A Stallion Cruise bus on Sunday veered off course, rolling over to the deep side of the road near Gwayi Bridge, resulting in 24 people being injured.

The unfortunate incident occurred on the 22 km Cross Dete – Binga road, where, according to our sources, a total of 24 passengers narrowly escaped death.

Ngqabutho Masunda, the 45-year-old driver of the Stallion Cruise bus, reported that the vehicle lost power as it approached a steep incline after Gwayi Bridge. This loss of power led to the bus rolling backward and ultimately overturning onto the right side of the road, coming to rest on its roof facing the northern direction.

The extensive damage to the bus prompted a swift response, with a report filed at ZRP Kamativi Police. Kamativi Police’s vehicle was dispatched to transport the injured passengers to Kamativi Mission Hospital for medical attention.

Authorities have confirmed the receipt of the accident report, shedding light on the tragic incident that unfolded on the Cross Dete – Binga road. The community now grapples with the aftermath of the event, as investigations are expected to determine the cause of the bus losing power and the subsequent rollover near Gwayi Bridge.

Seven People Perished In A Fatal Road Accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road accident that took place on Sunday, July 16, 2023. The accident happened in the morning near Masumo Bridge, Samende area, Binga. In a statement seen by Pindula News, police said a Stallion Cruise bus travelling from Siabuwa to Binga overturned in the accident. The number of people killed and injured has not yet been released. Reads the statement:

The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 16/07/23 in the morning near Masumo Bridge, Samende area, Binga in which a Stallion Cruise bus travelling from Siabuwa to Binga overturned. The number of people killed and injured will be released in due course.

In another case, the police in Murewa are requesting information that may help in the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident. The incident resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man. He was found dead at the 107-kilometre peg along Harare-Nyamapanda road on July 15, 2023. The victim was hit by an unknown motorist who did not stop after the accident.

Police are appealing to the public for relevant information on the accident.

These reports come just hours after ZRP confirmed two fatal road traffic accidents that occurred on July 13 and 14, 2023. The first accident happened at approximately 7:20 pm at the 18-kilometre mark along Harare-Shamva Road, where a Nissan Caravan carrying eight passengers veered off the road, overturned several times, and landed on its roof. Seven people died, and two others were injured. The second accident occurred at around 7:40 am on July 14 along Natview-Hobhouse Road, Mutare. Three pedestrians walking by the roadside were hit and killed by an Ateco Benz lorry that had veered off the road. The driver and two passengers on board, as well as another pedestrian, were injured.

Stallion Cruise bus in accident on Harare Chiredzi route near Beatrice

Report on stallion bus incident along harare masvingo road.

Passengers feared dead and several others seriously injured today in an accident involving a Stallion Cruise bus that was travelling from Harare to Chiredzi passing through Chivhu and Zaka.

The speeding bus reportedly rolled three times on Monday morning. Zimbabwe has been recording many accidents recently caused by speeding and road conditions.

According to eyewitnesses, the speeding bus slipped and rolled at Beatrice. Many were injured on the spot and some died on the way to hospital.

BINGA – Five passengers lost their lives when a bus overturned in Binga on Sunday morning, according to police reports.

The Stallion Cruise bus was en route to Bulawayo when it flipped over and landed on its roof in the Sikalenge area between Siabuwa and Binga center.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesman, confirmed the fatalities and stated that the number of injured individuals is still being determined.

The accident occurred at a sharp curve near the Masumu River bridge, with witnesses noting that the bus was traveling at high speed.

This incident follows another mishap involving a Stallion Cruise bus that caught fire in Mutare on July 11, resulting in the bus being completely destroyed while all passengers managed to escape unharmed.

Police Release Names Of Stallion Cruise Bus Accident Victims

In a recent press statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released an update on the fatal road traffic accident that occurred on the Binga-Siabuwa Road, near Masumu Bridge, Samende area.

The accident, which took place on 16th July 2023 at the five-kilometer peg, resulted in the tragic loss of five lives and left twenty-four passengers injured.

The bodies of the victims have been transported to the Binga District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations. Meanwhile, the injured passengers are receiving medical treatment at the same hospital.

The ZRP emphasizes the importance of drivers exercising extreme caution on the country’s roads and adhering to stipulated speed limits.

Additionally, operators of public service vehicles are urged to ensure that their vehicles do not exceed the stipulated load capacity, as this is crucial for the safety of all individuals on the roads.

In a statement, the ZRP said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police announces the names of the five victims who were killed in a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 16th July 2023 at the five kilometre peg along Binga-Siabuwa Road, near Masumu Bridge, Samende area. Twenty four (24) other passengers were injured. The five (5) victims have been identified by their next of kin as listed:- Peter Pendas Munsaka (36), a male adult of Magobo Village, Siabuwa, Binga, Shadreck Munkuli (37), a male adult of Siachiyanze 4 Village, Sinampande, Binga, Rosemary Mwinde (43), a female adult, Kinizi Munsaka (3), a female juvenile of Kaningo Village, Sinampande , Siabuwa, Maria Mudenda (61), a female adult of Mukovela Village, Nagangala area, Siabuwa, Binga. The bodies of the victims were taken to Binga District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital. The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that drivers should exercise extreme caution on the country, roads and adhere to stipulated speed limits. Above all, operators should ensure that public service vehicles do not exceed their stipulated load capacity to safeguard fives on the roads.

The bus was en route from Siabuwa to Binga when the incident occurred.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the fatal accident on their Twitter account, stating

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 16/07/23 in the morning near Masumo Bridge, Samende area, Binga in which a Stallion Cruise bus travelling from Siabuwa to Binga overturned,” police said on their Twitter account.

“The ZRP confirms that five people were killed whilst the number of the injured is yet to be ascertained.”

The ZRP further added that the number of injured individuals is yet to be determined. Reports indicate that some passengers were trapped for several hours while awaiting rescue.

Another Narrow Escape as Stallion Cruise Bus Catches Fire in Mutare

Last Tuesday, a Stallion Cruise bus bound for Bulawayo caught fire near First Class Academy in Sakubva, Mutare.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

SAD NEWS: 5 killed as bus overturns near bridge

Five people were killed when a Stallion Cruise bus overturned near Masumo Bridge in Binga yesterday.

The bus was travelling from Siabuwa to Binga when the accident occurred in the Samende area.

Police confirmed five passengers were killed while the number of injured still needs to be ascertained.

Reports say some passengers were trapped for hours awaiting rescue after the bus crash.

Last week, a Stallion Cruise bus bound for Bulawayo went up in flames near Mutare but luckily no one was hurt.

Deadly road accidents claim many lives in Zimbabwe every year due to poor road conditions, reckless driving and unsafe vehicles.

The bus company has been urged to improve safety standards and driver training to prevent more tragedies on the roads.

The horrific Binga bus crash shows how just a moment’s inattention by the driver can cause massive loss of life. Thoughts and prayers go out to victims’ families.
