ABOUT HARDY

Big Loud Records heavy hitter HARDY— crowned “Nashville’s nü-metal king” by the Los Angeles Times — is set to release his first ever full album rock project, QUIT!! , on July 12. The long-awaited LP features singles “ROCKSTAR,” currently climbing at rock radio, “PSYCHO” and title track “QUIT!!”

HARDY soared to new heights in 2023 with the release of his critically acclaimed half-country, half-rock sophomore album the mockingbird & THE CROW, adding to 4.6 billion career streams. The 17-track effort debuted top five all-genre on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and topped seven additional Billboard charts in its first week, including Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Album Sales.

The pride of Philadelphia, Mississippi has earned his reputation as “a promising purveyor of keeping the spirit of classic heavy Southern rock alive” (American Songwriter), “capable of writing the big hits for radio, obstinate enough to do something completely unexpected, and savvy enough to find the throughline for it all” (Rolling Stone). A five-time ACM award winner and two-time CMA award winner, HARDY has also won three CMA Triple Play awards, was named the 2022 BMI Country Songwriter of the Year and is a three-time AIMP Songwriter of the Year. Lainey Wilson and first-ever rock radio #1 “JACK.” He’s previously toured with Thomas Rhett, Morgan Wallen , Florida Georgia Line , Jason Aldean , Cole Swindell and more.

ABOUT JAMESON RODGERS

Jameson Rodgers made his name on the road. The hard-touring upstart has spent nearly a decade honing his rowdy live show, whether he’s headlining his own electric sets or opening for the likes of Luke Combs, Florida Georgia Line, Darius Rucker, Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan and many more. A  MusicRow  Discovery Artist of the Year winner and iHeartRadio Music Awards nominee, Rodgers immortalized his live show on his latest project  Live from Oxford, MS , recorded at a sold-out show at The Oxford Theatre. Featuring early career standouts like “Midnight Daydream” plus his back-to-back, platinum-certified No. 1 hits “Some Girls” and follow-up smash “Cold Beer Calling My Name,” (originally featuring label mate Combs), the collection captures the raucous atmosphere that has become Rodgers’ calling card. Named to breakthrough artist programs including CMA KixStart and Opry NextStage, Rodgers released his debut album  Bet You’re From A Small Town  in 2021, and recently offered his first taste of new music with the reflective “Things That Matter.” Also an in-demand songwriter, the country traditionalist has co-penned multi-platinum hits for Florida Georgia Line (Top 10 single “Talk You Out of It”) and Chris Lane (No. 1 smash “I Don’t Know About You”), plus deep cuts for Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Jon Pardi, and more.

ABOUT BLAME MY YOUTH

Sean Van Vleet has played the biggest of stages (Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Late Show, etc.), went on tour with massive acts (Death Cab for Cutie, Alkaline Trio, Deerhunter, etc.) and worked on songs that appeared in major TV shows, video games, and commercials. So it’s no surprise that as soon as Van Vleet formed Blame My Youth, the rocking quartet immediately saw their first single, “Right Where You Belong,” land as the closing credits theme on the GRAMMY-nominated soundtrack of  Bill & Ted Face the Music , and their follow-up, “Fantastic,” picking up millions of streams and hitting the top 30 on the Active Rock radio charts. After a trio of Danny Wimmer Presents festival appearances announcing their arrival as a band last fall, Blame My Youth spent the summer of 2022 touring across the UK and the US. With their debut  Dance With My Demons  EP, the band continues to work with chart-topping producer Joey Moi and craft the infectious rock songs that spark in the vocalist’s ever-running mind. This collection brings with it the rambunctious singalong tunes Blame My Youth is becoming known for, showcasing a rebellious mix of Van Vleet’s complex emotional lyricism and unforgettable hooks, with each track further solidifying why many believe the band is set to be one of 2023’s breakout artists.

Hardy Uniting Rock + Country Stars on 2023 Tour, Debuts Grungy New Song ‘Truck Bed’

Already a favorite of country fans, Hardy is starting to make inroads with the rock community as well. As he prepares for the more rock leaning the Mockingbird & THE CROW sophomore set, he's also set to step out on the road in early 2023 to support the forthcoming release. And he's just released a new song called "Truck Bed" that perfectly brings the worlds of country and hard rock together.

The tour will find Hardy supported by country chart-topper Jameson Rodgers and rock newcomers Blame My Youth , further integrating the two sides to his sound together.

“I'm incredibly grateful to be able to bring this record to you next year. Touring it is something I've been thinking about since we started the recording process,” Hardy says. “This album is my best work so far. I truly believe that, and I want this tour to reflect that every night. Excited to have my buddies Blame My Youth and Jameson out with me; it's going to be crazy."

The 16-date headline tour will kick off Feb. 16 in Indianapolis, with shows booked into late April. See all of the cities, dates and venues listed below.

Tickets for the run will go on sale this Friday (Oct. 14) at 10AM local time, with exclusive fan pre-sales starting tomorrow (Oct. 12) and running throughout the week. Head here to purchase your tickets.

As for the mockingbird & THE CROW album, it's on target for a Jan. 20 release through Big Loud Records. Having already hit with "Wait in the Truck" featuring special guest Lainey Wilson, Hardy just released a trio of new songs including the album's title track, "here lies country music" and the more rock-leaning "Truck Bed," which can be heard in the player below. While the song leans into a bit of country aesthetic lyrically, toward the end of the track it is a full-fledged guitar rocker. Pre-orders for the new album are available here .

HARDY 2023 Concert Tour Setlist

By Maxim Mower

Taken from HARDY's show at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ on July 19 2023

Start Time: 7:15pm

  • KILL SH!T TILL I DIE
  • UNAPOLOGETICALLY COUNTRY AS HELL
  • wait in the truck
  • GIVE HEAVEN SOME HELL
  • God's Country (cover of Blake Shelton)
  • the mockingbird & THE CROW

HARDY recently kicked off his 2023 US tour in support of his good buddy and frequent collaborator, Morgan Wallen .

