Papa Emeritus IV is coming to an amphitheater near you. Ghost , the Swedish hard-rock band led by the man of a thousand faces, Tobias Forge, has announced a U.S. summer tour .

Titled the Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023, the trek begins August 2nd in Concord, California, and plays 27 dates, wrapping up September 11th in Los Angeles. Along the way, the tour hits cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, Tampa, Austin, and Phoenix. Fellow Swedish metalheads Amon Amarth open all dates except the L.A. closer.

Ghost released their latest album, Impera , last year, a record that rails against bloated nations, empty leaders, and the glorification of stupidity. “We now have mechanisms within our own Western empire who are actively trying to, and to some degree have, created this time machine where we’re regressing,” Forge told Rolling Stone . “We’re flattening the earth. We’re submitting to stupidity, which is fucking unbelievable.”

Viral conspiracy theories about drake, kendrick beef are spreading fast, j.k. rowling used to want to debate gender. now she just insults trans people, david gilmour sets first u.s. tour dates in eight years.

Earlier this month, Ghost staged a pop-up exhibit at the Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip in L.A. that featured memorabilia, from stage costumes to a “corpse,” from their supposed Sixties incarnation. They also released a new version of the Impera track “Spillways” featuring Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott.

Citi and Artist Presales Begin Tuesday, February 14 th

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the  “euphoric spectacle”  (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had  “conquered metal and the charts”  when its fifth album  IMPERA  debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a  “sweetly constructed rock tune”  by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” —  IMPERA  finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee  Prequelle —or as ROLLING STONE put it,  “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of  IMPERA’ s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making  IMPERA  a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

It marked the third top 10 album — and fifth top 40-charting set — for the Swedish act. The 12-song effort was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace .

"Impera" landed at position No. 1 in Germany and Sweden, No. 2 in the U.K., Netherlands, Belgium and Norway, No. 3 in Australia, No. 5 in France and Ireland, and No. 20 in Italy.

GHOST leader Tobias Forge worked on the follow-up to 2018's "Prequelle" with Åhlund and Swedish co-writers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare , whose credits include Madonna and Lady Gaga .

Last month GHOST released a new version of its song "Spillways" featuring a guest appearance by DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott .

"Spillways" is taken from "Impera" , which was released in March 2022.

Ghost-North-American-Imperatour-Dates

Ghost have announced the North American leg of their ‘Imperatour’. The new series of ‘Imperatour’ shows will see the Grammy Award-winning Swedish alt-metal stars headlining 19 arenas across the U.S. and Canada (plus an appearance at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Rock Fest), kicking off August 26 at San Diego’s Pechanga Arena and running through September 23 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

The newly announced dates will comprise Ghost’s first North American run since the March 11, 2022 release of their fifth album Impera via Loma Vista Recordings . As reported by The Los Angeles Times in a Calendar cover story, Ghost “conquered metal and the charts” as Impera debuted at No.1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the Billboard 200 at No.2 with first week sales of nearly 70,000.

Internationally, Impera bowed at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more.

‘Straight Between The Eyes’: A Stone Cold Success For Rainbow

‘long live rock ‘n’ roll’ album: long live rainbow in uk top ten, best 1984 albums: 63 records you need to hear.

Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”, the Billboard Rock Chart (BDS) No. 1 charting “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock No. 1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” — Impera finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album Grammy nominee Prequelle —or as Rolling Stone put it, “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.”

The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of Impera’s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making Impera a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

The announcement of ‘Imperatour’s North American swing completes a perfect storm of Ghost mania, coinciding with this week’s ascension of “Call Me Little Sunshine” to the top of the Rock Radio chart and the unveiling of ‘Chapter 11: Family Dinner’, the newest installment of Ghost’s long-running narrative series of webisodes.

Support on all dates (with the exception of Green Bay which will feature support from Carcass, and the Blue Ridge Rock Fest) will come from Grammy Award-winning band Mastodon, who have quietly evolved into one of the most influential, inimitable, and iconic rock bands of the modern era.

