1. Trocadéro is the best Eiffel Tower photo spot.

The Esplanade de Trocadéro is the place that offers the most spectacular view over Eiffel Tower. While some renovation works are still in place, most of the photo spots are now available . The aim of the works is to build the largest garden in Paris, with a 1.6km long green space around the Eiffel Tower to allow pedestrians and cyclists to move around freely. Explore the list of works for the Tower on The Local .

What spots around Trocadéro are not available anymore?

There is one spot that is permanently not available for pictures: the wall . Meaning that it’s not possible to take photos sitting on the wall anymore. The reason for this is that the top of the wall was modified to make sitting impossible. See the photos below.

This means that such pictures are not possible anymore. See below.

This pedestrian bridge is in walking distance from the Eiffel Tower and the well known exquisite restaurant Monsieur Bleu . If all the other spots that we mentioned earlier are within walking distance from the Tower, to get to the Alexander 3 bridge we recommend to take public transportation or taxi/uber. Café Photos

If you are on a Paris photo session itinerary, after so many pictures with the Eiffel Tower and walking, you’d appreciate a strategic stop in a Parisian café. We recommend Casé Castel that is very close to the Tower and has great cappuccino. If you have booked a multi-hours photo shoot, then you can change outfits here for your next location. If not, then it would be fun to finish your photo session with a few piece-of-life pictures. Enjoying a delicious croissant and cappuccino.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots

There is nothing more iconic than the Paris Eiffel Tower. I just love how the Eiffel Tower can pop up between streets, offering the prettiest views when walking around Paris. I rounded up the top-secret places where to get the best Eiffel Tower Photo. These are the top Eiffel Tower photo spots that you’ll want from your trip.

You can catch these photos and more on my Instagram here !

Where is the Eiffel Tower?

Before I get into the secret locations, I wanted to lay out the land where the Eiffel tower is. The Eiffel Tower is located in the 7th arrondissement in Paris in the southwestern part of the city. While Champ de Mars, the surrounding park area, on a map might look small, in reality, the park grounds are huge.

This is something to keep in mind when walking around because you will be in for a bit of a walk! However, you can see all of these locations in just one day if you take some breaks, and stop for some delicious French pastries.

I have included a map of the Paris photo locations at the bottom of this post for easy reference.

Book Eiffel Tower Activities:

1. Rue St. Dominique

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower

Rue St. Dominique is a residential street in the 7th arrondissement that offers the most incredible view of the Eiffel tower. The best viewing spot is on Rue St. Dominique and Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg, however, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower throughout the whole street.

This area is known for its shopping boutiques, cozy restaurants, and cafes, and is a nice local area to stay in while in Paris.

Where to Stay in Paris:

Le Narcisse Blanc: An elegant Parisian hotel located on Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg. In under a minute you can walk to this iconic corner to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. Check out my full review of Le Narcisse Blanc here.

2. Rue de l’ Université

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower

Probably my favorite location to see the Eiffel Tower is Rue de’l Université . This quaint street is ideal because it has such a Parisian charm with the cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. And because this is very close to Champ de Mars, the surrounding park where the Eiffel Tower is located, the tower will appear grand in your photos.

To find this exact location, you’ll come across a dead-end on Rue de Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais. Enter at this point, and you will find the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.

Tip: Cars do park on this street, so there might be some in your photo! When we arrived there were no cars, but seconds after a car pulled up and parked. We were lucky but a little too late.

3. Square Rapp

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower

Square Rapp is a tiny dead-end right off Avenue Rapp that offers a secret view of the Eiffel Tower. Because it is lesser-known, you won’t find many people taking photos here. It is located in a residential part of Paris, so just be respectful to the surrounding area.

Bonus: If you walk further down this dead-end street, you’ll find a quaint little garden. It is private property, but charming to look at.

4. Avenue de Camoens

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

You have probably seen photos of this location before, but Avenue de Camoens is a quiet street just a short walk from Trocadero. What makes this location extra special is it’s located on a dead-end street with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

It’s a popular location amongst other people trying to take photos. Even when I was there, a couple of people were taking photos. But you really can’t beat these views!

To avoid any crowds, just head here in the morning.

How to get to Avenue de Camoens : Because it’s located at a higher level than the street below, be on the lookout for a staircase on Boulevard Delessert.

5. Trocadero

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

This is the least secret place on the list, but it is the ultimate place to get the best photos of the Eiffel Tower. In fact, I would recommend coming here at different times of the day (if you can) to have different types of lighting in your photos.

A gorgeous time to take photos would be during sunrise, as the sun comes up from the perfect angle. And bonus: sunrise is the least crowded time of the day so you won’t have as many people in your shot.

What I love about this location are the many different angles you can take photos from. Some popular angles include:

  • The Main Square
  • The Staircase
  • The Carousel located near the street level on Avenue des Nations Unies

Just a note: this location is extremely popular with tourists and locals alike so it’s an easy target for pickpockets. Just be aware of all your belongings, and wear your backpack or bag in front of your body in this location.

