Fresh off of his sophomore album release this past April, rapper Future announced that he would be headlining the #HonestTour in various cities across the United States, aptly named for his album of the same title, Honest. Of these tour dates, June 10th, 2014 would be hitting Charlotte, NC at Amos’ Southend. Not only that, but up and coming rapper Que (known for his street anthem “OG Bobby Johnson”) and crossover sensation Rico Love would be his supporting acts. For those who might not know who exactly Future is, he’s an Atlanta, GA native who managed to make a name for himself by flooding the streets with projects throughout 2010-2012 that included the Streetz Calling and Astronaut Status mixtapes, which really grabbed the attention of hip-hop followers nationwide. On top of that, Future’s unique sound which encompasses his ability to rap as well as sing (albeit auto-tuned) have given him a leg up on the competition. Once he started to get the attention that he rightly deserved, he capitalized on it by releasing notable singles including “Tony Montana” and “Same Damn Time” which subsequently made it onto his debut album, Pluto. In addition to that, Future became arguably the best “hook” artist in the hip-hop/rap genre and further promoted himself by hopping on YC’s hit song “Racks“, which turned into a hit almost overnight – it now has 18+ million views. Since that point, things for Future have snowballed into mainstream success and now it’s almost impossible to not hear his voice on the radio. This evening also marked the third time in the past two years that Future has performed in Charlotte. He co-headlined the Power 98 SummerFest in August of 2012 at the Uptown Amphitheatre with Ace Hood, Chief Keef & Travis Porter. More recently, he opened for Drake alongside Miguel on the Toronto rapper’s Would You Like a Tour? at Time Warner Cable Arena. After the standard milling around and house music prior to anyone performing, things started to kick off at around 8:15-8:30pm with Rico Love. He was on stage for roughly 20-25 minutes and performed, among other songs, “B*tches Be Like”, Usher’s “There Goes My Baby” (which he wrote), and “What You Saying” before capping things off with his most recent hit, “They Don’t Know“, which essentially turned the entire venue into one big sing-a-long session. The crowd was really starting to get warmed up at this point and undoubtedly would have gotten out of control had Que come on to perform his trunk-rattling hit “OG Bobby Johnson“. Unfortunately, he was MIA and never made an appearance. Therefore, another session of house music began between acts that lasted for roughly 30 minutes or so before the main attraction hit the stage. But my oh my, was it worth it. The lights dimmed, smoke covered the stage. It was time. TURN UP TIME. In less than 30 seconds, Future transformed an otherwise mild crowd into a loosely contained riot, which I was at the forefront of. The first song Future performed was “Chosen One”, off of the FBG: The Movie mixtape. From there, the Atlanta native continued to lay down hit after hit as the audience ascended to Pluto, then Mars, at the same damn time. All things considered, this night proved to be a success and Future yet again reiterated why he was a force to be reckoned with in the hip-hop industry. If you somehow managed to miss him last night, you’re not entirely out of luck. Future will be performing tonight at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach if you’re willing to make a drive. It will be well worth your time and he’ll undoubtedly crush the stage, but hey, I’m just being #Honest.

I saw Future perform for the first time at the Fillmore in Charlotte, NC last year in March. If always said anytime he comes to Charlotte to perform I WILL BE THERE. My son and I attended the Nobody safe tour on Sunday here in Charlotte and he put on a HELLUVA SHOW, and his DJ, Esco, OMG. He knows how to get a crowd CRUNK. I love them both. I CAN'T EXPRESS IT BUT IF HE WAS TO COME BACK THIS YEAR I WILL GO SEE HIM AGAIN. We really enjoyed the concert. I'm a die hard Future fan and so is my son. I love future and his music. I feel a lot of lyrics. One if my dreams or wishes is to meet Future and do Esco. They are so HElluva, but the two of them together is like launching a bomb. I'm A FUTURE FREEBANDZ FAN 4 LIFE. I LOVE ME SOME FUTURE

Security was very poorly executed.I get that in the Mosh Pit there will be a degree of pushing but hair pulling, people elbowing down to the ground, nails ripped off, earrings ripped out is NOT ok just to push me away from the front where I was.I then decided to move to the back and then there were people fighting, countless people smoking weed which made me sick yet security just walked by.In fact at one point one of the Show Sec security (blonde girl) shoved past me nearly knocking me off my feet!I will never ever attend this Venue ever again, absoulutely awful and a traumitising experience to say the least to be honest very horrible experience!

Yo I had so much fun at this show!!!! And they hooked Future's stage stuff up nice!! With the lights and smoke and the DJ!!! It was also so cool how he had the confetti come down from the ceiling!! Ty Dolla Sign had a nice performance and so did the new music artist from Dreamchaser Records!!! Future himself killed it!!! Hot performance!!! Like I said I really enjoyed myself!! Hot Show and I can't wait till he comes back here to Philly to do another show!!! And i just want to say that the Fillmore is a nice place that was my first time there and I hope that they keep bringing talented artist there !! Enjoy your day!! God Bless

This was the worst show I have been to by far. I go to a lot of concerts and I am pretty sure these good reviews come from hypebeasts who suck dick for artists like future. To back up my claim, Future would change the song while in the middle of rapping another, he would constantly walk off stage for minutes at a time, not even playing his own music while he was off, the audio was off entirely. The most I heard a song play was about a minute and he would change songs before the beat even dropped sometimes. Good thing I got my ticket as a gift otherwise it would have been a complete waste of money. Do not go to these shows.

It was a damn good concert. Im glad i went. First ty $dolla sign came out and did a decent show but it was only 30 minutes. Some songs he only singed past of it.

