ABOUT THE BANDS:

With more than 110 million albums sold worldwide and two prestigious Diamond Awards in the U.S., 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame® inductees Def Leppard – Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums) — continue to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career the band has produced a series of classic ground-breaking albums that set the bar for generations of music fans and artists alike. The group’s spectacular live shows and arsenal of hits have become synonymous with their name, leading Def Leppard to be heralded as the world’s greatest live rock band. Def Leppard’s influential career includes numerous hit singles and ground-breaking multi-platinum albums—including two of the best-selling albums of all time, Pyromania and Hysteria, capturing the group’s legendary tracks, bringing together classic Leppard hits such as “Rock of Ages”, Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Foolin.” For the first time, in January 2018 Def Leppard debuted their full recording catalogue worldwide via streaming and download platforms. As they did with the original release of their records, Def Leppard dominated the worldwide charts again, which found their albums charting in the iTunes Top 10 in more than 30 countries, including Hysteria at #3 in the US, and #5 in the UK (36 years after the album had charted at No 1 in the Billboard charts). Def Leppard also had the #1, #2 and #3 records on the US catalogue albums chart. The band have gone on to amass a staggering 5.5 billion streams since 2018, reaching a younger 18-44 demographic that now represents 58% of their fanbase. Additionally, the band have garnered an impressive 15 million followers across their social media platforms. In May 2022, Def Leppard released their twelfth studio album Diamond Star Halos. The album debuted at #1 on the Apple and Amazon Music charts. The album also scored a Top 10 debut on North America’s Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, marking the band’s eighth Top 10 album of their career, and garnered a #1 debut on Billboard’s Hard Rock chart. Diamond Star Halos had numerous Top 10 chart entries globally including a Top 5 debut in the UK. Following the close of their historic 2018 co-headline stadium and arena run in North America, Def Leppard sold in excess of 1,000,000 tickets and the tour grossed over $100,000,000.00, a massive feat in today’s touring world. Def Leppard & Mötley Crüe topped that number yet again with another sold out North American stadium run in 2022 selling over 1.3 million tickets which grossed a staggering $173,500,000.00. As always, the group keep pushing the boundaries with their electrifying live shows.

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, the quartet —Vince Neil (vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums) and Mick Mars (guitars) —  has commandeered the rock pantheon for 41 years. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, garnered 7 USA platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, 6 Top 20 pop singles, 3  Grammy  nominations, 5  New York Times  best-selling books, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a  Netflix  hit movie. Mötley Crüe continues touring the world with John 5 on guitar as they push the visual limits of live performance.

Mötley Crüe  have amassed over 5 billion streams across digital platforms and the band has over 8 million followers on social media. Known for their iconic live performances, the band has sold-out countless tours across the globe in front of millions of fans with groundbreaking production highlights such as Tommy Lee’s drum-rollercoaster and Nikki Sixx’s flame-throwing-bass. They  pioneered the Las Vegas rock residency with a sold out run in 2012. Mötley Crüe’s hit songs  such as “Kickstart My Heart” and “Home Sweet Home” are frequently licensed by major brands such as  NASCAR, Dodge, Coldwell Banker, Carl’s Jr. and KIA  to name a few and their music can be heard on TV hit shows such as  Stranger Things  and  Cobra Kai  amongst many others.

The band’s biography “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band” became a New York Times best-seller in 2001 and has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Members of the band have authored 4 additional  New York Times  best-selling books since. In 2019 Netflix premiered “The Dirt” biopic based on the bestselling book which became a global hit movie scoring a 94% positive audience score on  Rotten Tomatoes . As a result, Mötley Crüe gained an entire new generation of young fans who discovered the band through the movie and further solidified their iconic status, relevance and the timelessness of their songwriting.

Fans of the band are also able to buy/rent  The Retaliators  movie on VOD platforms now; Nikki Sixx co-wrote the haunting theme song “21 Bullets”and Tommy Lee makes a cameo appearance in the rock-infused thriller movie. For more info go to  www.retaliatorsmovie.com

Mötley Crüe remains a huge global draw 41 years into their career and, in the summer of 2022 co-headlined a nearly sold out North American stadium tour with Def Leppard. The tour is set to travel to the rest of the world in 2023.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock audiences of all ages.  Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly, performing shows worldwide with the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.