Tickets for Ghost’s North American ‘Imperatour’ will be on sale from May 20 at 10am local time. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets in select markets before the general public beginning Wednesday, May 18 at 12pm local time through Thursday, May 19 at 10pm local time. Live reviews

Ghost are, regardless of whether you're particularly into corpse painted, Satanic-inspired heavy metal, one band that you should not miss live. Their concerts are not simply events to watch but experiential, jaw-dropping journeys to embark upon, and here's why: The Swedish sextet, clad in black hooded gowns and pointed beard-masks (yes, this is a thing) are led by their singer, known as Papa Emeritus, who dons full skull make-up and the robes and hat of a Roman Catholic pope (aside from the upside-down crosses adorning them). As well as their appearances, the band add to the intoxicating atmosphere of their shows with a backdrop of faux stained glass windows, and burn incense to give the audience the impression of being in a church, about to undergo something more than simply watching a group of men play musical instruments on a stage. They achieve this by including the audience in their twisted act, for example during the song Body and Blood, scantily-clad women appeared at the front of the stage offering the 'Eucharist' of a goblet of blood (aka wine) to the lucky fans in the front row.

I saw Ghost at the Fillmore Silver Spring, shorty after the release of their highly anticipated second album, Infestissumam, and was, frankly, blown away by the quality of their live show. Their appearances and Satan-worshipping act are contrasted by the liveliness of their music, which while categorized as heavy or black metal, is definitely more riff and vocal-driven than most metal, with songs such as the single Monstrance Clock and even an amped-up cover of the Beatles' Here Comes The Sun as part of their catchy, dancable set.

Even if you are the biggest metal-phobe around, you should go see Ghost. If heavy metal is your jam, but you're really not into the whole make-up/ crazy outfit thing, you should go see Ghost. If you're a fan or the music but are undecided on paying for a ticket, you should most definitely go see Ghost. The entire experience is something intoxicatingly unforgettable, and you will not regret it!

The wife and I got into the game a bit late but Ghost is as much a part of our yearly plans as is eating, sleeping, and hydrating. We were fortunate to have caught their last two rituals in Sweden last year and were able to capture video of Papa III being pulled off stage during Monstrance Clock. We were so happy that we made the trip from the states because seeing the end of Papa III in videos is nothing compared to the excitement of seeing it in person, from the barrier, and right up front. This band is very exciting to watch and being able to share the experience with my wife has made our evenings with Ghost that much better. My wife met Papa III last year and we've had the opportunity to meet Cardinal Copia 3 times this year during the meet and greets in New York and Pittsburgh. We're looking forward to meeting him again 4 more times out of the 6 rituals we'll be attending in December. We also already have our tickets and vacation planned for the 2 upcoming rituals taking place in Sweden in February 2019. When they make their way back to the states in 2019, we will begin planning our schedules around their tour dates. Here's a short back story as to why they are so important to me. My wife and I were just a couple of months away from signing the official court documents stating we were divorced. While trying to keep things amicable we would meet to discuss things and we'd often listen to Ghost. By the time they would be coming Philadelphia that year, we would have been attending as two single individuals and no longer married. We'd have fun listening to them and as that common ground grew stronger, so did we and slowly began reconciling. By the time they did come to Philadelphia that year, we attended as a happily married couple and continue to do so today. Getting my wife back, I can honestly say, is all thanks to Ghost and I couldn't be more grateful to them or happier sharing the experience with anyone else except for Kelly.

The concert at Liseberg amusement Park was amazing. They opened doors at 11:00 am and there was already like 30 people waiting for the concert impatiently. Security guards and workers of the Amusement Park were very nice and help people when there was an incident outside the park.

The concert started at 8:00 pm without any problem, the crowd went crazy when they went on stage. The setlist was the following:

- Square Hammer

- From the Pinnacle to the Pit

- Elizabeth

- Con clavi con Dio

- Per aspera ad Inferi

- Body and Blood

- Devil Church

- Year Zero

- Spokosonat

- Absolution

- Deus in Absentia

- Monstrance Clock.

At the end of the last show was when 2 bodyguards came on stage and dragged Papa Emeritus III from stage and Papa Emeritus Zero came in, anouncing that the party was over and a new era was about to start.

I only got into Ghost recently and caught their show last night in Toronto.

I decided to get some cheap tickets because I liked the music and thought they'd be fun to see live.