Next future came out and it was a dope show. It had some and mirrors and great effects to make it better. He preformed all his old hits first then took a 5 minute break and did his new hits. He preformed alot of songs great show.

Future was supposed to be Nicki Minaj’s Supporting act for her 11th March 2019 show but he did not appear to be there and there was no email telling me otherwise. I am upset by this as there should of been some recognition of this before or at least during the show.

alysha-marwaha’s profile image

this concert was really good, except the fact that future appeared only for around half an hour. There was no problem at all, maybe just when one of the singer's singing was kind off boring.

In general we spent a pretty nice moment there

Future Announces 'One Big Party' Tour With Special Guests

Future Announces 'One Big Party' Tour With Special Guests

Future is ready to return to the road in the new year.

On Tuesday (December 7), the Atlanta hitmaker announced the One Big Party Tour, his first headlining trek in more than three years. The jaunt looks to be a brief one, with only six shows scheduled so far.

Yet it promises to be a star-studded and stadium-status affair, with a slew of surprise guests joining Future at various arenas across the country.

The tour gets underway at Houston’s Toyota Center on January 7, before rolling through Charlotte’s Spectrum Center, Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, Chicago’s United Center and Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena. Future and co. will then close things out at the TD Garden in Boston on January 27.

“ShowTime. I’m ready To bring ONE BIG PARTY too your city! PLUTO,” the “March Madness” rapper wrote on Twitter. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. EST via Ticketmaster .

The tour announcement caps off a milestone year for Future, who took his decorated career to new heights in 2022 thanks to his seventh studio album I Never Liked You .

The project opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 222,000 first-week units following its April 29 release, while its hit single “Wait For U” featuring Drake and Tems also occupied the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Freebandz boss became just the second artist in history to simultaneously debut atop both charts . Drake first achieved the feat last year with Certified Lover Boy and “Way 2 Sexy,” which coincidentally featured Future.

Pluto also added to his trophy cabinet this past year as “Wait For U” won Best Collaboration at the BET Hip Hop Awards and Favorite Hip Hop Song at the American Music Awards . He’s up for six awards at the 2023 Grammys , including Best Rap Album ( I Never Liked You ), Best Rap Song (“Wait For U”) and Best Rap Performance (“Pushin’ P”).

While the distinction doesn’t come with its own silverware, “Wait For U” was recently crowned the most streamed song of 2022 on Apple Music , further cementing Future’s continued dominance.

Hendrix will no doubt be looking to carry this momentum over into 2023. Also on the slate for next year is a headlining performance at Rolling Loud California in March, as well as potentially more big-money moves in his mission to become Hip Hop’s next billionaire .

“My main focus right now is just to do something I never done. One thing I never done is make a billion dollars,” he said in an interview with Billboard last month. “I ain’t done that, so I’m focused on that.

“Sometimes I ask questions, if I meet a billionaire, like, ‘How’d you get to where you got?’ … But the way I get mines might be different. It just helps me to understand that I’m on the right path when I talk to people that have billions.”

The rapper has announced dates for his “One Big Party” tour. The six-date arena trek kicks off Jan. 7 at Houston’s Toyota Center before making its way across the U.S., with stops in Charlotte, Atlanta, Chicago, and D.C., wrapping Jan. 27 at Boston’s TD Garden.

Fans can expect surprises along the way as Future will be joined by some of his famous friends during the month-long trek.

But first, he will close out the year with a performance at “The Ball Drops in Brooklyn” concert on Dec. 30 featuring Lil Uzi Vert, King Combs, and Chinese Kitty. West Coast fans can also catch him live at Rolling Loud California in March.

It’s been a big year for the Atlanta rapper, whose platinum-certified album I Never Liked You dropped in April featuring the chart-topping hit “Wait for U” with Drake and Tems. He was nominated for seven Grammys, more than his entire career combined, and took home an American Music Award for Favorite Hip-Hop Song for “Wait for U.”

Future recently joined DJ Khaled on stage during the Soundstorm Festival in Saudi Arabia. He can also be heard on Metro Boomin’s new album Heroes & Villains .

Tickets are on sale now. See dates below.

Future Announces "One Big Party" 2023 Tour

Wireless Festival 2021

Future's hitting the road in 2023.

Future will be coming to a city near you in 2023, as part of his upcoming "One Big Party" tour.

The Atlanta rapper shared dates for his upcoming tour on social media this morning, which will include performances from some special guests. The upcoming stint will be a short one, consisting of six dates in total. However, he'll be kicking off the new year with a bang.

The One Big Party tour will take over Stadiums in major cities, beginning with Houston's Toyota Center (Jan.6th). From there, Future will touch down in Charlotte, NC's Spectrum (Jan. 13th) before making his homecoming return to Atlanta at the State Farm Arena (Jan. 14th). Then, he'll touch down at the United Center in Chicago (Jan. 20th), Washington, DC's Capital Arena (Jan 22nd), before closing things out at Boston's TD Garden (Jan. 27th).

It will certainly be an exciting string of shows, considering that Future hasn't toured in five years at this point. However, he has been a mainstay at Rolling Loud throughout the year. Fewtch headlined the Miami and New York dates. Additionally, he also headlined the inaugural launch in Toronto. The rapper will also headline the 2023 Rolling Loud festival in California.

The announcement of the One Big Party tour comes after a highly productive year including the release of I Never Liked You . Future's ninth studio album arrived after a nearly 2-year hiatus. The project shot to the top of the Billboard 200 with over 200K units in its first week while the single, "Wait For You" ft. Drake and Tems secured #1 and became the song of the summer.

Clearly, Future has some big plays on his mind in 2023. Hopefully, he has a bigger tour on the horizon after the upcoming One Big Party tour.

