The volcano inside the 360 experience at Journey

I had dinner inside a ‘volcano’ at this new immersive restaurant and bar

This new spot near Madison Square Park brings theatricality to your dinner plate.

Shaye Weaver

On Monday, my dinner table began smoking and my dish emerged from a glass cover filled with even more smoke. The room glowed with the amber-red hue of lava and the sound of crackling fire filled the space.

I was at Journey , a new restaurant, bar and lounge that is bringing “theatrical gastronomy” to New York City with immersive video installations paired with fine dining and mixology.

On its surface, it may sound like a gimmick, but a deeper dive—actually experiencing it—yields a fun night out with actually good drinks and food.

RECOMMENDED: You must solve a cipher to enter this speakeasy-styled restaurant and bar

Journey, which had a soft opening this week at its Madison Square Park location at 27 West 24th Street, is a celebration of travel and the connections we make with people on our…well, journeys.

The playfully-decorated space shows off a massive collection of globes from thrift shops and antique stores, 3D sculptures of the world’s most famous landmarks and buildings above its bar, a display of replica antiquities, and a wall of moving classical art a-la Harry Potter.

Journey salon art

Each area within the space—the bar, the salon, and the café—has a theatrical element.

At the bar, the cocktails you order (Legends of the Fall, Bloody Sunset, Apocalypto and Adordable Ruby) have accompanying comedic skits via augmented reality projected right in front of you on the bar top, including whiskey professor Ben Vereen.

In the “Epic Café,” where you can order a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner, the dishware has hidden 3D designs that you can unlock through an app on your phone.

In the beautiful and boothed Salon, which contains the collection of replica antiquities, projections bring sculptures to life and a hostess bedecked in stunning “FashionTech” couture tells you the stories behind them, adding a layer of live performance to your experience.

Journey Experience Bar

The bar, Salon and Epic Café each have their own menus from chef Edward Hong.

Two additional experiences are available at Journey: Journey Odyssey and Journey 360.

Opening on Friday, the 50-seat, ticketed experience Journey Odyssey creates a multisensory dinner experience at tables for two and four. Some of Broadway’s most talented performers— Cady Huffman and Judy Kaye —have filmed a series of amusing vignettes that introduce each of the five courses, which hail from different locales: an appetizer in Tokyo, the first course in Venice, and the entrée in Buenos Aires.

Journey Experience Bar

Perhaps the most impressive and immersive of all the experiences at Journey is Journey 360, which is where the firey table inside a volcano exists.

The ticketed culinary adventure, which fits 20 people at a time around a long, communal table, features 360 projection mapping that transports diners to four different locations across the world.

On Monday, I did the 360 experience and was whisked away (on a virtual airship named Celestine) from the top of the Empire State Building to the Amazonian rainforest to the artic, from a shipwreck under the sea to the inside of a volcano and finally to outer space. Throughout the entire five-course prix-fixe meal, the visuals and soundscape surrounding us were entertaining and were made even more exciting by an actor wearing a techie dress who led us through the trip.

Each dish corresponded to a setting—Amazonian greens (a salad made with Yuca, tocacho, hearts of palm, Cupaucu vinaigrette) in the rainforest; gin-cured arctic salmon (with cucumber, horseradish, apple and dill) at the Artic; black cod (with miyoga, bok choy and yuzu dashi glaze) under the sea; braised veal cheek (with forbidden rice risotto, harissa and marscapone); and raspberry mousse with chocolate gelato (almond texture, cardamom foam and Grand Marnier) in space.

Journey Experience Bar

While in the volcano, waiters placed dry ice on the table to make it smoke, then they brought out the veal, covered with glass domes. In one synchronous movement, the waiters lifted the domes and vapor poured out across the dish and our place settings. It was the crescendo, the high point, of the entire meal and it was indeed theatrical.

And yes, the visuals were fun, but the best part of the whole experience was seeing this all unfold with the people (strangers) around me. I ended up grabbing cocktails with a couple sitting across the way afterward in the salon, which is not a typical thing for me to do.

If you want to take your own journey in the middle of midtown, tickets for the shows Journey 360 and Journey Odyssey ($175pp) are available on the Tock app and at exploretock.com . Reservations for the Café or the Salon can be made through Open Table.

Journey, a One-of-a-Kind Restaurant in New York City, Is Not to Be Missed: Details on the Unique Dining Experience

Nov. 3 2023, Published 5:02 p.m. ET

If you've ever wanted to see dinner AND a show, here's your chance! Journey NYC , located in the Big Apple , is a unique dining experience that you won't get anywhere else.

From immersive video installations to fine dining, the experience is one you won't forget, as it "takes you around the world without ever leaving the dinner table," the restaurant's website reads.

The restaurant is located in NYC.

"Journey introduces theatrical gastronomy to New York City , a wholly original entertainment and dining concept blending fine dining with an immersive experience created by a world-class team of video, fashion and Broadway creators," Co-Owner/Founder Marc Routh exclusively tells Morning Honey .

"In our increasingly fragmented society where we spend so much time isolated behind our various screens and devices, there is a heightened desire to join together. As a Broadway producer, I am aware that we’re competing for our audiences’ time with social experiences, so bringing together great food, design and performance in a playful integrated setting offers a unique and satisfying challenge," Routh adds.

The concept is original!

Journey combines four separate experiences under one roof, which makes it all the more fun!

Journey 360 combines a five course pre fixe dinner created by our award-winning international chef Diego Negri with state of the art 360-degree projection technology. The adventure is guided by a live performer with the guests seated at a communal table.

Journey Voyager and Journey Odyssey are different dining experiences utilizing tabletop projections. Patrons are seated at their own individual tables in an intimate room enveloped by the Dawn to Dusk Mural.

