Taylor’s critically acclaimed album, Midnights, is the fastest selling album of her career. Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour will be supported by (each artist’s dates are listed on the graphic below) Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN . It will be presented by Capital One and produced by Taylor Swift Touring and promoted by the Messina Touring Group (MTG).  

To ensure tickets to Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour get into the hands of fans, Taylor Swift has partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program.  Fans can register HERE for the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan starting now through Wednesday, November 9 at 11:59PM ET. Registered fans who receive a code will have exclusive access to purchase tickets on Tuesday, November 15 starting at 10AM local venue time. Only fans that have received a unique code will have the chance to purchase tickets starting at $49 up to $449. In addition, VIP packages will start at $199 up to $899 on a first come, first served basis.

About Gracie Abrams

Since making her debut with “Mean It” in October 2019, Gracie Abrams has emerged as one of the most compelling songwriters of her generation.  She is a consummate songwriter who names iconic figures like Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift as her most formative influences.

NEW YORK  -   Iconic music star Taylor Swift is coming to our area this weekend for The Eras Tour . 

Her three-show run at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., starts Friday, May 26th.

Singer-Songwriter Phoebe Bridgers is opening for all three shows. Pop artist Gayle is singing on Friday, Gracie Adams on Saturday, and former Taylor Swift backup dancer Owenn joins on Sunday.

• The shows at MetLife begin around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 26th, Saturday, May 27th, and Sunday, May 28th

Taylor Swift will launch her big Eras Tour in March, with national tour dates set through August and to include two shows in both the New York metro area and in Los Angeles, where the jaunt will wrap.

Swift revealed the tour dates today on Instagram. International dates will be announced later.

Swift also announced that her opening acts on the tour will include Paramore, Haim — featuring Licorice Pizza star Alana Haim — Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Muna, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn. “Feeling like the luckiest person alive because I get to take these brilliant artists out on tour with me,” she wrote. “I can’t WAIT to see your gorgeous faces out there. It’s been a long time coming.”

The tour kicks off March 18 in Glendale, AZ, where Swift launched her Reputation Tour in 2018. Over the spring and summer, she will play 20 cities for 27 dates, including May 26 and 27 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, outside NYC, and wrapping up for a two-night stand Aug 4-5 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale to the general public November 18.

The Eras Tour is being produced in-house by Taylor Swift Touring and promoted by the Messina Touring Group.

Swift is riding high this week, claiming every Top 10 slot on the Billboard Hot 100 after her album Midnights debuted at No. 1 with 1.58 million equivalent units sold. Released on October 21, it’s her 11th No. 1 long-player and the biggest week for any set since Adele’s  25  debuted with 3.5 million in December 2015.

Critics are always bellyaching about the death of the monoculture—we no longer consume the same cultural objects at the same time or in the same way, and as a result we feel disconnected, adrift, lost. The mind-boggling inescapability of Taylor Swift ’s latest endeavor—a sixty-date stadium romp known as the Eras Tour—offers one enormous exception. The tour recaps all ten of Swift’s studio albums, presenting each as an epoch, with its own elaborate sets, costumes, and vibes. (The scope of the show reinforces the hysterical demands on twenty-first-century pop stars: be something new every time you show up, or don’t show up at all.) Swift cancelled her previous tour, in 2020; the sweeping concept of this one, combined with the long delay to see her live again, guaranteed that the demand for tickets would be preposterously high. Ticketmaster bungled the rollout so badly that the company received a public talking-to from Swift herself. Not long afterward, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to investigate whether Live Nation Entertainment, which owns both Ticketmaster and many major concert venues, has an illegal monopoly. The tour, which concludes in November, could, by some foggy estimates, make Swift a billionaire.

I attended a show at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey. It was a warm Saturday evening in May, and I wore a cardigan. My daughter, who is about to turn two, had picked out my socks, which had cats all over them—a little wink to the fans, I thought. (Swift loves cats.) Let me tell you: no one was looking at my socks. This crowd had made it fashion. The fits were shimmering and often bespoke. The eye makeup was elaborate. The pavement outside the stadium was dappled with thousands of fallen sequins. Strangers were mouthing the word “slay” to each other. Forearms were wrapped in bracelets featuring Swift-isms spelled out in lettered beads. I was seated in front of two people dressed as fully decorated Christmas trees. (Swift was brought up on a Christmas-tree farm in Pennsylvania.) The crowd was ecstatic, doting, and very sober. The line for chicken fingers was, per my calculation, fifteen times longer than the line for beer.

Swift has for years been a savant of what I might call “you guys” energy, a chatty, ersatz intimacy that feels consonant with the way we exist on social media—offering a glimpse of our private lives, but in a deliberate and mediated way. When Swift addressed the seventy-four thousand people who had gathered to see her, I felt as though she was not only speaking directly to me but confessing something urgent. After one long applause break, she said, “There’s nothing I can say that can accurately thank you for doing that. You just, like, screamed your head off for an hour and a half. That was insane.” Maybe it’s her savvy use of what feels like the singular “you.” When I attempted to explain this feeling to other people, it sounded as though I had been conned. Yet I’d prefer to think of it as an act of kindness: Swift sees each of us (literally—we were given light-up bracelets upon entering) and wants us to know it.

On TikTok , fans discuss each concert with a fervor and knowledge that reminds me of the grizzled heads who spend years analyzing old Grateful Dead set lists. Swift’s show is famously long—more than three hours. By the end, mothers were carrying out sleeping children. I found Swift’s stamina astounding. (She is onstage the entire time, save costume changes.) Some eras translate better than others to the shape and echo of a football stadium. The lusty bite of “Reputation,” for instance, overpowered the aching ballads of “evermore.” There were some nice surprises: Phoebe Bridgers came out to sing “Nothing New,” a wounded song from “Red (Taylor’s Version),” and the Bronx-born rapper Ice Spice performed on a smug remix of “Karma.” Toward the end of the set, Swift does two acoustic songs, on piano or guitar. It’s the only part of the show that reliably changes. That night, she performed “Holy Ground” and “False God.” The latter is one of Swift’s most carnal songs. “I know heaven’s a thing / I go there when you touch me,” she sings.