We'll keep you posted on who the special guests will be. Check out the dates for Future's One Big Party tour below.

Future

Future announced last week that he’ll hit the road at the start of 2023 for his “One Big Party Tour.” He said he was bringing friends, but didn’t disclose who. Now fans know.

Yesterday (Dec. 12), via his Instagram Story, the Freebandz president revealed who will join him on tour. Future’s friends will include Kodak Black, Trippie Redd, EST Gee, Polo G, Babyface Ray, Doe Boy, Lil Jairmy, Rob49, Double 00 and Ocean x Kungfu.

The six-city, month-long tour will kick off on Jan. 7 in Houston at the Toyota Center and end on Jan. 27 in Boston at the TD Garden.

Before The WIZRD hits the road, he’ll make an appearance in New York on Dec. 30 for The Ball Drops In Brooklyn show. Along with him, Lil Uzi Vert, King Combs and Chinese Kitty will all take the stage.

When Future is done touring, he will gear up for 2023 Rolling Loud California. The music festival takes place the weekend of March 3-5 at Hollywood Park Grounds outside of SoFi Stadium. He will be there with Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Lil Wayne and more.

Life has really been good for the Atlanta rapper. This tour comes after the success of his best commercial body of work to date, his ninth studio album, I Never Liked You. The album, which dropped in April, contains 16 tracks and is certified Platinum. It features Drake, Kanye West, Tems, Young Thug, and Gunna. The deluxe version features Babyface Ray, Lil Baby and Lil Durk.

I Never Liked You debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It earned more than 222,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, and Future received six Grammy nominations, which is more noms than he has had in his entire career. Pluto even took home an American Music Award for Favorite Hip-Hop Song for “Wait for U,” featuring Drake and Tems.

Future is bringing in the New Year with a bang and he wants you there. Tickets for the “One Big Party Tour” are now on sale at Ticketmaster. Check dates for a city near you.

Future is hitting the road for a new tour in 2023 and he's bringing some of his famous friends with him. On Tuesday, December 6, the "Wait For U" rapper announced his plans to hit up several major cities for his One Big Party Tour. The festivities will begin in January at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas before it travels to other cities like Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Washington D.C. and the State Farm Arena in his hometown. Future will close out of the string of shows in Boston. "ShowTime," Future wrote in his announcement post. "I’m ready To bring ONE BIG PARTY too your city! PLUTO."

The flyer says the tour with include Future "and friends" but the guest list hasn't been revealed just yet. There are only six dates listed so far, but it's possible that more could be added on in the future. His tour announcement comes after Future had the biggest year of his career. In addition to gaining the most platinum albums of the 2010's, Pluto was also nominated for seven Grammys in categories like Best Rap Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Album. The nominations stem from his popular album I NEVER LIKED YOU which officially went platinum on November 30. Future's upcoming shows will set the stage for other major performances he's got planned for 2023. Last month, Rolling Loud revealed that the Freebandz founder will headline its annual event in Los Angeles along with Travis Scott and Playboi Carti . Future is expected to close out the music festival.

“Those two Billboard [chart] entries were a milestone in my career,” she says proudly. “I feel like it encouraged and motivated me to get one [as a lead artist]. I’m glad they included me on that music, but now I wanna do it myself.”

Check out the rest of our interview with Mariah, as the singer opens up about bringing her cat on tour, keeping Young Thug in the loop about the Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud and much more.

How has tour been? What are some of your favorite stops so far?

It’s been really long this time, I guess. When I got sick, we postponed a few [shows] and that made it seem longer. The top three cities – Atlanta definitely was No. 1, Orlando and probably Detroit.

Do you have any hobbies on the road to stay sane on tour?

My cat, I bring him everywhere. He’s with me right now. I’ve taken him so many [places] — I’ve taken him places he wasn’t supposed to go. Everywhere we’ve gone. He’s been to Portugal. When I tell you this cat has been all over the world. He has been more places at the age of three than [anybody]. I wonder does he even know the life he lives? I’m sneaking him in and out it’s crazy.

Other than that, my hotel room workouts. I’m trying to keep my abs together. Running around with [Morgan], and my cousin running around with us and my newly-adopted sister DJ Honey. It’s been a good time.

I respect that you’ve kept your prices low for your tour compared to some other artists.

I feel like I have a lot of younger fans, so I don’t really want it to be not affordable for them. When I was young, I could not afford that stuff. When I go on the internet and I see the resale prices, it kinda upsets me. We talk about the resale prices a lot — because who the hell can afford that? I couldn’t back then, and I’m not saying nobody can now. It’s a little unfair. I guess it’s just I’m growing and it comes with it or whatever.

Even some of the merchandise is re-sold for ridiculous prices. In some ways, I’m flattered that people are willing to spend that on me. I hope they feel like they’re getting their money’s worth. I feel like we’re putting a lot into it. I just want everyone to feel welcomed here with whatever I’m doing.

You’ve come a long way as a performer. How did you end up getting comfortable and what did you work on? I heard you reference ear-mouth coordination.

When I was on tour with other people, I just tried to have a good time. I feel energy is contagious. I feel like if I’m having a good time and enjoying my performance, it will rub off on other people. I used it as target practice, and when my tour came around, we spent a lot of time trying to elevate the production in general. I appreciate the fact my sister puts so much time into it. I feel like I can trust her with the task, when I was trying to focus on my part of the craft. I feel like it came out really good. I read a lot of the things people say about and I feel they really enjoy themselves. It’s a total difference from where I first started. I can’t wait to see what happens next when we’re in bigger venues as we keep going.

Morgan Buckles: The internet had so many things to say about her at that time. They talked about her vocals, how nervous she was, her breath control. Between then and now, we’ve done so many tours. In building the right team around her, everything has gotten so much better. It’s a world of difference. She’s much more confident.