6. Pont d’Iéna

Eiffel Tower at Night

Head down from Trocadero to Pont d’léna, which is a bridge that connects you closer to the Eiffel Tower.  You can get a better view of the Eiffel tower from right underneath it. To make the photo even more dramatic, head to this location around sunset. You’ll be able to see the Eiffel tower sparkle!

7. Seine River

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

Overlooking the Seine just near Trocadero, you’ll find unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower. Check the map below to see the exact street I found at this location. The best part, anywhere along the Seine near Trocadero you can find this view, so you don’t have to come to this exact location.

I particularly love this angle because it’s such a relaxing part of Paris overlooking the water.

Book 1-hour Seine River Cruise

8. Bir Hakeim Bridge

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

I also have included the Bir Hakeim Bridge in my Top Paris Instagram Posts , but this bridge is a perfect place to capture the views. This bridge crosses over the Seine river and connects the 15th and 16th arrondissements.

Bir Hakeim, formerly known as Pont de Passy, opened in 1905 and still has beautiful timeless architecture. I love how the bridge posts frame the Eiffel Tower in the background! A must-do in Paris for a photo.

Note: This is an active bridge with cars, bikes,   and pedestrians so just look both ways when you are taking photos.

9. Montparnasse Tower

Montparnasse Tower

To get the most epic views of the Eiffel Tower and the entire city of Paris, head to the Montparnasse Tower. This observation deck 200 meters above Paris needs to be on your list of things to do in Paris.

It is open 7 days a week from 10 am until 10:30 pm with tickets starting at 18 Euro per adult. It is best to get your tickets in advance to avoid any crowds!

#2 Arc de Triomphe

One of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower is from the top of Arc de Triomphe. From here, you can see the 12 avenues departing in all directions from the Arc and, in the distance, the Eiffel Tower. From this vantage point, the Eiffel Tower stands out among the townhouses and tree-lined streets below. This view is particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

At the time of writing, the admission fee to climb Arc de Triomphe is €12 for adults and free for children (under 18 years old). Do note the Arc de Triomphe has 284 stairs to climb, though there is an elevator for those unable to climb the stairs.

#3 Rue de l’Université

Visiting the Eiffel Tower is always a France bucket list item. For one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots, opt for Rue de l’Université.

While this is far less crowded than the usual spots like Jardin de la Tour Eiffel or Jardins du Trocadéro, it is becoming increasingly popular thanks to many Instagram photos. So, the best way to see this outstanding viewpoint or get photos of your own would be to get here early.

Thanks Kat , for the suggestion

#4 Centre Pompidou

Thanks Kenny, for this gorgeous Eiffel Tower picture Idea!

Centre Pompidou is a world-class contemporary art museum, one of the many impressive buildings in Europe that redefine architecture . Not many visitors would know, though it is also a great spot to view the Eiffel Tower, as the building is slightly higher than its surroundings. Besides, the architecture of this museum features an outdoor escalator surrounded by glass, offering an unobstructed panoramic view.

On the 5th floor of the center, the balcony has the best view of the Eiffel Tower standing between beautiful houses, together with art pieces from great artists from Miro, Richier, and Ernst.

Paris, one of the most beautiful cities in France , offers unexpected delights at every turn. Whether it’s a hidden café or a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower on a quiet street , it reminds you of why this city is so unique.

This picturesque bridge is not only one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris , but it also offers the perfect angle to capture Paris’ most famous landmark in all its glory. From here, you can also see the Seine River and the beautiful Haussmannian architecture of the city’s Left Bank.

Paris with the beautiful Pont Alexandre III and the Eiffel Tower in the Background

Although you can visit the bridge any time of the day, it’s particularly beautiful at sunset. If you have a telephoto lens, make sure to bring it with you!

Pont Alexandre III is between the 7th and 8th arrondissement of Paris and can easily be reached on foot from the Eiffel Tower or from the Champs-Élysées. The closest metro stations are Invalides and Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau.

#7 Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim must be one of Paris’ most underrated sights . It has a beautiful design, and it is one of the best photo spots of the Eiffel Tower, combining both the unique design elements of the bridge with Paris’ most famous icon.

The Pont de Bir Hakeim is one of the most beautiful bridges in Paris, constructed between 1903 and 1905 and made of steel. It is often used for infinity shots and for sunrise shoots with the Eiffel Tower.

Best spots to take picture of the Eiffel Tower

The steel design of the bridge works very well with the Eiffel Tower in one shot. This photo spot is especially worth visiting in the early morning during sunrise. Seeing the sun rising behind the Eiffel Tower, creates the best photo opportunities you could wish for.

#8 Galeries Lafayette Rooftop

One of the best spots in Paris for photos of the Eiffel Tower is the rooftop terrace at Galeries Lafayette . The terrace is located atop the iconic Parisian department store and offers breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower and other famous landmarks in Paris.

