Infectious Diseases

Our Infectious Diseases team treats the entire spectrum of infections in adults, including MRSA infections, meningitis, encephalitis, head and neck infections, osteomyelitis and other bone and joint infections, pneumonia, tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, gastroenteritis, herpes, tick-borne illnesses, tropical diseases such as malaria, and others.  The team also routinely manages patients who require outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy.

All of our physicians are board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Our team collaborates with primary care and other specialty physicians to ensure that patients receive the highest level of care.

The team also partners with the Public Health Department, CDC, local hospitals, and news/media outlets in regards to community support, providing educational expertise and control and prevention tactics.

Prescription Refills

Please call 336-716-4395 for prescription refills. Requests are taken during office hours Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, or by fax from the pharmacist at 336-716-3825 .

Please contact your pharmacist to verify that your prescription has been called into the pharmacy and is ready for you to pick up. Please note the following restrictions regarding prescription refills:

• We do not refill prescriptions prescribed by other physicians
• We cannot refill pain medications after office hours or during the weekend
• If you haven’t been seen by our physician within the last 6 months, you must schedule a follow-up visit prior to prescription refill. We want to make sure that the medication is properly dosed and that your health hasn’t changed.

Am i required to have certain immunizations for international travel.

Some countries require specific immunizations prior to entry.

Are routine vaccinations such as Tetanus and Hepatitis available at the Travel Clinic?

Yes. These are recommended for many travel itineraries

Are immunizations required for cruises?

Some countries will have yellow fever and malaria risks while in port. You may need immunization.

Can children and pregnant women receive immunizations?

Rules that pertain to adults are also applicable to children, with adjustments based on age and weight. Precautions are necessary for pregnant women. These special needs will be discussed during your clinic visit.

Will my insurance pay for this service?

Travel clinic services and immunizations are not covered by most insurance plans. Payment is required at the time of your visit. You may wish to submit a claim to your insurance with your receipt. Travel health insurance is available through your travel agency.