Stella Lounge features cocktails accompanied by comic bar top videos, inventive craft cocktails, and ever-changing content on the video “paintings” in a cozy lounge designed by Tony Award winner David Gallo.

Journey A La Carte places Chef Diego Negri’s inspired culinary creations centerstage in a setting featuring 3 D Models of famous architecture from around the globe and dinner plates designed with an augmented reality component.

Chef Diego Negri worked on the menu.

Additionally, Chef Diego Negri , who has worked at notable restaurants such as St. Theo’s, Lupa, Marea and Eleven Madison Park, is in charge of the menu, which is not to be missed.

"The menu I created is an interaction and accumulation of my life experiences, that I have learned throughout my journey — resulting in the creation of authentic dishes," Negri exclusively tells Morning Honey . "For now, I recommend trying a bit of everything to experience the originality and the combination of textures that our dishes offer to your palate."

'The experience takes you around the world without ever leaving the dinner table,' the restaurant's website reads.

This one-of-a-kind restaurant, which was designed by Broadway vet David Gallo , was conceptualized by Co-Owners Alex Cesaria (NYC and Aspen Restauranteur) and Marc Routh (8-Time Tony Award Winning Broadway Producer), is not to be missed!

Inside 36th Annual Geraldo Rivera Golf Classic Honoring Howard Fensterman

The 36th Annual Geraldo Rivera Golf Classic took place at the Old Westbury Golf & Country Club, Long Island, NY. The event’s host, Geraldo Rivera, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist kicked off the golf classic with a brunch before the golfers hit the course at noon.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and town officials from West Babylon came together to proclaim the day of the event as “Geraldo Rivera Day”.  In addition, Geraldo was presented with a commemorative jersey from West Babylon High School and memento’s crafted by children participating in the Life’s WORC program.

This year’s event honored Howard Fensterman, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Abrams Fensterman, LLP as well as raised funds in support of Life’s WORC and their mission of making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Notable attendees included: Geraldo Rivera, Erica Rvera, Howard Fensterman, Bill O’Reilly, Bruce Blakeman, Victoria Schneps, Sean Hannity (Virtual).

For decades, the groundbreaking Golf Classic and other high-profile events have helped bring hope and light to this once-marginalized population. The Life’s WORC team has been together since Geraldo’s critically acclaimed series exposing the deplorable conditions at the Willowbrook State School on Staten Island in January 1972, a half century ago.

Super-stars like John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Stevie Wonder, John Denver, and the Allman Brothers Band have all contributed with their talent and generosity. Like their concerts, charity boxing matches filled Madison Square Garden and brought thousands in celebration in Central Park. These events, including for the last 34 years the Geraldo Rivera Golf Classic, have raised millions and helped improve the lives of countless thousands.

The legendary Twyla Tharp also returns from March 12 through 16 celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Twyla Tharp Dance with a program of two New York premieres. Set to Beethoven’s masterpiece of the same name, the Olivier-nominated Diabelli Variations makes visible the elegant humor and depth of the composer’s layered genius as Tharp’s movement effortlessly shifts from ballet to jazz, to modern, and even unexpected bits of social dance, accompanied by live piano. Combined with a new work set to a reimagining of Philip Glass’s iconic Aguas da Amazonia , arranged and performed live on a collection of custom-designed instruments by Third Coast Percussion, these two premiere works guarantee an evening of stellar dancing and phenomenal musicianship.

Items From Taylor Swift, Amy Winehouse and Elvis to be Auctioned Off at Kruse GWS Auctions

journey immersive dining

The personal Bible Elvis had on his nightstand the night he died with his favorite passages underlined, fashion worn by Taylor Swift and Amy Winehouse, and luxury items from Bibi and Eric Hilton of the famed hotel family are big draws for this May 25th megawattage event from Kruse GWS Auctions.

Amy Winehouse dress

“No one on the planet is hotter than Taylor Swift, and Amy Winehouse is having her moment with the release of the biopic “Back to Black,” says Brigitte Kruse, founder of Kruse GWS Auctions. “Plus, there’s been a scarcity of new Presley items up for auction, but Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” film has re-energized the marketplace.”

Elvis’s Diamond Ring

When it comes to memorabilia from the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Kruse reigns, having previously sold his engine-less private jet for half a million. Among the handful of women at the top of the global multi-billion dollar auction industry, she has sold an astounding $4.2 billion in assets and was the first woman auctioneer to set a Guinness World Record.

While stationed in Germany, Elvis–looking to get away from media attention—took a two-week “secret” vacation in 1959, staying at a lakeside resort area. At a local beer garden, he signed a chair, which is available for bidding and comes with documentation and holiday photos.

For fans of the rock star’s more flamboyant sartorial looks, there’s a custom mink and leather coat that he loved and wore and a pair of his cult classic Neostyle Nautic sunglasses with a 14k gold TCB logo worn during the filming of “Elvis on Tour.”

Perhaps more unusual though, is an Elvis-designed watch, (one of perhaps two dozen) given to his closest friends. It features a Star of David intertwined with a Christian cross and photos show him wearing one of these customized time pieces. And a treat for rat-pack fans: two pieces Elvis gifted to entertainer, friend and Vegas regular Sammy Davis Jr.,–a gold claw pendant with EP initials and a gold lion at the tip, and a 14K Yellow Gold TCB Necklace, the logo he created with former wife Priscilla. And, music fans will want to take advantage of the opportunity to get one of his personal guitars, a Guild D-40 sunburst acoustic model and accompanying hard case.

Bibi and Eric Hilton—yes, they’re Paris’s great aunt and uncle—were indeed hotel royalty. Eric was the former Vice Chairman of the Hilton Hotels Corporation and as a longtime resident of Las Vegas active in a variety of local philanthropic endeavors. His wife Bibi traveled the world as a goodwill ambassadress for the hotel chain, rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of entertainment, fashion, business, and government, working alongside her husband to ensure the Hilton brand rose to the internationally iconic status it enjoys today.