Swift’s voice has become richer and stronger over the years; its clarity and tone foreground her lyrics. Played on piano, absent the R. & B. production of the studio version, “False God” felt, suddenly, like a reflective song about resigning yourself to failure. Love and sex are a trap, its lyrics suggest; never trust the fantasy sold to you by pop songs:

We might just get away with it The altar is my hips Even if it’s a false god.

Swift is sometimes described as “professional,” which feels like a pejorative—it suggests decorum, efficiency, steadiness, and various other qualities that, in general, have nothing to do with great art. She has perhaps been unfairly dismissed as too capable and too practiced, an overachieving, class-president type. I’ll admit that I’ve struggled, at times, with the precision of her work. If you’re someone who seeks danger in music, Swift’s albums can feel safe; it’s hard to find a moment of genuine musical discord or spontaneity. Over time, though, I’ve come to understand this criticism of Swift as tangled up with some very old and poisonous ideas about genius, most of which come from men slyly rebranding the terrible behavior of other men. (Swift sees it this way, too. On “The Man,” she imagines life without misogyny: “I’d be a fearless leader / I’d be an alpha type.”)

The intense parasocial bond that Swift’s fans feel with her—the singular, desperate throb of their devotion—can swing from charming to troublesome. When Swift débuts new costumes, as she did in New Jersey, a wave of glee washes over Twitter. But when she puts out a new song (“You’re Losing Me”) with lyrics that suggest romantic turmoil (“And I wouldn’t marry me either / A pathological people pleaser”), it can provoke vitriol—in this case toward the actor Joe Alwyn, Swift’s former partner. (Weeks earlier, Swifties were outraged after one of Alwyn’s co-stars posted a photo of him on a scooter, which was read as an egregious slight because Swift has been in a public battle with a music executive named Scooter Braun.) It’s hard enough to understand a relationship when you’re inside it; trying to piece together a narrative via song lyrics and a few paparazzi photos seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of human relations. Swift was recently rumored to be dating Matty Healy , of the British rock band the 1975. Healy is, depending on whom you ask, either an irascible provocateur or a disgusting bigot. Some of Swift’s fans deemed him a racist torture-porn enthusiast, owing to comments he made on a podcast, and groused about him after he and Swift were photographed together. Though it would be easy, and maybe even correct, to dismiss this sort of hullabaloo as ultimately innocuous—just people being hyperbolic online, in the same way one might tweet, say, “Taylor Swift can run me over with a tractor”—the swarm-and-bully tactic feels at odds with Swift’s music, which has always lionized the misunderstood underdog. Maybe Healy deserves it. Alwyn, at least, seems innocent. This is the obvious flip side of Swift’s purposeful cultivation of intimacy. From afar, her fans’ possessiveness appears both mighty and frightening.

Still, the intensity of her fandom manifests so differently offline. Swift’s performance might be fixed, perfect (it has to be, of course, to carry a tour so technically ambitious), but what happens in the crowd is messy, wild, benevolent, and beautiful. I was mostly surrounded by women between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five. As Swift herself once sang, on “22,” that particular stretch into post-adolescence is marked by feeling “happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time.” The camaraderie in the audience invited a very particular kind of giddiness. My best friend from childhood had accompanied me, and when she returned from the concession stand carrying two Diet Pepsis so enormous that they required her to bear-hug them for safe transport, I started laughing harder than I have laughed in several years.

As the night went on, I began to understand how Swift’s fandom is tied to the primal urge to have something to protect and be protected by. In recent years, community, one of our most elemental human pleasures, has been decimated by COVID , politics, technology, capitalism. These days, people will take it where they can get it. Swift often sings of alienation and yearning. She has an unusual number of songs about being left behind. Not by the culture—though I think she worries about that, too—but by someone she cared about who couldn’t countenance the immensity of her life. In her world, love is conditional and frequently temporary. (“You could call me ‘babe’ for the weekend,” she sings on “ ’tis the damn season,” a line I’ve always found profoundly sad.) On the chorus of “The Archer,” she sings, “Who could ever leave me, darling? / But who could stay?” Toward the end of the song, she adds a more hopeful line: “You could stay.”

As she sang that “you” on Saturday, she raised an arm and pointed directly to the audience. Swift has written many songs that describe her devotion as a punishment to be endured. “I love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?” she bellows on “Cruel Summer.” She believes that the force of her affection will push people away. But her fans have remained. They have buoyed her; in turn, she has given them everything. ♦

Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour set list features a surprise song (or two), so far performed during a mini acoustic set, on each date of the the superstar’s trek, which kicked off in March 2023.

Guitar in hand and making her way to the end of the stage’s catwalk at March 17’s Eras kickoff in Glendale, Ariz., Swift revealed her intentions for the acoustic portion of her long-awaited live show. She’ll perform a surprise song that will not be played again on this tour — probably.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? So that when you heard one on this tour, you would know it’s the only time that I was going to play it in the acoustic set, unless — caveat — unless I mess it up so badly,” she said with a small laugh, “that I have to do it over again in some other city. Send your best wishes towards me that I don’t do that.”

The Eras Tour is her first real tour in five years, and the first time the prolific songwriter is getting to perform selections from Lover , Folklore , Evermore and Midnights to sold-out stadium crowds.