I feel like people were trying to bully you on your performance initially. What was your reaction to that?

I didn’t necessarily have that. Even if I liked music or liked to sing, I never looked at it as if it was gonna be my career. From the starting point I had no idea what I was doing. Somebody told me the other day they were there for my first-ever Rolling Loud performance , and another called Day N Vegas, and there’s this viral clip from this festival. Rolling Loud was my second performance and Day N Vegas was my third or fourth. They gave me this great slot. Everything aesthetically was there, and I just wasn’t experienced in being a performer. I would get so anxious about it, and I was so nervous, and I would laugh it off or play off the anxiety and it wasn’t received that well in the beginning.

The internet can cut it up and make it into whatever they want to make it into. It’s not that I was asking for grace from anybody, but the truth of the matter is I didn’t know what I was doing. It did take a lot of practice. Whenever I get the opportunity to go on tour again, I go and take it, because I feel like I could be better at what I’m doing. It’s easier to get into character now. It’s not necessarily a character, but what you want to portray at that moment.

Do I feel like I was a little bullied? I just feel like people weren’t that open to knowing the story they just ran off with pieces of information without knowing or lack thereof when it comes to me seeing, growing up and doing that. I just had to work overtime to make it right in real time because I didn’t have that experience. Now I have it and it’s way better. I’m just happy the people who were they to see it in the beginning are also here to see the growth now.

It started off slow. I guess I’m not trusting of people in general. I’ve had a few managers and everything. Not saying they weren’t trustworthy, it’s different when it’s your sister, because I can’t get rid of her in real life. If there’s a task and a goal, it’s easy to share goals — because we want some of the same things in life. Not just for ourselves, but for each other. I feel like working together does more good than bad. You could say that with a lot of people, but specifically with my sister it’s like keeping it in the family. The more success I garner, the more success she garners. It can only contribute to the legacy. Our parents – repaying them for the time and the energy they put into raising us.

Is it tough to juggle the roles of talking to her as a sister and then talk as a manager because those lines can get blurred?

They can – that’s inevitable. Don’t get it twisted, we work well together, but there’s been plenty of times she’s cursing me out, I’m cursing her out. That’s sisterly, I guess. I’m not saying that’s how we should go about it, but it happens. We spend a lot of time together. It’s inevitable that you won’t see eye-to-eye at some point. There’s still common goals and objectives. That’s not to be overlooked for minor disagreements. I just feel like I would rather build something with her than to build with someone else. I’d rather just see the people I grew up with and was raised with thriving off a gift that God gave me. I feel like there’s a way to capitalize in their own ways on what I’m doing.

Morgan Buckles: If you ask Mariah, I don’t know the difference. I’m older [by three years], so I think to Mariah I’ve always tried to boss her around whatever she’s doing. Right before she went on tour with Rod Wave, she fired her old tour manager and asked me to do it. She realized very quickly I was much more assertive than she thought I was. After that tour, she ended up parting ways with her management. I never looked at it as if I’d be her full-time manager, but I knew she needed help with so many things. I knew I could do everything extremely well, and I care more about it because she’s my sister. Anytime there was a need for anything, I would help her figure it out.

It’s definitely not always easy. You know how it is with siblings. If I chose to ever manage other people, it would be a walk in the park. Not that Mariah is difficult as an artist — but just the dynamic of certain relationships. They teach you so much about yourself. With the exception of my parents, Mariah’s been the longest relationship I’ve had in my whole life. We know how to push each other’s buttons and get under each other’s skin. I feel like working with anybody else would be a breeze. Nobody would ever be able to get to me like Mariah. Nothing would feel more rewarding either.

You made your Hot 100 debut with “IDGAF” with Chris Brown and Tee Grizzley, and followed that up the next week on 21 Savage’s “Dark Days “…

I feel like it’s important for people like that to inspire younger artists who are doing things for the first time — because a lot of people in Atlanta have done that for me. I don’t want to say “duty,” but it’s a goal for me to be able to do that with other people. That’s why I brought Chxrry 22 and Ryan Trey with me on tour, because I see potential with them. If somebody looked out for me when I was at that point in my career, it could’ve made a world of difference.

Touching on Young Thug — what are your conversations like recently, and how often do you get to speak to him?

I talk to him every day, all day. When I have the opportunity to go to court and tune in physically, I am there. I feel like he appreciates, respects and encourages the fact that I have a strong work ethic and am actively working as much as I can. It’s good to do that, because if I didn’t I probably would be a little more down and out about it. He’s done a lot of the things I’m doing now, but he’s, like, living vicariously through me again. We talk about it all the time. I feel like he pushes me to do more things. He’s very encouraging. He’s definitely supportive.

Are his spirits up?

Is he up on current events? Does he know about the Drake-Kendrick feud?

For sure. I tell him everything. I might tell him too much. I play him the [diss] songs over the phone and s–t. He’s a lover of music in general. He f–ks with everybody. I don’t think he would ever be able to – let me not speak for him. He love music though.

He thinks it’s interesting, for sure. We were listening to some of the songs. Not all of them, because now I’ve gotten lost. In the beginning, I was like, “Hey, there’s a tizzy going on.” I played him some of it. I feel like those two people are both great rappers. With all of the rappers with the guy and the girl rappers, granted it’s cool for the craft, and to be able to keep up with that — because let me not lie and say there’s no competitive energy in the music industry. Because there is.

How did you feel about the reception to To Be Eaten Alive ?