This Theatrical Gastronomy Dining Experience Is Sure To Tantalize Your Taste Buds

Journey, a dining entertainment enterprise like no other, is serving up an unforgettable array of theatrical fine dining experiences you absolutely can't miss!

Justine Golata

A world of beauty and adventure awaits at Journey , a global interactive dining experience. Located in Flatiron at 27 West 24th Street , Journey is spearheaded by individuals from all industries, stretching from fashion to Broadway, and culinary arts to multimedia. Think of it as a fine dining experience that’s been elevated by video installations, FashionTech, and theatre.

Helmed by Chef Edward Hong, the menu features New American cuisine with Korean influence that’s sure to satisfy. The entirely original concept takes interactive digital entertainment to the next level.

Journey Odyssey

Diners can have their pick from four various experiences —each unique in their own exploration and flavor profile. They range from ticketed to non-ticketed events. Every show lasts for a duration of about 90 minutes. Guests are expected to arrive 20 minutes before their experience begins.

Whichever one you choose, it’s sure to be an unforgettable time. Find out which experience suits you best below (trust us, you can’t go wrong here):

Journey 360

Journey 360

This culinary voyage is a ticketed event that consists of transformative, floor-to-ceiling and tabletop 360 projection mappings. You’ll take your seat at a communal table fit for 20 and travel to five exotic destinations while you dine. Every course will take you on a new adventure, whether it’s a raging waterfall in the rainforest, the  side of a volcano, or an underwater shipwreck.

In total, Journey 360 is a five-course prix fixe meal, but insider tip, wait until you see the out-of-this-world (wink, wink) location you’ll be whisked away to at dessert. The experience truly brings you world-class dishes alongside a trip around the world, all without having to leave the table.

🍽 Book your Journey 360 reservation here

Journey Odyssey

Journey Odyssey

Another ticketed event, Journey Odyssey is most similar to Journey 360 except much more intimate. Instead of sitting at a communal table of 20, you’re at tables of 2-4 people.

Throughout five courses, Broadway’s world-class performers will introduce you to a series of comic vignettes. Your appetizer will begin in Tokyo , but before you know it you’ll be jet setting to Venice for your first course and Buenos Aires for the entrée.

🍽 Book your Journey Odyssey reservation here

Journey Lounge

Journey Lounge

This non-ticketed event will seat you at a lavish bar filled with paintings and objects that come to life! 3D animations will surround and entertain you as hostesses in FashionTech couture supply you with cocktail flights with integrated video directly projected on the top of the bar.

This salon is the perfect before and after dinner drinks stop or place to impress your friends on a night out.

Journey À La Carte

Journey Epic Café

Journey À La Carte is NYC’s first-of-its-kind combination of a café, bar, and immersive fine dining with a dash of theater. Sounds like a whirlwind of entertainment, no?

From morning to night, Journey À La Carte is open from breakfast to dinner. Uncover hidden three-dimensional designs on the dishware thanks to the help of augmented reality. Plus, it even offers side-street dining in the warmer months.

JOURNEY EXPERIENCE NYC

Immersive dining in the flatiron district.

Enter Journey Experience NYC and you will immediately feel like you’re in an elegant and sophisticated dining room. Go to the back and side rooms, and you will find unique immersive experiences that are $175 per person—but worth every penny.

journey immersive dining

The Journey 360 room is fascinating. Picture a long communal table with classic white linens and five-course menus neatly tucked into the napkin with each guest’s name projected onto their seating spot! In addition, there are projections on the walls around you that make you feel as if you are dining in a zeppelin tethered to the Empire State Building and other famous landmarks around the world. Some of the different experiences within this unique eatery include a dark back lounge with fantastic art and furniture from around the world, including a “bottomless” table with endless swirls of lightbulbs under the glass.

The two masterminds behind Journey Experience NYC are Broadway producer Marc Routh, a co-owner of the Tony Award-winning Broadway supper club 54 Below, and noted restauranteur Alex Vanderbilt. Both are proud of the high praise they are getting for their groundbreaking project. Vanderbilt told New York Lifestyles, “Journey 360 is more multimedia and technology-based, so it feels extremely intriguing when you sit at the table with your name emblazoned on the seat. Journey Odyssey is more theatrical and has that life-actor integration that makes the show feel more Broadway and less technology.”

However, the star in both experiences is the food, the quality, and the creativity of the dishes. Chef Edward Hong has created each dish to support the location and narrative while surprising and delighting the guests through traditional culinary sensations of taste, smell, and visuals. The cuisine is a real mix of styles and includes a lot of raw fish. Vanderbilt calls it “new American cuisine with a Korean influence. We are so proud of our care in preparing and sourcing farm-to-table ingredients, to the prime choice of fish, meat, and other proteins.” In addition, sitting at either the front or back-room bars provides a la carte off an elevated bar menu—with no reservations required.

journey immersive dining

AN “EPIC” EXPERIENCE If you want standard dining without immersive experiences, book an a la carte dinner in the front room, Journey Epic Café. The go-to dishes we tried and have been obsessed with ever since included the appetizers: the Wagyu Sliders which are a meal in themselves—you get three giant dry-aged sliders topped with artisanal melted cheddar. Finally, we teamed those burgers with the Disco Fries, hearty sticks of potatoes boiled, fried, and then baked with melted Gouda and herbs.

When it came time for the entrees, we decided to go big or go home and share a large steak! The dry-aged Tomahawk Steak is an impressive 40 ounces, including the extra-large bone, and can feed three or four people! It is sided with homemade chimichurri sauce, roasted veggies including multicolored carrots, and super buttery mashed potatoes, the perfect medium-to-firm consistency!