Eras Tour night one introduced a career-spanning, whopping 44-song setlist with a runtime of more than three hours, with Swift playing anywhere from one to eight tracks from all 10 of her full-length studio albums. “I was thinking about the first one I would play for you,” Swift said at the very first Eras Tour concert, to a crowd of fans who were still gloriously spoiler-free about what was in store for the rest of the show. “I was thinking about what song to play first, and I was thinking about how one of the songs that I wrote with you in mind during the pandemic was one of the first songs I wrote for Folklore , and it was me writing about how badly I craved the connection that I feel from the care that you have directed in my way. I’m trying to tell you I love you, and I’m babbling,” she noted. Swift tried again: “I was trying to think of sort of an eloquent way to say that I love you and I need your attention all the time, and I came up with ‘I’m a mirrorball.'” After the wordy intro, Swift begins singing “Mirrorball” at the 2:17 timestamp in the video above.

"Tim McGraw"

“I was thinking about tonight and how special this is,” Swift explained on the opening night of The Eras Tour, and then added, “So I thought it might be kind of fun to play the very first song I ever put out.” The crowd gladly sang along to her pretty piano rendition of her debut single, nearly 17 years after it was first released. “Tim McGraw” was the only track from her first album to make the Eras setlist in Arizona.

"This Is Me Trying"

“I keep forgetting what key it’s in — one second. It’s lost all concept to me,” Swift joked before launching into the emotional Folklore track as the first of two surprise songs, at the second show of The Eras Tour.

Swift brought the Red album opener down to its roots as a piano ballad in Glendale. Her delicate vocals were echoed by a stadium of thousands joining in, making for a chilling moment of connection between a singer-songwriter and her fans.

"Coney Island"

A pretty long speech came before the first-ever solo (and first-ever at all) live performance of the heart-wrenching Evermore highlight, originally a duet with with Matt Berninger.

“Any time I’m gonna talk about or even reference another artist, I feel inclined to tell you that if they’re not here, they’re not here,” she warned the crowd. “No one else is here. You are stuck with me. It’s only me. But I am gonna talk about another artist. I just feel like, you know, stadiums are huge and it’s important to really communicate, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m gonna talk about another artist who has an album that just came out that is so incredible. The National just had an album come out. This band has influenced me beyond my ability to verbalize how much they’ve influenced me — just lyrically, their ability to set a scene, their ability to tell a story. And obviously, Aaron Dessner is in The National and he has completely changed my life. I was lucky enough to be able to write a song with them for their new album, which is called the First Two Pages of Frankenstein . Check it out, stream it, buy it on vinyl. I love them so much. They’ve been so kind to me. So, I’m not gonna sing the song that we have on this new album — it’s called ‘The Alcott’ — check that out, though. But I am gonna sing ‘Coney Island.'”

"The Best Day"

Tears had to have been aplenty throughout the stadium on Mother’s Day as Swift told the story of “The Best Day” and performed it on piano.

“I secretly recorded a song on Fearless ,” she told the crowd, recalling being 16 or 17 at the time and explaining that it was very tricky to get this project done without her mother knowing. “It was very sneaky and fun,” she said.

“I wrote this song just compiling these sort of core childhood memories I had of not just her as a mother but her as a friend,” Swift said. After playing the sweet song for her mom for the first time, while showing her the video of personal family footage set to the track that she edited together herself, she asked her mom, “Did you like the song?” “It’s such a beautiful song. Where did you find it? It sounds exactly like the things we went through” Mom replied, not even comprehending that her own daughter would write a song about the two of them. “I wrote it and recorded it secretly,” Taylor told her. “It is our memories. That’s about us.” Needless to say, there were plenty of tears that day, too.

For the first time in Eras Tour history, Swift performed both surprise songs on guitar. That’s because her piano took on a life of its own after getting damaged by rain during the show the night prior, causing Swift to last-minute switch over to guitar for “Red.”

“Literally, it was like a water park under the stage,” she recalled to fans at the May 21 show. “This has clearly broken my keyboard. It was literally underwater — I don’t know how any of the instruments were working last night.”

Midnights is the most recent album to drop before Taylor’s Eras Tour, so it’s no surprise that it takes up a good portion of the setlist. When Swift played the opening chords of “Exile” from 2020’s  Folklore  for the second surprise song, the crowd cheered wildly and started searching the stage for her duet partner  Bon Iver . After all, the only other time Swift has performed the song live is alongside Justin Vernon when she  popped up during a Bon Iver concert in London  last year. Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Verified Fan Onsale is using registration to ensure more tickets get into the hands of fans who want to go to the shows, not buyers looking to resell them.

Only fans that receive an email confirming their access will be able to join the queue for this Verified Fan Onsale. Fans who are selected will receive additional instructions on Wednesday, November 8. All others will be put on a waitlist.

Tickets for these shows will be in high demand, therefore, a limited number of fans will get access to the Verified Fan Onsale while others will be placed on the waitlist as described below. Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

Registration is open from Thursday, November 2 at 8:00 a.m. PT through Saturday, November 4 at 5:00 p.m. PT .

How Will This Sale Work?

Ticketmaster is helping artists give their fans a better opportunity to purchase tickets by creating an extra line of defense against bots and professional resellers who are looking to sell tickets for profit. The process includes three steps:

Step 1: Registration

By registering for the Verified Fan Onsale, you are letting us know that you’re interested in purchasing tickets. From the registration page, you sign into or create your account, select your preferred show(s) and register your email and phone number. Once completed, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email letting you know that we got your request. It’s quick, easy and free to sign up.

Step 2: Verification

Next, Ticketmaster vets each request by confirming it belongs to an individual — not a bot — and that it hasn’t been tied to irregular behaviors that could be a sign of a professional seller attempting to access the sale.