I feel like [people have treated it] it really well. I feel like I got a lot of new listeners from that project. They love [my earlier projects] Ry Ry World and Master , but I feel like I’ve garnered a lot of new attention from To Be Eaten Alive . Even with Epic my label, I actually love and appreciate them. I love my A&Rs as people and professionals. I love Jennife [Raymond], I love Sylvia [Rhone] and [Ezekiel Lewis]. They have definitely believed in my project from the get-go. As we listened to it in the early stages, I just feel like they were there for it. They loved it from the jump. They’ve supported and encouraged me. They put a lot into it — almost as much as I do. And I’m thankful for that.

How Big Is Taylor Swift?

future rapper tour dates

Taylor Swift?

As big as the Beatles? Michael Jackson? Beyoncé? We crunched the numbers.

By Joe Coscarelli Graphics and additional reporting by Courtney Cox and Fred Bierman

You might have heard: Taylor Swift cannot be stopped.

Her new album , “The Tortured Poets Department,” sold 2.6 million copies in its opening week last month, earning Swift her eighth Billboard No. 1 album since 2020.

At the Grammy Awards in February, she became the first artist to win album of the year for a fourth time, breaking a tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon.

And earlier this month, Swift’s Eras Tour, the 152-date, billion-dollar stadium takeover that began last year, resumed abroad before it returns to the U.S. in October.

Taylor Swift, in a sparkly leotard, stands onstage on a riser while singing into a microphone with one arm extended in the air. On video screens behind her, the large crowd is visible.

In 2023, according to the data tracking service Luminate, one in every 78 songs streamed in the U.S. was by Swift.

With a mix of prolific artistic output and relentless business savvy, plus cultural dominance as a celebrity, Swift, 34, has created such a swell of momentum that she is probably more popular — more omnipresent — 19 years into her professional music career than she ever has been.

That is not normal.

A crowd of excited fans stands in a parking lot outside a concert. Of the three in the foreground, one holds her phone in the air, one looks up and shouts and one closes her eyes and pumps her fist.

But just how big is Taylor Swift, in terms of the all-time pop pantheon?

The singer’s ongoing surge has inspired inevitable debates about how her success stacks up not only against her pop peers, like Beyoncé and Drake, but to the greats that came before them. Even Billy Joel said he could only compare this Swift moment to Beatlemania.

A black-and-white photo of Beatles fans screaming in a crowd, with a security officer placing a white-gloved hand on the shoulder of one screeching girl.

It may be impossible to do an exact, one-to-one comparison between Swift’s career and that of the Beatles — or Madonna, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John or your icon of choice. Besides music being personal and subjective, the nature of success (and how it is calculated) has changed drastically over time. Much of a star’s grip on the zeitgeist is also intangible — a vibe in the air, their influence moving subtly but undeniably through culture.

But the absence of a truly scientific comparison has never stopped the amusement that comes from the eternal sports and pop culture debates of our time: Jordan vs. LeBron (or Kareem, or Kobe). Brady vs. Montana (or Marino, or Mahomes). “Star Wars” vs. “Star Trek” (or Harry Potter, or the Marvel Universe).

Even without definitive conclusions, it’s impossible for certain loyalists, haters and obsessives not to wonder how giants match up using whatever evidence might be available.

So with Swift’s career still peaking late into its second decade, we ran the numbers and analyzed the data, taking stock of what she has accomplished so far — and when — alongside some of the heaviest hitters in each category.

Taylor vs. the Beatles Hit Singles

A page from Billboard magazine listing the “Hot 100” hits in the week ending April 4, 1964.

First, there are the Beatles, who for most music fans still represent the gold standard of pop mania in modern times.

When it comes to Billboard No. 1 singles …

… they set the benchmark.

From the early 1960s, when pop music usually came in the form of two-sided vinyl singles, until the Fab Four broke up in 1970, the band released 64 songs that landed on Billboard’s all-genre chart, known as the Hot 100.

In that time, the Beatles helped to usher in the rock ’n’ roll revolution — and the album age — by releasing more than a dozen LPs.

But many of the records they set for hit singles still stand today.

Let’s look at how Swift’s Top 10 hits compare to the Beatles’ over the course of their careers, starting with the year each of them released their first original single in the U.S.

What is incredible to remember is that almost all of the Beatles’ success — and their entire artistic output — happened very quickly.

Of the band’s 35 total Top 10 hits, 32 of them arrived in just eight years. (Three more Top 10s came after the band split.)

The Beatles came in hot, then they were gone — a risk for groups, with their various egos and complications, that Swift will never have to face.

Her career, on the other hand, has been a much slower burn, as she grew from country music ingénue to full-bore pop star.

Swift’s first Top 10 song (“Change”) didn’t hit until around her second album, “Fearless,” in 2008.

When we focus on No. 1s, the Beatles really dominate, with more chart-toppers than any other artist, a record they’ve held since 1965.

Out of the Beatles’ 20 No. 1s, the majority also came quickly, with 11 songs , including “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Love Me Do” and “Yesterday,” topping the chart in 1964 and 1965, their earliest years as a fresh-faced phenomenon.

Swift’s first chart-topper, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” in 2012, needed a more dramatic twist.

Seven years into her career, she left behind her Nashville sound and collaborated with the pop guru Max Martin, who trails only John Lennon and Paul McCartney with 25 career No. 1s as a songwriter.

The bulk of Swift’s singles success has come even later, with seven of her 12 total No. 1s, including “Fortnight,” “Cruel Summer” and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” arriving in the last five years , as her career entered its teens.

By that point in their musical lives, the individual Beatles were well into their various solo endeavors, with McCartney experimenting with new wave and George Harrison writing songs about race cars .

A black-and-white photo of a race-car driver, George Harrison of the Beatles and a race-car advisor standing in conversation.