For dessert, we split the Raspberry Mousse and Baba Au Rhum, which are done halfway between “deconstructed” and “classic” styles. The Raspberry Mousse features a unique consistency, almost like cookie crumbs have been mixed in, while the Baba Au Rhum is served warm, with homemade custard in both the center and on top.

journey immersive dining

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Each night has different immersive experiences, and there will be more choices as time goes on—check the Journey Experience NYC website for the themes available the night you want to book.

If you want simple a la carte dining in the Journey Epic Café but still want to experience the projections, you can visit the bars and ask the friendly bartenders to show you some visuals.

The most popular immersive journey is Journey Odyssey. It features Broadway performers Cady Huffman and Judy Kate doing vignettes about visiting each country representing the five courses. The Journey 360 option gives you the experience of dining in the center of a volcano. Amazingly, dry ice is placed on your table, so diners are engulfed in smoke when your food comes out. (Now, that’s what we would call “theatrical gastronomy” at its most extreme!)

Emporium Marketplace

Effortless all-day dining, inspired by cuisines and flavours from across the globe

Emporium Marketplace

An Emporium is defined as a place offering many different things, a place for merchants to showcase their best produce ( coming from the Greek word emporion -  ἐμπόριον ).

Emporium Marketplace is an effortless all-day dining restaurant, bringing the global culinary talent and produce to the fore to offer diverse cuisines with a focus on quality produce, inspired by local destinations, and allowing guests total flexibility in what they choose to eat, and when.

Bathed in natural bright light, several separate cooking stations evolve throughout the day. White marble and minimalist design take centre stage, allowing the freshest ingredients to make the food the true hero of this elegant relaxed space.

Features include sushi, fresh seafood and a daily rotisserie offering grilled, roasted, and slow-cooked meats. Pasta is cooked to order, and freshly baked pizzas and bread are on offer as are home-made sandwiches. The charcuterie, fromagerie, boulangerie and patisserie stations enhance the experience. Fresh juices, smoothies and acai bowls are provided during breakfast.

A selection of wines, champagne and beverages are available to complement meals throughout the day.

Signature Dishes at Emporium Marketplace

Handmade tortelloni, ricotta cheese, spinach, tomato-sage butter

It’s often the simplest dishes that take great skill – this classic is no exception. Tortelloni are ring-shaped, filled pasta ‘pockets’ that originate in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. Made onboard from scratch every day in the authentic Italian way, it’s a process best described as art-meets-science. Carefully sourced flour is used to make dough that has the correct degree of elasticity;  this is essential to giving the tortelloni their mouth-watering light and silky texture before being filled with ricotta and spinach, then gently coated in tomato-sage butter.

Plant based chia yoghurt

Our curated chia yoghurt is daily made from homemade cashew milk, creating a fusion of delicious creamy flavours for guests to enjoy each morning.

Top 4 ‘culinary theaters’ in Moscow

Combining culinary and theater experience.

Combining culinary and theater experience.

1. KRASOTA

journey immersive dining

This restaurant and bar can only accommodate 20 people, and unifies immersive and culinary art. Sitting at a sizable round table, the diners watch large-scale shifting video projections. For example, in the “Imaginary Russia” performance you can travel, just like in a time machine, from the era of paganism to the USSR and the 21st century.

journey immersive dining

The guests find themselves in a dim room without windows, the placement of dishes on the tables is dynamic and doesn’t allow any time to get bored. The action happens both on the plates on the table and all around you. A video sequence on the walls and tables immerse you in corresponding historical moments, making you feel nostalgia or rethink the events of the past.

“In this project, we experiment on how to decipher images into dishes and how to evoke various emotions,” says Vladimir Mukhin, the chef for this project as well as the White Rabbit Family holding. “Success is achieved only thanks to a genuine human experience. For example, my personal experience of getting caught in a horrific storm when sailing in Norway allowed me to convey the feeling of a safe harbor in Aivazovsky’s painting, “The Ninth Wave”, during one of our dinners.”

journey immersive dining

Krasota has already hosted dinners dedicated to Russia and to the work of eight Russian artists. For example, ‘Imaginary Art’ rethinks the works of Repin, Petrov-Vodkin, Chagall, and others. In January, it will host the premiere of a new set, ‘Imaginary Future’, which will tell seven stories about possible visions of the future, from building metropolises on the ocean floor to the rising dominance of AI.

Address: Moscow, Romanov Alley, 2, building 1

Tickets from 23,500 rubles (about $260)

2. SVET

journey immersive dining

This is a show about a journey in an imaginary express train that explores human vices. The guests sit in the hall where tables are set parallel to each other. A visual sequence shifts on the walls: space, sea, abstractions, and views from the window of a train compartment. Periodically, you hear live vocal sounds. The viewer is offered to contemplate on the most relevant topics of modernity – money, sex, idleness, power, and ego. There’s a reason behind the name of the performance – Guilty Show.

journey immersive dining

There are six acts in total; during the breaks, a dinner is served made by the hands of chef Stanislav Pesotsky, the main popularizer in Russia of ‘Nordic’ (the Scandinavian culinary branch).

journey immersive dining

“Our show has a set of different “puzzles”, and the food is one of them,” said Pesotsky. “For example, in the ‘Idleness’ section, we are at the bottom of an ocean. The narrative and the set speak of the sea, so the food on your plate comes from there: several types of caviar, seaweed, cod, etc. There’s no hidden meaning that you need to search for. In the ‘Ego’ section the story is about what is always hidden from the eye. There’s a person’s ‘outer shell’ and there’s their inner world; the idea is to convey the image of emptiness through the concealed serving of dishes. A guest receives a white plate, showered with light; and only by breaking the snow-white construct on the plate can they reach the Truth.”

Address: Moscow, Podkopayevsky Alley, 4a.