To get there, head to Galeries Lafayette in the 9th arrondissement and take the elevator to the 6th floor; from there, you’ll join a queue to get to the 8th floor terrace.

Top Eiffel Tower picture spot - the rooftop of the Galeries Lafayette

The terrace is open daily until 8 pm. For the best views, visit during sunset or in the evening when the tower is sparkling. During the summer, you can visit the terrace’s pop-up restaurants to enjoy dinner with a dazzling view.

#9 Trocadero

If you’re looking for the best photo spots of the most iconic monument  France is famous for  – the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero should be definitely on your list.

Trocadero is an open space tucked between the two wings of Palais de Chaillot. Because the area is elevated, Trocadero boasts an outstanding view of the gardens and an impressive fountain below, and the Iron Lady in the distance. The best photo spot is on the stairs down to the gardens. Come here at sunrise for the stunning, golden light.

Best place to photograph the Eiffel Tower: Trocadero

To get here, get off at Trocadero Metro Stop via line 6 or 9, and you’ll find the spot on your right.

#10 Rue Azaïs in Montmartre

When planning a Paris itinerary, a little-known benefit of visiting during winter is the ability to see the Eiffel Tower from as far away as Montmartre !

Tucked away from the Sacre Coeur and at rooftop level, Rue Saint-Éleuthère . The street gradually inclines, with the best spot to see the Eiffel Tower from its peak. From here, however, one of the neighbors has a sizeable television aerial mounted to their roof, which may be difficult to eliminate out of the shot.

eiffel tour paris photos

But if you wander up around the corner to Rue Azaïs , you’ll be rewarded. With a car park and trees spanning its length, the higher elevation and position between winter’s bare trees allow for a unique perspective of the Eiffel Tower! Not surprising that this view inspired many artists and you find some of their best Paris quotes here.

#11 L’Oiseau Blanc

Put on your most fabulous outfit and dine at L’Oiseau Blanc, a fine-dining restaurant with a stellar view of the Eiffel Tower from your table. The romantic French restaurant is located on the rooftop of the luxurious Peninsula Hotel and is the perfect way to celebrate an anniversary or honeymoon with your loved one.

The Oiseau Blanc!

Make your reservation before sunset, so you can watch the Eiffel Tower change as it goes from day to night. After nightfall, you will get to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle. This happens for five minutes at the top of every hour. It’s one of the most glamorous things to add to your Paris itinerary .

Voilà, the best spots to snap stunning pictures of the Eiffel Tower! Make sure you put them on your list for your next trip.

The Best Time to Visit Paris to Take Pictures of Eiffel Tower

When it comes to taking the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower, the season in which you visit Paris is important. There’s a big difference between summer and winter when it comes to things like tree foliage, light, weather and the best times of day to take Eiffel Tower photos.

In general, however, the best time to visit Paris is in the spring and summer months of May, June, July and August. These are the hottest months where temperatures can reach about 30°C/85°F or even more but generally, you’re most likely to see an average temperature of about 20°C/68°F or 22°C/71°F.

In summer you’re more likely to see much fewer rainy and cloudy days too giving you more time to take photos.

Another pro of visiting Paris in the summer is the long daylight hours and with sunlight from about 5 am until 10 pm in the summertime, it gives you plenty more time to explore, especially if you only have a few days in Paris.

Summer however is the most crowded time so you will be sharing all the Eiffel Tower photo spots with far more people. For this reason, always try to start your day as early as possible.

The months of May and September, the shoulder season, are also great times to visit.

In winter, Paris, like many other northern European cities can be quite cold, rainy and grey. Daylight hours are also much shorter so if you’re planning to visit in winter I highly recommend extending your itinerary to 3 or 4 days in Paris or even a week to have enough time for your Eiffel Tower photos.

Also, winter is going to have an effect on your photos of the Eiffel Tower. The light in the winter is different, it can be weaker and more diffused, which can actually be a good thing. However, the chances of having a sunny day are much lower than in summer.

Another thing to note is that there will be no foliage on the trees in winter. Many of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots are surrounded by parks and trees and green areas but you’ll need to consider that in winter these will look much less green than in summer.

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots in Paris

There are many amazing photo locations to take photos of the Eiffel Tower, luckily most of them are immediately around the landmark itself or in the streets close by. Most of these Eiffel tower photo spots will allow you to get some nice close-up shots of the Eiffel tower as well as get some portrait shots with an Eiffel Tower background.

These spots are also great for those looking for gorgeous Parisian street photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Here are the best Eiffel Tower photo spots in Paris that I managed to find during hours of searching the area on my recent trip to Paris.

Jardins du Trocadero

Probably the most classic view of the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadero is a vast space immediately over the river via the Iena Bridge from the Eiffel Tower.

