Lagoon and the Caribbean, this 400-suite, all-inclusive resort is the first Hyatt Vivid property, an adults-only brand meant to appeal to a new generation of travelers seeking a casual vibe. The resort has a contemporary atmosphere where you can take a Spanish class, make pottery, try meditation, enjoy live music and attend mezcal tastings. Three pools include a 295-square-foot rooftop infinity pool. The nearby Ennea Beach Club has yet another pool, as well as a snack bar and restaurant, and access to Playa Delfines, the white sand beach with the “Cancún” sign that’s a popular photo spot. Plenty of places will sate your appetite, including restaurants with cuisines as varied as Mexican, Italian, French and Japanese, along with half a dozen bars.

Even the smallest suites are roomy at about 570 square feet, and all have balconies with water views. Stay in a Vantage Club suite for additional amenities like soaking tubs and espresso machines, and to use the Vantage Club lounge where continental breakfast is served, as well as hors d’oeuvres in the afternoon, desserts and spirits. A grand opening rate of $350 a night, per person, is available for the remainder of 2024.

Also worth nothing: Hyatt just introduced Casa Zamna in Tulum, a 21-room-and-suite, all-inclusive luxury addition to its Zamna Beach Club, about 15 minutes from its adults-only Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club , where you can also use the spa and restaurants. Prices from $605 a night, per person.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos

This new all-inclusive boutique beachfront hotel with views of the Sea of Cortez offers 79 contemporary suites in soothing tones, each more than 900 square feet. Inside you’ll find Mexican art and a living area with a sofa, along with a terrace that has a hot tub or plunge pool. Some suites have fire pits. All rooms have welcome bottles of wine and mezcal. Go for a swim in the infinity pool, then head to the spa for treatments like “ocean sounds,” a massage that incorporates vibrating bowls.

A seaside breakfast can be had at the hotel’s Del Mar restaurant. Later, visit LOTO Robata Grill for Japanese cuisine, including grilled seafood. For cocktails, ceviche and views of the sea or stars, depending on the time of day, there’s Roca Snack & Bar , which takes its name from the area’s rock formations. If tequila and mezcal are your beverages of choice, check out the Agave Tasting Room . For craft cocktails , stop at 51 Bar where, in the mornings, you can grab coffee, breads and pastries. Prices are from $626 a night, per person, in double occupancy, and include meals, beverages (alcohol, too), nightly entertainment, 24-hour in-suite service, taxes and gratuity. At the nearby sister property, Grand Velas Los Cabos , guests may use the amenities at no additional charge, including its pools and dining options, such as Cocina de Autor , which was awarded a Michelin star .

Jackson, Wyo.

Hotel Yellowstone

This 36-suite luxury boutique hotel, with breathtaking views of the Teton Range, opened its doors last month, describing itself as the first adults-only hotel in Jackson Hole. Inside you’ll find tranquil suites that are modern and spacious, with balconies, fireplaces, furniture from Restoration Hardware , and bathrooms with soaking tubs (many with views of the Tetons).

You won’t be far from the boutiques and restaurants of Jackson’s Town Square , and you’ll be about 20 minutes from Grand Teton National Park . Whether returning from a rigorous day of hiking or shopping, you can relax at the hotel’s spa with a massage or facial, or indulge in a package like the Cedar Series for men, which includes a “bourbon and coffee sugar scrub” and a “sage deep tissue massage.” In the Himalayan salt room, relieve your stress and congestion by breathing air infused with micronized salt particles, or go for a swim in the heated indoor pool. Hit Jackson Hole for dinner and drinks, or pull up a chair at the hotel’s Olivia’s Restaurant and Bar for flatbreads, burgers, seafood and cocktails against a backdrop of soaring mountains. Prices from $1,499 a night, which includes daily breakfast at Olivia’s (in-room breakfast is an additional cost).

Hatteras Island, N. C.

Edgecamp Pamlico Station

This 14-suite boutique hotel just opened in the Outer Banks with whimsical 700-square-foot rooms designed by Jonathan Adler . Each has water views, a wood-burning fireplace, living room, kitchen, record player and wellness-themed amenities like yoga mats, resistance bands and, for those with tight muscles, a Therabody massage gun . Beyond your suite, a wellness center with a sauna and hot tub awaits. In-room treatments from local therapists can also be arranged, as can private exercise classes and yoga on your deck or on the beach.

The area’s outdoor pleasures include surfing and kite-surfing. If you prefer to stay on dry land, go for a ride in a dune buggy or bicycle. Additionally, Delta Vacations offers a wide selection of accommodations across the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Milan, and Venice , from top international hotel chains to boutique properties. Whether savoring a cappuccino in a Sicilian piazza or exploring the stunning vistas of Mount Etna, Catania promises an unforgettable experience.

Now, starting in May 2025, Delta customers can experience it firsthand with the launch of new daily service from New York-JFK to Catania. As the first U.S. airline to offer direct flights to Catania, Delta is opening this long-unserved market, providing travelers unparalleled access to Sicily’s rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes.

Naples

Beginning in May 2025, Delta will launch four-times-weekly service from Atlanta to Naples, connecting travelers to the world-famous Amalfi Coast and the ancient city of Pompeii. This route will complement Delta’s existing New York-JFK to Naples service, launched in summer 2024, adding more opportunities for customers to explore southern Italy’s picturesque charm.

Delta is adding four weekly flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Rome starting in May 2025, linking its second-largest hub to one of the most sought-after European destinations. With MSP joining Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and New York-JFK, Delta will offer direct service to Rome from five U.S. hubs, further enhancing access to the Eternal City.

For travelers drawn to Milan’s elegance, Delta will launch four weekly flights from Boston to Milan in May 2025, filling a crucial gap as Boston’s largest unserved European market. This route complements Delta’s existing Milan service from New York-JFK and Atlanta.

Brussels

Delta is introducing new three-times-weekly nonstop service from Atlanta to Brussels, providing a convenient connection between the U.S. and Belgium’s vibrant capital. Known for its rich history, world-class museums, and role as the center of the European Union, Brussels is now even more accessible. This route complements Delta’s existing service from New York-JFK, further enhancing access to this important European city.

More routes from Atlanta and Detroit

Delta continues to expand its trans-Atlantic offerings from Atlanta, adding more options for travelers to explore Europe. With four additional weekly flights to Athens , bringing the total to 11, Delta strengthens its position as the leading U.S. airline to Greece. Travelers can also enjoy three extra weekly flights to both Barcelona and Rome, for a total of 10 and 17 respectively, or opt for daily service to Zurich for the ultimate Swiss escape.

In Detroit, Delta is increasing its service to Munich to daily flights, making it easier for travelers to explore the heart of Bavaria.

An increased number of trans-Atlantic flights will be operated by Delta’s state-of-the-art A330-900 and A350-900 aircraft, featuring Delta One suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin options.
