Smile for the Camera
Maluma first announced the Don Juan tour in May, sharing with fans that it would be an “exhilarating”” experience. “I took a year off from touring to focus on perfecting what I feel is the best album of my career, Don Juan ,” he said at the time.
An Intense Production
Maluma shared that the Don Juan tour would mark one of his most intensive concert experiences ever. “I can’t wait to perform the new songs from the album for my fans for the very first time alongside my greatest hits in what I consider to be my most ambitious concert production yet.”

Maluma announces the u.s. leg of his “don juan world tour”.
Following the wildly successful “Papi Juancho Maluma World Tour 2022”; which boasted sold-out shows across the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, global Latin music idol, Maluma, is proud to announce the U.S. leg of his Don Juan World Tour.
The artist made the tour announcement via social media with a funny video that pays homage to his “Don Juan” alter ego. To watch it click HERE.
Promising a groundbreaking experience for his devoted fans, Maluma is set to embark on a 30-city tour throughout the United States. The tour kicks off on August 31st in Sacramento, California, and includes venues such as The Forum in Los Angeles, Madison Square Garden in New York, and the Kaseya Center in Miami. The superstar will bring his signature “Don Juan” to life on the concert stage while singing many of the songs off the album of the same name as well as all of his greatest hits that have made him a global Latin music icon, such as “Hawai”; “Felices Los Cuatro”; “Sobrio” as well as his latest release, “Diablo, que Chimba”.
“I am so excited to return to arenas around the US this fall. I took a year off from touring to focus on perfecting what I feel is the best album of my career Don Juan. I can’t wait to perform the new songs from the album for my fans for the very first time alongside my greatest hits in what I consider to be my most ambitious concert production yet. I’ve waited to give my fans a music and concert experience unlike any other and I expect the Don Juan U.S. Tour to be an exhilarating experience that they’ll never forget!,” Maluma expressed.
Maluma is one of the leading voices in Latin music and a bona fide global youth idol. Born Juan Luis Londoño in Medellin, Colombia, he formulated his artistic moniker Maluma from the first two letters of the names of his mother, father and sister.
The 2018 Latin GRAMMY award winner for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album (for F.A.M.E.) is one of social media’s most popular artists with over 25 million Facebook fans, 8 million Twitter followers, and a whopping 63 million Instagram followers, making him the leading Latin male artist on Instagram and the first and only one to surpass 50 million followers. His official YouTube/VEVO channel has more than 28.1 million subscribers, having earned him a YouTube Diamond Play Button Award.
With his Maluma World Tour he has achieved unparalleled success, having sold over one million tickets in 105 worldwide concerts in 2017 alone and becoming the top concert-selling Latin artist in the world. In 2018 and 2019, he broke records achieving full houses in all of his shows throughout the United States and Europe selling out Madison Square Garden (New York), the American Airlines Arena (Miami) and two The Forums (Los Angeles), among others. With his 11:11 World Tour he also sold out Israel’s largest venue, Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv (60,000+ audience); made history at the 18th annual Mawazine Festival in Rabat, Morocco, setting an all-time attendance record with his headlining concert in front of 200,000 people; and performed for the first time ever in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in front of 25,000. He continued to take over throughout 2021 and 2022 with sold-outs in the United States, Europe, Latin American and the Middle East.
Since joining Sony Music Latin in 2015, Maluma has released seven albums Pretty Boy Dirty Boy (2015) , F.A.M.E. (2018), 11:11 (2019), Papi Juancho (2020), 7DJ (2021) , The Love & Sex Tape and The Love & Sex Tape Deluxe (2022) . Maluma is the youngest artist to simultaneously hold both the #1 and #2 spots on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart and only the sixth act to ever achieve the feat he has now repeated three times. To date Maluma has had twenty-two #1 singles on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart.
Maluma’s altruistic spirit is outstanding for the community work he leads with his foundation “El Arte de Los Sueños” based in Medellín, Colombia. Founded in 2016, the Foundation’s mission is to transform at-risk youth through art and music education. In 2021, Maluma acted in his first Disney animation movie, “Encanto,” 2022 Oscar winner for Best Animation Feature. Earlier this year, Maluma debuted in Hollywood with his starring role as “Bastian” in the movie “Marry Me” alongside Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson.