Judging from his setlist so far, he's been incorporating plenty of tracks from the new album, the mockingbird & THE CROW , into his live shows - particularly those from the rock half of the project.

Here you can find HARDY's updated setlist as he embarks on his 2023 concert tour.

HARDY has become notorious for the riotous atmosphere he instigates in his live shows. From the outset, he sends a fizz of electricity surging through the crowd with part-screamed renditions of ‘SOLD OUT’, ‘JACK’ and ‘BOOTS’.

Later on in his 2023 shows, the country-rock titan has been giving the audience a breather as he performs a special rendition of his much-loved HIXTAPE ballad, ‘ONE BEER’.

Fans will be excited to see that HARDY has been performing one of his earliest songs, ‘REDNECKER’, as part of his 2023 set.

During this final part of the show, the chart-topping singer-songwriter has also been covering Blake Shelton's anthemic track, ‘God's Country’, which was written by HARDY.

As is also the case with his discography, championing his country roots is a key theme throughout HARDY's set, with rowdy, down-home celebrations such as ‘UNAPOLOGETICALLY COUNTRY AS HELL’ and ‘KILL SH!T TILL I DIE’ all featuring during his 2023 live shows.

Unsurprisingly, HARDY's ominous Lainey Wilson collaboration, ‘wait in the truck’, makes its way into his setlist. The dark, haunting song recently won the 2023 CMT Collaborative Video of the Year award .

The duo have performed the single live on a number of occasions over the course of the past six months, most recently on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon .

QUIT!! tour with Kip Moore, Travis Denning and Stephen Wilson Jr.

DATE : May 30, 2024

TIMES : Gates open at 5:15pm. Music starts at 6:45pm

ON SALE : Friday, Jan. 19 @ 10am

Celebrating the kind of little Southern towns he calls home,  HARDY  is rooted in down-and-dirty country and arena rock. On his first two EPs for Big Loud -- 2018's  This Ole Boy  and the next year's  Where to Find Me  – and his 2020 full-length debut,  A Rock , he mined this macho blend without succumbing to the amiable swagger of bro-country or the stylish country-R&B fashions of the late 2010s. Separate from his recording career, HARDY worked as a songwriter, scoring a hit with "Up Down," a single from Morgan Wallen featuring Florida Georgia Line, which led that superstar duo to collaborate with him on their 2018 hit "Simple." Hardy returned to both the rock and country charts in 2022 when "Sold Out" reached the former and "Wait in the Truck" appeared on the latter. Hardy melded these two aspects of his musical personality on  The Mockingbird & the Crow , a double album released in 2023. –  AllMusic.com

Country singer Hardy treated for 'significant injuries' after tour bus flips over

Jason Aldean's Back In The Saddle Tour - Atlanta, GA

Country singer and songwriter Hardy was hospitalized with "significant injuries" after his tour bus flipped over following a performance in Bristol, Tennessee, on Saturday, he tweeted Sunday.

The singer, whose full name is Michael Wilson Hardy, was released from the hospital and is expected to recover, but the bus driver remains hospitalized, Hardy said in the tweet, adding that four people were on board at the time of the accident, all of whom were treated for "significant injuries."

A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the driver as James Hudson, 59, and the passengers as Noah Brown, 36, and Tanner Gallagher, 32. Hudson was wearing a seat belt, according to the report, which said that none of the passengers were.

"Our friend, and bus driver needs your prayers as he is still in the hospital," Hardy tweeted of Hudson. "His family is with him while he is being treated and we're all pulling and praying for him."

"I've been released from the hospital, but ordered by doctors to recover for the next few weeks which may cost us at a couple of shows," he continued. "My team and I will keep the fans updated on that as I rest in the coming days."

The conditions of Brown and Gallagher were not immediately clear.

The bus veered off the right of Interstate 40 and flipped over onto its left side, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

Hardy had performed at the Country Thunder Music Festival in Bristol, a city about 300 miles east of Nashville, on Saturday night, according to the festival's website.

He is scheduled to perform Saturday in Arlington, Texas, on fellow country singer Morgan Wallen's tour, according to Hardy's website .It is unclear whether the performance will go on.

Hardy was named songwriter of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards this year. His third and most recent album, "Hixtape: Vol. 2," was released last year.

The Country Thunder festival's Twitter account posted a message of support for Hardy and his team.

"HARDY and his crew have become close members of our festival family, and we are praying for full recoveries for everyone involved in last night’s accident," the tweet read .

Bristol Motor Speedway, the venue that hosted the festival, also tweeted a message of support: "Please keep our friends HARDY and his road crew in your thoughts and prayers for a full and swift recovery."

Hardy concluded his tweet by praising the authorities who responded to the scene.

"God bless our medics and local and state officials for their quick response and incredible service," he wrote.

The Untold Truth Of HARDY

HARDY smiling on a red carpet

HARDY, whose real name is Michael Wilson Hardy, may have started his career behind the scenes as a songwriter for other artists like Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line, but these days he's taking the country music world by storm with his own work. He launched two EPs in 2018 and 2019, as well as "Hixtape Vol. 1," which  featured several collaborations with big names like of Keith Urban and Trace Adkins, all while he was writing hit songs for other country singers and working on his debut studio album.

Since the 2020 release of "A Rock," and his hit single " One Beer ," which went to No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart , it's clear HARDY has made a name for himself as a star on the rise. He was even nominated for the CMA Award for new artist of the year in 2021. It probably helps that the musician surrounds himself with inspiring people, including his fiancée, Caleigh Ryan, and close friends like fellow country singer Morgan Wallen. Yet for HARDY, as he told The Boot , "At the end of the day, I'm a pretty normal person." He added, "I grew up in and lived a very normal life. I really want that to be expressed in my music, the stuff that I grew up doing and loved."