They by far exceeded anything I was expecting. The creepy church vibe, use of incense(which I have never encountered before, very nice touch!), Papa engaging the audience at every opportunity and even took a few minutes just to chit chat and kept us roaring and laughing for more. The use of costumes and masks was amazing.

Being an introvert I don't really go out much, and when I do I just kind of sit there and enjoy the music and the show. This is the first band that's made me get up from my chair and actually get into the show. Next time they come to the area, I'm definitely saving up and treating myself to WAY better seating!

Oh my Ghost, this is the live ritual gig experience your soul is crying out for. Full disclaimer: I love Ghost to bits and have been preaching my dark passion for years. Seeing them live again - this time in a bigger arena off the back of a couple more hit albums - reaffirms the faith.

Go and see Ghost and you will get a diverse setlist drawn from the band's spectacular back catalogue. You will get theatrics and pyrotechnics. You will get both humour and deep emotion, dark anthems and sublime instrumentals and an uplifting sense that you a witnessing something novel and special.

Ghost are - musically, aesthetically, spiritually - something to cherish and the live experience is one that is fun, compelling, cathartic and oh-so-damn-rock-n-roll. Go worship and have the time of your (after)life.

I can see Ghost every night and never get bored. It's not just the band and music, Tobias has created characters, including his own, for this band that are incredibly humble and patient with their fans. While the material can be considered risque, you will see children younger than 10 years old attending that are not only having the time of their lives, but participating in the meet and greets with their parents. Everything about these shows from the music, to the costumes, the characters, and the theatrics is so very much entertaining. We know as fans that there is so much more to look forward to with the future of Ghost and we'll have the opportunity to enjoy them for many more years. It is very exciting when tomorrow becomes today and you're standing in front eagerly awaiting Ashes to start.

If you have Ghost, you have everything.

Theatre; spectacle; a sense of cult worship; dark humour; thick fugs of incense; electric, otherwordly energy; lighting and atmospherics; collective frenzy; and most of all, the sweet music of the night.

Ghost are beautiful for so many reasons. Beneath their sublime subversive style - iconoclastic and gleefully irreverent - is a musical powerhouse making the most compelling and catchy rock in this epoch. The craftsmanship is incredible. The mystique is immense. It's a joy to behold in the flesh (and blood) and if you have the opportunity to absorb the spirit of Ghost in person, surrender to it.

Honestly, Ghost was one of the greatest entertainment experiences I've had. Join them in their ritual and hail your Master...

This was the best show I have ever been to (I have seen a lot too). Ghost put on an electric performance with great theatrics as well as fun conversational bits while the musicians took a couple minutes to get water, wipe the sweat off from under those masks, etc. We were also delighted by the pyrotechnics, fog machines, and surprise mummy dust confetti! Well executed and the band sounded amazing live. I wish I had gotten tickets for the following night too! I will definitely be seeing them when they come back into town. Ghost really knows how to stimulate all their fans' senses. Many thanks to the band for their commitment to their fans and the melodic tunes they share with us. Keep them coming please!!!

The Ghost show was truly amazing. For me, this was mainly due to two things:

1. Each and every member of this band knows his instrument very well, and they play their songs flawlessly and with ease. Leaving them energy to interact with the crowd while still not missing a note/beat.

2. Their concept is so well thought through. From the incense and small unveiling ritual before their set starts to the sisters of sin and perfected visual in set, movements and costumes, everything works brilliantly. And with Papa giving some background info to songs and rituals, you really get the feeling you are part of a well-oiled ritual.

I am very glad I've been to the show, and can't wait to see this band again :)

Awesome band! I had a older friend come with last night to the Stockholm show and even thou she said "It's not exactly my favourite but it was a terrific show, tunes to sing along to and this isn't the last time we do this!" with a huge smile on her face. This was my second Ritual, i love the costume changes, you really feel like your seeing a theatrical show instead of a regular concert, I'm use to sitting up front but this time sat in the balcony to see a spectacular light show and pyrotechnics, we sat in the upper balcony and could feel the heat from the pyro effects.I only wish i could have been yp front closer to Cardinal Copia,to get his blessings. Will not be the last time i go to see Ghost!

