Transatlantic, wellness and relaxation.

The Lotus Spa® on Sun Princess and Star Princess is our first spa to stand two stories tall! Just as exciting are the new features you can enjoy, like a salt room and an aeromatic steam room, and reimagined favorites, like the Enclave and hydro pool. And as for treatments? Even more options to choose from on your wellness journey.

Sea View Terrace

Look ahead to adventures on the horizon from the new Sea View Terrace and Bar, located at the front of your ship. This two-deck bar and modern-yet-cozy lounge space is perfect for relaxing in the fresh sea air with the world’s best stressbuster: ocean views. This is what vacations are for.

Wake View Terrace

If you enjoy taking in the views from the back of the ship, you’ll love our brand-new Wake View Terrace. It has everything you could want: infinity pool, South Beach-style resort deck, entertainment day and night and (most importantly) a full bar. All guests are welcome to kick back here with their favorite drinks and favorite people.

The Sanctuary

If you haven’t tried The Sanctuary yet, this is your open invitation to spend a half or full day in a retreat that’s only for adults and soaking up every bit of relaxation you can. Sip on a signature beverage, or work the knots out with an al fresco massage.

Entertainment Goes Next-Level

Infused with light, our next generation Piazza connects you to the world with dynamic views and innovative experiences. Stroll through this — a hub of activity, inspired by the vibrant squares of Europe. Bring the world to you, and enjoy ocean views in every direction.

Inspired by the terraces of Santorini, The Dome is a multi-level covered deck and first-of-its-kind glass-enclosed dome ever constructed on a cruise ship. During the day, the Dome features an indoor/outdoor pool and unique water feature in a comfortable and relaxed space. At night, the pool becomes a stage, and the Dome completely transforms into an entertainment venue with a South Beach vibe, state-of-the-art lighting effects and stunning entertainment.

Princess Arena

Our Princess Theater has evolved into the Princess Arena, our most technologically advanced performance space. We can configure it in different ways — even in the round! — and its crowning glory is an LCD panel that brings productions to life. More ways to configure the stage means more ways to entertain you.

Princess Live!

Princess Live! provides non-stop entertainment throughout the day and each evening with trivia, game shows, the Daily Wake Show, live concerts and late-night comedy. Our new design is relaxed and right next to the nearby dining venues — Crown Grill and Good Spirits At Sea — seamlessly integrating your entertainment and dining favorites.

Princess Casino

We’re upping the ante with a sleek new look and central location for our friendliest casino at sea. Come play with us, whether slots or table games.

The Shops of Princess

Now located just off the Piazza, you can take in world-class views then indulge in a little retail therapy in these elegant boutiques.

Accommodations

From the moment you step aboard, we want you to feel welcomed and right at home. And with attentive service from a friendly staff that knows what hospitality means, you’ll find your Princess ship truly is your home away from home.

Star Princess Itineraries

Star princess review, review of star princess.

The 2025-built Star Princess cruise ship is the second of two SPHERE class vessels currently under construction at Fincantieri 's yard in Monfalcone Italy . Princess' SPHERE class represents the fleet's first dual-fuel (MDO and LNG ) powered ships. The sistership Sun Princess is currently scheduled for delivery in February 2024.

The vessel (IMO number 9863120) will be Bermuda- flagged (MMSI tba) and registered in Hamilton .

Note : This is the third cruise ship named "Star Princess", following Star Princess (1989-97/ordered as "Sitmar Fair Majesty" for Sitmar Cruises/1988-built as "Sitmar Fair Majesty"/1989-acquired by P&O Princess/2021- scrapped as "Columbus"/IMO 8611398) and the old Star Princess (2002-2021/now Pacific Encounter for P&O Australia .