The most popular Eiffel Tower photo location here over the years has been the Palais de Chaillot, which provided sweeping views of the Eiffel Tower. However, in recent years this area has been bordered up most probably to stop so many people from coming and taking photos on the famous stairs.

Due to this, it’s no longer the amazing photo spot that it was so you’ll have to get creative.

It’s still possible to find a good photo spot on the stairs going down to the Trocadero but you’ll need to arrive here very early as it’s always full of people taking photos. Alternatively, there are many unique photo opportunities in the actual gardens where you can find your own angle that hasn’t yet been featured all over Instagram.

During the summer especially, this is a lovely, nature-filled spot to get some beautiful Eiffel Tower photos.

When to Visit: This is a very popular Eiffel Tower photo spot so sunrise is the best time to visit Trocadero and the Jardins du Trocadero. Also, the golden sunrise light here does wonders for photos.

eiffel tour paris photos

Avenue de Camoens

Avenue de Camoens is one of the most popular photo locations of the Tour Eiffel but it also is one of the most beautiful. The dead-end street is a quiet street flanked by mid-century Parisian buildings and at its end, a classic, stone balustrade and staircase heading down to the street below.

From here you can take great Eiffel Tower street view photos as well as portraits with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The spot has some great potential for taking some beautiful Eiffel Tower pictures.

When to Visit: As this spot is really popular you’ll need to be here right after sunrise and you’ll most likely have to share it with some other photographers/influencers. Note that after sunrise the street doesn’t have much light in it, so it’s also well worth trying to take photos here later in the day too.

eiffel tour paris photos

Pont d’Iéna

For a classic photo location, almost right under the Tour Eiffel, Pont d’Iéna is a great photo spot. This is the bridge that takes you to the Eiffel Tower from the Jardins de Trocadero. You can head out into the middle of the road (please be careful of the cars), or take photos of the Eiffel Tower from the sides of the bridge. There are many different angles to experiment with here.

Also if you want to take photos of the Eiffel Tower at night, with its flashing lights, this is a great spot, just make sure to bring your tripod to avoid those blurry photos.

When to Visit: Early in the morning after sunrise to avoid too much traffic and crowds. For nighttime photos of the flashing Eiffel Tower come here after dark, on the hour, when the Eiffel Tower flashes.

eiffel tour paris photos

Carrousel de la Tour Eiffel

Right by the Eiffel Tower, at the foot of Pont d’Iena is the Eiffel Tower Carrousel.

It’s a lovely photo location for those wanting to get creative and potentially add some movement to their images of the Eiffel Tower.

You can include the top of the carousel in your Eiffel tower photos to add some colour and texture or you can also ride the carousel and have someone take photos of you with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

When to Visit: If you want to get good photos of the carousel you’ll need to come later in the day as if you’re coming into the area to take photos early in the morning, the carousel is still closed.

It generally opens in the afternoons and stays open into the evenings. It could also be closed during the winter. If you know more about its opening times then please let me know in the comments below.

Pont de Bir Hakeim

For one of the best bridge views in Paris, Bir Hakeim Bridge is where to head.

Pont de Bir Hakeim is located to the west of Pont d’Iena. The bridge itself is rather different from most of the others in Paris, architecturally and structurally. With its modern, industrial look, it’s a great spot for photos. It’s also a two-tier bridge, the upper tier is used for metro trains and the lower tier for pedestrians, cars and bicycles.

The best spot to start is on the north side of the bridge from which you can get some amazing views of the Eiffel Tower and the river Seine.

Even though it’s without the Eiffel Tower view, there’s also a great photo spot in the middle of the bridge, running lengthways on the cycle lane. Even if you find some other people also taking photos here, the bridge is big enough for everyone.

When to Visit: This is actually one spot that it’s too crowded. It’s best visited earlier in the morning but if you don’t manage it, no sweat, it will probably work well in the afternoon too, in the evening or at sunset too.

eiffel tour paris photos

Champ de Mars

Much like the Jardins du Trocadero, Champ de Mars is a large, leafy green park located to the south of the Eiffel Tower on the left bank. It has many patches of grass, perfect for a picnic in the summer or spring as well as tree-lined alleyways.

Everywhere you look in this park, there are some great Eiffel tower photo opportunities, from setting up a picnic with a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower to walking down one of the many paths towards the historical landmark. It’s the perfect spot to get creative with photos.

Note that due to the weather and the nature of the seasons, this spot can be quite grey and muddy in the winter. During the summer, however, it’s a very scenic spot.

When to Visit: Champ de Mars is a really large open space so you can easily find a great spot to take photos from at any time of day. A clear-blue sky day is best.

Rue de L’Université

Rue de l’Université is one of the most scenic streets in Paris when it comes to Eiffel tower views. It’s also one of the most ‘Instagrammable’.