While HARDY may think he's an average Joe, he's definitely lived an exciting life so far. So, let's get to know the untold truth of this country singer-songwriter.

HARDY was 'obsessed with music' as a kid

HARDY had been quite literally dreaming of stardom from a young age. He revealed to Forbes , "I would lay in bed when I was a little kid and I would imagine singing to help me go to sleep." The country musician added, "I would picture myself being a singer and singing songs that I had written." But it was actually HARDY's sister who was the musician in the family. He dished to One Country, "She won all these contests ... and so that was just kind of her thing. I just kind of never assumed that it was my thing, but I was obsessed with music."

The "One Beer" singer credits his dad for that love of music. Recalling how "some of my earliest memories are me listening to music with him," HARDY explained how this eventually led to him writing his own songs during his senior year of high school. "I guess all of that just kind of stuck with me," he added. It was also perhaps because by age 17, HARDY had a new motivation. Admitting to Billboard  that he wrote his first song "to impress a girl," he noted, "If it wasn't for her, I would've never known there was a whole industry behind [songwriting]."

From there, HARDY wanted to pursue songwriting for more than just a date. "I learned there were more songwriters than there were artists on the radio," he said.

This country star has a degree in songwriting

It appears that HARDY took his music aspirations very seriously, since he decided to earn a degree in songwriting at Middle Tennessee State University. According to The Boot , the "A Rock" singer joked, "I say 'commercial songwriting,' and half the people think I'm writing Hot Pockets jingles!" However, he added, "I think it's a cool thing to share with people ... that maybe wanna write songs or learn about it, to know that there's a whole industry and, obviously, college majors based around it."

It was because of a memorable trip to see his sister that HARDY ended up in Nashville. Recalling to All Access , "I didn't realize how much music was literally everywhere up there," he vowed to return to Music City — and it's a good thing, too, since HARDY found himself in the right place to start his career. As the musician explained to Songwriter Universe , "My goal was to sign a music publishing deal. ...You write a song and do whatever you want with your time. I got used to that for a few years. "

It seems that for HARDY, songwriting just fit, as he told CMT  how he felt "really fortunate" that it "came naturally" to him from an early age. He eventually realized that he didn't just want to write the songs, he also wanted to sing them, but added, "It definitely took me a little bit to figure out I could actually learn how to sing."

How Florida Georgia Line helped HARDY's career

HARDY may have gotten himself a publishing deal when he moved to Nashville, but it seems that it was meeting  Florida Georgia Line that really helped launch his career. Speaking with One Country, HARDY revealed that he met the musical duo back in 2012, the year their hit song "Cruise" dropped, at a "parking lot party" held by Big Loud Records. "We kind of hit it off," he said. "I got [singer Tyler Hubbard's] number."

But things didn't really take off until a few years later. "I was writing songs in town and they reached back out to me and were like, 'Hey, we remember you.' Tyler especially was like ... 'I've got my eye on you,'" HARDY recalled to All Access . "... After that, they had me out to write a couple songs with them on tour and we reconnected." A couple songs eventually led to more, with HARDY saying, "They pretty much had me out for two full tours ... just writing." Despite his success as their songwriter, HARDY was able to still pursue his dream as a solo performer in his own right with the band's support, adding, "They had me sing on 'Y'all Boys,' which is really cool."

Between writing and recording with Florida Georgia Line, HARDY knew his star was rising. He revealed to Forbes , "There was a moment in the summer [of 2020] where everything just started happening and I started getting cuts left and right. I think that's when I knew that I was going to be all right."

The road to HARDY's debut album

It's hard to believe that HARDY almost didn't pursue a career as a country singer. He explained to Entertainment Focus , "When I finished college, I wanted to be an artist and then I signed a publishing deal, and I realized that was way easier than trying to do an artist thing by yourself." He admitted that he "put it on the back burner for a really long time," and eventually "jumped right in" to pursuing a solo career with the support of those around him, including Florida Georgia Line, producer Joey Moi, and Big Loud Records.

HARDY went on to release extended plays and his first "Hixtape" with country artists he had written with, but by 2020, he was ready to release a "real" album. He told Country Now  how that was different in that it's "a little deeper," adding, "Some things I wanna talk about that aren't really a party." That year, HARDY released his debut album "A Rock," telling People , "I think without me knowing it, I was writing towards this record. The songs that I'm putting out are a result of writing for 10 years."

Yet, while HARDY may have said that he was "really relieved that my first ever solo record was so easy to put together," he did release it during the COVID-19 pandemic. But the singer saw it as a positive, explaining at the time, "I think people are listening to music now more than ever, because they don't really have much else to do."

HARDY is engaged

It's safe to assume that being in love himself helps HARDY write love songs . It also probably helps that his partner, Caleigh Ryan, knows how to inspire him. He told People how she basically came up with the idea for his song "Boyfriend" during an argument. "I said something like, 'Fine, I don't want to be your boyfriend anymore.' She said something along the lines of, 'It better be because you want to be my husband' with a wink." He added, "Instead of turning that into a really sweet moment, I said, 'This is a great song!'"

Ryan didn't seem to mind. Even though HARDY admitted that "she's my biggest critic" and isn't one "to hold back," she thankfully "thought we nailed it" when she heard the tune. In August 2021, HARDY followed through on that notion by proposing to Ryan — and even gave a nod to "Boyfriend" in his engagement announcement. Sharing a photo of the couple on Instagram , he wrote alongside a red heart emoji in the caption, "I'm not her boyfriend anymore."

