Industrial Visit to Mother Dairy
The industrial visit to Mother Dairy's Patparganj facility on September 4, 2023 was both enlightening and engaging. The following are some of the key highlights and insights gained during our visit:
Introduction and Refreshments:
- The visit commenced with all the students arriving at the Mother Dairy site in Patparganj.
- We were warmly received and served with refreshments, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for our visit.
Meeting Room Briefing:
- The Mother Dairy team led us to their meeting room, where we received a comprehensive briefing on various aspects of the dairy industry and Mother Dairy's role within it.
- Some key points covered during the briefing included:
- The staggering daily consumption of 4,00,000 litres of milk in Delhi, emphasizing the significance of dairy production and distribution in the region.
- Mother Dairy's diversification into other product categories such as fresh vegetables and ice creams, showcasing their commitment to meeting diverse consumer needs.
- An informative discussion on the essential components found in milk and the significance of each component in the context of nutrition and product quality.
- Insights into the intricate process of procuring milk from local farmers, including the transportation of milk in temperature-controlled tankers, rigorous testing upon arrival, and subsequent processing.
Plant Tour and Milk Filtration Process:
- We had the privilege of witnessing the inner workings of the Mother Dairy plant.
- A highlight of the visit was gaining a firsthand understanding of the milk filtration process, which involves transferring milk from containers to the processing plant, maintaining precise temperature conditions.
- Additionally, we were provided with an overview of Mother Dairy's extensive product range, showcasing their commitment to providing high-quality dairy and related products.
Quality Control Demonstration:
- As a culmination of our visit, the Mother Dairy team conducted a demonstration of one of steps it follows in the rigorous quality control measures they employ to ensure that milk remains free from adulteration.
- During this demonstration, substances like salt and sodium were introduced into milk to illustrate how such adulterants when added to milk are recognised through alter in the milk's appearance to pink colour.
This eye-opening exercise emphasized the company's dedication to delivering pure and unadulterated dairy products to consumers.
In conclusion, our visit to Mother Dairy's Patparganj facility not only exposed us to the intricacies of dairy production but also showcased the company's commitment to quality, sustainability, and consumer well-being.