Rue de l’Univeristé is actually quite a long street but the part that you want for the best photos of the Eiffel Tower is right at the intersection with Av de la Bourdonnais. This is a dead-end street with the most beautiful grand Parisian buildings on each side of the street and of course, the stunning Eiffel Tower at the end.

On this street, there are so many different photo shoot opportunities from portraits with an Eiffel tower background to more simple street photography.

Note that this is quite a popular place to take photos so you’ll probably have to share the street with some other people too. Make sure not to come too early because there won’t be enough light hitting the streets- the buildings on either side are quite tall.

Finally, as this is a street, you might get cars parked on either side of the street. Luckily when I visited the street was closed off to cars. Perhaps this is a permanent thing!?

When to Visit: For light, this location is best in the middle of the day when both sides of the street are receiving sunlight. To avoid crowds it’s best early in the morning. For this location, you might need to ask yourself whether light or having fewer people in photos is your priority.

eiffel tour paris photos

Along Avenue Rapp, you’ll find many intersections with gorgeous Parisian street views and the Eiffel Tower. I highly recommend walking down the whole of Av. Rapp (it’s not too long) and see which photo spots you like best along the way.

My personal favourite was Av Rapp with Rue de Monttessuy but there are many other lovely photo spots around too.

Another popular spot is Square Rapp, just of Av. Rapp that’s a popular spot for taking pretty Eiffel Tower pictures.

When to Visit: As this is a working Parisian street it does get busy during the day. I’d say avoid this location during rush hour. Try to visit at some point in the morning or early afternoon for the best light.

eiffel tour paris photos

Rue de Buenos Aires

Very similar to the view you’ll get on Rue de L’Universite, this street is just on the other side of the park so the view is simply reversed. It is, however, a lot less busy than Rue de l’Universite so if you find that one full of people or parked cars make sure to head over here.

Rue de Buenos Aires is a beautiful little dead-end road with lovely classical buildings on either side. At the end of the street, you’ll find the iconic Eiffel Tower. It’s a fantastic little spot to take cute pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

When to Visit: As Rue de Buenos Aires has almost the same views as Rue de l’Universite you’ll need to ask yourself whether you want to prioritise having better light or no people in your photos. For better light visit in the late morning, for crowd control visit in the early morning.

eiffel tour paris photos

Port Debilly (by Pont d’Iéna)

On the right bank side immediately over Pont D’Iéna and down by the river you’ll find Port Debilly, a quiet street running parallel to the river Seine. Along here there are many amazing spots for Eiffel Tower picture ideas.

Here, not only are there some pretty glorious Eiffel Tower photo views but you’ll be able to get the river in your photos too. Not just for photos but it’s also the best place to view the Eiffel Tower too throughout the day and in the evening, especially when it lights up.

When to Visit: While it can get quite crowded, the banks of the Seine are pretty long so there’s plenty of space for everyone to get the perfect photos. For this reason, it’s a great Eiffel Tower Photo Spot at all times of the day.

eiffel tour paris photos

Galeries Lafayette Haussmann

A department store might not be the first place you think of when it comes to views of the Eiffel Tower. This iconic Parisian store, however, has a lovely rooftop with stunning views of the surrounding area and you guessed it, the magical Tour Eiffel.

Simply enter the store, make your way up to the top floor and follow the signs for the rooftop. It’s free to enter but it is crowded so I highly recommend getting here when the store opens at 10 am (or 11 am on Sunday). To double-check opening hours on their website click here .

The Eiffel Tower is quite a bit of distance from Galeries Lafayette Haussmann so it helps to bring a good zoom lens to capture it well. As it’s a rooftop there’s also a glass and metal barrier that’ll be in your photos too but it’s a great spot to get creative.

Not only does it have great potential for Eiffel Tower photography you can also photograph the Opera Garnier and a few other Paris landmarks from here too.

When to Visit: The Galeries Lafayette rooftop can get pretty busy so try to aim for 10 am or soon after it opens to avoid the crowds.

eiffel tour paris photos

Seine River

For a completely different perspective, the Seine River offers many more Eiffel Tower photo shoot opportunities. Many take photos from the banks of the Seine but why not get on a Seine River Cruise and take photos of the Eiffel tower from the boat instead?

There are many Seine River cruises to choose from which are a great way to not only get photos of the Eiffel Tower but to see some other Paris landmarks too. Make sure to look into this 1-hour Seine River Cruise for a simple trip or check out this Evening River Cruise with Dinner for an upgraded experience. This will also give you a great chance to take some sunset photos of the Eiffel Tower.

When to Visit: During all times of the day or in the evening, depending on which type of river cruise you opt for.

Pont Alexandre III

Probably the most beautiful bridge in Paris, Pont Alexandre III is another excellent spot to take cool pictures of the Eiffel Tower. There are many different spots for photos here ranging from on the bridge itself or from the banks of the Seine which allows you to get photos which include both the Eiffel Tower and the bridge itself.

My personal favorite spot to take photos on Pont Alexandre III is from the right bank a little further across from the bridge (see photos below).