But as with any comparison across eras, there must be footnotes and asterisks. When we look at Top 10s from the 1960s, we’re only counting an artist’s actual “singles” — songs released for purchase outside of a full album.

After 1998, the rules began changing to include any song on the radio, regardless of how it was released, and eventually counting digital downloads and streams. By today’s rules, the Beatles would have even more hits than Billboard’s official count.

A young person in a sun visor stares at an old fashioned computer monitor with the a screen up reading "Napster."

Swift, whose new album features 31 songs, each of which hit the Hot 100, has dominated with these new metrics: In 2022, she became the first artist to occupy the entire Top 10 on the Hot 100 at once following the release of “Midnights.”

She repeated and expanded upon that feat last month with songs from “The Tortured Poets Department,” which filled the top 14 spots on the singles chart.

This might measure a different kind of fervor than the musical ubiquity of the Beatles or others who ruled the radio later — a depth of obsession for Swift’s fans who stream her music billions of times and purchase it in multiple formats.

A screenshot of the Billboard Hot 100 list from the week of May 4, 2024. Taylor Swift occupies all top ten spots.

The length of Swift’s career has allowed her into the Beatles’ vaunted ballpark by giving her the chance to evolve her sound, grow her loyal audience and take full advantage of technological advances.

Yet as wild as it is for the Beatles to have accomplished so much in so little time, Swift’s longevity might be considered equally impressive in pop music, which often overvalues the new and — especially among female artists — the young.

Taylor vs. Michael Jackson Album Sales

A 1984-era photo of Michael Jackson in a sparkly black jacket, white shirt and dark pants, dancing onstage with a backup singer visible behind him.

Despite Swift’s streaming success — and ability to move even vinyl records — the high bar can only be Michael Jackson when it comes to album sales.

Like the Beatles, Jackson reached heights pop had never seen, changing the very nature of stardom, for better and worse, by kicking off the MTV video age and ruling popular culture amid tabloid mayhem.

Unlike the Beatles’, Jackson’s career was relatively long, from his time as a child star in the Jackson 5 until his death in 2009 at 50.

‘1989

(Taylor’s Version)’

But the meat of Jackson’s solo career lasted from 1972 through 2001, during which he put out 10 albums and followed a fairly typical arc for a pop career …

… the release of starter albums like “Got to Be There” and “Ben” in the early 1970s, then a big breakthrough — “Off the Wall” in 1979 — and a peak, before Jackson slowed down somewhat, at least commercially.

That peak just happened to be “Thriller” — arguably the peak of all pop peaks — which came out in 1982, when Jackson was 24.

For albums, going platinum — or selling one million copies — is the go-to stat. Let’s look at Jackson’s platinum albums vs. Swift’s , starting with the beginning of their careers as solo artists.

In the four-plus decades since “Thriller” was released, it has been certified 34 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, making it one of the most successful albums of all time.

Swift’s biggest albums so far are “Fearless,” which is officially 10 times platinum, and “1989,” at nine times platinum.

However, Swift’s platinum certifications are not totally up to date and do not yet count the sales of her redone “Taylor’s Version” releases, which have not been officially tallied by the R.I.A.A.

(It’s also worth noting that an album “sale” now means something different: a set amount of song streams or downloads is considered the equivalent of one album sold.)

Using the more recent sales data available for Swift’s albums, which can help us estimate where her R.I.A.A. certifications will be when they’re updated …

… she starts to approach — and even pass — Jackson’s monster platinum totals, giving us a better idea of how Swift will stack up to Jackson long term. Remember, Swift’s albums have about 30 years less of collective sales when compared to “Thriller” — and they’re still being actively promoted.

Swift’s “1989” — also released when she was 24 — may be the closest thing she has to Jackson’s biggest blockbuster …

… and she’s been strategic enough to release it twice, elongating what could be considered her career peak by stretching it across two distinct eras nearly a decade apart.

Part of Swift’s genius as she’s run up the stats these last few years — releasing nearly 200 songs since the pandemic — is that the music that first made her a star in the mid-to-late 2000s is exploding again alongside her latest hits, giving new fans a fresh entry point.

Already, Swift has released more solo albums than Jackson ever did, and with her productivity — including those two different versions of four of her albums so far — she can approach the King of Pop.

In all, Jackson’s 10 solo albums have been certified 72 times platinum. Swift’s 11 original albums have been certified 50 times platinum. But her album sales tell us that number, including Taylor’s Versions, is likely to be closer to 90. And she is very much still going, with “The Tortured Poets Department” already topping three million in about a month.

Taylor vs. Britney Spears A Pop-Star Arc

Britney Spears onstage with backup dancers visible behind her, wearing a crop top that's half pink and half silver, with silver pants.

Swift’s extended peak becomes even more of a standout when compared to a more typical pop trajectory — even one with towering highs.

Like Swift, Britney Spears released her debut single at age 16 and came to absolutely dominate the cultural conversation (sometimes in ways that discounted her music in favor of her love life).

Commercially huge in its moment, Spears’s music career was also relatively short-lived, which tends to be the case more often than not, especially for singers who are known as performers and celebrities more than quote-unquote serious artists.

Swift, unlike Spears, has been firm in branding herself as a songwriter from the beginning, helping stave off some sexist criticism of her music as frivolous.

BRITNEY SPEARS

‘... Baby One More Time’

future rapper tour dates

For reasons that became more complicated as time went on, Spears’s career sloped downward commercially basically from the moment it began, if you’re looking at album sales .

“ ... Baby One More Time ,” Spears’s 1999 debut, sold impressively. It’s certified platinum more times than, say, “Abbey Road” ...

… but it’s not quite “ 1989 ” even in raw numbers, leaving aside any questions of authorship, artistic merit and staying power.

