Rara Tour Package

The best time to visit Rara

The best time to visit Rara is from March to June when the summer offers a clear blue sky and sunny days. At this time Nepal’s national flower, Rhododendron, lightens the lake with lush red color, while the lake beautifies itself with the crystal blue shades.

Moreover, another best schedule to visit this lake could be from September through November. The weather in these months is neither too hot nor too cold. Actually, these months are better because the monsoon is gone and the winter is yet to arrive. Besides, it is also a favorable time for trekking, taking a bus or jeep rides, and flying.

Unfortunately, monsoon (June to August) and winter (December to February) seasons are not supposed to be an ideal time to visit this lake. Heavy rain during monsoon makes bus routes difficult and vulnerable to landslides. Also, snowfall in winter makes the temperature quite cold and blocks the trail to the lake. However, it does not mean that traveling to Rara during winter and monsoon is impossible. In crux, flying from Nepalgunj to Talcha airport is highly recommended during monsoon.

1. Nepalgunj (60 minutes) from Kathmandu or Pokhara

2. Nepalgunj to Talcha [35 minutes] (closest airport to Gamghadi, where the five-hour journey to the lake begins)

How long does it take to walk to Rara Lake?

The trek to Rara Lake might take four days to more than two weeks. While the walk is not particularly long, travelling to and from the starting and conclusion places can be time-consuming.

No. There are guides available for those who want them; you may hire a guide who will start from Jumla, or you can discover several firms who will put together your schedule from Kathmandu and take care of all the flight arrangements.

Is the hike to Rara Lake challenging?

The Rara Lake Trek is not challenging or lengthy, and it is suitable for trekkers of all levels. It does, however, necessitate a basic level of fitness. This is an attractive option if you have no previous trekking experience. There are many other trails to challenge yourself and enhance the experience for those who want more of a challenge and have the time.

Is there a good time to visit Rara Lake?

1. September and October: The cool, breezy temperature and lovely misty views are ideal for these Spring months. At the end of October and the start of November, It is warm & the weather is pleasant. 2. April and May: These are the summer months, when the weather is clear and sunny, making trekking more predictable.

Jumla to Rara lake trek highlights

  • Research wild west rara uncrowded hiking trail and its hidden beauties staying in campsites.
  • Discover the far western Himalayas and experienced the wilderness off the beaten path trail.
  • Excellent views of Rara lake and its surrounding.
  • Undergo the Natural beauty of Rara lake is like a queen of opera
  • Encounter the mixed ethnic group people of west Nepal and their culture and tradition.

Why Rara Lake is the best popular as a queen of opera?.

Destination Rara Lake is just a Nepal’s wonder – wonderful hike situated in the Mugu district, the western part of Nepal. Mysterious rara is the biggest lake in the country and a beautiful lake like a queen of lakes. A trek to this natural wonder takes about a week, from Jumla Bazaar. On your journey, you will witness not only some picturesque views but also many different species of flora and fauna.

Jumla to Rara Lake trek itinerary prepared to focus on those beginner trekkers who have little time on their visit to Nepal. The trail takes you through a fascinating traditional mixed ethnic group and their villages who will greet you with warm hospitality.

Trek at Rara lake is a wilderness nature exploration in Nepal most frequented by Nepali local tourists. Rara Lake also known as Mahendra Lake and Murma is a viewpoint often overcrowded during the high season.

Air transportation is solid but stuck at the Jumla Airport terminal for 1 to several days because of occasional flights. The far western part of Nepal is diverse in landscape including flat land with the high Himalayas. Hike Rara is an unquestionable requirement to hike place in Nepal.

The Rara lake connects travelers with a local tour guide in Nepal. The best time to visit Rara Lake with a Guide is either in Spring (March to May) or Autumn (October to December) at this time the weather is very clear with a blue sky and the sun shining. Sightseers can discern the pristine Himalayas and beautiful landscapes together at the same time.

What are the best and possible activities for tourists while on Rara hikes?

The 2-3 full days staying at Rara lake is just sufficient. Drifting almost half a day including lining up (1 hour one way + return 1-hour walk 1 way), cycling around, and horse riding to see the whole of Rara lake. In the scene, you have to move to Murma top which is 5 km rough and goes for 3 hours hiking or pony riding one way. We purpose you climb riding horse as you won’t get drained when you reach there and return crisp later. It cost around Nepali rupees (Nrs) 1800-2200 for 1 way pony riding.