His 2021 album “Detroit Stories,” inspired by his hometown’s legacy of rock, debuted on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart at #1, and his recent “Live From The Astroturf” video/audio release recently did the same on the UK’s Official Music Video Chart.

While preparing two new albums for 2023 release, Alice continues to do his nightly “Nights With Alice Cooper” syndicated radio show, and still manages to tour up to six months each year on the road.  Alice Cooper continues to bring his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real life shocking images.

Motley Crue + Def Leppard Add U.S. Dates to 2023 World Tour, Announce Alice Cooper as Special Guest

Motley Crue and Def Leppard had one of the biggest grossing tours of 2022, and they'll be back out on the road sharing their shows with the rest of the world in 2023. While shows in Mexico, South America and Europe have already been revealed, they also just announced a handful of shows for U.S. audiences as well. And they revealed that the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper will be joining them on their 2023 run on select dates.

Dubbed "The World Tour," things will get underway Feb. 10 and 11 with the previously announced shows in Atlantic City before jetting off to Mexico City for a Feb. 18 show that will keep them in Mexico and South America for a run. Then in May, "The World Tour" heads to the U.K. and Europe for dates carrying over into the summer.

Finishing out their run, the acts will return stateside to play six newly announced shows in the U.S. this August starting Aug. 5 in Syracuse, New York. All the dates for the Live Nation-backed run are listed below.

“After finally getting back on the road this past summer, we’re beyond thrilled to bring this massive tour to a global audience including some special dates in America!” said Joe Elliott of Def Leppard.

"We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can't wait to take the show around the globe with The WORLD Tour in 2023. Crüeheads get ready because we have a few amazing U.S. dates set for you!" Mötley Crüe said in a joint statement.

The new Motley Crue dates will also be the first to feature John 5 as a touring member of the band. The group announced earlier this year that Mick Mars , while remaining a member of Motley Crue, would be  retiring from touring with John 5 coming on board to fill in.

Be sure to check out complete ticketing details in local markets including VIP offerings. You can get your tickets via both the Motley Crue and Def Leppard websites. It should also be noted that Citi is the official card of "The World Tour" and Citi cardmembers will have access to pre-sale tickets starting Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 10AM local time through Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10PM local time. Visit the Citi Entertainment website for pre-sale details. All other tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Dec. 16 at 10AM local time.

motley crue world tour setlist 2023

Watch: MÖTLEY CRÜE Performs In Mexico City During 2023 'The World Tour' With DEF LEPPARD

MÖTLEY CRÜE played its third concert with guitarist John 5 Saturday night (February 18) at the 65,000-capacity Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City, Mexico. The show also marked the third date of the band's 2023 "The World Tour" with DEF LEPPARD , following two intimate gigs in Atlantic City, New Jersey a week ago.

MÖTLEY CRÜE 's setlist was as follows:

01. Wild Side 02. Shout At The Devil 03. Too Fast For Love 04. Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) 05. Saints Of Los Angeles 06. Live Wire 07. Looks That Kill 08. The Dirt (Est. 1981) 09. Rock And Roll, Part 2 / Smokin' In The Boys Room / Helter Skelter / Anarchy In The U.K. / Blitzkrieg Bop 10. Home Sweet Home 11. Dr. Feelgood 12. Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.) 13. Girls, Girls, Girls 14. Primal Scream 15. Kickstart My Heart

Fan-filmed video can be seen below.

MÖTLEY CRÜE held its first rehearsal with the former ROB ZOMBIE and MARILYN MANSON guitarist on January 23 in preparation for the band's shows with DEF LEPPARD . A short time later, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx took to his Twitter to write: "Well that was fucking epic.

"@john5guitarist walks into rehearsal and we just rip the set from top to bottom seamlessly. That took 90 minute's and then the next few hours we just laughed and told dumb rockstar war stories.

"@MotleyCrue DAY 1".

He followed that up with an Instagram Story post thanking the band's crew and gushing that "today sounded insane."

John 5 joined CRÜE as the replacement for founding guitarist Mick Mars , who announced last October he would no longer tour with the legendary rock act because of his long struggles with degenerative disease ankylosing spondylitis. Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that causes inflammation in the spine joints and ligaments and can lead to stiffness over time, according to the National Institute Of Arthritis And Musculoskeletal And Skin Diseases.