Step 3: Access Code or Waitlist

When demand exceeds availability, a limited number of registered Verified Fans will get access to the sale and others will be placed on a waitlist. You’ll receive an email on Wednesday, November 8 letting you know which group you’re in. If selected to get access to the sale, you’ll receive a unique access code and purchase link via text message the day prior to your Verified Fan Onsale.

While no system can guarantee that all fans will get tickets to the show(s) they’re interested in, the Verified Fan program works to significantly block bots and professional resellers from competing against fans for tickets during the sale.

No. Access means you have an opportunity to join the Verified Fan sale but it is not a guarantee you’ll be able to purchase tickets. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

If I received access to the Verified Fan sale, how do I purchase tickets?

• At the specified time, click the link you were sent.
• You’ll enter the Smart Queue. To keep your place in line, stay on the page and don’t refresh. Do not open more than one browser window.
• Once it’s your turn, shop for tickets by using your unique access code. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis while currently-available inventory lasts and aren’t guaranteed. Each event has a strict four (4) ticket limit per customer.

When will the Waiting Room open?

The Waiting Room will open 30 minutes before the designated Verified Fan sale window begins. When the Verified Fan sale begins, fans in the Waiting Room are assigned a spot in line. Once you reach the end of the queue, you’ll have an opportunity to shop for tickets. Stay on the page and don’t refresh or you may lose your spot in line.

You must use the same Ticketmaster account that you registered with to join the Waiting Room.

How do I join the queue?

What can I do to prepare?

If you’ve been selected to participate in the Verified Fan sale, we recommend that you prepare by signing into your Ticketmaster account before the Verified Fan sale to make sure your billing information is up to date. This will help speed up the checkout process after you’ve selected the tickets you want to buy.

My link isn’t working. What should I do?

If you registered and received access to shop for tickets through text or email from Ticketmaster, but the link’s not working, try checking these things first:

• Make sure the event is on sale. Links are sent out before the event goes on sale but won’t work until the event is actually on sale.
• You must be signed in with the same email address you used to register for the Verified Fan sale.

Will there be other ways to buy Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets?

The only official way to get Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets is through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan Onsale or through certain other limited tour-sponsored onsale opportunities for specific shows. Be on the lookout for information on these other opportunities where available.

I got an email saying I’m on the waitlist. What does that mean?

If you’re currently on the waitlist, stay tuned — you may still have an opportunity to shop for tickets.

When there are more fans than there are tickets, a limited number of fans will get access to join at the start of the Verified Fan sale and others will be placed on the waitlist.

More fans may get access to join the Verified Fan sale based on ticket availability. If you’re selected, you will receive a text with a link to join the Verified Fan sale. Can I register more than once to increase the likelihood that I am able to purchase tickets ?

Registering more than once for a specific event does not increase the likelihood that you are able to purchase tickets . If you want to change the event date you selected after you’ve registered, you can make those edits while the registration window is still open. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

I received a confirmation email after I registered, what does that mean?

The email is simply to inform you that we have received your registration and will be working to verify your account. It doesn’t guarantee that you will be selected for the Verified Fan sale access. A second email will be sent on Wednesday, November 8 letting you know if you will get access to the sale or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist. If selected, the day prior to your Verified Fan sale you’ll receive a text message with a unique access code and link to use.

I’m a real fan of this artist, and not a bot or reseller. Why didn’t I get access?

Selection is not a measure of how big a fan anybody is. Sometimes there simply aren’t enough tickets for everyone. When demand exceeds availability, a limited number of fans get access to the Verified Fan sale, and others must be placed on the waitlist. The number of fans who receive access depends on the number of tickets currently available — this is done to help create a less crowded ticket shopping experience for fans.

How will I know if I’ve been granted access to the Verified Fan sale after I’ve been placed on the waitlist?

If selected, you will receive a text with a unique access code and link to the ticket sale. In the event of any SMS/texting delivery issues, we’ll email your unique access code and link to the email address associated with your Ticketmaster account that you used to register. Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis while currently-available inventory lasts. Taylor Swift Performs Surprise Mashup of Three ‘1989’ Songs at 89th Eras Tour Show

The 14-time Grammy winner blended “Welcome to New York,” “Clean” and vault track “Say Don’t Go” on piano

Taylor Swift is showing that her 1989 album never goes out of style!

At her 89th Eras Tour show, the “Style” singer, 34, performed a surprise mashup of three songs from 1989 (Taylor's Version) for a sold-out crowd at Sweden’s Friends Arena in Stockholm on Saturday, May 18.

Fans shared videos on X (formerly Twitter) of Swift in an orange dress playing an acoustic mashup — of “Welcome to New York,” “Clean” and vault track “Say Don't Go” — on piano.

Several fans praised the singer for her song choices, including one who wrote on X that the medley “is nothing less than a love letter to her fans.” The fan added, “She is asking US to never go. The lights may be bright, but they'll never blind her. With us, she can be finally clean.”

Swift returned to the stage in Sweden after she was seen on a romantic getaway in Lake Como , Italy, with boyfriend Travis Kelce during a break between Eras Tour shows. The couple was spotted touring the city on a boat, taking late-night strolls, hugging and kissing.

“On the first night, they went for a long walk around the lake late at night [between 11 and midnight],” a source told PEOPLE about Swift and Kelce, 34. “It was very romantic. At times they would walk hand in hand. They would also exchange a kiss every so often.” 

This weekend, Swift will wrap up her third and final Eras Tour show in Stockholm on May 19 before jetting off to perform in Lisbon, Portugal , next weekend.

The European leg of Swift’s tour is much different than her previous concerts in the U.S. and Latin America, as she added a section covering her new The Tortured Poets Department album. With the addition of new songs from her 11th album, she cut out some music previously seen on tour, including “The Archer,” “Long Live,” “The 1,” “The Last Great American Dynasty,” “Tolerate It” and “'Tis the Damn Season.”