The diminishing returns of Spears’s subsequent releases represent a sadly common path for the kind of pop singers that audiences can treat as disposable, with a new model always on the horizon.

Taylor vs. Madonna Era After Era

Madonna’s ability to reinvent — to persist as a woman in pop — is the reason we talk about artist “eras” to begin with. Another path-breaking solo pop singer with a huge peak, a long run of domination, a savvy command of marketing and unexpected longevity, Madonna has had a career that is 43 years long and counting.

From her breakthrough second album, “Like a Virgin,” released in 1984, when she was 26, through “Bedtime Stories” in 1994, Madonna was inescapable, pushing the boundaries of visual and sonic reinvention that are now considered prerequisites for top acts.

Let’s look at Madonna’s Top 10 Billboard hits compared to Swift’s, which shows how consistent both artists have been over extended periods of time — but also when in their careers each was most in the mix.

Madonna scored No. 1 hits across three decades, beginning with the title track from “Like a Virgin” in 1984.

In her first 10 years dominating the charts , Madonna had 10 No. 1s, ruling radio, MTV and nightclubs. She also appeared in blockbuster movies like “Dick Tracy” and “Evita,” expanding her cultural omnipresence.

Madonna’s peak was fueled in part by the kind of polarizing, shock-value controversy — think “Like a Virgin,” “Like a Prayer” or the “Sex” book from 1992 — that Swift has studiously avoided. (Although she, too, has had her share of extra-musical headlines, like the Kanye West V.M.A.s moment in 2009.)

But it was Madonna’s multifaceted fame as a triple threat that helped lead to many of her No. 1 hits, including “ Vogue ” (from “I’m Breathless,” the “Dick Tracy” soundtrack album) and …

… “ This Used to Be My Playground ” (the theme from “A League of Their Own”).

Swift has also dipped a toe into Hollywood, although her roles in “Valentine’s Day,” “Cats” and David O. Russell’s “Amsterdam” are less fondly remembered (and have resulted in no hit songs).

The most recent of Madonna’s 12 No. 1 hits (“ Music ,” from 2000) came 19 years into her career — where Swift is now — at the age of 42.

Madonna’s eight-year comeback period , from “Ray of Light” in 1998 to “Confessions on a Dance Floor” in 2005, resulted in six Top 10 hits. She has 38 overall (with none since 2012), compared to Swift’s 59 so far.

Taylor vs. the Veterans Touring and Awards

In a black and white photograph, Elton John wears large glasses and sings while seated at a microphone.

Alongside a pop survivor like Madonna, now 65, acts like Elton John, 77, and Bruce Springsteen, 74, are an interesting comparison point for Swift because of their productivity, longevity and critical acclaim — all of which has paid off on the road.

(See also: Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, who are not included here, but would be interesting points of comparison using slightly different metrics.)

While Madonna has slipped on the charts — none of her most recent four albums has gone platinum — she remains a major live draw, a standard give-and-take for a top-tier legacy act.

In a black-and-white photograph, Bruce Springsteen plays guitar against a large American flag backdrop. He is wearing a sleeveless plaid button down and denim pants.

John and Springsteen, both veterans about 50 years into their careers, also had periods of commercial dominance beginning in the 1970s with albums like “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” (released when John was 26, that pop-star sweet spot) and “Born to Run” (from when Springsteen was 25).

But as they settled into pop-star middle age, plateauing commercially, they too have persisted with uber-successful, long-running tours fueled by fan allegiance and critical acclaim.

APPROXIMATE GROSS PER SHOW

future rapper tour dates

Let’s look at the total grosses for the best-selling tours by John and Springsteen, which put them in the company of more commercially dominant artists like Swift, Madonna and Jackson.

John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, a late-career greatest hits show named for his biggest album, made nearly $1 billion in part because it lasted for six years and more than 300 dates.

Madonna’s best-selling tour was Sticky & Sweet , from 2008 and 2009. (Like Swift’s Eras Tour, Madonna’s recent Celebration Tour highlighted all the periods of her four-decade career, although it was less profitable and played arenas rather than stadiums.)

If you look at how much these major tours made per show, the list changes.

This is where Swift shines, taking in more than $17 million per concert. By the time it’s over, the Eras Tour could bring in over $2 billion in ticket sales.

One notable aspect of Swift’s career so far is that it seems to bridge the gap between two kinds of artists, both of which can become legacy acts with strong enough catalogs and fan bases: the sustained, hit-making entertainers who may be overlooked, at least at first, as musicians, and the serious singer-songwriters who tend to be more critically lauded.

The Grammy Awards, love them or hate them, are voted on by other musicians and provide a proxy stat for prestige and overall acclaim in the moment.

While Swift has already outpaced Jackson and Springsteen, it’s Beyoncé — another artist who has changed the way we talk about pop stars — who has the most nominations ever.

Looking at Grammy wins …

… we see artists like John and Drake, another modern juggernaut, drop on this list, having converted fewer of their nominations to victories compared with, say, Jackson and Springsteen.

Springsteen has won 20 Grammys across the decades, from his first for “Dancing in the Dark” in 1985 to his most recent, in 2010, for “Working on a Dream.”

Beyoncé is the winningest musician ever at the Grammys, where she has been awarded 32 times, topping the conductor Georg Solti (31) and the producer Quincy Jones (28), who was behind Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Yet Beyoncé has still never taken album of the year — where Swift has four trophies — and has won only once in the top categories , which include record, song and album of the year, plus best new artist.

It's been more than a decade since Beyoncé earned a top-tier Grammy, when “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” was awarded song of the year.

Madonna didn’t win her first Grammy until 1992 (for best music video!) and only has scattered victories since, indicating she may have been viewed by her industry peers as more of a commercial force than a musician’s musician.