Behind Maluma’s Ambitious ‘Papi Juancho’ Tour: ‘We Gave the Industry a Needed Infusion’

Maluma ‘s newly announced 30-date U.S. and Puerto Rico arena tour, on sale this Friday, is the biggest and most ambitious 2021 U.S. tour announced post-pandemic in the United States, for any genre.
Set to kick off Sept. 1 in Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center and closing at Chicago’s Allstate Arena, the tour is big by any standard and signals confidence not just in Maluma but also in the live market overall.
“This is going to be Maluma’s biggest U.S. tour to date,” says his manager Walter Kolm of WK Entertainment. “Once doctor Anthony Fauci announced most of the population would be vaccinated by July, we wanted to give back to Maluma’s fans the full experience of his live show and bring back some joy. We are going out with a full production and all COVID protocols in place.”
Maluma Returns to Touring With Papi Juancho 2021 World Tour: See Dates
Trending on billboard.
“Maluma is good news,” adds Henry Cárdenas , CEO of Cárdenas Marketing Network (CMN), which is producing the tour. “We gave the industry a needed infusion. It’s good for the market, and we’re ready to go.”
Being “ready to go” in the age of COVID-19 implies many things. On the one hand, Cárdenas needed to get the green light from each of the 23 venues, which are responsible for implementing COVID-19 protocols, in order to route and announce their tour stops. These include Madison Square Garden in New York City and the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.
“They agreed that between now and September, things will have returned to normal,” he says.
But if things don’t “return to normal,” Cárdenas has a contingency plan that’s still built on the assumption that concerts will take place. Specifically, the Maluma tour is being booked in an in-the-round or 360 format, which allows for more seating. In Miami, for example, a 360 stage can accommodate 18,000 seats, which Maluma can handily sell out in that market.
Can You Tour in a Land Down Under? Strict Rules Are Making Australasia a Reality
If things are not back to “normal” and capacity needs to be reduced to accommodate social distancing, Cárdenas says “we can cut ticket sales by half, do two nights instead of one, and still make a profit. Whether we sell at 100% capacity or 50% capacity, the numbers will work.”
“It’s very ambitious,” says Steve Kirsner with the SAP Center in San Jose, California which is hosting the fourth date of the Papi Juancho tour. But, based on Santa Clara’s own COVID-19 regulatory framework, “We still don’t know if we will be able to do the show,” he says.
Kirsner said Cardenas was aware of the risk and added that he would be watching the state’s own vaccine efforts as the Sept. 9 date approaches. “If we can achieve a 70% vaccination rate by then, we’re optimistic we could move forward with the show,” Kirsner added, noting that the show’s 360-degree configuration “gives us options for social distancing” if needed.
Another entertainment executive working at a building booked for one of the dates of the tour, but not authorized to speak to the media, told Billboard , “We’ll find a way to make it work. We expect the tour to do really well, so if it’s sold out and there is a concern about COVID, we could also reschedule.”
How Maluma and The Weeknd Recorded & Released 'Hawai' in Three Weeks
The caveat, of course, is that this plan works with only select acts, like Maluma, who can sell out arenas and whose pricing is not exorbitant.
The last time Maluma toured the U.S., as part of his “11:11” trek in 2019 and early 2020, he played 36 shows and grossed $23 million, according to Boxscore, with an average ticket price of $90.39. This time around, prices will range from approximately $40 to $250, says Cárdenas, and he expects full houses, buoyed by a string of hit singles including “Hawai,” which last summer hit No. 1 on Billboard’s debut ex U.S. global chart. In addition, Maluma’s exposure from his upcoming film, Marry Me , alongside Jennifer Lopez (slated for 2022) will only heighten interest in his show.
While Maluma is the first major tour to be announced for 2021, it hasn’t been for lack of trying. Last year, Cárdenas was planning to announce on-sale dates for May with Ana Gabriel and Alejandro Sanz and had to postpone them because “the venues were not ready.” Plans were further complicated by the presidential elections, and later, by the events that took place in the Capitol. And of course, there’s the continued uncertainty of COVID-19.
“But now, it’s done,” says Cárdenas. “We can’t keep on postponing tours. In this case, management, Walter Kolm, the artist and CMN got together to do a tour with affordable prices. I hope more artists come to the table and work with us.”