New songs added to the set list include "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School," "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart" and "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"

The Eras Tour’s European leg is scheduled to return to France in Lyon and hit the U.K. before heading to Dublin in late June.

Swift will continue performing in Europe throughout the summer before wrapping in London in August and heading back to North America for a slew of shows in Toronto, Vancouver and the United States.

Amid Taylor Swift’s holiday hiatus from her record-breaking Eras Tour , Swifties have been looking for other fun ways to keep themselves entertained. Luckily, on Dec. 1, Taylor Nation , Swift’s official fan club, revealed that there would be a special celebration for the Grammy winner being named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year. On Dec. 8 and 9, the streaming platform would host an exclusive Swift-themed pop-up in New York City, with less than 2,000 tickets available for the fandom.

Still scarred from the Ticketmaster fiasco circa November 2022 , I didn’t have high hopes when I entered for a chance to attend. To my surprise, two days before the event started, I found out I won a coveted spot — and I mean coveted. When I waited in the virtual queue on ticketstoday.com to register, there were over 7,000 Swifties ahead of me, over four times the total amount of tickets being distributed.

Leading up to the event, details were extremely limited. The Eras Experience was held at Skylight at Essex Crossing, a large space in the Lower East Side of Manhattan (though only ticket holders received location information). I also didn’t know how much the event would cost me until the day before, but tickets were completely free. All I needed to bring was my digital ticket and ID in order to enter. Even the lines weren’t too bad; I probably waited 20 minutes total before entering the pop-up for my time slot.

While I waited in line and listened to Swift’s music playing over the speakers, fans all around me were recounting their tales of Swiftiedom — one girl shared her top song on her 2023 Spotify Wrapped (“Cruel Summer”); another shared that one time she DMed Swift a surprise song request that the singer actually ended up playing for the fan’s chosen show (“Clean”).

The Inside Of Taylor Swift’s Eras: The Experience Is Made For Swifties

The pop-up’s design mimicked Swift’s “Lover” house from the song’s music video. Each color-block room represented a different era with plenty of tiny details (potentially even some Easter eggs ) for fans to fixate on.

Attendees start at the Midnights room, which featured a massive clock set to midnight (duh) and the Apple Music Artist of the Year Award. Next up is Reputation , where a constant loop of a snake played on projector and a faux headstone proclaimed, “Here Lies Taylor Swift’s Reputation.” To the left, the light blue 1989 room was filled with fish bowls, another reference to the 1989 room in the “Lover” house .

And so it goes, each era had its own room — a pink bedroom for Lover , a koi-decorated dining room for Speak Now (a reference to her koi guitar from the Speak Now tour ) , a 21st birthday celebration for Red (plus a red scarf hanging nearby), a moss-covered piano for Folklore , a plaid-filled closet for Evermore , a copy of Romeo & Juliet in the upside-down Fearless room, and a portrait of Swift’s cat Benjamin Button for debut.

Walking through the whole pop-up took about 40 minutes. All in all, the pop-up is a great opportunity to meet other Swifties and get some gems for your Instagram. Anticipation hung in the air inside Paris’ La Défense Arena on Thursday night as a clock counted down to Taylor Swift ‘s first European date of the Eras Tour .

Yes, the record-breaking tour had been running for over a year and was very well-documented — Swift even released a concert film of it in October that is now streaming on Disney+ — but tonight was different. Just under a month ago, during a break from the tour, Swift had released her 11th studio album, “ The Tortured Poets Department ,” and this show would mark its live debut.

Heading into the “Speak Now” era, Swift debuted a new intro with purple flower visuals, cut “Long Live” and went back to just doing “Enchanted” as the sole song of that album’s set. The “Reputation” era remained unchanged, with Swift even sticking to the same outfit as before — an asymmetrical black-and-red snake bodysuit.

As unfamiliar visuals came across the screen, it became clear that it was now time for “The Tortured Poets Department.” Assorted pieces of furniture — a chair, a lamp, a door — floated from the sky alongside pieces of paper, which then evolved into a desert road where the fixtures crashed onto the floor. Swift then appeared in a white corset dress with cursive writing adorning its skirt and a chunky Vivienne Westwood choker. First up was “But Daddy I Love Him,” followed by a snippet of “So High School” that segued into “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” The set’s graphics were mainly in black-and-white, and included a UFO that looked like it was about to abduct Swift and a filter that whited-out her eyes, giving her a demonic look. One chorus of “Down Bad,” during which Swift rotated around the stage on a spinning metal block, led into “Fortnight,” where a “TTPD”-emblazoned bed was brought out and Swift’s dancers dressed in nurse costumes. As Swift sat across from a dancer on a typewriter, the bed was tilted every which way, creating a fascinating display. She then donned a marching band jacket for “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” as her dancers followed her with drums.

All of the stylings for “The Tortured Poets Department” were vaguely Old Hollywood — perhaps a reference to Clara Bow? — but Swift really hammered that home with a minute-long skit in the middle of the set, in which two of her dancers fling her around like a doll while old-timey music plays. During the skit, Swift’s dress is removed — revealing nothing but a two-piece black set — and she is dressed in a gold jacket and matching heels. “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” followed, furthering the Old Hollywood theme with feather props and a marquee displaying “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.” As Swift and her dancers left the stage, a visual reading “The End” displayed across the screen.

The surprise songs were next, at an unusually late place in the set. Wearing a new pink dress, Swift sang “Paris” — naturally — on the guitar, and then turned to the piano for “Tortured Poets Department” tune “loml,” which marked a tender moment of the set. Swift ended the show, as always, with the “Midnights” era, the songs for which remained the same, though she wore a new blue bodysuit.