You should walk when you return as it is annoying and hazardous riding a horse soaks downhill. Watching the whole Rara lake from Rara hilltop is entrancing as should be obvious just nature and no man-made structures. Moreover, there is no hydroelectricity supply, so Sun oriented power introduced in lodgings permits versatile charging and lights.

How to reach Rara lake Quickest?

Talcha plane terminal is another particularly problematic air terminal for landing and taking off in view of its exceptional geographical territory. It’s close to nothing (clearly for STOL) a bit of inclination detests Lukla. As a result of the closeness of the mountain nose at the north side of the runway, the plane should turn legitimately when it takes off and ought to arrive the same way (Can’t go straightforwardly to the runway from far away).

Likewise, from Jumla airport you may either take a bus or jeep to reach Gamgadhi, the district headquarters of Mugu. And from there it is about five hour hike to the lake. It is also possible to trek from Jumla to Rara lake but allow 3-5 days of hikes.

However, the easiest way to travel to Rara lake is to take a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalganj and take another domestic flight from Nepalganj to Tancha (Mugu) airport and walk all the way to Rara Lake.

Notes for Rara National Park Visitors!

The information stated above Rara hikes is just a standard template guideline that we provide you. However, the trip plan is possible to modify at your request to accommodate your specific standards. Local politics, landslides, cancellation of local flights, weather, transport, or a multitude of other factors that are beyond our control can result in a change of itinerary during on trip.

It is, however, very unlikely that the itinerary would be substantially altered. If alterations are necessary the leader will decide the best alternative option, taking into consideration the best interests of the whole group. When a change does occur, we do everything we can to minimize its effect, but we cannot be responsible for the results of changes or delays.

What makes wild west Rara lake trek special?

Opportunities for challenging trekking or hiking and pleasant strolls are scattered all over the world. This combination of the stunning natural beauty, cultural encounters, and a sense of wilderness make the Rara Lake trek a highly sought-after and remarkable journey in Nepal.

We believe in the quality of services. Your safety and satisfaction is our concern. We are a team of professional local guides who know the destination much better than others. Moreover, we give benefits to the local communities and help to conserve natural resources which reduced costs and consumption.

Rara Lake Tour

rara lake tour package

Rara Lake Tour is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy and celebrate the vacation. It is a dream place for nature lovers who are seeking unique and mesmerizing beauty. It lies in Rara National Park in the Mugu district. Rara National Park is the smallest park of Nepal known as a unique and scenic park. Rara lake is the largest Lake in Nepal at 2990 meters and spreads over 10.8 sq km. It is commonly known as the Queen of Lakes.

The water of a Lake is crystal clear, and it gives a mirror effect. While boating in a Lake, you can see pictures of the hills and screens as if it is a mirror. It is also said that this Lake is the source of the meaning of life. As you reach a higher altitude, the coldness and purity make you realize you’re breathing. When you look deeper into the Lake water, three endemic fish species playing there make us feel that the meaning of life is to rejoice and stand up.

Rara tour is a wonderful and lovely trekking destination that offers a few of the significant breathtaking sights you’ll ever imagine. Rara lake’s journey isn’t a troublesome one, and not a really long one either, but an immensely satisfying one that will grant you recollections to cherish for a lifetime.

When you walk through rich green woodlands, contribute your energy to get to the best of the valley, cross-field lands, and socially wealthy villages, you’ll encounter the authentic way of life of nearby inhabitants by and by with the most extreme simplicity.

Customer

My wife & I have just completed the Journey of a Lifetime 16 day 15 night Trip as organised by Express to Russia. We also had a tour of St Petersburg & Moscow as well. The planning & execution of both trips was well above our expectations. The guides we had in all of our destinations were exceptional & the meet & greet & return to the stations went as smooth as clockwork. We had one minor hitch but that was through no fault of Express to Russia..a quick email from our Ipad had the problem resolved immediately We did have some misgivings at the start about doing the booking online ourselves but Elena was wonderful & answered all of our questions promptly & to our satisfaction. We felt comfortable with the whole process. The train trip is wonderful with Mongolia being a "special " place for us! We highly recommend Elena & her company. I am happy to answer any questions any body may wish to ask.

