I guess I will try again tomorrow, and if doesn't work will just show up with out being checked in! We cruise out of Southampton England on March 8. I also tried on my Iphone, but there don't even get a picture screen...just blank.
I managed, after many tries, to get my picture taken using Chrome on my iPhone. A truly horrific photo with a "how can I get this %*&@ thing to work" look on my face.
No such luck for my wife. Finally, after many many more tries, now using the app, my wife's picture was taken. But then the app wanted to scan her passport (I had already entered all her passport info). No go. After many many minutes, I cancelled the passport scan and because of that, lost her photo.
I gave up and emailed my TA in frustration. She was able to get my boarding pass and luggage tags emailed to me. We'll deal with the photo at the port.

the problem is without being able to load a picture it won't complete the check in. I assume that isn't a problem, just showing up without being checked in...just frustrating (especially when wife took her pic and 5 minutes later I coudn't..using same device!

I was finally able to get myself checked in. Tried my wife and Son on 2 different phones, a laptop, and a Microsoft Surface with no luck. Incredibly frustrating.
I had the same problem as you guys. I did manage to have the picture taken on the app but then it wanted me to scan my passport and that didn't work too well. I decided to use my Chromebook instead and was able to input passport info manually, but when it came to the picture it was a no-go. I finally gave up and called MSC and the pleasant agent said that the picture will be taken at the port and completed my check-in and promptly emailed it to me. (And I wasn't even put on hold!)
Brighton Line
The picture will and most likely be retaken at the Port. In fact almost everything can be done at the port. I have never gotten my picture accepted by the app and always done at the check-in with the port contractor that handles the check-in. I even had my picture retaken by ship security because they didn't like it when I first scanned onto the ship even though it was done at the port.
Gawd, MSC website and app are the absolute worst. I can't even enter my address at the start of the check-in process. It doesn't recognize my zip code. And there is no way for me to type in my City and State.
I called them and they manually entered my address and issued my ticket and luggage tags. But, because I didn't complete the check-in online, I can't add any packages. They don't even show up as options.
Now I'm trying to take a photo with the app. It told me my face needs to be more illuminated. 😐 🤬 What, I need to bleach my face? And there wasn't even a button to take the photo anyway.

There is an orange button at the top of the address page marked "search." Click on that and it will fill out the address (who knew?) But since you called MSC and they entered your information manually and issued your edocs there is no need for you to take a picture, they will take it at the port.
@suometar The problem is the way the form is set up. I enter my zip code and push the search button, but it finds nothing, because the virgin islands just isn't in their database, and there's no way for me to type it in. I went through the same problem applying for a Brazilian visa. It took weeks of daily emails before they added it.

Advice needed about adding or uploading security photo on Medallion class app, please.
By Anna K , February 2, 2022 in Princess Cruises
Recommended Posts
I have uploaded the medallion class app on my phone which is the latest version accepted for android phones. Unfortunately, the issue is when I take a photo or try to upload an existing one which is already saved on my phone the app will not accept it. Just been on RCL cruise recently and has no issues with saving security photo on their app so was surprise when I got a message 'Unable to save the information. Please try again later' on the Medallion class app.
Unfortunately, my backup option which is my iPad is an older iOS version so was unable to download the app to upload the photo.
Wondering if anyone had any tips about saving the security photo, does it have to be specific size or format before I contact Princess support team.
Thanking in you advance and I appreciate any advice given.

Don't worry about it, and don't waste hours of your time trying to get help on the phone.
They can always take a picture of you when you first board the ship.
Thank you CineGraphic.
It took numerous tries for me to upload my passport and I still can’t upload our profile pictures, I get a similar error message as you. Seems the Medallion app needs a lot of work. It’s not a good experience at all.
I haven't used the APP or smart phone for anything Princess. It was fast to accomplish everything at the pier and get my picture taken. Stop stressing over the inept App.
Hi Alanr204, yes the app is very sensitive and glitchy. I was just going to leave it and get our photos taken at the port instead. However, my husband manage to upload the photos on his phone instead.
Hi Cruzsnooze, thank you for the response it is much appreciated.
travelin.sisters
I had to use a newer phone, wouldn't work on my older (but only 2 years old not ancient andriod)...I was going to suggest trying another person's phone but I see you did...have a lovely trip
You might try turning the phone off and back on are deleting and re-installing the app if you haven’t tried that You can also just wait and get the photo taken at boarding. Don’t let it stress or worry you!
Thank you for the suggestions travelin.sisters and Torfamm. I was going to wait and have our security photos taken at the port when we check in. However, my husband downloaded the app on his phone and he managed to
upload the photos.
Same thing.....got an error message 😡

As far as the photo, agree with @CineGraphic As you are new here, I think you will find him a source of sound advice.
In the larger issue, received a call two days ago from Princess saying we would not be allowed to board unless we got to Green on OceanReady.
I called Princess and got a call back from Medallion. The tech confirmed that for one reason or another, many people aren't completing pre-boarding. He said not to worry about it and bring hard copies and QR codes to the pier and check in as it used to be done. (My app issues didn't get fixed.) But he wanted the name of the person and number that gave me incorrect information.
The elephant in the room is that the Medallion app is utter garbage, but the brainchild of the current president of Princess.
Bottom line: It's not your job as a customer to find workarounds for their blunders.
The ap does not like the default file name my phone gave it. I had to rename the file to an alpha only, and then it uploaded.
Could never get the selfie function to work.

You would think that princess' / accenture's rigorous testing would have found this.

I was hoping that would work...but alas...nope. I renamed the file Princess LOL.
I have tried a close up picture, further away, a blank background, using the web version and the app version. I also tried the changing of the file name. Any other ideas that may have worked for others that I can try?