Leaving the venue that night, one couldn’t help but feel that they had just witnessed an entirely new show, proving Swift’s expertise in reinvention. She could have just tacked “The Tortured Poets Department” songs onto the beginning or the end, but that would have been too easy. Instead, with more changes sure to come throughout its European leg, she gifted her fans with another reason to come back and see the Eras Tour again and again.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is cheaper for Americans to see in Europe than in the U.S.—thanks to the strong dollar and EU regulations

Taylor Swift’s U.S. fans reeling from sticker shock while looking for “Eras Tour” tickets could pay a lot less to see her in Europe, even after including air fare and a hotel.

According to an itinerary calculated by CNN , traveling to Sweden from New York to see Swift would cost about $1,300. That includes $300 for a concert ticket, $700 for a roundtrip flight, and $300 for a night at a four-star hotel.

Of course, an American tourist is unlikely to stay in Sweden for just one night then fly back to the U.S. the next day. And the cost of food, drinks and souvenirs would also add to the tab.

But that compares to ticket prices of $2,000-$8,500 for Swift’s upcoming shows in Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis, according to prices on StubHub cited by CNN.

Many Swifties in the U.S. have already done the math. In fact, Swift’s concerts this month in Paris, where the European leg of the Eras Tour began, drew five times as many Americans as bookings for the Paris  Olympics this summer.

The upside-down economics of traveling abroad to get a better deal on a concert is due in part to the strong U.S. dollar , which has helped fuel a wave of American tourism abroad.

That’s because the Federal Reserve’s aggressive rate hikes and higher-for-longer stance have boosted the greenback against top global currencies, which have slumped as other central banks are expected to start cutting rates soon. The upshot is that the dollar goes a longer way abroad, making overseas vacations less expensive for Americans.

In addition, several European countries and the European Union have limits on mark-ups from ticket resellers, CNN noted, with prices in Portugal, Spain and Germany for Swift’s Eras Tour coming in around $300-$400.

Meanwhile, the high prices for Swift tickets in the U.S. have draw such outrage that a “ Taylor Swift bill ” was signed into law in Minnesota to protect online ticket buyers from hidden fees and dodgy resellers. The Justice Department is also reportedly preparing an antitrust lawsuit against  Live Nation Entertainment , the parent company of Ticketmaster, as the industry’s overall practices come under greater scrutiny.

At the same time, Swift’s surprise release last month of a double album has added to the hype around her tour, which has already propelled Swift to a net worth of $1.1 billion , putting her on the Forbes list of billionaires for the first time

Taylor Swift's New 2024 Eras Tour Setlist Revealed

T aylor Swift launched her European leg of the Eras Tour with a bang in Paris, introducing a slew of exciting changes during her opening performance on Thursday, May 9.

Fans, eagerly returning after a two-month hiatus, were immediately struck by the alterations — from wardrobe shifts to tweaks in the setlist. Addressing the audience at the onset, Swift teased, "It makes us want to give you all sorts of surprises!"

Of particular interest to fans was whether she'd incorporate tracks from her latest 11th album, The Tortured Poet's Department , released in April. Swift's French tour promoter, Arnaud Meersseman, confirmed additions were on the cards, although specifics remained under wraps.

The tour's evolution kicked off promptly with an altered intro, transitioning from a mashup of her albums to including material from TTPD .

To make room for the new songs, she bid farewell to some fan favorites: "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "Tolerate It," "The Last Great American Dynasty," and "Tis the Damn Season."

Fans voiced their discontent over the cuts. "She really axed some of my favorite songs :(" lamented one user via X (formerly Twitter ). Another expressed frustration, "Why is she cutting the best songs? I'm so upset right now."

However, Swift officially ushered in a TTPD era to the tour, dubbing it "female rage: the musical."

She debuted the tracks "So High School," "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," "But Daddy I Love Him," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me," "Down Bad," and "Fortnight."

As for the costume changes, Swift unveiled a new array of outfits — a new Lover bodysuit, Fearless dress, and Enchanted gown graced the stage, accompanied by a new t-shirt for the Red era saying, "This is Not Taylor's Version."

Transitioning to the Folklore era, she stunned in a new yellow dress, while the 1989 was changed to a blue-and-pink sequined ensemble.

In a surprising twist, the sequence of eras underwent a shake-up. Evermore took the lead after Fearless , followed by Red and then Speak Now . Evermore and Folklore merged into a singular era.

Vargas received the surprise of her life when she attended Night 1 of the "Eras Tour" in Paris.

NBC 7's Brooke Martell, a Swiftie herself, asked Vargas what it was like being hugged by Taylor Swift. Because, yes, that happened.

"I don’t know. It was awesome," The 9-year-old said. "It was, I don’t know, it was one of the best moments of my life. And she gave me a high-five with her two hands.”

But a hug from the world-famous pop icon was not on the original itinerary. The original plan: a trip to Paris with her parents and a chance to see the singer. It's already something so many people, let alone a 9-year-old girl, could never imagine in their wildest dreams.

"I’ve always wanted to be in Paris,” Vargas said. "That’s my favorite!"

So, last week, after a long flight and a night of sleep, it was already time to get ready to see Swift. Wearing a black beaded dress, the Californian native couldn't wait.

"I was dressed Reputation-theme because that’s my favorite album — all of it," Vargas said.

As the mother and daughter made their way through the crowds of Swifties, they found their spots on the floor of the arena, waiting in anticipation for the night to begin.

"Everyone was there to dance, and the worst part: It was the tallest people," Vargas said.

They didn't have the best view, but that didn't matter.

"I was fine with it," she said. "I honestly just wanted to hear the music coming from her mouth, like hearing actual words in the actual moment."

Someone had their eye on Vargas though, which meant her experience was about to become unforgettable.

”I thought she was leading me to the exit until she stopped in front of the stage, and the guy asked, 'Can I pick you up? and I was like, 'Yeah!' " Vargas said. "And then I finally realized what was happening.”