For her part, Ryan shared a sweet snapshot  of the two kissing outside The Lyric Theater in Oxford, Mississippi to announce their impending nuptials. It turns out that the venue was an integral part of HARDY's proposal. He later revealed (via Music Mayhem ), "That's where she and I met around four years ago. ...I wanted to do it exactly in the spot that we met." The country hitmaker added, "It really all worked out perfectly."

This singer-songwriter tours a lot

It appears from his Instagram  feed that HARDY spends a good portion of his time on tour, which is a good thing for his fans. One told Zanesville, Ohio's  Times Recorder , "You're out with the boys drinking beer and having a hell of a time — and that's what he writes about ... and that's why we like him." Another fan said he's able to connect with HARDY since, "He's a songwriter first. ...I know he's a guy who didn't mean to get famous and huge, but his talent brought him here."

HARDY's basically been touring since he first hit the road with the Florida Georgia Line. The "Truck" singer recalled a particular fun moment from his time with them following a performance of "Y'all Boys" to All Access : "One night, I'm walking off stage and BK [singer-guitarist Brian Kelley] was just like, 'Hey HARDY, why don't you shotgun a beer?' ... I'm just standing there with a beer in the middle of the stage." HARDY at one point even toured with his good friend, Morgan Wallen, which helped get his music on the radio. He dished, "We did radio every city stop on Morgan's tour, which was, like, 40 shows. ...I would go the station and hang and do the thing."

In 2021, HARDY joined the " Back in the Saddle Tour " headlined by Jason Aldean, and he often posts  photos from the road, especially those of him performing for large audiences. In one post, HARDY gushed in the caption , "So many emotions ... gonna keep it short just say thank you all for showing up and showing out."

HARDY has big-name friends in country music

HARDY clearly has a lot of impressive contacts in country music, partially thanks to his songwriting skills. According to All Access , HARDY wrote Blake Shelton's "God's Country," LOCASH's "One Big Country Song," and Florida Georgia Line's "Talk You Out Of It," to just name a few. Those charted for the artists, which made HARDY the reliable guy for a hit single. He admitted, "It's something that I've wanted to be, but it is definitely surreal that it's actually happening."

Yet, it seems that HARDY's songwriting actually led to real friendships with some country stars. He told Country Now , "People like Morgan [Wallen] and Thomas Rhett ... [I] quickly learned that those people were like [me], and [I] could actually be friends with this person." These collaborations in the "writing room" have even created a bond with those he admires. "I am a huge fan of Blake," he gushed, adding, "To hear him or anybody else say that [a song I wrote] rejuvenated his career ... is just absolutely insane to me."

HARDY jokingly acknowledged to ABC Radio Online that some may refer to his friendships with Wallen and the guys from Florida Georgia Line as "a fraternity," but noted that there's "this unspoken brotherhood" and "camaraderie" they share. "We're on this new label, and everybody is just in it together," he added. "... It's like a little family."

That time HARDY defended pal Morgan Wallen

HARDY clearly has a special bond with his  fellow albeit controversial country star pal, Morgan Wallen . Not only did the "Give Heaven Some Hell" singer tell All Access , "Me and Morgan [Wallen] are like brothers," but he also told ABC Radio Online that after going on tour together, "Morgan's one of my best friends in the whole world."

The country hitmaker also made it a point to defend Wallen after he was caught on camera using racial slurs. During an interview with  Holler , HARDY said, "People make mistakes. I have friends that make mistakes all the time, but they don't have three million followers on Instagram." He continued, "If you truly love someone, you gotta be there for that person and support them."

And that's what HARDY appears to be doing. He even expressed his disappointment with the Country Music Association when they decided to exclude Wallen from the 2021 CMA Awards even though he was nominated in some categories, saying (via Music Mayhem ) that "it sucks" and arguing his famous pal "should at least be invited." Still, HARDY felt optimistic about Wallen's ability to move forward from his controversial past, saying that it may "take a little time," but adding, "He is taking every action he can to rekindle his relationship with the people who chose to excommunicate him."

How much is this country musician worth?

HARDY is obviously making the big bucks these days, but the "Boots" singer has been working hard for a long time, writing song after song for country artists since he was signed to a publishing deal in 2014. While HARDY became one of the most sought after songwriters in the business, he seemingly brought in even more cash as a performer himself, especially after the release of his popular song, "One Beer." At the time, he told People , "I'm honestly shocked at how well radio's working with us on 'One Beer.'"

Between HARDY's booming songwriter career and then a successful debut album of his own, as well as money he's made from touring and endorsements , it makes sense that Net Worth List reports his net worth was about $15 million in 2020. For HARDY, though, failure was apparently never an option. "Even the times when I have negative dollars in my bank account, I always say, 'One day it's not going to be like this,'" he explained to People. "It's something that I live by every day and it's working so far."

So, what is HARDY spending all that money on? One big purchase he made in 2021 was an engagement ring for his fiancée, Caleigh Ryan. The Mississippi native revealed about a year before their engagement, "I told her the longer she waits, the bigger the ring." From the looks of her Instagram , Ryan was seemingly pleased with what he was able to afford.

HARDY didn't always love country music

HARDY writes and performs country music, but fans may be surprised that doesn't necessarily reflect his own musical taste. He told All Access , "I did not grow up listening to country music at all. I honestly couldn't stand it back in the day. I don't know why, but I just didn't like it." He specified that he was more of rocker, saying, "I grew up listening to Rock 'n' Roll, Classic Rock, and Grunge. From, like, 5 years old, that was my thing."

Yet, there was one country singer in particular that HARDY was a fan of: Brad Paisley. He told The Boot , "Early on, I really loved ... how he pushed forward some of his lines, how [things could be both] funny and serious." HARDY added how Paisley inspired his own writing, saying, "I try to pull from appreciating good lyrics." Outside of musical artists, HARDY told All Access, "My biggest [inspiration] is staying connected with where I came from emotionally. I try to go home every now and then, and I call my buddies to see what's going on." He pointed out, "All of the country influence that I have came from life, not music."