Official Trailer for Rock Band Concert Film 'Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now'

by Alex Billington May 9, 2024 Source: YouTube

Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now Trailer

"This is not a tale about death, but one of life." Rock on! An official trailer is out for a concert doc + horror film titled Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now , made by filmmaker Alex Ross Perry and the band's Tobias Forge. The film is a creation of the Swedish rock band called Ghost . Combining live performance from Ghost's Kia Forum shows in Los Angeles in 2023 with a narrative story that picks up plot threads from the band's long-running webisode series. Rite Here Rite Now was shot over the course of Ghost’s two sold-out shows at Los Angeles' hallowed Kia Forum. Ghost's debut feature film combines performances from the Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023 with a narrative. "Whether you're a devoted disciple looking to relive treasured memories of the Ghost live spectacle or among the curious uninitiated, Rite Here Rite Now will put you right there: putting your phones down and living in the moment—as a shadow of uncertainty looms—completely spellbound and in the thrall of this bombastic yet intimate cinematic portrait of Ghost." Starring Maralyn Facey as Sister Imperator & Alan Ursillo as Papa Nihil, with the band including Papa Emeritus IV . See the Papa below.

Official trailer (+ poster) for Tobias Forge & Alex Ross Perry's Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now , on YouTube :

Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now Poster

Shot over the course of Ghost's two sold-out shows at Los Angeles' hallowed Kia Forum, Rite Here Rite Now fully immerses viewers in the technicolor melodrama of the vaunted live ritual that has helped to propel Sweden’s foremost theatrical rock export to GRAMMY-winning, chart-topping, arena-headlining status the world over. Rite Here Rite Now is, however, so much more than a concert movie. Ghost's debut feature film combines live performance from the two-night finale of the band's Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023 with a narrative story that picks up plot threads from the band's long-running webisode series. The result is an utterly unique phantasmagorical blend: Flesh and bone renditions of favorites from all five of Ghost’s albums as well as the RIAA platinum-certified "Mary On A Cross" and more are interwoven with the silver screen debuts of a few faces familiar to the band's legions of fans worldwide—all interacting behind the scenes with Ghost's "Papa Emeritus IV", as his future and fate lay in the hands of the Ministry.

Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now is directed by Ghost's Tobias Forge and American indie filmmaker Alex Ross Perry (director of the films Impolex, The Color Wheel, Listen Up Philip, Queen of Earth, Golden Exits, Her Smell previously). Produced by Kristen Mulderig, Rick Sales, Craig Butta, Jonas Åkerlund; and by Popecorn Cinematic Pictures. Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now is set for a theatrical release worldwide in theaters for two-nights only on June 20th & June 22nd, 2024 this summer. For more info + tickets, visit the official site .

Prog/stoner metal favourites Baroness have announced a co-headline tour with occult rockers Graveyard for late 2024.

The pair will be supported by progressive doom quartet Pallbearer as they play across the UK and mainland Europe in October and November.

See the full list of dates and the poster for the tour below.

Tickets will go on sale from 10am local time on Friday, May 17.

Baroness comment: “Europe, we’re thrilled to announce our return, and to have Sweden’s Graveyard join us for these co-headlining shows.

“We’re also bringing our stateside friends, Pallbearer, with us, and we can’t wait to see some of you for the first time since Stone ’s release. ’Til the wheels fall off…”

Graveyard state: “It’s that time again! We are gearing up to hit the road together with Baroness and Pallbearer.

“This one will be a journey of sonic explorations beyond the pale. Europe will never be the same! Keep your ears to the ground, friends.”

Baroness will be touring to promote their latest album Stone , released last year to rave reviews.

Metal Hammer journalist Alex Deller gave the album a glowing 8/10 review .

Deller wrote: “More than a simple distillation or a ‘return to roots’, Stone is an ideas-heavy brute in its own right: a monument to ambition and heaviness, and to refusing to rest too long in one place lest roots or languor take hold.”

Graveyard will be promoting their new album 6 , released via Nuclear Blast Records in September, and Pallbearer will be on the road off the back of new album Mind Burns Alive , which comes out on Friday, May 17.

High energy funk-jazz band Ghost-Note to play Detroit's El Club Tuesday evening

ghost tour lineup

“It’s gonna be unapologetic funk. And it’s gonna be energetic. And it’s gonna be a wild ride, lots of high-energy solos and cool ensemble work.”