History - construction and ownership

Princess Cruises is a USA-based passenger shipping company headquartered in Beverly Hills CA. A former subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises (1977-founded), in 2003, the company merged with Carnival Corporation - the world's largest cruise shipowner. Among Princess Cruise Lines Ltd's assets is the Caribbean private island resort Princess Cays (on Bahamas Eleuthera Island's southern end), located approx 80 km (50 mi) from Nassau .

new Star Princess cruise ship (2025)

In July 2018 were ordered two new-class (larger than Royal-Class) liners with GT-tonnage/volume 175000 tonnes and passenger capacity 4300. These are the fleet's first dual-fuel (MGO and LNG/primarily) powered ships. The shipbuilding contract with Fincantieri (Monfalcone Shipyard) was signed on March 27, 2019, with scheduled deliveries in 2023 and 2025. Both contracts were signed by Jan Swartz (Princess' President) and Giuseppe Bono (Fincantieri's CEO). Princess Cruises in 2018 had 5 new ships on order with Fincantieri. The 2024-2025 SPHERE liners are Carnival Corporation's 10th and 11th LNG-powered ships .

Decks and Cabins

Star Princess staterooms (2162 total) include 469x suites, 949x Standard and 100x Cove balconies, 186x Oceanviews, 460x Interior. Of all staterooms, 100x are interconnecting (for families) and 55x are handicap/wheelchair-accessible. All balcony staterooms (1518, or ~70% of all) are with triple/quad occupancy, being fitted with sofabed.

Unlike the preceding ROYAL Class, the new Princess SPHERE ships have oceanview cabins, each fitted with a large non-opening Picture Window.

Exclusive for the SPHERE ships, Star Princess has new types of Suites (Signature Collection Suite/categories Sky, Owner's, Penthouse, Signature) providing premium amenities and bonus perks like exclusive facilities access - Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge & Bar, and Signature Sundeck (part of The Sanctuary).

Club Class staterooms (called on the SPHERE ships "Reserve Collection Staterooms") are Mini-Suites, among which are the resort-style "Reserve Collection Cabana" cabins featuring a balcony-cabana combo (veranda accessed via a large outdoor patio lounge).

The boat has 20 decks , of which 16 are passenger-accessible and 10 with cabins.

Shipboard facilities and amenities

Details on the new Princess SPHERE class were revealed in September 2022. The new ship platform features iconic design elements, including The Dome (a unique entertainment space on top-deck covered by a glass roof) and a suspended glass (in the Piazza Atrium/midship) projecting live sea views as well as recorded UHD media.

The 4300-passenger ship Star Princess also has new for the fleet entertainment venues, 3-deck MDR restaurants (Main Dining Rooms) and new-design staterooms.

The 3-floors-high Piazza Atrium (spreading on decks 7-8-9 midship) is an iconic architectural concept for large-sized cruise liners. The outward-looking space is suspended and with comfortable seating (on all the 3 levels) providing 360-degree unobstructed outside views. The huge LED screen in the middle is movable to allow live entertainment. From The Piazza are accessed Coffee Currents (new for Princess coffee shop), Bellini's Cocktail Bar, Crooners Bar, Ocean Front Lounge, International Cafe, Alfredo's Pizzeria as well as the Lobby's guest services desks (Shore Excursions, Future Cruise, Reception).

Princess Cruises SPHERE-Class ships (Piazza Atrium)

The Dome is a glass-roof-covered sundeck (spanning two floors /decks 17-18 forward) and is the first true glass-enclosed space on a cruise liner. During the day, The Dome serves as a pool deck (having a large indoor/outdoor swimming pool). At night, the swimming pool is covered to become a stage as The Dome transforms into an entertainment venue with superior sound and lighting effects and live aerial performances.

Princess Cruises SPHERE-Class ships (Dome Pool Deck)

As SPHERE Princess ships' coordinating architecture company the shipbuilder Fincantieri contracted TDoS/Tillberg Design of Sweden (1964-founded company specializing in cruise ship design as well as hospitality projects). TDoS was contracted to provide an architecture based on light interiors and transparency. Curiously, the ever-first Atrium (midship-positioned open-floor designed area) on a cruise ship (1969-built Sea Venture) was designed by Robert Tillberg.

Star Princess Wiki

Princess Cruises' SPHERE-class ships are two units by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri , with the first one ( Sun Princess ) entering service in February 2024 and the second one (Star Princess) in August 2025. These are Princess' ever-largest vessels as well as the company's first LNG-powered (by liquefied natural gas).