While HARDY has several country hits under his belt, he did admit to  American Songwriter that there are some rock songs he wishes he'd written, namely Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" and "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. It seems HARDY's musical tastes now have range, which is probably a good thing for a songwriter.

He knows how to have fun

HARDY may be busy writing songs and performing on tour, but he also makes sure to include time to have some fun. If his  Instagram  account is anything to go by, he often does that by golfing. The Mississippi native has shared multiple photos from the golf course, as well as some videos of him hitting golfs balls or playing alongside  fiancée Caleigh Ryan and their friends. Apparently, he's quite good, considering he once shared a video of himself getting a hole in one.

Outside of golfing, HARDY frequently posts about fishing , suggesting that's another way he likes to spend his free time. The singer shared a snapshot of himself on a boat  out on a river, as well as others  showing off big fish he's caught or of himself cutting up their catch to eat. During an interview with  All Access , HARDY revealed how some of his country star friends even get involved, saying, "Jake Owen, we go fishing all the time and just goof around out at his place."

Speaking of goofing around, HARDY appears to enjoy doing that, as well. He's posted photos of himself shotgunning a beer on stage, shooting off a beer-filled water gun  at his audience, and tattooing his dad , making it clear that the country singer-songwriter really is about having a good time. From watching a football game, to being ringside at a UFC fight, to just partying with friends, HARDY is apparently living his best life on and off the stage.

HARDY has his own style

You may have noticed that HARDY doesn't necessarily look like your average country star. He does have his own style that's more hipster and punk, as well as completely devoid of cowboy hats, but the "Unapologetically Country" singer revealed not everyone was always cool about it, telling All Access , "I think right at the very, very beginning I might have had a couple people tell me that my style was a little wack, but I just didn't listen to them." For HARDY, he's just being himself. He explained, "I have my style and it's weird, but it is what it is. I've always worn whatever the hell I wanted."

Some would even say that HARDY's glasses are now pretty iconic. But he dished to Taste of Country that they're more for function over style, saying he first "got glasses in middle school," before switching over to contacts during high school and adding, "But I ended up hating them." HARDY also has tattoos, but those, too, are about more than just for aesthetic.

Speaking to All Access about one ink specifically, he said, "I have this really cool county fair where I grew up called the Neshoba County Fair. ...My tattoo is the wristband to get into the fair." HARDY added, "It's just kind of a 'remember where you came from' thing. It's one of my favorite things ever, so I wanted it on me forever."

Inside HARDY's favorite writing session

HARDY has written several country songs with different artists, but it was creating "The Worst Country Song of All Time," in particular, that he basically said was his favorite. HARDY wrote and recorded the single with Brantley Gilbert and country legend Toby Keith. Gilbert recalled how HARDY came up with the idea as "a big joke," but told The Boot , "Before we knew it, we were writing it." HARDY chimed in, revealing, "I said, 'Look, I've got this stupid idea, but what if we wrote 'The Worst Country Song of All Time' and make everything about it just the most repulsive-to-a-country-music-fan stuff ever?"

It seems that finding those "repulsive" things proved to be a good time, especially for HARDY. He gushed, "It was truly one of the most fun writing sessions I've ever had. ... It was just a pleasure, and I'm so happy that Brantley had me on it." Of course, such a silly song needed a funny music video to go along with it, which HARDY, Gilbert, and Keith were all able to pull off. They released it as "The Worst Country Music Video of All Time." As Gilbert told Taste of Country , "It really started as a goofy idea that we were having fun with, and we've been glad to bring a laugh to folks."

HARDY is clearly one artist who's able to bring all sorts of emotions to his fans through his music, and what's not to love about that?

Heart classics sound fresh in Rocksino show

The rock band Heart, known for such classic rock staples as “Barracuda,” “Magic Man,” and “Crazy on You,” announced it has had to cancel several of its summer European tour dates so that lead singer Ann Wilson can recover from a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure.”

In a statement posted on social media , the band said, “We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe are canceled. In late May, Ann Wilson will undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks. Heart deeply regrets this unfortunate circumstance and hopes to return to Europe soon. Refunds will be available at point of purchase as applicable.”

Wilson also shared the news on her personal Facebook page , adding, “I’m okay! Please don’t worry. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It’s certainly an inconvenience for me.”

The band is still scheduled to bring its Royal Flush Tour to the Allentown Fair on Aug. 28 along with Cheap Trick — the tour date remains on Heart’s official website .

Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, has sold over 35 million albums and has had 20 Top 40 singles.

Rady Shell’s 2024 summer concert season boasts four Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and rising stars alike

The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park

This summer’s lineup includes everyone from Norah Jones, Stray Cats and Trombone Shorty to Los Lobos, Gary Clark Jr., and a Gilbert Castellanos-led Miles Davis tribute

Having performed at the Hollywood Bowl, London’s Royal Albert Hall and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, English singer-songwriter KT Tunstall is no stranger to iconic concert venues. But the Grammy Award-nominated troubadour was clearly impressed when she took the stage at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park earlier this month on a double-bill with Roger Daltrey of The Who.

“I feel like The Shell is the venue all the other venues are jealous of!” Tunstall told the audience. “It’s like the Hollywood Bowl, except the Hollywood Bowl doesn’t have the ocean right next to it.”

That is an undeniable fact. So is the comparative intimacy of The Shell, which opened in 2021 as the outdoor home of the San Diego Symphony. It has a capacity of 4,500 for most of its concerts. That’s less than a quarter the capacity of the landlocked, nearly 18,000-seat Hollywood Bowl, which opened in 1922.