Thank you so very much for organizing our trip. Everything went wonderfully, and we really enjoyed our time in Russia. Moscow was beautiful, Lake Baikal was very cold, yet very fun to swim in, and the DPR Koreans that I met and made friends with in Vladivostok was beyond priceless. The guides you got for us did an exceptional job, and the drivers helped us out a lot as well. The hotels you got for us were great, and the room you got for us in the Vladivostok really made the long stay comfortable. The trains were also very enjoyable as was the Russian hospitality, although we really weren´t expecting people to be so generous or helpful. Overall, the trip was wonderful, and you arranged it magnificently. You really went out of your way to accommodate my schedule and help me with my schoolwork, so I really appreciate it; I couldn´t have done it without you. So once again, thank you for all of your efforts, and hopefully in the future you will be able to help us out again. Take care, and thank you for everything.

A train on Trans-Siberian Railway

Trans-Siberian Train

The main route of the Trans-Siberian Railway begins in Moscow and heads east to Vladivostok passing through Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Ulan Ude, Chita, Blagoveshchensk and Khabarovsk. The length of the route is 9259 km or 5753 miles. The train travels through 7 time zones and takes 8 days to complete without making overnight stops. The Trans-Siberian splits off into a few other fascinating directions as well:

Trans-Mongolian Train

The Trans-Mongolian Line was built from 1940 to 1956 between Ulan-Ude at Lake Baikal’s eastern shore and the Chinese capital Beijing. From Ulan-Ude the tracks go south towards Mongolia, crossing the great Gobi Desert and finally ending up in Beijing. This route is a mere 7867 kilometers long (Moscow - Beijing).

Trans-Manchurian Train

The Trans-Manchurian Line runs on the same route as the Trans-Siberian as far as Tarskaya, which is a few hundred miles east of Baikal. From Tarskaya, the line runs southeast into China near Zabaikalsk and makes its way down to Beijing. This route is a 9001 kilometres long (Moscow - Beijing).

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

Where does the trans-siberian railway start and where does it end.

The Trans-Siberian Railway starts in Moscow and extends all the way to Vladivostok on the Pacific Ocean. This route connects the European part of Russia, the Ural region, Siberia and the Russian Far East.

Are Beijing and Ulan Bator stops along the Trans-Siberian railway?

Beijing and Ulan Bator are parts of Trans-Mongolian railway - an offshoot of the main Trans-Siberian Railway. There are many options to arrange your travel: to visit Ulan Bator and or follow the Trans-Siberian railway to or from Vladivostok.

Can I use the hop-on hop-off principle when traveling by Trans-Siberian train?

Unfortunately, that is not possible. Train tickets in Russia are not open, so you will need a separate ticket with a particular date for each leg of your trip - for example, you may go all the way from Moscow to Vladivostok, but you will only be able to leave the train for short stops at the railway stations. In case if you would like to explore different cities on the way, you will need separate tickets, for example Moscow – Yekaterinburg, Yekaterinburg – Irkutsk, Irkutsk - Vladivostok. We offer carefully planned private tours that will allow you to visit several cities on your way.

Are there showers aboard Trans-Siberian trains?

Most of the Trans-Siberian trains do not have showers, and there are two WCs per each carriage. Please consider it while planning your trip. We recommend to choose shorter distances (that is, to plan more overnight stops in the cities along the way) to avoid the inconvenience of not showering. Another option is to choose the trip on board a more luxurious train which has all the on-board amenities that one might need.

Are meals included on the board of Trans-Siberian express train?

When traveling with RZD regular trains meals are not included. You can easily buy your meals in the restaurant car.  Another option is to buy local specialties from “babushkas” (grandmothers, or simply Russian old ladies) on the short train stops along the way. This is a very authentic way of getting your meals.

What is the most comfortable way to travel on the Trans-Siberian railroad?

There are luxurious trains on the Trans-Siberian railway that are quite different from regular RZD trains and can be described as 5* hotels on wheels. We offer this type of accommodation on the Imperial Russia train where you can enjoy a full board menu, a shower and a comfortable compartment.