In July 2018 were ordered two new-class (larger than Princess' ROYAL-class) liners with GT-tonnage/volume 175000 tonnes and passenger capacity 4300 (lower berths). These are the fleet's first dual-fuel (MGO and LNG/primarily) vessels. The shipbuilding contract with Fincantieri ( Monfalcone Shipyard ) was signed on March 27, 2019, with deliveries initially scheduled for 2023 (Sun) and 2025 (Star). Both contracts were signed by Jan Swartz (Princess' President) and Giuseppe Bono (Fincantieri's CEO).

Princess Cruises in 2018 had 5 newbuilds on order with Fincantieri. The SPHERE-class units were Carnival Corporation 's 10th and 11th LNG-powered ships.

By GT-tonnage/volume (175K) Princess SPHERE is the largest Italy-built vessel.

The vessel (Fincantieri Monfalcone yard/hull number 6311) is currently scheduled for delivery (to Princess Cruise Lines Ltd) in July 2025 and to start passenger shipping operations on August 4th (Maiden Voyage).

The ship's physical construction/assembly started on December 11, 2023, with the keel-laying ceremony held at Fincantieri Monfalcone and attended by John Padgett ()Princess Cruises' President). The keel (the ship's first block) weighs 500 tons and was positioned onto the drydock's blocks by crane.

During the keel-laying/coin ceremony were also announced the ship's Masters/Captains - Gennaro Arma (during the construction period/serving as Princess Cruises' newbuild site manager) and Nick Nash (Commodore, who will master the vessel after its inauguration). Gennaro Arma joined Princess in 1998 and was promoted to Captain in 2015 (on Sea Princess ). Nick Nash (with Princess since 1990, the current Captain of Enchanted Princess ) was promoted to fleet commander/Commodore in 2020.

Inaugural cruise itineraries (2025)

The new Star Princess is currently scheduled to start operations with the Maiden Voyage leaving out of Civitavecchia-Rome on August 4, 2025.

The 9-day "Inaugural Italy and Greece Cruise" (roundtrip from Civitavecchia) was priced from USD 1900 per person (with double occupancy).

Star Princess' cruises were open for booking on June 1, 2023.

The Maiden Voyage is followed by 9-day and 10-day voyages (leaving out of homeports Civitavecchia, Piraeus-Athens, and Trieste-Venice) also combinable into 19-day and 20-day B2Bs/back-to-back cruises .

Next tables show the ship's first relocation voyages (RepositionCruises.com) in Europe and the UK-USA Transatlantic crossing following the maiden Mediterranean season.

10-day from Rome to Barcelona (US$2000 pp)

10-day from Barcelona to Southampton (US$1450 pp)

16-day Transatlantic crossing from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale (US$1400 pp)

A typical day on your Tauck Alaska cruise aboard Star Princess actually starts the night before… with the most comfortable night of sleep at sea thanks to the new Princess Luxury Bed, developed by leading experts in both the science and beauty of sleep… from which you'll awaken feeling refreshed, renewed and rejuvenated. Your morning may be spent exploring ashore on an excursion for Tauck guests only – perhaps visiting a historic Klondike Gold Rush town, riding a 19th-century narrow-gauge railway through the Alaskan wilderness, or enjoying a rafting trip through a bald eagle preserve. After a scrumptious lunch onboard, you might kick back during an afternoon's sail amidst glacial islands once completely covered by ice, now featuring blue-tinged ice cliffs towering over the sea… keeping a close watch for orcas, humpbacks, seals and seabirds. Or kick it up a notch in the fitness center, treat yourself to a soothing session in the Lotus Spa, or relax at The Sanctuary, just for adults . Dinnertime temps with a range of onboard fine dining options offering tantalizing cuisine… maybe the Crown Grill for steak, the Crab Shack for seafood, or Sabatini's for Italian. Later tonight, try your luck in the casino, dance the night away at Skywalkers Nightclub, or head to the theatre for one of four original Broadway-style productions created exclusively for Princess by Stephen Schwartz, the legendary composer of "Wicked," "Godspell" and "Pippin." 2026 Solar Eclipse: Princess Cruises to sail into totality

W eeks after a total solar eclipse crossed over a large swath of North America, Princess Cruises is already making plans for the next one.

The cruise line will be in the path of totality when the August 2026 solar eclipse crosses over a small sliver of Europe.

