Get off to a good start every day on board. - Hot drinks and pastries are served from 6:30 to 10:30 for early risers and late risers. - Enjoy your breakfast in the cabin with room service , in the restaurant or outside if weather permits - Enjoy pastries cooked on board, bread made daily by our French baker, home-made cakes and muffins, pancakes, waffles, eggs, cheeses and cold cuts, detox juices, and more.

Departure alert for excursions or trips

Because we want your activities to go smoothly, your cruise director alerts you before departure for any excursions you have booked if you are on a Yachting cruise, or for Zodiac® trips, if you have opted for an Expedition cruise .

On board, enjoy our varied buffet . Among the wide choice of salads, vegetables, meat and fish, desserts and pastries, choose a starter, a main dish and a dessert that have been specially cooked for you based on the theme of the day (Corsica, Mediterranean, Asian, barbecue, Italian, etc.) A restaurant on land is booked for day trips.

Your afternoon continues with the terrestrial trips that you have booked to complement your Yachting cruise . On Expedition cruises, enjoy guided trips by our naturalist-guides and discover new lands.

- Around 4 p.m., after having enjoyed a few sweet treats with cold or hot drinks accompanied by music in the Grand salon , it's time to get ready for dinner. Our Hairdresser Advisors will offer you personalised services in the Hairdressing Salon . - Enjoy the peace and quiet of your cabin to watch one of the 60 movies available in multiple languages ​​on your TV, to book a tour through the app or to immerse yourself in a book on your private balcony . - Browse in the shop or stroll through the ship's various social spaces, in the observatory lounge (on the PONANT EXPLORERS and Le Ponant), the panoramic lounge (on the Sisterships) or the Blue Eye on the PONANT EXPLORERS, with a glass of champagne or a delicious cocktail in your hand.

Nos Coiffeurs-Conseil vous proposeront des prestations personnalisées au Salon de coiffure . - Profitez de la tranquillité de votre cabine pour regarder un des 60 films disponibles en plusieurs langues sur votre téléviseur, pour réserver une excursion via l’application ou pour vous plonger dans un livre sur votre balcon privatif . - Flânez à la boutique ou dans les différents espaces conviviaux du navire, au salon observatoire (sur les PONANT EXPLORERS et Le Ponant), au salon panoramique (sur les Sisterships) ou dans le Blue Eye sur les PONANT EXPLORERS, une coupe de champagne ou un cocktail savoureux à la main .

Featuring innovative and environmentally friendly equipment, elegantly designed cabins, spacious suites with large windows and lounge areas that open onto the outside, Le Laperouse is the first in a new class of luxury expedition yacht from France-based Ponant cruise line. The ship, with just 92 cabins and suites, launched in June 2018.

Le Laperouse's sleek design allows access to smaller ports for exploration of hidden gems not accessible to larger vessels. Featuring two restaurants, two lounges including an open-air poolside bar, a theater, fitness center, spa and plenty of private space for rest, reflection and relaxation, this lovely ship offers an unparalleled cruising experience.

As the first ship in Ponant's Explorers Class, Le Laperouse embodies the atmosphere that is the cruise line’s hallmark: a subtle blend of refinement, intimacy and comfort. Le Laperouse has been joined by sister ships Le Champlain , Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d'Urville .

Where Le Laperouse sails

Le Laperouse sails expedition routes to far-flung corners of the globe, including cruises to Australia, Japan, Vietnam, the South Pacific, New Guinea and other off-the-beaten-track destinations.

Ponant's new expedition vessels are designed for high-end expedition voyages in Oceania, South America, Amazon's Orinoco River, Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica, the Indian Ocean and polar regions. The ships introduce passengers to regional wildlife and local cultures with the help of onboard naturalists.

Dining on board

Modern French cuisine is a centerpiece of the new ship. Dining venues include:

• A restaurant on deck 3, that seats 70 in a relaxed atmosphere. The venue serves grilled meats, along with various salads and desserts.
• At the rear of deck 4, passengers can find a sprawling 2,800-square-foot panoramic restaurant, capable of accommodating all passengers in single sitting. This venue, with an opening to the outside, features a buffet of salads, cheeses and desserts. The attentive crew provides table service for hot meals.

Le Lapérouse comes be equipped with a multi-sensory underwater space called Blue Eye.

Entertainment

The centerpiece of Le Lapérouse is Blue Eye. It's an underwater chamber that consists of two large, eye-shaped portholes to get you close up to sea creatures. The screen comes equipped with large screens broadcasting live images from three underwater cameras while a hydrophone captures the sounds of the ocean.