It's a moment all Swifties dream of but only one gets to experience per night, as Swift performs her song "22."

For those who've attended the show or seen the concert clips online, this is a point in the show from the "Red" era. The singer skips down the runway of the stage, and there's always someone at the end of it waiting for her. This time, it was Julissa Vargas.

”I could only hear the part where she says, 'Can I give you a hug?' and she also said, 'Thank you for coming,' " Vargas said.

A hug and she received something to keep: the coveted "22" hat.

"This is the hat she gave me, and it’s signed inside," Vargas said, gesturing.

It's a night the 9-year-old will never forget.

"I still can't believe it actually happened to me," Vargas said. "I see the YouTube Shorts and I'm still like, 'Me?' "

She said she'll never forget that moment and sees herself as a lifelong fan of Taylor Swift.

”I’m the luckiest girl in the world," Vargas said.

Don't worry: After Vargas met Swift, she was taken to the VIP section where she and her mother had the best view to watch the rest of the show.

By now, everyone knows that Taylor Swift has “a guy on the Chiefs,” but no, the NFL did not plan the 2024-2024 schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs to make it easier for Swift to attend the team’s games.

NFL VP of broadcast planning Mike North was asked about the matter during a conference call with reporters Thursday and while he acknowledged that the league did consider Swift’s Eras Tour while building the schedule (more on that below), it was not a factor when it came to the Chiefs.

“I saw a lot of conspiracy theorists talking about Kansas City at Buffalo in the middle of the season, right when Taylor’s playing Toronto,” North said. “That one definitely did not hit our radar screen.”

That being said, North did say that the league had to take the tour into account for some other team schedules. In particular the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, and Indianapolis Colts, who all play in stadiums where Swift is scheduled to bring her Eras Tour in the fall.

“We certainly considered the tour dates that hit NFL stadiums,” North said. “I think she’s in Miami, maybe New Orleans, Indy. We certainly considered those.”

Indeed, those teams are all scheduled to be on the road around the time Swift hits up their cities.

Swift, of course, made a handful of appearances at Chiefs games last season to cheer on her boyfriend, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce. Her appearances in the crowd drove real viewership, with the league and commissioner Roger Goodell expressing enthusiasm for the younger, female audience she is bringing to the games.

“The Taylor Swift effect is also a positive,” Goodell said during a Super Bowl week press conference, adding that “it’s great to have her a part of it. Obviously it creates a buzz, it creates another group of young fans, particularly young women that are interested in seeing, ‘Why is she going to this game?’ ‘Why is she interested in this game besides Travis?’ She’s a football fan. And I think that’s great for us.”

We could talk, I suppose, about all Taylor Swift’s done for the economy, friendship bracelets, seismology and Travis Kelce . But her greatest nonmusical achievement is the innocuous art she’s made of the gape. On a 50-foot screen, the various apertures of her mouth constitute a spectacle. There’s the “Who? Me?,” the “yeah I said it,” the “ouch,” the “ooooo,” the “gosh golly” and the “Sally Field wins another Oscar.” Hers is the story of “oh.”

That glee is a reason to be happy about the movie that’s been assembled from her live show — “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which was shot at SoFi Stadium outside Los Angeles, the final stop on the tour’s first leg. “Happy” because it’s recorded what a gladdening agent Swift can be on a stage and the stamina summoned to power that agency for the better part of three hours. The movie’s about 165 minutes long, and she’s as ebullient descending into the stage, for her farewell, as she is in the opening minutes magically materializing upon it. The first words she speaks to the 70,000 people hooting for her are, “Oh, hi!,” as if SoFi were a shower we’d caught her singing in.

In June, when Swift landed at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the pushing and screaming — by five high schoolers — to my immediate rear ceased at about the two-hour mark. I turned to check on the state of their ecstasy and found a pile of fatigue — the human version of that crumpled face emoji. Her glee had outlasted theirs, her zing had them zung. If nothing else, this movie’s a monument to that: Swift’s illusion of ease. She doesn’t work as physically hard or as loosely or hydraulically as her dancers. She’s not a Jackson. And she doesn’t sing as enormously or as exquisitely as a Streisand, Carey, Dion or Knowles-Carter. Nor is her show — produced as discrete segments devoted to nine of Swift’s 10 albums — the cultural gymnasium Madonna requires. Swift plays to her enhanced strengths: candied pitch, arresting stature, toothsome songwriting, winking, the very idea of play. Not far into things, right around “Cruel Summer,” she announces that we’ve encountered “the very first bridge of the evening.” There are more to come, because not since Lionel Richie has a major pop star so enjoyed the pleasure in the might of her bridgecraft.

It wasn’t until this movie that Swift’s 10-minute breakup ballad “All Too Well,” which she performs alone downstage in a glittering robe and an acoustic guitar, struck me as an achievement of genuine theater. Rapt in a movie theater, I felt the song’s heart-wrung pique in a new way. Some of that comes from watching Swift’s face register the ache, tsking recrimination. The rest comes from the song pooling outward into anthem territory. Live, it’s like watching someone woodwork “American Pie” until it resembles “Purple Rain.”

“Eras” is studded with little revelations like that. Another: the “Reputation” section of the show contains her freest, most ambitious singing and movement. That album is the first in which she approximates the mischievous, cunning, swaggy music that Beyoncé or Rihanna could make. But the kick of its first six songs is that Swift invites the dare. She spends this part of the show dressed in a serpentine unitard. She knows.