The Sky Princess will be off the coast of northern Spain on Aug. 12, 2026, as part of a 14-day Mediterranean cruise. Those on board the 3,660-guest cruise ship will experience more than two minutes of total darkness during the astronomical event of a lifetime.

The cruise line had two packed ships stationed off the coast of Mexico when the 2024 total solar eclipse passed over on April 8.

John Padgett, Princess Cruises president, said the best way to view an eclipse is at sea.

“Our guests who recently experienced this rare occurrence on Discovery Princess and Emerald Princess were simply blown away,” Padgett said. “We make it easy for guests to come aboard, relax and meet other eclipse enthusiasts. It’s truly a special opportunity.”

Tickets for the “Total Eclipse Sky Princess Voyage” go on sale May 23, with rates starting at $2,199 per person, taxes and port fees not included.

The cruise will depart from Southampton, England on Aug. 8, 2026 and will sail to Cherbourg, France; Bilbao and Cartagena, Spain; and Lisbon, Portugal — among other stops.

When the eclipse takes place, guests will be able to gather on the top decks of the massive ship to watch with safety glasses for viewing provided by the cruise line. The event will also feature lectures from astronomy experts, solar system trivia and themed treats and drinks, Princess said.

Padgett said the next eclipse cruise will be an experience to remember, but stressed that space on the ship is limited and the two recent eclipse cruises in Mexico were completely sold out.

Princess is launching an all-inclusive, 4-month, around-the-world cruise for $20,000— see what it'll be like

  • Princess Cruises announced a 114-day  world cruise to 52 destinations in 2026, starting at $20,000 per person.
  • Guests who book early would get a free, all-inclusive package, a first for Princess' global itineraries.
  • Extended and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the vacation industry.

Insider Today

Princess Cruise's new around-the-world voyage will hit two vacation trends in one itinerary.

In January 2026, the company says its Coral Princess will embark on a 114-day cruise to 52 ports in 28 countries and six continents — more destinations than any of its previous global sailings .

It's the Carnival Corp brand's latest appeal to the extended cruising trend . But it's not the only fad this four-month vacation is targeting.

The sailing, which starts at $20,000 per person, also marks the first time Princess is offering a complimentary all-inclusive package as a way to entice early bookings.

Ultra-long and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the industry.

star princess cruise

Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania's 2024 around-the-world cruises all sold out before departing in January. The former was fully booked within three hours, while every cabin on the latter was called for in 30 minutes.

Besides being high-end, these three companies share one commonality: some level of all-inclusiveness , as is common with premium cruise lines.

Mass-market cruise companies rarely go the all-inclusive route.

star princess cruise

Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.

But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants . After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.

But Princess has been increasingly vying for a slice of the luxury cruiser pie.

star princess cruise

The cruise line says guests who book its 2026 world cruise early (that is, by the end of October) will receive its most inclusive Princess Premier package for free. The perk — launched two years ago — covers amenities that typically have a fee, like WiFi, premium drinks, some specialty restaurants, and workout classes.

Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines .

The itinerary would have two roundtrip embarkation options: Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 5, 2026, or Los Angeles 16 days later.

star princess cruise

From there, the 2,000-guest Coral Princess would sail more than 35,000 nautical miles to ports in North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Central and South America.

It wouldn't be Princess' longest voyage — that title goes to its 116-day world cruise in 2025 — but it would be one of its most destination-heavy.

While two days longer, next year's around-the-world cruise would hit six fewer ports and four fewer countries than its 2026 counterpart.

According to the itinerary, about half of the 2026 voyage consists of sea days.

star princess cruise

That's a lot of time on the water with no land in sight. Luckily, travelers can keep themselves entertained by attending lectures and programs related to the destinations, leisuring around the adult-only lounge, or taking a dip in Coral Princess' four pools.

The 21-year-old ship also has 10 places to grab a bite, although the Italian and steakhouse restaurants are considered specialty. Premier is the cruise line's most inclusive package, but it only includes 16 free dinners at these upcharge restaurants, paced once a week.

Princess is still a mass-market cruise line, after all.

The company has been increasingly dangling its inclusive package as a big perk.

star princess cruise

The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection . Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.