  • Welcome to Russia and let us start the Russian holidays from Moscow. Moscow is a fashionable cosmopolitan city with more than 12 million inhabitants of more than 100 different nationalities living and working together. We are glad you are here to explore multinational city combining a great variety of cultures and traditions forming a unique atmosphere of the former Soviet capital.
  • You will meet your guide and be transferred to the hotel for checking in.
  • This morning you might have a driving panoramic tour around the city centre. Varvarka street, Nikolskaya street and of course a visit to the Red Square where you will have enough time to explore the area with your guide: Alexander Garden, Kremlin Walls, Red Square, Mausoleum Building, GUM, Sparrow Hills, Victory Park and many other sightseeings.
  • After the lunch (optional) we will have a traditional tour to the Kremlin. The magnificent Moscow Kremlin is the sacred heart of the Russian Federation and the most ancient part of the city. It is the historic, social and political centre of Moscow. It is the starting point from where Moscow grew into a megalopolis, and it is where all Russian leaders have lived and worked. You will see the Tsar Bell, Tsar Cannon, visit the Assumption Cathedral, Archangel Michael's Cathedral and Annunciation Cathedral.
  • Then, you might wish to visit Yeliseev Grocery Store at Tverskaya Street or Walk along beautiful  Stolechnikov and Rozhdestvenka Lane by yourselves or travel back to the hotel accompanied by your guide using Moscow Underground.
  • After breakfast you might wish to visit Moscow Underground railroad network, commonly called the Moscow Metro, masterpiece of art and architecture or you can take our Metro tour, we visit several train stations, which look like palaces, and boast of amazing statues, murals, mosaics, colorful marble, and ornate chandeliers. The tour will proceed to the Central Moscow Mosque, the central biggest Islamic centre in Russia.
  • You might also want to visit  the world famous Tretyakov Gallery which contains works of Russian art from the 10th century up to the present. You would view exquisite Russian icons and paintings from the 18th and 19th century including works by Rublev, Kandinsky, Karavak, Vishnyakov, Nikitin, Antropov, Levitsky, Kiprensky, Tropinin, Fedotov, Repin and many others.
  • After breakfast you will check out from the hotel, meet your guide and have a transfer to the train station.  We are travelling to Saint Petersburg today. With a population of 6 million people, Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia. It was founded in 1703 by the Tsar Peter the Great, the country’s greatest reformer who opened Russia to Europe. It was also the capital of the Russian Empire from 1712 till 1918.  You can see and feel the heritage of Russia’s historical monarchy in its streets, parks, monuments, museums and citizens.
  • Upon the Arrival to Saint Petersburg, you will be met by the driver and have a transfer to the hotel for checking in.
  • The rest of the day is free. Tonight, you might plan to head out on the town or enjoy a soft drink in a bar or café or at our hotel. During the journey you can choose our optional tours like “Folklore Show at Nikolaevsky Palace” or a night at the Russian Ballet.
  • After the breakfast we might take  Hermitage Museum tour. It houses one of the biggest and best art collections on earth. Then, we will visit Peter & Paul Fortress and the Peter & Paul Cathedral, which houses the tombs of the Romanov monarchs. The Peter and Paul Fortress is the original citadel of St. Petersburg, Russia, founded by Peter the Great in 1703 and built to Domenico Trezzini's designs from 1706 to 1740. In the early 1920s, it was still used as a prison and execution ground by the Soviet government.
  •  Most of the city sights are dotted along and just off the main street - Nevsky Prospekt. It’s an easy city to find your bearings and get around. St Petersburg has a spirited restaurants, bars and jazz clubs.
  • Today you might further explore the city centre and its numerous must see places by your own: the Cathedral of Spilt Blood and Saint Isaac Cathedral. The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was built in 1883-1907 on the spot where the Russian Emperor Alexander II was assassinated. It holds the largest number of mosaics in Europe. It is a treasure box, gleaming with precious stones, gold and colorful mosaic mural panels which cover the walls and the dome of the Cathedral. The monumental building of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral was built in 1818-1858 by French architect Montferrand. There are up to 600 pieces of art inside the building including paintings, sculptures and icons.
  • This day you also can visit the Museum of Faberge. It contains more than 4,000 works of decorative applied and fine arts, including gold and silver items, paintings, porcelain and bronze. A highlight of the museum's collection is the group of nine Imperial Easter eggs created by Fabergé for the last two Russian Tsars.
  • This afternoon, you can visit Yusupov Palace or plan a shopping at Nevsky Prospect.
  • The day could be devoted to Pushkin and Catherine Palace or you can take a tour with transportation from us. It takes 1 hour to reach this place from Saint Petersburg. Upon the arrival in Pushkin, you might have an inside tour of the Catherine Palace, and you would visit the famous Amber Room. This room was built in 1716 as a gift to Peter I from the King of Prussia Frederick William I. The King of Prussia wanted to celebrate peace between his state and Russia and to cement their alliance against Sweden by making such a magnificent gift. The panels of the Amber Room are made from several tons of amber.
  • After the breakfast, you check out from the hotel. The driver will meet you at the lobby to transfer you to the airport. We are looking forward to seeing you again, always welcome back.