Tickets: 18,000 rubles (about $200)

3. Madison

journey immersive dining

At this late dinner show “Mad Girls”, the audience finds itself in the sultry atmosphere of an American cabaret of the early 20th century. Dashing heroines surrounded by luxurious decorations – among velvet, glass, wood, and bronze – sing, dance, and tell their stories, and share their dreams. The show is conducted both on stage and above it (circus acts), as well as between tables, served by waiters during brief intermissions.

journey immersive dining

A duck breast pate in chocolate glaze opens the set; followed by beet marmalade with labneh cheese and malt chips and scallops with a smoked Suluguni cheese mousse. The main course is venison tenderloin with aioli made from black garlic, and stuffed potatoes. For a vivid ending there’s a dessert with black currant, Anchan tea cream, and coffee Tuiles.

journey immersive dining

“An essential part of the show is the use of bold solutions – the dishes should push boundaries and evoke different emotions,” said Alexei Lysenko, the show’s producer. “This is how the unusual combination of a scallop and beet marmalade emerged. That’s something few try anywhere else.”

Address: Leningradsky Prospekt, 31A, building 1

Tickets: 7500 – 12,500 rubles ($80 - $140)

4. Zerkalo. Life

Located in the center of Moscow, there are 12 viewers, 12 rooms, and 24 actors all in 1000 square meters. This space hosts a theater ‘promenade’ with a dinner at the conclusion. How is the walk conducted? The details of the performance “Zerkalo Carlosa Santosa” are kept secret, but here’s what we know: at first, a dozen viewers are freely walking in quite a large space – the director sets the tone by speeding up his narrative or slowing it down. 24 actors perform for 12 viewers. Each viewer's experience has their own visual and audio spectacle, reacting to the action happening right next to them.

journey immersive dining

“The performance raises different topics; it’s speaking of life, death, dishonesty, and pretense. It’s akin to a visit to a psychologist, where the viewers are not simply watching the scenes but letting them pass through or participating in the action,” this was the impression of user catherine-catty, who wrote a review on the Internet.

The organizers explain the name of the show as follows: Carlos is the mystic writer Castaneda, and Santos is Santa Claus, who grants wishes.

The organizers warn that the performance features sudden changes of light, and a viewer can find themselves in an enclosed space, which can be uncomfortable for some people.

At the end of the promenade, waiting for the audience is a simple dinner served on a common table, where everyone can pick a dish to their liking – fish or meat, fried or fresh vegetables, cheeses and wine. Here, you can share your experiences from what you just went through with other participants and compare emotions.

journey immersive dining

Director Talgat Batalov and restaurateur Evgeny Kadomsky invented and staged this show on the basis of the text of playwright Maxim Kurochkin.

Address: Bolshaya Dmitrovka, 32, building 1

Tickets: 5000 – 6900 rubles ($55 - $77)

Russia Michelin Star Revelation

journey immersive dining

The long-awaited arrival of the MICHELIN Guide marks a recognition of the rapid development in gastronomic culture in Russia over the past 30 years. The unique history and traditions of the region, formed by the variety of high-quality local products from the Far East, the Altai Republic, the Black Sea and the north-west of Russia, inspire talented chefs to create exquisite culinary masterpieces that cannot be found anywhere else. The first ever Moscow MICHELIN Star ceremony took place tonight, at the Zaryadye Concert Hall, in the heart of the Russian capital. The festive evening, organized with all necessary security measures, was attended by more than 500 guests. “ The MICHELIN Guide and Moscow are sharing a historical moment with the unveiling of the MICHELIN Guide Moscow 2022 selection . Inspectors have been particularly seduced by the high-quality local produce. Russia is a wonderfully wide-ranging expression of nature: from sea coasts to wild forests, from aromatic herbs to first-class seafood… There are lots of discoveries to make ” says Gwendal Poullennec, MICHELIN Guide International Director. “ Moreover, thanks to cultural exchanges throughout history between Russia and Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East, gourmets will experience unforgettable authentic meals full of flavor .”

Restaurants were celebrated through the announcement of the MICHELIN Guide selection, with the reveal of Bib Gourmand (for restaurants offering particularly interesting value for money, where you can enjoy a delicious meal under RUB2000), MICHELIN Stars (for restaurants serving high-quality cuisine), and MICHELIN Green Stars (for restaurants that are pioneering in their sustainable approach). As for all its other selections, the MICHELIN Guide has used the same historical methodology. The team of independent and anonymous inspectors from the Guide has been in the field for its traditional table-tests, during which they evaluate the meal they experience via 5 assessment criteria  :

- The quality of the produce used - The mastery of cooking techniques - The mastery of flavors - The chef’s personality in his/her cuisine - The consistency between visits Thanks to the seriousness and depth of their methodology, inspectors were able to collectively build this first MICHELIN Guide Moscow selection.

The Influence of Renowned Restaurants on the Travel Industry

Renowned restaurants have a significant impact on the travel industry, attracting food enthusiasts from around the globe. These culinary establishments have become sought-after destinations for travelers seeking exceptional dining experiences. By offering unique flavors, innovative techniques, and immersive dining atmospheres, renowned restaurants have transformed the way people view travel. No longer is sightseeing the sole purpose of a trip; now, exploring the local culinary scene is just as important.

Renowned restaurants have also put lesser-known destinations on the map. For instance, Noma, located in Copenhagen, Denmark, has received worldwide recognition for its reinvention of Nordic cuisine. This has led to an increase in tourism to Denmark, as travelers seek to experience the culinary brilliance that Noma has to offer. Similarly, Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, has drawn tourists to the Emilia-Romagna region, showcasing the region's rich culinary heritage.