The gold ornaments on the bridge allow your photos to really stand out, especially against a Parisian blue-sky day. This spot really allows you to get creative when it comes to subject matter and compositions in your photos.

When to Visit: As the bridge is long there are plenty of spots to take photos here. This makes Pont Alexandre III a great photo spot at all times of the day.

eiffel tour paris photos

Au Canon des Invalides/Rue Saint-Dominique

Rue Saint-Dominique itself is one of the most beautiful streets in Paris and it’s full of quaint Parisian cafes, delis, bakeries and boutiques. It’s also surprisingly local- arrive early in the morning and you’ll find locals starting their day, picking up croissants and going shopping.

Au Canon des Invalides is a little cafe/brasserie on Rue Saint-Dominique and on this part of the street, you’ll find some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower. You can choose to include the cafe in your photos or you can avoid it altogether but the picture of the Eiffel Tower with this beautiful street really is one of the best shots you can get in Paris.

When to Visit: You’ll need to be quite flexible with this photo because this is a working street that sees a lot of vans and delivery trucks in the morning so you might have to be patient when it comes to taking these pretty pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

Also, if it’s a sunny day this street also gives really harsh shadows so it’s better to come on a slightly cloudy day when the light is more diffused.

eiffel tour paris photos

Le Recrutement Cafe – Rue Saint- Dominique

Just a view steps from Au Canon des Invalides on the corner of Rue Saint-Dominique and Bd de la Tour-Maubourg is Le Recrutement Cafe another popular photo spot with brilliant Eiffel Tower views.

Again you can photograph the pretty cafe with the Eiffel Tower in the background or miss it altogether. Just make sure not to miss the opportunity to photograph the quintessentially Parisian streets with the bonus of having the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Remember that this is a busy intersection so you’ll need to be patient and watch out for oncoming traffic.

When to Visit: Same as Au Canon des Invalides above.

eiffel tour paris photos

Arc de Triomphe

From the top of the Arc de Triomphe, you’ll find some spectacular Eiffel Tower views and sweeping views of Paris in general.

The Arc de Triomphe is located fairly close to the Eiffel Tower so views from here are quite impressive. Climbing the iconic arch will also give you lovely vistas of the Champs Elysees, Concorde and even the Louvre on a clear day.

One thing to note is that the top of the arch does have a few iron spikes soldered onto the stone which kind of get in the way of photos. It’s not a problem if you just want to take photos of the view, but portraits or selfies with the Eiffel Tower in the background are a little problematic as the spikes tend to be in the photos.

When to Visit: At all times of the day, try to choose a nice clear day for good views of the Eiffel Tower and blue sky background.

What is the best place to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower?

There are many amazing spots to take photos of the Eiffel Tower that provide different perspectives of the iconic structure

For close-up photos of the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, Champ de Mars and Rue de Buenos Aires are best.

If you want Parisian street photos with the Eiffel Tower in the shot then Avenue Rapp and Rue Saint-Dominique are best.

For photos of the flashing Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars or Pont D’Iéna are best.

My personal favourite locations were the Jardins du Trocadero, Avenue Rapp and Rue Saint-Dominique. I also found that these were some of the least crowded spots too.

When is the best time of day to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower?

There’s always a good time of day to take photos of the Eiffel Tower but different Eiffel Tower Photo Spots are better at different times of the day. The busiest spots are best tackled at sunrise. These are Trocadero, Avenue de Camoens, Rue de l’Université.

Weather factors will also have some effect on your photos, for example, you want to aim for a lovely sunny sunrise when at the Trocadero to get that lovely golden light coming in. However for street photography locations like Rue Saint- Dominique you’ll want to wait for a little cloudy or hazy day to avoid those harsh shadows in your photos.

Finally, opening hours will limit when you can arrive at spots for example at the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann rooftop you’ll need to wait until 10 am and the Carrousel de la Tour Eiffel won’t open until later in the day either.

In general, you’ll want to take your photos between sunrise at 10 am. For pictures of the flashing Eiffel Tower, you’ll need to wait until nighttime and when the lights get turned on on the hour.

Top Tips for Photographing the Eiffel Tower

↠ Paris is a really popular photo destination so you’ll really need to be patient when it comes to taking photos at the most popular spots. You’ll see wedding shoots, engagement shoots, family shoots and just about everything else so you might need to queue to take the shot that you want. A good way to avoid this is to come early.

↠ That brings me to my next point. If you want good photos in Paris you’ll need to get up early and if you’re visiting in summer, that means REALLY early. I’m talking at 4 am early. This way you beat the crowds and get the best morning light. The good news is that you can always come back for a nap later on in the day.

↠ Give yourself a good few days in Paris to get the best photos. This is always a good idea because you never know what the weather will be like or what other issues might get thrown your way during your trip, hello forgotten camera battery!