One more aha: Swift can command a stage. I’d never thought of her as someone a camera has to take in . But anytime she’s in one of those glittering bathing suits and a pair of spangled knee-high boots, the length of her demands in-taking. She can strike a formidable pose. But early, when she points to different spots in SoFi and those sections start to roar, she jokes that that kind of power is “dangerous” before kissing her biceps, except I don’t think she’s joking. She understands her power and she’s skilled at performing the accident of having so much of it, like she can’t also believe how the country would react if she, say, started going to football games and chest-bumping folks and being associated with a thing of nearby chicken fingers. Her embodiment of lightness and blitheness and insouciance constitutes a talent. Another gape: Did I do that?

The show confirmed my sense that Swift can’t be serious — doesn’t want to be — for long, lest she be labeled self-serious. She’s fine with attention but less so with her own monumentality. That discomfort strikes me as the source of the Taylor-as-Godzilla imagery of “Anti-Hero,” a dirge in jam’s clothing. In concert, Swift is as committed to skipping like a cartoon first grader along the stage as she is to sashaying and skulking around it. She’d rather be running than standing still, accruing meaning. She’d rather use her body for screwball comedy than for totemism. She knows what a holy object we’ve made and seems to be trying to undercut that. These are thoughts that could occur to you live in the moment of the show itself. But now the camera permits you to savor it.

So it’s a shame that the shots here are all over the place — the stage, the sky, too close, too far, too kinetic; only occasionally, in medium close-ups, just right. The director is Sam Wrench, and it’s unclear whether he’s making a movie or a salad. Under the circumstances, he’s done the best he probably could. For one thing, his camera operators and editors have to compete with the jumbo monitors that project what’s at the center of the stadium to its farthest reaches. Few movie screens can hold a candle to one of those — the screen at my theater wasn’t one of them, anyway. The projected image delivers a Swift who seems to be in higher resolution than the woman onstage. The breakthroughs in screen imaging have changed the concert-going experience for better and worse. They’ve democratized it, and that’s great.

You can actually experience Swift more clearly in the upper decks than in the inner circles. The concert screens literalize her cultural magnitude. But they seem like hell on good filmmaking. Unless, no one prioritized attempting to shoot around them so that Swift isn’t being upstaged by herself. Of course, that inner-circle seat is, if not priceless (there was definitely a price tag ), then certainly far more valuable since, whenever Swift makes her way to the stage’s lip, we can shove a phone in her face. That introduces a modern eyesore for a concert film: other people’s movies. The “Eras” crew has clearly aimed to keep the amateur films mostly out of the shots. But they’re there, nonetheless, as intrusive in a movie as they are at the show itself.

What is it we should expect from a concert movie? Cinema or fax? “Eras” is proof that an event took place and that the event was fun. There’s more it could have been, of course. “More” just opened a few weeks ago — well, reopened in the form of “Stop Making Sense,” the 1984 concert movie Jonathan Demme made from a few Talking Heads shows, also in Los Angeles. The film predates the camera phone but not the audience. You barely hear one, and he rarely cuts away to it. The film captures one man expanding into a family and the family into a kind of small choir. Maybe Swift is too big for that movie’s living-room approach. But surely there’s a more imaginative strategy to bring her to us than point-and-shoot.

I know. “Eras” wasn’t made to be art. It was made to be an index of art that got made. It was made for posterity. Oh — and for the hundreds of people in the parking lot at every Eras show who could sort of hear Swift and had to make do with seeing only each other. The movie is for them. And they’re gonna gape their faces off.

During the Paris leg of her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift stayed at the elegant Hôtel De Crillon, where she had access to luxurious amenities, Michelin-starred dining and charmingly sophisticated decor.

The gorgeous Rosewood Hotels & Resorts mainstay features massive suites ranging in price from $4,600 to $21,000 per night depending on the accommodation’s size and layout.

The property’s 10 signature suites “embody an expressly Parisian residential style that is equally warm and refined,” the hotel’s website states .

The late Karl Lagerfeld designed the residential-style guest rooms, which offer “an incomparable atmosphere of contemporary sophistication that respects the landmark’s 18th-century heritage.”

The chic suites come with butler service and have a mixture of bespoke furnishings, antique pieces and carefully selected objets d’art that bring an air of refinement to the palatial Parisian retreats.

Spacious en suite bathrooms are immaculately designed with marble finishes and full-size soaking tubs for ultimate relaxation.

There are also several delectable dining options on-site for guests to enjoy.

The Nonos par Paul Pairet is an upscale restaurant serving traditional French cuisine “with a twist,” like steak frites and beef fillet, as well as a selection of desserts, including chocolate soufflé and strawberry and raspberry chantilly.

Connected to the main dining hall is a delicatessen offering fresh seafood, charcuterie, smoked fish and cheeses perfect to grab on the go for a picnic under the Eiffel Tower.

For those ready to indulge in the finest dining option, A-list guests can eat and drink at the Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant L’Écrin.

The fancy fair offers an “exceptional culinary experience characterized by the subtlety of [their] dishes and remarkable pairings,” the website states.

Dishes are carefully crafted based on beverage pairings and prepared with seasonal produce for an “unforgettable sensory expedition” that can be served as a five- or seven-course meal.

The Jardin d’Hiver is a stunning tea room where guests can go for all-day dining and munch on desserts by head pastry chef Matthieu Carlin.

The bar Les Ambassadeurs is where travelers can sip on creative cocktails while listening to live music.

As for those seeking an extremely private dining experience, visitors can feast inside the hotel’s private dining room dubbed La Cave.

For round-the-clock sweets, patrons can enjoy fresh pastries from Butterfly Pâtisserie.

The hotel’s modern fitness studio is reserved for guests only and has state-of-the-art equipment, including a treadmill, bike, weight-training station and more.

Gym-goers can also book sessions with the hotel’s personal trainer for a one-on-one sweat session.

The Sense spa is the hotel’s tranquil space with a luxurious pool, steam room, sauna, rain showers and a resting area with a Himalayan salt wall.