The impact of renowned restaurants on the travel industry goes beyond simply attracting tourists. It also drives economic growth in the local communities. These restaurants create job opportunities, support local farmers and producers, and contribute to the overall development of the culinary ecosystem. The influence of renowned restaurants on the travel industry is undeniable, making them an essential part of any gastronomic journey.

Michelin-Starred Restaurants and Their Significance

Michelin-starred restaurants are the epitome of culinary excellence. The Michelin Guide, first published in 1900 by the French tire company Michelin, is the definitive reference for fine dining across the globe. The guide's prestigious star rating system has become the gold standard in the culinary world, with three stars signifying exceptional cuisine that is worth traveling for.

Earning a Michelin star is no small feat. It requires a perfect balance of creativity, technique, and consistent delivery of outstanding culinary experiences. Chefs who receive this prestigious accolade are recognized as masters of their craft. Their dedication to quality, attention to detail, and ability to push the boundaries of gastronomy set them apart from the rest.

The significance of Michelin-starred restaurants extends beyond their reputation. A Michelin star can significantly impact a restaurant's success, attracting discerning diners who are willing to pay a premium for an unforgettable dining experience. It also serves as a stamp of approval for chefs and their teams, boosting their credibility within the industry and opening doors to new opportunities.

Famous Restaurants Around the World

From the vibrant streets of Tokyo to the romantic corners of Paris and the bustling markets of Bangkok, renowned restaurants can be found in every corner of the globe. These establishments have become icons of their respective cities, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

One such iconic restaurant is Sukiyabashi Jiro in Tokyo, Japan. This three Michelin-starred sushi restaurant is helmed by the legendary sushi master Jiro Ono. With only ten seats available, reservations are hard to come by, but those lucky enough to secure a spot are treated to a culinary experience like no other. Each piece of sushi is crafted with precision, showcasing the flavors of the freshest ingredients. Dining at Sukiyabashi Jiro is a true testament to the artistry and dedication that goes into creating a world-class dining experience.

In Paris, France, Le Jules Verne is a renowned restaurant that offers breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower. Situated on the tower's second level, this Michelin-starred restaurant combines exquisite French cuisine with an unforgettable setting. The menu showcases classic French dishes with a modern twist, using the finest seasonal ingredients. A meal at Le Jules Verne is a true celebration of French gastronomy and a feast for all the senses.

Bangkok, Thailand, is home to Gaggan, a two Michelin-starred restaurant that has redefined Indian cuisine. Chef Gaggan Anand's innovative and playful approach to traditional Indian flavors has garnered international acclaim. The restaurant's tasting menu takes diners on a culinary journey through India, with dishes that are both visually stunning and explosively flavorful. Gaggan's avant-garde take on Indian cuisine has put Bangkok on the map as a culinary destination.

These are just a few examples of the famous restaurants around the world that have made a name for themselves through their exceptional culinary offerings. Each restaurant tells a unique story, showcasing the flavors and traditions of its respective region.

The Evolution of Culinary Trends and Their Impact on Renowned Restaurants

Culinary trends have always played a significant role in the success of renowned restaurants. As tastes and preferences evolve, so do the menus and dining experiences offered by these establishments. Staying ahead of the curve is essential for chefs who want to maintain their relevance in the ever-changing culinary landscape.

In recent years, there has been a shift towards more sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. Chefs are increasingly focusing on creating dishes that not only taste great but also have a minimal impact on the environment. This has led to the rise of farm-to-table concepts, where restaurants forge direct relationships with local farmers and producers to ensure the highest quality ingredients.

Another notable trend is the fusion of culinary traditions from different cultures. Chefs are experimenting with flavors and techniques from around the world, creating unique and exciting dishes that defy traditional categorization. This fusion of cuisines has led to the emergence of new culinary hotspots, where diverse flavors and cultures collide.

The impact of culinary trends on renowned restaurants is twofold. On one hand, it allows chefs to showcase their creativity and push the boundaries of what is considered traditional cuisine. On the other hand, it presents a challenge to maintain a balance between innovation and staying true to the restaurant's identity. Adapting to changing trends while preserving the essence of what makes a restaurant renowned is a delicate dance that only the best chefs can master.

Experiencing a Renowned Restaurant: What to Expect

Dining at a renowned restaurant is an experience like no other. From the moment you step through the doors, you are transported into a world of culinary excellence and impeccable service. The ambiance, the attention to detail, and the anticipation of what lies ahead all contribute to the overall experience.

The journey begins with the menu. Renowned restaurants often offer tasting menus, allowing diners to sample a variety of dishes that showcase the chef's signature style. Each course is thoughtfully crafted, with a focus on flavor, presentation, and storytelling. The menu is a reflection of the chef's vision and serves as a guide through the culinary journey that awaits.

Service at renowned restaurants is impeccable. From the moment you are seated until the final bite, the staff ensures that every need is met. They are knowledgeable about the menu, able to answer any questions you may have, and provide recommendations based on your preferences. Attention to detail is key, with each dish presented with precision and care.

The dining room itself is often an extension of the restaurant's identity. Whether it's a sleek and modern space or a cozy and intimate setting, the ambiance sets the tone for the entire experience. Renowned restaurants pay attention to every detail, from the table settings to the lighting, creating an atmosphere that enhances the dining experience.

Tips for Dining at Renowned Restaurants

Dining at a renowned restaurant can be an intimidating experience, especially if it's your first time. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your dining experience:

1. Do your research : Before making a reservation, research the restaurant to understand its concept, cuisine, and dress code. Familiarize yourself with the menu and read reviews to get a sense of what to expect.

2. Make reservations in advance : Renowned restaurants often have limited seating, and reservations can be hard to come by. Plan ahead and make your reservation well in advance to secure a spot.

3. Arrive on time : Punctuality is essential when dining at renowned restaurants. Arrive on time to ensure you have ample time to enjoy the entire dining experience.