What The Shell does have in common with the Hollywood Bowl is that some of the same artists will perform at both venues this summer, including Sara MacLachlan, Gary Clark Jr., Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Pink Martini and Harry Connick Jr. At least four of this year’s Shell acts — Mavis Staples, John Fogerty, The Beach Boys and Kool & The Gang — are Rock & Roll Hall of Famers.

They will all enjoy an eye-popping view. The Shell is situated directly in between San Diego Bay and the Marriott Marina. Performers on stage face the bay, the Coronado Bridge, North Island and beyond.

“On clear days, you can see all the way into Mexico,” said San Diego Symphony Music Director Rafael Payare.

“It is a really special place to perform,” agreed San Diego native Chris Thile, who has played at The Shell with both Nickel Creek and the Yo-Yo Ma-led group Goat Rodeo.

As of this writing, 40 nights of music are scheduled to be presented at The Shell between Saturday and Sept. 21. Five more concerts will follow in October and November, including performances by The Avett Brothers, Australia’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Porter Robinson and the annual “Experience Hendrix” tour honoring electric-guitar icon Jimi Hendrix.

Here is a look at a baker’s dozen likely summer highlights at The Shell. The full Shell schedule and ticket information is available at theshell.org .

Kool & The Gang, Barclays Arena, December 9, 2022 in Hamburg, Germany.

Kool & The Gang, with Sister Sledge and DJ Prince Hakim

Expect an extra celebratory performance by Kool & The Gang, which is taking a victory lap prior to its Oct. 19 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The veteran funk, soul, disco and beyond ensemble released its debut album in 1969 and has been eligible for induction since 1994, but never even made the ballot until this year. That makes its upcoming induction worth cheering — at last! — and jeering (what took the hall so inexcusably long?).

Kool & The Gang, which started off in 1964 as The Jazziacs, is still led by bassist Robert “Kool” Bell. Its lineup also boasts longtime trumpet standout Michael Ray, a former member of the Sun Ra Arkestra. And with a repertoire includes such favorites as “Jungle Boogie,” “Hollywood Swinging,” “Ladies Night” and “Celebration,” a dance-filled romp is easy to predict. 7 p.m. June 21. $53-$120.

Audra McDonald at The James Earl Jones Theater on December 8, 2022 in New York City

An Evening with Audra McDonald, featuring the San Diego Symphony, conducted by Andy Einhorn

Actress and Broadway vocal star Audra McDonald has won six Tony Awards — more than any other artist. She is also the only performer to win Tonys in all four acting categories: musical, drama, leading role and supporting role.

Blessed with a glorious soprano and the ability to make any song her own, McDonald shines equally bright whether singing musical theater favorites, bluesy laments, Tin Pan Alley chestnuts or jazz standards that sound anything but standard in her gifted hands. She also provides fascinating historical anecdotes about some of her selections that provide a welcome sense of musical and historical context. 7:30 p.m. June 30. $24-$104.

Ziggy Marley May 20, 2021, at Petco Park

Ziggy Marley, with The San Diego Symphony

The oldest son of reggae-music icon Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley has performed twice at The Shell with his band. This time around, he and his group will be accompanied by the San Diego Symphony for the first half of this two-part concert.

The Jamaican native’s 2017 orchestral gig at the Hollywood Bowl mixed some of his songs with newly arranged versions of such Bob Marley classics as “Get Up Stand Up,” “One Love” and “Exodus.” Will any symphony members be inspired to do the skank, the gully creepa or any other reggae dance moves? We’ll see. 7:30 p.m. July 5. $33-$140.

Harry Connick Jr. brings his "A Holiday Celebration" show to San Diego Civic Theatre Dec. 11, 2022.

Harry Connick Jr.

Is it a stretch for debonair jazz, big band, Dixieland and pop crooner and pianist Harry Connick Jr. to play a brooding, tattooed rock star? We’ll find out when “Find Me Falling,” the new rom-com film he stars in, debuts July 19 on Netflix.

In the meantime, triple Grammy-winner Connick and his band will perform at The Shell following a three-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Given that the New Orleans native’s performance here will be orchestra-free, you can expect it to be a more swinging and freewheeling affair. San Diego is one of only six cities Connick is scheduled to perform in this summer. 7:30 p.m. July 6. $46-$225.

Jewel performs before the NBA basketball All-Star game Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, in Salt Lake City.

Jewel and Melissa Etheridge

This should be a doubly intriguing evening of music.

On the one hand, it will be a welcome homecoming concert for Jewel. The Alaska-born troubadour kicked off her career singing in coffeehouses in Poway and Pacific Beach more than 30 years ago. Her 1995 debut album, “Pieces of You,” sold 12 million copies in the U.S. alone, making it one of the best-selling maiden voyages on record by any artist in any genre. She has made 14 albums since then, the most recent of which — 2022’s “Freewheelin’ Woman” — is the most pop-savvy to date that showcases her broad vocal range.

On the other hand, blues-rock powerhouse Melissa Etheridge is a take-no-prisoners performer. And, as she demonstrated in February at the all-star Grammy Awards MusiCares concert honoring Jon Bon Jovi, she relishes the opportunity to steal any show. 7:30 p.m. July 23. $46-$225.

Brian Setzer of The Stray Cats performs on stage at O2 Academy Birmingham, June 23 2019

The Stray Cats

Talk about a full-circle moment! The Stray Cats have not toured since 2019, when they wrapped up an international concert trek with two sold-out San Diego shows at Humphreys. The rockabilly-fueled trio recorded a live album on that tour, “Rocked This Town: From L.A. to London.” It was released in 2020 by Encinitas-based Surfdog Records, the same label that has put out more than a dozen albums by Stray Cats’ singer/guitarist Brian Setzer.

In July, the now-45-year-old band will hit the road again and San Diego is the fifth stop on its tour. If there is a cure for the summertime blues — to invoke the rollicking 1958 Eddie Cochran song Stray Cats sometimes perform as their final encore — expect a strong dose of it at this show. 7 p.m. Aug. 3. $67 to $449.