In October, Sixx praised John 5 , saying he "checks all the boxes" as Mars 's replacement following the latter's decision to retire from touring. Sixx commented on John 5 's addition to CRÜE while answering fan questions on Twitter . Asked why the band chose John 5 , who is one of the credited co-writers on the three original songs on CRÜE 's "The Dirt" soundtrack, Sixx said: "He checks all the boxes. He's a insane player. Has respect for our music, is funny as fuck and has history with us and we've written some pretty big hits together."

Sixx also addressed Mars 's announcement that he was retiring from touring, saying: "He's been a soldier along with us for 4 decades. We will continue to carrying our legacy to Generations of fans and honor Mick s request for us to keep touring as Motley Crue ."

In addition to co-writing the three songs on "The Dirt" , John 5 collaborated with Sixx and Desmond Child on Meat Loaf 's "The Monster Is Loose" . In 2021, Sixx and John 5 launched the L.A. RATS supergroup in which they were joined by Rob Zombie and drummer Tommy Clufetos .

The 71-year-old Mars — whose real name is Robert Alan Deal — served as MÖTLEY CRÜE 's lead guitarist since the band's inception in 1981.

In his statement, Mick said that he had decided to step back from live shows due to his "ongoing painful struggle" with ankylosing spondylitis and while he will continue to be a member of the band, he cannot "handle the rigors" of touring life.

Speculation about John 5 replacing Mars gained strength after the longtime ROB ZOMBIE guitarist failed to appear with the shock rocker at last year's Aftershock festival in Sacramento. Rob was instead joined on stage by returning guitarist Mike Riggs for the first time since 2006.

MÖTLEY CRÜE 's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD , POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place in the summer of 2020 but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After selling more than 1.3 million tickets in 2022, MÖTLEY CRÜE and DEF LEPPARD and are going global in 2023 with their co-headline "The World Tour" along with special guest Alice Cooper . After the launch of European and Latin American dates, additional U.S. shows will take place in August.

Produced by Live Nation , the U.S. leg of the world tour kicks off on August 5 in Syracuse, New York. The bands will bring their electrifying stage shows across America throughout the month of August including being the first-ever show at the H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe Reveal 2023 World Tour Dates with Alice Cooper

Tina Benitez-Eves

Updated:

Several months after wrapping up a massive North American tour with Poison and Joan Jett, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard are extending their time on the road with a string of additional concerts in the U.S. The pair’s world tour kicks off on February 10, 2023, with Alice Cooper in the supporting slot.

Videos by American Songwriter

In 2023, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe will travel to Mexico City and continue on throughout Latin America and Europe before heading to Glasgow, Scotland, in early July. The bands will return to America next August for a handful of newly announced dates.

“After finally getting back on the road this past summer, we’re beyond thrilled to bring this massive tour to a global audience including some special dates in America,” said Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott in a statement. Def Leppard were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.

“We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with The World Tour in 2023,” Mötley Crüe added. “Crüeheads get ready because we have a few amazing U.S. dates set for you.”

The band’s upcoming shows will be their first without founding guitarist Mick Mars, who retired from touring with Mötley Crüe more than a month ago. The World Tour will feature their new guitarist John 5 , who has been a fixture in Rob Zombie’s band since 2005.

The band announced Mars’  retirement from touring , citing his decades-long battle with ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic, inflammatory form of arthritis that has gradually impaired his movement, on Oct. 27, along with news of his replacement, John 5.

DEF LEPPPARD/MOTLEY CRUE End THE WORLD TOUR 2023 In MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard 2023.

Def Leppard played another show on The World Tour 2023 last night in Melbourne, Australia with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the new 53,359 capacity Marvel Stadium.

The first show in this city since November 2018.

The last of the three Australian shows to round out this tour.

Not very sunny but it was time to rock one last time.

Marvel-lous In Melbourne

Marvel Stadium in the Docklands area of Melbourne.

Def Leppard and Motley Crue in a 50,000 plus seater stadium once again just like the start of their joint touring in June 2022 in Atlanta, GA.

Almost 18 months later here they were at the end of this (mostly) stadium tour.

As Joe stated on his radio show over the last week, this is the last show to be played with Motley Crue and a third year together playing stadiums is it seems not going to happen after all.