Sorry, I did this on an iPhone and didn't have any issues. Took me a while to figure out the "profile" and "security" photo were two separate options. The app itselfr was still a buggy as it would try to open windows and just fail, forcing me to close it.

I have an Android. My profile picture isn't an issue...that worked fine. I have gotten the app to work for dining reservations and a few other things, but I just can't get it to do the security picture. I will contact Princess about it.

Are you doing a selfie or using one that's already on the phone? I presume the steps are the same: 1 select user 2. Select photo (camera or file) 3. Upload and done.
Did you try uploading the same pic you used for the profile one?
FYI - I found that I had to shut down the app a couple times to get it to work right. (I work in IT and our favorite question: Did you turn it off then back on again?)

Selfie doesn't work (and yes I made sure my phone "allows access to the camera for Princess". So I have taken about 10 different pictures in various positions (including some with smiles and some without). Yup, tried the profile one too. I have even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I have worked with computers since the late 80's...rebooting is always the answer LOL...but...I will try a few things again because why not...I can't really think of anything else that I could be doing wrong at this point.
Thank you for replying...I appreciate it. Maybe at some point I will get it to work.
If you can't do it, I would think Princess, like all the other lines, will take your picture at the port.
Just now, deliver42 said: If you can't do it, I would think Princess, like all the other lines, will take your picture at the port.
Problem with that is you can't get access to your digital boarding pass then...which just makes things go much faster at check in (and when you are talking Vancouver cruiseport, you do everything you can get make that go smoother)
When we did the setup we used the selfie for the security pic. It gave us an outline of a person and we just stood with a blank white(ish) wall behind us. Worked fine. At that time we were unable to use any pre-taken image from our phone. We couldn't even use a pre-existig pic for our profile pic. If that's changed maybe I'll update the app (yet again) and use a pic from my phone. As it is, my profile pic is "Pig" from Pearls Before Swine .

It won't do the selfie one...every time I select "camera", it just goes back to the screen where I select which passenger to choose.
I will really have to try again closer to when we (supposedly) sail in May. As it stands, this is my profile pic:
Edit: Wowie Zowie! I just used the new online link on the Princess site and it let me change to pics from my phones gallery. Sweet! Many thanks again to @azbirdmom for making me aware of the new link!

FAQ - SAFETY ON BOARD
Safety security and code of conduct.
You can find more information on our Guest Conduct Policy Here.
How is Safety on board managed ?
When and where are the drills held.
Upon embarkation in the main ports, all guests are requested to participate in a one-hour safety drill conducted in the 6 languages.
The Safety drills involve the entire crew and simulate the evacuation procedure, with guests requested to take their respective life jackets from their cabins and go to the assigned Muster Station where they receive additional safety instructions. In secondary ports, before the ship's departure, a detailed safety briefing is also held for all newly-embarked guests.
The safety briefing is normally held in a dedicated area (usually the theatre or a Muster Station) and does not involve all the crew, being conducted by a group of social hostesses and animators that helps guests to familiarise themselves with the safety equipment and procedures.
The Safety briefings and drills are all fully compliant with the strict SOLAS requirements.
Are there any maps or other instructions?

Cruise Passenger, 23, Reportedly Falls Overboard After Texting Wife He Felt Seasick
A 23-year-old passenger is presumed dead after falling from the MSC Euribia cruise ship, according to multiple reports .
Liam Jones, a social work student from Scotland, was last seen on March 16 while on a seven-day tour cruise from Southampton to Amsterdam with his family, the Daily Record reports .
Jones’ wife, Sophia Mcphee, 20, told the outlet that Jones texted her right before his disappearance to tell her he was feeling seasick.
“He’s just gone. I’m never going to see him again,” Mcphee told the Daily Record . “I’m devastated. I have so many questions, and I’m not getting any answers to what’s happened.”
Mcphee told U.K.’s Metro that Jones’ sister broke the news to her on the phone and explained that security camera footage showed Jones falling overboard.
“She said there had been an accident and Liam ‘wasn’t coming back.’ She then said she had seen CCTV and he’d gone overboard,” Mcphee recalled.
But Mcphee said she hasn’t been updated on the investigation since hearing about his disappearance. She told the Daily Record that the last time she had seen Jones was on March 14 when he traveled to visit family in Glasgow before they boarded the cruise the following day.
“I’ve been trying to get in contact with the MSC since Monday, but it’s been a headache,” Mcphee told the Daily Record. “They’re not getting back to me.”
MSC Cruises didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s requests for comment.
Police reportedly boarded the cruise ship on March 22 to investigate the incident upon its return to Southampton, Metro reports.
The cruise line suspects the man intentionally went overboard, Fox10 News reports .
In a statement to the Daily Record, MSC Cruises said it is “deeply saddened” by the news of Jones’ disappearance.
“A passenger on board MSC Euribia was reported missing, who we believe intentionally went overboard, on 17 March as the ship sailed from Hamburg to Rotterdam,” the cruise line said.
“The authorities have been informed and have been on board the vessel. We are deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time,” the statement continued. “Out of respect for the family’s privacy we will refrain from disclosing any additional information.”

Scotland. #1. Posted January 22, 2022. Hi - any advice appreciated. Our cruise is 91 days away and I went online tonight to do our web checkin. All was fine with the form other than uploading or taking a security photo. The guidance is pretty basic and at first I got a message the files were too big - 250k max.
captainkurt. 25. January 11, 2023. #5. Posted April 10, 2023. I was able to upload our security photos yesterday. However, I am having an issue with the passport data that I enter on the Web Check-In page. The information that I enter and save on the Web Check-In page is correct.