↠ Bring a variety of lenses. I personally used all my lenses at these different photo spots and a zoom lens is particularly handy at some of the far away spots like Galeries Lafayette Haussmann. If you have a wide-angle lens you can also take great photos from right under the Eiffel Tower.

Overview and HistoryWelcome to Paris, the City Of Lights, La Ville-Lumiere! We're going to depart from the standard timeline here and just start looking at pictures. You can put the history together in your mind along the way, or live contentedly with an abstract expression of images, whichever you prefer. For lessons in light from the expressionist masters, blur yourself directly to the Orsay Museum and find Monet, Renoir and Cezanne waiting. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The River Seine divides the city into two halves, called the Left Bank and Right Bank. The right bank is on the north side, left to the south. In general the right bank claims the sophistication and modern development in Paris, while the left bank has the universities, parks and historic areas. There are two islands on the river in the middle of the city, Ile de la Cite and Ile de St. Louis. Here's a beautiful Flower Market on Ile de la City, which is the oldest section of the city. It's also home to Notre Dame cathedralThe Right Bank has a big hill called Montmartre, literally translating to "Mount Mars" or "Mountain of the Martyr", depending on which time period you take the story from. Its name dates back to at least 250A.D and it's home to the Sacre Coeur Basilica among many other things of note, such as the studios of Salvadore Dali, Picasso and Van Gogh. And what else? The Champs-Elysees, of course! The Champs-Elysees is the most prestigious avenue in Paris. L'Arc de Triomph stands at the western end of the Champs-Elysees, at the star shaped intersection of twelve major avenues which is called Place d'Etoil. The Arch is a monument to all who fought for France, especially during the Napoleonic wars.By the way, the sprint finish of the Tour de France -- the most prestigious bicycle race in the world -- comes down the Champs-Elysees. Catch it in the early summer. You may have heard of a museum called Le Louvre. Before you attempt to visit it, go through some tour de france training to build up your stamina. This is a museum big enough to take your whole summer to walk through, and that's without even stopping to look at any of the art.Situated right along the river is the Place de la Concord, the largest open square in the city. It's where Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and 2,798 of their closest friends met the guillotine during the French Revolution. The smell of blood was so strong, according to the tale, that a herd of cattle refused to cross the square.Let's see what we have on the Left Bank. How about Les Invalides, a stately group of museums and monuments dedicated to military history, which also houses a hospital and residences for veterans. The Left Bank has for decades been the center of academic life in Paris, which can be summed up in a word: La Sorbonne. La Sorbonne is the nickname for the University of Paris, founded in 1257. It sits in a historic scholarly sector called the Latin Quarter, which connects La Sorbonne to the Left Bank (Place Maubert). If Paris was a tropical island, this would be the coral reef.Near La Sorbonne can be found Le Jardin de Luxembourg, where Marie d'Medici's chateau stands. It's a pleasant little country house in Florentine style. They used it for a prison during the French Revolution and for Luftwaffe headquarters during WWII. It now houses the French Senate. Shakespeare and Co Library sits in the heart of the Latin Quarter and has earned an international reputation for being more than just a bookshop.Getting ThereTake a look at the Gare du Nord Paris North Station. One of six large train stations in Paris, it's the busiest one in Europe. If you're already on the continent, you very well may arrive here.As for airports, there are two: Charles De Gualle and Orly. De Gaulle airport is about 25 minutes by train from Gare du Nord station, Orly is a bit closer. Here's the train information for connections to the city.TransportationHere's one of the 380 metro stations in Paris, the Palais-Royale at the Louvre. Looking good! This is Europe's second-largest metro system and it's connected with the buses the commuter rail network to get you around the city.People and CultureBeside the fact that Paris contains all walks of life, "people and culture" in Paris is synonymous with food and wine. Here we are smack in the middle of it, La Contrescarpe at Mouffetard Street.Remember, champagne was perfected here during the Belle Epoque, and you need the proper setting in which to drink it.And check out this fish shop!! This is what the zoom tool was made for!In case you're wondering, there's a gritty side to Paris, too. Here's a little mobile graffiti. In the same vein, by which I mean "cheap" or "free", stroll around Left Bank to the flea market at Place Maubert.Street musicians are another great thing about Paris. Here are some drummers, some visual artists on the Quai de Conti, and there should be an organ grinder on the corner when you get there. Let me know if you see him.Things to do & RecommendationsStreet food -- get a croque monsieur or croque madam, it's a toasted cheese sandwich with or without ham. They're so good, it's the pizza slice of Paris! I can't for the life of me understand why nobody has shot a panorama of one.Street food part 2, and I quote:"the motherfucking best falafel in the world is there in the Marais. it's called La Du's and it's on the Rue de Rosiers. it's the 5th I think, right bank. If you flirt with the take out boys they'll give you more falafel too, I'm not kidding it's a fucking transcendant experience." "there's also this bar in the 11th, called the baron rouge, where on sunday a friend of the owner drives in from normandy with a truck full of oysters and just parks it in front of the bar and sells oysters out the back and you just eat them on the street and drink Muscadet off the top of parked cars." (Thank you Allison O'Leary)Spend a little time outdoors in the beautiful Botanical Garden, see if you can find the recycled dragon. No trip to Paris would ever be complete without... well actually the reason Paris is Paris because you never finish seeing it all.Move there, spend a lifetime there, walk everyplace you go and you still won't see it all. It's like New York, London or Tokyo; anyplace in such a state of constant change will remain eternally elusive.I almost said, "no trip to Paris would be complete without going up the Eiffel Tower and seeing the view from the top."Text by Steve Smith.