It is worth pointing out that the Beatles won just four Grammys while active, including two in the big four categories, out of 20 nominations, demonstrating how hard it is to quantify musical quality and how esteem tends to shift over time. (Three more nominations and wins came after they broke up.)

The band took the top prize just once — for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” the first rock album to win, in 1968 — in part because the Grammys, until the late 1960s, were quite conservative, often recognizing old-school, traditional pop acts like Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. (“Help!” and “Revolver” both lost to Sinatra.)

Looking at stats like that, you could argue that the most popular musicians are taken more seriously as artists now than ever before, in no small part because of acts like the Beatles, Jackson and Madonna.

Taylor vs. Beyoncé and Drake Modern Heavyweights

Beyonce, dressed in all red and sunglasses, stands on stage with backup dancers in similar red outfits. There is smoke in the background and being emitted from the stage floor.

While Swift’s overall pound-for-pound standing in each of the categories we’ve looked at puts her in rare historical company, it is notable that two of her most immediate contemporaries — Beyoncé, 42, and Drake, 37 — are also legitimate challengers across the board.

All three artists have maneuvered the industry transition between CDs, downloads and streaming to become defining modern superstars while also maximizing those intangibles like cultural reach and celebrity domination.

Beyoncé, now 23 years into a solo career after her time with the group Destiny’s Child, stands with Swift when it comes to versatility and longevity, plus sustained commercial dominance.

Let’s look at their album sales as solo artists side by side.

Beyoncé’s commercial peak (so far) came with “ I Am… Sasha Fierce ,” released in 2008, when she was 27. That album has sold more than nine million copies.

Since then , while selling fewer records, she has focused on different pillars of legacy, pioneering the visual album format (“Beyoncé,” “Lemonade”), experimenting with genre (“Renaissance,” “Cowboy Carter”) and pushing the limits of an extravagant live spectacle (Coachella, the Renaissance World Tour).

Both Beyoncé and Swift have had big-selling No. 1 albums this year , during fresh periods of productivity.

Like Madonna and Swift, Beyoncé has continued to stretch the limits of what a woman’s pop career can hold, landing two chart-topping singles in her 40s (with “Break My Soul,” in 2022, and again earlier this year, with the country-influenced “Texas Hold ’Em”).

She has also performed twice at the Super Bowl — something Swift has yet to do — a stage where acts like Madonna, Jackson and Springsteen have solidified their unquantifiable grasp on culture.

A video board showing Drake rapping into a microphone looms over a round stage where the rapper performs.

And then there is Drake, a relentless hitmaker. Like Swift, Drake has optimized his output to take advantage of the way streaming has reshaped the industry and its accolades to set new records, including 328 total entries on the Hot 100.

Swift, with 232, is the only other artist with at least 200.

Featured Artist

Drake has 78 Top 10 hits so far in his career …

… and 13 No. 1s stemming from a variety of projects: official albums, less official mixtapes, streaming-only “playlists,” one-off singles, collaborative albums and more.

As a rapper and frequent guest artist, Drake, unlike Swift, has appeared on many hits by others …

… like his first No. 1, on Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” in 2010, accounting for a wide reach beyond his own releases.

Yet somehow Drake and Swift have never released a song together, despite sharing a certain canniness and expressing mutual appreciation for one another.

Even in his recent battle with Kendrick Lamar, Drake made clear that he sees Swift as his only real contemporary competition. (He has also rapped about having “more slaps than the Beatles” and frequently invokes Jackson’s success as a touchstone.)

Drake, Beyoncé and Swift all have this modern characteristic in common: They’re each actively playing for legacy, one eye on history and another on the record books. Ambitious and autonomous, they’re proudly writing their résumés in real time, juicing Billboard numbers and even gunning for accolades.

Taylor Swift appears onstage wearing a red, sparkled unitard and flexing one arm powerfully.

As a shrewd student of music and fame, Swift may know that she will never achieve the exact kind of domination that the Beatles, Jackson and Madonna had at the height of global monoculture, when everyone might pay attention to the same thing. But she’s certainly trying, taking bits and pieces from each’s career and making sure to maximize her work and reach in all the ways that weren’t available then.

She cares how she’s perceived and how she’ll be remembered when the noise fades and all that’s left are the songs — and the stats.

So far, it’s working.

Bad Bunny's new album is coming: Everything to know about 'Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana'

future rapper tour dates

Nobody knows what the future holds, but one thing is certain: Bad Bunny will keep delivering the hits.

The reggaeton superstar announced the title of his new album “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana” (“Nobody Knows What Will Happen Tomorrow”) in a teaser posted to Instagram Monday .

The clip shows the Puerto Rican rapper and singer, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio , riding inside of a car – wearing a New York Yankees cap and plaid head scarf – before dropped off at a swanky locale.

After he is greeted by a flurry of flashbulbs and eager photographers, Bad Bunny walks into a restaurant, where he’s suspiciously eyed by patrons. The “Where She Goes” singer then makes his way to another dining room area and is greeted warmly by a man in a suit.

“Don Benito, so nice to see you,” he tells Bad Bunny, who removed his head scarf and cap to reveal a shaved head look.

The teaser closes with the album’s title and Friday release date, set to a snippet of Bad Bunny’s new music. "The most awaited day for many has arrived," the singer wrote in Spanish alongside the video.

The album announcement follows Bad Bunny’s Thursday appearance at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards . The reggaetonero nabbed seven awards, including artist of the year, and took the stage for a high-energy medley of his recent hits.

Bad Bunny’s most recent studio effort, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned him a nomination for album of the year at the 65 th annual Grammy Awards in February.