Le Perouse boasts a wide assortment of entertainment venues for adults, teens and children, including:

• A retractable marina water sports platform, used only when the ship is anchored and the sea is calm
• The Atrium, a two-deck-high open-floor area featuring a chandelier with Swarovski crystals
• A 2,150-square-foot Main Lounge with a large LED screen and floor-to-ceiling windows. Evening entertainment there features live performances by a resident singer and pianist and an art auction once per Le Perouse cruise.
• A 188-seat Theatre for music and dance shows
• Wellness Centre, offering a Spa, Balneo Room, Hammam, Massage Room, Beauty Corner, Hair Salon, Shower Room, Relaxation Room and spacious terrace
• Fitness center with panoramic windows
• Leisure Area offering a playroom for small kids playroom as well as Internet stations
• A swimming pool with luxury loungers
• Panoramic Lounge & Bar with an Internet corner, grand piano, library, Panoramic Terrace and Panoramic Bar, the ship’s late-night disco
• Sun Deck with bar, luxury loungers, padded chairs and deck games, including shuffleboard, golf driving net and 9-hole mini-golf

Le Perouse features two standard cabin categories: Prestige and Deluxe, both at 205 square feet. Suites range from 291 to 484 square feet and feature large windows and lounge areas that open onto the outside. Privilege Suites have a bathtub and can hold up to four people. Grand Deluxe Suites also have bathtubs and can accommodate two passengers.

All cabins have balconies, air conditioning, two twins or king-size bed, shower, mini-bar, flat-screen TV with satellite TV and video on demand, a desk with stationery, safe, hair dryer, bathrobes and French bath products. Each cabin is outfitted with 110/220-volt outlets and Internet access. Room service is available 24 hours per day.

Each ship in the new expedition class pays homage to a famous French explorer — in this case, it's named for French explorer Jean-Francois de La Perouse.

MS Le Laperouse staterooms (92 total) include 55 suites and are in 9 categories. Follows the review of Le Laperouse ship's staterooms as furniture, amenities and complimentary services:

All Ponant Le Laperouse cabins (regardless of category) have as standard/complimentary amenities King-size bed (convertible to twins /two lower beds, bedside tables, luxury mattress, premium bedding sets, silk cushions), en suite bathroom (single-sink vanity, glass-enclosed shower, separate WC-toilet, terry bathrobes, luxury bath products), lounge/sitting area (long mirrored vanity desk, stationery, round table, armchair, mini-bar), dressing room (ample wardrobe/drawer space), smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system with Internet and on-demand movies), hairdryer, iPod player, Wi-Fi Internet, electronic safe box and lifejackets (in the closet), direct-dial phone (direct satellite links), power outlets (110/220 V), individual air conditioning.

24-hour room service (complimentary) is also available for guests in all categories staterooms. Room-service menu offers fast-food items (incl burgers and fries, steaks, salads - all free of charge). Bottled water on shore excursions is also complimentary. Luxury bath products in suites are by Sothys. bath products in Prestige and Deluxe cabins are by L'Occitane. All Suite categories have bathrooms with a sliding panel in the shower room, revealing a glass wall for unobstructed sea views.

The largest staterooms (Owners and Grand Deluxe Suites, located aft on decks 5 and 6) are two-room accommodations with bedroom (King bed, TV), master bathroom (Balneo bathtub, dual-sink vanity, separate WC, shower), guest bathroom (WC, sink), lounge area (double sofabed, TV), dining area (4-seat dining table), private balcony (dual access).

Prestige Suites are also two-room accommodations and have 2 bathrooms (each with separate WC/sink, one with shower, master bathroom has a bathtub), 2 dressing rooms, 2 TVs, 2 mini-bars. The lounge room has a double sofa bed. This cabin type is actually 2 connecting Prestige balcony cabins (on Decks 4 and 5 only) with a double-width veranda.

Deluxe Suites' bathrooms also feature separate bathtub/sink, WC and shower. Prestige and Deluxe cabins are the same and differ only by deck location/price. All passenger staterooms feature a private step-out balcony with luxury lounge furniture (a small table with 2 rattan chairs).

Suite passengers enjoy complimentary butler-service (included in Ponant cruise fares). In-cabin babysitting is available upon request.

Ponant Le Laperouse cruise fares are "Open Bar" inclusive (of all beverages). This means unlimited and complimentary drinks served on the ship throughout the voyage. The list of free beverages includes fine wines and champagnes, spirits, bottled water, all non-alcoholic drinks (also coffee), plus the mini-bar beverages in all cabins.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