Los Lobos at Plaza de la Raza on Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Los Angeles, CA.

Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys and Son Rompe Pera

Now in its 51st year, Los Lobos has created a musical legacy few others can match. On record and in concert, this East L.A.-bred band celebrates rootsy American and Latin music with skill, verve and innate soulfulness. Whether performing rock, blues, boleros, country, rockabilly, cumbias, country, ranchera romps and edgy elegies, Los Lobos shines in any stylistic setting.

The group’s pop stardom has been fleeting. Its 1987 version of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” — which became the first Spanish-language song to top the national U.S. Billboard Top 40 record charts — is Los Lobos’ only hit single to date. But the band’s devotion to making music that matters has remained unwavering.

Seeing them headline a concert with Los Lonely Boys, a Texas trio whose members were greatly inspired by Los Lobos, is a nice touch. So is the inclusion of Son Rompe Pera, the Mexico City band that uses a marimba as its lead instrument while fusing Colombian cumbia music with punk, garage-rock and Jamaican ska. Aug. 4: 7 p.m., $24-$104.

Norah Jones at Kings Cross railroad station in London, March 13, 2024

Norah Jones, with Mavis Staples

It’s been 22 years since the release of Texas-bred singer, songwriter and pianist Norah Jones’ debut album, “Come Away With Me.” It has since sold a staggering 27 million copies worldwide, while her subsequent releases have sold an additional 23 million copies.

That’s an especially impressive feat for an understated balladeer whose nuanced music expertly draws from jazz, country, pop and various points in between. Jones’ versatility has enabled her to duet with everyone from Willie Nelson, Wynton Marsalis and Foo Fighters to Wayne Shorter, Tony Bennett and Keith Richards. With any luck, her return to The Shell — where she first performed in 2022 — will include her version of “The Long Way Home” by former San Diegan Tom Waits.

Opening Jones’ concert here is gospel-music great Mavis Staples, who — by coincidence — in 2017 was joined by Waits at her Petaluma concert for a vocal duet on the 1971 Staple Singers gem, “Respect Yourself.” She was the headliner at last month’s 3½-hour “Mavis Staples 85th: All-Star Birthday Concert,” which also featured such admirers as Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton, Taj Mahal, Trombone Shorty, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, and ... Norah Jones. As Staples’ rousing performance at The Shell last year vividly demonstrated, she does not have the slightest intention of going quietly into any good night. 7 p.m. Aug. 6. $54.

Jason Mraz performs at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday, May 6.

Jason Mraz, with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sean O’Loughlin

This multiple Grammy Award-winning Oceanside singer-songwriter has performed at least three previous times at The Shell, including a free, tour-ending concert last year with his brassy Superband, and a free unplugged performance with fellow San Diego musician and longtime pal Gregory Page.

Fresh from his stint last year on “Dancing with the Stars,” Mraz performed two benefit concerts in February with — and on behalf of — an array of area nonprofit arts groups at California Center for the Arts, Escondido. His most recent album, 2023’s “The Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride,” features Mraz pursuing a more dance-oriented style that nods to such musical inspirations as Michael Jackson, Chic, Donna Summer and the Bee Gees in their 1970s disco prime. How these propulsive songs will work with an orchestra remains to be seen, but chances are better than good that Mraz will bust a move or two on stage. 7:30 p,.m. Aug. 11. $46-$225.

Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos

Gilbert Castellanos performs Miles Davis’ ‘Kind of Blue,’ featuring Joel Frahm, Donald Vega, Willie Jones III, Danton Boller and James Mahone

The best-selling jazz album in history — and one of the most groundbreaking and revered — Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” hasn’t aged a day since its release in 1959. A landmark work that launched the modal jazz movement, it has inspired countless jazz artists, along with the Allman Brothers Band, John Legend, Fine Young Cannibals and Pink Floyd, whose 1973 song “Breathe” was specifically influenced by “Kind of Blue.”

Paying tribute on stage to an album that features such legendary musicians as Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly and Bill Evans is a formidable task. But if anyone is up for the challenge, it’s top trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, who is the San Diego Symphony’s jazz curator and the founder of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory. 7:30 p.m. Aug 17. $21-$78.

Gary Clark Jr., April 28, 2024, in Houston.

Gary Clark Jr.

Returning to The Shell for the first time since his electrifying 2021 debut at the venue, Gary Clark Jr. has evolved considerably since then. While his blues-drenched guitar work and soulful singing are still key elements, the music featured on his latest album, this year’s “JPEG RAW,” draws equally from hip-hop, rock, vintage soul, funk and electronically processed pop, with elements of jazz, West African chants and country providing extra textures.

The album features such guest artists as Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, Valerie June, Ghanaian singer-producer Naala, rising trumpeter Keyon Harrold and more. It’s an ambitious work that may present some challenges to fully realize on a concert stage without those guests. If anyone is up for such a challenge, it’s Texas native Clark, who played the role of blues pioneer Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup in Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar-nominated film, “Elvis.” 7 p.m. Aug. 24. $33-$140.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty at the 2021 "A Grammy Salute To The Sounds of Change" concert.

John Fogerty, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, with Hearty Har

Creedence Clearwater Revival mastermind and veteran solo star John Fogerty turned 78 on Tuesday. He is celebrating with a 40-concert summer tour that traverses the U.S. and also includes half a dozen shows in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. His band features his sons, Tyler and Shane, who will open each show with their own group, Hearty Har.

If Fogerty performs with extra bounce in his step and eve more fire this time around, there’s a very sound reason. After a more than five-decade-long legal battle, he last year finally acquired a majority interest in the global publishing rights to the trove of Creedence songs he wrote and recorded with the band in the 1960s and 1970s, including “Proud Mary,” “Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?”