That’s how percussionist Nate Worth describes funk-jazz outfit Ghost-Note’s upcoming performance at Detroit’s El Club on Tuesday.

Werth founded Ghost-Note in 2014 after several years with Grammy-winning jazz fusion sensation Snarky Puppy. Ghost-Note is touring the country on the heels of dropping their third album, “Mustard n’ Onions,” a wildly fun, funky sonic ride.

Werth said the album’s recording process was an unusual journey.

“In the summer of 2019, we were in between tours,” he said. “One of my friends has a home studio and a place where we can store our backline gear for touring the West Coast, so we’d always start in L.A. and end in L.A. The guys would come out three days early and go, ‘Let’s record this song I wrote,’ stuff like that, so everyone was writing on this record. We would have demos and would go into the studio and have a full song taught to us, section by section. We’d get it to the point where we felt good, and we’d do a full-band live track.

“That’s what I think was really special about the record. You’re getting everyone in a room at the same time, recording at the same time. And that’s something that, really surprisingly, people don’t realize is something of the past. A lot of music now is made (one instrument at a time, from separate locations). But for us, you know, you’d lost that energy.”

Between tours that year, the band crashed on air mattresses at the house with the studio.

“The environment you have to imagine is kind of like a jazz frat house,” Werth said with a laugh. “We’re just a bunch of guys in the band, sleeping on the floors. And we’re cooking food — like, the horns will be talking through their parts and making dinner while the rhythm section is learning some chords. Our sax player is amazing on the grill, so he’s outside smoking chicken wings. Then it’s like, ‘All right, guys, come inside, we’re (recording) the take,” and he’s got his chef apron on and picks up his sax.

“We’re brothers. We love each other. And people, musician friends, are coming by because they want to see what’s up. Some of them, we’re like, ‘Get on the record!’”

In 2020, the band went into the studio again two weeks before a tour, and for two weeks after the tour ended. Two weeks after that, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world, but by that time, they’d recorded 36 tracks. Pandemic complications paused the work on the material, but the band is now back in full force.

Funkateers will also have a second opportunity to catch Ghost-Note soon in the Motor City; this spring, they were announced among the lineup of the 2024 Detroit Jazz Festival .

“We love Detroit,” Werth said. “Every time we’re there.”

Doors open at 7 p.m. for Tuesday evening’s concert at El Club, 4114 W. Vernor Hwy. Tickets are $33.99 and can be purchased at elclubdetroit.com .

‘Little House on the Prairie’ cast members celebrate 50th anniversary of show’s debut with tour

PEPIN, Wis. (WKBT) - It’s been 50 years since “Little House on the Prairie” debuted on TV.

Some of the cast members were in Wisconsin, where the show was set, celebrating that anniversary.

When “Little House on the Prairie” debuted in 1974, starring the late Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert, Wendy Lou Lee, who played Grace Ingalls, said she never imagined the show’s legacy would continue decades later.

“I don’t think anyone thought that would happen, but Michael Landon, he predicted it that this would be here way longer than all of us would be here,” Lee said.

Friday kicked off Part 2 of the show’s 50th anniversary tour, highlighting the place author Laura Ingalls Wilder once called home.

“It started here. The story starts here, so that’s the whole thing. We wanted to pay tribute to the place where she was born and the Little House in the Big Woods book was written all about her time here in Pepin,” tour member Jackson Bishop said.

Cast members Jennifer Donati and Lee say the best part of it is now.

“We get to travel together at least once or twice a month and it’s really incredible. We do get to see Melissa Gilbert once in a while, but not that often,” Lee said.

For Pamela Roylance, who played Sarah Reed Carter, being on the show was a full-circle moment.

“I read the books when I was about 9 years old, and I loved the books. And I always wanted to be on the show. When I got on the show, it was a dream come true,” she said.

The actresses were asked what they thought Landon and Laura Ingalls Wilder would say.

“I’m sure Laura would be floored. I don’t think she could have even imagined all of this,” Donati said.

“And I think Michael Landon is smiling from heaven saying, wow, the work we did, and I’m gonna get emotional,” Lee said.

The celebration continued all weekend as fans came and met the participants.