13 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower – Best Photo spots

30. Dezember 2019 by tabithaschr 6 Comments

A trip to Paris isn’t complete without some pictures with the iconic Eiffel Tower . I just love how the Eiffel Tower can pop up between streets , offering the prettiest views. I rounded up 13 secret places to view the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The best Eiffel Tower Photo spots

1 – trocadéro.

I admit, it’s not so secret anymore but it’s the best place to get the Eiffel Tower views. I like finding unique angles of this square, especially since it is kinda difficult to shoot here in winter.

If you want no one in the photos, try heading here during sunrise! Plus, it’s the best place to watch the sun rise over Paris.

2 – Rue de l’Université

This quaint street is ideal for viewing the Eiffel Tower and taking some photos in a very popular instagram spot.

You’ll meet a dead end on Rue de l’Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais where the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.

Tip: This street does offer parking so there may be cars in your photo!

Pro tip : Go there very early! It’s really a well known photo spot and there were more people than right in front of the Eiffel Tower. Crazy how famous these Instagram Spots are!

3 – Just find a quiet street nearby the Eiffel Tower for some great pictures

Yes, it’s actually that easy. Paris has stunning architecture and actually, you just need to find a quiet street with views of the Eiffel Tower to get some good pictures.

Just walk around Paris, and find your very own instagram spot!

4 – Rue St. Dominique

Not only is this street known for its shopping boutiques, but all along you’ll spot the Eiffel Tower peaking through the street. For navigation, search for ‚ Le Recrutement ‚.

5 – Pont Alexandre III

A beautiful bridge itself with some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower and L’Hôtel des Invalides.

Here, you will definitely have the chance to snap some pictures with the Eiffel Tower in the background. I love the golden ornaments that make this bridge a photo spot on its very own!

6 – Pont de l’Alma

You will find Pont de l’Alma nearby Pont Alexandre III. The views are very similar to be honest, but Pont Alexandre III can get very crowded.

If Pont Alexandre III gets too crowded, it’s a good place to take some photos though.

7 – Place de Mexico

I just love how the Eiffel Tower pops up between the beautiful French architecture.

I could never get tired of these typical Parisienne streets.

8 – Champ de Mars

For more quiet views of the Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars is perfect! Especially during spring and summer a must in every Paris itinerary.

With quiet I mean: there are definitely less people than on the very, very popular instagram spots. It’s very touristy though and you will find people selling their little Eiffel Towers everywhere.

9 – Anywhere at the Seine River

Actually, it’s very easy to shoot a picture of the iconic Eiffel Tower at the Seine River.

There are various photo spots to get that shot of the Eiffel Tower.

10 – Avenue de New York

Not far away from Pont de Bir-Hakeim, you will find Avenue de New York. Located directly at the Seine river, you will have the chance to capture some stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

11 – Rue Surcouf

A rather unknown place nearby „Le Recrutement“, just walk the street towards the Eiffel Tower and you will find the next photo spot.

12 – Avenue de Camoëns

You’ll most likely find other bloggers taking photos at this exact spot. Avenue de Camoëns is a quiet street just besides Trocadero that offers some of the bests views of the Eiffel Tower surrounded by stunning French architecture!

13 – Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a perfect place to capture the Eiffel Tower. I love how the bridge frames the Eiffel Tower in the background! A must area for Eiffel Tower photo spots.

I hope you liked these secret places to view the Eiffel Tower. If you are interested in some other photo spots, click here for the best photo spots in Paris, France.

Celine Dion performs on the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony in emotional comeback

Celine sang “l’hymne à l’amour” by édith piaf from high on the eiffel tower getting kelly clarkson choked up, by nbc new york staff • published july 26, 2024 • updated on july 26, 2024 at 6:27 pm.

It was a show-stopping, powerful conclusion to the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Celine Dion returned to the stage to perform on a platform of the Eiffel Tower for a mesmerizing comeback performance.

This is Dion's first performance in over a year after  canceling her Courage world tour  in May 2023 amid her battle with stiff-person syndrome. The autoimmune and neurological condition, which, which Dion first revealed in December 2022, causes painful spasms and makes it hard to walk.

"I actually can't talk," said a very emotional Kelly Clarkson after hearing her song.