Last year also saw the belated release of a Creedence live album recorded in 1970 at London’s Royal Albert Hall, along with an accompanying film documentary narrated by Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges. Not coincidentally, The Dude — Bridges’ lead character in the Coen Brothers’ 1988 film hit, “The Big Lebowski” — was a major Creedence fan. 7 p.m. Sept. 4. $85-$253.

Trombone Shorty, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival May 5, 2024

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, with Big Boi

This will be the third consecutive year New Orleans music dynamo Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and his rollicking band have performed at The Shell. They made their debut there in 2022, headlining a six-act lineup, then returned to top a 2023 triple bill with Ziggy Marley and Mavis Staples.

A champion of Big Easy-styled funk, jazz, R&B, soul and rock, Andrews is a charismatic performer whose sheer exuberance can elevate even his lesser songs. He and the members of his horn-driven band do more instrumental solos in concert than almost any other non-jazz group I can cite. And they are likely the only San Diego-bound act whose concert repertoire typically includes such New Orleans-bred anthems as “When The Saints Go Marching In” and “Down by the Riverside,” and high-octane versions of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” and George Clinton’s “We Want the Funk.” 7 p.m. Sept. 6, $33-$140.

Home : Poker News : Joshua Reichard Wins World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown

hardy rock tour

Joshua Reichard has been a fixture on the mid-major poker tournament circuit for over a decade, and in that time has established himself as one of the top players at that level. The Janesville, Wisconsin resident has accumulated 15 World Series of Poker Circuit rings, putting him in a tie for the third most titles in the history of that tour.

While Reichard had cashed for millions of dollars across more than 230 in-the-money finishes, he was lacking a marquee win in a major tournament. The average buy-in of his 22 recorded titles sat at just $811.

Reichard’s big breakthrough finally came in the 2024 World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown no-limit hold’em main event. Reichard topped a field of 1,869 entries in the $3,500 buy-in tournament to earn his first WPT title and a career-high payday of $839,300.

“All of my titles are minor league titles, but this is a major league title," Reichard told WPT reporters after coming out on top. “It feels good to finally breakthrough and have one of this magnitude.”

Reichard now sits with nearly $4 million in recorded earnings, with 23 career titles to his name.

This victory also awarded Reichard 1,620 Card Player Player of the Year points. This was his first title and third final-table finish of 2024. With 2,090 total points, he now sits just outside the top 50 in the POY race standings presented by Global Poker.

This tournament began back on Apr. 19 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in South Florida. The 1,869-entry field drawn over two starting flights built a prize pool of $5,980,800 that was split amongst the top 234 finishers. After three more days of action, the sea of entrants was narrowed down to just six contenders, with Dylan Smith leading and Reichard sitting in second chip position.

It took just a few orbits for the first elimination to take place. Aaron Kupin raised from under the gun and then four-bet shoved over Smith’s cutoff three-bet with pocket tens. Smith snap-called with pocket kings and held to narrow the field to five. Kupin earned $176,000 as the sixth-place finisher, the largest payday yet for the Boca Raton, Florida resident.

Jesse Lonis

Reichard entered four-handed play with more than half of the chips in play in his stack. He was involved in the next key clash, which saw a three-way all-in between him, Alex Queen, and two-time bracelet winner Jesse Lonis. Lonis held A-K, while both Reichard and Queen had A-Q. Lonis dragged the pot with top pair of kings and an ace kicker, eliminating Queen in the process. The reigning Borgata Winter Poker Open main event winner earned $305,000 as the fourth-place finisher. He also climbed to 31st place in the POY race.

Lonis fell back to the short stack during three-handed play when his K-Q lost a big preflop confrontation against the pocket aces of Landon Tice. Lonis eventually got his last 15 big blinds in with A-8, three-bet shoving over Reichard’s button min-raise. Reichard called with A-K and held to send Lonis to the rail in third place. This was the 13th final-table finish of the year for Lonis, with two titles won and more than $2 million in POY earnings accrued along the way. He now sits in second place in the POY standings.

Landon Tice

Tice walked away with a career-best score of $550,000. The Mid-States Poker Tour Venetian champion and Only Friends podcast co-host now has more than $1.6 million in career tournament earnings after this deep run. He is now set to square off against Jeremy Becker in a widely-discussed bet that will run during the WSOP .

Here is a look at the payouts and POY points awarded at the final table:

RIOT V Announce European Leg Of "Mean Streets Tour 2024"

US power metal legends, Riot V, are more than just back. Celebrating the release of their new album, Mean Streets, the group took the European stages - including a co-headlining performance at Germany's Rock Hard Festival - by storm earlier this month. Besides catapulting the band into the German album chart once again (this time at #35), Riot V entered the Swiss (#23) and Austrian (#59) sales chart, marking their very first entries in both countries.

To also continue their latest success story on the road, the legacy carrying band now announce the second European leg of the supporting tour which will lead them to ten cities in Iberia, Cyprus and Greece this November. Paving the way to the second part of Riot V's "Mean Streets" journey across the continent are a stop at Sweden Rock Festival, shows in Japan but also an extensive Latin American trip among others.

Bass player Don Van Stavern rejoices, "Tequila cheers, metal warriors! We would like to thank you for the amazing response for the new album Mean Streets! It means a lot being that it's our 17th album and 50th anniversary next year and you guys are still with us and supporting the legacy! This means the world to us and by world we mean all the great countries that have been supportive and we send lots of love and we are coming to Riot for you in November! Mean Streets part II tour! Shine on!"

Mean Streets contains 12 tracks which were recorded by Bruno Ravel in New Jersey. Ravel also mixed the album while Bart Gabriel took care of its mastering. Artwork was provided by Gyula Havancsák, who captured the galloping style of the new material skillfully - without missing the band's typical seal style, of course.