4. Be open-minded : Renowned restaurants often push the boundaries of culinary conventions. Be open to trying new flavors and techniques, and embrace the chef's creativity.

5. Engage with the staff : The staff at renowned restaurants are there to enhance your dining experience. Don't hesitate to ask questions, seek recommendations, or share any dietary restrictions or preferences you may have.

6. Savor every bite : Take your time to savor each dish and appreciate the flavors, textures, and presentation. Dining at a renowned restaurant is a sensory experience, so be fully present and immerse yourself in the moment.

How to Make Reservations at Renowned Restaurants

Securing a reservation at a renowned restaurant can be a challenge, but with careful planning and persistence, it is possible. Here are some tips to increase your chances of getting a table:

1. Plan ahead : Research the restaurant's reservation policy and find out when they start accepting bookings. Some restaurants open reservations months in advance, so mark your calendar and be ready to book as soon as they become available.

2. Be flexible : If your desired date or time is fully booked, consider alternative options. Try booking for a weekday instead of a weekend or opt for lunch instead of dinner. Being flexible with your schedule increases your chances of getting a reservation.

3. Use online reservation platforms : Many renowned restaurants now use online reservation platforms, making it easier to secure a table. Create an account on these platforms and set up notifications for when reservations become available.

4. Call directly : If online reservations are not available, try calling the restaurant directly. Be polite and explain your interest in dining at their establishment. Sometimes, a personal touch can make all the difference.

5. Consider off-peak hours : If you're willing to dine at unconventional times, such as early lunch or late dinner, you may have a better chance of getting a reservation. Off-peak hours are often less in demand and more likely to have availability.

Remember, persistence is key when trying to secure a reservation at a renowned restaurant. Keep trying, be patient, and eventually, your efforts will pay off.

The Role of Social Media in Promoting Renowned Restaurants

Social media has revolutionized the way we discover, experience, and share our culinary adventures. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter have become powerful tools for promoting renowned restaurants and connecting with food enthusiasts around the world.

Renowned restaurants leverage social media to showcase their dishes, highlight their unique dining experiences, and engage with their audience. They create visually stunning content that not only captures the essence of their cuisine but also tells a story. From behind-the-scenes glimpses into the kitchen to mouthwatering close-ups of their signature dishes, social media provides a glimpse into the world of renowned restaurants.

Food bloggers and influencers also play a significant role in promoting renowned restaurants. By sharing their dining experiences and recommending their favorite establishments, they create a buzz and generate interest among their followers. Many renowned restaurants collaborate with influencers, inviting them for exclusive tastings or events, further expanding their reach and exposure.

Social media has also made it easier for diners to discover new and lesser-known restaurants. Through hashtags, geotags, and recommendations from friends, users can find hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path culinary experiences. This has led to a democratization of the dining scene, with smaller, independent restaurants gaining recognition and attracting a wider audience.

The Longest Train Journey in the World Offers a Rare Look at North Korea

All aboard

Social Media Editor

North Korea has opened its national rail service to foreign travellers, creating the longest train route in the world, between Pyongyang and Moscow. Culture Trip speaks to Simon Cockerell of DPRK tour specialist Koryo Group about its significance.

The North Korean leg of the Pyongyang-Moscow train route takes about 36 hours, so travellers can spend a day-and-a-half observing an area of the country that very few people on the planet have ever seen. Chugging from the capital to the north-eastern city of Tumangang before crossing into Russia, those aboard have an opportunity to glimpse a landscape that has intrigued the world for decades.

The tracks

One of the main people who pushed for the train line to be open to non-nationals is 40-year-old Simon Cockerell, who first visited North Korea in 2002 and has since been to the country 170 times. He wants would-be passengers to know that although the scope of where they can go in the country is limited, visitors are actually seeing the real deal in the places where they are allowed. “There’s an idea that the country is some type of ‘Truman Show’, but that’s ridiculous. It’s just people living their lives. Nothing is staged for tourists. It’s not a place full of robots attempting to fool foreigners.”

Cockerell hopes that with time, now that the train is finally open to tourists, the cities and towns along the way will be visitable as well. “I would love to see people have a lot more access, but I’m realistic about it,” he explains. “I hope that in a few years tourists will be free to wander around Pyongyang by themselves. I hope that one day the country’s high-level officials will not be so wary of foreigners. But things do move very slowly here. It will take time .”

Looking out on to North Korea

Cockerell worked tirelessly to help open the railroad to foreigners. “We sent a lot of letters and bothered a lot of people for years,” he tells Culture Trip. “The system there works like a ladder, so you can only speak to the people directly above you. The default decision is always ‘no’, but after much effort and giving many headaches to those above us, we’re now able to use that train.”

Although the bimonthly train makes multiple stops on its way from Pyongyang to Tumangang, where the borders of North Korea, China and Russia meet, foreigners aren’t allowed to disembark until they reach Tumangang. Cockerell says officials occasionally allow passengers to “stretch their legs” in some of the stations, but otherwise tourists are more or less stuck on board throughout the journey.

Train views

The trip costs the equivalent of £285 to £817 depending on how you purchase the ticket and whether you are in first or second class. The train has no dining car, but staff deliver hot water so passengers can drink tea and prepare any food they’ve brought with them. As with the the rest of country, foreigners who are not travelling with a state-recognised tour operator will not be granted the visas necessary to make the trip.

Ayesha Sitara, a writer for the South China Morning Post , took the train’s inaugural ride in March. She describes the carriage reserved for foreigners and North Koreans going abroad as containing “six four-bed cabins comfortably kitted out with fresh linen and a fixed table”. Contrarily, when she was able to peer into the local accommodation during one of the aforementioned station stretching sessions, she found “neglected seating under watchful portraits of their [the locals] dearest leaders: Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il”.