Both bands decided to go out with a bang.

Motley Crue starting first in the early slot after the Virtual DJ.

Sadly the very back seats were not full but still a massive crowd there to witness the last night of the tour.

And as you can see and hear from the many videos the crowd were loud and in Joe's words it was "an amazing way to end this tour!".

The Last Show

Starting quite late at around 9:15-9:20 Def Leppard took to the Marvel Stadium stage in...marvellous form once more.

'Take What You Want' followed the Heroes/Album Intro and things got very loud.

The crowd in fine voice singing along to 'Let's Get Rocked' and 'Animal'.

This show taking place exactly 15 years to the day since they ended their comeback tour of Australia and New Zealand after what had been a 16 year gap.

The show continued all the way through to the big finale of 'Rock Of Ages' and 'Photograph'.

Show #45 for Def Leppard in 2023 and the 43rd show with Motley Crue.

Another spectacular end to another spectacular run of shows and another end of tour photo with Ross Halfin on stage.

Surviving Plane Incidents

As well as mentioning the end of the tour on his radio shows recently Joe also said the band had yet another plane related incident.

Like the Lytham England incident this one also involved not being able to land due to a storm when flying from Brisbane to Sydney.

There was also the drama in South America with the broken landing gear and Joe's altitude sickness.

Fortunately all incidents are now behind them. Read his quotes below.

2024 Touring?

Will they be back in arenas and amphitheatres in 2024? And/or a residency in Las Vegas?. Symphonic shows?.

We await the news of more shows/releases.

And of course will the studio recording of 'Heroes' be released having been heard before each show over the PA.

First Melbourne Stadium Show

As with the two previous shows this was another first for Melbourne.

One of many firsts.

The first show here in a stadium and the first ever outdoor shows in the city.

Apart from the tiny acoustic club show in 1995 (and the first show in 1984) all previous gigs were played in indoor arenas.

And since 1992 all major shows played in the same venue (See Below).

17 Song Setlist

The same 17 song setlist played once more.

All three 'Diamond Star Halos' songs played in Melbourne for the first time.

Melbourne History

The first visit to Melbourne took place in February 1984 at Earls Court The Venue during the Pyromania tour.

The second visit in July 1992 saw them perform In The Round at the National Tennis Centre over two nights on the Adrenalize tour.

They would not return to the venue until November 2008 on the Songs From The Sparkle Lounge tour under the new name of Rod Laver Arena.

A small acoustic show took place before this on the Vault tour in November 1995.

They then returned to Rod Laver Arena in October 2011 on the Mirrorball tour.

And once again in November 2015 as part of a three date Australian tour.

They played the last show here in November 2018 at Rod Laver Arena on the Hysteria & More tour.

Last night's show was the 9th overall performance in Melbourne.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in - somewhere, sometime in 2024 (still to be confirmed/announced).

The Joe Elliott Show - 11th November 2023 Quotes

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week it's coming to you all the way from Sydney in Australia. And can I just say we're staying at the Park Hyatt. It's an insanely fantastic hotel. And my room is looking straight at the Sydney Opera House. What an incredible way to end this tour. We did however fly in from Brisbane through an insane storm. It was pretty freaky. In fact it was pretty vicious. Just like this crowd. This is The Struts."

"Yes I highly recommend if you're on an air plane and you're stuck in a cloud going round in circles 'cause they can't land 'cause of the weather. Best not to look out the window. Yes watch something on your laptop, because that's exactly what I did. Take my mind off it. We did however come through and land safely thank goodness."

"And that my friends, all the way from Sydney in Australia, is about it for this week. In fact by the time we get together next week, this tour that Def Leppard have been on with Motley Crue for the best part of 18 months will be over. And we shall be taking a little bit of a break."

The Joe Elliott Show - 4th November 2023 Quote

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. And greetings from Tokyo in Japan. Yes that's where I is right now. We have five shows left with Motley Crue. This is the last leg of a world tour that has lasted 18 months. So this is a bit of a celebration. We're really looking forward to these last five shows. It's gonna fly by. And then we're gonna miss those guys like crazy 'cause they've been such a blast to tour with.

"Next week I shall be coming to you all the way from Sydney in Australia. Crikey!.