Traffic jam

To Cockerell, the more opportunity for cross-cultural exchange between North Korea and the rest of the world, the better. He believes more openness to foreigners will help combat stereotypes and make a positive impact on both sides.

“Our view of North Korea is not positive and North Koreans’ view of the outside world is horrifically negative. It’s important to try to fight that negative that their government gives them – we must present an alternative face for that. We may think of them as robots, but their media tells them to think of us as literal devils. Let’s try to show even a small number of these people that that’s not true.”

Should ai be steering the course of cruise ships.

AI is rechartering the course of cruise ships.

In the vast, blue expanses of our oceans, a quiet revolution is taking place aboard cruise ships. This revolution isn’t powered by the winds or the tides, but by the invisible currents of artificial intelligence (AI). From enhancing passenger experiences to optimizing ship operations, AI is charting a new course for the cruise industry, and we’re sailing through the transformative journey of AI in the world of cruising, exploring how it's not just changing the way cruise ships operate but also how it's redefining the maritime adventure for passengers.

AI: The New Captain of Cruise Ship Innovation

Cruise ships, those marvels of maritime engineering, are becoming smarter, more efficient, and more attuned to the needs and desires of their passengers, thanks to AI. This technology, like a skilled captain, is steering these floating cities towards a future where every journey is not just a voyage, but an experience tailored in luxury, efficiency, and sustainability.

Personalized Guest Experiences: AI as the Ultimate Concierge

In the realm of luxury cruising, personalization is the pinnacle of service. Royal Caribbean, a titan in the cruise industry, is pioneering this with AI tools. Their app, powered by AI, acts as a personal assistant to passengers, helping them schedule activities, make dining reservations, and even find their way around the ship. Already, AI can analyze our preferences, behaviors, and (even level of) commitment to specific activities. Rooted in science like psychology, cruise organizers leverage this information to identify the best-fit activities for each passenger to maximize engagement and experience. As a result, this digital concierge ensures that every guest's experience is not just enjoyable but uniquely their own.

Your face will become your boarding pass.

‘Fortnite’ Servers Are Down, Here’s When Chapter 5, Season 3 Begins [Updated]

Ethereum etfs approved: insights into the sec’s decision, today s quordle hints and answers for friday may 24, ai and facial recognition: smoothing the boarding process.

The adventure begins the moment a passenger steps aboard, and AI is making this first step smoother than ever. Carnival Corporation's OceanMedallion is a game-changer in this regard. Using facial recognition technology, it streamlines the boarding process, making it quicker and more hassle-free. This technology extends to personalizing onboard experiences, turning the cruise ship into a smart vessel attuned to the preferences of its guests.

Intelligent Navigation: AI for Safer, Efficient Voyages

AI is not just transforming passenger experiences but also how cruise ships navigate. AI systems analyze weather data, ocean currents, and other environmental factors to plot the most efficient and safe courses. This intelligent navigation aids captains in making informed decisions, ensuring the safety of the vessel, and reducing fuel consumption, contributing to a more sustainable maritime journey.

The Bionic Bar: Robotic Bartenders on the High Seas

Royal Caribbean's Quantum-class ships have taken entertainment and innovation to the next level with the Bionic Bar. Here, robotic bartenders, powered by AI, mix and serve cocktails. This fusion of technology and entertainment not only dazzles guests but also represents the cutting edge of AI's application in enhancing the cruise experience.

AI is creating the next generation of cruise ships.

Predictive Maintenance: Keeping the Ship in Top Shape

Behind the scenes, AI is playing a crucial role in maintaining the ship's health. Predictive maintenance systems use AI to monitor the condition of various ship components, predicting when they might need repair or replacement. This foresight minimizes the risk of malfunctions and ensures that every journey is as smooth as it is enjoyable.

Enhancing Energy Efficiency: AI for a Greener Voyage

Sustainability is a vital concern in the cruise industry, and AI is steering the way towards greener practices. Cruise lines like MSC Cruises are using AI to optimize energy use onboard, reducing the environmental footprint of their ships. This commitment to sustainability showcases how AI can be a force for good, ensuring that the beauty of the oceans can be enjoyed by generations to come.

AI for Onboard Health and Safety

In a world increasingly conscious of health and safety, AI is a crucial ally. Cruise ships are using AI systems to monitor the health and safety of passengers and crew. From ensuring hygiene standards are maintained to managing medical emergencies, AI is enhancing the safety protocols aboard, giving passengers peace of mind as they explore the seas.

The Ethical Compass: Navigating AI with Responsibility

As AI becomes an integral part of the cruising experience, ethical considerations around data privacy and the use of AI must be navigated carefully. Ensuring that AI enhances rather than detracts from the human element of cruising is paramount in maintaining the charm and allure of sea voyages.

The Future of AI in Cruising: Charting a Course into an AI Future

Looking to the horizon, the potential of AI in the cruise industry is as vast as the oceans themselves. Virtual reality (VR) experiences powered by AI could offer passengers immersive excursions to exotic destinations without leaving the ship. AI could also personalize these VR adventures, making each virtual journey a reflection of the passenger's interests and desires.

The integration of AI into the cruise industry is more than a technological trend; it's a journey into a future where every voyage is a masterpiece of personalization, efficiency, and sustainability. In this future, cruise ships are not just vessels; they are smart, floating havens where technology and luxury converge to create experiences that are as unforgettable as they are unique.

Vert soon, this AI maritime adventure, where every cruise is not just a journey across the seas but a voyage into the future of travel, will be a reality. Here, amidst the waves and the winds, technology and tradition sail together, steering the ship towards a horizon where the wonders of AI meet the timeless allure of the oceans. In this journey, every passenger is not just a traveler but a pioneer, exploring a world where the seas are vast, and the possibilities are endless.
